Here we are 9 months out from the last time they were here and the motor is out again AND surprise surprise the part is on backorderAGAIN. Everytime they come out we're told how the previous tech should have done one thing or another to have prevented the current issue. Also we were told the Trane AC was the better unit and we paid a substantial amount and so far we've had to call techs out here more than we did with our 2007 unit. The parts are always on back order which is ridiculous for an AC company who services Texas. We have been with out AC for 6 days with a 6 month old in the house. This business is a complete disappointment. Payed good money for a working unit and instead they installed a POS and continue to profit from it. DO NOT RECOMMEND DOING BUSINESS WITH THEM!

The team at Champion AC just do great work. We really appreciate the efforts of Josh, Eric, and their crews. They are always super professional and go above and beyond to make sure you're satisfied with their work. We feel so much safer with the electrical situation in our home, and can't imagine using anyone else.

Wow. Words fail me.
We signed up for their year long contract which provides A/C and heating inspection and maintenance. Seemed like such a good idea, and the salesman was amazing in talking about their service and responsiveness.
Yea. Right.
Called WEEKS ago to schedule fall heating maintenance. Specifically asked for today and a morning appointment. Was told that since I was scheduling so far in advance I would be first on the dispatch list.
Liars.
Called at 11:30 and told I was next.
Called at 1:30 and told I was next.
Told they went with 'open scheduling' and would call 1 hour before arriving- 'to give me the opportunity to get back home from whatever it was I was doing' .
My days aren't free?! I work. I need to know if you're coming in the morning or the afternoon .
I get to just wait and wait for a service I scheduled weeks ago? That I am paying you for?
I don't think so.
When contact ends in April we will not be continuing.

Purchased an annual maintenance agreement and was supposed to receive two scheduled maintenance calls per year. The company made it nearly impossible to schedule the appointment at a time convenient for us, which lead to us not receiving any scheduled maintenance for the year. Waste of money on the agreement, as they never provided service.

We tried to play by their rules and scheduled our Fall/Winter service at least 30 days in advance, and requested a morning time frame. Their call center team called this morning to inform them that their tech would be out this morning. Very pleasant conversation with Michelle.

Then, Vanessa from dispatch called a few minutes later stating they weren't coming out, as their call center had just informed me. Vanessa gave us the run around, was rude and dismissive, and explained that they weren't responsible for the scheduling error, due to unforeseen weather conditions. It's November, it's winter, it's not unforeseen lol. Listened to various other excuses, as she tried to blame their scheduling issues on the customer and we ended up just cancelling our maintenance with them. Again, never received any scheduled maintenance anyways lol.

Customer service lacks in this company and there seems to be a conflict between their call center and dispatch team, that's painfully apparent, as it affects the customer directly. This company is more focused on calls for service. Customers with maintenance agreements are pushed aside, even though they've paid up front for scheduled maintenance.

Definitely not worth the time or money.

First off they were very responsive and polite however any company that will have a problem being on a job site with other competitors bidding on the work to be done will never have my business. If you can not compete on a fair playing field you don't deserve my business. If you need special quality time with a customer then bid like everyone else and let the customer decide if you are worthy of their job. It made me feel this company is very shady when they can't do bids when others are out there. (May be part of the reason for the 3 1/2 star rating.)
5 other companies have no problem with this.

This is the 2nd time that Chris has been out to my house & he is an excellent technician & seems to have a lot of integrity.  He was at my home a couple days ago to do my heater tune-ups & I feel confident that I will have plenty of heating when cooler weather arrives.  Chris is different than many assorted technicians I have had in my home over the years (with different companies) in that he really seems to go above & beyond.  He tells you what he is doing & explains things so that when he does leave, you are not left there suddenly thinking that you should have asked this or that.  He is also not hesitant to ask you questions.  I asked him to change my thermostat but before he did so, he asked enough questions so that he could see if there was anything he could do to the existing thermostat to correct the problems I was having, before changing it.  I really appreciated the effort but think the old thermostat was defective to begin with so he changed it out to one I like much better & then showed me how to work it.  He is just awesome & I will be asking for him again the next time I need either of my units checked (hopefully not until spring tune-ups)!

I do have a couple of constructive criticisms of the company, totally unrelated to Chris but will not reduce my 5 star rating because of them.  By themselves, I would probably have given a much lower rating though.

First, the call center really needs a lot of improvement!  Despite calling several times & speaking with 4-5 people, I actually didn't think there was a call center & that just random employees were answering the phone, due to the notable lack of enthusiasm & the difficulty hearing who I was talking to.  Got the impression they were keeping their mouth as far away as possible from the phone & just wanted to end the call.  Brandon was the last person I spoke with & he was the exception in that he was easy to hear & was very pleasant to talk to so please give him my compliments.  But based on the earlier phone calls, I would never have chosen to go with Champion, if they had not been able to send Chris out immediately on a prior occasion due to a leak in my AC drain line.  When calling a company to give them your business, people want to talk to someone who is cheery & seems to like their job as they are a reflection of the whole company.  You only have one chance to make a first impression & your call center is where that first impression is made.

Second, I have a real problem with the Shield of Protection Maintenance Program, when adding a 2nd heating/cooling system & there is no lesser cost option to add it.  I added my 2nd unit & once I printed out the invoice for it, I realized that I was being ripped off so called to ask about it.  I was told that this is the only program available which makes absolutely no sense.  The program includes electrical & plumbing inspections, water heater flush, etc.  Well, I only have one house, with one electrical system, one plumbing system, one water heater, etc, but by adding my 2nd system, I am now paying for all those benefits twice, which I may or may not use!  I sarcastically asked the guy I talked to if that meant that I could have all those things done twice then during the year & he said probably, since I paid for them.  Apparently, he missed my whole point & did not see how ridiculous the program is.  If you check with any of your major competitors, you will find that most, if not all, offer a reduced rate to add a 2nd heating/cooling system to any maintenance program they offer.  This in itself will have me questioning whether or not to renew next year.

Requested quote for standby generator. Contractor tried to upsell everything. The generator we needed could be purchased from Generac for $6500 but Champion wanted $22500 to install it for a total of $29k+. We already have gas lines so it requires installing one breaker and an additional 50' of gas line and electric. Of the $22500 to install, $3500 was for the extended gas and electric leaving $19k just for the pad and hookup. Totally felt like we were going to be ripped off. Look elsewhere for standby generators.

It seems Champion no longer cares about their customers. I pay for their service package and been a loyal customer for over 6 years. Had them out in February for service, where they convinced me to invest in a uv system. Recently, I had them come back out because the outside unit was making a noise. The tech informed me the motor was going out. And that the UV light was burned out and not a very good system, to which he recommended a more expensive unit. I explained that we just got the uv system and the light should not have already burned out. The tech agreed and said they would send some one back out to replace it. In addition he was surprised that Champion had sold and installed the unit., when I asked why they didn't see any signs back in Feb that the motor was going out. The tech finally found our record, and said some of the parts might be covered under carrier 10 year warranty. That he would get back to me, he would also send a tech out to replace the uv light since it was less than a year. Nothing.... I called, spoke to a manager, explain situation. He said he would look into it and call me back... nothing. Submitted online chat request. Got a text saying someone would call me NOTHING. Not even a call saying we are still looking into it.  All I want is to get the UV light replaced and before I spend 900 on a new motor for them to check if Carrier will cover some or all of the cost of the motor for the unit I paid 6k for from them. At this time I would not recommend them , because they do not follow through on their service. And it is questionable the products they sell you(UV system)

I have been in business since 2005, as a small business owner who suffered with everyone else during pandemic. Sorry to say unable to come back, and had to close up. During the reconsidering opening again period, I remembered using Champion for let's say a very particular client, and found them to be an awesome company. I don't usually recommend companies unless they meet certain standards. Champion AC, met and exceeded those standards, I was so impressed by their Techs professionalism and the ability to listen to my client and make only those necessary repairs but offer the long term scenarios as well. So after deciding to close up my residential and commercial maintenance service co. I've sent emails to all my clients HIGHLY RECOMMENDING  Champion AC. Also being a Navy Veteran, I'm glad to recommend another Veteran with the same high level of standards, now lost through all these get rich and forget the customer type of companies all over city. And plz don't hold it against him that he's a N.O. Saints fan. Good luck going forward Buddy stay safe.

Highly disappointed in the unit they installed. I've spent the last year trying to get this system to actually cool our entire house, and we still have rooms that get no cooling in the summer. Our master bedroom is on average 5-10 degrees hotter than the rest of our house. Champion swore up and down that this system would be so much better than our old one, save us money (which it hasn't), etc, but it's been so much more trouble. When they installed it they never bothered to balance the system either, which I would imagine is part of the issue. When I had them come back out and check on it roughly a month after install, their answer was I need to spend another $1000 (after already purchasing a $15,000 system and service plan) to have new ducts run.

Their people are very polite and courteous, which is the ONLY reason this isn't 1 star. But I would recommend taking your business elsewhere unless you want to end up with a $20,000 bill.

Horrible service! My insurance company referred me to this place and got stuck with them.
1) never answered the phone - not exaggerating! I had to contact my insurance company and obtain email contact information to reach them!
2) attempted to reach the manger, to this day (2 months later)I have yet to hear from him
3) the technician was always late, came back several times to complete the repair and..... left a huge mess in my back yard!!!! I ended up paying an HOA fine for trash!
4) I still don't have the job completed! Nightmare!

Made an appointment for my day off, half way through the day I called an inquired about my appointment. They said oh sorry, there is no tech available. The guy was very nice and apologized for the mistake. He set an appointment for me for the next week and said he had assigned a tech and and would be there at 10 am. At 10:30 I called and talked to another very nice rep. She told me I was next on the list. I asked for a time estimate and told her what had happened with last appointment. She repeated herself saying she couldn't give me and time estimate. I was very frustrated and told her to go ahead and cancel the appointment, I could wait all day not knowing how much longer his previous job would take. I just wanted to know if it would be sooner or later. She couldn't give me any idea of the time and got very rude. I could hear her mumbling oh yeah, I'll cancel your appointment as she hung up on me. I immediately called back and spoke with Michelle. I asked for a supervisor and told her what had happened. she was very nice and said a supervisor would call me back, they were all in a meeting. It's been 3 days and no call - I'm not really expecting a call back anymore, I just wanted to let them know how rude she was when there was a problem.
Saddest part is, a couple of years ago I received some of the best customer service from this company. Very disappointed!

I made an appt back on May 17th.  I received reminder phone call and confirmed, received text confirmation, asking me to respond with a C to confirm as instructed.  Received a call today, May 31 saying they were trying to reach me and no techs available today.  Rep said unable to reach me! What?!  After 2 phone calls, a text confirmation and email response and you say you can't reach me?  Again what?  I need 2 AC units replaced at some point.  You lost my business.  Very unprofessional!  I received email and text confirming Tuesday, May 31.  What more did I need to do?  I talked to reps to confirm?  Crazy!  I will take my business elsewhere!

I purchased the annual air conditioning and heating check package from Jennifer.  She failed to inform me that this was a one-year commitment so I signed a contract blindly.  She called me the day before my appointment and asked me to re-schedule because she forgot the technicians were in training that day.  My technician was about 2 hours late-he went to the wrong address.  I asked him to allow me to watch him wash out the outside component so I could learn to do it myself.  He ignored my request-I heard him outside and ran out there.  Lastly, he said he would email me an invoice but did not.  I had to call in for it.  These mistakes should not be occuring at a major company---please, please, improve your customer service skills.  You have lost me as a customer.

Very happy to review Champion AC and their team. Jaime came to our home to provide a free estimate. He was thorough and explained everything to me. His explanation was professional and easy to understand. He didn't sugar coat anything and was upfront about any questions we had. Upon receiving the estimate, we were able to schedule the unit to be installed in less than two days. The installers were on time (even a few minutes early), professional and exceptionally polite. They worked with care and efficiency. They wrapped up the whole project in about 6 hours. They made sure they cleaned everything up and explained how everything operated. We are paying a little over $11,100 for everything but they truly had the best warranties and guarantees than all other estimates. Given how important the air conditioning is in Texas summers the pricier option was not so bad to wrap my brain around. Financing was easy and the application took less than five minutes online. Excellent company, excellent professionals and excellent experience.

After a lot of labor intensive research selected Champion AC to install a new central HVAC unit in our home. With superior guidance from Michael upon initial consultation and inspection we ultimately opted for THE GENERAL package-a multi-stage/4 ton/18 SEER unit installed 9/23/21. Lead installers Roland and James were just fabulous throughout! The unit and install quality was superb-these guys took great pride in their work. We selected Champion primarily for one reason: their exceptional reputation in the industry. These guys did not disappoint. Plus-Champion is an authorized TRANE dealer. When making a major HVAC purchase it's critical the installers be masters of their craft and their was no question these guys had that skill set. While any big job like this can be stressful, Roland and James could not have made our experience any better. They were highly efficient, knowledgeable, and thorough. They cleaned up way beyond our expectations and left zero damage to our walls/doors. It was a big job, but clearly had the experience/know how to get the job done right. Classy operation-thanks for an amazing experience-cheers!

I recently had to replace my central a/c and as it is a big expense, I had 3 different companies give me estimates.  Out of all 3 companies I contacted, Jason was by far my favorite estimator!  He was very thorough, (visually inspected both of my attics), gave me the best price and also wrote the clearest estimate out of all three companies; hands down.

Jason genuinely cared about doing a good job, (translation= he wasn't salemansy!), and was fantastic following up with me.  The ONLY reason I didn't go with Champion is because the company I purchased my new system from temporarily fixed my old a/c over the weekend and matched Champion's price.  As a bonus, Champion has a great website filled with useful information: championac.com/blog.

Bottom line, (IMHO), you won't find another person that genuinely cares about finding the best solution for you as much as Jason does.  Highly recommended,--call Jason today at 210-585-0807!

I called on 21Apr21 to make an appointment with them and the scheduler told me there would be a $29 trip charge. Of course, this trip charge would be waived if I accepted their estimate for the work  I want done. I've contacted 4 other electricians and none of them are charging trip fees.
I'm only getting estimates on what it will cost to do the work I want done. That's the whole purpose of getting estimates is finding what it's going to cost. I will chose the best estimate offer which may not be the lowest but with the company that I am comfortable with. Additionally, I will have other work that needs to be done too.

I had a repair scheduled for over a month. I paid almost 4k upfront for parts and labor. On Friday I called to confirm my appointment and was told it was confirmed.  This was very important as I had to take vacation time off to get this done.
I received a call this morning that apart had not come in and my work had to be rescheduled for another day.  I took more leave time tomorrow to get this done.
As a Veteran, I certainly understand the supply chain but I also understand good customer service and follow up to prevent this costly reschedule that I AM EXPECTED TO BE OK WITH!
I will not have anymore work done by Champion AC. I see now it is all about the money and nothing about my satisfaction.
I am a veteran active in this community and I will share my disappointment and not recommend you to other Vets interested in supporting veteran owned business.
Shame on you !

HVAC-Everyone is trying to be masters at sales and marketing; to the point they forget that business is about customer service.  To gain new relationships you must first establish rapport and if successful you then can work on trust. CHAMPION HVAC was at my house yesterday. Before elaborating on what the cost of fixing the actual problem is this tech is quoting me three different Maintenance Plans all at $1,000+ !!!!!!!!!!
The problem--For $300+ he was going to fix my high energy safety system, what a NON-DECEPTIVE term for a fuse which is maybe $1.00.  And a good $100+ more than I have ever paid to have a capacitor replaced (one of most common electronic parts to fail on an AC unit in these parts.  A total of around $700-800 as I recall. He did not leave a written estimate, only his iPad.
I authorized the work but told him I would like to speak with the owner. He stated he could have him call me. A short time later I spoke with Lance, their operations manager about their poor sales technique and establishing rapport and trust with a new customer I was shocked at their strategy. After authorizing the work at their  inflated price the technician packs up and leaves without getting our system up and running.  He stated this was Lance's (operations manager and according to him a part owner) decision not to do business with me. Wastes my time and their time and destroys a potential new customer.
There are reputable HVAC contractors in the area but they all behave like they work on commission or they have Carte Blanche to charge the most they feel they can get away with.  And they think the general public are mostly idiots who make rash decisions when overheated!
It is most unfortunate for Champion as the have invested a lot in TV ads which show honesty and credibility. Their service personal are apparently trained with a different attitude.
THE REST OF THE STORY--Hard to believe.
I called Wilkes Air (210 534-9911)- on recommendation from our Ring neighborhood app. They as well gave me a 4 hour window but instead of showing up at the very end of a 4 hour window they called and beat the start of their 4 hour window by 30 minutes.
What was found was astonishing!  The Champion tech told me that everything was put back exactly as it was when he arrived.  The Wilkes tech removed the cover panel on the outside breaker adjacent to the outside unit and where there should be TWO fuses there is only one? THE SYSTEM WOULD NOT HAVE OPERATED WITHOUT THIS FUSE IN PLACE AND IT QUIT WORKING INSTANTLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT.  I don't think anyone stole it in the middle of the night and only one other person touched the unit.
The Wilkes tech (Daniel?) replaced both fuses, turn breaker back on and the system immediately came on AND WAS COOLING!  The capacitor worked just fine, and 24 hours later still is.  If the Wilkes Air tech had removed a blown fuse he would have shown it to me. The Champion tech had nothing to show.

Contrary to Champion's business model Wilkes AC offers free service calls AND Worry Free Service.  Their maintenance club is a better value and nearly half the price.
Wilkes Air I highly recommend.

We had our AC capacitor replaced by them for $348 only last summer (2020) and now it's dead. I called them today to ask about a guarantee and was told it was only valid for 30 days. Something like that shouldn't last only a year.

I made an appointment for an AC tune up 10 days prior to appointment date.  Appointment was scheduled between 10 and 2.  Amanda called me at 10:30 saying her technicians were hung up on another job and they needed to reschedule.  Not later in the day or the following day but next week.  I declined and went with another company that values other people's time.

My AC is out, will not turn on I called Champion AC since I get the flyers and I saw them online. The tech gave out the next day and got here early which was fantastic. He checked the outside condenser and then the thermostat and on to the air handler, so he was not getting any power to a transformer and that it would be nearly 300 dollars to replace it on top of the service charge they don't wave with repairs like most companies, anyways, he replaced that and the AC kicked on for about 2 seconds then he said that the blower needs to be replaced and that's 700 dollars or so. I could not afford that plus he said he didn't know if that will fix it but he didn't know until he replaced it so then he started asking me about putting in a brand new unit and he could set up a meeting with a sales person, I told him I'll have to think about it. So is it normal to leave a brand part in the air handler that didn't fix anything and charge me almost 400 dollars for job that didn't fix anything? Please tell me what you think. I'm pretty pissed and I feel like this company just ripped me off. I've never had a company not fix my AC when they came out. One guy came out and fixed my AC in less than an hour and I paid a lot for the service but I had a working AC unit. I would never leave people with a family and pets without AC because this guy wants me to buy a brand new unit. Let me know what you think!

Had both of our A/C units go out in September (2 story home). We had 5 different companies come out, review for repair and replacement bids.  Champion was a clear winner. Every company that came out (including a friend who didn't bid) identified the issue with my 15 yr old systems as not worth the repair, so we moved to replacement.  Champion sized them well (some oversized) and they listened to my needs to bid the right level of system (some tried to sell me on things I didn't need or want for more money).  at a total of $12K for a 5ton and a 3.5ton replacement, new Nest thermostats, 5 yrs of service and warranty, full replacement of inside and outside units, with 0% financing for it, I was a happy guy, and 1 year later, I still am.  The rep who came out had detailed presentation and produced a detailed quote for the job. They did a great job on a replacement.

No regrets! From the beginning sales consult till the installers drove away I felt I received top notch service!!

Jason came out and listened to our issues with our current AC system, and then after inspecting our house and our current AC equipment he showed me 3 different Carrier options for replacement and the prices for each option. At no time while talking to Jason did I feel pressured or rushed into making a purchase. He answered all my questions and through his expertise and confidence in Champion AC he convinced me that I was choosing the right company to replace my AC system.

Day of install, Eduardo and Roque showed up on time. I appreciated them putting on shoe covers and also placing down drop cloths from the entryway to the AC closet. They worked quickly and efficiently and were finished with the install in just under 5 hours. At the end of the install Eduardo explained a few things about my new AC system and answered my questions.
Thank you Champion AC for the first class treatment I received!!

Getting the system installed in the winter also made for a slight discount on the equipment and service plan!

I've been using Champion for years.  I'm in a new house and I am now on a maintenance program with them.  They are very knowledgeable and responsive.  My last maintenance check was from Dustin Woodworth. He even came back because he'd forgotten to let me know that he noticed my filter really needed to be changed during his inspection.  Dustin took his time and was very friendly and informative.  I will continue to use and recommend Champion.

First, the good. Champion was responsive and my tech was punctual. Thanks for being on time and attentive.

Now, the rest. Champion does not offer competitive prices and their upselling of an annual service membership is aggressive, unnecessary and frankly, sends a mixed message about why you called them in the first place. For example, this is ALWAYS a bad sign: After a tech performs an evaluation of your HVAC problem, they should not spend the first several minutes discussing why a customer needs an annual service membership for $169/year. Why not start by addressing the customer's problem and explaining what Champion can do to fix it and for what cost. Then, if your customer is agreeable, explain why paying for the membership might be more expensive up front, but could save over the course of a year. Unfortunately, Champion did not get this memo and rather presents its options on a tablet buried under questionable math. When I directly asked Champion's tech to remove the annual membership cost and tell me how the price, the price went up about $150. What?! I would expect some offset (due to not getting the 15% discount from the annual membership), but this did not make any sense. At this point, I think I literally heard an alarm bell ringing in my head.

But that's not all. Back to my specific issue of the day. I needed a refridgerant recharge and was interested in the cost of a leak evaluation. Champion's tech quoted $515 for 8 pounds of refridgerant (the leak analysis was an add'l $200). I asked the tech how much refridgerant I needed. He didn't know. I then asked him why he was quoting me for 8 pounds if he didn't know how much I needed. He responded that it's a flat rate and Champion did not want to steal from customers if they needed more than 8 pounds. I then asked him if he thought Champion would be stealing from me if I needed less than 8 pounds. It's the only price I can offer, he said. That's not good enough for me. I paid for the service call and thanked the tech for his time.

So I called another company today to recharge my refridgerant. They charged me $200. Champion wanted to charge me more than TWICE that amount, despite not knowing how much I needed. Plus, they wanted to sign me up for an annual membership for $169/yr. I get that services contracts are great for companies to manage their cashflow, but maybe earn my trust first? If you don't do that, it seems a bit predatory.

If you read this, consider carefully whether this is the company you want servicing your home.

The service tech that came out to initially diagnose the problem and then install the new system was great! Knowledgeable and friendly. However the system had been running continuously since installation and could never properly cool. After calling, Champion sent out another technician who was a bit aggressive, confrontational and rude. After calling to relay my experience I got a sense that this wasn't the first time and I wasn't the first person to complain about this. Based on this experience  I wouldn't recommend using this company.

our a/c was out, they came right away. Labor cost was 10x part cost. (relay/starter) Repairman kept telling me our 12 year old unit was old, it won't last long and we needed a contract for them to check on stand maintain it. I thought it was a year (12) month contract. called them back next season to check unit, we got told it is old, nothing was done, no repairs.
called them next season for checkup and were told our contract was only for one checkup. they have NEVER contacted me since. I feel they tried to sell us a new unit, when we didn't bite, they moved on. unit still working well 14 years old. highest summer bill $122.

They were awesome. I was out of town and my wife was home with a semi-functional a/c. We went with another company first and they didn't know how to trouble shoot our issue. Plus the other company quoted me two different prices over the phone.  Champion was great, they didn't take advantage at all and only wanted to help. They take care of the military!  Highly recommend

Well, first of all we've had them over 2 times. First time they did a replacement of parts in our system. So thirty days later; the same part we paid a pretty penny for broke again..When we called & explained that it was the same part: they immediately told us it was out of warranty. Well we found out it wasn't out of warranty!
They lied so you can pay another hefty price for the same part. Never using them again(Champion).. Overpriced & question their practices....And their main focus was to sell you a new AC or maintenance plans...And if you didn't go along with it; it was like oh well...Being a so called Veteran owned company; shameful...

I had used another AC company previously and they didn't impress me. My AC couldn't maintain a constant temp and my house was getting and staying uncomfortable. My good friend recommended Champion AC so I decided to give them a chance. The initial technician (Jonathan) was very professional and knowledgeable. After discussing my options I opted to get a new AC unit installed. Two days later Mike and Steve showed up to install the new system. They did great work and installed the new unit in under 8 hours. My house is now comfortable and I'm happy. I recommend them!

Responded immediately, got to the job within a couple of days. This was for a small electrical issue. The service tech (Joe) was preceded by a text from Champion with his photo and a link to a bio video of him which was pretty impressive. Joe gave me a quick estimate as to exactly what needed to be done, how he can do it, and got it done fast at a reasonable price. He also wore a mask the entire time. Can't ask for much more, thanks!

Highly recommended. Great, friendly staff, fantastic service. Purchased the AC unit, heater, duct replacement, added insulation. During the one-day installation, I noticed that the techs hardly spoke to one another. This indicated to me that every professional knew their precise assignments and got their jobs done in a timely and efficient manner. After obtaining several estimates, I'm very glad to have chosen Champion AC.

Great after-purchase service availability and communication.

We had Champion AC install a $10K AC system in our home on 1 Jun 2018. Installation was excellent!!! Our first service was 30 April 2019 was also excellent!!!
We told the technician that compressor would make a high pitched squeal intermittently on start up, technician could not duplicate at service call. On 15 July 2019 the compressor is make a loud strange noise so I call Champion AC, and Alex answers and tells me since we don't have their service plan they are booked out til 22nd July but being a member you get faster service and also it would be a $99 service call and I could still sign up so I said WTF!!! I asked to speak to Aaron the guy that sold us the system and he reminded me about the service plan that I declined..... Reason why we are military and you just don't know when those short notice orders might drop... I asked to speak to someone in Management and Lance called me back and explains that the AC system parts are under warranty for ten years but labor is not included... Yikes!!! Maybe I should have done more homework on AC manufactures/reliability???? Lance had some good advice for the next time we notice the compressor making strange noises record what its doing so the tech will know what is going on with the unit and they would drop the service call to $49 well at-least its a compromise.
I guess  I'm just old school when it comes to standing behind your product

First why I gave them a five star rating???
Bottom line ALL AC companies are up-selling their service plans
Second Alex and Arron or doing their jobs.....
Third Lance cared enough to give a call back!!! and no sales pitch straight facts.......Food for thought.....

I called champion AC and asked what a AC check up would run the lady told me it would be 88 dollars I new I would need Freon so I asked her how much the Freon would be she told me she couldn't give me a
Price the tech would once he is out there. That should have thru red flag up but I thought well they took care of me a couple of years ago so I figured why not !! Well after the tech checked everything he said it was low on Freon when I asked how much it would run he said that it was 398.00 for up to 6 lbs if it needed more it was another 398.00 dollars even if it took 1 more pound plus the service call I thought that is ridiculous when a 25 pound can of r410 runs around 150.00 my problem is why can't they be up front instead of having you already have the tech here with a 88.00 service charge now what do you do spend another service charge to have some one else come out? I will never use this company again I feel like that is shady business   No recommendation for champion ac.

I made the decision to replace my older Trane Heat Pump and air handler this year, read the reviews for Champion and called them.  Met with Michael on several occasions to take heat exchange measurements for recommended tonage of new unit. I never felt pressured, in fact I had to call him a few times to get the deal moving toward a quote with the size unit I wanted. Took a few months to get to a purchase of a 5 ton unit but I wasn't in a hurry and no one pressured me.  I have had an issue with insufficient air to master bedroom due to only having one air register and Mike recommended a solution that was less expensive than changing out all the attic ducts and plenum (which would have been $10K), his solution cost me $1,5K).  On installation day early and on-time, the crew showed up and I immediately showed them around and where I was locking up the dogs in the laundry room so they would be out of the way.  Also told them I live on a corner lot, have had grab and run theft of tools in my garage so not to leave the garage door open unattended.  Before I even left for work, I observed the garage door open and no one in sight.  Gave them the same request again after a few minutes when one of the employees finally came back to the front of the house from the back yard.  He told me they could not keep the door closed!  So that was a fail.  I told them if anything was stolen from the garage I would expect that Champion would be responsible for it.  Inside the house, I overheard them say that they did not have enough drop cloths in their truck for the floor, so that was a fail. I am in process of replacing my flooring anyway except for the new tile by the Air Handler closet so did not worry too much as long as that new tile was protected. Had to call Michael twice because of the garage door issue and then asked them where the old cement/foam pad  that was under the old heat pump was placed, it was not set aside like Mike and I agreed so either he did not tell them or they did not listen. I had also asked Mike to make sure that the electronic Honeywell Thermostat that was on the old system would be left for me (it would not work with my new variable stage system) because it was a rather expensive thermostat and I could give it to one of my children for their home.  It disappeared  despite my request, and I noticed that it was not left for me and called Mike that same evening after the crew left--so could have easily asked the installers what happened to it and to bring it back to me (it was not even 30 minutes after the crew left that I noticed it was missing).  Surely the $220.00 thermostat that worked perfectly was not thrown away?  So that was a fail. I called Mike back the next day and he said no one 'fessed up to taking it! I really feel that if a company removes a perfectly functional piece of equipment, they should ask the client whether they want it back as it may have some value to the client.
Then I noticed that the wood sill under the door to the air handler was seriously scratched up and really filthy, and would require sanding and repainting entirely.  I was also told that the hole that was preexisting in the sheet rock inside the air handler closet would be completely repaired with a rebuilt interior closet.  However, the old sheet rock hole (from a prior AC company replacement of the breaker box inside the closet and poor workmanship leaving a gaping hole in the upper wall so hot air from the attic got in) was merely taped over with silver foil tape, not what I was told by Mike--that the closet would be completely rebuilt and air tight.  Perhaps that was a misunderstanding of what he meant, but taping over the hole was not what I expected. The A/C works well, and I was given 2 extra air filters for the air handler so that was very nice as the house is being renovated and a lot of dust is being generated from demolition.  It could have been a much more pleasant installation experience for me, but I am particular (and make that well-known).  I would have put all my verbal requests in writing with a response from the company had I known that my expectations were not being noted.  Also I think that the sales person that handles all the pre-installation contacts should show up on installation day to go over everything with the customer and the crew because I felt like I was on my own with the crew that got rather hostile towards me when I mentioned anything that they deemed bossy like making sure the garage door was not left open and unattended, etc. Then the foreman got edgy with me when I called Mike to complain as I felt that they were ignoring my request and Mike called him! I really did not appreciate being talked down to. That conversation was so awkward and uncomfortable for me to go through and then I had to leave for work wondering how secure my house was. Maybe they were just having a bad day.  From reading the prior reviews, others did not have the same experience at install that I did.

Had two old AC units that were no longer working and needed to be replaced as well as wiring updated. We were able to schedule our service promptly within 2 days of request (even came on a Saturday for no extra charge), and sent two teams to each work on an unit so could complete all of the work within one day. Tim Britt offered very competitive pricing and added perks once we limited our choices to two companies, making Champion AC the best choice to go with for our major AC purchase.

We had one minor problem with one unit that affected the cooling, and they were very prompt to return to correctly resolve the situation. In all, we were very pleased with the service, and have been happy with our new AC units.

This company from the get go was fantastic. They were actually referred to me from competition. Had a complete system installed after another well known company blew my compressor when it was working when they got there. Had no a/c for 4 days. The other company then tried to charge me $4100 to replace the compressor they blew. Story too long on the other company to put here.
Champion is veteran owned and run. Very professional. The employees very respectful. Can't say enough about these guys, but great job!

Just had an ac and furnace replaced by Champion. They immediately sent out a customer rep to see what was the matter with my system. It was 5 1/2 yrs old but had been failing area by area over the previous two yrs. Two companies told me it was improperly designed and installed. Cody from Champion gave my system a thorough eval over two hrs. He gave me multiple options from bandaid fix to replacement. Due to continued failure of the system I elected total new system with a bumper to bumper ten year warranty. The installation crew led by Justin were fast, efficient, professional and answered all our questions and fixed every small detail we requested. Total job done in two days. Great job and great installation.

BEWARE!!!

If I could give negative stars, I would...

Champion AC is a horrible company to use. Aaron was rude, confrontational and condescending on his visit to my home today. On his initial visit to my home over a year ago, he told me that since my unit was electric it would never produce the heat needed to warm my home to overcome a San Antonio winter (I lived in Dallas for over 16 years...with an electric unit...much harsher winters...and was never told this or ever had an issue with air/heat).  My unit was installed in 2016 and has never worked properly since installation. On my consultation, I informed the rep of what was needed and was assured I would have all issues resolved. That was not the case. The unit wasn't even installed with all the parts working and they had to come back. When I advised of what I stated I needed during my consult, I was informed that I would need my whole duct work revamped and was given a ballpark figure of a cost that was in the thousands this was never expressed during the consult and, as stated before, the rep told me everything would be done asked and all issues resolved with the install...deceptive practices. 6 months after the unit was installed there was no coolant and I was informed that this shouldn't happen but then also told they would need to come and recharge it every 6 months to locate the leak and, ultimately, fix the problem...at a cost to me of over $300.00 each time it was recharged. WHO DOES THAT?!? On another visit in January I was having an issue and was told I needed a UV light and air filtration system to help alleviate the issue at a cost of approximately $3,000.00 on that visit. Today, Aaron was my tech again and displayed the true spirit of Champion AC with his rude behavior. I never wanted to go with them to begin with, but my dad was swayed by the Veterans' discount and thought they would do right since they are owned by a Veteran...NOT. After over $9,000.00 out of pocket to them,  my system still sucks. Take your money elsewhere to a company that cherishes and appreciates the business from patrons that actually keep them in business...don't give it to these guys. They do nothing but keep their hands out for more...after his rude behavior, Aaron chose to leave because I asked him not to be rude or confrontational to me. He left my attic, gate and vent open without securing anything...walked off like a little boy being teased on the playground. Luckily, I was on the phone with another party during this visit and they were able to hear the whole situation. I spoke to the manager, Lance after the visit and basically received the same sentiment from him even though he was trying to help.  They all stick together and don't care about the customer. Don't waste your time or your hard earned money on this company

I called another company that will make an emergency visit to my home tonight (it's 90 degrees in my home and has been like this for over 2 weeks) for $89.95 to do the same work that they said needed to be done and were charging $197.00 for.

This company tried to scam us! We called them to look at our a.c. that was not working. First off, the technician lied to us when he called to check the warranty on our a.c. and told us that it had expired. The company that we got the second opinion from told us that we actually still had 2 months left! Champion A.C. quoted us $3800 to replace the motor and clean the mold out of the unit. They offered us financing at $50/month which we almost accepted but we decided to get a second opinion. Thankfully we did and only ended up paying $300 with the other company. They basically tried to rob us. Never calling Champion A.C. again!

Our heat pump wasn't blowing any air so we called Champion to see what they could do.
Pros: Tech came within hours quoted, service call was only $19
Cons: We called for a technician and I feel like we ended up with a salesman.  The tech had a bit of an attitude and after looking at it said he didn't know where to start.  He diagnosed it as a broken air drive and wrote up a whole host of other issues that needed to be resolved.  Of course the premium plus recommendation was a new unit, but his bandaid fix suggestion of the very least we could do was $1,200 just to get it running again.  Regardless, there wasn't anything he could do for us that evening so we spent the night in the cold and called another company that a friend recommended today.
Within 10 minutes, the other guy diagnosed it as a bad/bloated capacitor and swapped out the $40 part in another 20 minutes for $165 total.

Sorry Champion, but I think I'll skip the sales pitch and take a warm house for 1/10th of the price... especially when the temp is supposed to dip down around 20°.

Had an UV light installed in my HVAC. Initially, Deron Hock came in to service the unit.  He showed me the mold growth, and gave me 3 options on how to take care of the mold.  After doing some research, I've decided to get just the UV light for now.  Deron came in and it took him about 15 minutes. He showed me where in the unit it's being installed and the dangers of the light.

Highly recommend!!! My husband just pcs'd to a different state and of course the AC unit completely breaks down. I have 4 dogs and a cat that needed it fixed ASAP. I called Elmer's and was quoted $8200. I was desperate and agreed, only to find out that I was pretty much taken advantage of. A friend of mine recommended Champion Ac and they were able to come out and quote me $6200 to replace my have system and even install a new airflow duct at no additional price. Everything with Jason was cut and dry and he didn't try to take advantage of me and even supplied me with 2 portable ac units to keep the house cool until they are able to install the new system! Thank you so much Jason for taking the time to make this process smooth!

Main points: Crappy service, scare tactics, check/inspect does not = tune-up

If I could give 0 stars, I would... I had Champion AC come out for their 17 point tune-up. What a load of crap! the 17-point A/C tune-up includes:

Check refrigerant level
Inspect Condenser Fan Motor
Check contactor points
Clean/Replace standard air filter
Check squirrel cage
Check Thermostat for proper calibration
Check low voltage wiring
Check disconnect box
Conduct full energy audit of A/C system
Check Compressor
Tighten all electrical connections
Inspect condenser coil
Check evaporator fan motor
Check temperature drop at coil
Check fan relay
Inspect plenum
Check breakers

So basically it's a Check-up or an inspection, a tune up implies that you will make it run better. The guy was very rude and very late. and he came back saying that I needed over $8000 of repairs. Then I had my friend who used to fix A/C's for a living look at it, he said not only were most of the suggested repairs not as important as the AC guy was trying to make them sound, but the one thing that he saw that might be an issue wasn't even on the list of repairs. I will not be using them again! I'm just glad I didnt pay full price, I feel cheated enough as it is.

We used Champions because they were located in Helotes at the time. Unfortunately we have been disappointed with the work they did for us. After purchasing an entire new a/c system we had problems almost from day one, they had to return several times to diagnose a leaking problem with the indoor unit. Finally they admitted that the tech made mistakes with the installation but he no longer worked for the company , but even after some minor work we continued to have a leak somewhere to the point it damaged the ceiling. I gave up and decided to use a different company, who within minutes found the issue, questioned the installation method and corrected the problem. Bottom line don't be fooled by slick websites or fancy service vehicles, take your time do some research and use this company at your own risk!

we dismissed two local ac companies and called Champion from the tv ads. This turned out to be the very best decision I've made in a very long time. From the first contact everyone involved in changing out our ac unit exceeded our expectations. Scheduled service the following day and everything went as planned and that was when things really impressed us. The two installers went beyond being professional and just doing their job. Polite, courteous, extremely knowledgeable these guys could teach a class to other installers on how to run an ac company. After finishing they took time to point out potential problems and even fixed them before leaving. Who provides this kind of service anymore? I would suffer thru a heat wave to reschedule these same guys before calling anyone else. Thank you : Eduardo / Roque and everyone else involved with Champion AC. Louis Heintschel

Champion was quick to schedule a service call and the consult price was low, at $49. However, when we were advised to get a new unit at almost $8k or do a band-aid fix of over $3k we were hesitant. Our current unit is not old, combined with the fact the unit is working it is just not as powerful as before-these things made us to get two more opinions. After two (free btw) service calls from other large companies it was confirmed we only needed freon, and they found an electrical problem with the breaker box (which could have started a fire btw and was not something Champion made us aware of). Neither company saw the same problems that Champion quoted as over $3k band-aid fixes or need for an $8k ac. These two fixes combined were still more than $2k less than our band-aid quote from Champion. We did those fixes with one of the other companies and we are running strong now. Unfortunately we will not be giving Champion our business in the future as I sincerely feel, and had it confirmed, we were trying to be up-sold into replacing a working less than 10 year old A/C unit.

Had a service technician named Gerald come out and examine our furnace unit within 2 hours of calling for an appointment at 8 am.  Our furnace was not blowing air and Gerald diagnosed the problem as a bad blower motor and offered to replace it.  He called his office to put a quote together and came back with 4 options:

Option 1:  Replace motor and module $1278 w/ 1 year warranty
Option 2:  Replace furnace $3219 w/ 10 year warranty
Option 3:  Replace complete system (13 seer) $6478 w/10 year warranty
Option 4:  Replace complete system (15 seer) $9189 w/ 12 year warranty

I requested a broken down price for Option 1 for parts & labor.  Gerald said that he could not give me a quote broken out that way since that is how he receives it from his office.

I paid the $19.00 service fee and am examining other service providers.

I was really disappointed that I could not get a price quote broken down to show me what I would be paying for.

Regardless, the response from Champion AC was prompt and courteous, but I do not feel comfortable not knowing what exactly I'm paying for.

Worst Customer Service Ever/Poor Follow Through
I purchased an AC unit with new air ducts and added attic insulation to earn the CPS rebates from Champion AC back in May.  It is now October 26th and I am still having to contact them to do their job.  On October 9th I contacted CPS to find out when I would start to see the CPS rebate credit on my bill, they informed me that Champion AC had not submitted any of the paperwork.  On October 12th, I contacted Champion AC and spoke to the GM who apologized for the mistake.  His reason for my information not getting to CPS was that it fell through the cracks but assured me that he personally was going to take care of it.  It hasn't, I received a letter from CPS stating that my request for the rebate was on hold due to missing information on the worksheet.  Total nightmare dealing with the clowns at Champion AC and good luck trying to get a hold of someone when you call because the operator will tell you that they are unavailable, in a meeting or will call you right back.  You will need to keep calling them to get your answers.  I feel like I've been robbed and cheated by this company.  I will never recommend this company to anyone.  Champion AC deserves ZERO Stars or Negative One Star for the worst customer service ever.

Champion AC is AMAZING!  I haven't experienced customer service like they deliver in years!  Staff was super nice and courteous.  The technicians were knowledgable.  I can't say enough positive things about them and their work quality and work ethics!  They called to let me know they were on the way, walked me through the repair and timeline and kept to is and as well as the estimate they gave me.  It was so refreshing to have service like this in todays world!

Scare tactics! I feel this company tries to prey on women, thinking they will just pay whatever it takes to fix the issue! Very unprofessional gentleman comes to my house and I clearly explain I have one room that will not cool and he states I need an entire duct system replaced for $3200.00-$3500.00, when I explain that if that were the case I would think my CPS bill would be over $100.00 he says it's about comfort not your CPS bill. UH What? So I explain that I'm not that worried about one room being comfortable since it's a guest room and he tells me he will take another look around, he goes back in the attic and says we can fix just that part for $1200.00. So I ask him for both quotes on paper because I'm shopping around and he says he is going to outside and talk to his boss to see what they can do for me, he comes back and says they will need to do a test for $495 and refuses to give me a quote on paper, I'm sure he did this so they cannot be reported to BBB. Champion Air uses predatory practices if not fraud and deceptive trade practices to try to induce you to do business with them. This company is not only disrespectful but a total sham.

Horrible service came out to fix one thing which was very over priced and they messed with my water heater also... One guy said they would come out and check on it since I hadn't had hot water shortly after them being here..and a lady operations manager called me back and said that's not an ac problem..and all it was is that he turned my breaker off which I'm sure was an accident but they weren't willing to fix it. And she was rude over the phone and said actually I don't have to send my guy out after one guy told me yes we'll send him right out.

Still with Champion AC, since my last review our system has been replaced, both the inside and outside units, it was expensive, but had to be done. I choose to get the work done thru them because they have always taken good care of us and I have never felt taken advantage of. Today was my summer maintenance from tech Johnny. He was on time and courteous, he took his time and answered all of my questions. He ended up having to replace a part on the outdoor unit that was covered by the warranty. Renewed my yearly maintenance contract with them too, overall very happy with Champion. They hire great techs, always kind and courteous which is very important to me.

I started this review last summer after having our air conditioner go out in the middle of July.  At that point I had 5 stars coupled with this review and a brand new $10,000 Trane system installed...now a just a year later after  having to spend thousands more this year I am singing a different tune and giving out a few less stars.

After coming home from a wonderful month of vacation, I had to make a call to Champion to let them know when we set the AC to 72, we were only getting 78.  They came out and took a look at everything and then we learned...Apparently, the only thing that doesn't come with a new system is the copper line - they leave the original during a new system installation.  I'm not an AC expert,  but maybe that should have been mentioned a year ago. It doesn't sit well with me that today they are telling me that it is rotted through, but last year as it was 10 years old, it looked shiny as a button?!?!  So now we are spending $2,000 just a year later to replace it all.  It's just not the way I expected a 5 star business to handle their customers.

**Update: Currently working with one of the owners to resolve issue.  They contacted me immediately after this review and wanted to turn my frown upside down.  Will revise post completion of latest repair.

Before I start with my review I want to say that I'm no AC expert and I do not have much knowledge about air conditioning.  My review is not about their repair service but their diagnostic service which is what they do first before they start repairs.

I came upon Champion AC through Yelp and with the current reviews I had the impression that they have a really good service.  And knowing that their diagnostic service was $89.00 which is quite pricey compared to the other AC service companies in the area but I assumed that they would do a thorough and good job upon diagnostic.  Now that $89 will get refunded if you have them do the repair for you but if you want to get a second opinion this is still pricey.

The technician that came by is the lead technician and he looked at my AC unit in-house for a few minutes and then look at the outside unit for a few more minutes.  Overall I want to say he spent a total of 10-15 minutes inspecting.  I was nearby and didn't see him inspecting the units thoroughly which disappointed me because all of the past AC technicians that we have come look at our AC have done a great job at it.

Now at the end he quoted me $2000 to replace the e-coil and T.X.V.  This price was mind boggling to me.  I asked him what's wrong with it and now I don't remember exactly what he said but his explanation was based on assumptions from what I was understanding because everything else was fine.

Diagnostics based on assumptions... This was what really upset me, I did not made that clear to the technician but I was definitely going to get a second opinion.  And so he left charging me $89.00 and said to call him if I want to do the repair.

Before he left he told me to turn off the AC because it's not cooling, and so I did.  Me and my family spent several hours in the heat.  I was going to call another tech but it was late so I was going to do it the next day.  In the meantime my friend instructed me to see if I can get the AC to work again by just replacing the filter with a cheap breathable filter (note our current filter was not that old but it was an expensive filter that probably isn't very breathable) and then turn it on.

And to my surprise the AC starts working as normal overnight and a few days later to the date of this review.

All I have to say about the service that this company gave me is that I felt more ripped off than spending $100 for 10 minutes with the doctor.  At least I get better after a doctors visit.

Spoke to Ross about what had happened and he made our bad champion experience into a good one after all! He is the installation manager I think but he came out on Monday and completed the job himself. I was extremely appreciative of this and his dedication and willingness to make a wrong a right was amazing! He really made a champion customer out of us! 5 stars for Ross :-)

I am writing this review to express my disappointment with Champion's All-Star Club membership.  For $169.00 Champion AC will conduct two visits, one in the spring to perform a system tune up on the air conditioner and one in the fall to perform a tune up on the furnace.  The spring tune up went fine--no issues.  The fall tune up, however, got very expensive.  Our furnace had worked perfectly well for the four (+) years we have lived here.  The Champion technician, however, said the blower capacitor was not putting out the proper voltage and recommended that it be replaced.  My wife, not knowing what a capacitor was, approved the replacement.  The bill to replace the $5 to $10 part (online research) was $219.00.  Remember, the service call was paid for.  I believe the charge to replace the alleged defective capacitor was excessive.  I will not be using Champion AC in the future.

I installed a 7k unit in my home nearly two years ago. Since then all I have had is PROBLEMS. First, the unit was not installed correctly in that the drainage system was not hooked up at AT ALL. This caused a significant leak that started on the second floor and then finalized in a one meter water filled water balloon on the floor of the first floor. Yes, the leak went through the entire underflooring. They finally did repair the damage they caused, only after my wife threatened to call the BBB. We had bought the insurance plan they offer.
NOW for Chapter Two!

We had the CPS energy savers Home Energy Assessment(We strongly recommend it). We came this way to find out that the electrical part of the system had also been improperly connected. Somehow the technician figured out a way to engage the AC unit, even when the system is heating. The net result is an AC unit that is always on- even when the heater is on. Extra high power bills? You bet.
I called two weeks ago and left a message without a call back. So far I have been on hold for 25 minutes(!!!) after letting the front office person know I had a complaint about the installation( Now thats customer service)I guess they were waiting for me to hang up.
Will let you know how this turns out....

Do NOT sign up with them just to save money on their $15.00 a month insurance because the won't fix the air as soon as you call them. I had to cancel after I ask for a refund because they charged me twice and a lady named pj said to me come on is only 15 dollars if you do sign up I would double check that they are not over charging me. As in for the check ups they do for free two guys came in said ok everything is fine the air is cold and left!!! They didn't even ask me where the unit was.

OK, so advertising really works.  It works even better when the product is as good or better than advertised.  After seeing a coupon on the back of my grocery receipt, I used these guys before the summer heat really took over for an inspection.  The tech did a thorough job of explaining to me everything he was doing and answered a lot of my questions about why some rooms were warmer than others.  His recommendations convinced me to stay with them and have them come out and do a more thorough analysis of my A/C distribution and it really opened my eyes to how my system really worked.  After a bit of tweaking, my system seems to be running better than ever and all the rooms are getting plenty of cool air.

I will definitely stick with these guys for the long haul.

I had them come out for an estimate on AC installation. The first thing the guy asked was what other offers I received. Red flag right there. He went on to talk about ducting and how they use the best. He then asked what my price range was. He said he had nothing in that range and everything started at 14k. I asked about the promotion on their website for an AC installed for 5k. He said that was not for new installation. He then said I should have mentioned that to the dispatcher so he didn't waste his time coming out. Then he left. He did not even try to sell us on their AC system or why it was worth it. He was unprofessional and the worst sells man I have ever met.

I have used Champion for several years for my HVAC equipment. I have an older home with 4 units.  Whenever I have an issue I know I can depend on a professional technician to arrive at the agreed time, diagnosis the problem and discuss my options. My repairs were done right at a reasonable price including a follow up call a few day later. The technicians were also extremely knowledgeable with regards to installing and setting up smart thermostats throughout my home which have saved me hundreds in energy savings.

I've found an electric company I feel comfortable with.  Starting with the quote. The quote came without a trip charge. Other companies I called required me to pay for a quote. Those companies lost my business. Even though the first day they came out late, I  immediately understood how this happened. Not just because they told me they had a difficult job before mine that required extra manpower but because we're in a heat wave and ACs are being over worked and a must. But they still came out and worked in the dusk in the thick of mosquito time. They had to come back bc one of the fans had to be returned. On the second visit they completed the job which involved 2 outside outlets. 2 motion detectors, and 2 complex fan installed. Reuben and Fabian were great. They made sure the fans worked. They had the fans working. The light company's electricians  from where I bought the fans, didn't know how to make the fans work given my set up. They suggested I go to an electrical company for installation of a 3rd light switch. Ruben and Fabian saved me 100s even after I told them what the light company's electrician said. My fans are installed without that third switch, and the work great. On top of everything, Champion gave me a military discount.

Today, March 24, 2012, Champion AC's owner, Tony, and one of their technicians, Dave, took the time to come out and review the work that I recently reported to BBB.  I can honestly say that I wish that this experience had been my first experience with the company.  Both the owner and the technician were extremely pleasant to work with, and provided excellent customer service.

Both gentlemen went above and beyond the call of duty by inspecting the original unit, performing minor work on the unit, and taking the time to educate me on the various components and operation of the unit.

Upon inspection of the unit, they did not find any microbial growth as their previous technician had and so they labeled my previous visit a 'misdiagnosis'.  The owner sincerely apologized and offered a refund of the previous work that had been done in September since that service was conducted improperly.

All-in-all, it has become quite apparent to me that I verbally punished an entire company for the misgivings of one individual.  After this visit, it has become further apparent to me that Champion AC does conduct itself responsibly, respectfully, and professionally.  It is unfortunate that the actions of the representative that came to my home in September brought us to this point; but at the same token, this has both been beneficial for me and for them.

I say this because for me, I was given the proper and exceptional customer service that all customers deserve.  For them, they are able to identify the areas of their business that may have room for improvement.  Despite the harsh wording I used to describe my previous encounter with Champion AC, Tony (the owner) and Dave (the technician) proved to me that Champion is a reputable company, and that everyone should feel comfortable with them in their home.

Personally, however--and as one final note/recommendation --I would request Dave as your technician.  He was fantastic.  He educated me on the various components and processes of my unit, made professional recommendations, and conducted himself in a manner that left me feeling great and completely satisfied.

Finally, to recap, I would like everyone to know that in conclusion, I fully recommend Champion AC because they genuinely care about their customers, and take the time to make things right.

When our AC went out in the middle of a sweltering South Texas day, we called our home warranty company who sent one of their AC companies to visit us. The diagnosis the home warranty's company provided didn't seem correct or reasonable to us so, on our own, we called Champion AC for a second opinion.

Not only did Champion AC get to our home quickly, but they also diagnosed the problem (accurately!) and helped us with a temporary fix to cool our home off until we could contact the home warranty company for the proper repair.

Champion AC saved the day! I will always recommend them to family and friends for fast, friendly, knowledgeable and accurate service. And I love that they're on Twitter too for quick chats!

Champion AC was by far the best company we have worked with to date.  My family has special considerations such as asthma, allergies, etc and Champion helped us choose the best system to cater to our needs based on our budget.  They were very courteous, knowledgeable, and extremely professional.  Their installation service was fast and efficient.  The technicians also educated us on the intricacies of the system and the best way to maintain them.  They were even kind enough to answer our 7 year old son's questions.  I will recommend this service to all my friends and family

Champion AC is knowledgeable, honest, and hard working. They provide great quality and good prices.

We had two other companies check out our AC system prior to Champion AC coming out. Both other companies quoted us much higher prices, with one of them telling us we NEEDED expensive, high end equipment, even though we explained we were on a very strict budget.

I didn't tell Champion AC that we already had two quotes, and they were a third opinion. Champion AC's quote was almost half of the first company's quote. I asked Champion about the other, expensive equipment that the first company said we must have, and Champion's technician patiently explained why that equipment was not needed. Thankfully, we decided to go with Champion AC.

The men who did the work were polite, professional, and finished in a timely manner. We are extremely pleased with the job they did and enthusiastically endorse Champion AC for your AC needs.

Thank you Champion AC,

Professional service, accurate and quick installation and great customer service. Our unit was 11+ years old; and after years of working with HVAC companies who send only salesmen to repair jobs, it was a nice experience speaking with a technician who could provide repair and replace options that didn't feel like I was being sold and then upsold. We are very pleased with the new system and plan to stay Champion AC customers!

My husband and I researched a few different A/C companies and even had a couple of companies come out to our home to give us a quote, however some of the companies were too pushy and their salesmen tried to get us to buy A/C packages that we did not need, however from the receptionist to the installation technicians, Champion A/C company were professional, courteous, punctual and sincere. We even received a thank you gift box with a selection of goodies as a token of their appreciation. I read thru some of the reviews here, some say a 89$ service charge to come out however each time they have come to my house it was a $39 diagnostic charge.

They came and fixed my AC and came on a sunday day before a holiday. that on its own was great. There technician was friendly and got the job done. I got a great discount, might I add MILITARY DISCOUNT I would recommend them anytime and Jim was the tech that came out and was very friendly and goes above and beyond to get the job done.

I called this company to have preventative maintenance done and set up the appointment.  The lady on the phone indicated it would be 99 dollars for a tune up.  The Tech shows up and climbs in the attic to find I have two units.  He tells me that it is 99 for each unit.  The lady on the phone did not indicate that.  He said which one do you want me to look at and I just said both.  Then the tech was at my house for approximately 45 minutes to an hour.  He never checked my air filters and just provided me with an estimate to fix things that totaled 5500.  He did not explain the unit assessment very well except the color scheme. I ran my report by my BIL who runs an AC company in LA. He said the report was weird since the indicators reflected I was low on Freon.  I called and spoke with the service manager and told him the story.  He said he would check the report and call me back.  He never did.  I called him and left a message.  He still did not call me back.  This is a veteran owned company and I am a vet.  This was the worst experience I have ever had.

I am only giving 1 star because there is not a lower number available.  I resent Champion using scare tactics to try to sell unnecessary repairs.  Had I done what was recommended my $39.00 special heating tune up would have been indeed special....to the tune of over $1300.00.  Upon review of an authorized contractor from American Home Shield the unit was found to be in perfect working order in need of no repairs.

Last February on probably the coldest night of the year I came home from work to find my heater was not working. Since it was 1AM there wasn't much I could do except throw every blanket I own on the bed and call in the morning. I Googled repair companies looking for someone who would come out as quickly as possible. I tried one or two other before Champion and spoke with a young woman explaining my issue. By this time it was about 10AM and I had to leave for work by 3PM so time was of the essence. She told me she could probably have someone come out by 130 or 2 but I felt that was cutting it too close so she said she'd check and call me back. She called within about 10 minutes and said a technician would be on his way within the hour and would call to let me know when he was coming. Sure enough Shawn called with about 15 minutes and said he was nearby. He arrived less than 10 minutes later- it was now just after 11AM! He took one look at my 19 year old unit and knew exactly what was wrong. He went to his truck, got the part and replaced it, the whole visit taking about 1 1/2 hours. Another company had recommended replacing the unit because it was too small. Shawn said the exact opposite and suggested having the ducts checked if there were cold/hot spots. He didn't try to sell me anything, just made the repair as needed. He did a thorough inspection of the unit and pronounced it sound. I was very pleased and purchased the maintenance agreement. A semi annual check last month corrected another small problem and it's been running great. Many thanks to Shawn and Jon and the team at Champion AC.

We recently had a 20 point check done for the first time in 3 years and found out we had a HORRENDOUS mold problem. We got estimates from 4 places and Jaime sold us. Not only was the price better his customer service was the BEST. One of the other companies was trying to up our tonage and add a bunch of other stuff we did not need. He was not trying to talk in language we didn't understand since we have no idea about ac stuff or trying to push stuff on us. He made everything plain and clear and was VERY friendly. The installers came out today at 9 am and it took them 5 hours to get it all done. They were both VERY polite and talked to us every step of the way answering all questions we had. We can already tell a huge difference in our unit and how it cools the house. Thank ALL you guys for a hassle free and painless experience. We will be recommending you to everyone we know and you have our business from here on out!

A month ago we had problems with an old ac screaming at random times.. sort of like a cricket on steroids... anyway, did a lot of research on Google and Champion along with one other company had the most stars and good reviews. We decided on Champion, called them and the tech/salesman came promptly when the appointment time came. We knew the system was old, at least 15 yrs and knew it was time to replace it along with new duct system when we found they no longer install the box kind of duct work and ours was wasting energy.. All in all around 15k. On a Monday they sent out Jose' and Jacob to take out the old HAVC system and install a new one..
The sales guy/tech had said they would take it out the first day, have the guy that maps out the duct work come and do his job, and the second day the new duct work and new system would be installed (99 degree days). The tech/salesman that came out was really nice, but missed a few things, like the old indoor unit sat differently than the new one would, which presented a huge problem with the box leading into the ceiling/attic... long story short, these two awesome installers Jose' and Jacob (honestly, I wish all techs were this good, this honest,  and this conscientious!) stayed until late in the evening trying to get it all worked out so we could run the ac and keep cool and replace the ducts the next day, but found it was going to have to go the next day, too. They had someone come out with portable ac units to keep the house as cool as possible that night and the next day.. The duct mapping had to be put off a day due to a family emergency, but they let us know.
They worked tirelessly in the heat, and in the attic heat, were friendly to our old dog that liked to supervise, and treated the install as if it were going in their own home. We can not say enough about how great Jose' and Jacob were.. their honesty, friendliness,  and care with what they were doing impressed us the most! The sales guy/tech failed to let us know there was a package deal with the system and blown insulation. We knew the insulation was thin in the attic, around 2 inches or so (30 yr old home), so once we found out about the deal, we got the insulation as well. The guys that came out to do that were just as careful and efficient as the installers, and all cleaned as they went and when they were done, and the quality control guy Ralph, who came out to inspect the work, was very professional and courteous as well! They had sent out Tim, a pleasant and knowledgeable guy a few days after the install to check out how efficiently the air was moving (he had an air flow meter box thing) and helped us figure out how much of the insulation we would need, which turned out to be less than we all thought was needed, so saved some money there. which he thought would be 11-13 bags, they used 9, and my understanding is we paid the price we were quoted for the 11.
The only draw back we had was a delay in getting one large old vent hole (moved the new to a different area) in the wall and two small holes (changing from one sized vent to a different sized vent) in the ceiling fixed by almost a month. That was a bit ridiculous, and having to call & msg often to remind them that it still wasn't fixed was irritating. Jose' and Jacob had thought ahead and used a piece of insulation to block the attic heat from entering the house, so heat wasn't much of a problem, but waiting almost a month was. Miscommunication perhaps, but Robert finally came out to repair the holes (and did a great job repairing, taping and painting!!) and said he hadn't received the order until recently, so someone dropped the ball somewhere along the line. I admit I felt sort of like they had gotten their money and weren't in much of rush anymore to totally finish the job.. but it's finally done, and you can't tell where the hole used to be!
If I had to do it again I pehaps would, especially with the install guys we had. I have to say though, if it weren't for their honesty during all of it, I would reconsider. Also, I would know that sales are important, maybe a bit too important, and perhaps they could be a bit more honest up front.. like if you know it's going to take 3 days, but say 2, just say three, less of a shock down the road.. but still a great job all in all! No worries for another decade.. if anything messes up, we purchased a warranty and it will be fixed asap & no charge!
We were asked four to five times to make sure and leave a review, so like it or not, this is it.
*edit*  Having trouble getting help with issues that were supposed to have been taken care of over a month ago. They also told us that the electric bill would be MUCH less than the last bill with the old unit/duct work.. it was only 20 bucks less.

Told me I needed a new system on one of my AC's that was cutting out on me.  Replaced my Carrier with an Amana unit.  Never told me that my other one was still under warranty, and knew it.  When I found out, they gave me a partial reimbursement, which I thought was fair.  Started having humidity issues and they came out three times messing with fan speeds, etc.

We then called a competitor and they diagnosed the problem immediately and fixed it at a low price.  When our second AC started to go out on us, we called the other company and they said all we needed was a new motor.  It was the same exact thing that Champion said we needed to replace the entire unit for.

I gave them 2 stars only because the owner was willing to at least give me a partial refund.

The guys at AC Champion have been great. They send me reminders when my AC needs to be serviced so I do not have to keep track. The service men who have been to my house always show up on time, are professional, and explain things so I can understand. I would highly recommend AC Champion if you want to make sure you are cool this summer. Thanks guys.

I am a Champion club member and I was previously very happy with them but during my recent AC crisis the lack of communication from both the main office and the tech has been disappointing.  I called the office twice over the weekend and again on yesterday and still haven't received a call back.  I've asked for a written estimate multiple times so I can compare apples to apples... At this point I think someone else is going to get the 7-10K that Im about to spend on a new system and I doubt I will renew my club membership.

Frusterated...my Carrier AC unit (less than 10 years old) decided to stop functioning on Sunday. 3 months after I had it tuned up by Champion AC.  Technician said everything on my system looked ok and should be fine for the summer.  I had received good service from them so when the AC stopped working...I called them back out. A different tech came out...spent a few minutes looking at the system and then started trying to convince us it needed to be completely replaced...the ENTIRE system. We are miserable. I plan on calling a different company in the morning.

UPDATE: One of the owners called me shortly after posting this review.  He offered to return the money I had spent with them and gave me his name and number in case I should ever have AC issues in the future.  I appreciate a company that is so concerned with their customer's satisfaction.  I understand that every technician can not possibly know EVERYTHING there is to know about AC repair so I believe the prior tech made a mistake.  AC is now working perfectly!

I had an excellent experience using Champion AC.   They were the company I called to give me a second opinion.  What I liked about them is that they did not try to sell me what I didn't need.  They assessed my personal situation and sold me a unit that met my needs and budget.  Their lead technician, Roy and the lead instaler Mando were very professional.  I apprecieted the fact that they called back twice to follow up and make sure I was satisfied.  I would highly recommend them.  @egarcia10126

I recently had to replace my unit and chose champion. I am very happy with my decision. The installation guys (Chris and Jason) were awesome. Very Friendly and informative and they did great work. Ross was also super helpful as well. I was nervous because it's a $$$ purchase. I made my decision based on ratings online. No one I knew had used champion. I will be coming back to champion for my future AC needs and also referring all my friends. Thank you!

Not cool. Immediately started pitching a new system at $5K. No matter what I said he came back to it's an old system and we have a payment plan. I called a friend of a friend and found out the problems they supposedly diagnosed are very fixable. I do wonder if the recommendations would be the same if my husband had been home to deal with them.

Girls, I suggest you stay away from this company.

Honest, dependable, quality work at a fair price...traits not often seen today especially in service companies.  I've been using Champion for several years and have always been satisfied; however, the most recent time when Rene Burralo came out to repair our AC made me decide that as long as Rene is around, I will request him by name.  Rene was the epitome of a hard working professional who gets the job done right the first time and puts in an honest day's work for and honest day's pay.  I highly recommend Rene Burralo and Champion AC!!!

Let me start by saying, we have had a number of BAD experiences with AC companies.  We were really on guard when contacting, yet another, company to fix what had been broken by a number of others.  Champion AC turned everything around.

The office was responsive and professional.  She answered the questions she could and had a tech call us back when we asked things she could not answer.  The tech, Gerald, was at the house within a couple hours of our first call.  He was great!  He quickly identified the problems we had and came up with a plan to get us cooled that day!  The fan we needed was none standard and it took a bit of digging to find one that would work but he was great at keeping us in loop on his search and had the unit up and running that day; JUST AS HE PROMISED!

Gerald did not try to sell us a bunch of stuff we don't need but did let us know where we might see problems in the future so we could start planning.

I could not be more pleased with the service and competence Champion provides and will not call anyone else in the future.

Our experiences with Champion Air have been great. We have two units and over the past two years they have both gone out.   Others told us the warranty was out on the first unit but the Technician decided to check with the company.  He was able to determine that the warranty had been extended on these particular units.  It saved us thousands of dollars.  Then when the next unit went out he already knew what to do. Our service was fast , efficient and the repair people insisted they would clean up .  Everyone we dealt with including office staff and repairmen showed us the utmost courtesy.  If you are looking for the cheapest people in town look somewhere else. If you are looking for the best call Champion.

The service manager came out and did a great job selling the system. The installers came out we thought all was fine. That night it got up to 85 in the upstairs and it was 72 downstairs. I even tried to turn it off at the breaker and it was still running. We called the office and they were able to send someone out to take a look at the system. The guy that came looked all over to figure out why the heat was not turning off. Come to find out that just about every single wire was in the wrong position not only in the furnace unit in the upstairs attic but the two thermostats as well as the outside unit. He was there for over an hour trying to figure out what the installers messed up. He then had to come back the next day to finish up what the installers screwed up. Meanwhile we were told that we would receive several filters within a week of the install. It was been a few weeks now and nothing has happened. We have also never received a follow up call after all the issues or to even check out how things are running. I'm don't think this is needed in every circumstance but after spending $15K on a system it would be nice to know that someone actually cares about their business. The biggest issue I had was that I never received a return call from the guy that sold the units to us - the service manager. I left him 3 messages about how angry I was when the system didn't turn off. I would have a very difficult time recommending Champion A/C to anyone at this point. The only reason why this is not a 1 star review is because of the guy that came out to help us when we needed it. Sorry I cannot think of his name at this time. .

Initially I was very impressed with the response when my AC went out especially when they sent a technician over on a Friday night to adjust the repair since I had a house full of kids for a sleep over birthday party.  However, I found out they left all the old parts in my attic from the technician.  He said they would contact me the next week to remove the items because it wasn't the level of work Champion did.

Well, I never heard from them and I've called several times to report the issue and they've never called back.  So if they do work at your house make sure you take the time to inspect the work area to ensure they remove the old parts.  Don't be fooled with their over concern with sweeping the floor.  I wouldn't recommend them to anyone now.

Back in 2011 I started having issues with my ac/heater in my new home of only 2 years. My husband being a Firefighter of Helotes at the time knew champion was close to us so he wanted to use them. When they came to my home they informed us that the coils on the inside unit were rusted and that the ac/heater we had was junk from the builders putting in cheap units. They informed us that the best thing to do was to just replace the entire unit inside and out to prevent this from happening again. They said it was pointless to replace the coils because it would just happen again and the labor alone was $1100. $4500 later we had a new and supposedly improved unit. Well here we are again with the same issue. So I call and have them come out and wow we have the same problem all over again...so I ask do we need a new unit again? No you don't need a new unit your part is covered under warranty but the labor is $1100. REALLYYY I pay you $4500 for a new unit for the same issue I am having in this unit, then I find out the old unit was a goodman...THEY PUT THE SAME PIECE OF CRAP UNIT IN MY HOUSE AND CHARGED ME $4500...MADE BY THE SAME COMPANY. Did I mention before they came out for this I had contacted them 2 times prior and they came out and added Freon and told me there was nothing wrong with it. I am fuming by now and ask for a manager. Charlie informs me they will cut me a deal of $825. Not good enough so I call a friend of mine Michael Eisenhauer of Cozy Air 210-772-6623. Needless to say Michael tells me he can give me a much better deal and fix all my issues. I contact champion and tell them I will not be using them to fix anything. I get a call back saying they will match the price I was quoted...WHY DIDN'T YOU DO THAT TO BEGIN WITH SINCE I WENT THROUGH Y'ALL ORIGINALLY TO REPLACE THE DAMN THING? So needless to say my original unit didn't need to be replaced...GREAT JOB CHAMPION YOUR GREAT AT RIPPING PEOPLE OFF. I WILL MAKE SURE TO REPOST THIS ANYWHERE AND EVERYWHERE. If you want someone who is honest and trustworthy and will quote you correctly call Michael

I'd like to thank Richard for coming out to give us a second opinion on our Carrier A/C system. We were told by Airtron during our spring tune up that we had a leaking coil and we'd need to replace the whole system since it wouldn't be cost effective to replace just the coil since the unit is 12-13 years old. Richard came by around 8:30 am. He did a whole diagnostic check on air flow versus what the unit was supposed to be putting out. Came back that it was within normal specs. Then he used a leak detector to find the leak at the coil that we were told was there. Come to find out there was no leak at the coil. He asked if he could come back when it was warmer since it was a cool morning to do a I Manifold report on the system and I agreed. He came back on Monday evening and did the I Manifold report by hooking up to the inside upflow unit and outside unit and our system was doing everything within specs. We did not need a new a/c at this time and he was totally honest about that. We appreciate the honesty that Richard displayed and can not thank him or your company enough. Excellent customer service and follow up! Thank you!!!

We have had some air flow issues in our house for quite some time.  I called out Champion A/C on the suggestion of a friend I could not be happier with the result.  The first time they came out, the tech tested by system for issues (inside and out) and told me about the minor issues we had going on that kept us from maximizing our A/C.  He told me exactly what we needed to do (enlarge the plenum) and gave me what I felt was a more than fair quote.  Next step was scheduling the plenum enlargement.  Got a call from Debbie and she could not have been nicer when scheduling the work I needed done.  The one thing that really impressed me was a Saturday installs with no extra charge.  Champion came out on June 4th and enlarged the plenum.  The two installers could not have been nicer or quicker.  They were done inside 90 minutes I believe (if not an hour) and even cleaned up the mess they left.  I checked their work later when the attic cooled down and it looked like a pretty professional job to me (moreso than the existing plenum that had been there).

I didn't have to have major work done but if I did, I would call Champion in a heartbeat.  Of all the service companies I have dealt with in SA the last 10 years, they are hands down the nicest and most professional.

The best part is?  Our bedroom is no longer the hottest room in the house and I can sleep comfortably again.

Champion Air uses predatory practices if not fraud and deceptive trade practices to induce you to do business with it. This company is not only disrespectful but gives fraudulent quote without a paper trail so they cannot be reported. When a company is contacted on a Friday at 7:30 a.m, comes out in the late afternoon, gives you a bogus quote, then sends out a senior tech on Saturday a.m. and gives you allegedly a proper quote, and then says the parts house is closed on Sat and says they cant do anything until Monday, and  Monday comes around and you never hear  from the company you know they are a total fraud. You then find out there were part houses available on Saturday, and they could have fixed it on Saturday, this confirms they are a total fraud. The State of Texas from whom they receive their license should investigate  this company as well as the San Antonio Better Business Bureau. They are trying to obtain your business by use of the good name of the San Antonio Spurs, if the Spurs knew what they were doing, they would cut their ties to this company. Read the review below from another reviewer about the pricing scheme they have. In effect what they are doing is selling you an uninvited non-requested service policy for up to 5- 10 years which can quadruple your initial cost for a simple repair.  Again, the tech who arrives will refuse to write this bid on a document so that you show to your insurance company in order to hide this deceptive conduct. I highly recommend TEXAS AIR MASTERS. They are Veteran owned, impeccably honest and will not try and sell you something that you don't need. Just stay away from Champion. Just because one reviewer liked them because the tech was nice to her dog is not a good reason to like this company, which is the real dog.!

I am very skeptical when calling AC services, since we have been scammed countless times. After calling Champion they had a knowledgeable technician at my door within 40 minutes of my call. Gerald did not try and sell me on numerous things that might be wrong with my system, simply on what was wrong and how they could help me to fix it. The technicians come prepared and my unit was up and running within 20 minutes of arrival. The run around, no scams, simple honest answers and they have amazing prices. When it was all said and done I didn't not feel cheated and was educated on ways I can keep my unit in good condition on my own. Thank you so much for your honesty and promptness in your service,
