Store: Your typical Antique Lamp Store.

Service: Was assisted by three women who were highly knowledgeable about how best to repair a delicate paper mache lamp shade which unfortunately had a bad tear. In about a week, they quite skillfully repair it back to health.

Price: Very reasonable.

Very unhappy that I asked for my lamp parts to be saved and they were not. They did a good job on altering my lamp.

Walked in here after coming out of antique  shop right across the street. This antique shop is definitely more lamps, lights, furniture and home decor items. If you're looking to decorate your home in European, Victorian or old English style in Your home this store is definitely for you but prepare to drop serious cash here.

I have had several high value lamps ($2K+) re-wired here and have had nothing but positive results every time. I've never had any issue at all and am very pleased with the restorations.

Phoenix Lamps is a cool vintage store with upscale pieces of furniture, home decoration and other odds & ends. I haven't dealt with the lamp repair side of the business, but shopping for antiques here is fun! Similar to other antique stores in the area, it seems like different vendors sell their items in separate little areas, so there's a variety of styles and items carried. While you may not find a particularly affordable antique, there are plenty of treasures to be found!

Stopped by here to get some decorative wire to lengthen the swag on some fixtures and was told they don't sell parts. OK. Though a few years ago I stopped in there for a lamp part and was able to buy it.

So asking if she had a referral, I showed her a sample.  ACE Hardware was her suggestion. Really?  They stock a lot of braided cloth covered 18/3 designer wire in a variety of color choices?

Their business must be doing great to turn away sales. Gotta love twenty-somethings. (Me, I would have called the owner)

HORRIBLE.  I will not patronize this business ever again.  I had a $100 floor lamp and the base collapsed.  I realized that the parts that screw together had lost their threading.  Because it was a fairly nice lamp I called the shop and was told this was done all the time and it was a minor repair.  When I brought the base in for repair I was told again it was a minor job that should take about 3 weeks and likely wouldn't cost any more than the $40 deposit I was required to leave.

Five weeks later, I still hadn't heard from them, and when I called, they could not locate my lamp base and after a few hours they did find it, once again telling me it would be another 3 weeks.

When I finally got another call that it was ready - the charges were another $60.00.   This was absolutely unacceptable to me after having been told the charges should not exceed $40.  I tried to reason with the person and they stood firm that the work they performed was worth $100.00.

Why spend $100 to repair a lamp that I could replace for $100.00?  Too late, I also realized that I could just purchase a similar base on eBay.

I like to patronize local family businesses but this business makes me understand why we live in a throwaway society!

Update- Art didn't call back. I called next day said he was too busy to talk, would call me back, did not.
Looks like a lesson learned for me.  Horrible customer service! When I asked him to help me load weighted pole lamp in my car, he said that would be $100.  Jerk!  I so wanted to believe in this business doing the right thing to correct a problem.

I have asked in person and via phone to get a breakdown again on my bill.  I took a pole lamp in to have weight, screwed back into the base, mine had disintegrated. I did not order the weight myself on line as I wanted to make sure I had the correct one. Art had me put down a $35 deposit.  When I asked how much it would be fina cost, he said not much more.
They called me the next day to say lamp was ready. When I went to pick it up I was told my bill was an additional $80! I said minus the $35, he said no $60 an hour labor.  Daniel who did the work, only needed to screw the weight on!  When I called the next day to review bill I had paid and correct it (before writing this review) he could not locate my bill for breakdown and the line went dead. I immediately  called back twice and got store info message. I left a message and my phone number, no response. My total cost with tax came to $119.  I could have bought a new lamp!  IF you decide to use this company, get your repairs in writing before leaving.  I am disappointed in such poor customer service by a company that has been around for years.  I heard there are new owners.  I hope someone gets back to me to update this review. Did not get back after phone calls on my part, hence review.

I debated between 4 and 5 stars as I had not been in this store for a long time.  However, I have probably sent hundreds of people there over the years for any kind of lamp problem.  When I went in today I had a good experience so am adding that and what people have told me I am giving them 5.

I worked with the owner, Pat, who helped me to find shades for an unusual pair of lamps.  It had been quite some time since I have shopped for lamp shades so I appreciatedd her giving me a better idea on what I will have to spend to do what I want.  I did not make a decision today  once I found out what my options might be on what do do with these lamps.  I can tell you, Pat, spent time with me, gave me options I wouldn't have considered and was not pushy doing it.  Now, I just have to make some decsions.

They also have antiques in the store that are quite interesting.  So if you are looking for antiques and/or  have an lamp situation, I will recommend this store.  They also have a plus, I appreciate, and that is parking.  You have to watch for them or you might past their entrance, but it is worth finding them.

Unbelievably  terrible service !! My mother purchased a bunch of lamp shades in October and one of them they had to order , they made her pay for half first.  So it is now February and she still hasn't gotten the shade and she has called them three times and each time they said they will call her back and they never call her back.  We are going to take a trip there today to get her money for that shade ! There is no excuse for this all and this is really poor service !!!!!  We won't buy from there again and we were longtime returning customers too.

Why can't we choose no stars.  Because when they deserve, no stars, one star is one star too many.   Eh, Yelp?

They are as koo-koo as anyone you can Imagine who fixes lamps for 25-30 years on East Bell Road, under a pun or play on a name.

Never got the opportunity to talk to George but the hag I spoke to was a hag.  Seriously.  A hag.  Think of the last  time anyone used the term, hag.

You go.  One phone call/exchange of business ideas was enough for me.  No money exchanged hands. thank God.

Excellent and efficient customer service! I highly recommend this place, not only for lamp repair, but also for great antiques! I love Asian decor mixed with my Hollywood Regency, and they have a nice selection of both!
My switch was stripped on one of my bedroom lamps, so I took it in. The owner was so friendly, and fixed my lamp in a jif.
After, he showed me around his shop, pointing out different items of interest. I expressed my love of Chinese Foo dogs, noticing he had several. He showed me a gorgeous solid jade sizable pair hidden away in a case. Just beautiful!
Excellent customer service isn't always easy to find, but this little shop on Indian School definitely exudes it!

So this place does the job, but lets just say it's customer service and pricing is a little skeptical and shady.  I had a lamp shade that I needed repaired, it is an old lamp shade from the 50's it is called a wedding cake shade. It comes in multiple tiers one on top of the other.

So I call down, and they tell me that they can fix anything, after i bring it in the lady at the front desk says that they can't fix it, and she has never even seen anything like it before and is flat out rude. Just as I am getting ready to leave a younger guy comes up and inquires about my problem, he explains that they need to take in the back to their fix it guy and see if he can fix it. We all proceed to go back and the man says he can fix it.

Estimate given $20.40. Should not exceed that I was told...I was told they would call me if it cost any more then that.

I say sounds good, they say it will take a week.

So a week later I come back in and sure enough the shade is fixed, now they never called me to say it was done...I just showed up. They get the shade and its almost as good as new. Now comes the problem..the lady again...extremely rude. And when she goes to hand me the receipt she ads another  $20 for labor, $6.00 for parts and .50 for tax. So the total comes out to $46.50 to fix a lamp shade...apparently all they did was weld a few pieces of metal...no parts I can see..., says right on the receipt welded at seem, that cost about $1 in solder and maybe 20 minutes worth of labor.

I felt ripped off by this lady. Per other reviews she was rude and I feel like they have some pretty shady business practices, I can't knock the work...but I would never go back here if I can find another place. I have added a photo of my receipt where she scribbled out the $20 and added the extra charges. Total Rip off. AVOID.

Do not, I repeat do not take anything to this place.  I should have known better.  I tried to call them and email them in November and their phones did not work and they did not answer emails.  I went in to find crystals I needed for an expensive chandelier I have.  They were helpful in the store and told me they would keep the strands I brought in and order exactly what I needed.  Two months passed and I received notice they were not able to order the crystals for me.  Really, after two months you tell me.  They told me to come and pick up my strands I had left but the only problem was I did not get them all back.  I have called numerous times and was told someone would look into it and get back to me.  I am still waiting to hear.  The customer service is a joke and I feel very disrespected.  Is seems like they have numerous staff but they stand around and no one is willing to assist, they take forever and never get back to you.  I am disgusted that a place like this could be in business.
No customer respect.  I don't know how this place will stay in business unless they change.

We've been bringing our lamps for repair and getting lampshades here for years.  Service is efficient and pleasant, lamp repairs are appropriately done in a timely fashion, and their lamp shade selection is the best in town.  Also, they can re-cover old lamp shades that have worn out.  I have not had any bad experiences here.

I do see other comments that the staff is rude,  I don't think they are rude but they appear bored and are curious about their customers so may ask odd questions but I don't think it's out of hostility or anything like that.

I brought two antique lamps in to be rewired. I spoke with a man who wrote up my ticket. We agreed on wiring color and a timeline for completion. Three weeks later I came and picked up my beautiful, newly rewired lamps. They were in perfect condition. I could tell that they had spent quality time working on the lamps and I really appreciate it. I will attach pictures of my rewired lamps so you can see that they took excellent care of them. Upon pickup I met a woman named Kris who also helped me this past week with a finial fitter that was giving me trouble. She let me take the lamps out the back way because the lamps are very heavy brass and my car was closer to the back door.

Honestly neither Kris nor the man whom I originally dropped off the lamps with were rude. I can't even imagine what other reviewers are talking about. If the employees were going to be rude to anyone, I would think it would be me because I brought my 8 year old into a store with thousands of dollars worth of antiques. And unlike some of the other reviewers, I found the prices to be VERY reasonable. I paid twice as much for other lamps to be rewired in Ohio.

If you are bringing lamps or shades in to be repaired that means you would rather keep them then buy new ones. Or they are antique and you cannot find similar ones anymore. That means you want quality. These are quality professionals. I understand some reviewers were put off by the prices being different than the estimate. However, quality sometimes costs more. Consider your lighting as an investment. It is the jewelry of your home.

I will be brining any other lamps here that need to be repaired and i wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone who needs work done on their lighting.

I purchased a floor lamp online that came broken. Of course there was no returns from the vendor I bought from so I took it to Phoenix Lamps. They repaired the lamp quickly and for a reasonable price. If you have a lamp that needs repair or rewiring, take it here!!! Friendly and knowledgeable staff too!

Bought a lamp shade here for an old pottery lamp that I have hauled around for years. It looks better now because of the new shade and finial than it ever has.  George took lots of time to find the right shade. It was expensive, but so well made and made in America. I would prefer to shop at a store like this and support a local business rather than shop at a big box store where the quality of an item is not as good and is more than likely made in China. This store has all sorts of beautiful antiques and art. Phoenix if fortunate to have retail like this.

Went there to re-wire a medium size chandelier. They kept me waiting for 20 min. A customer was there talking without a mask. They brought the lamp with the wrong sockets on it. I told them to change the sockets and they agreed. They did not give me a timeline. I left and went to Home Depot where I could find bulbs for the sockets they had installed on the lamp. I went back to the store and told them that I would accept the chandelier with the wrong sockets but asked for a discount. They kept me waiting for 1/2 hour while one employee was just staring at the wall. A homeless was inside without a mask. In the end, after complaining about the wait, they brought the chandelier to me and told me that they could not give me a discount but could replace the sockets then and there. I had already bought bulbs for the new sockets so I declined their offer. I asked them why they did not replace them the first time I came. They charged me 600 dollars for re-wiring and cleaning a medium size chandelier. Crooks and thieves. Not going back ever. Place has just changed ownership and it shows.

I was looking to re-wire my hanging lamp that I purchase in Istanbul, to make the cord longer...the staff was very helpful. I was going to let the shop do the work, bet there was about a 2-3 week wait...so I asked the guy there if I could just buy the parts and change it out myself(..Im pretty handy), and he showed me exactly how. So I saved lots of time and some money Thank you, I will gladly drive to your store from Goodyear for all my lamp needs

Worst company I have ever done business with, never again. Brought in item to be repaired quoted one thing charged three times the quoted price. When I refused to pay they disassembled my lamps and gave them back to me in pieces, with parts missing, we cant even get them back. I have the original quote showing how much but they refused to honor their employees quote who had also quit. Make sure you read all the reviews before you bring anything in here. The company says been in business over 50 years but the man that owns it now has only owned it two years and is running it into the ground.

I have driven by the store so many times I thought I would decide to stop in. I just moved and found a lamp that I was needing a new shade for, so I was hopeful to find one. I walked in to two ladies sitting at the front desk that greeted me. One of the ladies stood up and came around the counter to tell me about the shop, and asked me if I was looking for anything in particular, I decided to say no I'm just going to look around, I've driven by here many times and thought I would finally stop in! I got no response. So I started to walk around and the lady asked me is there anything you collect or are looking for? I than told her what I collect and my style and she asked me a little more about it, it was like I was in a interview. As I walked from room to room, corner to corner admiring the selection, I noticed the lady was following me. Every room I went into she would follow and stand in the corner hovering as if I was going to steal or drop something which I would NEVER do, as I work in the customer service field. As I decided to make my way to the door she than said look at this piece, it is VERY expensive as if she was saying you could not afford this type of stuff. She finally disappeared and I left. I have never felt that way by someone in a store environment, and I will absolutely never come to this store ever again because of the way she made me feel. I am a very reasonable person and I thought maybe I am taking this the wrong way but after much thinking, I think I am pretty valid with my points. It's a shame cause the store was quite beautiful and I am sure they get amazing pieces, but I hope that someone who works here reads this review to understand how a customer felt leaving the store.

I n the Spirit of being honest, I cannot recommend or suggest anyone patronize this business. The owner George does not understand customer service, nor is he interested in providing good quality.  I would steer clear of this place at all costs. I had two torchiere lamps needing repairs and read reviews for Phoenix Lamps. There was nothing but good reviews there, whereas the other business I checked out had all BAD reviews. So, even though Phoenix Lamps was further from my house, I took my lamps there to be fixed. The owner, George, is very personable and went out of his way to make things right when I'd mistakenly been given a lamp that was supposed to have been fixed but wasn't. He came out to my house to pick up the lamp and to return it to me when it was fixed. Phoenix Lamps is also a wondrous antique shop, filled with delights to keep you there for so long it's hard to tear yourself away. I talked with George about some antique serving pieces I had at home that I'd been trying for years to find out about. George searched, and found, the artist who made them and his website. I went on the website and sent the artist an email for further information, which he sent. I am so pleased with this shop. I wish they were closer to my house, but you can bet any lamps repairs will be going there!

Recently dropped an antique pole lamp off for repair. Phx lamp did a great job and repair costs came in 25% less than quoted. It did take nearly 3 weeks for the repairs to be completed but this did not come as a surprise. They informed me of the time frame when I dropped off the lamp and called before they started work and when lamp was complete. Also have a great selection of lighting and antiques in shop. Overall great experience.

A terrible experience. I will never go back for any reason.
What I needed was a socket change-out in two new lamps. The guy behind the counter was very unpleasant about what I wanted but I decided to leave them because another guy (who obviously does the work) said he could do it. They told me one to two weeks and gave me and estimate with a high and low number (shoulda been a sign).
After hearing nothing for two weeks I called them and spoke with a very rude woman who indicated that they were too busy to get the work done and that it would be another week. They were finally ready after the 3rd week and the price I paid was absolutely outrageous. No sense in trying to negotiate because both individals behind the counter were so busy being rude to other customers. I don't understand why they are still in business.
I don't like to speak ill of small independently owned businesses and am not a difficult person to satisfy but my experience with Phoenix Lamps was awful.

I needed to get a lamp repaired that the movers broke in my move.

My experience at Phoenix Lamp and Silver Repair was great.  They were friendly and helpful on the phone before I got there.  They were friendly and helpful in person.  They ended up being able to just bend part of the lamp back into place without having to replace it, and they didn't charge me (which was uber nice -- I never would have known any better if they had just told it had to be replaced, now would I?).   They also have a HUGE selection of lamp shades and lamps and finials and everything else to satisfy your lighting needs.

The people who run this place are honest, totally on top of their game, and nice.  I've brought in lamps that I was sure would need replacing, but they worked their magic - a couple of times within just a few minutes - and have charged me anywhere from $4.00 to $24.00.  I highly recommend taking any of your broken lighting fixtures here (even if they are missing parts).  The inventory of lamps, furniture and antiques is so vast that you will be fully entertained by walking around the store if you have to wait while they repair your fixtures.  A solid five stars!

This place is great!  Easy to find, with a huge selection of shades.  Although I was just coming in for a repair.  I didn't even have to drop off and pick it up.  They fixed my broken lamp switch in under 5 minutes for free.  They couldn't have possibly been nicer or more knowledgeable.  This will be my go-to lamp shop from now on!  And locally owned, to boot.

If you need a lamp repaired here in Phoenix, this is the place for you. Ask for Billy - the owner. (Avoid the grouchy old lady at the front desk: she's mean as a witch in a fairy tale.) I have been a customer tor 10 years. The best thing they do is transform pots, vases, etc. into exquisite, customized lamps. Their selection of shades and finials is off the chart. Highly recommended.

Visited this store twice in the last 2 weeks. While the store has been there for years these are not the same owners I had dealt with in the past. While their shade collection is vast the prices are rather high. The first experience was good but I spent $118 for a shade. Yesterday the experience was not so great- I was told the socket I had on the lamp was incorrect but they could easily change part of it out. 20 minutes later the woman comes back and said they would have to replace entire socket and sat down saying now I can finish my BLT.  When lamp was brought out she got up and took me to the shade collection- not very helpful or pleasant like the previous visit. I picked out an $ 86 shade and went to check out where the staff at the counter was busy on the computer. Then I was told the charge for changing out the light socket was $9- I suggested that they might throw that in for for free since I was a repeat customer - no deal.  At the same time another customer came in returning 2 shades she had purchased several days earlier that did not fit her lamp. She was told they did not do refunds but only issued store credits.  I will be going elsewhere next time.

george and billy are complete jerks. they are the dumbest people i have ever done business with. completely ignorant and inept. unorganized. unprofessional. distasteful. not sure what decade they're running their business from. their accounting system is a nightmare. you'll be charged for the same thing multiple times, and possibly a year later. i would rather drive to another state to fix my lamps than drive 5 minutes to their location. i have never left a place of business so heated before in my life. not sure how anyone would give them their business. i know i will never set foot in there again. they are the most ungrateful people i have ever met. when someone is giving you their business, might i add thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars, what would ever motivate you to speak distaste fully of a customer. they disgust me. btw, if i could give zero out of five stars, i would. will definitely not recommend. i would never urge another person to enter their shop and be subject to their behavior.
