Blue Horizon Excavating & Grading

Jim is responsive and takes pride in his work. I hired Blue Horizon to fill, grade, and level my sloped mountainside backyard. He went above and beyond to make sure the job was done correctly. Jim is knowledgeable, honest, and hardworking. I feel better paying my hard earned money to a company like this. I would hire Blue Horizon again.

Jim did a fantastic job on excavating and grading our backyard. He is responsive, honest, and really takes pride in his work. Jim did a great job for my wife and me last year when we needed an HOA approved third car driveway removed because the HOA changed their mind two years after they originally approved (that's the new Tatum Highlands for you ).  But then Jim dropped off the map for the follow-on work he quoted for my backyard grading and rock distribution. I hope he's okay...maybe he got swamped with work and had a hard time prioritizing. Anyway, I still haven't heard back from him after two months of wondering what happened.

I had Jim remove my Bermuda grass, old curbing, some old invasive plants as well as bringing in clean dirt to create some large, natural looking mounds in my front yard.  He kept in place my flagstone walkway and several existing plants. I'm converting my front yard to xeriscape.
Jim listened to what I had planned for the space and catered the grading and removal based on my expectations and some. He took into consideration that I would eventually put down decomposed granite so removed soil at edges to ensure the gravel stayed in my yard.  He knew exactly how much to remove
His use of his machinery is done with surgical precision so he's able to remove what needs to be removed without touching anything adjacent to the work area that needs to remain.  He treated my mature Afghan pine with care and preserved my existing drip/bubbler line I wanted to retain.
I am so pleased with the results which exceeded my expectations. I will use Blue Horizon Excavating for all my future projects. Jim is just the best. He is responsive and provides recommendations to make your project a success.  It also helps that he is very easy to talk to.
I know very little about converting a lawn to xeriscape, I'm a complete novice. Jim made the first step in the process easy; I can't recommend him enough.

Jim is responsive, works hard and gets the job done right. He made helpful suggestions about how to solve some problems that came up. He even did a few extra things outside of the job to help make the whole thing complete. Very knowledgeable and friendly.

He removed concrete pad, block wall, a concrete pedestal and leveled and graded the whole yard.

Excellent job with final grading and drainage on a lot with limited access and tight areas. Very reasonable prices and easy to work with. Also, on time! Highly recommended.

Jim was absolutely WONDERFUL! He responded quickly and called to talk through our project and learn about our needs. He walked us through some of the concerns for a project this big (removing a ENORMOUS amount of rock from our backyard while not damaging the irrigation and protecting many of the small, established plants requiring much more hands-on labor). He actually recommended a different solution with another type of company which would save money and cause the least amount of potential damage. He gave us many things to consider and some really great tips to navigate our situation. It was great to speak with someone so knowledgeable, but also it was clear he really cared about us having a successful outcome so much so that he'd lead us down a different path. We need to grade, remove rock and level out the west area of our home for a project. Found blue horizon on yelp and Jim responded in a very timely manner. He gave us a fair quote. We also had 2 other quotes we received. He wasn't the cheapest but he also wasn't the most expensive.  We knew he was reliable through his communication unlike another company we had used that was inconsistent. Jim got a contract out to us which listed in detail all the work we wanted completed. He showed up on time and completed the job in one day. At the end of the job, we found him cleaning (sweeping) the dirt mess he had created while excavating. Normally, construction workers leave this task for the homeowners to do so we appreciated the extra work. For the reasons above, we highly recommend his company. He does great work and if we have other jobs in the future, we will use his company again

Jim from Blue Horizon Excavating came to our home to drag our arena, along with putting in new shavings. He did a great job.  We've had him here twice when needed, and both times, he did a thorough job and was a pleasure to work with and he won't rip you off.  His prices are reasonable.   I need to tell all my horse friends about him along with anyone who may need some excavating work done too. He can do it all!
