Dov was easy to work with and flexible with me changing up the install date. He did a double door between my bedroom and the addition right off the bedroom which I use as an office. It turned out great and now I just need to have it painted.

I would use Dov again for all my door needs.

They may be quality craftsmen but good luck getting them to show up in Chandler to bid a door replacement. It took (2) calls to get someone on the phone, then I got the run around and a couple tok
en calls promising someone would come out to bid the job, but gave up after a week of no-show...Now I'm looking for another company to do the work.

I can't say enough about the quality of Dov's work and his expertise and responsiveness. I hired him to build custom floor to ceiling book cases out of oak wood in my rear living room. He helped me figure out the best design, and the construction was pristine. Even before the shelving units were later stained, the raw wood and construction looked stunning. He is up front, fair in pricing, and punctual. He also is helping me scope out future additional projects that we discussed together while he was here. Beyond that, he threw in for free fixing a nuisance entry door that needed to be trimmed down and a new threshold installed. Hiring a builder to do work on your home is stressful, but with Dov there is no stress whatsoever. 5 stars!

I purchased some gently used Anderson French doors from OfferUp. Although I do a lot of home improvement projects myself, I wanted someone else to install them since it's a two man job. After a fair amount of research, I came across Shapiro Builders. And I couldn't be happier that I did. You can tell Dov knows the nuances of door installation, and that he takes a great deal of pride in his work. They not only did a great job with the installation, but they also cleaned up the doors, which had been sitting outside for several months, and the job site. I'm having Dov back in the near future to install another French door, once we complete the masonry work. Bottom line: if you need a door installed, call Dov; I'm confident that you'll be glad you did.

Dov put in a new steel door leading from our garage to the side yard. He also installed a wooden mantle on the stone wall over our fireplace. He does quality work at a reasonable price. I would not hesitate to use his services in the future.

Fantastic experience with Shapira Builders! I cannot say enough good things about Dov and his crew. I called for an estimate for trim repair, new exterior door, new patio posts and to have a pergola built. Dov came out, on time, prepared and actually took an interest in the job. He arrived with a tape measure and a note pad. I was immediately impressed. The crew started a few days later and finished in 2 days! They arrived both days on time and worked tirelessly to get the job done. They cleaned up on both days and didn't leave me with mess to clean up. I also appreciated some of the products Dov and his crew used, they weren't cheap looking and were meant to withstand the elements.

Throughout the process Dov communicated with me so I knew what was going on. All the work they did looks amazing and I couldn't be happier. I have a few more projects to complete and I will be definitely be using Shapira Builders again!

Mr. Shapira is a rare find these days is a sea of flakey, overpriced, underwhelming craftsmen. We got his number from Heldt Lumber, called, and he responded, set up and appointment, and HE SHOWED UP! already impressed, showed us his work, he is well known in the historic community. We were having some old ranch diamond pane doors hung up, he said he could do it, gave a price, time frame and followed through with all. We are so happy with our old new doors! We will definitely be using him in the future!

Dov was excellent! He worked with us from beginning to end- while waiting for the insurance company.
He replaced and repaired our entire back door after a break in. He even cam back a week later to give me a hand installing new hardware, and making sure everything looked and worked perfectly. Thanks for the extra help! I would be calling him again for our next project.

Had an excellent experience with Shapira Builders. Discovered termite damage around the frame of an extremely large custom door. I contacted MANY different companies to come and provide estimates. Many companies immediately said I needed a master woodworker, other quoted estimated over $6k. I honestly had no idea what to do. I came across Shapira on Yelp and all the reviews seemed very positive. They aren't fake! My experience with Dov was terrific from the first phone call until the final day. He is an expert, friendly, transparent and cleaned up beautifully. The repair around the door came out absolutely perfect and honestly looks better than before. Some day I will downsize and inevitably want to remodel, Dov will be my first phone call. Thank you Dov, you saved my sanity!!

Dov was highly recommended from a friend and was touted as The Door Whisperer. He lived up to this recommendation as Dov helped us install all of our interior and exterior doors with our re-build and was able to solve some unique nuances with our doors as our home being 1955 era. Dov did an impeccable job and was a pleasure to be around. We learned a tremendous amount from Dov regarding design and install techniques. We easily give Dov 5 stars as it is well deserved. I just had my new door installed by Dov. It's absolutely perfect. When other door makers told me their buds, I cringed. Dov quoted a very fair price. But the best thing?? He does the work and it is first rate. My door is heavy, a little larger than standard, and had custom made wood decorations on the front. Other door makers says they couldn't find the size so their quotes were beyond anything I could imagine.

The door is heavy, all the trim is new and it fits flawlessly. The hardware was installed perfectly without any scratches.

I own rental properties and I've dealt with a number of door makers over the years. I will never use any others than Dov. He is what a true craftsman should be: highest quality, attention to detail, gets it done quickly, honest and shows up when he says he will be on site!

Dov is without a doubt an old world Craftsman. We had a weathered, damaged, un-cared for front door. Dov was able to repair it and made it look better than new.
If you have a flexible schedule and are willing to wait the time it takes for him to work his magic then he is your man. If you want a rush job that looks like everyone else's, then he's not your guy. We have a beautiful front door and are very happy with the work. He also adjusted and sealed several other doors, no more drafts and dust inside.

I had a badly warped wooden entry door that let air in around the edges and was difficult to close and lock after 20 years of usage. Dov did great work that allowed me to keep the door, which I very much wanted to do because the inside matched my décor and the outside had been made rustic by me and decorated with black iron accents. He made the door very usable again. He made a number of adjustments. I am so pleased with his work. And I must state that he is a true gentleman and professional and has honesty and other personable traits that made it a great pleasure to have his services. We have Dov a challenging job and he rose to the occasion! We wanted French doors with custom crown molding and door handle to match the rest of the house. We also wanted a stylish facade put on an old fireplace, which required a bit of imagination and inventiveness. And Dov did each task wonderfully! The doors look like the we're always part of the house. And the fireplace looks fabulous, better than I would have imagined. He also fixed an AC drain for us so it no longer leaked onto the patio. And his bid for everything combined was lower than the competitor's bid for just the doors. We will definitely call him again for future projects!

After all these glowing reviews, we had Dov over for an estimate. He listened (and talked a lot) then said he'd call back with ideas and estimates. One month later, crickets... Found another more professional window and door company who brought lots of ideas and catalogs on his first visit.

When my husband and I got stuck on refinishing our own front door I called Dov, expecting to leave a message (it was a Sunday afternoon) and get a call back during normal business hours. Not only did he answer but was beyond generous with his time, explaining to us how to get our project back on track and encouraging us to keep at it. Later he came out to give a quote (I wasn't 100% sold on taking another crack at our door) and gave us even more tips. He was super responsive and I could tell that he was looking out for our wallet and best interests. I would not hesitate to contact Dov for your door needs!

I cannot say enough about the integrity of this man! Dove is honest, knowledgeable, and open. He asks many questions so he can get the job done right. Not only that, he is very reasonably priced. He came in just under another builders quote for our patio roof. We ended up going with the other builder because they were more all-inclusive to the different projects we needed for the entire home. However when I had extra questions that weren't explained properly, I reached out to Dove and he gave me his expert opinion. I owe him a consulting fee, but he doesn't charge one! If you need a contractor for carpentry and big wood projects, Shapira builders is your company!

Dov is the real deal. I am very picky about who works on my house. I had Lowe's build a door to spec for my garage side entry to replace one 32 years old. Dov showed up on time, got to work within 5 minutes and demoed the old door and frame. He got the new one in place, shimmed, leveled and squared. He install the door knob and dead bolt, insulated and miter cut trim for both tge inside and out. He then caulked and even sealed the threshold with foam. Dov is very focused when working and not a big talker. He is mission focused. After completion he cleaned up everything. I like the work he did very much. I told him I want him back for other projects. I acted as the general contractor on my home remodel last year and I know quality vs. crap. Dov is an experienced craftsman. He is on my short list of go to tradesmen. Thanks Dov!

Our double entry doors to our home had about 10 years of weathering on them, were dry, and looked like they needed some attention. We called Dov and he came right out to size up the job and gave us a very competitive bid. Over the course of several trips, Dov refinished our doors and now they look and smell new again. Great communication and a pleasure to do business with. We'll be calling him again when we're ready to tackle some other projects. Highly recommended!

Dov was a fabulous find! I randomly found him on Yelp and selected him due to his great reviews! It was a holiday, but I was desperate due to a pending pool inspection in the next 48 hours and gave him a call. He promptly answered my call, told me to send him a picture of the projects I needed complete, quickly texted me back, and we set up the appointment (I couldn't believe I got this lucky on a holiday). He was timely, honest, quoted a fair price, demonstrated great craftsmanship, and we passed the pool inspection with flying colors! My husband and I will definitely call him again for work around the house. *He installed a gate for us and helped with lighting.
