HISTORY

Established in 2012.
The owner, Stan Brimley, was born in 1951. His mother was born in Latuda, Utah, a town that no longer exists. His grandpa, Roy Hanberg, had gone there to work in the mines. Roy Hanberg was a carpenter; he could do anything and could make anything. He traveled all over the west building and fixing things, he even went to Mexico to work. When my mother was a little girl, Montana was opened up for homesteading. Since Grandpa Roy could build anything it seemed natural for him to take over 160 acres in the middle of nowhere with a chance to improve the property which would allow him to keep the land. He built a house and barns and outbuildings including a chicken coop which was a work of art. He even built a root cellar. He made his own doors and cabinets into the wall from scratch. Everything was meticulous. His tools were simple: a skill saw, hand drills, a table saw, and hand planers. He would buy a stack of wood and sort it and cut it up into anything he needed.

These guys seem set up for big, contractor orders. Not for individual homeowners. Never fixed my dinged door.

I ordered 3 new interior doors from this company (shaker 5-panel). The office people were friendly and the doors were cheaper than anywhere else. But the rest was a nightmare.

I came to get my doors when they told me they were ready for pickup. 2 were immediately given to me and loaded. The 3rd never showed up. I had to go into the warehouse and ask and was told they were fixing it... ok. Waited 10 mins and someone finally brought out the door.

Apparently, the door had a sizable gash and the fix was a patch of bondo. That's fine, but when they bring the door out, the patch hasn't even been sanded completely flush with the door. When I point it out, the worker asks you want me to fix it right? Uhhhhh, yes. I want my brand new door to look brand new.

He brings it back and I talk to the manager or the warehouse who tells me they can get it to me the next day.

The next day comes and goes. Then 2 more do. No word. I call them and get transferred to the warehouse manager and have to leave a voicemail. Finally get a call telling me to come get it.

I drive back down and take a look at the door and somehow it's WORSE. I ask to speak with the manager about it. She listens and says they can order me a new door and get it there the next day. I got the feeling she had bigger problems to deal with, though.

Several more days go by, and still no call or email. This is now 3+ weeks since I first picked up the other 2 doors. I called the office and told them I needed to know what was going on today. They offered to call me back (and actually did). Turns out the new door was never ordered... they offered to order it for me and have it in a few days. No thanks! I asked for a refund (even this was a bit difficult) and ordered that door and my casing/baseboard from another company.

I'd have given fewer stars, but the people in the office were friendly and they gave me a refund without much issue. Still, I'll pay more and go somewhere else next time.

Ordered my cape cod casing since 2/02/21, today is 3/30/21. Called in after 5 weeks of being patience for warehouse to call me and to let me know it's ready to pick up. It's about to be 2 months now and still my order is no where to find complete for pick up. Holding up my project and wasting my time. There's no accommodation to their lack of professional service. Very frustrating. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

As a DYI I had a lot of questions regarding doors, trim and casings. We were buying a house looking to do a remodel. Their staff was knowledgeable and willing to take the time to explain everything. I started the process prior to buying a house and it was nearly 4 months later until we moved forward. I asked if they could deliver and they delivered baseboards the very next day.

I would highly recommend Door & Trim Specialists.

This was by far one of the most horrible experiences I have ever had.  I have never had an interaction go so south as it did with this business.  The only positive was my initial interaction with Intizara on the very first in store visit to sit down and look at doors for my renovation.  Once we left the store, it was downhill from there.  First off, the communication with this business was HORRIBLE.  Once we decided on what doors we wanted, it took days and days for them to get back with a quote.  We wasted about 3-4 weeks of time just waiting for them to get back to us.  Secondly, we could not get a straight answer as to when install would be.  Intizara, the sales associate, told us one thing while Ellen told us another.  They ended up showing up with the doors on a day we were told would NOT be the delivery day and thus were not prepared.  It just got worse from there.  The craftsmanship of the doors was mediocre at best and the finishing touches on doors were poorly done.  For example, when looking closely at the French doors, the weather stripping was bulging out from under the frame around the windows which is just tacky and unprofessional.  The install was an absolute train wreck.  The installer ended up having to cut into my wall to fit the new frame but failed to prep the work area and got dirt and plaster all over my living room.  Any qualified worker would have taped off the section first.  My living room was completely trashed after the French door install was done and it took me three hours to clean up.  They didn't caulk in the frame or patch the drywall they broke off in the process.  Nor did they texture all the nail holes in the casing.  Again, just total lack of professionalism.  It was utterly disappointing.  The only redeeming thing quality of the install was that the installer was able to get a frame in place in a very challenging doorway.   I called Stan Brimley the owner to voice my concerns.  His lack of customer service was shocking and his response to my concerns over finishing the door was that's not what we do, we install doors. We don't caulk in or texture.  To me, if your name is stamped on the product, I'd want to make sure I left a good product and the customer was happy.  Why in the world would I pay $800 to install three sets of doors and then have to pay someone else to come in and finish them?!  Stan came to the sight the following morning to inspect the work. I told him I did not want them to finish install on the other two doors and would like partial refund and he agreed.  However the saga continued when I was waiting for the refund which over a week.  I have been in business in the valley for 23 years and have never dealt with someone more unprofessional.  The experience was traumatizing.  To add insult to injury, when I texted both Stan and Ellen to inquire as to the status of my refund, they told me to stop bothering them and that they had already refunded me.  After pointing out that they had mistaken me with another customer and addressing me by the wrong name, they sheepishly apologized and issued the refund.  Just a terrible experience.  And I write this not looking to sabotage their business. I write this because I want them to improve.  There needs to be accountability and if it takes public acknowledgment, so be it.  I will never use this business again.

Called up and ordered a 28 door. Rep on the phone said he would send an invoice but never did. I called back a few days later to get the invoice and again never sent. Went to pick up door 2 weeks later and they made a 32 door. The receptionist said to talk to the owner about a price adjustment. Owner tried to make it my fault that their rep ordered a 2'8 door instead of a 28 door. He straight up said well I am not just going to eat it on this door and would not give any adjustment. Poor customer service, poor response, and poor leadership.

they offer on website installation service, but they refuse to install crown molding unless you buy that from them. What an interesting business!

This was the most horrible experience I've ever had from a supplier. I ordered 6 new windows for a block home from Julissa there at Door & Trim Specialist for a customer of mine. Julissa ordered 2 windows in correctly. The small bathroom window was supposed to be glazed so no one could c in from the outside. Well it wasn't glazed. The biggest most costly mistake was the largest window that was to be installed in the living room was ordered in correctly. The window measures 6' height by 5' wide. Well Julissa ordered it 5' height by 6' width. I first called her & she was really rude on the phone so I drove to their store in East Mesa from Avondale. She started to blame me for her mistake & started using profanity. What set me off was when she told me ( I fucked up ) 1st off this was totally unprofessionalism, rude & disrespectful. Needless to say Stan the owner was sitting there in the lobby with another gentleman & Instead of de-escalating the situation he jumps out of his chair stands behind & tells me ( to get the fuck out of his store b4 he physically removed me from his store ) needless to say I called his bluff & told him he would have to physically remove me from his store because I wasn't leaving without the correct window or a refund. Well neither of the 2 happened so I had to eat the cost of nearly $500. Never will I use this suppler again.

This was a great place.  My baseboards and crown molding was way below my budget.  I was able to upgrade my baseboard to a more luxurious one that I loved.  Thanks for the great experience.

Website is DoorANDtrimspecialists so need to fix name. I found them on Craigslist.com.  I went to visit there shop, it's very nice, well stocked, everything you need to make some choices.  I have 2 doors that were going to be barn doors but, chose to have them Pre Hung into a frame and just replace my old doors.  I called 3 other guys on Craigslists, all unlicensed that all apparently talk to each other and all quoted me super high prices, one was proud he gets $500 to swap put front doors (like I care)....I was called all kind of names when I questioned how these 3 arrived at their pricing.  CL has some great vendors, but these unlicensed door guys should be avoided.  I emailed David at Door and Trim , he got right back with me, they honored their quote, I paid them, I dropped off my doors and will pick up in a few days.  If you are a DIYourselfer or a Contractor(competent contractor) this is a great place to start.

Great place to get baseboards, doors, and windows. Prices are super low and extremely competitive with chain stores. Great fast service.  I would use them again.

I am beyond THRILLED with the baseboards and crown molding I purchased here!  I'm in Ahwatukee and was hesitant to drive out to Mesa to buy baseboards/molding, but the website indicated the prices were far better than what I was finding at Home Depot and Lowes.  I am so glad I made the drive!  I ended up with gorgeous baseboards and crown molding at a fraction of the price that I was going to pay for basic baseboards at Home Depot!  So worth the drive!  Stan was amazing.  So kind and professional.  I told him what I wanted, he showed me the best options for what I wanted (and didn't overwhelm with all possible options).  It was easy to select, easy to buy and even easier to have delivered!  I will definitely be a repeat customer and give Door & Trim Specialists my highest recommendation.  I love shopping at businesses like this one that actually appreciate your business and have excellent customer service!

I thought these guys might have it together when I bought some molding from them. So I ordered two doors from them and asked them to hang them. First, one door was the wrong size even though I gave two people the correct measurements, the owner Stan Brimley blamed his incompetent staff, one being he son Spencer. So an old cranky guy hung the other door, a solid core door for the guest bedroom, the thing doesn't swing very well and creaks terribly, I shook my head. The correct size bathroom door finally came and  the installer tacked the trim on the inside, slid  it into the opening, tacked on the outside trim and drove in a bunch of staples in the frame. When I looked at it the frame was not in square and it would not swing, you would have to push it continuously to open or close it, it was terrible! A well hung door should respond to a slight nudge. Sent Spencer a text asking to have someone come and fix it. They sent out the same guy who installed it, he said to add some lube to it, blaming the hinges. I've hung enough doors to know better. He left and said he would have his supervisor come look at it. Almost two weeks go by and I hear nothing, I sent the sales person Spencer Brimley a text, he said he was out of town and would follow up when he gets back. Well he sent me to his father the owner and he said with an email, the door was up to professional standards and that nothing needs to be done and that it's a heavy door and I should consider buying ball baring hinges! I called him and told him it was a terrible installation and that I have never in my life had a door in any house I lived in or business I worked in, swing so poorly, it's unacceptable! He said he'd stop by in an hour and take a look, he's 10 mins from my home. An hour and 20 minutes go by and I call, he says he will be there in about 10 mins, no apology for being late. Short story, he brings some lube, looks at the door and tells me that's normal and he's not going to have it fixed or refund the install fee. I was so pissed! He has no clue about doors apparently, or just a cheap bastard, the installer was his best he said and I'm just going to have to eat it. I fixed it in an hour, I could have done it faster if I didn't have to take it apart. They blamed the weight of the door, the hinges and at the same time calling it normal and professional all with a snarky attitude. Disgusting. In closing, it's sad that you can't hire a pro to do good work without being ripped off these days. Like the old saying, if you want something done right, unfortunately, you'll have to do it yourself. Take your money elsewhere.
