Artisan Carpentry

I contacted him to design and built me a custom made Kitchen island and he never even started the project. I have paid him $ 1000 deposit and still waiting for the refund.
He sent me a check and when I deposited the check it was bounced back to due to insufficient funds available.

At this point I decided to file a court complain, since after  20 messages ,he still refuses to refund my deposit.

Don't waste your time& money to hire him!

Itala (Neyita), Joseph (Joe) and Matthew Aportela reside in Phx Az and are NOT licensed in AZ to operate the business. Hired for a custom kitchen island and 42 standing bar, amongst other projects. Craftsmanship is horrible, work was abandoned. Joe wrote a contract requesting a deposit, then he cons you by saying give me a little bit of money each time i come and complete work. He never shows as scheduled, which was over 10 times at least. They damaged existing items and promised to complete the projects. He even showcased the island on social media to pull in more business and it's believed that his daughter Lisa is a designer who has asked to feature our kitchen in a magazine, which we did NOT agree to. I would suggest before hiring any contractors check the Registered Contractors  of Arizona site.

Paint on appliances and floor.. used cheap Home Depot paint not oil based Sherwin Williams as promised. Took 6 weeks to get my cabinets back and they are warped.

Run! Do not use. Promised my money back and nothing.. he has a line of people waiting for their money. He lies!

Do not hire Joseph and Artisan Carpentry for any work. I did not do my homework on checking him out first and now I am paying the price. I hired him to do epoxy countertops and gave him a deposit for materials. He gave me a date that he would begin the work and finish it. He cancelled multiple times and then said that he would return my deposit. He only gave me a potion back and has not returned the rest. After reading other reviews I am thankful that he did not start my job and mess up my whole house. My heart goes out to those who have had to redo his poor craftsmanship.

He is a shame to the tradesmen who do good work. He is a liar and does not follow through with his promises. Beware and please do your homework before he gets your money. I am now forced to take further action to try and recover my loss. Warning! Avoid him.

Joe is a liar and a thief.

I contracted for work and paid him a $990.00 deposit.   Now the phone is disconnected.   Italia Apotela and this company apparently cannot be trusted.

I am so very disappointed with Joe at Artesan Carpentry.  I read the reviews, went to his shop to looked at his work and made my own decision to hire him despite the reviews on June 3rd.  Unfortunately, the reviews were right and frankly there is more to it than what the reviews tell you.  Joe repeated let me down time and time again.  I'll be there on Monday and will work all day to get your bar built.  He wouldn't show up and apologized.  This happened over and over, again and again.  In total, he showed up to do work on my house two times.  Once to demo my bar space, and the second time to begin framing my bar.  On the second visit, he promised he'd be there all day Saturday and all day Sunday.  He was at my home for 2 hours and 23 minutes on Saturday only.  That is per my ring camera on his arrival and departure.  Needless to say, I didn't get my bar built and now I have a demo'ed living room with exposed walls and no bar.  Working with Joe was exhausting and frustrating.  When the dust settled and we parted ways, he promised a refund for a part of my initial deposit.  I've gotten $500 of the $819 he owes me.  Once again, he said I'd get my money and he didn't deliver, at least not in full.  Joe has a lot of excuses and he wasn't up front and honest with me.  That's the thing that bothers me the most.  I would have worked with him had he been upfront with me.  His word means nothing and he repeatedly made commitments he did not keep.  In the end, Joe just didn't do what he said he would do.  Buyer beware.  If you want excuses, Joe's your guy.  If you want work done, I'd seek another company.

Ordered to get the island made and cabinets repainted!! All i want to say- DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME , MONEY AND MOST IMPORTANTLY YOUR PEACE OF MIND! Everything was done wrong ! I will be hiring another person to fix this mess! After pointing out so many flaws, i did get the discount though!
