For more than 50 years and three generations, Public Service Plumbers has set a standard of excellence in reliability and customer service throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area. HISTORY

Established in 1959.
Founders, John B. DiFrancesco and wife Wadie C. DiFrancesco came to Dallas after World War II, in 1950. John learned the plumbing trade and business from his father, the late Joseph M. DiFrancesco, Sr. who was an architect, licensed master plumber and licensed master electrician in the state of New York. The doors to Public Service Plumbers, Inc. were opened in 1959 after John B. DiFrancesco, a master plumber in Texas since 1950, spent nine years perfecting his craft in the Park Cities / Preston Hollow areas. Following in the family tradition Joseph M. DiFrancesco, III (a graduate of University of Texas at Dallas and a licensed master plumber since 1981) joined the firm in 1983. We are now a third generation plumbing family and have been serving the Dallas area with exceptional customer service for over 50 years.

Called to fix a clogged tub drain. I was told I need to replace parts and they would need to cut through the outside wall. Called a different plumber for a second opinion. He was there 10 minutes and fixed the clog. No extra parts or extra work, simply cleared the drain.

I needed a plumber for a small fix and this was the only company I called that would tell me what the rates were on the phone.  The others all said, It depends on the job.  I didn't want an estimate, I wanted a fix.  They were able to send someone out that day who arrived on time and completed the job promptly.   I did need an estimate for another issue and the service department head came out the next morning exactly as scheduled.  I definitely highly recommend this company.

Overpriced. This plumber spent a little over 45 mins and charged me 150.00 for labor. Parts were 44.00. A minor leak; minor effort; too much money.

I have had trouble for two appointments in a row of getting the servicemen  to arrive within the set time frame or call if they are running late. Result has been no shows, much excuse making and having to reset the appointments. When the company personnel did appear he was completely uninformed about the original job request, which required two men and only performed a minimal cleaning and temporary repair.

I recently hired Public Service Plumbers, and I must say, they exceeded my expectations in every way. Jacob Armstrong was not only respectful but also incredibly diligent and hardworking. He arrived on time, assessed the issue, and got to work promptly.

Throughout the entire process, Jacob maintained a high level of professionalism and courtesy. He took the time to explain the problem and the steps they were taking to fix it, ensuring that I was well-informed throughout the service.

Jacob's dedication to the job was evident in his meticulous work. He left no stone unturned, ensuring that the plumbing issue was completely resolved. It's rare to find a service that goes above and beyond like this.

Overall, I couldn't be more satisfied with the service I received. Jacob's respectfulness, diligence, and hard work are qualities that set him apart. I highly recommend Public Service Plumbers to anyone in need of plumbing assistance; they are a truly exceptional team.

I recommend finding a different plumber. I called Public Service Plumbers to come light a pilot light. I had to schedule them at the same time as the gas company and the gas company was about 15 minutes behind, so the plumber left. That's somewhat understandable, still aggravating. What has me upset is that they charged me $89 for the service fee, which I paid, then came back and knocked on my door saying the payment didn't go through. The plumber was wrong and I paid twice. $180 for nothing, and the company is giving me the run around and are acting like they won't reimburse me. 1/10 business, save the headache and use somebody else.

Update 4/16 received a call from the office manager. Receptionist was new and training will be addressed. Manager told same thing a second plumber did, that draining and flushing the heater that old (10 years) may actually cause more problems and may worth the cost involved. Plumber will be coached. Manager credit us the cost of the visit. Thank you Aline.

They lost a customer today. Called to have a plumber come out because the water heater was making clunking/knocking sounds. Based on what i read on websites the heater needed to be flushed and drained. Told the receptionist who set up the appointment that it probably needed to be flushed. (heater still heated the water well, able to long hot showers etc... just made knocking noises). When the plumber got here, he said that heaters don't need to be flushed drained anymore, he checked to make sure water heater still worked (i already knew it did) and looked at one other issue we had and charged us $98 for the 30 min visit. If i had been told up front that they don't drain/flush water heaters anymore, i would not have had them come out (by the way, the manual for my Whirlpool water heater says it IS supposed to be drained/flushed every 6 months). I don't appreciate being lied to and i don't appreciate having to spend the time and money to hire someone else to do what this guy should have done.

Terrible customer service experience. I had a backup happening in the master bathroom so I called Public Service Plumbers. The guy comes out and tries to snake the drain...nothing. Then he gets under the house and says he thinks the problem is with a certain fitting that was used on the pipes. Fair enough, I thought. At least we found the problem. As the tech is about to leave he tells me my bill is almost $400. Realizing I got charged for his apprentice to be there was the first frustration. That kid could have stayed in the car and no one would have noticed. THEN comes the second frustration. Immediately after he leaves my second bathroom starts to clog/backup (it had been working fine for the previous two weeks while the master was out of order). So at this point I paid almost $400 to basically lose my only working bathroom. When I called back and told them it was emergent, I was advised the earliest they could come out was in three days. I was told that I would have an estimate for the repair shortly. When the estimate came it sounded like they were throwing out numbers arbitrarily. I couldn't even get a hold of a supervisor to help me understand the fee structure. After getting passed to several dispatchers who didn't know their ass from a hot rock, the best anyone could tell me was anywhere from $1 - $1,400....to change a PVC fitting... after that I called another company that came out same day and fixed the problem for significantly cheaper. Don't even bother calling these guys. Good customer service is all but dead here.

Do not use. Some of the worst customer service I have experienced. Multiple missed appointments, issues with work, disrespect on the phone...the list goes on. There are plenty other respectable and capable plumbers in Dallas.

I needed to get a new dishwasher installed in an older house and there were multiple issues.  Troy and Roman came out and worked their way through step by step.  They were so patient and helpful and Troy was determined to make sure that everything was installed properly and fit together well.   He moved the original shut off valve which was under the old dishwasher and closed up a hole in the floor.   There was was an old cast iron pipe protruding from the wall which didn't allow the dishwasher to be set all the way into the space.  But everything is done, the dishwasher fits beautifully and I'm very happy with their hard work and commitment to doing the job right.  I definitely recommend them.

So glad I found this company on Yelp! The men that came to the house were great! Very nice, professional,  answered all of my questions, and best of all- fixed the problem!!! After taking off work for the afternoon to meet a different plumbing company, I was told they did not have the ability to fix our clogged kitchen sink. I would need to find a company that was able to climb on the roof and enter the pipes through the vent because the clog was too deep in the pipe for ground maintenance.

I called around and the earliest any company could send someone out would be tomorrow afternoon. I understand that isn't very long, but not ideal since I already took vacation time for one plumber and we are running out of frozen dinners (no kitchen sink equals no ability to wash dishes)! I called Public Service Plumbers around 1:00 pm and they were here by 3:00 pm. The woman I spoke with when I called fit me in same day and was incredibly kind on the phone! All around it was a great experience and I would recommend them!

Public Service Plumbers has done very good work for me but I won't use them again. Yesterday they came to do a job they did before, augering out the kitchen sink cleanout. When they arrived they quoted me a price almost THREE TIMES what had been 2-1/2 years ago. They sorrowfully explained that they've merged with another company, resulting in a change in pricing structure. Sounds like BS to me.

I've used Public Service Plumbers several times over the years.  They've done excellent work.  They are very expensive (expect to pay almost double), but there are so many shady contractors out there that I've learned to pay more for good ones.

Pros:  Good work, they always solve the problem, can get them out on short notice, after hours service

Cons:  Expensive, they've showed up late on more than occasion, some plumbers were nice - others were a little rude, they insist on having a plumber and a helper on every job, so you're paying for 2 people

Overall I would not hesitate to use them again.

Had a wonderful experience, again, with Troy Curtis.  He has years of experience and knowledge, as do all the plumbers I've had out from Public S. I've used them for over a decade.  We usually have Mark C.come out to our home ( is excellent,  too) but he was booked.
Appreciate them very much!

They did not show up to the appointment, instead they called to find out the model of my water pump so that they can order a new one. They didn't even diagnose it to see if it needed to replaced. I called 2 more times asking about the new water pump and they couldn't give me an answer. Haven't heard back from them. I called Benjamin Franklin Plumbing and they spent 1 hour and adjusted the pump and it works great now. Not a reliable company

We had a leak from a pipe under our pier and beam house. We learned about it because our water bill went up $30 in one month and after calling the water dept. to check they said there was a leak of a gallon every 8 minutes on our property. We could hear water flowing only after we opened up the crawl space and stuck our head down into the space. We called several companies on a Friday that were recommended but Public Service Plumbers agreed to send someone out that day and early enough so they would have time to fix any problem before the end of the day. Took about 2 1/2 hours for 2 guys for $500. Josh was the plumber and both men were polite, clean, took pictures of the problem, and guaranteed their work.

REVISED: after posting this, the company called me and apologized and took corrective actions. I consider that great service that is more consistent with what I've experienced with Public Service Plumbers!

I have used this company before and saw a leaky toilet so wanted to try them again. While they are prompt to answer the phone, I just spoke to a condescending and unhappy sounding woman who answered the phone. It's a shame when that is the face of a good company-just prepare yourself for her attitude if you call.

We actually just finished with the plumbers and they did a fantastic job.  They worked so hard and you could really tell the difference in the professionalism and the integrity of the workers and this company.  We could not be more thrilled with the work that they did, the knowledge they shared, and the compassion they showed us.  We are so relieved to be done with that problem and for them to have fixed it properly and right!

i called Public Service Plumbers for an emergency hot water heater replacement.   They were able to get someone out right away, assess the situation, stop the leaking and had a new system installed by that evening.  the guys they sent over were very nice.  my wife was comfortable being home alone with them.  they cleaned up their mess when they left.  It is nice to know there is someone to call when i am out of town and need some plumbing repairs done!  i called 2 other companies after the the job was done to check the price.  they were right in line with one and cheaper than the other.   i looked up the hot water tank they installed and it is a very high quality unit.

Showed up and informed us of changing of pricing structure. 2.5 hours for 1300.00.  Will not use them again.  Over 500.00 an hour for a toilet replacement (which I supplied the toilet) and a tub drain repair.

The plumber that came out was courteous and did clean up, but I had a big problem with their pricing structure that wasn't fully revealed until after the work was done.  It turns out they have a materials charge for several things that aren't really materials but rather the use of equipment, such as a basic augur ($15 materials fee), etc. They also charged $10 for him using gloves and a rag to wipe up. I called to talk to them about it and said it's the first time a plumber has charged me an additional fee (on top of the 146/hr fee) for the use of their tools, plus I had mentioned before I had the same augur in my garage to the guy when he first showed up. To me this is the equivalent of a mechanic charging me extra to use a wrench, caliper or any other basic tool needed to do the job above and beyond the service fee.  The office told me that's what they have to do and have done for 50 years, end of story.  Oh well, the search continues for a go-to plumber I can fully trust.

Showed up next day, exactly when the person who called me indicated he would. Fixed both minor repairs in very little time and charged me half of what was quoted by another company (a company that was also 2 hours late to their appt with me). Great job!

I'm very happy with their service and the folks at this company. When we needed help pronto at the house, they made it all better and they made sure it was done right. I feel confident they did an excellent job.The office staff is understanding, helpful and they call back when they say they will (how refreshing). Prices are as usual,  the going rate no more no less.

Warning! Customer service is extremely poor. I encountered a rude, aggressive,  and unprofessional office employee after a 'no show-no call.' Public Service Plumbers canceled my appointment due to the Feb. storm in 2021. I understood and had no problem with that wise decision. The next week, no one called to reschedule the canceled appointment. So, I called to schedule a new appointment. On the day of the appointment, 'no show- no call.' This ghost appointment wasted an entire afternoon of my time. This company does not value customers. Wrong attitude and significantly below proper business practices.

They came out to install a drain for my bathroom sink. It took 45 minutes and cost me $185 ($45 in parts). What I didn't like is how they nickle and dime their customers.
$2.00 for putty, $3.00 for a washer, and $3.50 for a towel. Are you serious you charged for a towel to clean up after your mess???

Very satisfied.  They came out immediately, we're thorough and solved my hot water issue quickly.  It requires a replacement, but they were able to do a patch to buy me a few days so I could price check.  Called three other companies and their price was the best.  Great price and service.  100% satisfied.

I had a nightmare of an experience with another company.  Public Service Plumbers came and cleaned up the mess.  They did a great job.  I was super impressed with Public Service Plumber's attention to detail.  For example, when remounting the toilet they installed toilet shims, sawed the shims to size, and then secured the shims with clear caulking.  They did a huge job on my home and I fully intend on using this company moving forwards.

Initial scheduling was easy and they may have done a good job. But I wouldn't know as they did not show at the scheduled appointment window time of 3-hrs (duration seems appropriate). Called to confirm after the first hour in and all seemed well. Called again 10 minutes before the close of the 3-hr window (since I did not hear back) and was only then told that their tech was running late. I had already factored in about an hour of work (simple faucet replacement) even if he did arrive at the last minute but I wasn't going to stay around all day for this. They offered to reschedule but the sheer lack of communication/updates from them and simple respect for the customer's time was enough for me to take my business elsewhere.

The worst. Lied about pricing, lied about time on the job. (I have a doorman who logs time in and out). Brought no parts when I explained in detail each issue! 170.00 an hour to get them. They will never work in my properties again.

Also indicated they will issue refund based in overcharges. They have not.

The team came out for an emergency repair on a complicated lift station connected to our commercial grease trap. Troy could not have been more helpful and clear with what went wrong, how it could be fixed, and a good plan going forward. We have had many companies service this part of our grease trap in the past. None were as efficient, effective, and clear as Public Service Plumbers.
