If there were six stars, I'd give them to Elvis. Ten stars: same. He's the best, most responsible, most talented contractor we've had the good fortune to hire. He's simply amazing.

Our work with Elvis started at the end of a major rewire. We had a basement that needed sheetrock around a large existing room as well as some new framing. Elvis' estimate was fair and reasonable: he clearly knew how to think about the work, to see around corners I couldn't see around, and I was confident in hiring him that he would do a good job.

It wasn't until he started working that I realized how much I'd underestimated both the project's complexity and Elvis' skills. Turns out a lot of the framing was out of level. That the wire runs had created many complicated issues. And that some of the things we had only partly thought through would take a lot more time and effort than we'd thought.

Other contractors might have handled these challenges differently, but Elvis approach was completely unselfish and focused on the best outcome for the project. He took every challenge as an opportunity to make things better. Turns out, he's also an excellent carpenter, so that entailed everything from making beautiful built-in work surfaces to finding ways to incorporate the huge redwood beams in our ceilings and walls into the finished work. He even suggested and implemented a lovely stucco finish over the perfectly-installed sheetrock to bring things together.

The result is that what started as a serviceable basement is now a lovely cellar. What's important about that, beyond the craftsmanship, is that the outcomes are really all due to Elvis' great eye and his patient, thoughtful work. Elvis is a master craftsman. I can't recommend him highly enough. And we'll always be thankful to him for his lovely work.

Don't underestimate Elvis' abilities!

Elvis saved my tail!  I hired a highly rated Yelp* contractor and had to let him go.  Elvis came in and saved the day!  He isn't only the King of Sheetrock, he is the King of Carpentry and Concrete!

I was remodeling a 19' x 22' room.  Ultimately a $40K+ job.  Problem was, it was originally a patio that was closed-in and converted into an addition to the house.  It was originally done on the cheap and it looked terrible!  The slab on grade floor that had sunken 3 inches on one whole side.  Using self leveling concrete would have added 4,000 lbs to the foundation (not good on a steep hillside). So, Elvis mixed wood stringers and plywood along with self-leveling concrete to reduce weight and delivered a floor that even surprised the owner of the hardwood flooring company who saw the original floor and didn't think it could be leveled with the perfection achieved by Elvis.

I'm the son of a building contractor and grew up on job sites.  This job had me really worried!  Unlike my initial contractor, Elvis spoke with confidence, backed by experience.  Furthermore, his work was exacting.  He takes pride in his work, the sign of a true craftsman!

The floor was only the foundation of his work.  Once leveled, he also re-framed and expanded a laundry area, installed a solid staircase and landing (to code), removed and sealed off an unnecessary exterior entrance door (interior drywall, insulation and new exterior siding), installed a wider door to the garage, and of course installed drywall and texture throughout.

Elvis listens closely and follows your directions.  Most of all, he is honest, hard working and inventive.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to friends and family!  You can't go wrong is you hire The King !!!

We hired Elvis based on his stellar Yelp reviews, and wow, the reviewers knew what they were talking about.  His work was truly amazing.  Our 1950's house is about half plaster and half sheet rock, but he did a great job with all of it.

Our house is in the hills, and we had a major remodel done a few years back, which resulted in cracks appearing in the walls and ceilings over the last 17 years that we've lived in the house.  Elvis did an amazing job of fixing ALL of it, and he took incredible pride in his work.  There was a stairwell that had some odd patching that had been done to it over the years, and I told him it was OK to just repair the cracks and move on, since it was just a stairwell.  He thought about it for a while, and said that he could level the entire stairwell (without extra charge), and make it look a lot better.  And he was absolutely right - we were so pleasantly surprised by the results.

On top of it all, Elvis is a really great guy.  I can't imagine how you could possibly find anyone better for your sheet rocking, taping, and repair needs.

We had some water damage from a leaky roof. Another company took out the moldy drywall and add Elvis came in to put new insulation and drywall up. He also installed new trim around a window.

Elvis was easy to work with did a really nice job. I would call him again in a second.

Elvis was very good about promptly returning phone calls, showing up on time, and he did very good work.  My project was rather small, repairing ceilings which had to be opened up to reroute wiring and junction boxes for new lighting, and it only took him two visits.  I've had issues recently getting contractors out for jobs they deem too small as a result of high demand for services during this construction/real estate boom.  So it was nice the Elvis found some time to work me into his schedule.

Elvis deserves 10 stars! Elvis repaired multiple holes in our Lathe and Plaster walls and did it with beautiful craftsmanship and he was easy to get to come to my home. This project that involved more than 20 wall repairs necessitated that he come more than once in order to get our permits signed off. Elvis was super fast, and always gracious. Elvis IS the Sheetrock King, and when we get around to Sheet rocking...well Elvis will do our whole home.

Elvis and his crew were awesome!  He really takes a great deal of pride in his work.  He knows what he is talking about and, more than that, enjoys the process.  He likes to find creative solutions to problems that get the job done without costing you a ton of money.  My home needed to repaired after water damage, and he made me feel comfortable throughout the entire process.  He worked with me to come up with cost-effective solutions, always aware of my budget.  The end result is a house that looks even better than before at a price that was very manageable.

Elvis was also great about handling the additional repairs I needed once he arrived.  Basically, once I saw how great he was, I kept asking him to do more!  He handled everything calmly and professionally, even coming in on a weekend to finish a project for me.

I have already recommended Elvis to other people and would gladly do so again.  A true professional who knows what he is talking about and takes your opinion and limitations seriously.  I would gladly use him again!

This review is long over-due. Elvis took my garage--which had previously been nothing more than wood studs--and turned it into a palace. Every inch of my garage/man cave/office was built custom by Elvis. He guided, steered, and helped me understand the implications of every decision that was made. He helped me to understand where to save costs, and where it made sense to spend a bit more.

It was a big project, as it took all-in roughly 6 weeks, and he was there for me every step of the way.

An example of some of Elvis' extras:
- he's quite the carpenter and build a custom enclosure for my network / server equipment
- built custom in-wall shelves
- built custom trim throughout the room
- built a custom mailbox which matched the room
- he epoxy'd my cement floor
- he made an accent wall of Venetian plaster (in case you haven't noticed, he's a bit of an artist)

Elvis is the f'in man. Period.

We had Elvis do the following work for us:

- Patch some holes in drywall
- Fix some loose plaster on the outside of the house
- Take out a door and sheetrock over it
- Re float a wall and ceiling that was done poorly by someone else

He also did a venetian plaster accent wall as a bonus which turned out amazing!

Overall he did great work and the end result was amazing! Also compared with other bids I received he was very reasonably priced. Would highly recommend and will use him again for any sheet rock or finishing work needs I have in the future.

Elvis came in and installed soundproofing to our unit, which is the downstairs unit of a duplex.  He was very clear in communicating his work, options, and very easy to work with.  Fair prices, highly recommended.

So after 6 months I came out to my office to do a good cleaning when I truly noticed what a poor job in the sheet rock which was done.  I was cleaning a few webs from corners and noticed all the imperfections.  Going to attempt to attach pictures.  Now I have to find someone to fix.  I made a huge mistake in hiring this company.

Splendid work!  Elvis was general contractor to rebuild our in-law cottage.  This meant tearing out walls, old plaster & lath, and rebuilding walls & floor.  Elvis did it all -- outstanding, solid work. No cheezy shortcuts, no mickey-mouse weak spots.  His walls are plumb, square, and true.  And what a pleasure to work with:  trustworthy, funny, intelligent, widely traveled.  Elvis is beyond the King if Sheetrock ... he  works wonders in walls!

Five stars for Elvis. He was quick to show up and give a fair bid. He started working right away and I was very impressed with his Sheetrock skills and communication. He's amazing and all the other contractors loved working with him.

There were a few carpentry/design issues that he brought to my attention and he made some suggestions. I followed Elvis' advice on the changes and the floor plan and skylight look infinitely better. All along the project we had to make cost effective decisions because of our old Victorian vs my budget. Elvis helped with that too.

My crew was sad to see him go when he finished. I can't say enough great things about him.

Thanks Elvis!!

If you need to contract someone for Sheetrock, you could not find anyone better than Elvis of King of Sheetrock! We hired Elvis to retexture our entire interior home--a big and daunting task for us because of how invasive resurfacing can be and what a nightmare if not done right. I spoke to a number of Sheetrock contractors over two years before circling back to King of Sheetrock when I was ready. Elvis was excellent: he is smart, very precise with his applications from padding and protection through his level of finish, professional, timely, good guy and easy to work with, takes pride in his work, and is very well priced. His work completely transformed our house and was, without a doubt, well worth the investment. He made astonishingly little dust (because he takes pride and care in application) and was kind enough to send photos of his progress along the way. If you are on the fence about whether or not his work is worth the investment, I'd say IT IS, and if you are wondering who to go with, book Elvis.

King of Sheet Rock is right! We had a DIY project that we realized that we couldn't finish. My husband had done a herculean job remodeling our garage, including hanging most of the sheet rock, and when we were trying to mud and tape it, we realized that we really suck at it. So I called three drywall contractors. Elvis was number three to arrive. The first two sort of ran away screaming after seeing the project. Elvis was very calm and non-judgy. I tried to explain that we had done a not-so-great job hanging the drywall in the first place and we certainly don't expect it to end up perfect, but Elvis was confident he could make it nice. Made it nice, he has. The first two drywall contractors I interviewed kinda made me feel crappy about our DIY efforts, but Elvis just came in, took over, and saved our bacon. All hail the King.

Elvis, the King of SheetRock, did a fantastic job sheet rocking my dining room ceiling.
The ceiling was vey cracked lath and plaster and he covered it nicely, He kept the  contours of the recessed wall on the ceiling, patched the walls very well, and painted the room excellently with the 3 colors I chose. He offered good suggestions to help me with decisions about the room.  He cleaned up very nicely after himself.
I would recommend him highly as he did a great job.

I have to say I am impressed.     Elvis is the king.      This guy actually has the real skills (20 years experience).     He tells you like it is, gives a very fair price and then does the job.   No mess, no fuss, done!

He did a great job of putting a nice two layer skim coat on some old lath and plaster walls.     No sanding needed because he was able to get it super smooth while wet on the second coat.    Awesome job!

I would highly recommend him and my only regret is that I did not tip him more.

So thankful to have found Elvis for more reasons than one.  Not only did he perform the job we originally hired him for well, he also helped make sure that many other jobs around the house turned out okay.

We originally called Elvis to drywall a closet that we had to blow out to expand our master bathroom and he was extremely responsive and came out right away to give us a quote which was more than reasonable.  We ended up going with someone else purely because we didn't want to deal with the headache of coordinating the plumber, electrician, etc. and ended up hiring a general contractor who would take care of the whole project instead.  However, we had a bunch of other things we needed done in the house and decided to ask him for quotes since he said they can do pretty much anything.  We decided to start with matching the bedroom floors to the floors in the rest of the house and his quote was significantly less than a few other quotes we got so we decided to go with him.

The day the job started, Elvis and his crew arrived on time and started walking me through all of the options.  Since we had purchased floating bamboo floors and we currently had the original hardwood in the bedrooms, there were many different ways to do it and they patiently walked me through all of the options.  They even walked me through the options that would have been less expensive and make them less money but I really got the sense that they just wanted to be honest and provide me with the highest quality of work.  In the end, they recommended that I not rip out the original floors as it would cost significantly more and reassured me that floating the floors on top of the original flooring would still look okay.  His workers were so kind and respectful and went the extra mile to fix a few squeaky areas in the floors as well as a few other things that the last contractor screwed up.  In the end, they were right and the floors match perfectly with the flooring throughout the rest of the house and the quality was superb.

While Elvis and his crew were here working on the floors, our bathroom was also being worked on by the general contractors we had hired.  Without getting into a long story, let's just say Elvis saved us from ending up with a bathroom of poor quality by notifying us that certain things were not being done properly (which we never would have known otherwise).  He even came by late at night after I had finished work to help point out to me what was wrong so that I could contact the company-not for money, not for his benefit, not for any other reason than to help because it was the right thing to do.  It turns out the company was in fact poorly managing the project and things are now back on track.

It is nice to know that there are still honest people out there but it is just plain shocking to know that there are honest, good contractors out there-Elvis and his crew are definitely one of them.  Now we know we have someone we can trust to not try to screw us and to provide us with quality work so we plan on having him install our windows and flooring in the bathroom-I will update the review once those projects are finished but I have no doubt that they will provide us with the same quality work that they have so far.

We remodeled a 1927 house in Sea Cliff which involved ripping up almost every lathe and plaster wall in our home. After firing our expensive general contractor halfway through the job, we decided to finish the remodel ourselves. We interviewed eight drywall guys from Angie's List before looking on Yelp and finding Elvis. I called him on a Saturday and he was at the house within an hour of calling him. He was easy to work with, reliable, had a good sense of humor, and most importantly, he took great pride in his work. It was a no-brainer, particularly compared to the other guys we met. After a few weeks (it was a big job), Elvis put a level 5 finish on almost every wall in our house at a very reasonable price considering the high level of quality. We're very happy and will be calling him again when we remodel the kitchen and bathrooms next year.

One thing to keep in mind ... I didn't realize that Elvis is also a painter. We had already committed to another painter, but I would have used him otherwise. However, because he was so easy to work with, we asked him to install some crown molding in three bedrooms. He did it in a day and it was great. The bottom line is that I would highly recommend Elvis for any drywall/plaster work but don't be shy to use him for other jobs as well. You won't regret it.

You know how everyone always says, don't hire family, and you say, no, this is different and we would never fall out over business: well it won't be, and it wasn't. So there I stood, looking at a half done sheetrock job, a stack of sheetrock, exposed wires and gutted kitchen, and I wondered to myself how I was going to get out of this mess. Turns out that two competing quotes later I had Elvis to the rescue. One man, accomplished in one day, what three could not do in a month.  Elvis is not just the King of Sheet-rock, he is an able carpenter, can GC, and is nothing but flexible, able and professional. Thank you Elvis for saving me from my own terrible mistakes.

I used Elvis, King of Sheetrock, to remove a large living room lath and plaster ceiling.  Elvis reframed the ceiling, added some additional support that the ceiling needed, then sheetrocked and textured the new ceiling.  He was very easy to work with and did a great job.  I would use him again for future sheetrock work.

Elvis really is the King of (sheet) rock!  Really good, he stepped into a project for me and in a very timely and reasonably priced way sheet rocked my kitchen, and bathroom.
I would highly recommend him.  He also does plaster walls, tiles and painting.  Actually I think he can do most carpentry too, including stucco.

I was very pleased with work that Elvis recently did to help dampen sound in a bedroom by installing Quietrock, a special kind of soundproof drywall. The installation was in the bedroom of a small rental property I own. The tenant could apparently hear the details of the conversations of her duplex neighbor, through the walls and ceiling. She was going to be out of town for a few days, so that was the window of time we had to get this messy drywall and painting work done.

We had lined up someone else (recommended by a realtor) to do the work, but he cancelled on us the day before the work was supposed to start (lack of communication by him led him to underestimate the amount of work the project required, and he couldn't end up fitting it into his schedule). Just as well, because Elvis was so communicative and easy to work with. I found him on Yelp, and I sent him a message through his website the afternoon before the work was to start. He called me back promptly, and agreed to meet me at the apartment later that evening to give us an estimate of cost and time. He presented a couple of options to help dampen the sound between the duplex neighbors, and we went with the less extensive and expensive option, which he estimated would reduce sound by 60%. It was still expensive, at least from the perspective of new landlords, but I knew Quietrock was expensive he broke down the costs in a way that made sense and was transparent. Since time was so short, we went with Elvis instead of getting multiple quotes for the work. Even so, he struck us as trustworthy and thoughtful, and overall a good person.

He was able to get started a couple of days later, after ordering/purchasing the supplies he needed for the soundproofing. I wish the work had been able to get done in a faster timeframe, since the tenant ended up having to stay out of the apartment longer than we initially expected. But I don't perceive that to be Elvis' fault; he was working diligently, even through the weekend and Thanksgiving. Some aspects of the work may have gone faster if he had worked with a partner, but I believe he worked alone. I think the sound dampening has been even better than he initially estimated, but I haven't checked with the tenant for a while. While the work was ongoing, he was communicative and checked in, and asked for feedback a couple of times when he had to make a decision that would affect the tenant.

I would not hesitate to recommend him to a friend for similar work, or for painting (which he also did on the newly installed drywall).

I am a general contractor and have selected The King for several drywall and painting jobs. We also had Elvis do some exterior stucco repair work on a home where we had insulation blown in from the exterior.  He matched the existing texture perfectly.

When Elvis is in the building we are always impressed with his professionalism and willingness to work with us toward providing the highest quality possible to our customers.

Elvis has experience in all types of drywall and painting techniques and it shows in every job he has completed for us.

Not only does he do top notch work, he's a forthright and kind person.  Beyond those qualities and strong work ethic he is also honest and trustworthy.  When I leave a job in Elvis' capable hands I absolutely have nothing to worry about.

Not only do I highly recommend him to you..we have work for Elvis scheduled in the weeks ahead!

We moved some interior walls at home, enlarged one window, and also exposed some horizontal support beams, as they had to be made longer.
I hired Elvis to restore all interior drywall (install drywall, patch, smooth, spray knockdown texture).
I found him on Yelp. I always look for individual contributors vs companies, since their prices are lower.
And I was right again: Elvis gave me a bid that was lower than the other two, so I hired him.
Even though I was not in a hurry, Elvis started work on the next day, and completed it in a day and a half, working overnight,  to free up his weekend.
I was impressed when I showed up on a Sunday morning (we don't live in this house): the job was finished, the texture on the wall was still freshly wet, the floor was clean, and 3 plastic bags were waiting outside, filled with construction debris and cover up materials.
He was able to match the texture nicely; the transition was not smooth in one location, but I  sanded it once it dried up, and now its good.
Thank you Elvis for the stress-free experience!

I called Elvis for a sheet rock job around the light switch that an electrician had left behind.  He came over that same day and was very friendly.  He started the job just after the weekend and did a really nice job.  I left the keys along with a check for him in the morning.  He called me on my cell phone when he was done... that's it!  He even was kind enough to notice another small patch job that I had on a completely seperate wall and painted that patch too.  That's really going above and beyond.  I will def call him again for other jobs around the house.  Thanks Elvis!
