We loved Dan and his crew! We stressed to Dan that we were very eager to start our project. Sooner we start, the sooner we'd be done! After the console he was very helpful with getting our project underway. After all the parts were made and custom paint color was mixed, they were ready to install. He said it would take them 2.5 business days to complete the install and they were done in 2! The crew came in, set up shop, use their time wisely, and were very professional! We love our kitchen so much! Would definitely recommend Better Than New to anyone looking to improve their kitchen!

My home's circa-1999 kitchen and bath cabinets were hammered: builders-grade materials, poorly taken care of by previous owners. Somehow the interior boxes had escaped abuse and were in good shape, so I decided to reface.

I searched hard for a company I could trust. Online and through friends--most of whom had had bad experiences with cabinet work of their own. They described delays, wrong materials--complete frustration. One said, I just wanted it to be over. Great confidence builders...

By the time I found Better Than New Kitchens, I had become very skeptical. Dan O., the owner, came to my house, confirmed that refacing was the way to go, and gave me a preliminary estimate--along with a referral list of 32 recent clients. 32 references--who does that!?! So I started making calls. After talking to 7 customers in a row who couldn't say enough about BTN's work, I hired them.

Dan and Erick, the crew chief, came and measured, did drawings and formalized the estimate. We scheduled for 8 weeks out (they're that busy). The work was estimated to take 3, maybe 4 days (they finished in 2). They said the crew of 4 would be dedicated to my job only. (They were. There IS only one crew, and nobody skips out to go to another job.)

They told me there would be minimal clean-up. In fact, I was told I could leave most everything in the cabinets. WHAT??? I've had nightmare clean-ups before with dust and debris everywhere, but they told the truth. I cleared about 3 inches of space at the front of each cabinet and didn't live to regret it.

The craftsmanship and materials are beautiful. The hardware is top-of-the-line. You can find less expensive companies out there, but for me, with BTN, the age-old adage was true - I got what I paid for. If you're looking to reface your cabinets, I highly recommend Better Than New Kitchens.

We liked the layout of our 30 year old kitchen, but the cabinet doors and drawers were warped, had been painted once, and just looked, well, distasteful.  I'm not sure what good fortune led us to look at Better Than New Kitchens, but when I emailed Dan with an inquiry, a superlative journey began, a transformation, that has led to a kitchen so much improved that I am literally a bit astonished when I look at it in the morning light every day.  EVERY aspect of this company exudes professionalism, good taste, responsiveness, and quality.  Before anyone spends a penny on trying to upgrade their kitchen, they would be crazy if they do not contact Dan Oldejans and discuss what his company can do to help.  I assure you that Dan has the experience to help you avoid making a major mistake in the planning of your upgrade as well as some ideas that you may not have thought of or even knew could be done.  And you will get a thorough contract that describes exactly and completely what will (and will not) be done.  The committed installation date was hit exactly.  And the installation was amazing.  In three days the crew was done, the house was clean and the only sign they had been here was the beautiful new kitchen.  We were even able to use the kitchen to prepare breakfast and dinner both nights while the kitchen transformation was being performed!  
This company is aptly named.  With new hardware that opens and closes the doors and drawers, new and beautiful doors and drawers and facings and trim and kick plates and mouldings and hardware, our kitchen is Better than New.

I had an excellent over all experience with this company. The job was fairly big.  Dan came out the first time to measure things and give me an estimate. He came back a second time with has master craftsman to look everything over again and fine tune the measurements. That planning made the process much better because we ironed most issues ahead of time. I also worked through all the wood type, style, stain colors, gloss and trim with Dan. The crew were very nice and professional and they did a fabulous job. They paid attention to detail and the finished product exceeded my expectations(which were high). The job is messy but they cleaned up very well. I couldn't even tell they had been working in the garage for 4 days. I felt the pricing was fair particularly for the quality of the product and the service that was provided. I would 100% recommend this company!

I feel bad because I haven't taken pics yet but Dan and the crew did such a great job with our kitchen.  We did a total remodel of our cabinets and the whole team was so professional and responsive.  Once they completed the project, we had them come back out twice for minor adjustments and they were out in the next 1-2 days for those fixes.  We threw many wishes in the design process and every expectation was met or exceeded.  If I'm able to edit, I'll pop the pics in!  Thanks everyone!

Excellent job, we are very happy with the results.  Dan and his team are very professional.  Dan is an expert and was able to guide us through the decision making process - paint, reface or replace.    We chose to reface over 100 cabinets and the results are amazing.  The job was started and completed on time.  The price was comparable to others in the market and was fair.  Dan was always present or available to address the minimal concerns that came up during the job.  His crew were punctual, professional, and respectful of our home.  I couldn't recommend them any stronger!

Our 30+ year old cabinets were in good shape but needed updating and we didn't want to replace the granite countertops. We had 3 companies come in including BTN and HD. We were impressed with Dan's knowledge and huge range of color, style and wood choices.  From start to finish the process took a couplemonths but we were replacing our floors too.
Our house was a bigger job since we had all the cabinets refaced including the kitchen, laundry room, 3 bathrooms and linen closet but Dan and his crew did a great job and finished faster than expected.

A week ago I put in a quote request for a kitchen cabinet repaint to Better Than New Kitchens.  I followed their online procedure and provided them with all the measurements and pictures that they requested.  A couple hours after I put in the request, I received a call from Dan.  He boasted big time on how his procedure was better than most others out there but he would probably be higher priced too.  He said he would have a price back to me in 48 hours or sooner.  

Here it is a over a week later and no response back from Dan.  I can't imagine what it would be like if he actually was doing my job.  I surely won't waste my time with this outfit again.

We recently purchased a 20 year old home in North Scottsdale that was gutted and flipped (to us). The one thing the seller did NOT do with the remodel, was cabinets. He saved $$$ by simply painting the old cabinets and it really looked out of place with the quality of the other items he did.

I found Better Than New Kitchens and Dan Oldejans, here on Yelp. After searching around the interweb a bit more, I found that his business had FAR SUPERIOR ratings and reviews than anyone else...hands down. So we went with him.

The outcome???? Phenomenal! All we did was a reface, but man oh man, unless you open a cupboard door, or drawer...you'd NEVER know it!! The workmanship was more like craftsmanship. Dan and his team worked clean, precise and professional. We couldn't be happier with the entire process...from the first phone call, to the final walk through.

His pricing is fair and equitable, and he is not afraid to be honest about certain things you can do to save $$$ without compromising the quality of the job.

It was after our kitchen countertops were installed, that we decided to update our cabinets as well. Being that we didn't want to rip out counters to update our cabinets, Better Than New was able to resurface the existing cabinets. This basically means that everything is new, except the box that's glued to the wall.

I was skeptical until I saw photos of other resurface jobs that this company has done. I couldn't tell the difference.

We now have all new doors, drawers, pull outs, hardware, etc.. etc.. for a huge savings compared to a full replacement. You couldn't tell we had oak cabinets last month!

Expect these guys to be in your house for a few days. They take their time at every step in the process, from the initial on-site sales/review, to piecing together the beautiful molding.

We absolutely love our newly refaced cabinet! We are completely remodeling our home and needed to update all our cabinets. We had a choice of going with new, refaced or refinished cabinets. I obtained two quotes for what ended up being a complete reface for all our cabinets. I found both companies more than competent, and would have felt quite comfortable using either, but what really sold me on Better Than New Kitchens was the owner, Dan Oldejans.

After a preliminary conversation and estimate on the phone (I loved that you can give him your own measurements via email and he provides an estimate before he even comes to your home). When I received his estimate, I informed him that we weren't even sure that we wanted to go through with it because I was way, way, way off on my own personal estimate, also known as wishful thinking.

Dan still came to our home and spent over two hours with me going through the process and showing me samples and available options. He was thoroughly honest when I questioned whether we were getting a little outside the pricing parameters for a house of our size and price (we were) and I appreciated his candor.

I always take that sort of response as an indicator of the type of individual I am dealing with and that initial, very positive impression held through our entire project. AND, there was absolutely no pressure to up sell.

Dan was also quite responsive when we asked him to price out various portions of the project as we tried to fit the reface into the budget. He worked hard to reduce the overall estimate once he was able to measure everything himself. Though it was often just a few dollars here and a few dollars there, I appreciated the effort.

We eventually decided to go all-out and have the whole home refaced, and even added a new cabinet. Dan continued to work hard to make things work, even having the patience to charge three different credit cards in order to allow us to get together the total amount for the down payment. Honestly, I was just a little paranoid about writing a check with no recourse if something bad happened. Using the credit cards gave us an option outside the Registrar of Contractors should that occur. Turns out that fear was a totally unfounded. Since then, we have never looked back!

A totally awesome transition from our blonde, rather plain tract home cabinets to a very rich, nearly custom look! Craftsmanship was outstanding. Seams where the crown molding butts to the wall are imperceptible. The brads on the 1/4 veneer are also nearly impossible to see. Overall, we are totally pleased with the workmanship and results.

Though the cost was a lot more than we had initially budgeted, we are thrilled that we decided to go forward with it. I am certain it will add a substantial amount to the resale value of our home when that day comes to retire in a smaller place. The transition was actually so breathtaking that it has us reconsidering the move.

The work was completed on-budget and even a day early. Dan is a hands-on owner, and he and his team were always on-time to start and they finished at a reasonable time each day.

There were a couple minor snafus, and they were addressed properly and quickly. When the crew arrived the first day, someone who shall remain nameless (Dan) backed in the trailer a little too far and chipped a little stucco off the top of the garage frame. I might never have noticed, but Dan brought it to my attention, and addressed it immediately by taking a paint sample and getting a little touch up. It was repaired and imperceptible within an hour!

A second snafu involved the hardware. We used different pulls for the kitchen and the rest of the home. They missed that and drilled for the same hardware. Dan advised me of the problem, and being the reasonable people we are, we agreed that Dan would replace the hardware with something we still liked. He offered to go to a specialty hardware store to try to get a match with our original choice in order to make us happy. In the end, both sides were lucky that we found an acceptable replacement at the local Home Depot. I'm guessing that's a lesson learned and won't happen again.

In the end, we were exceptionally pleased with the work, and should we actually move in the future, we will use Better Than New Kitchens - no second estimate required.

We investigated refacing or buying new cabinets for our kitchen.  Decided to reface as we were not changing the footprint and our existing cabinets were good quality and in good shape.

Dan worked with us (patiently) to make our selections, helping us to make good decisions about the features we wanted.  We agreed on an installation date and that was the exact date his team arrived.

Dan and Better Than New did a great job for us!  The best recommendation I can give is that as we look at other potential homes to buy, I don't worry about the shape or style of the kitchen cabinets, because I know Dan will make it look great.

Dan worked on the cabinets in our kitchen, breakfast area, and laundry room.  I think it was one of his larger jobs and he handled it with grace, style, and professionalism.   Everyone on his team was very professional and knew their jobs.  They worked around our vacation schedule and kept us out of our kitchen for the minimum amount of time.  As with all construction projects, some minor miscommunications occurred.  Dan handled those well and we have beautiful cabinets, on time and on budget.

We recently purchased a home and knew we did not want to rip out the old cabinetry since the bones were good. We called BTN after reading positive reviews to take the tired 20 year old kitchen and family room in our new home from bland to beautiful.  Dan spent a few hours working with us on the best solution. The timeline from initial meeting to finished project took about 5-6 weeks.  All the yellowed maple cabinets now look fresh and modern with a combination of replace, resurface and repaint. The family room was painted with a smooth acrylic finish of 3-4 coats that will withstand use and cleaning. Replacement doors were custom made to match the intricate stepped pattern on the other doors to cover the openTV cabinet section and painted to match. The kitchen layout was good, but Dan replaced the impractical wine rack and corner open cabinet with new cabinets. The opening for the new wall ovens was enlarged and reinforced for the new appliance. All of the kitchen cabinetry was resurfaced with veneer to match the soft gray alder doors we chose and we used the darker gray stain doors and veneer on the island. Dan's team, from painters to carpenters was professional, efficient and highly skilled. The result is fantastic and we are very pleased with the result.   If you are thinking of refreshing your current cabinetry, you could not make a better choice than Better Than New!

Better Than New just refinished a gazo clock for me.  it had one side of clock faded from the sun.  they restored that side of clock and it looks awesome.  thanks to better than new!

I had such a great experience with Dan and his team. From the start, Dan was very communicative, honest, and straight forward about the entire process/pricing/scheduling/etc. When he came over to do the estimate, I knew he was very knowledgeable in his field... I had done a lot of research on my own prior to calling him. He was able to offer many options for my project to fit my needs. He told me that his price would be a little higher than other companies, but that it would be done well and done right. I told him that I would much rather pay a little more and have it done correctly the first time, without any hassle, and on schedule. After the installation, I noticed one small issue with one of my cabinet doors, and he took care of it immediately, with urgency. Planning, design, and installation were all so easy and non-invasive. We recently selected Better than New Kitchens to perform a resurface on our kitchen and three bathrooms at our home. Dan Oldejans the owner responded quickly with a detailed bid estimate from just an initial set of photos.  He then followed up quickly to work with us on selecting new doors, finishes and final options. Dan was extremely detailed in reviewing the options and let us know what to expect every step of the way. We have a custom home and the kitchen has several complex cabinet layouts which the install team handled very well.

The entire experience from start through completion was excellent.  We also had restructure some cabinet layout and add some as well. There design ideas and additions were great. The entire work crew was professional, did detailed work and they finished the entire project in four days which was a day early.

Dan, Eric, and the team were top-notch! Expert carpenters who shoot for high-quality results using high-quality products. I had my kitchen and master bathroom upgraded to a California modern white shaker style. Everything turned out beautifully - very chic and contemporary. The upgrade has no doubt increased the overall value of our home. They also showed up exactly when they said they would, and were super clean. We're going to have them come back to redo our other bathrooms.

I am very happy with my new kitchen thanks to Dan and his team.  We were very hesitant to start the remodel process since we had a past botched remodel leave us without cabinet doors or drawers.  After sending an initial email to Dan, he immediately called us back to explain his company and services available.  Right away we could tell that he was knowledgeable and experienced in the kitchen business.  Dan gave some ballpark estimates over the phone and requested us to send measurements and photos so he could give us an accurate cost breakdown.  Within two hours after we sent them over, Dan had a detailed estimate ready.  The estimate included pricing for just doors and drawers as well as pricing for refacing the exposed frames and panels of our cupboards.  We also had a third pricing for building new drawer boxes.  Dan provided all the details we needed to feel comfortable about what we would be paying for and the value each part of the proposal entailed.  We gave him the go-ahead on a Monday and he came out to our home the same week to measure the kitchen and show us color samples for the finish.  Three weeks later Dan's team was back with all the cabinetry pieces which were installed over three days.  Dan made sure that we were satisfied with the final result.  The team that installed the drawers (on the first day) used the wrong slides; Dan had it corrected the next day.  We also noticed that our lazy susan was rubbing a bit and having trouble turning.  Dan arranged a visit at our earliest convenience to get it back to perfect working order.  After working with many contractors in the past that failed to hold up their end of the deal we are thankful to have used Better Than New Kitchens for such a large and important project.

We were ordering new furniture but wanted to keep a few existing pieces that we love.  The problem we had was - do we order new furniture with the same wood as our existing pieces or have the existing pieces refinished.  If we refinish, how can we be sure we're going to get a good match?  The furniture store recommended Better Than New and advised they work with them all the time.  

You can handle the logistics yourself or, for $135 each way, they have a 3rd party take care of it.  The form they had us sign was intimidating, and it did cause us to think twice but we decided to move forward anyway.

We received the finished pieces and they absolutely are better than new.  The quality of the work is stunning - minor scratch on one piece is gone and they match our new furniture beautifully.  I can't say enough about the work they did and would highly recommend them to anyone.

Great job!  Our 1970's bathroom cabinets were dated and the doors did not even close.  I didn't want to rip out the counter tops or floors and so replacing the doors and door fronts was the best option for us.  Better Than New did a great job.  The cost and lead time as quoted was spot on.  Work took less than four hours and my bathroom looks great!
