Diamondback Air's owner, John, has been in the HVAC business for 40 years. With a mind of an engineer, John has earned a reputation among his customers, peers, and even insurance companies for being able to solve some of the most complex and intricate problems with cooling and heating. Diamondback's reputation has always been important to John. Most of his technicians spend a year with John as his apprentice before they service customers on their own.

We replaced TWO air handlers and air conditioners during the month of July 2013. Luckily we found Diamondback Air recommended from a friend or ours. John, the owner was very clear and provided in-depth information and recommendations. We had pretty much done our homework prior to speaking to him so the research and his opinion made our decision easy. The staff consisting of Dustin, Andy, Mark, Billy, Sergio were EXCELLENT! They worked tirelessly on very old 1984 systems and encountered several additional problems, leaking water, rust, additional sheet metal work and electrical work without a complaint....they simply fixed the problem to make it all work with no additional cost to us! Frankly, we did not think there was a company nor it staff left in American that actually did what they said they were going to do and did it well. It was a very pleasant surprise. The old systems were hauled out, house and garage was cleaned up and the two systems are working great. Could not recommend it highly enough.

If zero stars was an option this would be the most appropriate rating. This is a nearly four week ordeal to fix an air conditioner peppered with extremely poor technician service, lies, and no success in fixing air conditioner. Run to anyone else!!!!

They came the day I called, and fixed our AC unit the next morning. I have owned 3 homes in the 15 years that I have lived in Arizona and Diamondback Air has been the only company that I have ever had to call, they always take care of me. I highly recommend these guys!!!!

In September 2009 our A/C unit stopped working.  I called a few companies, including Diamondback Air and talked to the owner, John Herman.  He was very helpful over the phone so I agreed to have his technician come out the next day to take a look at my unit.  When he arrived he determined that the fan motor had seized up and needed to be replaced.  Luckily, it was under warranty so it should have been a quick and inexpensive fix.  The technician called John for a quote and he quoted me $485.  $485 to replace a fan motor that was under warranty and would only take 30 or so minutes to replace!  And that was on top of the service fee I had to pay.  I immediately called John myself and he gave me some song and dance trying to justify the ridiculous cost.  I told him I would hire someone else.  I paid them their $70 service fee and sent the technician on his way.  I immediately called several other well known reputable companies and got quotes over the phone to replace the motor.  All the quotes were SEVERAL HUNDRED dollars less than what John had tried to get out of me.  The next morning another company came out and replaced the motor and was in and out in under an hour.  They charged me $110 total.  I'm just sorry Diamondback Air got $70 of my money.  In my opinion, John Herman and Diamondback Air have shady business practices.  I don't know if John felt he could prey on someone because it was hot and maybe I was desperate enough to pay the money to have my A/C work again or if it is because I am female and he thought I wouldn't know any better.  Either way, I am disgusted by the whole thing.  I also found out afterwards that their license was suspended at the time.  I advise everyone to stay far away from this company.  There are far more honest businesses out there that will get the job done professionally without attempting to rip off their customers.

John saved me today! Not only was he friendly and professional, but he fixed my heat in no time. He was here exactly when he said he'd be, which was only hours after I called on a Saturday! I recommend Diamondback Air to anyone!

Just had my first experience with Diamondback Air.  As a property manager in AZ, I work with a lot of contractors and I am overly impressed with this company.  Within hours the owner was helping my tenants get their A/C up and running because their baby had a fever.  They really do care, and honor their work.   They will be getting much more business from me in the future.

I was lucky to make contact with John Herman of Diamondback Home Services again.  He installed some great Amana AC units in my house 9 years ago.  Unfortunately I lost track of John somehow and I contacted another company to do annual maintenance.  The other company didn't know the Amana brand well and repaired the units with costly add-ons that weren't needed and actually seemed to cause a problem with the communication between the units and the thermostats.  John and Mark had to properly cleaned both units and quickly identified the problem caused by the other company.  They fixed the issue with original OEM parts and the units are working great again.   I highly recommend John for his product knowledge, professionalism and great service.

This company saved me over $500.00 from another Magic heating/ac company because they  knew what they were doing.  After paying many years to maintain my heating/ac units , they never cleaned them.  Guess what, dust and dirt over time causes damage.  This company actually cleans the units.  Excellent job John and Chris.

Unfortunately, my AC unit stopped working recently. I looked around for a local fix. John (the owner) came out within an hour and had the ac working in no time. He took the time to educate me on how the whole outdoor condenser unit worked. I really appreciate the effort John! I will be recommending him to all of my friends and family!

John came highly recommended through the Nextdoor app and he was the last one of several companies to  give us an estimate. He was very thorough and informative explaining what he could do for us in replacing our a/c unit. Already got er done last week and have since recommended him to our friend in Tempe. I own a property in Tempe AZ.  The thermostat gave a message that the air filter needed to be changed.  I gave the tenant the name and phone to Diamondback Air since they were on the internet as a BBB member.  The guy came out, reset the thermostat and told our tenant how to change out the filter.  When the tenant asked him if he was changing out the filter he said no because he did not have that size and charged $89.  I called the phone number and they said they were sorry but that I would have to call back some other time because that was a service call number and there was no one there that could help me.  This place is pretty bad.

Remember your van is a moving build board. You may want to refrain from weaving in and out of lanes and driving at least 85 because you flew past me and I was doing 75. Your driving certainly wouldn't make me want to use your company when you clearly have aggression and/or low tolerance issues.

What a fantastic company.  After some initial communication hiccups, John (Owner) and Julian (Senior technician) did an amazing job of diagnosing our problem, and fixing it in a cost effective manner.   They are knowledgable, trustworthy and a company that keeps promises and does everything they can to make it right.  I would recommend them to anybody.

I had diamondback air out on Saturday and was told I needed a new fan installed.  Since my hvac unit was actually still working we asked them to come back Friday morning so we could go run some errands that afternoon. They confirmed the technician would be back today at 6 am to install the fan and clean the condenser coils. The technician did not show up at 6am, so I waited 20 minutes to call the number on the website. When I called no one answered so I left a message. It is now 7am and still no technician and no call back. I do not recommend anyone use this company.

Have you EVER been called by a technician at a company and berated for complaining that twice they No Call/No Showed for scheduled work?  This happened to us courtesy of Chris at Diamondback Air.  Have used them exclusively in the past with all good experiences.  Last time was 2013.  they failed to show up/call with an explanation or offer to reschedule on July 1st for a repair that was not an emergency.  After we called and spoke to Olivia she insisted they would show up on July 3 between 9-10 am even though it was Sunday.  Once again no contact, I called and left a message upset this happened the second time.  30 minutes later we get a call from Chris yelling at us that Olivia was doing the best she could and this job required 2 technicians.  So why was it scheduled for a Sunday? We told them we were done with Diamondback Air.

Diamondback Air is quick to sell you a brand new system, but to get them out to repair it is another story.  Excuses galore, never on time, you are expected to wait for them regardless of what time they show, and instead of phone calls, text messages!  Very and totally unprofessional!  Do not use these guys, as its a total frustrating experience.  They have honored their warranty thus far, but be advised, warranty work is their very last priority.  Our system, a Goodman DSXC 16, a 4ton split system with gas heater was installed last year after I was told our 7 year old Trane was not worth fixing.  I knew with R22 becoming more expensive and going away in 2020, it was a pay me now or later thing.  Incidentally, quote for a new compressor, labor only as compressor would be under warranty from Trane was $3,000.00.  Very high price I found out later.  No a/c, we were hot etc, I made a terrible decision to replace and use these guys to do it!  Real quick to install I must say, but I also paid $7,001.64, and they never waited on me for payment, they had their money before install was complete!  Last Friday, after a power outage, this new system went out.  Over the phone with the owner he talked me through replacing fuses, pulling a capacitor, testing capacitor, replacing capacitor etc only to diagnose a circuit board as the problem.  Was told they would be out Sunday or Monday morning at the latest that's a quote from the owner John.  Never showed until after 6 pm Monday, Chris replaced the capacitor, and circuit board on the condenser unit, also a fuse on the air handler.  System came on, Chris left.  2 hours later, system stopped cooling, back to our 100 sq ft spare room with a cheap 5000 btu window unit that's 7 years old, cost 85 bucks and blows cold.  Spend 7 grand and don't even get a year of cold out of it.  Ironic.  Called again, was told Chris would be out Tuesday, no show, was told he'd be out Wednesday, on his way, be there soon, etc etc etc.  told he was involved in an accident, would be first priority Thursday morning, be there by 9am, no show no call so unprofessional.  He finally showed Thursday evening.  Replaced thermostat, system on.  3 1/2 hours later, quit working again!  Chris had to call Goodman to figure it out.  1600 share foot house, me my wife and 2 large dogs are in 100 square foot bedroom now for 1 week!  Friday told another circuit board for the air handler heater unit inside was ordered, he would be here between 12 and 3 to fix it, was called by Chris at 1:30, part not there but on the way, he would call when he left, nothing until 830pm when he said he would be at my house by 8 am Sunday.  My wife waited all day Saturday for no reason, could've gone to the valley to get away from our hot house, she's upset now.  He finally showed up at 3 pm Sunday system on at 355pm and hasn't stopped yet!  I believe it's been a thermostat problem from the get go, but I'm not comfortable and confident in this system.  All this deception, lack of communication to their customers is a direct reflection on the owner John.  Too late for me, but read all the reviews on these guys, there's a few good ones, but for the most part mostly bad and mostly because of their promptness.  If you say you're gonna be there, you better be there!  If a customer isn't home, you will leave.

Update 8/31/19: A true testament of service is how they respond when issues arise. On Labor Day weekend, our unit stopped cooling and owner John personally arrived trying to diagnose and resolve issue. John had contacted warranty ready to replace compressor or unit, if unable to fix issue. When he came back with new unit and compressor, John went through steps to diagnose root cause and was able to resolve issue and fix immediately. John stress tested unit to ensure issue was resolved. Temperature inside house was 86 degrees and decreased to 79 degrees 90 minutes later and a comfortable 75 degrees at night. Unit is working better than ever. We appreciate John's expertise and commitment to taking care of his clients (even on holiday weekends).

Our experience with Diamondback Air was great!!  The owner of the company, John, and his technician, Julian, came out to our house the same day we called them.  Their prices are very reasonable, and they are professional and helpful.  Diamondback Air got our A/C back up and running much more quickly and at a significantly better price than other estimates we received.  We are very impressed with their company and will definitely be repeat customers in the future.  Thank you, Diamondback Air!!

I had them install a new system which I love. I had a few issues recently with access to the attic however Mark and his partner came and solved the zip tie issue that prevented me from using my attic opening. Over all I am once again with the service.

Would love to give them 5 stars because the result was fantastic, but getting there was a chore so I can't give them a perfect score. They care about the work they did and my new system performs really well (my house gets cold and does it fast). I worked with John and Kevin (I think they are co-owners) and was thrilled with the deal and warranty they worked out.

When I say the install was a chore, I mean that they were constantly late, the install went days over schedule and there seemed to be drama at every turn. In retrospect I believe the drama and extra days in the cycle were a result of them making sure things were done right and appreciate that they kept showing up until the job was complete -- not just slapping things together and moving on to the next job.

I feel like a got a better product, a better install and a better price with Diamondback, but had to overlook a couple of things on the customer experience front in order to get there.
