Not worth the 1 star we have to give them. Please ask for a different company if your warranty company assigns them. They were unprofessional.

It started May 12th. My ac system went out and I contacted my home warranty to get service. I called that following Monday May 14th to schedule someone to come out. A technician came out on Tuesday May 15th. He assessed what was wrong and told me he needed to submit paperwork to the warranty and they would most likely order the part. Waiting, and waiting for any word, I called to see what was going on and who was ordering the part. I was told by bell cow that the warranty was ordering the part so I call my warranty. They said they received the paperwork and of course needed to review it then would order the part and would be approximately 5 to 10 days. I called back the warranty on the 24th because I was wondering where my part was and when it would be installed. They informed me that the technician did not fill out the paperwork correctly until the 19th which delayed the part being ordered until the 21st. Finally received a call on May 25th stating I owed $375 before anything would be scheduled. May 29th between 8 and 12. I called back on either the 26th or 27th to ask if there was anyone that could come out sooner because it was so humid and hot out that I couldn't keep my children cool. I received a call back on Sunday the 27th saying you're scheduled for Tuesday that's when we'll be out. Tuesday came and the technician shows up to my home just to tell me he cannot repair my ac because it's raining. So they said they'd look for a window of no rain to come do the repair but most likely not that week due to the rain forecast. It did not rain Wednesday nor Thursday. Still no call. I called on the 31st to ask when someone would be out and they put my call request in and no call. So I emailed Kelly again who I dealt with previously to ask when someone planned on coming to my home. She said someone could come out Saturday June 2nd. Saturday comes and the technician arrives and fixes the issue. Sunday June 3rd we are out most of the day and come home to a muggy house. We had the thermostat set to 67. It was 78 degrees inside. The air was blowing and was warm. I emailed kelly back because I knew I'd get no where with calling. She said she needed to refer my account to the manager due to time issues. That was Monday June 4th. Nothing back. June 7th I called and was told to await a call back to my husband the next day because I was fed up and did not want to speak with anyone anymore. He never received a call. I got angry on my way to work on Sunday June 10th. I called my warranty. They put in a request that day to have someone call me. If no one did by end of day Monday or Tuesday morning i was to call them back. I also messaged someone on Facebook on Sunday and Monday on the bell cow page. They responded saying someone would contact me shortly on Monday. No contact. Monday evening at 635pm I received a phone call saying that they received the request 15 minutes prior to the call (The request that was sent Sunday before 2pm). They stated someone would be in contact I'm positive they said the next day June 12th. No call all day. I called my warranty. I explained the entire situation and they put in another request. And said they'd follow up in the morning. I received a call from Christine from Bell cow at 630pm. She said she would forward my information to management. No manager ever contacted me at any point as asked for. June 13th finally someone came to test the system. He sent findings to warranty company. I recieved a call from bell cow saying i owe over $900 in non coverage charges. I lost my cool for a moment and said one curse asking if they were kidding. I said i needed to speak to a manager. Was told he would call me back after he was off the phone. Instead he emailed my warranty company saying i was rude and cursing at employees and they refuse service. They never actually fixed the cooling issue. My service was transferred to another company who found different information and is resolving it.
The Tech was very friendly.......the issue is his office response to submitting the NEEDED paperwork to my home warranty company. It has been over 48 hours since he LEFT our home and they still have not turned in the findings to my warranty company so the a/c issue can be resolved. Our house is over 90 degrees, I have two young children and pets that are suffering as fans only do so much and surely we can't sleep in the tub with the cold water running constantly to stay cool. I will NEVER recommend this company as they have ignored the home warranties request to get the paperwork submitted yesterday and and again today.
When I had a home warranty, they sent out Bell Cow. They were reliable and on time.
So when I had a need for a HVAC tech, I called Bell Cow. I called twice and left messages. Bell Cow never called me back. Unfortunately, I can no longer rely on this business. If I could give them zero stars, I would.

Not even sure where to begin about this merry band of idiots! Perhaps the plumbing part of their name is true but the cooling part is a flat out lie! Of the three technician's that have so far been out to fix my HVAC unit, not one has had a clue how to actually fix one. First it was low coolant which was topped off and after a week it stopped working. Next visit was to top off again but adding sealant this time. Again after a week the unit stopped working. The next diagnosis was hole in the coil too large for the sealant to plug. Would have thought that should have been found on the first through inspection they proudly bragged about providing for me but I digress! My unit was replaced 3 years ago so the coil was under warranty but would take two weeks to get it. The install however required code upgrades that were not covered. I had to pay these clowns $635 to change out the coil! This all took place on Tuesday and now it's Sunday and my HVAC unit is not working again!!! My relationship started with Bell Cow thru my home warranty company Old Republic. I am now locked in with these guys till my problem is solved or pay out of pocket to hire a real HVAC company! I am now waiting for a call to schedule my next day off from work, which will now amount to a full week of my vacation time wasted, so I can let someone else try and fix my unit! Buyer beware doesn't even begin to cover this fiasco with both Bell Cow and Old Republic Home Warranty. Rest assured my warranty will be moved elsewhere after this and my lawyer will be called if this isn't the last Bell Cow visit to my home. Zero stars would be too many for this company! Stay, no RUN away!
The technician and his apprentice - who installed our new very quite Ruud system - were very professional. Unfortunately there were some install hick-ups over the weekend. My complaint is Bell Cow has no emergency personnel available on the weekend if there are issues. We had to wait till Monday to get a response. Bell Cow was quick to respond once they were back to work. They did fix the issue promptly. But if you decide to employ Bell Cow for your a/c installation, you should consider the fact of no response available on the weekend.
My warranty company/American Home Shield/who I have been with over 5 years contracted with Bell Cow to fix my AC. It has now been over 3 weeks during which time they had to order parts and finally fixed the AC. Two days later it went out completely, It is now out and parts will be ordered next week. It has been as warm in our unit as 84 degrees and this is in cool weather. There are 16 units in our building and 14 have been replaced. The building is over 20 years old and our AC unit is the original one. Our contract with American Home Shield covers replacement but they want to continue to try to fix it, I don't have a problem with the technician. I think he did a good job. The problem is with Bell Cow mgt and American Home Shield. Not good customer service by either one.
Non responsive and unreliable If I could give no stars I would. Bell Cow installed a new Trane system for our upstairs in our dual zone home in October 2019. They told us our other system installed by a competitor wasn't the right one to do the job. Had problems/failure at the height of summer. Had to contact them five times to get a repairman out. Finally repaired it but wanted to charge us during the first year after installation! Then the humidity in our home went through the roof. Took several calls and when they finally came out they said it wasn't their unit contributing to the problem. Eventually called another company to install a dehumidifier in our crawl space. Now the same unit which is only 14 months from installation failed to heat! An emergency call to their answering machine at 8:30 in the morning yesterday has gone unanswered. The customer service of this company is terrible.

My daughter used this company because the insurance company made her and they only made her problems worse and after fighting with them and the insurance company for months she gave up and now it's costing her $3000 to repair the problem that BellCow created. They installed too large of a system for the room and messed up the venting system. See the picture of the mess they left and the job that looks like a second grader did it. I don't know how they stay in business.
I encountered Bell Cow in connection with trying to get some electrical work done using our home warranty company First American Home Warranty. They scheduled an electrician to come out to our home on a Friday about two weeks ago. He took pictures of the four items we needed to be fixed and indicated that he would send the pictures and a report to First American for their authorization to do the work.
When I had not heard from First American or Bell Cow by the following Wednesday I called First American and was told that they had not received any paperwork from Bell Cow. I called Bell Cow and was told that the technician had not submitted the report, allegedly because he had been out with a stomach virus. Interestingly, they called later that day and stated that they had received the report from the electrician (magically). They stated that First American Home Warranty Company had denied paying for any of the work. They stated that we were now cash customers of Bell Cow and that they could do this work for $375.
We called First American and told that it was not the case that they would not pay for this work and that they would pay for at least two of the four items that needed to be done (bathroom exhaust fan and ceiling fan).
Based on our interaction with Bell Cow, it appears that they tried to do an end around to leave First American out of the picture, presumably because they were not content with what they would get paid by the home warranty company. This is blatantly dishonest, in my opinion.
First American sent out an electrician from a different company after we spent literally hours on the telephone with them. That electrician indicated that he had heard similar stories about Bell Cow. He gave the example of an elderly woman being told by Bell Cow that her entire house would need to be rewired and that they would do that for $14,000. This electrician went to her house and found that not to be the case and fixed the problem for vastly less.
Given Bell Cow's apparent dishonesty, it is both troubling and puzzling that First American Home Warranty Company continues to do business with them. The majority of the companies they have set over to us have terrible ratings on Yelp and elsewhere. If I could give them a negative star rating, I certainly would do so.

Absolutely terrible. Totally non responsive. After they fixed my hvac I had water leaking through my ceiling. I have called 9 times in the last month to get in touch with the Va Beach manager who refuses to call me back. Bell Cow was sent through my home warranty company. If I could give zero stars, I would!
Found and fixed holes in roof from rats/squirrels. Great Guys
Stay away - horrible customer service. Phone rings and rings. Regional supervisor, Ron, a complete jerk. Technician was nice and professional but the rest - horrid - run from them!
Absolutely amazing service! They called me less than an hour after receiving the work order from my home warranty company, and managed to squeeze us in ahead of schedule as they were nearby on another job. Butch arrived promptly, was friendly, professional and knowledgeable, and got the work done in good time. I highly recommend Bell Cow for HVAC work and will be using them again and recommending them to everyone I know! Thank you for making my house comfortable again!!!!
Butch came out to service our A/C for 2 separate incidences. In the past I have always felt cheated and upsold on services for appliances that I'm not educated on, but not this time. Not only is Butch a straight shooter, but he explained to me how the unit works, and what I can do myself to prolong the life of my A/C. I will definitely be using Bell Cow again, just hopefully not anytime soon.
One of the worst service experiences I've ever had. Do not use them! I had water coming through my ceiling from the A/C unit destroying things in the unit. Bell cow was suppose to come out the next day according to my property manager. They didn't even call to make an appointment till two days later to show up the next week. They didn't specify a time of day they would show up. I can have my building manager who's there all day let them in so I wasn't as concerned with the specific time of day assuming they would call prior. On the day of the appointment the service tech doesn't not call ahead of time. He called once when outside the building and did not leave a message and then left. Didn't even try. When I called the unknown number back it said the mailbox wasn't set up. I get 10 bogus spam calls a day. You have to leave a message in 2018. I called bell cow back and asked them why no one showed up and they proceeded to accuse me of not being home and acted like I screwed up. Horrible customer service. The next date almost a week later the tech tried to do the same thing and then when I immediately answered he acted like it was my fault that he couldn't find parking. If you called AHEAD OF TIME I could save you a spot buddy!! When I asked him why he only tried one call and gave up on the previous day he got heated with me and threatened to leave. After fixing the issue and leaving water started coming through the ceiling again. I called the tech back and he took a few more basic trouble shooting steps he should have done first and seemed to resolve it this time. I had no choice about this company because the home owners insurance booked them. I can guarantee you I would never give them a cent. Avoid at all costs.
We had an incident with our upstairs plumbing. Through our home warranry company, the service was contracted to Bell Cow. Id never heard of them, but of course just happy to have someone fix the problem.
We were given an 8-12 window. The technician, Mike Dawson, called around 9:15; he said he'd arrive approx 10:15-10:30. He was punctual, arriving at 10:20.
Mike assessed the problem within 5 minutes! Granted it was not a mind-bender. It was a minor fix. But for us, it was a potential disaster (water coming from back of toilet). In fact, Mike said that we were smart to turn off the water valve in that bathroom because the pressure could have caused the cracked top of the hose/pipe to blow off, leaving us with water everywhere.
Again, I realize this was a minor repair. But I appreciate so many other things about Mike. He was punctual. He was courteous and friendly. He was professional. These qualities are important to me; we see less and less of these these days. I would gladly have him handle any of our plumbing issues.
Thank you, Mike Dawson! Thank you Bell Cow. Thank you AHS.

The general manager Chris or CJ (not sure what his name is because he gave me 2 different names when i asked) are is unprofessional. This company is a joke! They were assigned to me by my home Warrenty company and they fixed my AC unit with a new contacter because the one my unit had blew out. It didn't fix the problem and then both my units went out so i called them back and they came out again two weeks later to look at my systems. I had contacted the main office to see if there was any way that they could come out earlier due to having small children in the home in my house being close to 100° on the inside. My mother had just had a kidney transplant so it's vital that her body stays cool during her healing process and I tried to explain that to them on the phone but the lady said there was no way that they could come out any earlier. I asked to speak to that Chris or CJ guy which was supposedly the manager and he was ridiculously rude. I tried to level with him and just talk to him like a human being and tell him the situation in hopes that maybe he could offer some overtime to a technician or see if somebody could squeeze me in at the end of the day to at least come look at the unit because of how hot it was in the house. He was so rude to me and said that he's a supervisor and he would not be doing that. I asked him if they offered any kind of overtime to the technicians and he told me yes but we're not doing this for you. He said if I didn't like it then I could just call my home warranty company and they could send somebody else out. I asked to speak with the owner and he told me that it wasn't possible because he doesn't talk to people like me. I asked for his name and contact information and he refused to give it to me at first. He eventually gave me the guys name but said that's all he could give me. We disconnected the phone and the next day was my set appointment. The tech that completed the work was really nice but basically said that the contactor was blown again but I would have to pay this time to have it installed because my home warranty didn't cover the last time and he got in trouble by the Chris/check guy. Go figure after I have a conversation with this guy all of a sudden my air-conditioning problem isn't covered anymore when it was the last time they were out. Just a crappy company trying to scam its consumers. Well jokes on you friend I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and with my home warranty. They said they're no longer going to use your company due to the negligence in the way that you treat your customers. Now they are supposed to come back to my house because they are supposed to replace a fan motor in my second unit but are waiting on my home warranty to approve it and again not surprised I got a call from a home warranty company this time stating that they no longer wanna do business with me and they want a transfer to another company. My home warranty company explained to me that they will no longer be using them which unfortunately sucks for the owner because I'm not sure if he knows how his management team is treating the customers. Ultimately it's gonna cost him money in the long run which sucks for small business owners. Hopefully he realizes or she, not sure if the owner is a man or a woman because the manager was so shady and wouldn't give me all the information- but they realize that they're losing income due to their staffing. I can also tell you right now that we do use Bell cow as a vendor for my work but after this entire situation I spoke to my ownership in my upper management about it and we will no longer be using them at my properties that I work for. This kind of business and treatment is not tolerated in our business. I'd the owner would like to reach out to me I'm sure he can get my contact info from the two work orders and we can discuss what happened and how he can fix it. In closing, choose another company! If they had just showed some customer service and just had been polite. Being rude never helps!

Bell Cow, and especially Butch, is a stand up company with a stand up technician! In an age where selling BS is the way to get ahead, Bell Cow and Butch bring back good old fashioned customer service, honesty, and effective service. I'll never have another company work on my HVAC system again, and Butch, coupled with Bell Cow, is the reason why. Give them a call and find out what a company and its people are supposed to be like! You'll be glad you did.

We were supposed to have a new system put in today. They ordered the parts last week and they came in on Tuesday. They started to come out this morning and they called and said they had the wrong parts. I stayed home from work today to get this done. Why didn't they look at the parts on Tuesday or yesterday instead of waiting til the last minute when my shift has already been covered and I'm out of a vacation day. Dont waste your time and money on these people! Edit: they did know about this yesterday but did not have the decency to let us know ahead of time.

I had an appointment today with Bell Cow Heating and cooling, through First American Home Warrenty. The appointment was for today 8-12, typical window of service. I paid the service fee before the technician came so my brother (tenant that lives in the house) would not have to worry about the payment. The tech Anthony came out and said the HVAC could not be fixed because the door was on the unit. No problem, it can be taken off. Oh well my foreman doesn't want for me to wait around for that to be taken off. Well it will take 5 minutes tops to rip it down, which my brother did so. It will cost you another $357 on top of the $95 service fee to clean the unit.
So we told the tech that we wanted to call First American to verify the coverage first. The tech said he couldn't wait and that he had two other jobs to do instead. I feel as if he took other jobs (for the money) instead of starting on the work, while we made a quick call. He said he would be back.
Later, I am out at the dentist, but my brother is waiting for his arrival at the home. The Tech said since I didn't pick up the phone that I was not on pause for the job but that they would come back on Monday.
I let him know that I knew that was going to happen. Never let them leave the job site. I informed him that we called to verify the fee and that First American didn't take care of maintenance. I understood.
But by now, he informed me that he was done with work for the day (even though he had replaced our time slot with 2 other customers). He said well I can't do it. That his foreman would give me a call and change the appointment date. By now, I felt that other customers had taken priority. Please remember, I was never present for the appointment, we are talking over the phone before the appointment and he talked to my husband but my brother lives in the home.
He informed me, if he came back, that he must be paid up front per his foreman's instructions. Very nasty on the phone and insisted that You will pay the $357. I said I understand the $357 but now you want for me to pay you before you start. No, my husband is there, and he will sit there with the check but we don't pay anyone before the job is complete. So to save face he accused me of calling him a liar. What!! So his foreman Butch, who seemed to be upset that I called him what his technician call him, foreman proceeded to tell me that they were refusing service to me and that I talk too much. Yes I was upset. They didn't do the work and will take your money before doing a proper job. We should have went with Artic Air. They do good jobs for us. I feel discriminated against over asking about the fee. NEXT, NEXT that is how I was treated. You have the right to question about these extra fees. DONT DO BUSINESS with Bell Cow. No stars.
Tech arrived with the wrong part that was ordered, over a month ago. I have been without AC for over two months. The incompetence throught out this BellCow branch is astounding!
Over the pass ten months atleast 10-12 Techs has been out to my consistently misdiagnosing problems and costing me close to $2000.00. I have been forced to purchase window AC units for my home due to the turn of events by BellCow techs and leadership! This has been a nightmare dealing with this Company!
This has been the slowest repair I ever had they misdiagnosis the a/c leak and having to go back and forth with the home warranty company then come to find out the a/c condenser is leaking so now my home warranty company ordered that it comes in a week later now I can not get a hold of any one to schedule my appointment so I can get it fixed been calling all day and they just don't answer or I will let the lady know and she will call you back have yet to get a call back so this has been a month and a half and still no ac so I would not advise you to use this company at all I hope they will finally fix my ac but who knows
I highly recommend Bell Cow - they were sent to us via American Home Shield. They arrived on the day and within the four hour time window of the appointment time I was provided. The technician, Maurice, was very professional and patient with my many questions about my HVAC. He explained what the problem was, showed me the issue and provided me great educational reminders about the importance of routine maintenance. He brought in a temperature meter and didn't leave until the house until it started to cool off a few degrees to be certain it was fixed. I appreciated the professionalism, knowledge and customer service Mr. Ousley gave us.

I would highly recommend Bell Cow. A representative answered my call...no voicemail, which allowed me to book them quickly. Their scheduled worked with my schedule. The electrician, Jon called ahead, was on time and was extremely professional. He explained what he was doing and why. I had expected this service call to take several hours out of my day, but was pleasantly surprised. He had the parts to fix the problem in the right way.
I had them come out for an HVAC problem through my home warranty company. They sent out a technician who made things worse. I had heat prior to him coming out when he left nothing worked. When he returned he got the AC going, problem was it was freezing and he left us with no heat. When we asked for a manager they sent out the same technician who couldn't fix it in the first place. When we called again the manager, Butch said he would look into. Butch just called the home warranty company told them he wasn't sending anybody out to fix it. This company appears to me to be a scam out for a money grab. Don't use them find some real trust worthy company. They are not it.
Had to troubleshoot my own system after they left to figure out what they screwed up and why my AC wouldn't work anymore.
We were referred by Home Advisor. A tech came to our Pungo area home and was not comfortable working outside due to bumblebees and dragonflies and plants. He wanted me to cut a swath of plants away from the hvac unit so the plants did not touch him. This is a new request in our experience with home technicians.
Nonetheless, he wanted to run a diagnostic in order to charge the service call fee. He diagnosed that the unit had a freon leak. I said it was covered by a Goodman warranty. He said the search for the leak would not be covered and would cost $800 and we should go with someone else.
Later I learned, from another company, that any company can do warranty work. He apparently did not want to.
We suffered in the heat until we found Atlantic Coastal hvac. They came out and the cost of the repair was only the service call. $69. It was just a loose wire. There was no leak in the freon system. We are now in the process of going after the $75 service call fee that Bell Cow charged, since it lead to no service and produced an erroneous diagnosis and needless suffering for us. Bell Cow has not been responsive, so we started the process through Home Advisor.

Should have read reviews and saved our money! After speaking to them on the phone about what was needed and being quoted under $100 to come to our home to diagnose an issue (as well as mentioning that we needed a detailed, itemized report to provide for our home warranty which we NEVER received even after calling after date of service), they charged us $286 without any indication of such a price increase based on our quote, until it was time to pay.
Any company that is dishonest and not trustworthy will never receive our business again, nor will be recommended. They even sent us a bill a month later requesting more money for the taxes the worker did not collect from us. I called the company to discuss the overcharge and the bill asking for even more money, yet the manager copped an attitude and was extremely rude and provided us with nothing in return to remedy to situation or assist with the over $200 extra we paid without any notice of that. WOW! Do not use them! They will not do what they say, and they will charge you MUCH MUCH MORE than what they say!!!
I had a horrible experience with Bell Cow. Tech was rude and when I stated I did not like the way he was speaking to me, he walked out the front door and never returned. Can not comment on the service because the tech wanted me to figure out the problem. I called Arctic Heating and cooling and the tech had my problem solved and was in and out with 30 minutes. I highly recommend this company if you want fast, professional and courteous service. I liked them so much I signed up for their yearly contract on my 3 zone system.
This is the most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. Never showed up for my scheduled appointment and when I called they said I didn't have an appointment. I had already been without air for three weeks and they wanted me to reschedule for the next week. The manager was even more unprofessional. He called me and kept making lame excuses about what had happened. When I told him he should make this mistake right he then told me that he was refunding the money I paid in advance right then. Work was not gonna get done. Never again for this company
No I was not happy. The company sent someone to look at our heat and they stated we needed our coils cleaned. We set an appointment to get them cleaned and the tech called me that morning to confirm what he was supposed to do. They never cleaned the coils and when I asked for the manager to discuss the issue he was completely not helpful. He tried to tell me I did not have an appointment for that. I advised him and advised him the price his office gave me for the job. He tried to tell me that was not the correct price. After confirming with his office he came back to say I was correct. So I was cleanly given this appoint and price to have the work done. Then the 2nd tech stated nothing was wrong with the coils. That was completely different from what the 1st tech said. This was needed for the sale of the home. I explained the urgency to get this done and get the receipt but they did not care at all!
The manager really needs training on how to handle issues like this. I will never use this company again. This is the company the home warranty uses but I will never use them again.

They came out and work on the wrong heat pump the tech was honest and apologise but the people above him is very unprofessional telling me to put out another service call but they was wrong for working on a non contracted item so instead of having one unit down now i have two so it least come fix your mistake.. I will never recomend theme to any one the will take your money and run.
I used to use Bell Cow HVAC for my heating and air conditioning needs up until a couple of days ago. Bell Cow tried saying it was a $ 500.00 part at first, than they said it was another $500 part than tried to say my heat exchanger was cracked than suggested I get a whole new unit. With all that being said than they wanted me to get a new air conditioning system as well. So what started out at 500 ended up at nearly 6000. What a joke. Had another company come out and check the whole system out. Yes it was the original $500.00 and nothing else. The manager and technician from Bell Cow were on the phone the whole time, he was here. The manager was trying to tell me what was wrong without stepping foot onto my property. I will never recommend them to anyone any more. your loss, trying to get over on people.
Wow!! Maurice came out early this morning, I told him my concerns and he immediately knew what I was talking about, assessed the situation and was very professional and knowledgeable. I didn't feel cheated on the items he sold me on and I felt pleased and excited about my upcoming appointment that I have with Bell Cow Heating and Cooling. The service was outstanding, Thank you so much Maurice Ousley

They've definitely lived up to the bad reviews received on here. Worthy of a zero or negative star rating.
They were sent to me through American Home Shield over the summer to look at a system that is in a rental property. At the time, they told AHS that air handler needed to be replaced. But they also proceeded to tell my tenant that major construction was needed, the upstairs closet would be taken away, and that she would not be able to live in the house for several days. Obviously afraid of being displaced temporarily, she didn't want me to move ahead with the work until it was necessary to heat the house. Bell Cow submitted a quote to American Home Shield that mentioned I would need to pay about $800 out of pocket, while Bell Cow turned around and called me directly saying that I would need to pay about $1400. When I reported the differences in numbers to AHS, they basically said that unless Bell Cow submitted revised numbers, the number they received is what stood as far as they are concerned. When I called asked Bell Cow about the things mentioned to my tenant, Michelle said none of that held true. Naturally, I did not authorize this work with so much unresolved.
In November, I called AHS to move forward since winter was approaching. Bell Cow took several weeks before they acknowledged having the air handler. AHS still told me the figures they had were about $800. This time Bell Cow tells me $1300 + cost of access (to be fair, the cost of access is a normal additional fee). It took several calls to AHS to even get an idea of why the numbers differed. One rep went as far to say that AHS really has no role in the matter beyond the initial connection between customer and contractor.
Bell Cow sent out a technician on Nov. 30 who proceeded to tell my tenant that they would have to take away a closet that is near the return duct, bring the air handler through the roof, do major electrical work, and that the house wasn't safe. When the tenant told them to update the homeowner (me), they said it was her job to do so, not theirs. Did Bell Cow bother to call myself or AHS? No.
I called another contractor with no AHS ties who had previously recommended replacing the entire system and provided a straightforward quote that included ALL needed work. That company told me it was a one day job. I have scheduled the work, so just awaiting that to take place.
Good news was the fact that I was able call back AHS and take advantage of their cash option, which at least addresses a part of the cost of the system.
Home Warranty company had Bell Cow come to Richmond from Norfolk to our home. Not as responsive to calls as I would have liked but they got the job done once approval was given by the home warranty company. Mike and Christian were our plumbers and they were nice to deal with and worked to get our home repiped quickly. They cleaned up before leaving each night and always called before arriving. Good dudes.
I'm happy to share with you why I cancelled my maintenance contract with Bell Cow.
First, several times I complained to Bell Cow that I kept smelling a sour/dirty sock smell whenever I turned the A/C on with my HVAC unit (which I bought from them!). They'd send people out, but never did solve the problem. Oh, they'd clean the coils alright, then leave. But, the problem has persisted now for over two years. So, I turned to others for help and learned there is a bacteria that will grow on the HVAC coils and cause the odor (supposedly a common problem with Heat Pumps/HVAC) until specially treated. I also learned Bell Cow technicians failed to point out and address other issues I was having with my HVAC unit, such as the caulking on the apron needing to be replaced to prevent water intrusion, some ducting tears that need to be fixed, etc.
Lastly, at no time during my 4 year association with Bell Cow did any of their people ever circle back with me to see if I was satisfied with their service, had any questions, or had any other needs. In addition, they never provided me with the name of a single point of contact who I could call if and when I did have a need, problem, or question.
So, I finally decided to take my business elsewhere. Like the old saying goes, Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me! Bell Cow is just another big company that talks the talk, but doesn't walk the walk.
First American Home Warranty insists on using this fly by night organization for major HVAC repairs. They first came to our home in June 2018 to replace the refrigerant in the system. They came back again a year later to do the same thing. Then, in November 2021 the replaced the attic air-handler. Bell Cow had to come back in March of 2022 because the heat would not cut on. In January 2023 they completely replaced the entire HVAC system--air handler, outdoor heat pump, pipe fittings, filled with refrigerant. Today, the system has failed...again. No cooling and the outdoor heat pump will not power up although the air handler is running. The thermostat is set at 72 but it's 83 in the house.
Don't let anybody from Bell Cow HVAC anywhere near your home if you want things repaired correctly. And if you have a home warranty, or are thinking of getting one, stay away from First American Home Warranty---they only hire the cheapest contractors they can find.
Had a driver tailgating me on Warwick blvd in a Bell Cow truck today. If they can't be trusted on the road I wouldn't trust them in my home.
Terrible service! To be honest this was a home warranty call, and perhaps they treat home warranty calls with less care than their regular cash caller! I have a tenant that is a single mother with 3 year old twins in a 4 story condo. He said he couldn't get roof access and needs to coordinate with condo manager. Why? Because he couldn't find it!!! I do not consider myself a genius, I press the button on the elevator to the 4th (highest floor), then notice two rust doors without numbers held closed by a loose nail. The first door is storage and the 2nd door i tried has permanent iron ladder to the roof with an unlocked hatch. He did NOT fix the unit because he said he couldn't find the access!?!? This was Friday and temps in the 90's inside the home in the mid 80's. Fridge is not working properly due to the heat. I called on Monday and said they could not schedule for that day. I asked the tech to call me. He did and stated he couldn't find the access, I got heated and stated that if it was your mother, sister or grandparent you would give a bit more care and find it! He said to change my attitude. I told him attitude is irrelevant at this point. He is NOT coming out that day I had to find another HVAC Tech that fixed it that same day! How can someone NOT find a roof access. It took me under 2 minutes to find it. He simply didn't give a darn! How can I or anyone let a family go without HVAC for another day for no reason other than a lack of care. She already spent an additional few days without cooling because of a lack of professionalism! I told him I would review his business he said go ahead, so here it is. By the way, I do have a picture of the access to the roof and a video showing how EASY it is to find. I can post if desired.

Holy Bell cow talk about incompetence. When purchasing a home it was somehow set up with the previous owner to have Bell cow come out. There was an issue with a drain pan of an air conditioner in the Attic of a two-story house. The first time they came out they couldn't fix it because they brought the wrong parts. The second time they came out we were fed some BS by the technician that we needed a new thermostat and it wasn't in the agreement. It was very confusing but he did a great job leaving without the unit running. We brought another technician out from another company and he was pretty appalled at what he saw up there. He did get it running but the unit was not cooling. Once we got the unit working we were rewarded with water running all over our house from the attic all the way down to the main floor. The problem being the draIn pan they were originally brought out for. In the end a new technician to the company came out and was pretty appalled at the craftsmanship and feeling pretty bad about it. He told his company they needed to make it right and they did and I thank that individual for that. But the previous four technicians would probably screw up a one-car funeral.

I would give zero stars if I could.
Through the negligence of this company we have been living without any heat in our home for six months. We got a BRAND NEW system from them through our warranty company. We paid thousands of dollars to Bell Cow out of pocket just for the new system to be installed incorrectly. They did not make sure the breaker could handle the new system nor did they even advise us that electrical would cause an issue. Now they are refusing to come and even look at their mistake with out trying to charge us even more.
Do not use this company.

Absolutely impossible to reach anyone by phone -- holds were interminable. Also difficult to get appointments in a timely manner. Repairs were either not done at all or not done right. One time the technician just went to one of our long-term rentals and left, without contacting us to tell us what he needed to fix the poor tenants' heat pump in the middle of summer.
Avoid at all costs. They had the nerve to snail mail me a form to sign up for their subscription services. I don't THINK so!!!
So, let's see. I had a home warranty and an old HVAC died. They came in, and installed the new system, but charged me $2500 extra for bringing the old home up to code. Which I paid for.
Then.... a week later, I noticed my ceiling was drooping. I crawled into the attic, to find the entire ceiling was flooding. I called it in and the regional manager promptly showed up. Upon inspection, he said he guys messed up the install in several ways, most notably, the put the drip pan, in the wrong place (i.e. the flood).
So, I told him my daughter can sleep in my house next door until they can repair the system. What I didn't know was, that I would then have to chase someone done late into the next week to get anything scheduled.
When the did come out and correct the issue, the left my daughter having to store her entire wardrobe on the floor. The ceiling is still not fixed, and nobody has even attempted to schedule it to be repaired.
So now, I play phone tag, with the 1 800 number people. Why am I having to CHASE down support, for their mistake? Long holds, phone disconnects... I originally posted a 5 star review... but, can not stand by that any more.... Customer service is step one in being a trustworthy company.

I had a technician come out from American Home Shield. The guy told me that he would not pump the freon into the unit and I had to buy all new refrigerant from them since that's how they make their money.
Sketchy company that is out to screw people so they can make money. The technician made up lies to American Home Shield once I told him I wasn't buying freon and he could re-use it. American Home Shield said they denied the HVAC TEX valve failure since the home owner caused it to go bad.
Never do business with this company!!
