Recently had an issue with the plumbing in our shower. Called Hartlaub and paid $200 to have someone come out for an emergency after hours visit. Once a technician was dispatched, I appreciated the text we received with a summary and picture of the technician along with a tracker. The technician, Jack, arrived and was extremely pleasant and professional. He looked over the issue and provided a quote with two options for new hardware. We had a temporary fix in place and were able to quickly schedule an appointment for a permanent fix.
Kyle was the technician dispatched for that appointment. He was just as friendly and professional as the first. He even offered me a bottled water he had when he was shutting our water off. It took him 6 hours from start to finish to repair the issue which was the time we were told it would take. Once the repair was done, Kyle took care to put everything back in its place, even insisting on vacuuming the floor. Not a thing was left behind and you couldn't even tell any work had been done, other than our new hardware.
Yes, they may be more expensive than others but it's for a good reason. They have excellent employees who do excellent work. I wouldn't want anything less when it comes to the plumbing in my home.

Last year we had Mr. Holland install a new furnace and ac unit and were very satisfied with the service. On May 8 we had a tech come out for an ac inspection. He told us we did not have surge protectors on either unit and if they were damaged our warranty would be void. My wife called May 12 and May 22 to talk about getting the surge protectors and was told someone would follow up the next business day. This did not happen. She called May 25 and asked for a manager, again told someone would call the next business day. Again no call, why? We are very disappointed in their service and in the mean time should there be a storm we`d lose our warranty. This is not the service they claim on their radio ads.

We hired hartlaub to replace the inside water valve that supplied our outdoor water spigot two years ago. When I turned on the water supply this spring the soldering where it was connected started to leak very badly. We called hartlaub to fix their poor workmanship and they wanted to charge us $175 for a service fee! The soldering should have lasted much longer than two years and they should have repaired it for no charge. Because of this I would never hire this company again! Poor quality and they do not stand behind their work!

The service was very good but the deceitful business approach is shocking.  They give you no indication on what a possible cost is, they give you no hourly rate or how they calculate costs.  They arrived, after already charging a 'trip' charge and then proceed to calculate a 'flat' standard cost for a 'single' kitchen faucet on their computer.  The faucet was Owner provided.  In hindsight, this simple flat rate charge could have been mentioned to me prior to committing to the appointment so I would have some idea of ultimate costs - a range of costs would have been valuable.  To me this is deceitful...they get into the house charging a trip charge and then your left with 'pay it or don't', but still pay the trip charge.  it's kind da like 'GOTCHA'.

Mr H bought out the former plumber. Was hired to replace HVAC system for residents who are mentally disabled. I couldn't be there. They installed but did not leave the PIN to work it. I told them I only needed to know how to get the PIN  It was not in the manual No info online. They wouldn't help unless a tech came out. Charged 275 for a 15 min phone call to the company because the info needed was not in the manual. I told the tech I didn't give permission to bill the CC but he had a neighbor sign instead. I called and was told Anna would call me in a few days, she never did but claimed she did several times.  I found out they overcharged me by not giving the member discount  so they refunded that.  Still billed over $200 for info that should have been provided when installed or that I could have gotten in they would have provided any help whatsoever on the phone.  They are a big company that refuses to correct their mistakes or offer information that should have been provided upon installation.

We had a cast iron sewage pipe in our basement start to go really bad. My wife noticed the pipe and showed me, I wasn't too thrilled with the plumber I used to replace a toilet a couple of months ago. Our daughter suggested Hartlaub as she had just used them and was very satisfied. I called and a plumber was out a day later. He looked everything over and discussed the options to resolve the issue. After he assured me that we could continue things as normal we decided to correct the problem the following week. He returned the next week with an apprentice and they did a great job of correcting the issue.

We moved into a new house and needed some work done, so we subscribed to their 1717 club, which gets you discounts. We quoted having some electrical work done which included having a hot tub wired in. All went well, we had the tub delivered and the electricians showed up right after to install it. I do appreciate them coming as it was just above 0 out. They completed the wiring and told me even though the tub wouldn't power up properly their wiring was 100% correct. I called the hot tub service place who suspected bad wiring, so I put them in touch with the electrician, who again swore up and down it was correct so we got put on the schedule for the service tech to come out later. So we waited until the service tech came out and of course, the hot tub was never wired in correctly in the first place. When we called Mr. Hollands they said there was nothing they could do until Monday, despite this being their error. $2600 in work that wasn't done correctly and the best they could do was offer a $50 gift card. I may likely call on Tuesday and cancel my membership and take my business elsewhere.

While I am frustrated with the information that was relayed to me about how to fix my lighting issue, and I ended up having someone else come out and fix the issue, Mr. Holland did refund me the time that the electrician was here, when the issue was diagnosed incorrectly. So even though I wasn't happy with the way things went down, the company did rectify it in the end by doing some service recovery.

If I could have, I would have chosen NO stars at all. Don't use these guys, they work on commission and will find problems where there are none.  During a routine inspection, I was told I needed upwards of $2000 worth of repairs on a unit that was one day shy of 2 years old. I had another contractor come out, he checked the freon levels and determined the only problem was a loose nut that was causing a small oil leak.

We had a thermostat issue, and we knew it was a thermostat issue. Hollands tech came over and ignored everything my wife told him. He insisted it must be a boiler issue and wasted an hour looking at everything but the thermostat. Finally he checked the thermostat and saw a switch was in the wrong position. Flipping the switch solved the problem. He then charged us $400 for one hour's work. Company refused to lower the fee. Absolute ripoff! Never do business with these crooks.e

Phase two went as planned. Andy and Sam are very consciences.
It was nice to see an apprentice learning from a pro. The team also offered advice on upcoming projects. Don't hesitate to use Hartlaub. ....you get what you pay for!

On November 16th, Mr. Hollands Heating and Air come to my home to fix my heating system. There was a $170 charge just to come to my house and diagnose the issue. I agreed to this charge.
I left a key for the technician. He called me a few hours later, told me what the problem was and that he had already fixed it. Then he told me that I would be charged $876 for the service. This included the $170 service charge. So roughly $700 for the part, labor and fix. The tech was at my house for about 1.5 hours from diagnosis to job finished.
The technician did not call me to tell me what was wrong before fixing the issue.
Once I got home I inspected the work that was done and I realized that a $100 part was changed out.
I called the following day to dispute the fact that I was not consulted about the diagnosis before the work was done. Had they told me, I would have known immediately that I could have fixed it myself with a $100 Menards run and 20 minutes of my own time. So to start the issues, I have no idea how they justify $700 for the part and labor.
They told me that they would come back to my house to remove the part and then they would give me a refund. Rather than giving me a deal or discount, their plan was to come back to my house and take the part that they installed back.
I offered a solution which was to refund me the labor that I did not agree to, and that they should just charge me for the part which I could prove was $100. They denied this offer.
The following week, a different technician came to my house to uninstall the part. I had gone to Menards, purchased the same part for $98. The technician was nice and was in my house for 13 minutes to remove the part. I then spent 15 minutes installing the same part I had purchased.
I called to follow up the next day to see when I could expect the refund to come through back on my card. I was told it should only take 3-5 days.
A week later I did not see the refund post, so I called again. A gentleman named Jerimiah told me that the refund had not yet been processed. He told me that they would be sending a check which was not previously discussed. I asked if they could just refund my card, and he agreed. I was told that it would be processed that day. Flash forward another 10 days and multiple unreturned phone calls, I still hadn't received my refund. I called again and spoke to someone else, explained the issue and that I was quite upset. She got me a refund within 1 hour (Finally, Thank you.) Absolute incompetence.
They did not call me to discuss the fix and charges before performing the work.
They charged me $700 for a $100 part and 1.5 hours of labor. I have seen their responses to other negative reviews stating that we must pay for the expertise and explaining and training. Sure, I get it, but $400 per hour labor?! That is the worst rip off I have ever heard.
Why not just leave the part and refund the labor in this case? The company spent even more money to send a tech to my house to remove it. I don't understand, and it further inconvenienced me on top of it.
After the original install date of 11/16, I did not get the refund processed to my account until 12/16. They held onto $700 of my money for a month. This was their mistake in the first place, and it took them 30 days to refund me.
I asked for the $170 service charge to be refunded. They did not refund me this. So, on top of the inconvenience, they wouldn't even do anything to try to make it a little easier on me. Nothing for my time and frustration. Nothing to compensate me for their multiple mistakes.
I wish there was more I could do to hold this company and their negligence accountable, but unfortunately, I can't.
I hope people read this and can think twice about using this company. The were kind and cordial on the phone and when they were in my house, but they dropped the ball at every turn.
Also in the picture of the part that they installed, the technician couldn't even screw the bottom cap on correctly.

My heat went out a few days ago and I was scrambling trying to find someone to come out before the weekend. Adam Wellner was the best! He arrived around 6pm (after hours) and was very prompt and thorough and was able to fix the issue quickly. He even took the time to show me what the issue was and what he did to remedy it.  I'm very happy with the service I received!

We feel like we got ripped off! So hard to find AFFORDABLE PROFESSIONAL PLUMBERS! We weren't expecting it to be cheap, but for less than two hours of work, they charged us $894.00! Here is the breakdown:

Evaluation Fee-$59.00
Open wall for diagnostic- $140.00
Remove 1 main shut off supply & install 1 valve; shut off main valve-$695.00

They wanted to charge $80.00 to put in a new faucet(which we bought), but we passed. They were professional, but never again will we use their services. Hope this helps someone else avoid being burned!

Everyone should listen to the negative reviews for this company. Now let's start the review!

My Aunt 70 needed some plumbing done to install a dishwasher, after the work was done he tried to overcharge her for the work tht was done ( don't know if he was playing dumb or trying to pull a fast one) he fixed the bill and my aunt paid

Now For the real negative part of the review...,

11 months and 3 weeks pass and my aunt was cleaning under her sink when she noticed standing water, So she found it was coming from the drain the plumber had fixed so she called hartlub requesting a plumber come out and fix it ( hartlub supposedly has a 1 year warranty on their work)
the lady schedules a plumber to come out 1 day past the warranty.   2 plumbers show up ( nice guys) look at the plumbing and called the office lady. The lady wants $95 plus whatever time it takes them to fix ( around $170 total) my aunt ( 70 years old) said, but i had a 1 year warranty, the lady said she she will make her a deal and just charge the $95 to fix it.  My aunt said no she wanted it fixed under warranty for free because she already paid to have it done once.

The plumber then got back on the phone and walked to the other room. my aunt over heard him say it will take 2 minutes to fix.  when he was done with the call he came back into the kitchen and said he was told too leave without doing any work by the office lady because seeing as it was 1 day out of warranty they weren't going to cover it.

He son had to come over and caulk the heather vent hose for the dishwasher! it took 2 minutes and a little caulk and it was fixed!

Sheisty, petty little company..... do not use them!poor  workmanship

Our toilet was leaking the week of Thanksgiving and we had company coming over in two days. We called Hartlaub and they came over the same day to look at and fix our problem., From the lady who answered the phone to James who was the serviceman that came, we couldn't have been happier with the experience. Everyone was professional and courteous and all pricing was upfront. No hidden fees or surprises.  We would recommend Hartlaub to anyone needing any service they perform. We will definitely be using this company again!

We asked for a quote on a new furnace and new AC unit.  It took 3 weeks to get an appointment.  Day of the appointment the sales person calls and leaves a voicemail.  Never showed up and then the office called and said that person was not feeling well and wanted to schedule into the next week!  Bad customer service turned us away!

Both Andrew and Andy came out today for routine maintenance and both were fantastic.  The best thing I love about your company is that they are both honest.  Please give them both some love and praise as I will continue to use you guys when needed.

If something doesn't need done immediately, give me a time frame on when it needs done, and they did.  People go through financial difficulties for different reasons, and we don't need pressure that it needs fixed right away.  And both those guys, and Wayne on a prior visit did that!

Kudos to those three, thank you for the service and the honest info you provided.  THIS is what sets you apart from the competition.  Keep up the great work Andrew, Andy and Wayne!

Much appreciated!!!!!!!

More of a scan than a business. Referred to them through Home Depot. Charged a $100.00 service fee just to come over and give you a ridiculously high estimate. After declining services based on their estimate they still wanted us to pay this $100 service fee. This was for a basic toilet install btw which is something for which they should not need to perform an estimate. When we questioned this charge they claimed to have a recording of us agreeing to this charge over the phone when the appointment was set up a $100 to just come over and give you an estimate whether or not you agree to the work or not. They claim to mention this charge at the time when you set it up but in case you miss this like I did I'm telling you now.

Edit: Having read the response just wanted to reiterate that this $100.00 charge was absolutely not made abundantly clear. Had this been made clear we would not have agreed to it. What language is used when informing people of this fee?  Do you specifically clearly say the words you will be charged a fee of $100.00? What language do you use and what is your verbiage? If this were clearly stated this charge would be less illegal and problematic.

I want to urge anyone who has also found themselves in this position (which a fair number of the reviewers here have) please join me in making a consumer complaint and also notifying home depot. I know it's a pain but it's important. No one likes being taken advantage of.

In retrospect I should have asked them to leave. This will happen to you make sure you know your rights and ask them to leave.

I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone! My 73 year old  widowed mother recently had Holland over for a furnace check and was told there was 3 major problems with her furnace. They told my mom it was silly to fix these 3 things because of the cost and it would be smarter to get a whole new furnace AND AC!! After sitting down with the Holland salesman and my mom she picked out a new AC and furnace (not the top of the line) for a mere $8000. Since then we had 2 other reputable HVAC companies over to evaluate her furnace (they were not shown any paperwork from Holland furnace assessment). Both HVAC companies said there was absolutely nothing wrong with her furnace!! After their assessments we showed them Hollands assessment and they both shook their heads and said Sorry but you dont need any repairs and definitely do not need a new furnace!!!! They use scare tactics to pressure customers into their lying sales pitches. Cancel your contracts with them if you have one!! They almost took $8000 from my mom!!

We recently had work done by Hartlaub Plumbing. The technician who came out to my home was professional and I felt very comfortable with him being in my home. There were some unique challenges we experienced which required me to contact the owner of the company. I am writing this review because of the response from him. He went above and beyond to make things right and to have a conversation with me about what happened with my basement and the work we had done. Not all companies and owners reach out to learn more from its customers and he did that. I appreciated the followup because it was genuine and kind, and for this reason alone, I would recommend them to others.

My washer started to give us issues so my DW and I decided to downsize the footprint and get a stacked bu we needed to get the electircal service moved first. I got a referral from Home Depot. I picked Hartlaub. We Told them that we have not picked out the washer/dryer yet they said  yet and they said no problem The guy came in and took a few pics and asked if we found I dryer and I said no. (I know nothing about washers/dryers) he said that we would not be able to give an estimate at this time until we knew the type of plug needed. He Charged us $100.00  We Found a gas one and called Hartlaub and they said no problem and came out and used the 100.00 form the last time they came. (remember. Last time they did not give my any kind of estimate.) Well to not make a long story even longer, The plumber came out did it for $646.00 and the $100.00 I guess was a tip. Will never go with them again.

Had a problem with out main toilet and company was coming over the next day; figures. They were able to get a plumber out the next day in the morning and got it fixed; Yeah.

They told me about another issue I could have with the toilet and could fix it while they were there. But I declined and said, thanks but no thanks, I'll take my chances. Sure enough that problem came up; But rather than saying I told you so, they wanted a happy customer and  came back fixed it at NO CHARGE!

I wanted to do business with a local company which why I called them and I'm glad I did. Thanks for a great job and I WILL be using you in the future. I recommend this company as they are solid!

Had an initial issue with scheduling which the owner personally called and offered to make right.  Everyone who I spoke with from the company apologized for the mistake.  The electrician who was sent out on a later date to complete an inspection was professional and courteous.  In the end they took ownership of the mixup which is respectable.

DO NOT HIRE! First of all, they do not honor their On time or your don't pay a dime advertisement. The first guy to show up was late, they charged us full price anyway. But, we liked the tech, so we decided to give them another chance. BIG MISTAKE. All Holland's wants to do us upsell you on needless services and equipment while ignoring real issues.

Three weeks after Holland serviced our A/C unit, the drain line fouled and flooded our basement. The emergency tech that came out clearly saw the problem which would have been avoided with a simple cleaning of the evaporator unit. $3,700 in damages later, and Holland didn't stand behind their work, and in fact, told us it was OUR FAULT for not getting the duct cleaning done. This was after they upsold us on a mold and mildew prevention system because, you know, that could foul the drain line. Was there mold/mildew present? no. Was there a lot of dust and dog hair present? Yes, but they didn't address that, and the basement flooded.

These guys are not to be trusted. They have nice commercials, and sound great, but they do poor work, and will not stand behind their services when things go wrong.

We had them update our ancient-old thermostats for the air conditioning and our electric baseboard heaters. Double the price of anyone else but you won't know that until you pay a trip charge for an estimate. When making the appointment, was assured the estimate charge is removed if, in fact, the work is completed - lie.

Mr Hollands provides excellent customer service. An initial furnace tune-up and inspection done by Chris from Mr. Hollands heating determined that service and parts for needed repairs on our 20 year old furnace would cost about a third of a new furnace. Then Tyler came out and carefully explained the reasons and options (including financing) for replacing our furnace with a new, more efficient unit. After scheduling a install date a few days later, Paul and Spencer installed the new furnace and thermostat. Everyone at Mr. Hollands was very friendly, easy to work with and knowledgeable. I highly recommend Mr. Hollands for any heating and cooling work on your home.

I called hartlaub with what I thought was asking to have them come out and check on a leak in a mechanical room. I asked that they check before replacing the water heater, but they just brought one out and installed it while my wife was there. The tech didn't even do an inspection of the space which turned out that there was nothing wrong with the water heater. The leak was coming from a drain pipe from the second floor mechanical room. Anyway the new water heater is installed and the leak was never fixed. I had to fix it myself. While the tech was there he also bumped the switch to the furnace and shut off the heat, mind you it was middle of winter and the pipes would have frozen had my wife not noticed the heat was switched off. When she brought it up to the tech he laughed and said we were in trouble with how cold it was outside and blamed her for it being off. Worst service I have ever had from a plumber. Will never use or recommend this company

I had a new granite counter top installed in my kitchen and needed a plumber to come hook up the sink and i also wanted to replace the current garbage disposal.  The guy who came out to quote it told us he could hookup a new garbage disposal no problem and we agreed to his quote so we gave him a deposit and scheduled them to come back the day after the counter top was installed.  That day was today and the guy who came to quote it was the not the guy doing the plumbing work, well the guy who came to install it said he couldn't wire the garbage disposal how the the first guy said he could.  Long story short they went over and beyond my expectations, had a electrician come wire the garbage disposal and did not charge a penny more for the additional work they had to do.  I am very pleased and without a doubt plan to use them again for any additional plumbing or electrical work i may need in the future.

I had Holland install a new furnace and A/C unit in my home and clean all ductwork. They also removed the old oil tank from the basement. Despite the fact they forgot to bring a filter to install with the furnace (I ran out and bought one) the job was done expertly and courteously, and everything was even cleaner when they left than when they got there! Spotless. They also came back with a filter a few days later.  I would recommend them.
