ABOUT BUSINESS OWNER

I was born in Calgary, Canada and lived there until 1994.  Growing up around construction and carpentry I followed this career path, and in 1990 began working for one of the best custom cabinetry companies in North America - Legacy Kitchen Design Group.  After enjoying success in sales and design with that company for a number of years I partnered with my employers and began a new chapter of my career as the Managing Partner of what is now Affinity Kitchen Design Group.  My wife and I moved from Calgary to Phoenix in June of 1994 and we opened the doors to our new showroom on August 1st.  Over the years we have been blessed with incredible employees and customers.
An underlying core value of my life has always been the inherent value of human life.  I believe that we all have a great responsibility to value others by treating them with honesty, integrity and respect.

We worked with Mia at Affinity Kitchens on our master bath remodel.  She was very friendly and welcoming, and easy to work with.  Mia created a new design for the space that was extremely functional and beautiful.  She was able to listen to what we liked and provide us with just enough choices to not feel overwhelmed.  The cabinets were delivered on time and just as we expected.  We love our new bathroom.

The design process was easy. My salesman designed a great layout and I picked up the cabinets I wanted. However, the construction company that reconfigured my kitchen layout was not up to par. My dishwasher was not installed correctly, the extra tiles i supplied not applied correctly with huge grout lines. The window they put in has gaps , the black, splash tiles are a little wonky ,,in the corners of the cabinets looked pieced together. I would recommend affinity again, but not the construction company that they used

Kristin S., our Affinity Kitchen Designer, was great. She was knowledgeable and friendly. She was open to our ideas and yet not afraid to guide us through the process. We appreciated her professional skills and her promptness. She took away our anxiety about undertaking this project, and we feel we have made a new friend.

Affinity Kitchens was very easy to work with.  Our designer, Theresa, was so professional and helpful to us in getting to the right design for us.  She was amazing!  We had one full wall done plus two islands.  We had some cabinets refinished.  The chocolate glaze on the refinished cabinets were matched in dark chocolate cabinets for the islands and coffee station wall.

The installation team was great too.  We were running a bit behind in the remodel with other contractors, and Affinity worked with us to ensure their installation was completed on time (actually it was early).  They even added an additional team member to get it done!

We recently remodeled our kitchen, guest bath, and powder room. They were all complete guts! I have to say that EVERY PERSON, we came in contact with at AFFINITY,from our salesperson Ray, to the scheduler Marco, to the installation mgr JAMIE, the installers Eric &Emillio, and Mark & Bill, were an absolute pleasure to work with! Our experience was ALL POSITIVE! Yes, there were a few snafoo's along the way as is totally normal, but they were all taken care of in a timely manner until we were completely satisfied!  unlike someones review here, i was constantly given samples to take home to help make my decision. We were given a CAD design to go over before we ordered. We picked midrange cabinets and then went for the servo electric cabinets that raise up and down by touch. It is fabulous! We are Very Happy with our whole experience and VERY HAPPY WITH OUR BEAUTIFUL CABINETS!!!

Hired Affinity for my kitchen remodel.  Their attention to detail, sense of urgency and design talent all exceeded expectations!  This is a very well run company and I cannot recommend them enough.  Debi's design talent made the difference between a good remodel and a perfect remodel!

Tim Huber from Affinity Kitchens listened to my wishes and transformed my very Tuscan, traditional kitchen to a beautiful, very modern one. We felt like he literally took this project as if it was his own home and looked into every detail and was present every time he needed to be. I have been in my new kitchen for about 8 months now and I still get happy every time I look at it. It's exactly what I wanted and more....

I can't thank Tim and Affinity Kitchens enough for the attention to detail and great end result. I could go on and on and the comments from family and friends speak for itself. Thank you so very much Tim - you're the best!!

We had a terrific experience working with Theresa Franklin. She made sure to incorporate all of our desires for our new kitchen, but also made suggestions and guided us along as the project took shape. Thank goodness for her knowledge and expertise. As a matter of fact everyone we came in contact with at Affinity was helpful, knowledgeable and precise from beginning to end. There weren't many, but any issues that did come up were addressed and resolved immediately. The outcome is beyond our expectations-our new kitchen is absolutely gorgeous!! We would recommend Affinity Kitchens to anyone because they are determined to provide a beautiful, high quality product as well as outstanding customer service start to finish.

I too wish my experience was as good as some others' here. We chose Affinity for our Optima remodel because I'd seen their logo in a kitchen I'd admired. The products are beautiful and I was excited to work with them. The designers took time to measure for one unit we didn't buy and I was glad they were willing to measure the unit we ultimately did, included in their $1800 drawings charge. Our designer was very nice, and I think has good aesthetic sense. She took lots of time to show various products. Over time, I simply didn't feel she understood our logistical needs and our unique challenges (my husband has some mobility issues). Because we were hiring our previous cabinet contractor for other work in the condo, and he has real roots experience that led to good ideas for our lifestyle, we decided to go with him for kitchen install too. I thought that our $1800 covered the CAD drawings to spec, with Affinity's promise to credit that to our account if we chose to have them install, but no matter what, we'd own the drawings. As a good contractor does, our guy remeasured to be sure all was correct. He uncovered a 1 1/2 inch problem for the cabinet housing our unique dishwasher drawer. He and I thought it would only be helpful to mention to Affinity designer so she could learn from experience for the next project that might incorporate the same dishwasher. When I emailed her with, 'you may wish to double check the specs', her response was, 'The drawings you have are not for construction, the drawing is an artist's interpretation and is not intended as a precise depiction. You have made the decision to go into another direction therefore your new kitchen specialist is responsible for the dimensions and finish details.' I guess I misunderstood. If I were to do it all again, I'd use some of the $1800 to hire a designer for aesthetics, and let my kitchen guy recommend features and measure the kitchen as part of his quote. But in the end, if it weren't for Affinity, we would not have been introduced to the fabulous glossy acrylic cabinets, so all's well that ends well.

A designer friend suggested we look at Affinity early in our remodel process.  We started working with Theresa as kitchen designer, and we enjoyed working with her over a many months long timeframe.  Theresa has very good ideas, but even more importantly, she listened to what we wanted and made it happen.
I have been less than decisive throughout the remodel process, but Theresa was very patient with me and the changes I requested.
Where Affinity really shines is in their installation and follow up.  Our installation was pushed back a little from original date, but that was okay as we still had other work going on in the house.  The men installing the cabinets did an excellent job ( I did not realize how excellent until I used a different cabinet company for my laundry and master bath).
There were some stain intensity variations on some of the cabinet fronts.  Affinity sends out an inspector after each install.  The inspector ordered several new cabinet faces to replace ones which he felt were not acceptable.  The current faces stayed on until the new ones came in.  Unfortunately, there were still some light/dark issues.  The inspector ordered all new faces on one side of kitchen to make sure they all matched.  I did not have to ask for anything; HE felt the cabinets were not acceptable.  When replacement fronts came in, the installer replaced the fronts and adjusted the hinges.
We love our new cabinets.  They were expensive, but you are paying for the service, both in design and installation.  I saved money by using a different company for my laundry and master bath,  and the quality of those cabinets is very good, but the difference in professionalism and installation was night and day compared to other company

I wish I could've had a similar experience to other reviewers here, but the salesman who helped me that day made me vow to not spend a dime at this place. I walked in and was paired with an available salesman on the floor. We started looking for some cabinet options since we're remodeling our bathrooms & kitchen. I had an idea of what I was looking for and he pulled out some samples. I pulled out my phone to take photos of the ones I liked, and was told that photography is not allowed.

Interesting, because all the tile stores I've been to before didn't seem to mind. But ok, not a big deal. I put my phone away and went back to looking at my options. At this time, another couple walked into the store and they were short a salesperson. My sales guy lets them know that he'd be with them soon, and I told him to go ahead and help them since I was going to take some time looking.

This is where he made an offensive remark and I decided I'd never do business with this store again. The salesman actually told me he couldn't leave me alone with the samples because he was afraid I would take a picture of the samples when he wasn't present. So he continued to stand by me as I looked at the selection.

Well thank you sir for making judgments and accusing your potential clients of wanting to do something they weren't even thinking about! I can respect that no photography is allowed, but I cannot respect a salesperson who treats his customers as if they were criminals.

You lost out on not just one client, but all her friends who are in the midst of remodeling their kitchens and bathrooms as well.

We could not have been happier with our experience at Affinity Kitchens.  Theresa Franklin, our Designer, was amazing!  She had excellent follow through, great design ideas, and was easy to work with. Bill Kudzia was our Installer, and you could tell he really enjoyed his work, took pride in it, and knew what he was doing.  The whole company is so professional and they make sure every detail of the project is perfect.  We were VERY impressed.

We just went through a very difficult, long drawn out remodel.  The brightest spot of this whole process was working with Affinity Kitchens.  I am not compelled to write very many reviews, but the service, attention to detail, craftsmanship, and follow-up by Affinity Kitchens was over the top!!  Beth Martinec was a our salesperson/advisor and was extremely professional, knowledgeable, helpful and most accommodating as we worked through all the renovation issues.  If we were to move and/or build again, Affinity would be my go to company and hopefully Beth will still be with them. Just wanted to give them a shout out and say THANK YOU for your patience and true concern that we were happy customers.

We were out and about checking out cabinets for our kitchen remodel and stumbled upon this little gem.  We were told to browse and when someone was available they would check in with us.  We wandered about and viewed their gorgeous displays and it wasn't long before Norman came over and started picking our brains to get an idea what we were working with.  He was EXTREMELY patient and very informative.  He guided us with what little information he had and tried to point us in a direction he would suggest we go.  We felt very at ease with Norman and he gave us a very trusting vibe, we will definitely be back to sit down with him and see what he comes up with as far as a design and decor for our new kitchen.

The sense I got from my experience is this: Don't waste your time unless you're ready and willing to do at least an $80,000 kitchen remodel and that's just for midrange cabinets only. My husband and I were ready to go on a remodel and went in the store twice for our quote and kitchen design, which we were told was on the way.  However, after continually reaching out to our salesperson, (Not to be named bc I'm not that callous) after we hadn't heard back week after week of reaching out to him, we were basically told it was renovation season and that fortunate for them they were able to pick and choose whose remodels they wanted to do.  (No joke, that was said) I am pretty sure since we said we weren't looking for a drastic overhaul as our boxes need not be changed and just want the faces changed that we were not selected. The salesperson/designer wanted to also talk about removing soffits that architecturally didn't make sense with respect to the rest of the house or even room for that matter, so I'm guessing these were the feeler questions or interview for how much of a dummy we were and how much we were willing to overspend since we also were first asked what area of town we live, which we always dread admitting Paradise Valley. Would have been nice to know before wasting a few weeks of our time just trying to get a quote and kitchen design for which we agreed to pay.  You know, I'm all about freedom we have here in the U.S.A. and if you want to dick me around several weeks acting like you're the best quality and worth the wait, that's your prerogative but at least give me the respect and courtesy from the beginning to set the expectation you may or may not even get an answer back to me with a quote after spending so much time discussing and viewing my kitchen. It's just common courtesy. Oh, also reading through the comments I laughed because I was also told not to take pictures. Only place that cared about pictures as well. It's just hilarious. It reminds me of that bourgeosie tactic of be so snobby and rude that your customers will want to prove they're able to afford whatever you're selling that Abercrombie & Fitch Co. are known for aside from their news reports of their various discrimination cases. I know that's off topic but it's just too hilarious. Well anyway, I never want your business trust me and when I show off my beautifully renovated new kitchen, (all new Quartz countertops, new top of the line appliances, marble backsplash, banquette, new larger and modernized island, new can lighting, under cabinet lighting and all new cabinet faces-all for around the 30k range, and according to our salesperson just a decent quality cabinet of 80 linear feet would be around $80k, makes you wonder just how much others are overpaying), I'm sure all our friends will also get a kick out of our experience too. Audacious. However, the real moral of the story is, just be honest and decent and don't waste the most precious resource in life: my time. I really wish sales rep would have just said, hey, you know what, we just don't take on projects between 30-40k, we only want to work on jobs worth $80k and up. Instead of I'll get back to you, repeat, repeat, repeat. It really is so rude.

Post response:
Thank you,
I added stars just because the owner's sincere response & apology & the fact that since I didn't actually get to experience their service Its not really right to lower someone score just bc one sales rep was rude. I'm sure if I had rock star type of money to blow I'd of liked to spend it here if my sales rep hadn't been so sassy, but alas two kids under 2 wouldn't be kind to a dream world uber top of the line remodel.

We knew of Affinity from a friend who had an excellent experience, and from their beautiful kitchen.  Also, another friend recommended a specific designer . . . who happened to work at Affinity.  So, from the beginning when we decided to redo our kitchen, Affinity, was the first stop.  My wife worked as an interior designer, and we redid another kitchen in our MI home, so we had an idea of what it would cost.   From the moment we met with Deborah at Affinity, we knew we were in good hands, and, ultimately, the price was in line with what we expected.

Deborah was simply FABULOUS.  She is pleasant, patient, professional, and unbelievably talented.  She quickly understood what we were attempting to do, and she worked with us on every detail, measuring more than once, and making sure that everything fit perfectly.  Affinity even offered us a couple of suggestions for general contractor for part of the kitchen construction, and the other work we were doing in the house; we picked one of the two, and we were also delighted with them.  Because Affinity had a history of working with the recommended contractor, it went even smoother.

We were given a production schedule, with the work being done while we were out of the house; we trusted both the contractor and Affinity, and we were NEVER disappointed.  Everything went exactly as scheduled, and shown on a production spreadsheet before they began.  We came back to AZ after everything was completed, and we were simply blown away with a kitchen that EXCEEDED our expectations.  We continue to say to one another, and anyone who will listen, how thrilled we are with our new kitchen.  We worked in the same footprint, yet we now feel we have phenomenally more space.  That is a credit to Deborah's design and the functionality of the cabinets we selected.  We had a couple of adjustments that needed to be made, and within a day, Jamie was at our house, allowing us to begin putting away everything that was packed up.  Jamie was also friendly and accommodating.  Today, Mark came out to do a couple more things, and, he, too was great.  Didn't hurt that Mark emigrated from Canada, where the cabinets are manufactured, and happened to spend years working for the manufacturer.  He's a great find for Affinity, as he knows this cabinet from the inside out.  We are now 100%, with the last couple of things very minor.

So, know that you will make the right decision if you choose to work with Deborah and Affinity!!

We would recommend Affinity Kitchens because their staff go 'above and beyond' to make sure you are satisfied. And their processes and procedures are excellent. You truly get what you pay for. It is obvious to me that Affinity is on the top of the food chain for kitchen retailers in the Valley, there is no one close.

I had a great experience at Affinity Kitchens.
Starting with a very pleasant receptionist answering the phone (which might not seem like a big deal but after about 10 phone calls to other cabinet companies I either didn't get an answer ;if I left a voicemail ,did not get a return call back ???  or people were not overly friendly on the phone).
I had a kitchen drawer that needed to be repaired which any other company I called said - go find a handyman to do the work.
I brought my kitchen drawer in so they can take a look at it (The faceplate had fallen off of the drawer box ) and they were able to fix it and I got it back within two days. Everyone was very nice there and
The drawer looks perfect.
Affinity--Thanks for fixing it!
I'm not in need of new cabinets but I have to say the show room was beautiful if you're looking for a kitchen remodel!

Affinity Kitchens was the shining star of my kitchen remodel.  Beth Martinec has been the most helpful, professional I have worked with and helped guide my husband and I through a process that had more than a few hiccups.  During the install when we ran into a pretty big issue, she called me back while on vacation and spent 30 minutes on the phone with me. Their cabinets are quality and beautiful. The installer, Gerardo, was meticulous and never wasted time. Jamie and Marco have stayed on top of every aspect of this project. It's an expensive undertaking but you will not be disappointed with your outcome.

My new kitchen's design is absolutely lovely and very functional.  The kitchen looks so pretty from the rest of the house.  And I love cooking in there.  The sliding shelves in the cabinets, full pull out drawers and lazy susan give me so much more storage despite losing some cabinet space with the remodeling.  You wouldn't believe how pretty this back splash is, especially at night.  When I'm in there, it's like I'm cooking surrounded by jewels.  As my designer Debbie Miller predicted, the higher countertop at the penninsula is the best workspace for cooking.  I am so delighted with my new kitchen.  It's everything I wanted.  Debbie's design is fabulous, and she helped lead me to the best choices on flooring & countertops & glass.  Plus she and Affinity Kitchens were right there throughout the entire remodeling process to give me the very best service.  They have my highest recommendation.
