HISTORY

Established in 2007.
After serving in Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm as a Cavalry Scout (19D) in the US Army, upon honorable discharge, Ed studied Electronic Instrumentation Technology at Texas State Technical College. Upon graduation with honors in early 1995, he went to work for International Paper Corp. in a heavy industrial construction and start up environment for three years. Later, he would work for Louisiana Pacific Corp. in a similar capacity advancing from a shift electrician to electrical department supervisor and eventually Maintenance Superintendent over the course of 9 years. Ed began filling the needs of wood products facilities and worked shutdown maintenance on weekends, upgrading existing production equipment in NE Texas, NW Louisiana, and southern Arkansas.

ABOUT BUSINESS OWNER

After marrying his Central-South Texas sweetheart, Rachel, Ed fell in love with the culture and beauty of the area. He listened to and followed his heart by leaving the Fortune 500 game, fully committing to his dream of serving South Texas by founding Wheat Electric & Controls, LLC in 2007. The company began by building numerous commercial projects (6 Planet Fitness locations throughout San Antonio and Austin). Wanting to return to his professional roots, Ed sought industrial clientele, and upon achieving his goal, he never looked back while continuing to serve commercial and residential customers. To this day, over 30 facilities rely upon the expertise of Wheat Electric to stay profitable and in production.

Wheat electric was extremely responsive and maintained excellent communication until our project was completed. The technicians were very personable and knowledgeable completing the task in a timely manner. The attention to detail was evident and the clean up was second to none. Hiring local companies seem to bring with it a higher sense of accountability knowing it is highly likely they will see you in the community. I will definitely use Ed and his crew for any other electrical needs

This is the second time we have used Wheat Electrical. Once during the holidays where I failed to cover the ends of the outdoor light plugs and we blew a fuse on one side of our house! I called several companies and no one could come for several days. Ed answered the phone and was working out of town on a job but sent someone to our house within 2 hours. Today he came over to install ceiling fans and he and his helper, Jose were both so polite.
Wheat Electric will always be the first company I call for any electrical needs!!!

Ed did an awesome job! When he came to fix our heartland machine I could tell he knew what he was doing and he was very honest. He worked diligently for 2 days and got it fixed for us. We are so thankful we found Ed Wheat, and will not hesitate to call in the future. We had other electricians come try to fix the issues for us but it was to no avail. We are very happy with the service that we received!
