Straight Line Landscape

If you value quality work, not having to micro manage your contractor and working with a fantastic landscape designer then you should certainly contact Straight Line. From start to finish they were always professional. We loved the design ideas that were shared and design process. We were always able to bounce ideas past them along the way.

When it came to construction, they had a fantastic crew who really did great work. And if we weren't happy with something they would adjust it. The really wanted to ensure that we were thrilled with our landscape. They even fixed other work performed by the pool contractor because they knew it would be a problem and they wanted to do the right thing. Not many contractors do that.

The finished product is phenomenal! We love being in our backyard and sharing it with our neighbors and friends.

Also, they have a great warranty program and a dedicated warranty team to help. Since they do a lot of work for the home builders you don't have to worry if they will be around to help after the job is done. Highly recommend them for your larger landscape needs.

Straight Line made our dreams for our back yard come true. I gave Holly a basic sketch and idea of what we were looking for and she designed an awesome plan. We made no changes as it was perfect. The construction went smoothly. The entire team was professional resulting in a real quality product. We had a pergola extension of our covered patio at the house, a ramada with a gas grill, Primo (kamado sytle smoker, a tv wall to accomodate our 65 TV, and a pool with a great water feature. We've been enjoying it completely in the last week since completion. It feels like we are at a Phoenix or Scottsdale resort. I highly recommend Straight Line for your outdoor construction needs.

Taylor Morrison contracted Straight Line to do our driveway and they did an excellent job. We had a small problem (due to the ridiculous amount of rain during this monsoon season) and they were very quick to address the issue. I see a lot of my neighbors have used Straight Line and have their signs on their lawns so they appear to be doing things the right way, very responsively.

Holly was able to create our backyard oasis based on a couple of inspirational pictures I showed her. The crew was very efficient and hard working. They all listened to my vision (and I was very picky) and exceeded all of our expectations. I looked at a couple of landscaping companies, but this one by far was best in regards to outcomes, efficiency, and cost. Will continue to recommend them to all friends.

We had Straight Line install pavers in our drive, install drainage lines, and build a retaining wall. Because of the slope of our property, we needed to ensure that water was directed to the appropriate areas. The design and install has accomplished that. Manuel and his crew did a fantastic job installing the pavers and made adjustments to the design without hesitation. We are extremely happy with how the project turned out. I would like to thank the Straight Line team (Travis, Chris, Holly, Nate, Derek, Manuel, Jose, Audrey, Amber) for making it an enjoyable process!

We had a lot of delays in our build but not with Straight Line. They were on time, on budget and very impressive. First day about a dozen workers showed up. We ran into some unforeseen snags but they resolved them without issues. I would use them again. Very happy with final results! I'm sad to see they only have 3 star on Yelp. They are a 5 star company!

I have to say I was surprised by the reviews I have seen on Yelp.  These guys took our backyard to a new level with the outdoor fireplace and built in grill.  

Holly's design was great and the execution of the work was flawless.  

When they were complete you could not even tell that we had construction going on in our backyard.

I definitely would use them for future work.  

This is the first company that I have been willing to review on Yelp.

After the initial project was complete which went beautifully, we called for follow up  on some settling cracks on the Ramada. We had spoke with Travis about 4 months ago and he promised to repair cracks the following week.  We really just want the cracks repaired. Otherwise the overall look of the landscaping and pool, Ramada and pergola  is fantastic.  Too bad their follow through is so poor.  We are not sure where to go from here. They had done the model home in our Taylor Morrison subdivision and it was beautiful.  One of our reasons for choosing them.  But buyer beware, no follow through. PS we have left him Travis multiple messages at the contact number he gave us to no avail.

3 months on their supposes schedule, still waiting.

This was the company that put in the landscaping for my house in my new subdivision so iI thought I'd use them for additional paver sidewalk and gravel installation. - big mistake.  I should have know by the fact that a section of my paver driveway was sinking before I even moved in to my house.

Started with leaving 5 messages for Holly over a 2 week period. - never heard back.  Finally got a hold of Christopher.  He gave me a 6-8 week time estimate before they could start.  Every 2 weeks I contacted him and kept getting the answer you're on my schedule.   - That was nearly 3 months ago.  Finally told him I was going to look somewhere else.

Okay, I understand you're in high demand, but after 2 months I can only assume I was never on the list and you should have been told after 1 month, not 3, that they don't know when you'll get around to my job.

What would have happened in I had 15 tons of gravel delivered on my driveway on a day they said they were coming if they didn't come???

I'd give them 1 star but I don't l don't know the quality of their work.  There's enough 1 and 2 star ratings here;  that should have been a hint.  Sorry.

Overpriced landscapers that take shortcuts and don't stand behind their work. If you are thinking of using this company run fast in the other direction. The customer service is also a huge problem with this business.

Update: 9/2017 - LOWERED FROM 2 STARS TO 1:  Over the last few years we have determined that the irrigation system was design and constructed all wrong!  It would take thousands of $'s to make it right and in the meantime we keep having plants die. DO NOT USE THESE FOLKS FOR ANY TYPE OF IRRIGATION OR PLANT LANDSCAPING!

In summary - definitely recommend them for any hard-scape project (would have given 4.5 stars), just don't use them for plant landscaping.

We contracted with Straight Line do the following:
-Resurface all backyard patio/pool decking - DID A FANTASTIC JOB!
-Re-tile pool waterline tile &  patch water feature - Contracted out to others...did a great job.
-Acid wash pool - Contracted out to others.  Work left a lot of streaking and wound up having it totally resurfaced.  Contractor provided a fair price to redo even though it wasn't part of the original budget (+$4k).
-Both front and back yard totally re-landscaped including new irrigation.  This is why rating was only two stars. Bottom line: a lot of plants and final plantings are no where near what the designed drawings showed. Original designer wasn't even here when plantings were going on.   We had the opportunity to physically pick out a few of the major plants, but all the others had to be the smallest and weakest plants.  Either Straight Line didn't care what the nursery wanted to provide or they just provided the plants with the greatest profit margin for them.  

In fairness, a few of the wrong plants that were delivered were kept and planted at no charge....but it did throw off a lot of the original design.

Don't use this company. Everything looks good on the surface, until I found out they didn't plant the trees right. First storm and both fell and broke.  Arborist said they planted them wrong and roots were twisted around tree, but they planted them anyway. Having my gardner plant bushes where the trees were, only to find out that Straight Line did a poor job installing the valves. It all has to be redone. Not worth the 5,000 I paid to have poor watering system by Straight Line. I complained, but never heard back. They are only interested in selling not customer service. Would have given no stars if there was that option.

I only give them 2 stars and not 1 star because the design was nice and the yard looks good.  They do a great job...until they have all of the contracted money and there is nothing in it for them any more.  I had to call multiple times for warranty repairs.  My most recent 2 issues were never responded to at all.  In April, my expensive built-in BBQ burned out and components melted.  I had the BBQ company come out to inspect it and they told me that the BBQ was installed incorrectly.  Not only was the ventilation done wrong, which was contrary to all manufacturer recommendations, but the natural gas line was not hooked up correctly.  The inspector told me that there was a gas leak due to the way they hooked it up and I was extremely lucky that there was not an event every time I turned it on.  The installer also did not install the gas regulator, which meant that the high powered gas lines from the home were putting way too much gas into the BBQ, driving its temperatures above factory recommendations.  In looking through my parts, Straight Line gave me the regulator in a box as spare parts.  I've asked them to have the owner give me a call to discuss these issues and have not heard anything from him.  At the very least, if you are a reputable company and you do something that puts someone's life in danger and they ask you to discuss it, maybe you should make that call.  I wish I had read all of the reviews before using them.  I had more jobs for them to do but I'm going to other companies instead.  They put me and my family in danger and they don't care enough to even call me back.

Your lack of driving skills and even more lack of tact will be reason enough to never try your services. After cutting off a woman in traffic your driver decided the right thing to do would be wait for her to pass and flip her off too. Nice going, next time remember there's a logo on your truck!

We contracted them to remove grass in our front yard and replace it with desert landscape. It looked great when they finished. One week later there was more grass showing than rock. They neglected to kill the grass they hadn't completely dug up nor had they put down that anti vegetation cloth. They came out and did a half assed job of putting down cloth. They left spaces around the large rocks and plants. Still grass all over. First big rain I had water in my house along a side wall. They didn't remove enough dirt on my side lawn. They just dumped rock and killed the drainage. I could see dirt in most places, not 4 inches of rock. They came out and put in a 'French' drain which almost worked, sort of. I still get a bunch of water when it rains. Never, ever had water in there before, but have given up on Straight Line ever fixing the problem. I almost forgot about the poor job of planting they did. See other reviews and you'll get the idea. It would have been more economic to leave my St Augustine and privot hedges, water it and not have water in my house...................... Or maybe not used Straight line?

We just had Straigh Line Landscape do our front and rear yard.  From top to bottom, even adding block posts for an extended patio another company is installing.  First let me just say that they did a FANTASTIC job.  Holly was THE best to work with, she went above and beyond for us in order to get the design done and the quote done, and to get it all done right.  Then there's Travis the supervisor and Rubin the foremen.  What can I say!  They just bent over backwards to do everything for us in a timely fashion, and very professionally, and when we had questions, they both didn't dance around it.  They told it straight up.  We had a large amount of pavers done (about 1300 sf of pavers, yes, you read that right...we have a large back yard), granite (landscape rock), 55 tons of it, plants, irrigation for the plants, boulders, lawn and a sprikler system, electrical, etc., and basically turned a blah looking yard into an oasis.  I highly recommend them, and believe me, I'm a shopper.  I thoroughly looked at 3 different companies, from big commercial type companies to the small guy with a small crew, and found that Holly and her company were not only fair in their pricing, but delivered everything they promised and more.  Thanks again Straight Line.  I know who I'll be recommending for any type of landscpe jobs to my friends. And now I can sit outside and just enjoy the beautiful yard that has just been created just for us.

I am seven months past initial installation and I feel compelled to add a review online. The two stars I give are for initial call back/response time from Holly, which was excellent, and for the customer service from the person in charge of installation, Mac. I debated only giving one star due to several factors: 1. It took three installations before all my plants survived. 2. My two main concerns with the back-yard re-do were: a) a wall covering that required no maintenance on my part and b) a plant that I could see out my kitchen window. Neither of those two requests was met. They installed snails' tail vine, which continually flops forward and does not adhere to the wall or to the two small lines they strung on the wall. I have to be out there constantly, trying to train it and tacking additional holders to the wall to make it not flop forward - exactly what I was trying to avoid. As for the kitchen view, it took 3 installs before something lasted, and to say that the current plant has lasted is a stretch. 7 months after I paid for something to look at out my kitchen window, I am staring at a mostly dead/sickly plant that looks as stressed as the day of its planting.  3. The artificial grass in the backyard had a striped effect after initial install, which they fixed on second visit, but still retains a slight striping effect. 4. The design took my request to see something out of each window too literally and did not give me any expert insight - they planted three plants across from a window, but smushed up under an already existing citrus tree instead of balanced between two existing citrus trees - something I think a landscape designer should have caught as we talked. On a customer service note, I would say that after the initial positive response times, and after payment and initial install, customer response time was abysmal. I had to eventually say that I was going to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau before they contacted me about taking care of the almost half of plans that died within a week of initial install. I unfortunately would say that I would be very wary about choosing this landscaping company.
