HISTORY

Owner Jim McLain was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona in 1960. His six year Military career helped shape his vision of an honorable and honest approach to all his business relationships. He was introduced to roofing in Phoenix, AZ in the 1980's and has been roofing here ever since. He prides himself on HONESTY and INTEGRITY. After working for several other valley roofing companies, Jim went on to open his own roofing company. His goal is to have the best reputation as a roofer in Arizona. In 1982, Jim McLain, Owner of Canyon State Roofing, began roofing in Arizona after serving 4 years in the United States Marine Corps.

After working his way out of the field and up the corporate ladder (no roofing pun intended!) to general manager, Jim went on to purchase the same roofing company several years later. Word of mouth and a great staff has helped build Canyon State Roofing to be known as one of Arizona's most trusted contractors.

all trash and debris were removed each and every day.
work was good and all issues were addressed. The price was good.

Overall happy with the quality and work. Terrible communication. Job was supposed to take 1 week, ended up taking 3. Each step of the way I had to text the owner for an updated and each time I got the same reply, I thought you were informed. They were very quick to communicate the invoice however.

After checking my roof at my residence in Mesa, AZ, I received the estimate from Canyon Roofing and reviewed the following day. Since some items were not listed, I emailed back stating I would call to discuss the items/questions I had. Almost immediately, I received an email back from Jim stating that after further thought, he was going to pass on the project, while also claiming that another staff member had supposedly sent the estimate in error (not believable since it did list my specific information correctly). While I was not upset at him passing on the project, I tried calling to discuss some of the questions I had related to the roof. My call(s) were not answered. Assume that perhaps it was believed that I was upset about being notified of not doing the project (again, I am not upset), there are many other companies out there and I have long moved on. This behavior however is absolutely unprofessional and uncalled for. If a prospective customer is in fact upset for whatever reason, there are professional ways to handle that (anything from: this is not a good fit for the company(especially in my case where I had other work that I wanted to have performed unrelated to the roof but in conjunction with the roof work that Jim informed me they would not do, which is fine). Would not recommend Canyon Roofing and will make my experience known to neighbors/co-workers and anyone else who is looking for a reliable, professional roofing company.

I really liked their website and saved it for 2 years until I thought my roof might be ready. Set an appointment a month out, met with the owner and felt very good about the meeting. He told me due to stormy weather it might be weeks for an estimate. Weeks turned into months and I sent an email. The email stated that I wasn't sure why i didn't get an estimate but wished them well. No response.

The owner told be during the presentation that although he wanted my business he was very busy and didn't need it. I congratulate them on their success but regret them wasting so much of my time. If a plausible explanation comes forward as a result of this one star rating i will gladly revise it.

I normally don't write reviews for a job well done because that's what you pay for and should expect. I'm making an exception here because exceptional is how I would rate the service. This is not necessarily true when dealing with roofing companies. I have recently had horrible service from 2 other companies and that seems to not be unusual considering the less than stellar reviews they have earned. This company, on the other hand, did what they promised and when they promised it. The service was not only professional but also friendly and seemingly sincere. Not like Starbucks and the like when you give your name and they think that's awesome. How's your day going so far? So phony. That is not how you get treated here. If you are shopping for a roofer, do yourself a favor and call them.

Due to the recent Hurricane rains in AZ, our kitchen ceiling began to leak. We felt it was probably from the small overhanging roof above, but we needed someone to come out and assess the situation. When Jim arrived, I was immediately impressed by his friendly demeanor and professionalism. He did a thorough investigation into the potential issues and recommended that we go with a handyman, as he believed our roof was in overall good condition and the problem could be dealt with rather inexpensively. He easily could've upsold us and taken the job as he had already come all the way out, but he didn't. If we ever do need roof repair, we will absolutely go with Jim!

The entire team at Canyon State Roofing deserves a 5-star rating. This includes Jim (owner), Robyn (administrator), Joe (sales), Mike (job foreman), and the entire roof removal and installation crew. Canyon State's level of customer service and attention to detail is truly top notch. Robyn in the office was friendly, personable, and quick to respond to any needs or questions. Joe was patient with my questions, provided thorough descriptions of the remediation my roof might need, provided samples to help me choose the right shingle, and worked with me to find the right solution for my budget and long-term home ownership goals. On the day of my roof installation, Canyon State's friendly crew covered my entire yard and plants with heavy duty tarps to prevent damage and, after the job was completed, the team carefully removed the tarps, swept the driveway, went over the yard with a magnet for loose nails, and disposed of all leftover debris, leaving my yard safe and tidy. Throughout the installation, I was kept apprised of the schedule and any issues. My new roof is beautiful and will protect my home for years to come. More importantly, I have every confidence that should there be an issue, Canyon State will make it right. I give them my highest recommendation - impeccable!!!

Can't say enough great things about Jim and his team at Canyon State Roofing. Over 7 years ago they applied a special pvc type material on my existing foam roof that has been excellent without any leaks or repairs. Top notch service and quality. Just recently had an issue with a sky light during a storm and Jim answered immediately and had his team out with a solution very quickly. Again very impressed with their customer service and response

Canyon State Roofing & Consulting did a wonderful job from start to finish! We submitted a online request for information and almost immediately got a response from Robyn. They made the entire process easy and stress free. They always responded quickly, were on time for their appointments, everything was explained clearly and all of our questions were answered. I am very pleased with the whole process of working with Jim and Canyon State Roofing. Jim takes a professional and accommodating approach to providing services. He gave me an accurate estimate and good pricing. During the project there were some tough areas to deal with including a long rotting section and a drooping front eave. His team did an excellent job repairing these sections. The house went from an ugly, cracking patchwork of flat light brown concrete tiles to a eye opening blend of brown/red/terracotta s-curve from Eagle Roofing (3636 Piedmont Blend). I highly recommend using this company as your roofing choice.

The work was great. I haven't had any leaks since so I guess it is all ok up there. Though it was a small job, Jim McClain shows to be a caring person who makes sure the work is done right and the customer is taken care of. I would call them again

Jim and everyone with Canyon State Roofing was excellent to work with. Robyn always kept us informed, returned calls promptly, and was very helpful through the entire process. During a huge rainstorm in late Jan. 2013, we discovered water coming through our upstairs hallway ceiling around a recessed light. We put a bucket in the attic until we were able to research and call for repairs. Jim gave us options, and we chose to have the entire roof fixed (down to underlayment), as he was finding other areas showing signs of water leaking, rotting wood, and areas not protected at all. We received a fair price, and had the work done. We were very happy with the entire process, and now when it pours we don't worry one bit about our roof. Thanks for a job well done!

Canyon State Roofs did a great job on our roof and made our 30+ year home look years younger. The owner, Jim McLain, worked with us on the price and didn't try to pressure us into anything we did not want. The crews showed up when promised and worked diligently until the job was done. Our roof is steeper than most other roofs, but they still got the job done for a fair market price AND was tested immediately by the recent monsoon storm that wrecked Ahwatukee. Our beautiful new roof met and exceeded our expectations!
