Dealing with a contractor when you don't live in the state - and are trying to get a job done for an elderly parent - can be difficult. So many people in the trades seem to want to take advantage of older folks in a way that infuriates me. Having looked at a couple of the bids my mother got for a replacement HVAC system I was wondering if some of the local businesses were trying to pull a fast one on her.

In calling around, I managed to talk to Brian Sorensen. During our first conversation, we spoke on the phone for over half an hour as he went into great detail about the ins and outs of the systems my mom could put on her roof, explained the changing DoE standards and how they would impact cost, regaled me with SEER values and how they are tested. Having gotten a replacement HVAC system here in California and gone through all this with Cool Air Solutions, I had a little familiarity with the terms Brian was using, but was impressed by his willingness to explain terms in detail and to assess my options. And he did all this the day after Christmas, a time when most shops were closed or had limited personnel on hand. I was very impressed.

I was even more impressed when his bid came in. It was roughly 25% below the other estimates. Like so many others have said in this space, this is because Brian is not interested in trying to upsell his customers on needless services that would pad his bill. He seems committed to offering a great service at an unbeatable price and standing by his work. This is what you need in a contractor, Yelpers.

When the install was done yesterday, Ryan was on hand to oversee every step of the job, to help my mom understand the new system and its fancy thermostat, and answer any questions. He was courteous, professional, and efficient.

Needed to have my aging HVAC replaced, Sorenson gave me the best quote, the best communication, and the best advice in regards to financing. Never felt like I was being taken advantage of or that they were trying to upsell me. They are my go to from this point on.

I don't know if we're cursed but for our second time, our A/C stopped working on a Sunday in June.  In a panic, I searched through trusty Yelp and found this treasure of a company.  My call was answered promptly on a Sunday morning and our tech Ryan was out at our house the same afternoon.  Unfortunately, he did not have the part on hand and would not be able to retrieve it until the next day (Monday) when the supplier would be open for business again.  Story of my life with all the repairs over the past couple of years lol.  As my house was getting increasingly hot, I hurriedly made a plan with my mom to stay overnight at her house.

Hubby had a portable A/C unit set up in our office area to make it tolerable while we waited for Ryan to come back out on Monday.  In desperation, I called twice during Monday morning for updates and I think Brian answered each time.  I think he could sense my desperation and was incredibly patient and kind.  The hardest part for us was waiting in the sweltering, uncomfortable warmth for 6+ hours for Ryan.  When he finally called to let me know he was on his way over, I was literally jumping for joy.  Once he did arrive, he started working right away and was done in about 30 minutes.  Our house was pretty much back to normal by the time we were ready for bed in the evening.

I cannot thank Ryan and Sorensen enough for their efforts in getting my family and I taken care of as quickly as possible during this time of year with the ungodly heat.  Ryan spoke to us at great length on Sunday and Monday about A/C stuff and other things.  He is genuinely one of the nicest people I've had the pleasure of meeting.  Between him and Brian, they have earned a customer for life.

They are bona fide heroes in my book and I absolutely recommend them all day, every day.

Brian answered my calls and questions over 2 different days and was super informative and understanding. I had my Ac unit stop blowing cold with 3 dogs and 2 kids in the house.

Ryan came out over two days and worked extremely quick. Super friendly, awesome work ethic and takes pride in his work. I'm sure I could have found maybe someone cheaper for the repairs but the quality is always worth the extra money.

On a Tuesday afternoon our air conditioner wasn't working properly. My wife noticed when it was only blowing hot air when she called me at work. I got off as soon as I can to try to fix it myself, but nothing worked. I don't know anything about air conditioners, but being a sort of handy man I thought there was something I could do. There wasn't...

In the middle of summer I couldn't let our family go much longer to bare this heat inside our home. It got up to the low 90's when I arrived. I quickly searched on Yelp & thought I'd give these guys a call. I'm glad I did. They were able to come out within 20 minutes of my first call, they had the parts available & fixed it in no time.

In summary I will definitely be giving these guys a call for future maintenance/repairs. Don't hesitate & give these guys a call!

I called for an estimate and Brian walked me through my options after reviewing my inspection report. He gave me several options and helped me make the right choice for the situation. We ended up replacing two 21 year old a/c units. He was quick to schedule, had all the machinery needed to do the job and communicated throughout. He also researched rebates to make sure I could get the best value. Definitely worth a call! Great team.

Called last week to schedule a Clean and Check. I can't tell you if Ryan or Bryan came today. Bryan told me Ryan was coming but y husband thought he introduced himself as Bryan. No matter really. He expedited the inspection with plenty of information along the way. He said our system was working as it should and the cost met the quote.
We were very satisfied with the service and will call them if we have any issues. He commended the brand of system we had and how it was installed.

AC stopped working in the middle of the night.  Called these guys at 7am and they arrived a couple hours later. Technician was very nice with great communication and explained that the compressor fan motor was burned up. Replaced the fan motor and capacitor in a couple hours and then checked out the system. Cost seemed a little high (parts and labor charge plus $75 trip charge plus 3% for using credit card, no senior discount) but still in the ballpark I guess considering the current economic climate.  Overall very professional and good customer service.

Our AC wasn't working...Sorensen had a technician there next day.... The compressor was done...They gave me a few options including just doing the compressor, exchanging the AC parts only, or a whole new system.  From the first time I called to having working AC was just three days.  I contacted a few other companies in the area and the price I ended up paying was the lowest of all of them.  Professional guys! Fast work.

Called them up on a Friday afternoon, air conditioning not working.
They were out within an hour and a half to help out.
The technician was respectful thoughtful courteous and kind.
He helped out with the problem and got everything working.
Would definitely recommend again.

If you are looking for a great AC company you have just found it. Our AC stopped working so I got on Yelp to search just like you are now. We decided to use Sorensen Heating and Cooling and that was definitely the right choice.

I sent them a message and I heard back from them in less then 10 minutes. They were able to fit me in within an hour so that was awesome. Brian showed up on time and was diagnosing the AC in no time. He found the issue quick and explained what it was. He a new part in his van and had it fixed in no time.

Sorensen Heating and Cooling are the valleys best kept secret. It starts with Cotillion working me in their schedule the same day on a Sunday when its over 100 degrees, i called all those other big companys but they didn't want to see me till
Monday.

Don't waste your time with those big companys that are going to sell you  capacitors and freon for hundreds of dollars that you don't need. Sorensen are honest and fair, Brian was very confident experienced and you could tell he knew what he was doing. They are friendly safe, the most experienced at the best priced, after all isnt that what we all are looking for.

Brian was thorough in his explanation of the problem he suspected and gave me a rundown of how everything worked. Good honest work, will bring using his services again if the time comes

During an air conditioning tuneup being performed by another company, the technician found a bad blower wheel in my air handler. He gave me an (in my humble opinion) outrageous estimate for the repair (almost $600). He actually tried to sell me an entire new system. After he left, I called around for quotes and Sorensen came in at a little over $300, which seemed a little more reasonable. Even though my unit was still functioning, they got me on the schedule the next afternoon. Brian showed up and did a fantastic job, in and out in less then an hour. He showed me the old blower wheel, which was in pretty poor shape, causing my air handler to vibrate when it was running. Needless to say, I highly recommend Sorensen. They are honest, reliable, and won't rip you off!

They came out quickly for a reasonable price. The technician explained the situation to us and refused to do anymore than absolutely necessary because we will probably need to get a new unit.  Would use them again.

I really was impressed!  A genuine honest owner who actually made a small repair to our filter door cover when he gave is the estimate on a new unit.  Estimate was very competitive on a high quality unit and the owner was on site for the install.  In a marketplace full of big companies, you will do way better to let these guys do your next HVAC work.  Five stars was not enough!

I contacted Sorensen Heating and Air Conditioning to come out and service my AC unit before summer hit.  After several snags with scheduling and finally getting them out I was impressed with their service and knowledge.  They were very professional, took the time to explain what they were going to do.  Afterwards I was shown what they did and any recommendations.  I appreciated the no up-selling service and attitude.  I will use them again in the future, be patient as communication is a bit spotty.

Great and honest service. Brian came out to help diagnosing why our heat would not kick on. The previous company that installed a new control panel did not do it right, so Brian took care of it for a very reasonable service fee. Would highly recommend!

Reasonable prices, friendly people, emergency services from 8am-6pm. Alternatives at various price ranges and absolutely no high pressure sales. Best air conditioning experience I've ever had. (Out of between 5 and 10 in my life).
Oh, and warranties!

Tried to schedule an AC tuneup on their website online form, which didn't work. No answer when calling the office phone. After 3 tries, finally reached someone.

On the scheduled day, we were told someone would call before they arrived at the scheduled time. No one called. Two attempts to reach someone in the office failed. Half an hour after the scheduled time, they called and said they would be there in 30-45 minutes. They instead arrived 90 minutes later.

Once onsite, the technician performed the work satisfactory. Only a couple hundred dollars of repairs found.

In conclusion, the work was performed well , but their customer service is severely lacking. Had it not been for the 5-star reviews, I would have given up and went with someone else.

I called when my A/C wouldn't come on. They came out promptly, diagnosed the problem (bad capacitor) and we're done in under 30 minutes. Didn't try to scam me into paying for parts I didn't need. Have used them before and wouldn't hesitate to call again.

Our AC had died and been repaired by one AC company but never felt like it was working properly, I decided to have another AC company come out and perform a check up. The second AC company gave me a list of problems that need to be fixed so I contacted my home warranty company and thankfully they sent Brian from Sorensen out. He was friendly, HONEST, and very knowledgeable. He didn't mind me hovering around him as he worked and he pointed out problems and explained them to me as he found them. The home warranty company decided to replace our AC and I was thankful that they used Sorensen once again to install the new unit.

Honest, Prompt, Courteous.  We found Sorensen on Yelp and decided to try him due to the great reviews and we were not disappointed.
I was able to get an appointment within 2 days. Brian, the owner, did a diagnostic on the A/C system and told me what he thought should be done, but didn't try to up-sell me.  He replaced our malfunctioning fan and the unit works great now.  Will definitely recommend to friends and family and will use him again.  It's always nice to be able to use a locally owned and operated business.

Brian came out once again to review and maintain our HVAC system.  Does not get any better then this guy. Excellent communication and service from start to finish. If you need any HVAC work done, without a doubt call Brian and he will get the job done promptly, fairly priced, and always with the utmost care and quality.

I can't say enough about how awesome Sorensen AC treated us. Brian came out replaced our thermostat and explained everything he was doing and explained what the builders didn't do. This company shoots straight and tells the customer like it is. The A/C tech Brian was very knowledgeable and works very efficiently! I would recommend Sorensen Heating and Cooling to anyone that needs good work done at a fair price.

After much research - both on Yelp and other website searches - I narrowed down my pick to a few companies.  After talking to each of the companies on the phone, I was most impressed with Sorensen.  The lady was helpful, thorough, and knowledgeable - the only one with all three qualities.  Honestly, the other ones had no redeemable qualities whatsoever and they all sounded annoyed to even explain what's included in their maintenance package.  Really?

I basically wanted them to come for an annual maintenance check before the summer heat really kicked in.  We had a rough start.  I was cancelled on then rescheduled; I didn't pick up the phone and respond in time on the rescheduled date to let them know it was OK to come so I was cancelled on again and had to wait another week before they could come back out.  I really just wanted to go with someone else at this point but decided against it - good thing.  TIP: RESPOND to their phone call!!  If not, they just go to the next appointment.  

So third times a charm.  Now, I don't like dealing with A/C people.  We've had issues in the past with other companies and I always feel like they are selling me something I don't need but when you don't know anything about how stuff like this works, what are you going to do?  You know when your A/C works and you definitely know when it doesn't.  That's the extent of my knowledge.

Needless to say, when Brian started telling me everything wrong with our units, I could feel my blood pressure rising and our wallets shrinking.  BUT ... I will say this, he's the only person who has come to our house and explained stuff that was wrong with our units by giving us a straight answer.  How do I know they were straight answers?  Well, I guess I don't.  I may not know much about how A/C units run but I usually do pretty good when I go with my gut and my gut felt like I could trust these folks.  I've always been given the run around about why the heck our units leaked Freon and always thought something was wrong that we had to keep getting it topped off every year.  Brian on the other hand told me exactly what he would do to fix the Freon leak - something that should never happen to your units by the way, which I knew, but no one has ever properly fixed, even when I asked about it.

Even though this visit instead of costing us a few hundred turned out to be a few thousand, we were given an honest answer on our repairs, I felt.  Our living room never feels like it's cooling down during the height of the summer heat.  Even though we're not at peak heat season yet, I really do feel like the units are all running more smoothly.  I guess only time will tell if the repairs really helped but I'm optimistic that it did!  So we had to forgo our Hawaii vacation and opt for something closer to home this year but if our units continue to run as smoothly as it has for the past few weeks, it was certainly worth it!

I will definitely use these folks in the future.

After finding several gallons of water in my duct work last night, I called this morning and got an appointment scheduled for later in the day. The tech arrived on time and was very thorough and fast with his work. The best part to me, he didn't mind me watching him work and giving him a hand when I could. Not sure how the prices compare with other companies, but I will not look anywhere else!!! Very satisfied with the quality of work and how quickly it was done! I will definitely recommend Sorensen's to anyone who asks!

After reading the review by Jessica P. I decided to give Sorensen's a call, and I was very happy with the results. My heat went out, so I gave them a call and Brian came out a few hours later. He was very efficient and knowledgeable and was able to repair it. Even knowing he had other service calls to go on that night, he took the time to answer all my questions. He even went the extra mile and looked at my water heater for me after mentioning that the hot water didn't last long. I will definitely be calling them for all my ac and heating needs. My fiance and I decided to give Brian a call after some friends of ours had him out to look at their problematic air conditioner. After they had some bad experiences with some other local heating and cooling companies, I knew that he had to be good from how much they raved about him. I really liked him from the minute I met him. He showed up on time, he called a half an hour ahead to give me notice, and his manners didn't stop there. He's a genuinely nice, hard-working, and honest guy. He spent about two hours at our house, even though he got here at 5pm and still had other calls after us. He wrote up an extremely detailed list of all of the things that needed to be repaired and gave us bids for each one. He was also upfront about the fact that the repairs don't need to be done right away, and he hung around and answered all of our questions afterward. We will definitely be using him for ALL of our future heating and cooling needs. We wouldn't even think of using anyone else.

I hired Sorensen Heating and Cooling for regular air conditioning service.  Brian is very knowledgeable, honest, and he explained everything clearly to me.  There were no hidden costs and I never felt pressured into paying for anything extra or unnecessary.   He called me 30 min prior to let me know he was on his way and arrived within the allotted window of time.  In addition, he brought his own ladder and shoe covers!  I am very pleased with this company's service and will definitely hire them in the future.  I highly recommend Sorensen Heating and Cooling.

I went back and forth between companies, finally deciding to give Sorensen's a call after reading the yelp reviews.  Brian exceeded my expectations!  He was able to do an evening appointment, which I needed as I work late.  He was clean, respectful, honest, hard-working, and answered all of my many questions.  Brian was personable, knowledgeable, and never tried to pressure me into buying anything.  My furnace is working beautifully now!  Brian also went above and beyond, fixing the cut corners that other technicians had left behind.  What impressed me most about Brian was his commitment to integrity and his care for people ~ his family and his customers.  I will be calling only Sorensen's for all of my future heating and cooling needs.  Thank you, Brian!

Absolutely would recommend this company. We had noticed our AC was blowing warmer than usual and taking a really long time to cool the house in March. Got Sorensen out within a day or two and he came out and looked everything over and explained everything as he went. Found out we had a hole in the coil that was leaking coolant (he found out we had NO coolant left). He gave us several options: fix it now, do a quick fix and see if it works, or patch. He explained the pros and cons of each option and the approximate cost of each option. We opted to do a quick fix and find the money to replace the coil in a few months. The manufacturer (which our contractor chose, and had nothing to do with Sorensen) was really difficult to deal with and kept delaying but Sorensen kept me in the loop and let me know as soon as it was in. Even with a major issue from the initial installation (again, our contractor's issue!!!), he was extremely friendly and efficient. This company definitely knows their field, and it was great to get a better understanding of how our AC works and what could go wrong. It is so difficult to find a good company you can trust, especially in the middle of summer here in Phoenix, but this company totally fits the bill. I will absolutely be using them in the future and I highly recommend them to anyone looking!
