Update to my previous review.

After my initial difficulty in connecting with Duhon was sorted out, we set a firm date to get things done. Their crew of three showed up at 9:00 AM and were through with everything before noon. I have lights at my side door for the first time in ten years, I have a place to plug in the electric mower and power tools that's outside the house, and my bathroom has an electric outlet for the first time in its life. The crew cleaned up after themselves well, so I didn't have to spend an hour sweeping and vacuuming debris. The final invoice hasn't arrived yet, but the prices given in the estimate were fair enough.

I'm still holding back a star because of the initial communications thing, but I'm well pleased in the end and I'd use Duhon again.

I'm really perplexed why they show 4.5 stars. They are unresponsive. I spoke to someone briefly and they asked me to text them my information and they'd get back to me with a time for an estimate. That's not happened. A simple reply. I would use someone to do work who is reliable.

After reading the reviews further, it looks like being unresponsive is a common trend with this company. Also William seems to have a lot of excuses in his replies. Be sure to read beyond all the 5 star ratings.

This may possibly be the best dealing I've ever had with a tradesman!

I needed an electrician to do a minor job on a house that is for sale and about to close and I needed it done fairly quickly. I regular electrician was too busy. Due to all of the good reviews on yelp I requested a quote, explaining exactly what I needed done.

William got back to me within an hour, I believe, with a quote and let me know when he could do it. The price was very fair and he came out the very next day! He gave me a 45 minute notice of his arrival, like he said he would, and he arrived on time.

William was very responsive, prompt, competent and quick and best of all his prices were not outrageous.

I will definitely use William again for any electrical needs that I may have as well as recommend him to my family and friends. He truly earned my business.

William came by today to install several lights to highlight some paintings in our home and refit some old can lights in the kitchen. He brought his crew, Ben and Raoul to assist in this project. They did the job efficiently and with great fan fare. The banter was hilarious as was the fact that Raoul didn't like anchovies on pizza. Ben, who I think is 9yrs old, was a budding apprentice and was polite when he addressed me. After everything was installed, the lights didn't work. I blame this on Raoul who blamed it on Ben, who intern held William accountable, but after awhile, we realized it was actually my fault for wanting new lights in the kitchen in the first place. This is how the day progressed, it was fun and the job was completed on time and in the manner I wished it to be.

With that in mind I would say todays experience was excellent, marvelous, magnificent, superb, fine, wonderful, superlative, exceptional, first-class, first-rate; informal, great, terrific, tremendous, super, amazing, fantastic, sensational, fabulous, ace, neat, killer, crack, A1, awesome, bang-up, skookum, out of this world; smashing, brilliant, remarkable, extraordinary, exceptional, striking, eye-catching, arresting, impressive, distinctive, unforgettable, memorable, special, momentous, significant, notable, noteworthy and generally William is an all around good guy.

Poor communication and follow up.
I had to chase them for a quote and follow up again and again. Perhaps business is so good that service doesn't matter. Big thumbs down!!!
If you have a small project, find someone who cares. They want to present themselves as the local Austin guy- sorry that isn't this company. Move on

Local Austin electricians with the experience and expertise that I was looking for. They installed 5 exterior lights (on brick) and moved some outlets for us. They are friendly and knowledgeable and do excellent work. They had to run some wires through the garage and they made it look neat and clean. They do what they promise. Highly recommended!

I'm not sure what happened since my first review, but my opinion of this business has totally changed. It seems like they have too much business and not enough staff to handle the workload.

The owner, Mr. Duhon, personally came out to give me an estimate. He didn't write anything down so I wondered how he was going to remember everything in order to give me an accurate estimate of the work to be done. I was expecting to receive the estimate either that night or the next day. A few days went by and then a week and still nothing. I sent him a message asking for the estimate since I had already contacted another electrician for an estimate as well. Mr. Duhon advised me that he would have the estimate for me by the next day. Well, that was about two weeks ago and I never received it. What a waste of my time. Needless to say, I went with Max Electric for my several thousand dollars' worth of electrical work.

We've used Duhon a few times and they've been great to work with every time. We had can lights installed in our living room, and we changed a bunch of ceiling lights around between rooms.

These guys were responsive, on time, super savvy, and they raised a lot of good points I hadn't considered. They did great work both times.

When I had a question about the kind of lights they installed for us because a friend wanted to put some in, they promptly emailed me back to answer my question, even though it wouldn't result in a paying job. I really appreciated that, too.

I made a phone call around 9 pm and electrician was nice enough to help me over the phone. GFCI was lit on outlet and it reset the two outlets in the house.

My experience with Duhon Electiric was totally positive. I was able to get in touch with them immediately and see them on the scheduled day. Had a very minor request to get some ethernet drops to a few rooms. The quote received was very reasonable and when they arrived for the installation the drop was done in an hour. Great work and good people. Will recommend to everyone I know in the future.

Called Duhon Electric because of an issue with an outlet on the exterior of my house. They stopped by and fixed the problem in 5 minutes. Turns out it was an issue with a GFI switch under our carport. I would have never figured that out haha. Damian was super cool, didn't even charge me for the visit. I was blown away. Will definitely use them for more extensive electrical work in the future.

Me: Hello? Duhon Electric? I need help with a few outdoor circuits. You see there is this really large crow I need to grill for supper...

Mr. Duhon came out today after lunch to repair three outdoor circuits that had failed. Prior to his service call, we worked through e-mail to identify the likely cause of the problem and come up with a parts list.

He called an hour in advance of his arrival and arrived precisely when he said he would. Since I did the shopping, we first reviewed the parts to ensure I had everything he would need. Then he got right to work. Along the way he told me what caused the problem, what he was doing to prevent a recurrence, and what maintenance and repairs would likely be needed in the future.

In under an hour, he finished refurbishing and testing the four circuits and installing new code compliant covers. He then fastidiously cleaned up all of the boxes, bits, and pieces from the surgical field--my yard. Other than for the new look of the installation, you'd never know he'd been there.

It's a done deal. Duhon is now my new go to for electrical services in Austin. Thanks to Elite Yelpers Jill S. and Kat F. for their reviews that led to this positive conclusion. And special thanks to Mr. Duhon for making time for me in the midst of his very busy schedule this holiday season.

So I'm giving 5 stars to a company who actually didn't do any work on my house. Why? Because I can replace outlets myself. But, when the breaker is off, but my pen-style volt meter is telling me there is still electricity flowing, I get a bit concerned.

I called Duhon to ask if it is something I was concerned about. The person who answered let me explain my situation, diagnosed the problem, DIDN'T TRY TO SELL ME ANYTHING, and was very courteous towards someone who was basically asking for free advice.

Based on this alone, I would recommend these folks. Combined with their other reviews, I think it's a no-brainer.

Long story as to why, but we needed an electrical upgrade to get our AC replaced. William coordinated well with AC installer. All work done well, on time and at a good price. Fixed a broken light while here and wouldn't let me pay for it.

I can't say enough good things about my experience with Duhon electric. We needed to add recessed lighting throughout our bottom floor of our two story house. The price they quoted was fair and the work was exceptional. With little to no space to work in the ceiling they were able to add our recessed lighting quickly and it looks amazing. William and his crew were incredibly knowledgeable and efficient but most importantly honest. We knew exactly what we were getting and he made sure every step of the way. He explained why he was doing things and always gave us options and if we asked his opinion he would give it. Strongly recommend these guys.

Duhon Electric are my go-to guys for electrical work. The original project was re-wiring during a remodel. They have always been very competitive on price, on time, and have done great work. Over the past several years, we've also had them do some exterior work installing fans and replacing a breaker panel. These guys are top notch. I've recommended them to several friends and feel really good about it. I really like that I can contact them and get a quote quickly, know the quote will reasonable, and know they'll do the work professionally and on time/cost.

The light in our guest bathroom mysteriously went out a few days ago, and after some unsuccessful tinkering on my own with the light switch circuitry, I turned to trusty ol' Yelp. Duhon seemed to be a no-brainer, and I gave them a call. I got William on the phone, and he explained how to check if it was just a broken light switch. I tried it, it worked, and now I can just go up the road to Lowe's and buy a new switch. Even better, now I know who to call when I run into bigger electrical problems. Thanks so much William!

UPDATE (10/16/15): I had further issues with an outlet in the same bathroom that I thought might be related to the light switch I changed out. I contacted William and again he very patiently gave me advice on what the issue might be (and got it right of course... he knows his stuff). I can't say enough good things about this guy!

I had phoned Duhon electric to get a quote on some work I needed to get done. Their reviews were really good so I felt confident that they would be great. I left a message and they got back to me much later. That's Ok. We emailed and set up an appt. for an estimate. Well, they never showed up. They didn't call or email me to tell me they weren't coming. They obviously are unreliable. Even if they did call me or email me now after reading this review, I would NEVER use them. BEWARE!!!

I am a big fan of supporting small businesses where I live. I find that not only are the folks more grateful for the business but they tend to have more experience and do a better job.
Due to my limited schedule we had to set an appointment a week and a half out to take care of some small problems I had with 3 light switches in the house.
William came over this morning and fixed everything in about 30 minutes. A huge relief as my wife has been bugging me to take care of these problems for months. Everything is working great, will be able to dim the lights in the baby room without blowing the breaker at last.
Quick work, fair prices and William is a great guy. We joked around a bit, which is always a plus with me.

Just the kind of hard working small business that do a great job that I want to support. Great job. I'll be calling again when I need them!

I highly recommend William Duhon of Duhon Electric. He's professional, determined to satisfy, reasonable with his pricing, and absolutely reliable. Our job dealt with running electricity from the front of the house to the back in preparation of a new hot tub. William and his team did a fantastic job in a period of two days; the first day was spent running the electricity and then he came back on the date of the tub delivery to get everything turned on, plugged in, and working. I had Duhon Electric out to my house many months ago to install 4 canned lights in my kitchen and living room. These guys installed 16 lights, wired and installed under cabinet lighting in my kitchen, crawled through my 1950's ranch style attic to run the wires and did an incredible job! They both are extremly nice and professional to work with and gave us a great price to install all the items we wanted. They worked with us on the location of the lights and made suggestions that we listened to.
We have had them out a couple of times since the big light install for smaller items and they always come quickly (even the same day sometimes - during lunch) and take care of us.

It is nice to have a great and reliable electrician that you know you can trust to do the job right.

These guys are solid. I can't recommend them highly enough. I had a fair amount of work done in my place. New breaker box, additional circuits added, some crazy wiring in my attic that needed attention, recess lighting install, ceiling fan relocation, and GFI outlets. They worked fast, were incredibly clean, and the estimate was spot on.

Keep in mind that their good reviews have them quite busy, so if you can plan out a bit you'll get prompt superior service with little to no surprises. I will uses these guys again, no problem.

After trying to be DIY electrician I found myself needing help! I called Duhon electric and explained my situation he explained over the phone how to correct what I did, he said it's an easy fix but offered to come and take care of it if I didn't feel comfortable. So since I had a few other issues I asked him if he could fit me into his schedule the same day and he did! Once he got to my home he fixed the issues and even gave my husband and I a quick tutorial so we we could do the rest ourselves if we wanted to! William and Raul were fast and professional. I have a few other projects that will be calling them for. It was very reasonable in cost and they exceeded my expectations in customer service.

I had a nagging electrical outlet issue caused by an unwelcome rodent. Being a tinkerer, I tried to replace it, took a nasty shock and then decided it was over my head.

I called Duhon(and I can't remember who came out) and not only did he analyze it, then fix it, but he gave me a brief lesson in home electricity and what I would need to do for some of the other plans I had mentioned. Of course, some of these plans are far beyond my capabilities, so now I'm glad to have a go-to electrician.

After trying to get ahold of several different electrical companies, Duhon was the first to respond and honest on when they can come out. William showed up on time, provided me with honest feedback, and did not charge me since he could not get the job done. In addition, he gave me free estimates for an electrical dryer plug and the cost of installing my new fan.

I haven't seen his work, so I'm only giving him four stars because of that. I am scheduling him to do a few things around the house, so once I get that done I will update.

initial appointment scheduled was missed; i did not receive a call nor any emails.

Naturally i was a little disappointed given the ratings were all perfect.

The following morning though, William called back and apologized for missing the appointment and made known to me that he was involved in an auto accident of the minor kind of course; he offered to come that very afternoon and was on time.

Very polite and easy to talk to and had the range plug changed to a dryer plug(what i requested) in a matter of minutes.

Having someone who is professional but also friendly and easy to talk to goes a long way when you invite strangers into your home.

We have used Duhon for electrical work many times over the years and always had a great experience. Most recently Damien and William helped upgrade the electrical system in an older (1940s) home including: Cleaning up loose electrical wires under the house in a tiny crawl space (making it safe to enter), consolidating and cleaning up our main electrical panel, grounding all of the major appliances, installing new ceiling fans and recessed lighting, and addressing other items found on a recent home inspection report. They always took the time to explain the work that needed to be done and then got it done. They are very busy, so it helps to schedule in advance (which I was able to do). Thanks Damien and William for the fantastic attention to detail and taking such good care of our home! I for one will be sleeping better tonight knowing my electrical system is well cared for.

Damion stopped by our place for all of the 5 minutes it took him to tell the DIY amateurs what we'd done wrong. He was polite and didn't make us feel any stupider than we already were - even when we called him back, and then called him 10 seconds later to tell him never mind.

The next time we have an electrical problem, we'll call Duhon for courteous service and so that we can give them some money for their trouble. Thanks again Damion!

I've had two other electricians over for other things in other units in the past three months and they were just diddling around by comparison . he came.. he saw, he fixed the problems .. all of them and then wore his white hat into the sunset. I've had these guys come out and do a number of things (big and small) on my house and they have always been on time, affordable and extremely professional. They've helped me with last minute construction issues, emergencies, and most recently replaced my entire electric panel.

When they bid out my electric panel, I didn't even compare bids with other electricians because I wanted them to them to do the work. I've seen nothing but fantastic electrical work from them and look forward to using them again when I have some sconces installed.

It is so nice to have reliable electricians in your toolbox. Search no more!

I originally found about William Duhon of Duhon Electric based off recommendations and good reviews by my neighbors on NextDoor. Then when I looked him up on Yelp and saw all the glowing reviews I figured I had found myself the electrician I needed to replace my overhead kitchen light. I had some concerns that the light may have a wiring issues as it hadn't really worked in the three years I have lived in my home, and frankly I have been too broke or too lazy to mess with it till now. But with the new light and bulbs in my possession, I made an appointment for William to come out. He was easy to get in touch with and showed up within days of my initial contact. He was personable, professional, and knew exactly what he was doing! In no time he had my new light installed and voila there was light! I talked to him about a couple other projects I want to have done in the future and will for sure call him when I am ready to have some other lights swapped out. I am happy I finally have a good and reliable electrician to add to my list of people I call to fix or do the many things I don't know how to!

William went above and beyond to make sure we were completely happy with the final product. He brought two additional electricians and they installed 8 complex light fixtures and several dimmers in one day. He personally stayed late and even went to the hardware store to pick up replacement parts for a few that came damaged in the box because my wife was pregnant at the time. Worked with many contractors over the years and must give credit when due, they deservedly receive 5 stars and work hard for your business. The fixtures have been installed for six months now and without any issues. Reached out to him again for additional work!

The guy was courteous and mindful to be quiet with two sleeping babies, work seemed affordable, and work seemed competent (though I'm not a professional so I wouldn't know). On the downside, there was some confusion about appointment day, and he threw out an old light fixture with a CFL bulb still in it, which is not how to properly dispose of such things.

While we were having strong winds and rain from Hurricane Harvey, part of a tree fell on my electrical service line and tore it loose from my house. The line was severed, and we had no power to the house. William Duhon had replaced a failed main breaker for me previously so I called him. He came and assessed the damage. Everything from the breaker box back to the connection to the service line had to be replaced. Estimate was around $3,000.
Since the damage exceeded my insurance deductible, I called State Farm and made a claim. When the Insurance Adjuster called and made an appointment to come assess the damage, I let William Duhon know. William came to the house while the Adjuster was there and started the repair after the Adjuster finished around 1 pm. William's repairs brought my electrical service entrance up to current local codes. As he was getting close to finishing the job, he called for a city inspector to come out. The inspector came promptly. The job passed inspection. The inspector called for a service reconnect and by 5:30 pm our home once again had power. Total cost $3386 including permit and inspection. William and his assistant did an outstanding job. Duhon Electric is the company that I will depend upon for all my future electrician service.

I just called William and asked him to check two outlets that stopped working in my place. He actually took the time to help me to check the problem over the phone - it turns out was something simple and he walked me through the steps to solve it. He was very patient and helpful and, to add to the reviews here, honest (he could have come and charged me for it but he did not). I wrote down his name in case I ever need an electrician.

Yelp did not let me down!
After much procrastination because service calls are typically painful to schedule and expensive, I finally called Duhon Electric to get 3 lights repaired/installed. Yes, doing laundry by flashlight for 3 months :)
William was friendly, responsive, prompt and Duhon was extremely resonably priced. He fixed 2 lights and installed a new dining room fixture and dimmer quickly.

I have a PhD in EE, but when it comes to home electrical issues, I leave it to the professionals! I had some wiring problems and an entire circuit wasn't working in the house. William came in and immediately knew what the problem was, and fixed it on the spot. His ability to figure out precisely where the issue is in your home can only come from lots of lots of experience. He was done fast and so I had him look at some other projects I had started but didn't finish. He finished everything in just over an hour (an hour fifteen to be exact), and he was nice enough just to charge me for an hour. I think that was $95 well spent. I highly recommend him and will use him again for any future projects.

If you need a light hung or any other 10 minute job that anyone with a very minimal amount of understanding about electricity and the ability to read instructions could handle then these guys might actually come out and do it. Of course I'm betting they will charge you for a full hour even though the job would take 10 minutes. I called with an issue that they would actually have to investigate and put some real work into it - in fact it might have even taken them the full hour that they would have charged me. Needless to say they weren't interested and never called me back. Lazy electricians looking to turn a quick buck at your expense.

I got quotes for some electrical work from a contractor referred to me by the Home Depot and also called up William Duhon of Duhon Electrical (after checking his reviews on Yelp) to install 2 ceiling fans, replace a circuit breaker in my garage, and install two GFCI safety electric outlets in my garage and kitchen. I chose Duhon's because not only was his quote less but because of the fabulous reviews he has received on Yelp.

William arrived exactly on time for the job, and quickly and professionally did all the work I had requested, and cheerfully answered all my questions (I always have LOTS of questions :) I highly recommend Duhon's not only for their reasonable prices, but highly professional work. William is also an interesting guy to talk to! In summary, I will DEFINITELY call Duhon's if I need any other electrical work in my house again.

I'm not as impressed with Wiliam as most folks on here. It took him a few days to get to me. Then he was late for his appointment and did not have the breaker I needed. Then he was late getting back from buying the part. His total time spent here was about 10 minutes, and it cost me $95 plus parts. I supposed it is standard to charge a full hour, but I don't think I got great service from the begining to end of the ten minutes. Certainly not worth $107.50.

First job was for a new box at a cost of $2k. He did an okay job but refused to label the breakers in the box. I guess he can't take the time; doesn't know exactly what he is wiring up; and wants me to play the old off-on-label game.

Needed an electrician not long after and hired him to do a relatively simple job. He went way over budget for an just and afternoon job involving a few circuits in a finished carport. He also agreed to do non-electrical work with the help of an assistant. In doing so he dented my 1.5 year old Samsung dryer in several places and then claimed the damage was pre-existing......And after placing the washer/dryer in a relatively tight spot he didn't have the foresight to turn on the hot and cold valves (I guess his washer at home is waterless!). He tried to fudge the numbers based on the allotted hours after I asked for an itemized bill. He wanted to charge $165/hour.....really now? Even with his ~$20/hour assistant that is way too much for mediocrity. Never again.

AMAZING!!!! I had a Solatube installed today, and I called Duhon Electric after having a terrible experience with another independent electrician. (Basically, I called about a short, and when that was fixed, he told me I needed at least 8 GFIs in the house. He was slow, and I finally had to kick him out after 3 and 1/2 hours cause he never gave me a finish time and I realized he was just dilly dallying around trying to make extra money.)

Duhon Electric was a VERY different experience. I called William, and in a few days, he came over and wired my dimmers for my Solatubes. He was quick, professional, efficient, and courteous. He also involved me in decisions, such as where I'd like the switch to be placed. He gave me options and continually updated me on the progress of the install. He even apologized about my previous experience with my first electrician, and William didn't even know him!

If you are looking for a good, honest, trustworthy electrician, this is the place to go!!

A handyman referred me to master electrician Willian Duhon on a Monday morning. When I explained my situation (wires sticking out of the wall and no light downstairs), William was happy to work me in around lunch time the same day! Not only did he correct the problem, he explained the way the switches were wired and why they had to be set up a particular way. With my new knowlege, maybe I'll be more successful with DIY projects in the future. But if not, at least I have someone trustworthy and affordable to call.

What a great experience! William is a stand-up guy - honest, super helpful, and incredibly knowledgeable.

The backstory: I had a ceiling fan that the light stopped working on although the fan worked fine. Being a little handy (I installed the fan myself a few years back), I took the ceiling fan apart, checked all the wires for any loose ones, and replaced the chain switch but still no luck, so I threw in the towel and called a few electricians to get quotes.

The first two companies I called were both nice and both wanted to schedule an appt right away. One charged $130 for the first hour of work with a slightly reduced rate after that, and the other charged around $110/hr plus a traveling fee.

Then I called Duhon and spoke to William. He immediately suspected what turned out to be the issue and told me how I could fix it myself since he knew I already had the fan apart and had been working on it. He spent several minutes explaining in great detail what the issue most likely was and how I could fix it. He even told me I could send pictures to him of the fan if I had any questions on what I was doing. Seriously, who does this? He went out of his way to save me time and money, which I greatly appreciate.

I will be using Duhon Electric for all my electrical work from now on, and am recommending William to all my friends and family.

I called Duhon at 7AM yesterday morning (Monday) to fix what I thought was a big problem with the electrical in my kitchen (no electricity in a small area after my husband replaced a ceiling fixture). William was at my house later the same day and after about 3 minutes, found a second breaker box that my husband and I did not know we had. The 'big problem' turned out to be a tripped breaker. Yes, I felt like an idiot, but William was very nice about it, just smiled and said it happens a lot. He did not charge me anything and just asked that I call him again if I needed an electrician. Wow!

While he was here, I asked him about putting a dimmer on a four-way lighting switch for the patio light. He didn't have the part with him, but was back today and installed the switch. Great customer service and a very nice guy. I will definitely call him again.

The final piece of my room make-over is a chandelier which was the 3rd light fixture installed by Duhon Electric. I was worried about finding an electrician that I could trust and one that had reasonable prices. Both William and his brother Damian delivered great service. They educated me on what I needed to do to change the light to a dimmer for the chandelier and came back again after Home Depot helped me purchase the wrong product. I have two other friends that plan to use Duhon Electric on the upcoming lighting projects.

I do love the fact that I can leave a voice mail and/or email them with what I'm looking for. With a busy schedule, that worked for me. I highly recommend their services.

I called Duhon Electric after experiencing power flickers and outages in the house for two or three weeks. William answered the phone and I described the problem to him. He said he had an idea of what it was, and was at my house within 2 hours. I took him to the breaker box and he found the problem immediately. My connection points were not very solid to one of my breakers and the wire ends had oxidized. He replaced the damaged breaker and added anti-ox cream to all of my connection points. For good measure, he sealed up all the connections in my secondary breaker box in the garage too. Everything worked! With parts and labor, the service call cost less than $150. This was a huge relief and a very positive experience. I wouldn't call anybody else for electrical work.

I just purchased a new house and had two front light fixtures that did not work. William quickly determined that the lights were wired to a low voltage transformer that did not have enough power. He rewired the lights to work with the rest of my front lights in about 15 mins. Great work. I would highly recommend Duhon and will use them in the future.

I had a service call with Fleshman Appliance for my dryer and it turned out that it was not getting power. After a quick Yelp search, I called Duhon. William's partner Damion was able to come out quickly. As it turned out, we have an extra breaker box outside (I think I read that someone else had this same issue!) Damion flipped the breaker and headed out without charging us. We are new home owners and expecting a baby so every little bit helps. They inspected the issue and found a flaw in the work I had done myself. They explained what I had done wrong, corrected the issue and left without charging me.

I called William at Duhon to see if he could get out to my house at some point in the next day or two to help me with 3-4 small electrical problems. He was able to make it out within 1.5 hours of my phone call.

William preceded to fix all my issues (incorrect GFCI installations and wiring on my part) and explained to me what he was doing while doing it. During the time at my house he was very personable and professional. At the end of fixing everything he walked me through what he had done and everything worked perfectly.

I just had William come out and do some work for me today and I'm very happy with the results! Before the agreed time, he called to say that he was running a tad late, which I appreciated. He was very personable and completed all the little tasks (replacing switches and outlets, over the range microwave, light fixtures), and seemed happy to look at a few additional things I asked him about as well. He was done in about the time he said it would take (just over 3 hours - which is MUCH better than the time it would've taken me, that's for sure). Called William in the afternoon with a breaker issue on my AC unit. He was booked, but got me in the same day since having the AC down was a miserable option in our office.

Turned out the problem wasn't the breaker, so up to the roof we went to see if it was an electrical problem with the AC. After an hour of taking the thing apart and explaining what he was doing and why (love that he let me watch and learn -- not everyone will do that) it turned out to be an AC part and nothing electrical. He was able to narrow it down to two parts, which was really helpful when I had to talk to the AC folks. My AC guy says it is really rare to have an electrician who will let you watch and explain what they are doing -- a good sign of an honest broker.

I used a referred licensed electrician to do some work in my home. Before this work was done, I never had any issues with flickering lights. I had to call this electrician out several times after he did his work and every time he came out, he said it was something different. On my last call to him, he said I needed a new breaker box. I was fed up and decided to call Duhon for a second opinion. I told Duhon I would pay him for his time, but I wanted him to come check his work. William spent 2 hours at my house pulling electric wall and socket plates off to show me how the electrician had cut corners and not done the work up to code. He also took apart my breaker box, explained how my house was under the required electricity for its size, and climbed in the attic and found that the lines the electrician told me he ran, were not there. (Apparently electric wire is date stamped, so you can tell which ones are new.) William took the time to explain things to me so that I could be prepared when I called the 1st guy back. He understood that I was taken advantage of and felt embarrassed that the person who did it was a licensed electrician. I could tell he has a high level of pride in his work and professionalism. In the end, he walked me to his truck and gave me one of the $8 purple connectors that should have been placed in each of my electric sockets instead of the 10 cent ones that were used. He also didn't charge me for the consultation. He only asked that we consider him for our electrician next time one is needed. WOW! What an awesome guy - no doubt, William, you will be who we call and who we refer all of our clients to.

We called him at night and he returned the call first thing in the morning, set up an appointment that afternoon, called to let me know he was running about 20 minutes EARLY. (when does that usually happen? Cable guys give you an 8 hour window and are always late! :)

Anyway, we had him fix two fans for us - one that was buzzing and flickering in my daughter's room (scary!) and our fan that was so noisy, we couldn't sleep.

He fixed them both quickly in just over an hour, was very friendly and efficient., and SUPER affordable! I will definitely cal him again if I need an electrician, and HIGHLY recommend him to anyone else looking for one.

We just bought a new house that had 45-year old aluminum branch circuit wiring, and after doing some reading online, we decided that we wanted to get it modernized affordably (i.e. not rewiring the whole house). Based on his Yelp reviews, we called William at Duhon Electric to come out and give us an estimate. His estimate was definitely reasonable, about on par with other electricians. But what really impressed me was William's professionalism, knowledgeability and ability to relate to me as a first-time homeowner. I scheduled him to come out and pigtail all of our switches, fixtures and outlets using AlumiConn connectors the next week. He and his crew got our whole ~900 sf house done in about a day and a half. I was really impressed with the quality of the work, he understood the importance of having the work look nice and be professional-seeming with high-quality switches and outlets. They worked quickly and efficiently, yet William was always indulgent with my many stupid questions (hey, it's my first house!) They even put in an extra outdoor outlet for me after I told him we had bought an electric mower and he realized the outlets we had were insufficient for the power of a mower we bought. The bill was pretty much spot-on to the estimate (plus that extra outlet), and they even checked and updated the previous homeowner's map of my breaker box. Now I feel much better about the electrical system in my house, not only for our reliability and safety, but for the potential resale value down the road. Thanks, William!

I usually allow some slack for working individuals without a receptionist etc. to take some time getting back etc. I figure in exchange for my patience I don't have to pay as much. Duhon did have some delays but when he finally made it to my house, he took care of things like a true pro and very quickly. I'm giving him the full 5 Stars but I would just give a heads up to keep an eye on over committing. In any case, I was really impressed with the speed and quality of the work. He even offered to fix and/or look at other issues given that he had taken care of my light switch wiring problem in about 10 minutes. I will certainly call Duhon Electric again if the need arises.

Granted we do live in their neighborhood, but I don't think that would have made much of a difference. William came to fix a problem that another electrician said he had fixed a few months prior. Well, when my coffeemaker caught on fire, I knew it wasn't fixed. William explained to me everything that he was doing and what the problem was (I had no idea what he was talking about, I have no background in electrical issues, but he did a good job trying to put it in laymen's terms). I will definitely be calling Duhon Electric in the future for any other issues. Fair price for a lot of time spent fixing what someone else should have fixed the first time around. Only downside, I had to wait a few days to get them out here. They are busy for a reason, so it was worth the wait. Very professional!

I called William from Duhon electric today after running into some problems with my kitchen electrical. One of my problems was the disposal was hard wired into the wall behind the dishwasher rather than having an easily accessible wall outlet. The disposal pooped out and needed to be changed which I was happy to do after my new outlet was placed by William. Second problem solved was the replacing of a GFI outlet in the kitchen that had been shorting out multiple outlets near to it. So all of this was done in around an hour and a half for a fair price (little over 100 bucks). I'm sure there is several guys in town that could fix this problem but that's not why I'm giving him 5 stars. I'm giving him 5 stars because I called him with a problem and got same day service, a fair price and quality work plus he offered to help me with any troubleshooting problems in regard to the disposal over the phone sometime in the future. That is service rarely seen anymore and he was even very sweet to my two year old who can be a pain in the butt. I will call him again if I come across any electrical problems in the future, he's a trustable guy for sure.

William was great. I called him around 2pm about my dryer outlet not getting 240V. He suspected the breaker was bad, and told me he'd be out after 5:30pm. This was perfect because I would have plenty to meet him there after work. He made it there around 6. His over-the-phone diagnosis was correct. He promptly replaced the breaker and my dryer was up and running in no time. He also flipped out the outlet as it have been installed upside down at some point. He was professional, curious and very nice. He even gave me some suggestions about future electrical work and let me know if they would be easy or worth the trouble. I would recommend him to anyone and will be having him back out in a couple of months to do some other wiring projects.

My tenant didn't want to wait for several days until my regular (great) electrical people could get to her apartment (electrical to her fridge was out). So, after a bit of on-line research, I accidentally stumbled onto Duhon. I called early morning with a small electrical problem, and left a message. Within about 5 minutes, William called me back. From that point, everything thereafter was great. He was able to get to my issue within about 4 hours (called ahead as promised), was prompt, courteous, friendly, knowledgeable, and reasonably-priced. I'd never used this company before, but manage numerous rental properties, and WILL be going back to them. Bottom line = HIGHLY professional, responsive, and superior service. And after 30 years as landlord, I know that this exemplary type of repair service is increasingly difficult to find. William Duhon was great. I am in the process of buying a house and was looking on yelp for an electrician to come inspect some issues my inspector had been concerned about.Since I don't know much about electric stuff, I really wanted to find someone who was nice and patient and down to earth who'd be willing to help me understand the issues the inspector had uncovered, and William was terrific. Each time I called him, he returned my call promptly and was really flexible about meeting me and coordinating with my real estate agent to find a time where we had access to the house. Each time he came out to the house, he was not only on time, but early! He was really patient about explaining electrical stuff to me. I felt like he was really honest, genuine and fair, and even took the time to correct a problem with the dryer hookup and adjust the temperature setting on the tankless heater, even though he was just there for inspection purposes. He was very down to earth and reasonable. I will definitely be calling once we move in to add a few outlets etc.

All those great yelps aren't wrong! William answered his phone, set up an appointment the same day (for which he was early) and got my problem taken care of ASAP. I think he's trying to give contractors a good name.

Great service, great price and great work! I had several wall outlets & dishwasher in the kitchen go out. I called, and they sent an excellent service tech who quickly diagnosed two problems and fixed them both for a reasonable price. He was on time, even though it was towards the end of the day, when some service techs get behind. He also gave excellent and easy advice on how to avoid the problem in the future. Hands down, these are super guys!

I called last week to set up an appt w/ Duhon after reading a bunch of reviews on Yelp. William answered and said he could come when we wanted (yesterday) and asked what all of our issues were so he could be prepared. We had the day off, so I was glad he could come out so quickly. When he showed up, he took care of everything we needed without any problems. He knew exactly what he was doing and was very nice and professional. I will definitely use them again if I ever have any electrical issues in the future.

We used Duhon Electric to replace a dryer outlet and to install a whole house surge protector. Duhon did the work promptly and for a reasonable price. A friend of mine who knows electricity well told me that the installation of the whole house surge protector should be done a certain way. I sent him a photo of the installation. He said it was done perfectly. I now have a reliable electrician to call upon.

I can't tell what kind of work these guys do because it is impossible to get them to respond or show up when they do. I called them and e-mailed them requesting en estimate. Didn't get a call back. Called again, no call back. Finally heard from him a week later and scheduled a meeting. He was late, I called him to see where he was and he said that he couldn't make it at the time we agreed. This is terrible customer service. While others may have had a great experiece with them, mine was the exact opposite. There are plenty of good electricians in this town that actually show up and return calld. I won't use these guys again.

Just had a very pleasant experience with Duhon Electric. I've needed some work done for years and had been putting it off because I HATE to deal with electricians, plumbers, etc. Called Duhon and made an appointment for mid-day, 2 days later. William called twice to let me know that the job he was working on was running late instead of just letting me wonder when he was going to show up. When he did show up, he quickly got to work and determined the problem, which was a tripped breaker. Since my box is so old, it apparently doesn't always work when it's just flipped back and forth. William reset it and I asked to have it replaced. He said that it would be the middle of next week and that since it was outside, would just stop by when he had time. Well, he showed up the next (Sat) morning, replaced the breaker, and didn't even charge for an entire service charge since he had just been out. I would definitely use Duhon again!

First Rate Class Act. I left a message one day, mid-morning. I got a call back within minutes. William was at my house the same day in the mid-afternoon. A power outage had caused some multiple GFI issues. Usually, I reset them and everything is fine, but after some upgrades I didn't have to key information to reset them all. And, to be honest, I just didn't want to hassle with in the heat anymore. The solution was simple and felt kinda stupid and embarrassed. William was a consummate professional. He looked straight at me and said, How could you know. I felt better and the job took less than 10 minutes. We chatted it up like friends do. He didn't want to charge me, telling he'd rather get my business for something electrical when I need it, like lights, plugs, fans, whatever. I couldn't let it go with that, because he really is such a nice guy and he solved a potential disaster in minutes. I wrote a check for $30. The guy's got to make a living. And besides, I gonna need him later. He's got to stay in business. He's a keeper.... Call Duhon Electric...it's two brothers making our lives a little better with a good sense of humor, professional decorum and a humble heart. You'll be glad you called them.
