Called Russell Electric at 2:48pm and the circuit breaker that runs my A/C was replaced by 4:15pm.  We even tried troubleshooting the problem over the phone before he came out....  Thomas was very knowledgeable and provided fast and friendly service.  They will be my first phone call from here on out for any electrical problem.

Thomas was available and came to our home within an hour of my call.  He efficiently and expertly solved our problem.  I recommend him without reservation!

I'm sorry. I wish I could let this go, but I cannot. I'm not going to allow anyone to discredit nor minimize my experience.

It appears that this company has changed their initial  response to my review. If I recall, the owner initially apologized and stated that he had a long day. Now, he writes that my husband was acting funny about paying him, and that he had to wait 30 minutes for a payment; implying that we were trying to swindle him.

Since, I have to break it down for you...Why would we give you our credit card information after the way you treated us?  We didn't trust you!! That's why you had to wait in your truck (outside our home) for me to get cash. Obviously, we were willing to use a credit card or we would've had cash on hand.

$175?!?! Really??? We are both educated professionals with high paying jobs. Trust me, we don't need to cheat and/or steal from you. Let's not play those games...

Some dimmable kitchen LED fixtures started flickering one day, and after doing some basic troubleshooting I realized there was likely some connection/wiring issue and I needed an electrician. I called several, Thomas was the first and the last. He was available, reputable, and upon arriving it was clear he knew what he was doing. He worked quickly and resolved the issue. He even had time to add some surge protection to my main panel, which puts my mind even more at ease. Will absolutely call him again for any electrical needs!!

This guy is Good. Got me on schedule same day, Fair price and quick. Swapped out two outlets in about an hour. Probably woulda taken less time but we were talking too much, that was my fault...lol..I'll use him again though. .

They installed a ceiling fan in our living room and it looks great!! Super responsive and reasonably priced. He even switched the blades around for us which was appreciated. We will definitely be hiring them again for our electrical needs, you probably should too!!

I had some electrical work that needed to be done on my home I just moved into. I messaged a few electricians and Mr. Russel responded quickly with a very fair quote. The service was great and he even helped me remove some outside cables that wasn't part of the initial request.

It is rare to find someone who will actually explain what they are doing and what most likely is causing your problem.  I was very impressed with Thomas and his level of expertise!   He was able to swap out a bad circuit at a very reasonable price.  We've had a difficult time finding good service here in Lago Vista or finding anyone who will come out this way, but I was extremely impressed and will use Thomas again for any electrical issues I have. Extremely knowledgeable, professional and personable.

I called Thomas from Russell Electric and he told me he would be here in 30 minutes. He was here in 20 mins. He had a warm demeanor, professional, very knowledgeable and a fantastic personality. He hot right on the job as I had a ceiling fan that refused to work and he checked out the problem and analyzed it and recommended that the switch had to be replaced and that the workmanship of the electrician who put in this plug, did a substandard job and I definitely agreed with him because I had put in ceiling fans before and never had an issue until I went to out this one in. I was stumped and I called Russell Electric and Thomas was a definite breath of fresh air. He is old school, very respectful and I was honored to have him in my new house.
If you need great professional service with the qualifications of a Master Electrician, call Russell Electric because his prices are second to none and I would highly recommend him to come to my house again. I needed an attic outlet for some future work I'm doing and Thomas delivered.  He was straight forward that he doesn't typically do attic work, but obliged this time.  He offered some advice on how I could address some problem outlets in other areas of house.  Should I fail at that those, he let me know what he charges to troubleshoot.

I'm sure I'll be calling Thomas again.

Showed up on time. Took time to explain in detail what the problem was. Diagnosed and fixed the problem quickly. I definitely will call him again if I have any issues. Also, I thought he was a nice guy and we had a good chat.

I called Russell electric few days ago. I told him that i need a quick appointment and he not only gave me an earliest appointment but also gave me good tips for checking the problem myself until then.
And when he came to my house he found the problem in 5 minutes and then he charged me much lesser then what we have discussed before because problem was not exactly what we were thinking.
Overall i am very happy with his professionalism, honesty and quick response.

After seeing his yelp reviews, I had my husband call Russell Electric to set up an appointment and have them come take a look at our electrical issue. Our bathroom GFI has tripped almost daily for a good year now. It's incredibly annoying,  as our downstairs bathroom and both upstairs bathrooms are on the same GFI. If we were upstairs when it tripped, we had to go downstairs to reset it. He advised my husband to simply go to home depot and buy a $16 GFI and replace it. He said in all likelihood, this would resolve our issue, as once GFIs trip a few times, they tend to stop working correctly and continually trip. I only wish we had called sooner. Our issue is fixed. Thomas was truly a wonderful electrician. He came same day and within an hour of me calling. He was here for less than an hour and worked diligently to fix my issue. I can't say enough about Thomas. If you want a prompt, professional, licensed, and insured electrician, call Russell Electric.

Perfect!! He fixed the electric on our dishwasher very quickly, and he and my husband chatted for a while. Really nice guy. Highly recommended.

UPDATE: We needed a new water heater, and Home Depot quoted us an insane amount because they said we also needed some electrical work done. We contacted Thomas, not expecting to hear back until the next business day. He texted us *on his day off* and after looking at some pictures, told us we didn't need it. Saved us a bunch. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I called Thomas early Monday morning, and he managed to find time to come out before his next appointment. He arrived, fixed my light/fan switch problem, and reinstalled the fan with no fuss and no issues. He has a 1-hour minimum charge, so after his ~35 minutes spent on the initial problem, he made sure to fill the rest of the hour checking on other issues I'd been having, answering questions, and giving advice. He seemed very concerned that I'd get my money's worth for the hour, and I appreciate that very much.

I tried to get him to fix an antique fixture. He identified the problem immediately, and said he could get the light to come on again, but that it would be better to replace the fixture or have it repaired. He even gave me a referral for restoring the fixture. He likely could have charged another hour of labor for this, but opted for the right thing instead. It's hard to find a responsive electrician these days, especially one that doesn't make you feel like you're being squeezed.

Now I need to find the Thomas for plumbing, HVAC repair, and my car!

Called to get a rough quote on installing new 220v outlet in my garage and he was able to give me a fairly accurate quote after just telling him about what I needed. I'm sure if it was a bigger job it might have been unreasonable to get quote over the phone but for such a small job it was nice that he didn't have to come out (and charge a fee) to get an idea of what I was looking at paying.  I called ABC Electric first for the same thing and they insisted on coming out to assess the job and give a quote. They charged $79 for that. Not only did Thomas give me the estimate over the phone, it ended up being less than 1/2 of what the other guys wanted.

Regarding the actual work, he was on time and got right to work. I would definitely hire him again for any of my electrical needs.

Pros:  Came out within 30 mins of me calling them. The hour rate quoted on the phone was $100 plus repairs. That was $50 less than everyone else I called and none of them could make it out that day.

Cons: don't expect any kind of wiggle room on the price if it turns out that you are an idiot and never needed to call an electrician in the first place.

Let me explain. The can lights in our kitchen, recently remodeled, stopped working. For 6 months my wife and I have exclusively used one switch on the countertop to control these lights. A week ago they cut out. We had completely forgotten about the other 3-way switch in the hallway because it had been blocked by boxes and other things from the move. The switch didn't even exist in our minds. 2 seconds into the electrician coming into the house he flips the switch and I have a good laugh. Problem solved in my mind. Since he's made the trip out I ask him to take a look at some other things. My thinking being.  Ok, I'm out $100 minimum for a silly mistake, let's try to knock out some other simple things. I had a ceiling fixture that needed a shallow breaker box. I hadn't been able to find one at a big box store. I asked him to quote me on that. We had some confusion at the beginning that I will give him the benefit of the doubt on. Originally i was thinking he wanted to charge me an extra $100 diagnostic fee. Plus a charge for a repair. It wasn't until I complained and we went back and forth a little that he came off the extra $100! Or I could of been reading the situation wrong and it was a misunderstanding. I specifically remember him saying it was $100 minimum per issue though. So we move on. He tells me it's $75 for the shallow breaker box. I ask him if since the other one was such a silly mistake if he could do $150. Still in my mind that's damn near highway robbery but I thought that would be doable and a nice gesture on their part since it was laughable how stupid I'd been to call them. He stays firm on the $75. I don't push the issue anymore. I let him spend 5-10 mins putting 2 screws in and run my card for $175.

Long story short. I'm an idiot. Monday's suck. I should of been an electrician. And don't expect any kind of good faith gesture in silly scenarios like this. A price is a price is a price.

My review was pretty clear and 100% honest and accurate.
*You came in.
*Turned on a light switch (to fix a silly mistake that my wife and I missed).
*Used two screws to install a shallow breaker box that I couldn't find at Home Depot. You charged me $175.
* In my house total for probably 8 mins.

People can decide for themselves if they think that is a fair and going rate. I'm glad you have thousands of happy customers. Sorry that one of them gets a little annoyed when they feel like they just got hosed.

Thomas answered on Saturday morning, was at my house within the hour and had my issue resolved in half an hour. Very helpful and honest. He could have told me I needed to replace the breakers in my box, but he didn't. He identified one that had a loose connection, tightened everything up, charged me the standard service fee, and was on his way.

I needed an outlet installed under my sink quickly. Recently my garbage disposal died and I had to replace it. I found out my garbage disposal had a direct wiring. Russell responded quickly and was very friendly and professional. He completed the job in less then an hour. Highly recommend his service!

It was very easy to make an appointment with him. He came out to replace a fan and did a great a job! Will be hiring him again when we need to replace our chandelier.

We were having dinner one night and suddenly all our lights turned off.  My husband went and tried to reset the main break in the garage.  Only a few lights came back on, but it was pretty obvious that only the kitchen and the family room did not have electricity.  We called around and left messages hoping someone would come after 7:30pm.  I found Thomas and called him by 7:45pm.  He still came out even though he was an hr away and business hrs posted on yelp says closing in 40mins. Thomas came through and fixed the problem in the main breaker outside our home.  He is awesome! And I was surprised it didn't cost us an arm and a leg for an electrician to come out after business hrs.  He is professional and knowledgeable.

Thomas has been out to my home twice. He's incredible at trouble shooting and fixing difficult electrical troubles fairly quickly. My daughters room went completely dark and he was able to locate the source of the issue in the electrical outlet and replaced it. The second time he came out I had an issue with my chandelier lights in the front entry way. He quickly diagnosed the problem and replaced the switch. Super friendly, super quick to respond, very affordable and extremely knowledgeable.

Excellent service!  Had problem with multiple outlets going out in my home.  Called Thomas around 6:45pm on a Tuesday and asked if he could come out the next day.  He quoted me his price and then said if we needed he could come out that night.  No extra charge for coming after hours.  He fixed the problem and even stayed for another 20 mins explaining what happened and how to avoid future problems (bc my wife couldn't resist asking a million questions).  Personable, nice, honest (reasonably priced) electrician that I now have in my phone.  Would recommend to anyone I know!

Thomas Russell has proven to be a very honest and trustworthy man.  I contacted Thomas for two different repair estimates this year and he responded to both requests within an hour.  He reviewed the issues with me over the phone and via e-mail:

In May 2016, I had a light that flickered intermittently twice and it only seemed to do this after heavy rain.  I called Thomas after the rain subsided but the flickering already stopped.  Thomas suggested deferring any repairs until the light was actually flickering...otherwise he may not be able to identify or fix the issue.  Thomas also said he'd hate to charge me for a service call and not be able to fix the issue.  It was very considerate of him to avoid charging me for any work he could not complete.

I contacted Thomas again in September 2016...my house is on the market and the inspection report listed several minor electrical repairs.  Thomas reviewed the report, identified which repairs were critical, optional and insignificant.  Thomas referred me to another electrician for the critical repairs because the work may require a permit.  Again, it was very considerate and honest of Thomas to refer me to another electrician.

Thomas arrived at my home less than 45 minutes after I emailed him for a quote--and this was after 7PM! He was courteous, professional, and very knowledgeable. I'd highly recommend this company!

So great -- we had a mystifying lamp situation that was well beyond my not extremely handy man abilities. We called, Russell Electric they stopped by the same evening, and within and hour, all was right as rain. Super efficient, competent and professional.

Thomas is the real deal unlike The first company I called that never called back to schedule me even after I called and emailed them again and again. So I found Thomas with his great reviews on Yelp. I took a chance and emailed him while in a meeting. He answered shortly and booked me all via email which was appreciated with my crazy schedule. I needed a outlet put in for my tankless water heater and outlet serviced on the back porch. He arrived and talked me through what was needed and kept my best interests at heart by making some recommendations that saved me money. Thomas was awesome! All of the lights in my kitchen and living room just stopped working. All of the other powered items were fine, just the lights. I had ONE lamp that worked in my living room but was otherwise SOL. As lovely as forced mood lighting might sound, it's hard to cook dinner by microwave light. I reached out to seven companies via yelp and no one could get to my house until at a minimum Monday or Tuesday. Thomas emailed me and said he could do 10 AM this morning (on a Saturday). Not only did he come on a Saturday but he was $50/hour LESS than the next lowest bid I received. I completely by accident discovered the issue was a plug about an hour before he came so he was in and out in no time, confirming it was in fact the plug and replacing it. He also took a look at two ceiling fans that the lights stopped working in and gave me an honest answer about what was wrong. I would most definitely use him again and highly recommend him.

I own a rental single family home in Leander where tenants reported issues with the electrical outlets associated with two appliances. I contacted Thomas Russell after reading his many positive reviews in Yelp. Thomas returned my call within 30 minutes and I asked when he might be available to inspect and diagnose the electrical issues? Thomas gave me two options: now or tomorrow morning. He was on site within the hour and called me with his diagnosis. One outlet only needed to be taped up and secured to prevent any future issues and the other was operating fine. While there, he checked and repaired outlets, and replaced GFIs. As an example of his dedication to overall safety, he observed my tenants operating a portable plug in heater in the garage. Thomas took the time to advise my tenants that portable heaters are the cause of many house fires and that it was not advisable to continue operating the heater unless it was on its own dedicated circuit. He throughly updated me on all his repairs and observations while on site and again when I paid him for the job. Given his immediate same day availability after 6 pm, and all the work he performed, his pricing was more than fair! I highly recommend Russell Electric to anyone!

He was able to give me a better price for the work I needed done and he was able to get everything done, even the few things I asked after he got there! I would definitely choose him over anyone! We booked an appointment with Thomas on Saturday, but found out that we had to cancel to attend a funeral that day.  We needed the repair done ASAP, because we felt it was a matter of safety.  (Our old breaker boxes were causing our A/C, micro wave and oven to lose power.)  Because of our situation, Thomas agreed to come on Sunday instead, and he spent a good part of the day doing the repair.  He did a really thorough job and got us up and running again at a very reasonable price.  (The cost was less than what he originally quoted.)  He made sure our breaker box was properly grounded and protected from power surges, and even took time to explain how to avoid future electrical issues.

I called Russell Electric after hours for any other electrical company and left a message expecting a call back the next day (or never).  Instead, I received a prompt call back, a good discussion on what was needed, and a Saturday appointment.  Thomas arrived on time, assessed the situation, went to work, and completed the job in much less time than I had expected.  Prices were reasonable and the resulting work (four new exterior light fixtures) looks great, with none of the holes/patches/etc. that I've been left with before.  I'd definitely use this company again.

I called Thomas about an electrical issue I had and he was very up front with me that it was a job that he did not do. I really appreciated his honesty. He told me a ballpark price of what to expect from other electricians.

I had to wait at least 6 weeks before making this review to make sure this guy's work is solid. He's charging by the hour and it's well worth it. He worked so hard and fast, fixed 3 broken lighting fixtures in house and in the process cleaned 9 sets of outlets due to poor quality installation made by original builder's electrician. Even after I paid him, he went back and check the main switched outside and sealed the holes. I truly appreciate people who exhibit integrity in their work, ensuring quality while at the same time charge reasonably. Russell is such a guy and I totally commend the work he had done in our house last month here in Round Rock.

At 11:15am, I called Russell Electric based on the Yelp reviews. He was at our home by 12:00 and had everything finished and our breaker working by 12:30. I couldn't be more pleased. He was super knowledgeable, very friendly, and was honest! I picked his brain a little while he was here and he was happy to answer any and all questions. He is now in my phone permanently and we will not hesitate to call him again should it be needed. I absolutely recommend Russell Electric without hesitation.

Thomas was prompt, professional and honest. I needed electrical work done within two days and no other electrical companies I called would be able to get to me in my time frame. Thomas came out the very next day and quickly trouble shooted my issue. He bills hourly and did not try to milk the clock. He worked quickly and even hustled from room to room. Hey y'all! I called Thomas about a quick disconnect box for my water heater. I needed an electrician to help me with a DIY switch/outlet replacement project gone awry and I found Thomas via Yelp.  He was prompt with his response, he managed my expectations with respect to how long the project could take and his rates. He arrived on time, fixed the issue I created, and completed the remainder of the project. He patiently answered all of my questions and went out of his way to offer suggestions with respect to our lighting. Honest, professional. knowledgable, skilled, dependable, cost effective.

I called to make an appointment for him to come by my house and he returned my call very quickly.  I had some outlets that were not working.  He told me he check one button to see if it fixes the problem, and if not to call him back.  Well, it look me 2 seconds to fix it!  I appreciated him having me check instead of paying him to come out to do the same thing.  I will be keeping him in mind for the future if something comes up.  He has great prices as well!

We did a lot of research to find someone to hang our new ceiling fans. Thomas returned our phone call immediately, gave a competitive quote and was eager to do the work. Russel showed up on time. Came in and figured out what I was looking for and got to work right away. He was fast and clean. Did the work for a great price. If I need any further electric work done, he will be the first company I call.

Excellent service.  Had burning smell coming from the dryer plug/outlet.  Called Thomas late on a Friday - he picked up the phone, he was upfront on his pricing and was over at the house (Steiner Ranch) in 30 minutes.  Did a great job and knew exactly how to fix.  I definitely recommend.

Read the Yelp reviews and emailed for a quote to replace a breaker in our main panel box. Thomas called within 30 minutes and scheduled time the next day to fix our problem. Pricing was fair and service outstanding. Will use Russell Electric for future electrical needs.

I hired Thomas for the second time few weeks ago, and again he did a fantastic job.  I had quite a list of repairs/installations including 2 ceiling fans, 2 light fixtures, some old wall switches to the fans that needed to be changed out, a GCFI, and a cable outlet needing repair.  Thomas took care of all of it, making my home functional again.   As I mentioned in a previous review, I had called on other electricians who did not even return my calls or show up for the job at all, but Thomas always responds to messages within a few hours and shows up on time for appointments.  He is friendly and honest and I will continue make him my go-to guy when electrical needs arise.  I will also recommend him to anyone who needs work done.
