Dispatch is friendly and was able to get a technician out quickly, but that's where the service ended. The technician texted me at 3 p.m. with the issue and I texted and called back within the hour. However, he never responded to either text nor phone calls. I called the office to complete the work and was told he had gone home for the day. They could not send out another tech as it was his job. If I wanted him to return to complete the service it would be an additional $150 charge for after hours service although at this point it was ONLY 4 p.m. The dispatch person asked a manager and the answer was the same. I'm a Realtor in the Grapevine area so you can guess who won't be referred going forward. Unbelievable lack of common customer service.
Purchased maintenance agreement. Scheduled an appointment and they never showed or called...
Very disappointed. For three days now we have been trying to get them to come out and service my 83 year old disabled military vet father's ac unit. Dad has used them in the past. We have left messages as well as been told that someone would call us back.
Very disappointed that they would not call back or schedule a appointment for the elderly.
Never again, way over priced! Quoted $3700 to replace the compressor on my upstairs AC unit, or $7000 to replace the compressor unit and condenser or $10,000 to replace everything including the coils in the attic unit. Checked with another large company and was quoted $6000 to replace everything and finally had it done with a company where a friend of mine works for $3600 for everything and he even made some repairs to my main unit, replaced broken support strap and re-sealed the plenum to the AC unit that came loose. I still have an inspection that I have already paid for at Berkeys but I won't call them again.

Don't want to give one star!!!! Just say no to plumbing at Berkeys unless you want a $150 fee to come out on weekends for no service whatsoever! They will gladly apply that to a hugely overpriced bid to replace leaking water heater to bring up to code. No they did not turn off water nor try to do anything besides sell bid that was almost double a competitors price. when I called them back to tell them about how disappointed I was at this they were not interested in discussing nor did a manager return my call. I will not call them again. Interesting they do not give opportunity to review on their site..... except the ones they want to show giving them high marks. Highly recommend using small company as this experience has made me turn off the commercials I see running about how great Berkeys is.....NOT!

On a day that I didn't expect to even need an electrician's services, the unexpected happened at a time we didn't expect, and of all the days that it happened on, it had to happen on a Saturday Night. Due to a freak accident caused by our doorbell camera going offline for 7 hours, it had shorted out areas within the house. Most electricians who are listed online advertise that they are on call on a Saturday night, but I felt like I was dialing for friends with no help in sight. Luckily for me, there was Jeremy Richardson of Berkey's. I never heard of them before, but I'm glad he picked up. He's a straight shooter and came at the exact time promised. After I explained the situation to him, Jeremy explained his process and explained what to expect and what would be involved. He's knowledgeable and efficient while working by taking the time to explain everything as he goes from one step to the next step. Literally, he was in and out within 45 minutes. We were impressed with the level of customer service and work ethic that he displayed. I know that if we ever need another electrician again, Jeremy of Berkey's will be the first person I contact!
Thank You, Jeremy Richardson!

So, we have lived in our home since 2005 and have used Berkeys for the entire time we have lived here. We knew early on they weren't the cheapest, but they did very good work, so we were satisfied and very loyal customers. We had them come out twice each year to service the units.
We have 2 AC units and purchased new units in 2010 and 2011. They were expensive, but they were installed well. We have had Berkeys come out twice each year since to make sure everything is running smoothly. If we had problems with the HVAC or if we had any plumbing issues, we would always call Berkeys. They treated us fairly. Definitely not the cheapest, but we never felt like we were being fleeced. And we trusted them.
So, why only 1 star? For the past year, we have noticed that something definitely has changed with Berkeys. Every time they come out they want to sell us something. And they always remind us how old are systems are getting and how much more work they need to have them run well. They quoted us a ridiculous figure a month ago (March 2020) to clean the ducts. We knew we probably needed the ducts cleaned but felt that the massive quote was excessive, so we called another company to do the cleaning.
Yesterday, we called Berkeys because we noticed that the secondary furnace drain had water coming out and thought that the primary drain was probably clogged. The technician said that they should unclog the drain to the tune of $500. But also told us that we needed more work. They said that our ducts and coils were extremely dirty and needed to be cleaned immediately. I told them that I had just had the ducts cleaned 1 month prior. They accused the other company of doing a poor job. That may be true. Don't really know for sure. The technician said that whoever cleaned our ducts must not have cleaned the coils, but that they clean coils as part of the duct cleaning service. I started checking my bill drawer for the estimate that Berkeys had given us the month prior to see what the previous estimate was. The technician told me that he had the estimate on his iPad. But the funny (not really funny) thing was, the previous Berkeys technician had not included coil cleaning as part of the duct cleaning service. But this technician had just told me, not more than 10 minutes before, that coils were part of the duct cleaning service when he decided to smear the other HVAC company for not cleaning the coils.
Anyway, Berkeys quoted us $4200 to clean the ducts, drums, and coils. The technician could tell I was not too interested, so he spoke to his manager and came down to $3800. Again, the technician must have noticed my hesitation. The final estimate was $3200. I felt like I was in a used car lot with the technician talking to his manager and bringing me new prices each time to try to seal the deal. Berkeys wasted no time to try to run our credit and get us financed immediately.
We felt like we were being massively upsold and decided to call another HVAC company. So glad we did. We called 1st Choice in Fort Worth. They came the same day, even though I hadn't called them until after 5pm. The technician, Randy, unclogged the furnace drain for $150 less than what Berkeys wanted. He said everything else on our systems looked really good, and was on his way.
Berkeys has just lost a long, loyal customer. Berkeys, stop pushing your techs to upsell. That pushing has lost our trust. Will never recommend Berkeys again. Sad.
Issue 1: Wanted to charge me $1,600 to replace a flue pipe when it only need a $15 end cap replacement on the roof.
Issue 2: Wanted to replace my entire furnace when it was unnecessary. Used the bi-annual check up as a way to try to up-sell me on unneeded equipment. I had just bought the house so all was in working order and had been inspected previously and was under home warranty anyway.
Wonderful service, great friendly technician! We were very happy with Berkey's Air Conditioning Service. They explained everything in detail and gave us multiple options for all scenarios. Couldn't ask for more! Thanks for being a great, easy to work with company.
Satisfied customer,

Complete fraud! My parent's bathroom faucet would not change between hot and cold water. Their plumber showed up and told them it would cost over a thousand dollars to fix since they would need to change the plumbing inside the wall. They felt they needed to have it done but decided to call my brother first. He stopped at Home Depot on his lunch break and bought a faucet for under $45. He installed it in less than 30 minutes. Works just fine. This is elder fraud and this company should be shut down.
On time, plumbing problem required call back but not plumber's fault. Back very next day. Very nice guy and knowledgable. Cost was reasonable. Would use them again.

I input a query to Home Advisor on a Saturday afternoon and had a call from Berkeys within a half hour and was offered a service window the same day. (Have you ever tried to get a plumber on a Saturday of the Labor Day long weekend?) The office gave me a call about 30 minutes later to inform me that the technician was on his way. Dewayne arrived about 30 minutes later, quickly identified my problem was three leaks in my irrigation system. He then probed the grass and landscaping until he found the master valve for the irrigation system (when another landscaping irrigation crew had tried for a half day and failed to locate it.) He then isolated the irrigation system and determined that there was a small leak in the system running to my home, but wasn't significant enough to warrant further action. To make a long story short, my problem was much less severe than I had feared and I was charged only for service call of $69. I'll be back to Berkeys for any future plumbing problem I have.
I don't recommend Berkeys at all. Got a quote for a repair for my water heater. I was shocked by the excessive amount and decided to wait for the second plumbing company. The second quote came in and was less than half of Berkeys'. So, as the Berkeys technician claimed, his quite is not the lowest but not the highest. I will say, their price is extremely high!! The second plumbing company did an excellent job in less than an hour, cleaned up and I was a happy camper! With a difference of more than twice the quote, I will know who not to call the next time.

If you need something REPAIRED, don't call Berkey's. They seemingly have no interest in repairing anything. Their solution is ALWAYS to say Oh, you need a new system. Yes, we COULD repair it, but our repair will likely only last X weeks/months, and then you will have wasted the money you spent on a repair. Which very clearly says to me We admit, we don't know HOW to repair stuff, only install stuff.
Now, if you need something new INSTALLED, sure... call them for an install. But be sure to get three other quotes and I'm sure at least two (if not all three) will beat Berkey's price.
Instead of building relationships as a trusted long-term advisor and getting lucrative (profitable) business based on that relationship, Berkey's only knows and thinks about the immediate transaction and how much they can bilk their customers.
I'm giving one star for their very nice phone receptionist. The rest of the organization doesn't even deserve that.
They are the worst company I have ever had to deal with. Their marketing and advertising is extremely misleading. Customer service was rude and unpleasant. Technicians were unprepared. Took me five phone calls to finally talk to a supervisor. The plumber that I scheduled to have come out to clear a clog finally showed up at 1 AM. I had already had to call another company. This company is unreliable unprepared rude. One lie after another. One excuse after another.
If zero stars were possi I'd choose that rating
My furnace went out on a cold Sunday morning. I called Berkeys and they sent a guy out to fix it. He quickly found one issue and left saying he would order a part first thing Monday and come replace. It was 5pm Monday when he arrived - a very curious first thing sort of time. The clown brought a helper and they replaced the part but 3 hours later said it just didn't work they couldn't fix it and we'll have to replace the entire unit. Again, he says he'll get back to me first thing in the morning.... Nothing at all on Tuesday... Not first thing Tuesday, not at all. No call, no nothing. Fucker just gave up, tucked his tail between his legs and ran.
I called a 2nd heating company. That guy found that the Berkeys idiot wired it up wrong and blew a fuse and that's why it wouldn't work. Let me say that again - the Berkeys ass clown wired it up wrong - great expertise - and then ran away to never be seen again
Don't bother calling these idiots. What a colossal waste of time. Go with a company that actually has heating experts instead of trainees that don't understand how shit connects up
Our 20yr+ old a/c quit on the eve of my birthday, it was not the best present. For over 2wks, we dealt with up to 115 degree heat when we begged and called companies. One did not speak English. One made an appointment for 530 and called every 2hrs but never came out by the time we aborted them at 10pm. Others simply did not answer. We finally called Berkey on a Friday per 2 recommendations. The rep was friendly but kept confusing definitions of APPROXIMATE and EXACTLY for our ETA notifications. We later found out that though we both had agreed on a later appointment, she had scheduled an earlier appointment and we started getting reminder calls and texts. When Brian finally made it, though he was not Covid-suited up as their website notes, he had our a/c diagnosed in 3mins tops, and fixed in 10mins. We are NOT complaining. This is what we love and expect because this is how we operate as well. Nothing beats old-school work ethics. Good job Brian, we will see you (and your tools) again. But hopefully NOT too soon.
i called to have our a/c system looked at since it wasn't cooling right. i really appreciate the get-down-to-business approach. Berkeys had the air conditioning system cleaned and running quick.

I honestly unfortunately have had these guys come by to service my AC unit more times that I care to say, but I would rather have them than anyone else.
They actually cleaned up a mess job from another company over a year ago and they are the ones that I call every time!
My home and unit are old but they always come back out whenever I call. They appear to be honest and are very accommodating. I feel like Clarence and I are old friends
You really cannot go wrong with Berkey's. Give them a try!!
Had a dripping shower head on Saturday and called around to different plumbing companies to see if anyone could come out. One company mentioned it would be around $280 to repair on weekends and $180 if I could wait until Monday. Having given at least some type of price range, I noticed Berkeys serviced my area. Gave them a call and scheduled for someone to come out on Monday. I'm thinking in my mind they would quote around the same weekday price. What a mistake that was. Was given a quote of $422. That's insane. No way would I pay this or the service fee which was not mentioned when I scheduled. Rescheduled with the company that had given me the $180 price. I will never call Berkeys again for any type of service.

I was out of town and my brother in law called saying the house was hot and not cooling. I got home and scheduled a technician. He checked the freon levels, and opened the door to the air handler and made a visual inspection. After which he says, i cant fix what isnt broke. The filter was dirty and he chalked it up to that even though i had changed it hours before he got there. Packed up and left after charging me the after hours fee.
When he left, i removed the filter and the return vent cover and saw the coils were filthy. I feel it should be pretty standard practice to check the coils if the filter is dirty and you believe that was the issue. Still on the look for a quality AC service provider

As the family suffered through the night, I messaged Berkeys requesting they send someone else out the next day, include their Yelp discount, and in return, if they were successful in remedying my issue, I would update my reviews accordingly. I'm happy to say that we are now blowing cool air again. I'm assuming the dirty filter, along with the coils, put strain on the compressor and it shut down. When it shut down, the capacitor had nothing to dump its juice into and burned up. The technician did some trial runs to see if it was the compressor, and after those failed to point to the compressor, he used his meter to check the capacitor and realized it was shot. He did explain it to me what his theory of what happened, I just don't remember what he said. This is from my limited knowledge and understanding.
I'm happy that Berkeys honored my request. They are rather pricey, so no 5 star rating. A $250 after hours fee and $174 after Yelp discount for a $15~ capacitor. I think I'll purchase myself an Ohm meter and rely on my own two hands. Both technicians were professional and polite. Just not sure why the first go around didn't diagnose this from the start. The second technician had a laser thermometer to make sure the registers were blowing cold. I'll make my own assumptions and guess it's from late shift work.

Zero stars should be an option. My wife and I have been experiencing some plumbing issues in our house for some time now. We have been trying to track down our issue and have gotten nowhere with any local plumbers. So we reached out to Berkeys requesting a leak detection service as we were told that we could possibly have a slab leak. Upon Berkeys arriving at our home Jake our service guy was very quick to be led to a dual water valve such as one in a bathroom bath tub. After turning on our water and sitting with it for a bit he was very quick to determine that we had a hot water leak under the house. We have experienced this issue once before as we told him of our horror story from our last experience. His suggestion was to run all new hot water lines thru our attic to eliminate any underground issues. I had raised my concern of we had called him to do a water leak detection as requested. He had told me that is very expensive and this fix would just take care of the leak anyways. We were estimated $7000.00 to do this fix. As they are the experts in plumbing my wife and I had our frustrations with this house and just wanted it to be fixed so we could live our lives not in fear of foundation issues due to a leak later down the road. So we agreed to have it fixed. When asked when they would get started we were informed the very next day early in the morning. Wow that's fast we exclaimed. The next morning 3 trucks and like 6 guys invade our house. I want to say the experience and the guys who entered my home were very professional and were great. My issue is not with them as they did not evaluate my home they were there just to work. One day from start to finish to complete what was told to be a 2 day job. Several holes cut in my walls for access to existing plumbing to tie in all new red Pex lines and fittings. That night after these repairs were completed. My wife walked into our master bathroom to walk right into a huge water puddle in the middle of our bathroom. Hot water valve on one of the sinks is leaking all over the place. Turned the valve off and contacted Jacob at Berkeys only to find a voicemail, so I left one. After sometime with no response he was texted. With still no response my wife called Berkeys main line to be greeted by the receptionist who turned us over to the general manager who assured Jacob would contact us. This would have been a different phone call if it was weeks, months, or even days after the repair but this was within a few hours of the repair. Jacob called us and said he would be by the next day to check it out. When he showed up we were basically told he is not running and hiding from the situation with out ever being asked if he was. ''Sign of Guilt'' Maybe? He told us he was going to replace 2 hot water valves under both our bathroom sinks cause they were faulty and that he would send someone to do so. This was on March 8th two days after the main repair. March 12th and I am typing this review with still no hot water in my main bathroom sinks cause it has not been repaired. When my wife called Berkeys on the 11th they know nothing of these repairs. My wife tried to reach out to Jake about this with texting and phone calls only to get 1 no response. I don't know about you but if I had a customer who just spent $7k on a repair that 1 has not been completed and 2 made a statement like Im not running from this and is not returning phone calls I would at least send somebody else out to get this handled. I will be disputing the charges with the finance company right after this review. Not to mention in all of this they didn't even fix my leak. Its not on the hot water side its on the cold water side. By the way I fixed it myself with a $15.00 part from Home Depot. My toilet float valve was bad. Causing my water to run constantly with a leaky flap valve. I will never use these guys or ever recommend anyone to them as I don't wish this kind of scam to anyone. They still have not anchored down any of the work performed, Loose shower heads, faucets, and bath tub valves. Hot water valves in master bathroom sinks still leak. I am also going to contact the BBB and let them in on the situation as well. Berkeys called and tried to setup the inspectors to stop by and inspect the work and we told them they may want to finish the job before doing so. Quick to collect that money and not fix issues listed above. I will fight this till the end.

The Membership is a total scam and they broke a part during a routine flush and charged more for the labor than the original issue that was the same time and effort according to the manufacture of the tankless water heater.
The Membership is pitched as a discount for future work for a year. They use the cost of a flush at original cost of $339 or only $217 with membership as an example.
First, no one would ever pay $339 for a flush and last year I got a flush done for $150 and they didn't break anything.
Secondly, they say you have a service fee of $67 but if you get the membership for $99 you don't pay the service fee and you get these discounts.
So, really you're just paying for a $99 service fee.
They do not waive the service fee because that is now your more expensive Membership fee.
Make sense? Confusing right... That's the point.
Finally, I called to speak to a manager to discuss paying for the labor charge instead of dealing directly with the techs after the weekend and I never received a call back.
Shady - Do not call them.

Now I know why Berkey's charges a $69.00 service charge. Had them come out ( no time frame just a we will call when we're on our way) to replace a water pressure regulator and the young man told us it was his first time out by himself. He seemed a little insecure also but I ask for an estimate anyway. He gave a quote of $850.00 with no guarantee and that we had to dig out around it for them to service it. No way. Oh, he got there around 3 pm. An easy $69.00 for a 10 minute visit. I contacted ACE plumbing got a time frame of 8 am to 10am. They got here a little after 8 and quoted $450.00 with a guarantee and they did all the digging and refilling. Thank you ACE plumbing.
Wow, reading the reviews for this company I dodged a bullet. I see their tv advertisements all the time and had a plumbing repair so I decided to give them a try and gave them a call. What is their tagline? Oh ya We're there when you need us. False advertising. The attorney general should make them stop using this. They told me they were scheduling 10 days out and this was well before the big winter storm so no excuses. Berkey's you weren't there when I needed you and after reading all the reviews written here I won't be calling you for service again.
Our hot water heater broke today. I called Berkey's to come give me an estimate. He told us we needed a new one and gave us a quote. We were flabbergasted at the prices he quoted us. He quoted (with a $99 service agreement) a 50 gal gas heater at $1416. I can get one at Home Depot for $400. He quoted a 24 Drainpan for $120. I just came from Home Depot with one and paid $15.99 for it. His total quote to us was $2398. This is the most ridiculous quote we ever received. I cannot believe they are ripping off people with these prices. You can be sure I will be telling people NOT to call them because of their overpriced service. I paid their service tech $69 for a service call to no avail. I do understand there should be a premium for a weekend call, but this much premium is totally out of line.
$505 for a simple leak. The break down: $99 'service plan, $405 for one hour of work and one hour of shopping for parts by the tech. The cover was left off both the foundation entrance in the house, and the shut off meter cover in the alley. They did fix the leak quickly, but I will certainly not ever use them again for my home or business.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! THEY HAVE HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND OVER CHARGE YOU TIMES THREE!!! I had a hot water heater leak and they charged almost $1,900.00 for a $600.00 water heater. They lie and cheat their customers. I have turned them into their regulatory agency. I was forced to use these people because it was a Sunday night and the Condo management sent them out to make sure it was not a slab leak. Berkeys does not even deserve a star. You can't even speak to the owner of the company because they know you will complain on them. The tech had my husband sign a quote for $500.00, twenty minutes before the job was done he came back with another quote for $2,300.00. There was absolutely nothing we could do at that time. I called and complained and talked to Jamie and he said too bad. Same this happened to JC on this page. HMMMM....seems like a company policy to be deceptive.

I have lived in Southlake for 15 years and have used Berkey's before with satisfactory results. Recently I was told by my Atmos meter reader that the underground pipe coming into my meter had corrosion and suggested I contact Berkey's to inspect it. They came out on March 21st to inspect it and I was given an estimate of $1600 to replace it. The next day they came out to dig it up and informed me that they would have to break up my driveway to complete the repair and it would cost an additional $2000. They said sprinkler lines ran under my driveway and I pointed out that it made no sense for them to be placed there. Soon two other employees from Berkey's cam by to reinforce the work needed to be done. This just did not pass the smell test. I told them I would be getting a second opinion. One of the Berkey's employees, Alex, began speaking with his co worker. The other two employees left. The conversation between Alex and his co worker became quite heated. Alex told me that he could fix the problem without the additional work recommended. The other co worker went back into his truck and sat there while Alex did the digging. He called his supervisor to report his co workers horrible attitude, but nothing was done. Alex came by the next day when the Southlake inspectors came by to inspect the work. He was then called to go on another job. He said a crew would be by on Monday to backfill the hole. Meanwhile I had a huge pile of dirt in my driveway. They did not show up to backfill until almost a week later. They asked me to turn my sprinkling on and I did but with no result. I had never had a problem with my sprinkler before so I thought it was extremely coincidental. I asked the Berkey technicians to check and see if anything had been tampered with on the previous visit and he said it had not. Today, April 9th Andy's Sprinklers came out and said that my sprinkle line had been turned off. When they turned it back on water exploded from the area they had worked on. They had broken my sprinkler. My repair bill was almost $700. While the Andy's Sprinkler people were her I called Berkey's to explain the situation. I explained the urgency of the situation and was assured that the plumbing manager, Kelly would be notified and call me shortly. That was at 10:00 am and it is now after 5:30 pm and no return call from Berkey's
Their commercial say Berkey's, we are there when you need us.
What a joke!
You have some serious problems at your company based on these compound foul ups. I will be sure to let my Southlake neighbors know about my experience.
I called them on a Sunday morning due to a plumbing emergency. They told me I would be their second appointment of the day. Finally around 3:00 pm, Mitch arrived. As soon as he saw the condensate line was backed up (which I told them over the phone), he said he doesn't deal with water and left after 3 minutes. I then called the office asking why they sent a technician who can't work with water and the woman got an attitude with me. She told me she could get a plumber out there that night after 10:00 pm and there would be an additional $275 trip charge in addition to the $150 trip charge I just paid to get Mitch out for 3 minutes. Worst experience ever. I called Jamie Wooldridge, President and told him what happened. Very nice guy. He apologized and refunded my $150 trip charge. I dealt with the Southlake store and would never, ever call them again but I will say that Jamie is a good man and did the right thing.

A Sr HVAC tech from Berkeys came to service a downstairs AC unit. He told us that he replaced the capacitors and the unit was bad and needed the compressor and coils replaced for $13,0000. We had to then wait in the heat for 4 days until the appointment with Our regular AC company. The guy who installed the unit was our technician. He pulled off the factory capacitors and replaced them (see pics, these capacitors are not new like Berkeys tech said). The unit works fine now. He fixed our AC needs in 12 minutes. Berkeys would only sell us a new unit. We sweltered in the heat for days with a special needs adult in the house because the Berkeys tech lied and refused to service our AC. But also charged $216 and did not provide a receipt for services.
I've had Berkeley's for my heating and air and electrical needs. Each person has been professional.
Terrible. Simply needed a toilet fixed. First guy came and told me a couple days for parts. Over a week went by and I called and they said that the guy who came to me quit and never put order in. Why would you not follow up with customers he saw once he quit. Next guy came and told me he would personally stay in touch about the parts. Over a week went by and I never heard from him. So I called in again and got a bunch of BS and still no parts in. So waited few more days and nothing. Worse part is I paid to have their maintenance program where you are supposed to be treated first class. Kinda of funny listening to how wonderful they are when you are on hold. They really tout how well they take care of you in their little commercial while on hold. Well that's the farthest thing from the truth. Used Nextdoor app to get some recommendations after the fact. They did not get any but they got a couple of complaints on there as well. Stay away. Stay far away. I have no idea how they stay in business.
The service man was a nice fellow, and others I talked to very nice also, except one manager who called and left a sort of rude message and claimed I owed a 69$ service fee accusing me that they went over phone records and I had agreed to pay it. They probably did tell me about it, maybe I did, I do remember them saying something about a 99$ membership fee... but I explained while the service guy was here and he had a manager on the phone that the reason I refused service was because it was 3 to 4 times what it should be. (maybe alot higher) he said the membership would save me money... do the math... while the guy was here, whoever he had on the phone said they'd waive the fee... I got the message that I owed it later. I called about it, lady was nice, and whoever she talked to said yes I owe the fee, wanted me to pay over phone, I refused.
The work they quoted (with paying the membership) would have been about 1400$ to change rubber seals in between 3 toilets (was about 300-400 each I can't recall but it was very high at least 300 each) and 2 wax rings in 2 of them, (I think another 300 or so each) I could do it myself in 20 minutes if I hadn't had two back surgeries. I can get brand new one piece toilets at home depot right now for 139 each... (400 for 3 new toilets) I just looked them up. I have worked for plumbers before, I know it's not worth what they asked. They didn't offer any options like new toilets, etc. The parts for the tank repair is about 5 to 10 bucks depending on brand. Wax rings are a dollar.
So now I have a man coming who says he'll do the repairs for 250 (all of it) and he's done work for me before and I wish I had thought to call him first. I talked to him about setting me new toilets, so I'll prob go that route. He won't charge me much markup to go get the new toilets. So for about half what Berkey's quoted me to repair I can get all new. (400+250 approx, maybe little more, yeah half)
The Berkey's service man said he understood it's a lot, no problem, and he was a really nice guy, the ladies on the phone said same thing too, (I wonder if they hear it a lot) and I told the service guy and the people on the phone I would have let them do the work if it were reasonably priced. No one addressed my concerns about the high quote, or keeping me as a customer, (I have had them out before) instead it was all about collecting this 69$ which I didn't recall them saying, I do recall them saying 99$ membership to save me money... all just seems really unfair to me. Draw your own conclusions. I'm not mad, just really disappointed. Frustrated.
I told them I didn't want to pay it. They wanted me to pay the fee over the phone... and I told them if they insisted on forcing me to pay the 69$ I would file a complaint online. They insisted, so here it is. They didn't meet my needs as a customer, that's the bottom line. I may end up paying the 69 if I owe it, I don't have a problem with that, but I won't be calling them again. It didn't fix my problem and they let me down (a repeat customer) From now on, whoever I call will be free estimates only... and there's a lot of plumbers out there.
I just wanted to get it done, and really wanted them to do it, and would have if it were reasonable. Prices apparently are not negotiable. My wife just died 2 months ago and I am on a really tight budget. Had I known they were so high and unreasonable up front, I never would have asked them to come out. They don't quote over the phone- the man will tell you the cost when he assesses the problem. Seems like the fee is all they really cared about. Sad.
Tommy Santee came out for a return call with a positive attitude to repair my toilet which the previous tech from the day before thought he had repaired. Tommy was also extremely polite & considerate.
We have been BAM customers for numerous years. A tech came out 3 weeks ago and advised us our A/C unit needed 3 to 4 pounds of refrigerant, yet he couldn't locate a leak. The price quoted seem way too high so we declined having this service performed. I had another company come to check our unit and was advised the locks place on our unit were not accessible with their universal key. I also had another company also advised have never seem locks that were on my unit. Though Berkeys is denying placing these locks, even though they are only company who has serviced this unit. They were able to remove using channel locks. To my amazement our unit was not low on refrigerant at all. Berkeys is pointing their finger at training issues with tech. I will never use their service again and suggest everyone needs get 2nd opinion before allowing any work and service performed.
Very disappointed in your company. Called Sunday was told 150 service fee to come look at AC . Got a call about an hour later told the can't make it till Monday but to call the office at 8 A.M. called Office told the service fee is now 250. After being your customer for over 15 years our relationship is OVER! I will be sure to let anyone that will listen how you price gouge customers while you call yourself a 24/7 company. I found a new provider who charged their everyday customer price . Good luck Berkeys as you just lost a customer and a person who will not recommend a price gouging company that you are!

Never got to know about the work they do.....when I complained about the rates they wanted to charge, but signed to have the work done anyway because I had no water at my house, the repair man told me an hour later that they did not want to do the job because I was unhappy with their price. So he drove off, leaving me with no water, to find another company. Their prices were high, about double for the exact type job I'd had done recently. Just get another quote before using this company and do not tell them that you think their prices are too high!
Very pleased with Berkey's prompt service! We had a plumbing issue on a Saturday afternoon. Originally we were told on the phone that a plumber could come out at 10 pm. Not being able to use the toilet, sinks or showers, it was something that needed to be taken care of ASAP. The plumber, Matthew, came a little after eight and quickly took care of the problem. It's so nice to be back to normal. We definitely will be recommending Berkey's Plumbing to others! Eff,
Employees at Berkeys all need to attend training for customer service. We were actually told by the air conditioning technician that we would need a repairman who was 90 years old to work on our attic fan. He was about 22 years old and had no idea what an attic fan was much less how to work on it. Funny how he blamed the customer for having a different cooling system versus taking any type of responsibility.
I'm amazed at the job they have done and in the amount of time they took. We installed gas stove in our house which is on the middle of an island. I didn't want my floor to be damaged, going through many other companies, Berkeys was the only one that came through underground and installed a gas line. No damage to our floor at all. All of their technicians that we dealt with were knowledgeable and professional. During this Covid-19, they took precautions and we are very pleased with their service. I highly recommend them if you're looking to have gas install in your home

I've had the same experience as the other reviewers about Berkeys, beware of the overpriced repair recommendations, but you also need to understand what you are getting. I am on their $99 annual a/c and heating inspection plan and I think there is some value there. As part of the annual plan, I have gotten some things like service calls for minor problems, for no charge. So, when there are service calls where actual repairs are needed I would expect them to be higher as they probably add an extra margin to make up for some of the costs they incur for service calls they don't charge, but their prices are really high. As part of the annual plan during the annual and other inspections, Berkeys makes recommendations of potential issues that could be fixed/replaced. I do, however, feel that Berkeys service technicians make more of a sales pitch on doing some sort of repair work, even though it doesn't need to be done. I think the service technicians are paid on commissions to push repairs.
My upstairs a/c unit was not cooling and the coils and pipes were freezing over, the Berkeys technician said it was the TXV value and it would cost $1000, and that the evaporator coils were also rusted and I should replace the entire unit for $3200 instead since it had already had a TXV value and he thought it would begin to leak soon. That would make sense, but all evaporator coils have rust on them, so I was thinking he was pressuring me to spend more on unnecessary repairs and the cost was high. So, I called around for estimates to replace the entire coil with a new unit and got a quote for $2100 and another for $1800. Also, another A/C company told me that my TXV value was still under warranty and that would be a warranty replacement for $580. Berkeys never told me this after I asked them specifically to check Trane for a warranty. Well, another service company diagnosed the a/c system and it was low freon caused by a slow leak in one of pipes near the condenser unit, not the TXV vale. The technician was surprised Berkeys missed that and said the evaporator coil is fine, just common surface rust . So 4lbs of freon later my a/c seems to be working fine. Costs for this repair and the freon was about the same as estimated costs for replacing the TXV valve under warranty. In past service calls, they told my capacitor was low and replaced it for $200, which I found out later was a $40 part, and gave me estimates to replace the filters for $85/each, which I purchased on Amazon for $20/each and replaced them in 10 minutes. So, Berkeys $99 annual plan is somewhat worth it, but always get a second opinion on recommended repairs. I think I have a new a/c company.
$650 for under 1 hour of work. Not counting hour trip to supply hut because he didn't have simple 3/8th fitting to fix the pinhole. I'm an idiot for signing off on the work and expense, but I was trying to get it done fast and get back to work ... wish I'd know he didn't have the parts and would cost me an hour before I signed. On the good size, I talked him into just cutting out a small one foot square piece of wall rather than a much larger section. I'm an idiot, you shouldn't be
In all fairness, I never got to the point of using them. I had a simple plumbing issue that shouldn't have taken longer than 30 minutes. They sent someone out to look at what I wanted done, and when I told him, he said it couldn't be done. When I pushed the issue, he called his boss, and apparently told him it could be done. He said he learned something new today.
Immediately, I knew this wasn't the guy I wanted to do the work. To make matters worse, he quoted me a ridiculously crazy high price. The price he quoted was 4 TIMES the price I got it done for. Again, to be fair, the stupid price they quoted me may have been due to the fact that the guy they sent out did not know how to explain exactly what needed to be done. The point being, they should screen the people they higher a little better.

Almost worse than door to door salesmen. What ever happened to scheduling a service call and actually having a technician diagnosis your unit and repair it.. I wouldn't even mind the technician giving me recommendations to help improve my unit, make it more efficient.. etc. BUT... Before you even call this company to schedule your service call they are already preparing the sales pitch. I find it extremely bothering that this company is almost double the cost of any other competitor in the area... why are they twice the price.. well that's easy.. after a full page list of all the supposedly have to repair now problems in order to get your unit up and running.. the price is already well in the thousands.. well then you have the technician mention how for a few more thousands you can just replace your unit. And BOOM that's EXACTLY what they wanted.. another sale! Even if you have a newer unit they will try and find some excuse on why it needs to be replaced... I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE. OH.. and if the owner happens to ever come across this review... I would recommend you find a different career.
I had a valve that needed to be replaced in my laundry room. The plumber made a mistake and left the valve on when turning the water supply back on. This led to localized water damage in my laundry room and kitchen. So why 4* stars? I assume all plumbing companies occasionally make mistakes. But when Berkies did, they apologized profusely, refunded the service, had a water restoration company come out that day, and picked up the cost of all repairs, which in such an unfortunate circumstance is really all I could have asked for. I think this shows they are a stand up company that occasionally makes mistakes but takes care of it when they do.

Do your research before agreeing to their price and get a second opinion! I was quoted $1k for labor to replace a fan motor which seems a bit high for 2 hour max job. Ended up having another company come out and complete the repairs for 1/3 of their quoted cost.
I am with one of the other reviewers - wish I could give zero stars. We called because our emergency shut off valve was leaking. The technician arrived and replaced the shut off valve. The whole job took 15 minutes. The charge $318.00 ($69.00 to diagnosis ****already knew this as I know what the shut off valve is) and rest to fix it. I felt robbed literally. I called and talked to 4 other plumbers that all told me $120 or less in fee. Good business practice DOES NOT robbed their customers. Will not call again. Wish I had read yelp before I let them in my house. BTW when we called yesterday afternoon it was a $150.00 after hours fee. I noticed one of the reviews says they $89.00 so addition to everything else about this contractor that reeks not honesty they adjust prices to their liking.

Brandon came out and gave me 3 options to fix my A/C.
1) Repair Restricted evaporator coil $2,074 or if I sign up for their 1 year service ($99.00) $1762
2) Replace evaporator coil (new warranty) $4,898 or if I sign up for their 1 year service $3,856
3) Replace coil and condenser $8,218 or if I sign up for their 1 year service $7,196
Brandon was rude, condescending, and was pressuring me to make a decision right then.
When I told him I wanted to think about it he asked if I was calling him a liar. I informed him I might want to get a second opinion and he told me to just ask the male who referred them to me trying to discourage me from getting a 2nd opinion. Asked if I had a husband to consult with.
At the time I felt uncomfortable and told him I would sign up for the 1 year service but needed to wait on the rest.
I called and complained and was told that my money would be refunded which $99 was not the entire amount of $218 was not.
After having another company come out it was determined that the information Brandon gave me was incorrect. It was a bad TxV metering device and after replaced cost me $363.00
After 3 calls to Berkeys, my total charge has not been refunded. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone!
I called Berkeys to fix my 4 year old York Air Conditioning unit, which didn't seem to be performing @ 100%. The system seemed to be working after the technician left.
3 weeks later, the system they supposedly fixed quit working altogether. After paying an extra charge to get their 'rapid response' service, the system quit working & when I called them to fix it, they couldn't do it until 12:00 midnight because only one guy was on duty for the entire week-end.
Next, some other guy called me to say he could come now but it would cost me double.
Bottom line, don't call Berkeys to fix your air conditioner.

We had emergency which included having to shut off the main water supply. We called Berkeys @ 6pm on a Sunday and were told the rate of $150 and hour and that a technician would call. At 8:30pm, with no call - we called again and were told the technician would give us an ETA. We received a call but when answered, no one was there. We assumed they were on their way. At 10:30 pm, we called to cancel and shortly after, received a call from the technician stating that he could be here in 30 minutes but then told us the rate was now $250 an hour because of the time. Extremely unethical and taking advantage of a situation they created. Do not do business with this company, they are dishonest.
My mom was concerned that the AC seemed to be running all the time and she was worried that she was facing an expensive freon charge. Tren came out and paid attention to her concern, even though the AC appeared to be running fine.
He found that the condenser was almost completely blocked and cleaned that off, then checked the AC again to be sure that he had fixed the problem. He told us what to watch out for over the next few days to see if a new thermostat was really needed or not.
What impressed me even more than his expertise was his concern for his customers. He said, I like helping people. and that showed. Even though it had been two years ago, he remembered my dad, who passed away this last October, and he told me about their conversation.
My dad had no patience for people who were just pretending to be nice so if they had a conversation, it was because my dad could tell Tren was genuine. I'm convinced, too!

They seem to overcharge.
I would CAUTION anyone who calls this company to be aware that they do not tell you how much the parts and labor are. There is a Flat Rate fee that they come up with without any details. Even after asking multiple times.
When I received the invoice for work done, there was zero information on how much the labor vs parts were on the invoice.
They can charge you whatever they want and if you know little about ac units.. that is scary.
My advice, if you do call them I would definitely get more quotes before paying them.
I do not trust the way they bill their customers and warn anyone reading this.
My repair was a replacement condenser motor fan which I saw online for 150.00 - 205.00(max price) .
My total bill at the end of the day was 724.00!
I am a not so satisfied customer and
Here is a response email from Gaye at Berkeys who seems to imply that their customer service and technicians, make up for the cost:
BTW.. If you talk to any AC company they will claim long-term warranties, 100% satisfaction guarantees, and a company that will be there when you need us, 24/7
---------
We appreciate your email as we always welcome feedback.
Our pricing, while we acknowledge is not the cheapest available, comes with long-term warranties, 100% satisfaction guarantees, from a company that will be there when you need us, 24/7. Our technicians are licensed, certified, and meet our rigorous requirements to ensure the customer receives the very best quality service and technical advice available. All of this is built into the cost of every job. We do not compare our prices to internet prices or that of the large home improvement centers because of the type of service provided by Berkeys. If you have further questions or concerns, please give me a call and, if I can't answer your questions, I will forward you to the person that can. Thank you.
I woke up one morning and it was 82*F in my house and climbing. I called the number on an old magnet on the fridge and it was a new company at the other end, but they repaired air conditioning and couple come out that day between noon and five, so I said, yes!
Mike Mennenga called me around 1:30 and said he was headed my way. It was 86*F and I was elated. He came, inspected the outdoor unit and quickly identified the issue, as the fan had slipped its mount. He did not have the part, but had someone bring it from Dallas. He saved me money by seating the new fan on the old motor, rather than pushing the new one and by selling me an annual inspection package that gets me discounts on service, including today, so I saved more than the package cost and will get inspection of my heater before it has to work hard for the winter.
By 4pm, the air conditioner was running and the temperature back down to 82*F. By 9:30pm, it was at a sleepable temperature and I praised the name of Mike Mennenga!
A week later, I received a thank you card in the mail for choosing their service. I have one friend who sends thank you cards and have always admired her and wished I could do the same, but never can motivate myself to do so. Here, a service provider and my personal hero in summer in Texas, sent me a card for letting him fix my air conditioner. I praised the name of Mike Mennenga!
I use Berkeys now for my a/c, plumbing, and electrical. Thanks Mike!

These guys are great. I had a leak that started coming out of my ceiling late at night. Berkeys were the only 24 hour plumber that I found that actually had somebody answer the phone. They sent a technician out at midnight and he diagnosed and fixed the leak within a couple of hours. The technician was very knowledgeable and professional. I will definitely be using them for any plumbing needs in the future
We called appx 5 days in advance to have a plumber come to our home. We were given an appointment time between 10-2 pm on January 30, 2018. We did receive a call around 2 saying it would be an hour, that we were the next appointment and we would receive a call when he was on the way. The plumber finally showed up after 5pm, no call. I would call this dismal customer service. The bid he gave us was beyond outrageous on two of the 3 issues we had. My husband let him perform the one job, I would have sent him packing but the husband did want the one item handled. As I type this he is working right now. I realize the incompetence of the dispatch/appointment staff should not be a reflection of plumbers work. If I could give negative stars I would based entirely on the flat out lies we received from the office staff. I do not reccomend this company, even to my worst enemy.

I had previously canceled their club membership plan because I felt their overall cost structure was way too expensive. Recently our tenant had a weekend toilet line clog and, not counting the after hours charge which I didn't object to, they charged $826 to pull/reset a toilet and clear a clogged line. Equivalent to over $300 / hour for the time spent there. I remain convinced that Berkeys has some nice people but their costs are more than excessively high. And, they have not been willing to consider any partial credit for the work as I had another clog in an adjacent line two days later that they would not consider covering under any call back provision. I am done with Berkeys, and will not recommend them.
Berkeys AC Repair is a great service provider. They diagnosed my AC problems and gave (2) options on service. A Temporary Solution and a Permanent Solution. Temporary was the cost effective way; Permanent required a new system. The Technician was very thorough explaining the Pros &Cons for each, and, ultimately I went with the Temporary. So far no problems and it made me realize when I go for Permanent Fix that Berkeys is the only company I will call. They helped me get maximum life from my HVAC system!
I called Berkeys for the first time for an urgent appointment to replace a broken 9 inch strip of outside PVC water line. The technician was knowledgeable and completed the repair in less than 2 hours. The charge of $457 seemed high but when questions I was denied a breakdown of the fee estimate. Other local companies have been less expensive and handled my request differently for explanation of charges. I'll not be using Berkeys again unless I have no other choice or I have money to burn.
Please do not use this company. I have been a loyal client for many years. They will not give you a window of time to arrive at your home for scheduled maintenance &
Routine paid for maintenance is a joke and a way to get more money and a renewed contract from you. I just canceled a scheduled appointment due to the fact it's 4:07 PM. I begged them for an early appointment between 8-12 weeks ago because of work Hubby couldn't be present, so we had someone come out of Dallas to Fort Worth to receive them as a favor.
Once before they didn't show for a scheduled appointment at all.
I'm sorry but Berkeys company and reputation has changed. It is Not worth it. We will NOT be renewing our contract.

Not a good experience what so ever sorry I even have to give 1 Star. Called got a $39 quote for fee just to come out. Then roommate called them back to make appt told him $69 then he told them we got a quote $39 she said oh you have pier and beam it is $39. They never showed up. Called at 2:02pm they said oh there is no guarantee the 10-2 window. He called back at first they said they were in a meeting we will call you back. I've worked in customer service all my life. I was shocked. Then he called back again when they didn't show and they said no it's $69 for the visit. Hhhhmmmm oh yes we cancelled the appointment. Save yourself some aggravation. Call someone else like we did. NIGHTMARE
Expensive but... they are there in a jiffy typical within 2 hours. They get in get the job done right the first time. Highly recommend.
I called on a Saturday to have someone come out and although I am a member the first time available was Tuesday. The serviceman showed up on time and took care of everything. Everyone has been very friendly and efficient but the downside has been the cost. I haven't been quoted anything outrageous like others have mentioned but it does seem like it is on the higher end. On the flip side, you do get what you pay for.

These guys misinstalled an air conditioning unit for me causing thousands of dollars in damage. They fought mold remediation, fought the repair estimate, partially paid my insurance company and then refused to reimburse me my $3500 deductible. Total crooks!
So I have been a client of Berkeys for over 3 years...I have gotten my AC fixed, a new tankless hot water heater and also electrical inspections. Earlier this week I asked to renew my membership for electrical and have them come out and check for some issues. I gladly paid the $99 dollars and scheduled an appointment from 12-4pm. So I take off the afternoon of Wednesday the 24th from 12-5:30pm giving myself amble time. I called at 3pm and they indicated I was the next to receive a technician but they probably not be here until around 4pm. I asked them how long it would take and they informed me it would be 45 minutes once they got here. I had a client meeting at 5:30 so that gave me plenty of time. I explained I had a meeting at 5:30 and I might have to reschedule if they could not get here by 4pm. I called back at 4:30 because I still did not receive a call. They indicated they they where overbooked...not my problem...and then explained they told me they where running late...I said I knew that because I called you an hour and half ago. I explained I can not take off work to wait for them and they said we call you 30 minutes before we come...what work allows someone to just leave when they get a phone call...not mine! I said I really needed this done so can we move to Friday...they are overbooked so I asked for a refund and now looking for a new company. I was also so impressed with Berkey's but they really let me down and will not use them again.

These people are con artists. I called them to fixed a gas leak around a coupling at the gas meter. The only reason I called them was because they were listed as a member of Atmos Energy Gas Dealer Network which offered a 20% discount (up to $250). The dispatcher who made my appointment said they would accept the 20% discount coupon but when the technician arrived, he said his manager told him they wouldn't accept the coupon.
They immediately started pushing their annual membership for $100 that renews automatically which basically offers nothing but a 15% discount off their outrageous rates. They charged $575 to perform a pressure test that took 30 minutes. Instead of offering to fix the area that was leaking they wanted to replace the entire gas line from the meter to the house for $2,700. When asked why they don't just fix the area that is leaking the technician stated that they don't do it that way. I would never have agreed to have them perform a $575 pressure test if they were only willing to replace the entire gas line in the yard. I basically paid them $575 for nothing.
I called another licensed plumber who came out the next day and replaced the coupling and pipe leading to the gas meter for $385. This price even included the air pressure test.
Avoid this company at all costs or you will be sorry.

I wish I would have read the Yelp reviews before calling. There's a reason why they have such poor reviews. Their pricing was outrageous and the technician seemed to not know what he was doing. We had a faucet that wasn't working and the technician's first diagnosis was completely, utterly wrong. He told us that there was no water connected to the faucet, which is why it wasn't working. That was our first indication that he was not interested in actually properly fixing the problem. There was definitely water connected to the faucet, and they should be embarrassed for ever telling a customer that, without even checking the valves.
When we told the tech we weren't satisfied with his diagnosis of no water, he came up with a different diagnosis that a part in the faucet wasn't working properly. He told us that it would likely be really hard to fix so we'd be better off buying a new faucet. He then quoted us an astronomical price to install a new faucet ($200 for about 30 minutes of work).
Once he left, I went and talked to a guy in the plumbing department at Lowes and he told me to just clean the parts and see if it works. I disassembled the faucet, cleaned all the parts, put it back together, and the faucet worked. It took less than an hour and cost me $0.
Also, their $30 membership is a complete scam. Don't waste your time or money.
I've used Berkleys for the 25 years I've owned my home. They have replaced our system twice and usually had great service. I don't know what's happened but their service is abysmal at best. Poor communication. You purchase their BAM service for peace of mind - all that is is an opportunity for their service people to try and upsell you. Don't walk away from this company, run!
I have seen Berkey's trucks in my neighborhood over the years and thought I would get an estimate from them to help finish up some small plumbing work left on a bath remodel. This was not complicated plumbing; hook up 2 sink drains; mount and hook up a shower panel (stub outs in place). This should take a couple hours for an experienced plumber. When the Berkey's estimator showed up we went through everything with him in about 10 minutes. Then he went out to his truck for a half hour, then came back and handed me a quote for over $3,500 to do the work. Not only was the estimate not even close to being inline with the work effort to be performed, but he wanted his $79 call out fee.
I am sorry this is incompetence and just bad business to have someone provide such a grossly inaccurate estimate and still demand to get paid for it. In the end I had another plumber do the work, which took a couple hours, and paid at the hourly rate, cost me 10% of the Berkey's estimate.
I would not recommend Berkey's to anyone.
I have used Berkeys a few times for minor repairs and had good experience with some techs and not so good with others. Service times were decent so, being new to Texas, they were the ones I called. Their last visit however was a horrible experience where they lied to me about the problem. One of our AC units wasn't working. Long story short, they told me we had rats in the outside unit that ate the wires. The evidence they showed me was insulation sluffing out of the condenser cover. They gave me two options, $4K to replace wiring harness and $6K to replace entire condenser. Crazy numbers for replacing wiring. My instincts began tingling because the hard sell got odd, they contradicted themselves AND they said I should do the neighboring AC unit too since it had rats as well. Well, it turns out they flat our lied, there were no rats nor any evidence of rats in any form whatsoever. The insulation they pointed to as rat caused, was actually just the breakdown of the insulation. No wires were chewed, not a shred of evidence that any rats had ever been in or near the AC unit. I found one chaffed wire that was obviously damaged due to the unit vibration, which was no where near the rat area. I had the wire fixed for $150 by an electrician. This was the type of experience one hears about on the news where shady contractors take advantage of people but I never expected it from a big HVAC company. No other way to say it but they tried to scam me in an epic way. I'd NEVER use this company !

We have used Berkeys a couple of times now, and have been very happy with their work. Dan J has been our technician and does a wonderful job and explains everything he will be doing and breaks down the cost and shows you up front what to expect. We would recommend them.

Salesman came out to give us quote for sewer line replacement. He said we need 50 ft of new sewer line to go from the house to the street where the city hook up was. He gave a quote of $6800. When the line was dug up we only needed 30 ft because the city line came onto our property. We asked for a reduction in price and the owner said no. We felt we were charged for 50 ft and only got 30 ft. We had no complaints about the quality of their work.
Tech was rude and misinformed. He also antagonized me on purpose by repeatedly forgetting his egress door location in my small house. Then he says i have no freon. 15 minutes later he says he misread the guages and i'm only 2 or 3 pounds low. A $271 freon charging fee was assessed to me. Oh, when he 1st got to my house he told me I could use a $300 surge protector to safe guard my blower motor. Then he said my hard start capacitor was leaking and he recommended a change out for a mere $275 !! Then he started pricing a new air handler that I never expressed any interest in. He also said I had a pin hole leak in my condenser. He never suggested that we fill the lines with a gumup solution. His suggestion was a new $4400 air handler unit. Then he disappeared out to his truck and when I finally went to see what that was about he let me stand there in the cold and never rolled his window down until i finally rapped on his window. He gave me that pain in his butt treatment.
The work i had done was well done I do have an issue with pricing, though. I was quoted a flat rate of 69.95. I said ok and made my appt. When the technician came and looked at it he quoted over 300.00. I had to ask for any coupon discount. I was told that was the pricing and the 69.95 was a just come to the door price. I needed my faucet repaired. I cried to myself over pricing during the repair. I will not ever call a company I can't trust again when I specifically say how important pricing is on a fixed income. I have since been told by a company representative that he reqretted the pricing misunderstanding. There has been no further resolution. I can understand they have to abide by their pricing, but I want other people to be sure and understand what the pricing may be and be prepared.
I had a leak from my water meter. I had called the city and they said the leak was on my side of the meter. When the gentleman from Berkeys got here he pumped the water out with a little hand pump. Then we could see where it was coming from and water was leaking from the fitting that attached to the meter where my pipe connected to the meter. I feel that the charge to correct the problem was very excessive. He replaced about one foot of pipe with some brass connections and a piece of another kind of pipe. It took less than an hour to do it including him going to get parts. He told me they could not warrant the work because of the type of pipe that ran from my home . The charge was over $1300.00 for this. When I asked how much it would cost to replace the line from the house to the meter, he guessed it was about 50 feet and that would be over $8000.00. I wish now I would have got a second bid but on Friday night going into the weekend with a water leak I just went it. The service tech was very nice and cleaned up well when he finished. But I can't beleive I paid $1377.12 to have a foot of pipe replaced in an hour and no warranty.
After checking Yelp I find they do this all the time. And I see that Berkeys always replies on yelp that the customer signed the piece of paper before the work starts.
Guess I got taken this time but it won't happen again, at least not by Berkeys! Please beware and don't you get taken by them!
Berkeys Google Search response reads For Colleyville emergency plumbing service, call on of our customer service representatives. We are available 24/7 year-round including Holidays! so when this physically impaired senior citizen called them at 3:19am on Juneteenth (after another plumber advertising 27/7 service had not responded within two hours) he was connected to an answering service who said they would dispatch someone. ... crickets for 4 hours ... meanwhile water is filling three rooms, so I called the city who was nice enough to send a public works fella out to turn off my water at the street ... and good thing because I NEVER DID hear anything from Berkeys, their answering service, their dispatch or ANY of their crew until a clerical person opening their office at 7:54am called asking me to call them back and they would see if they could put me on the schedule! FALSE. ADVERTISING. NOT. HELPFUL.
Fast, courteous, professional service. They called me back on a Sunday evening and got me in next day. I needed a whole new system and they came back the next day to do the work. They kept everything clean in my home, wore masks and bootie covers. Took their time doing very quality work and stayed until the job was done. Every person that was to come to my house, I received a picture of them prior with a heads up on eta, which was accurate.
Agree with Lisa L's review from 2011 -- always get a second opinion and quote before moving forward with Berkeys.
Recently encountered an issue with two of my furnaces. The Berkey's sales technician quickly concluded both needed to be replaced. I received a base price, then a 15% discount price, and then was invited to name my price for the sales rep to ask his manager for approval. I felt like I was buying a used car.
In addition, as I attempted to ask questions to my service professional, all I received was a lot of jargon pertaining to what was wrong. The other two HVAC professionals who came to my house spent a lot more time diagnosing my issues and explained what was going wrong in a very straightforward manner.
Ultimately, I was able to fix one of my two furnaces without needing a replacement and get the second one replaced completely at 50% of Berkey's initial price estimate
If you like to negotiate, Berkeys is your place. If you don't, suggest looking elsewhere.
I called Berkeys due to the performance of my upstairs AC unit not being up to par and the upstairs portion of my house heating up in the afternoon and the AC being unable to keep up. Rafael came to complete the inspection/repairs and did not even enter the house to inspect the condenser unit in the attic. He noted that the capacitor on the outside was leaking and immediately offered the replacement capacitor + a compressor saver (hard start kit) to the tune of $1000+ without investigating any further. He specifically mentioned that the amp draw on the compressor was high and the freon level was fine. While the AC worked OK for about a week, it started getting worse quickly. Luckily i had called a few vendors and had another appointment scheduled with another AC vendor. They completed a top to bottom assessment and found quite a few more issues. This lack of thoroughness and detail was disappointing when compared to the level of expertise provided by the other vendor who did the assessment for a lower price than Berkeys initial call out fee. I ended up replacing the complete unit and if Berkeys had shown me the full picture, I would not have spent money on unnecessary repairs. Warning to anyone using Berkeys that their service does not find all the issues and will have you spending money unnecessarily. Rafael also immediately suggested that the unit should be replaced with a larger unit , which based on the engineering report from multiple other vendors was not necessary.
I've been a Berkey's customer for the last 7 or 8 years. Over that time, they have completed about 10 different installation and repairs at both my primary residence and rental property. Work has included a new HVAC installation, repair to older HVAC unit, several plumbing repairs, and one or two electrical jobs.
On a couple of occasions, I have opted for other providers after getting Berkey's quotes, which seemed high for particular repairs, etc. Overall, I find Berkey's technicians to be knowledgeable and focused on delivering quality installations and repairs. But they are proud of their work, and their prices reflect this.
Here's my take after comparing Berkeys to other providers. Compared to other large repair companies, their prices are similar and I appreciate Berkeys customer service. Respond promptly and offer reliable service time windows. They also respond to after hour emergencies and do not seem to upcharge.
Smaller providers typically charge less, and in some cases much less, than Berkeys. However, I find that the service quality varies considerably across smaller providers. Yes, some do very good work, but when doing complex jobs, smaller providers typically only do either HVAC, plumbing, or electrical - not all three. So it's often difficult to find a quality technician across all disciplines. Berkeys seems to do all three well. And Berkeys does relatively well coordinating services across the three departments.
Bottom line - I think Berkeys beats similarly sized providers on service. While more expensive than the smaller guys, I find their work more reliably satisfactory - Berkeys will always do quality work, or at least they have always done so with me. And so I keep their number handy, because they will get my first call when I need something else done. (But I reserve the right to get a second opinion!)
Called Berkeys to check my air conditioner. They were great! Friendly and honest
Berkeys has been out to our house THREE different times and each time they find something new that is wrong. Not sure why they can't just figure out the issue. This time they told us we needed a whole new system and it would cost us $15K...that is ridiculous! We will never use Berkeys again!!

Saw great reviews online. Decided to try them out. After requesting an appointment online on Sunday, I finally received a call at 10:30am Monday. She said plumber would be available from 12-5. I asked if that could be narrowed down. No was the answer but they would call 30 minutes prior. Did try to sell me their $99 BAM plan. No call by 4:30. Called to check if still on schedule. Yes but they were running late. Finally get call at 6:05 and plumber on the way. Not 5 minutes later, she called back and plumber would not be coming. Would call when another one available. Decided that wasting 6 hours of my time was enough. Cancelled. Will not use them. They were more interested in selling me a plan then actually showing up to fix my problems! STAY AWAY from this company.

I'm extremely pleased with my new HVAC install project. Mike M. was A+ from the beginning competitive quote to follow up inspection and operational tips. The process went faster and better than I imagined thanks to Mike's detail in planning and thorough explanation of every step. Everyone encountered with Berkeys was kind and very professional. Selwyn and the install team went above and beyond to be neat and clean with the physical install. I'm glad I selected Berkeys!
Repair on a Sunday!!! Thank you Berkeys. Technician was fair honest, in-time! Could not have asked for a better experience. He explained the problem. Fixed it, less than what I had expected and gave me advice how to possibly avoid the same thing happening in the future. Crazy good service!!
If I could give them less than 1 Star I would. In my opinion, they are price gouging criminals! Avoid, avoid, avoid!they installed 2 hot water heaters in my home in 2013. Now one of the water heaters has burst, but since we paid EXTRA to have the super duper extended warranty it should be covered until 2025. But Berkeys is quoting $1800 plus just for labor to replace the burst water heater. And they want even more to re do plumbing installation that they now say is faulty. And caused the burst. That's right. They have told me that their plumbers installation caused the malfunction but they want me to pay big money for their mistakes. They also said it was because we have a water softener. I have no independent knowledge, I only know what they told me. Maybe your experience will be different, but I'm not taking the risk of hiring them again based on this experience.
My AC went out and I called Berkey's. Justin, the tech, was friendly, fast, courteous, and very professional. Got to the root of the problem in no time and my AC is back in service. Thanks Justin and Berkey's!
Someone else left a review and said Good luck getting these guys to show up! We waited 2 days, they missed every promised service window, we finally cancelled the request and called someone else.
...I totally agree. They missed my promised service window and I was not very happy as I had placed my day on hold for them only to have them blow me off. No regard for people's time which in my book means poor customer service.
Additionally, I feel I was ripped off. They charge you a fee just to show up and then they assess the situation only to charge me $342 for a 20 minute job (snaked my shower cause it was clogged). Oh and I was foolish enough to tack on another $100 for a service plan that supposedly saves you 10% on jobs throughout the year since there were some other issues needing fixed--that was a rip off seeing as I do not trust them after this incident to do the right thing and charge a fair price. So I'm out that money but have peace of mind knowing I won't get ripped off again by going elsewhere.
I would not recommend this place to anyone. They overcharge and their customer service is lacking. They keep this up, they will lose a lot of business as it seems I am not the only one who feels they overcharge and rip you off.
I was disappointed in the level of service for a repair on my sewer drain. I wanted to write to you to make sure that you understand the issues because I was never connected to a manager to speak about my issues. First, I section of my yard was dug incorrectly because Berkey sent a photo of the wrong area of my yard (I know because I stopped the crew and they showed me the photo). The crew was digging in the area of the photo -- so it was not their error. Secondly, it took almost two weeks and a few phone calls to Berkeys to re-sod the area. Finally, the sod was the wrong type -- I had Zoysia in the area and it was replaced with St. Augustine. I told the crew but they did not have Zoysia with them. Usually Berkeys delivers high customer satisfaction but not in this instance.
Greedy company! Won't give me an estimate over the phone even though I've already told them I needed ice maker valve box to get replaced. They said they need to send technician out to look at it first which will cost me $69. What's the difference between giving me an estimate over phone vs in person?! I understand if technician comes out and discover different problem and estimate might change but I've already figured out the problem and need to know how much it might cost me so I'll know if it's something I can afford now or wait until later.
Great first time use with Berkeys plumbing. I won't use anybody else. Scott Neal and Jordan were fantastic on-site and gave me all the confidence that I won't ask for anybody else in the future. Thanks for the support in this time of need before family arrives in a few days.
Had Berkeys come out and service my 10+ yo a/c unit.
Ceasar did a great job of diagnosing my unit and pointed out
some issues that may need to addressed in the future.
He did find that the capacitor on the outside unit was failing and was
able to replace it. All good for another blistering Texas summer.

I called them to charge my unit. Said I needed a new one and quoted me a price. 11,000 for a 2 ton unit?!?!? Criminal. This was high end so the went to the bare minimum, which was 8,000. Went to a competitor and got 5,000. Please check around for multiple opinions. Cannot be trusted.
This ridiculous company does terrible work and tried to charge $15,000 (yes $15K) to replace ONE condenser for a small single-story home. Pure highway robbery.
Bryce, our technician, arrived early and promptly fixed our problem. He made sure our garbage disposal was working before leaving the job. Berkey's has consistently served us with great and timely service at a fair price. We continue to call on them for our air conditioning and plumbing needs. Kimberly & John King

Technician handled a complicated toilet repair without any issues. Great, quick service. Very professional.
I used Berkeys for a few years with decent results, but a recent incident will never have me using their services again (and I will dissuade ANYONE from using them)...
One of my A/C units stopped working, so I called Berkeys out. After looking at the units (I have 2), they said that, yes, one was busted, and that the other one looked bad too. So, it would cost $6100 to replace the one unit (with a 14 SEER unit), but they recommended replacing both (for $12,400).
Knowing that the units were only about 5 years old, I thought that sounded a little fishy, and I got a second opinion. I'm glad I did.
First off, the 2nd opinion (from Advanced Air Technologies -- whom I will use for all of my repairs from now on) said that they could beat Berkeys price for the units AND they would be 16 SEER units. Then they came out and determined that I didn't need those new units at all -- I just needed a few parts (including a capacitor) that would cost around $600, installed.
But wait, there's more...
AAT took a look at the quote from Berkeys, and said that their quote wasn't even for a whole new system... it was for pieces of one. After looking at that, AAT said they could provide the EXACT same service/parts for about half of the estimate from Berkeys (which, obviously, was unnecessary). Being an HVAC neophyte, they could have EASILY told me that I needed a new unit, and I would have believed them and paid for it.
I'm never going to use anyone else for my HVAC maintenance & repair. Honesty goes a long way, in my book.

Complete joke. We called Berkeys and explained we thought we had a leak in our yard next to the water meter. Randall came out on Wednesday 5-26 to check of a leak. Once he arrived he discovered is compressor wasn't working and informed us he would not be back that day but would return on Thursday 5-27 - that was one wasted day. Randall arrived on 5-27 and located the leak, but stated he would not be able to fix it himself - another waste of a day. We promptly called Berkeys on 5-27 to schedule a crew to come and fix the leak. They told us they would call install and would call us back. We never heard back from Berkeys and called them back at noon on Friday 5-28. They informed us then no one would be out to fix our pipe until Tuesday 6-1 but assured us a crew would be out first thing in the am. Today is Tuesday 6-1 and no one showed up. We called Berkeys and were told we were not on the schedule and there was no record of us calling. The lady we were talking to on the phone put us on hold twice to speak with her manager, but when we asked to speak with the manager he suddenly wasn't available. Zero accountability. Poor leadership.
Called to get an indoor air quality test and they wouldn't even give me a price. Expected me to pay a $69 dispatch fee THEN the tech would give me a price. Ridiculous.
They are scam artists. They will give you a quote for the worst case scenario and if it turns out they only have to change one fitting, they will go ahead and charge you for the worst case. So I paid over $900 for one little fitting. I will not call them again.
Ridiculously expensive. Double the prices of almost everyone else. Tried to get me in an annual service plan and give me 30% off their ridiculous list prices. Paid their visit fee and sent them on their way. Wanted 400 bucks to fix a dimmer and a ceiling light...that's with the discount

Wish I would have looked on Yelp before using this company. Called in May to have them service our upstairs unit that was not blowing cold air. Tech came and pushed annual maintenance on me and told me repairs would be 15% off if I signed up for $99 plan. After spending more than $450 for a capacitor that runs for about $30-50, my unit was up and running. Then the maintenance guy came and checked out all three units. After he left, the main unit wasn't working. It was working before he came. He came back and said that the switch was broken off and he would hot wire it for me but it needed to be replace at a cost over $225. (a $2.00 part!!). My husband complained and they came back and fixed it for free. The gentlemen was NOT pleased with me and acted very rude. Fast forward to August. Same unit blower isn't cooling. I call them out for a $49 fee he told me the blower moter was out and it would cost $890 to replace! Balony! I called around and got it replaced the next day for $397. Now I have wasted $99 on the service agreement because they will NOT be coming back to my house and I wasted $49 on the service call. I understand that they have 2 price books. One for Southlake and Colleyville, and one for the rest of the service area. I understand overhead and the cost of doing business. But they won't be in business much longer if they keep price gouging. I have told many people to avoid them.

I called Berkeys out for a routine AC checkup, and the technician said I had rust on the evaporator coils on one of my units. AC appeared to be working fine, BUT they said it wouldn't last more than a year with it's age and gave me an estimate for 10-12k for each new unit. I asked for a detailed invoice, so I could separate the costs of the unit and labor, and see what unit they had planned to install.. they refused.. It's not how we do business. We do a flat rate. The units were approximately 10 years old, but I knew something was a bit fishy here.
I called another company to redo the work I just had done. They were told to do an AC checkup and inspected for anything wrong.. and they came up with very little.
Once they were done, we discussed the evaporator coils and the estimate I received.. and we had a good laugh. We both did a visual inspection in the evaporator section together. The technician assured me a bit of rust was normal and nothing to bother with, especially if it's working fine.
My opinion is Berkey's likes to scare people into buying new units, as is the case here and many of the reviews on google and BBB. You are warned.... BUYER BEWARE.
if you decide to use Berkey's... GET A 2ND OPINION, and save yourself cash money.
Good luck getting these guys to show up! We waited 2 days, they missed every promised service window, we finally cancelled the request and called someone else.
This company is a complete ripoff. Came here and tried to charge me over $700 to change out 2 breaker switches. Then said he'll give me a discount to $600. Are you kidding me??!! I paid the $70 so they can leave. Called the company that wired my house when it was built and charged $135 total for both switches and labor. Will never use this company ever. Get a second opinion people. Do not let these techs scam you.

Overall not a bad company, can't beat their BAM AC contract for 99.00 a year for multi units. If you have plumbing issues, good luck. Even if you are a BAM customer 2 days at best to come out. Experienced clogged drains multiple times and they can't come out for 2-3 days(Roto Rooter is out in 2 hours!). Had Berkey's come quote some tankless water heaters, plumber is definitely on a commission since he started at 15,000 for each, and then said if you commit today I can do it for 11,000 each. Said that's too high and he called the office and said his boss okay'd 9,000.00 each. Felt like I was buying a used car. They are definitely not hurting since moving in to a very large new facility in Southlake.
Hi, I just wanted to let you all know how pleased I am with the service I have received. Charles was my technician and was extremely polite, in which made me trust him. I felt very comfortable with the experience and won't hesitate to use you all again!
In my recent HVAC summer checkup, the technician discovered the air handler evaporation coil was leaking and needed a full system replacement. From a second opinion contractor suggested that the coils were leaking probably due to a lack of maintenance. As I have been under maintenance contract with Berkeys for the last 3-4 years and I do not recall that Berkeys ever cleaned the coils as is stated in the agreement. I called the office to discuss the issue but no response or callback. Not very happy.
I wish I would have read all the bad reviews of this company before I tried to use them. They are very expensive tried to charge me almost 3 times more for a water heater replacement than the company I ended up using. Also when they give you the 4 hour window that they are going to show up they will get there the last 10 minutes of that window, but if they call and you miss call they will immediately cancel appointment. I have been very disappointed with this company

Hired them to fix a leak in our shower. It was broken during installation. The 100% Guarantee was not honored. Charged us twice the amount to fix it.
AC charged $345 for a $75 dollar part stating the overhead was to cover things they break.

I wish I could give them no stars
I called them on a Sunday night needing help with a leaky shutoff. The tech came out and broke out a quote in which the numbers got progressively bigger with the largest at the bottom being 326. Ok, a little high but it is a Sunday night. He was here about an hour and replaced two shout off''s. Again, I thought he quoted me a 326 dollar price. He used about 25 ( at most) worth of material.
After a bout an hour he was finished and handed me a bill for 516 dollars!!! That's almost 500 dollars in labor for one hour of work.
I'll be speaking with some other companies tomorrow to find out what they would have charged. I'll then be contacting the BBB and the state licensing board to see if I can file a complaint with them.
BEWARE of this crooked company!!!! BEWARE !!!!!!!
Called Berkey's this morning because of an ac issue....tech was here by about 1:30. The tech was Tren Nguyen. He was friendly, courteous and professional. Tren had my issue resolved quickly. He is a great ambassador for your company! We will continue to use Berkeys for our ac, heating and plumbing issues.

Berkeys is a disaster. Called them to unstop a toilet, which they did.....for a whopping $410.00. Two days later I washed a load of towels and the toilet overflowed. Sewage everywhere. Cost several thousand dollars to clean it up. Had to remove carpet in living room, hall and two bedrooms. Removed lots of wet sheetrock. Seventeen blowers and two dehumidifiers the size of 55 gallon drums for three days. Three days of unbelievable noise. All my furniture, clothes and possessions in piles. It is costing $10,000 to fix. Thanks a lot Berkeys, not!
BEWARE: I've been a loyal Berkeys customer for many years and have been misled way too many times. First, they sold me on some inferior AC units that have been trouble year after year. A leaky faucet garnered a $2300 estimate to repair and replace the hand set.....though a trip to Ferguson Plumbing and we fixed it ourselves for $35 with a little ingenuity. This time it was a leaky shower head that came with a $1300 estimate to repair, not including the brick repair caused by going through the wall outside to fix the plumbing. A second opinion and repair cost only $54. It took me way too long to realize they're ripping people off. I Do Not Recommend using this company for anything. If you do, get a second opinion before spending needlessly.
I paid for the yearly service contract BAM and had a technician come out to service our air conditioning unit. He provided us with a list of items that needed to be completed immediately and serviced our unit. We got two other opinions and found out that we did not need air duct cleaning at this time. The Berkey's technician did not clean our outside unit. He advised our coil needed to be cleaned, but there is no way he even opened the box to view the coil as there was a strap around the door that had not been touched in some time. I called Berkeys on 3/13/22 to get my money back for the BAM service, and they advised that they would submit a case to Management and call me back within a few days. I have yet to hear back. This company is overpriced, even if you have the BAM service contract.
I called Berkeys Air Conditioning and Plumbing. I told the person who answered the phone that I had five broken sprinkler lines and that my sprinkler shutoff valve did not work and I needed it replaced. I told her that my house water was turned off and had been off for two days. I told her the valve was in the ground in a box with a green lid out by the street. She asked for clarification. I told her it was between the street and the side walk. I told her the valve was badly corroded and would be difficult to replace. She told me Berkeys should be able to change out the valve. She asked me to hold and then called her tech. She then got back with me and yes we can replace the valve. She then told me there would be a $150.00 service call as it was Sunday. I told her I would pay the $150.00 . About one hour later a gentleman driving a Berkeys vehicle arrived. He got out and introduced himself and asked if I needed the shutoff valve to my sprinklers replaced. I told him Yes he then replied we do not do any work related to sprinkler systems and said that will be $150.00. I could not believe it. He knew before he got to my house that he was not going to do any work. HE could have just called. What a disgusting situation and dissecting business. He did not bat an eye. His name was Jose and he did not even care. It seemed obvious top me he was just coming for the money. What a disgusting situation. You all should be ashamed. I really feel I made my self clear as to what I wanted done. I even told the lady, if you cannot do it, I will call someone else. I should have been given my money back. Terrible company. complete ripoff.
Use Berkey to replace a garbage disposal and tighten a bolt on a faucet, the job was done fine and in less than one hour. However, they changed $700 for one hour of work including the $70 disposal. I may need to change my profession to plumber. From now on I will stick to the small shops who would have charged at least half that price. It didn't help that the plumber smelled like a very full ashtray too.
We have the BAM contract and it is well worth the money. We always receive at least two coupons each year to apply towards any work. Always happy with HVAC tech, Greg.
I had Berkeys HVAC out in the Fall of 2019 and again this past June. We had an AC drain that was leaking, well literally flowing with water constantly. It left severe stains on our second level patio and our roof. In 2019, the tech said he cleaned the secondary drain and it would stop leaking. I think we paid $300-400 at the time. It never stopped leaking. We called again. This past June, the new tech gave us an estimate of over $1,400 to fix it. He said our AC was not level and required all of these major changes. I called another reputable HVAC company. A+ Comfort Air and Heating. They did an inspection and discovered that simply, the primary drain was clogged. They blew it out. Charged us $75 and it hasn't leaked since. The A+ guy even walked me through all of the units as well as where they drain to and gave me some simple things that I can do for maintenance. I am so upset with Berkeys that they kept telling us it was an expensive fix and we let that water drain for months on to our roof and second story patio. I don't trust Berkeys recommendations or their pricing whatsoever. I also had their HVAC and electric Memberships where you were supposed to get discounted services. Not worth it. I gave them two stars only because both tech's were nice, but again, I feel like they were trying to take advantage of me. (They also tried to sell me a very pricey duct cleaning) I knew Berkeys wasn't cheap but people had told me that they did great work. That is not the case. I am not sure what happened with them, but I would not even give them a call had I known what I know now.

Nine times out of ten they do a great job overall. They have technicians that are very knowledgeable at what they do...the only downside is Berkeys cost...as others have noted, they are expensive, but again; they get the job done well...
Can say enough about the service and professionalism of Berkeys Air Conditioning, Plumbing & Electrical. Thanks for everything!

I have been a loyal customer until recently. I purchased an AC unit and garbage disposal from Berkey's among other services. Recently, I had a leak in a faucet hose. I bought a kitchen faucet on my own and they replaced it for $268. While I the guy was at my house he looked at my water heater, and told me I needed a new one just by looking at it. He said it wasn't up to code etc. He gave me a quote for $1800. When I spoke to my Dad he asked if I had trouble with my hot water. I have lived in my home for 5 1/2 years and we have always had instant hot water. My Dad told me check with home depot b/c Berkey's price sounded high. Low and behold same warrant and size at Home Depot was $378-$618. Berkey's clearly takes advantage of loyal customers, and I will no longer recommend them or use them.

Steven Dickson performed an outstanding job yesterday replacing a part on my toilet..
I had an issue that I had been dealing with for months.
I highly recommend this business especially Steven.
I would definitely purchase their services again..
I called Berkey's Air Conditioning and Plumbing and several other plumbing companies to get an estimate to install a new water softener. Berkey's called me to schedule and explained to me that there would be a $69 trip charge to send someone out to give me an estimate. I was flabbergasted. None of the other companies charged to provide an estimate. I politely explained that I wasn't about to pay $69 to have someone come out and sell me something.
Ridiculous! I've never heard of such a thing and am not about to give these folks any of my money.
They have done ok in the past, but I felt scammed this past time. Our a/c unit upstairs seemed totally fine until their service guy came out for a yearly tuneup. (that, to me, seems like a time where they come out and try to sell u stuff!). Well, the guy tells me that our capacitor (a $40 or less small part) on the upstairs unit isn't running at FULL capacity but it's still OK... He doesn't make it sound like it will go out any day now!! So he leaves... As I said, EVERYTHING worked FINE up until now. I also leave house for lunch and errands. When I come home a few hours later, the upstairs is about 85 degrees and SOMETHING isn't right. I check the unit outside and it is making a hissing noise yet the fan isn't spinning inside. I figure maybe he forgot to plug a tube back in or something.
So- I call them to get back out asap and fix whatever happened, because it worked FINE before he came to our house and touched anything!! To their credit, they sent him back within the hour. HOWEVER-- GUESS WHAT?!?! You probably guessed. The CAPACITOR (that wasnt a major issue before) has conveniently broken and now must be replaced at about $200!!!!
Seems very very fishy to me!! I called. They said there is no way he could have purposely broken it, unless he hit it with a hammer. However-- how do I know he didn't take ours out before he left, and replace it with a bad one??? BEWARE of them- just be careful! Your units could be fine until they chime out to service them.

Berkey's in Fort Worth has been such a wonderful company to work with. Their customer service is exceptional, from the phone representative for scheduling to the onsite techs. Their online scheduling tool is also an easy way to get an appointment. The latest service call was for an AC unit. They replaced a capacitor and a fuse and were able to get the unit working for my mother, who is in her 90s. Tan, the technician, was professional, polite and identified and repaired the unit quickly.

The staff in not knowledgeable in all aspects of their business. They give out false information without even knowing it. They tried to come into my home without following Covid protocol. I would not recommend them.
My husband bought their service agreement, which included free A/C tune ups. They came out for a A/C tune up. The A/C worked, mind you, all they did was put in new filters, which we provided. They wanted us to replace our A/C for $23,000.00. We needed a regulator on the pool heater. They quoted $1,700.00. Really? They are overpriced. The average cost of a regulator is $160.00 installed.
We have all 3 memberships with Berkeys and scheduled our heater inspection 5 weeks in advanced. We get a call the day before to tell us they can't make it out in time and don't have another appointment available for another 3 weeks! I explained that we had made this appointment well in advanced and want to be rescheduled for the next day, which was not an option because other customers were a priority. I also explained that we have had 3 other scheduled services and are always the last on the list for the day usually very late in the day. I asked every time if we could be put at the beginning of the day, but was told by EVERY rep on the phone they don't do not do time slots, but the newest rep we just spoke to says you can request first day slots, which was NEVER mentioned by anyone else as an option.
We are usually understanding, but we do not have the time or time off to wait at home all day for a service especially something that was scheduled so far in advance. This is absolutely ridiculous and we won't be renewing our memberships.

I'm now a big fan of them. I had A#1 plumbing out and they looked at my toilet for 15 seconds and told me it had to be replaced and it would cost $500-700. I said no thanks and called Berkeys. Wally fixed it for $295 without having to replace anything. And they did it in 15 minutes. Great service. I will use them again.
The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is they were supposed to come yesterday but because of a form mix up (that they told me they needed 5 minutes before my technician was to come, and I returned to them 5 minutes later), they didn't come to my appointment when scheduled and eventually came the next day.
The BEST !!!!
These guys are AMAZING!!!
Kind ,Friendly, Clean picker uppers very neat workers. Very hard workers. Focused no small talk while they are supposed to be working just
Great Work!!! And FAST , DONE in one day !!
I'm not able to make a judgement on the price because we didn't get any Quotes it was a RUSH JOB furness died on the coldest part of winter and we wanted heat right now, but the workmanship is SUPERB !!!
Night and day better than the last company to install our A/C and heating system. Very professional and worked with us to ensure that we were happy with our setup. Flexible financing options available.
After a brief Berkeys inspection, my plumbing work was quoted at $1500, but could further be reduced to $1250 if I joined their club membership. What a poor attempt at a sales scam...I wrote them a check for the mandatory show up inspection cost of $69.00 dollars and asked them to leave. The work was finished by a reputable plumber for $450.
Had Hvac tech come out to work on my heater that was clicking. He did something to my electric panel, which he wanted to upgrade for $6000, and my inside furnace unit. Not long after he left there was the smell of plastic burning. Several wires that he had just fixed were melted and hot. Had another Hvac tech come out and the whole wiring harness needs to be replaced due to the work done by Berkeys. Of course the parts aren't available so a whole new furnace is needed at the cost of about $6000. Do not use these guys. What should have been a simple wire replacement has turned into a very very costly mistake for me. And still no heat. I am sick that they have not accountability for the damage and costs they've let me with.

I too wish I would have read these reviews before contacting these folks. We had used them for a heater problem, they charged $200 to come out on Christmas Eve, (holiday?, I had to work). Guess we should have known. We had a broken water faucet, called around 8PM, plumber came around 9, was done by 10:30, $600 and some change. Really quite ridiculous. He did tell us up front, but what can you do at 9:00 at night when you've shut of the water, guess that's there attitude too, GOT YA!

Your appointment with Berkeys Air Conditioning Plumbing and Electrical has been confirmed. That's the message I received from them for today's appointment. We waited all day for them. No one came! No one called. PS. I'm in Arlington, TX.
On two occasions I have had the displeasure of having this company to come to my house... the first gentleman was slightly rude and offsetting... the second today was condescending and rude... I requested service on my air condition under my service agreement... I was aware of the state of my unit when I purchased my home 2 years ago... the new owner who is purchasing my home, as is, has had the home inspected and will be purchasing the unit in no less of ware and tare then I did... however, when the Berkeys technician BRANDON wanted to discuss the issues with me... I guess his customer service training included the addition of his vast experience and advice on what he thought with regards to the sale of my house... was I using a real estate agent... um yea, the sign is in the yard... and was I expecting the home warranty to replace the unit... then while my air conditioning is running... he's telling my unit is working... while it's blowing 64 in my house... gtf outta here with that crap.... yes there are issues with the unit... do they need repair today... no.... just like they didn't when I bought the house 2 years ago....the new owner can, when needed, make the repairs themselves...
Listen, there are ways to talk to customers... if you want to be treated with respect... call another company.
Carlos was great we kept us up to date giving us a few calls before the visit time while he was on other jobs, explained everything very well and was patient, showed me what he found with the camera and everything about the visit was extremely professional....ohhh by the way he was able to fix our plumbing issue same day and pretty fast! Thanks to him we signed up for the yearly membership! As long as Carlos works for Berkeys they'll have our buisness!
Horrible customer service. Bought a complete AC system approx $20,000 a year ago. Called customer service twice and never got a return call. Finally a week later at 95 degrees a repair person came and said he had to get a coil from the manufacturer. Promised to order the part and call back next day to schedule an install date. He actually said he was off work on vacation for a week. Surprise! No call back. Technician said we are a big company. It's just what we do. Never ever buy from this company. Horrible customer service.
We've used Berkeys now on several occasions from installing a tankless water heater to unstopping a drain line and they have always exceeded our expectations. They do what they say they'll do and charge what they say they will. We like them a lot.
Called Berkeys to come fix my outdoor AC unit that was not turning on. On the call they said it will be $69... did not mention any other diagnostic fee. The repair guy comes out and starts looking at my doors and windows all sort of things and in the end charges $278 for major diagnostic on top of the $69. Wrote up over $5000 in repairs. I asked for just the bare minimum to get the AC back and running. He quoted the capacitor charge of $442 and claimed the outdoor motor was also broken charging $1,084 (I will verify whether it was actually broken and update my post here). The capacitor costs $24 and takes ten minutes to replace so charging over $400 is outrageous. This is very unfortunate, legal robbery of people who are desperate to repair their AC in 105 degree weather.

Berkey's has gone downhill. We have used them in the past to connect to city sewer, 2nd floor AC and had been happy. We just used them to replace main floor AC, and had a very bad experience. It took 6 different appointments to complete the install and get the city of Southlake to approve only to have the new unit stop working 4 hours after they left the 6th time. This was due to no one ever checking the drain pipe was open for the condensation. Instead the installer continuously blamed the city for not knowing what they were doing. Too bad he didn't check his colleagues work. The fix of the drain pipe took 2 more appointments to fix. During the scheduling of all of these appointments we experienced where no one actually contacted the city to show up, or trying to say a technician was so far away (Richardson) that he couldn't make it Southlake in rush hour traffic, or was more than an hour outside the promised window without a call to update. I left messages for the Service Manger multiple times and the president of the Southlake branch, Jamie Wooldridge and have not received a call back from any of them. Considering we have spent $30K with Berkey's in the last ten years, they are clearly not focused on Customer Satisfaction or Customer Loyalty.

I scheduled an appointment with them several weeks ago. On the day of the appointment they called and said they were sorry but need to reschedule. I was very flexible and understanding and we scheduled a new date and I asked for morning so I didn't have to commit an entire day waiting. I received a call that day at 7pm after waiting an entire day telling me that they were unable to come out. At this point I'm agitated but I rescheduled for a few days later and asked for morning again. Four days have passed and I still haven't heard from them.
I have spent well in excess of five figures with this firm. Apparently, if you want a roulette wheel of a service organization, maybe they will show up, maybe they will call.... this is your firm.

UPDATE to my earlier review... I was contacted by Kelly Weeks the plumbing service manager for Berkeys this morning. We discussed my complaint on the bill the tech worked up after the job was complete.I had asked the scheduler for a estimate and she said the tech would have that info. Upon the techs arrival I had asked for a quote and he said he would figure that after the work was done okay I needed my problem solved which the tech Jeremy did a great job on capping the supply line . When I was contacted by Kelly Weeks from Berkeys he informed me the tech should have given us a total price for the job he was going to do and we should of signed a pre work quote that didn't happen. So Mr Weeks informed me since we didn't get the pre work quote they are refunding my Mom for the complete amount. This resolution seems very fair to me since the tech did not give us the pre work quote that we should have gotten and signed before the work began. Mr Weeks has done a great job of standing behind what should of happened before the work was done. I have a renewed view of Berkeys after they made right of what happened yesterday. Thanks to Mr Kelly Weeks.
I have used them twice now-- both times in the middle of summer with AC out. They were able to come on same day I called, reasonable prices, professional, courteous employees-- on phone and in person.. I will definitely keep them in my file of great companies.
very professional and flexible service. They came when they promised and delivered. Edward was very professional and knowledgeable.
Called for a routine AC checkup. Scheduled appt was from 0900-1300. Received a call at 0748 and was told that the technician was on his way. My kids came downstairs while getting ready for school and told me that the upstairs was very hot. Upon inspection, I found that the recently installed Nest thermostat was not working. I knew that I needed to replace the Nest with the old thermostat prior to the arrival of the technician Jorge. I obviously did not have time. He arrived and told me that the thermostat needed to be changed in order for him to check the unit. I began working on it as he stood by and watched. I was having difficulty with one of the wires and asked if he could assist me and his response was no, not without charging a $149 service fee. Really? For connecting ONE wire?? Next, I need to troubleshoot your upstairs unit sir and that will be $149 service fee. The findings was a blown fuse. The charge for a fuse $23!!!!! The customer service was terrible and I would not recommend this company to anyone. It is all about the money!! Do your research!
Berkeys made it easy to get it fixed and it was done fast! When it comes to plumbing I can't recommend anyone besides Berkey. They did a very thorough job in figuring out and fixing our issues. I was very pleased with his knowledge on my specific needs and repairs. I would definitely recommend Berkeys for anyone looking for high caliber company!
Bad experience.
Do NOT use!!!
They are only interested in selling you a service 'package and selling their systems.
I thought I would give them a second chance after they did a poor job of installing A/C units.
Had them call and text several times within 5 minutes. I responded in the text to send out the tech. My next text was I'm going to send the tech. elsewhere. After several disruptions to both myself and wife at work I called and told them to send out a tech. I took another 10 minutes before they agreed to send out a tech.
Would not recommend this company to anybody. Please do not hire them. We had an emergency, where the bathtub mixing valve cartridge broke. The bath water would not shut off, so my wife called this company because we were not able to find a way to open the water meter shut off valve and we needed someone to help shut off the water. As we were waiting for them to show up, I was able to find a way to shut off the water. l was able to take all of the parts to the mixing valve off while waiting, as well. Berkley's showed up about 1.5 hours after we called and they service tech was able to pry the cover lid off of the water meter and he shut off the water. After uncomfortable and awkward small talk, he looked at the bathtub faucet and said he has the part to replace it and said it would be $350 on top of the $150 emergency service call. I told him that I didn't think any plumbing part cost $350, and his response was very sarcastic and unprofessional. He explained that the part was about $60 and Berkley's marks up the part and then charges the rest to labor. I told him no thanks and I would pay him for the emergency call only. He walked into the living room and unbelievably told my wife, well, no water for you. This comment was so rude and uncalled for. Very unprofessional. He never explained what the actual problem was or what he would do to fix it. I was able to buy the part, which was a Moen cartridge for $40, and it literally took 2 minutes to replace and install. Again, they were going to charge $350 to do this!
I wish I could leave negative stars. Watch out for these folks unless you have money to burn. One of their servicemen came out to check on an electrical issue we were having. By the way, I don't fault the serviceman at all. He told us how much it would cost and we were floored, $545.00 for a fan motor, this was after charging us $190.00 for the initial service call and this amount was not going to be deducted from the $545.00. The best part is you are not given an invoice at that time, that is emailed to you later so the full impact of what they are doing to you doesn't hit you until after they are gone. In my original invoice I was charged $69.00 for a so called Dispatch Fee then in addition I was charged $121.00 for a minimum charge Exam. Needless to say, once I saw the invoice and realized how I was being gouged I cancelled having them do my repairs. I'm still out the $190.00 for the initial visit but I got the repairs made for less than half of what they tried to get out of me. Please shop around for a more reputable company
It appeared my thermostat stopped working. I thought I could tough it out (shouldn't it be getting cooler) but I'm a wuss.. Around 2pm I was HOT and my bird was sad :( I contacted another company and they couldn't come out until Monday, upon their recommendation I called Berkeys. John Martinez came out and was very nice, had it working in a jiffy and I was only charged the inspection fee. I was happy and my bird was happy! John stuck around to make sure the place was cooling down properly, he also opened other vents so there isn't possible issues in the future with back flow. I couldn't be happier and would certainly use them again (hopefully that won't be necessary)
These guys do not fool around. They get into the task, get it done, and clean up after themselves. They don't try the hard sell for the extra products or services, which I appreciate.
SUPPLEMENTAL:
I had a second appointment yesterday with another technician from their plumbing dept. not only was he able to fix my bathroom leak, he very generously offered me a part to my downstairs toilet that I needed to go to Home Depot to buy. Not only that, he even installed it for me on his own time for no cost. I was very grateful and will definitely be using Berkey's in the future as long as their visits go as smoothly as they have so far!
I was happy to see Chris again at my doorstep almost two years after our last encounter. He does a great job, doesn't try to upsell me products or components I don't need, and he's very fast and professional. Thanks again to both Chris and Berkey's!
Chris (A/C) and John (electrician) have both been very professional and helpful service technicians . I've used Berkey's in the past for plumbing issues, and now I've used them for A/C and electric repairs as well. They've done a great job on all fronts. Thank you guys and stay well!

I don't normally write reviews, but I really had to in this case. I called Berkeys over a month ago to schedule a tune-up. I was interested in purchasing the service plan they had as well. They couldn't get us in until 7/7. I was fine with this. Just got a call (day before they were supposed to come out)where they are canceling on me. The next available date is 8/2. I understand that there have been a lot of service calls, but how can I guarantee that they won't cancel on me on 8/1? I'm a new client. Needless to say, I went with another company. Lee Air Services is able to get me in on 7/14. Super Disappointed.
They wanted $2813 to install a gas water heater. Lowes charges $953, plus they offered us a 10% rebate in the form of a gift card. Pretty easy choice. I am convinced the second they see a big house, the rates triple. I could buy three water heaters from Lowes and pay less than what they wanted for one. What a rip off.

If I could give zero stars I would. I called Berkeys to do an inspection of my hvac and furnace because we are putting our house on the market. Mind you, everything works great. Our AC cools the house and the furnace keeps it nice and toasty. The technician started selling the minute he walked in. In the end, he informed me that I had a whole list of issues and it would be $10,000 to repair it or $11,000 to replace the AC. I have a 1500 square foot house and wouldn't need a unit larger than 4 tons. I can purchase a 4 ton unit for anywhere from $5,000 to $8,000. I have no idea where he got the $11,000 amount. That's insane.
I called someone else for a second opinion. This other company was reputable and repaired a few items and charged me $522. He said my units were in good working condition. Afterwards I told him about the other technician and what they tried to pull. He said Let me guess who it was. Was it Berkeys? I was shocked he named them right off. He said I wasn't the first person that had a bad experience with them.
I would NOT recommend using Berkeys.

My 14 year old Carrier unit started acting up today (07/07/18)... the compressor was running but the house was only getting hotter. Called Berkeys (based on Home Advisor reviews) and requested emergency after hours service - TJ showed up in TWENTY MINUTES. Awesome. Dominoes doesn't even have that kind of response time! Tested everything out to find the problem, explained it all as he went along, and was super courteous the entire time.
Thankfully just the capacitor had gone out. TJ was able to replace it with a new spare he had on hand in the truck and BOOM the house is now cooling again. Total turnaround time was like 45 minutes. How cool is that!
10/10 Will use again.
I had Berkey's come by to inspect our plumbing prior to our 1 year home owners anniversary. Dewayne Wallace was the Plumbing Technician that came by. He was prompt, professional, nice and most importantly, very knowledgeable. He offered various suggestions that will come in handy. I recommend Berkey's and Dewayne in particular.

I originally signed up with Berkeys for their spring and fall HVAC maintenance visit. This morning, I woke up with no heat. Berkey's was able to come out the same day, was extremely knowledgable, and had the issue fixed in no time. Roger from Berkeys was professional, friendly, and took time to explain the issue and solution.
I contacted Berkeys in Southlake, TX to get an estimate.
Day One - Waited all day and no one showed. At 4:30pm they called to say the technician was finishing up and would be on his way shortly. (Don't you hate getting an all day, 9-5 appointment only to have them arrive after 5). I requested a reschedule since he hadn't even left the previous appointment. They assured me I would be the very first appointment right after the morning meeting around 9-9:30am.
Day Two - Waited until 10:30am. Called Berkey's. Asking why the technician hasn't arrived. Explained the commitment Berkey's made regarding the appointment. I was told that the technician was at another customers finishing up some work. Cancelled the appointment.
I think the schedulers and dispatchers might need a team-building session.
We just had our Frisco house's plumbing serviced by Berkeys yesterday and it was a very positive experience. Dewyane was professional, extremely knowledgeable and attentive, and it was pleasure working with him. We highly recommend Berkeys because of our top-notch experience. Great job!
Beckets is great! I needed them to check my circuit breaker as it tripped while I was out of town, resulting in my refrigerator going out. Tim came and checked everything out AT NO CHARGE! Talk about great customer service. I will always use Berkeys. When Tim installed my circuit breaker panel he carefully labeled each circuit!
less you want to pay $500 an hour stay far way from these guys. bought a new dishwasher from home depo with installation for a rent house. Home depo was going to charge $140 to install and haul away old unit. They could not install due to a totally messed up water valve. So we called Berkeys to fix the valve and install the dishwasher. Would not give estimate over the phone so charged us $69 to do a site estimate. They wanted $1000.00 to do the job. Told them to forget it. I drove 3 hours to the property and did the whole job in 2 hours and i am not a plumber. Did call another plumber before driving up he wanted $150 to replace the valve but did not install dishwashers to i decided to just do it myself. Can't say if Berkeys does good work, but I can say if you use them you are getting over charged.
I wish my latest experience was consistent with the extensive work I had done last year. I called Berkeys to fix a leaky faucet and separately a leaky shower head. The technician that did show up on time took a few minutes to review what needed to be done and then approached me with an estimate, which for the work seemed fair. The next part is where any good feelings started to vanish. He then offered me the option to have the work for the shower head covered if we would purchase a Flow Tech Max Anti-Scale System. I asked him what it was and why he thought we needed one. I also asked what the charge was for one. He told me that it would cost $1500 to have it installed however it would eliminate any future calcification on the shower or faucets moving forward. To be honest I was highly skeptical and I made the tongue in cheek comment well I guess I know what the bonus is wrapped around this month which garnered a small smile from the technician. In any case, the work was going to offset the couple hundred dollars worth of shower work, so I took him at his word that this would have long term benefits and we proceeded. He completed the installation of the unit in about 30 minutes (maybe an hour), I wasn't keeping track but it was pretty quick. He then went to work on the faucet that was leaking. He said he would need to order parts, but that he would call within the week to come install them. This visit was now 2 or 3 months ago. The tech never called and my faucet still leaks. Additionally, the white residue which I thoroughly cleaned from every fixture using CLR after he left still persists as much as ever. Now I do have a fancy unit sitting on the wall that shows a silly heartbeat graphic, but I feel like I've been taken advantage of by being upsold on a gimmick and that was followed up with poor service. It's worth noting that Berkeys is not the cheapest place in town, but I didn't mind paying more because I trusted their honest, high quality approach. But in this case, I paid about $2000 for a toy on the wall and a fixed dripping shower head. Buyer beware.

Jesus dropped by and fixed our A/C unit. Thank you Jesus.
Berkeys have been over to the house a couple times now- nice guys and always wear those footie guards when walking around inside- very classy.
The girls in the office ALL have nice phone voices. And are very helpful
My AC is 14 years old. It needs a tune up but because it is so hot they would only come to inspect my unit. Last year they want to replace my unit at 12 k and I oped for a 1700 bandaid. No problem through that summer. So far this summer hot hot hot still doing well but I did notice some late night difficulties. Had them out today and all the tech could tell me I need a new unit for 15k. Wow. It stills work fine during the day. I will be shopping them tomorrow and most likely not using them any more. I have been a great customer for about 28 years. Spent tens of thousands on up grades when needed. They have become a up sale company. No longer the company they used to be. Good riddance Berkey's. I really hate this but I need to move on.
I had a attic water heater burst, and Berkeys was the first place I called that could come out that morning to stop it from raining in my house. (first two places I tried was two day wait!) They got it turned off, and then came back later that day and replaced all of it. While not cheap, I dont feel like it was out of line for emergency service and same day work.

LOST TOUCH WITH CUSTOMERS - there is a serious disconnect between the individuals you speak with on the phone to set-up your appointment and the technicians sent to your home. I scheduled a four hour window for a check-up on my AC. They showed up an hour later than the scheduled end time (frustrating) and had failed to listen to me when I'd called previously with specific instructions required for my unit (e.g. you need a specific ladder size).
I recommend you take your business elsewhere.
All I will say is always get a second opinion after you get a quote from Berkeys. Like the previous review, I had my annual complimentary heating/air inspection and, for the 2nd time in 2 years, I was left with a quote to replace all of my units for a price double that of a reputable competitor. Also just had a recent experience where the technician tried to sell and negotiate a job price, which I think is a conflict of interest. Let the technicians do their job and defer negotiations and escalations to their manager. How can I trust a technician if I feel like he tried to make a profit on a service call?
Used them for Electric and Plumbing and AC until they came out during the bad freeze to replace a hot water heater. They charged me $5,700 for it. All of my neighbors were charged under $3,000. I emailed them twice for an explanation and never received any response!
Another week later and Berkeys has not called to follow up on my complaint as promised by their supervisor. Disappointed

Worst ever plumber that just tries to make money off you. Paid for a clog after hour charge ($150) plus ($475) for 30min snake run and main pipe still clogged. Want to charge more and more after told them it's more clog another ($79) to tell me he wants to charge me more. Stay away if you don't want to get ripped off. Never ever again. Don't say you haven't been warned.
I hired them for air conditioning service a few times and the last experience was downright trashy. The technician lied about what was wrong with our unit and kept piling on charges, when we asked for price guarantees on the replacement parts and that his services would fix the problem, the technician threatened to flag our house and rip out the new parts installed. All in all terrible service. The constant sales pitches to purchase their new HVAC system is exhausting. We will not be using this company again.
8/30/14. Extremely poor communication by the technician Dan. We were told by Berkeys our window from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and the tech would call 30 minutes prior to the call. Dan shows up at 6:15 PM without calling. Looked at AC units, told us the coils were frozen and needed to thaw. He would be back in a hour or so he had another call close by, this was 6:30 PM. At 9:45 PM I have heard nothing from the tech Dan. I called Berkeys, then another tech Roger calls, saying Dan is on another call, I said to send over another tech, Roger said no, I asked if they were under staffed this evening, he didn't answer, I asked again, he hung up. The tech Dan finally showed up at 11:00 PM. All of this could have been avoided if Berkeys field tech were properly trained to communicate with the customer, who pay the bills. In my case none of this happened. If they are trained to communicate to the customer, then Dan and Roger failed miserably. The upfront information given by Berkys, lead to an expectation of professional service wasn't present. I will not use there company again and I let as many people I know to avoid this company.
They were helpful and honest to me. Found nothing wrong with my AC, but helped me fix the calibration and suggested other reasons for why it may not be cooling like it should.

My husband called Berkey's to help us with a plumbing situation. The technician came out and told us it would be over $1200. I called another plumber and he fixed the problem for $185. After reading some of the other Yelp reviews, I can see this is standard fare for them. I used Berkey's once before, and now feel like I was probably overcharged. I will never use them again.
After thousands of dollars over several years, the Berkey's technician showed me one more leak that had to be fixed. So this time I got a second opinion as Berkey's could never show me anything I could actually see as a problem. The second opinion couldn't find the Berkey identified leak. But he could show me a leak that was obvious to me. He fixed it and I've had no more issues. I won't use Berkey's again. (And have you noticed that there are only 5 star ratings on their site?)
I have had a maintenance service agreement for many with Berkey's Plumbing and AC service. Each year they would inspect the heating, AC and plumbing of my home. The main purpose is of course for upselling services. At times, they have replaced a garbage disposal, repaired my AC unit, and other services as needed. As of September 23 2013 my water heater leaked and caused substantial damage to my flooring and replacement of the water heater. My concern was that the current code is Ft Worth is for a drain pan with a drain value to be installed and this code has been for sometime. When I contacted Berkey's their response was that although they acknowledge inspections have been completed they are not required to make recommendations for water heaters out of compliance. (According to their checklist) and only if the water heater is needing to be replaced will they bring it up to code. As a lay person, how am I to know what the compliance is and furthermore how should I know what a water heater requires? Jeff Sims , the plumbing manager told me that they only go by their checklist. After spending years of a service agreement and assuming Berkey's is performing maintenance I now have a water heater which leaked. And if Berkey's (during their inspection) would have recommended a pan and value it would have saved me thousands of dollars in home repairs. Berkey's did come out and recommend a new water heater with a pan for $1900. Berkey's has ripped me off for the last time. Consumers need to be aware of their poor service, their lack of customer satisfaction, and their denial of any liability.
I proposed to Jeff that they pay for the water heater I had installed plus reimburse me the $89 for their service call. Jeff said he would be in contact with the president,
Jamie Wooldribge who denied my requests.
Our 10-yr. old smoke detectors started failing (chirping) while I was out of the country on business. My wife reflexively called Berkey's who have taken good care of our HVAC needs. Technician, Jake Burton quickly turned up and prepared three (3) estimates; $1,370 for a home surge protector (didn't want/need one), $525 for a whole house ground rod (we have one, perhaps he didn't bother to look) and $3,500 to replace 14-smoke/CO2 detectors! I called Jake to ensure that I had this right. He told me that he doesn't set their prices but as Club Berkey's Members this outrageous quote included ann. inspections and batt changes (I do that myself).
My wife purchased the detectors at Lowe's ($538) and paid a handyman to replace them ($175). Our total spend was $713 or 20% of Berkey's $3,500 quote.
I wonder how much of this overinflated, upsell scam effort was because my wife was left to deal w/ this issue. I'm disgusted with this extortionist approach and how the Tech simply pointed the finger at his colleagues who set the prices leaving nobody accountable.
We called them just to service our AC unit and add Freon. He didn't even check anything and just told us we needed a whole new unit and it would cost $12,000. Called another company and found out there was nothing wrong with our AC unit and all we needed was Freon like we thought! Total con artist!

My friend had a water heater issue and got an estimate from Berkeys. She show me and my jaw drop. It was over $10,000.00!!!
I searched same gallon and same brand, at HD sells for $690.
Please get an estimate with other company after you get one from this company.
Ripped off on 2nd appointment. Was overcharged and the guy added to the job without giving me a quote. I received a huge bill. The company made a slight adjustment but not inline with what I should've paid. I would give them a 1 star, but they did come out another time before and they sent a guy named Brandon. He's a stud, so ask for him if you are going to use Berkeys.
I wish I would have looked up this site before I made the mistake of calling Berkeys.
They took advantage of me and $1832.00 of my money. When I called Berkeys I explained the problem some a/c specialist came and look at my a/c he said I needed a plumber after he took $99.00 from me (just to come tell me I need a plumber) he sent a Berkeys plumber. The plumber came told me what I needed to have done, it will cost me $1728.00 I explained to the berkeys plumber that I did not have that kind of money and I would have to get a loan. He promised a GUARANTEED that this will take care of the problem, then charged me $49.00 for coming. The next day two other berkeys plumbers came and spent 2 hrs. in my attic, cut a whole in one of my bathrooms and left, but first they collected $1724.00 from me. After they left I went to clean the BIG MESS they left in my home. AND I noticed the problem was still there!!! I called their office I told the lady that answers the phone that I had just given them $1832.00 and they had not fixed anything. She sent ANOTHER Berkeys AC specialist he went up to look at the work his co-workers had completed all I saw was a look of disappoinment on his face, he went outside to make a call. He came back and told me that what they fixed was not my problem, that I need a part to my unit and this will only cost me $5000.00 .. I started crying (I can't help it I cry when I get angry) I told him I just gave you over $1800.00 which is money I did not have to fix something that was not broken and now you want $5000.00??? he did not say anything...I still have a broken ac, water leaking thru my ceiling, and a $1832.00 debt. PLEASE don't call them...Berkeys is unethical and unprofessionalThey will steal your money! I will leave this one to GOD, he will take care of people like this...

ANSWER TO MS. GAYE
Thank you for your offer Gaye, BUT NO!! why would I want the same Incompetent thieves to come in to my home and take advantage of me again?
Beykeys should have diagnosed the problem properly from the beginning, not come up with speculations and since the problem was not fixed after $1824.00 you came up with another diagnostic. I find it so ironic Gaye that you sent a total of five (5) Men to my home and neither one of them was able to tell me the that there was a problem with the coil, I did not hear anything about a coil problem until I called you upset the following day after you had drafted my bank account... That is very unethical and shows your lack of morals. So please take my hard-earned $1824.00 and use it as a stepping-stone to what people like you deserve!

To replace just a capacitor on 5 ton carrier heat pump I was charged $583. Freon recharge (3 pound of R410A), the service man charged $175 per pound almost $530! I could not get an itemized explanation on why I was overcharged by this much! Cost of a capacitor is about $13 to 30 depending in the brand, this man charge over $500 for a 5 min capacitor replacement job? Will never do business with them again and will surely let their management know this is unethical.
on 2/27/2019 i called berkeys to fix a water leak in a copper pipe manifold. the leak was located about 5 above the foot plate (a foot plate is the 2x4 that your wall studs are nailed, then nail to the foundation). the fee was $987. the pumber claims to have tried to fix the leak. he explained that he was unable to make repairs because this leak was so close to the foundation that he couldn't get a good solder on the pipe. he then explain a more entailed fix was to knock out my foundation because of rusting cooper pipes(cooper doesn't rust). along with the foundation, the ceiling drywall, vanity and possible tile damage in the master bath to attach perks plastic pipe rerouting the water lines. Cost is now $3875. BUT, if i bought a membership for $600 the price would be $3395, REALLY! the cost of the other repairs to the drywall, master bath would be my out of pocket expense to a contractor. to make a long story shorter my water leak was fixed for $200 by splicing the same cooper water pipe as previously discussed with no damage to the foundation or master bathroom.
CAN YOU SAY UPCHARGE!!!!! my credit card was billed $1987 a charge that im still as of this post trying to resolve.
WORD TO THE WISE?
DONT USE BERKEY'S FOR ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a service agreement with Berkey. The technician Caleb, was so friendly and professional. He even contacted me after to confirm that everything was running correctly. Thank you so much!

Had this company come to my house last year and they did a really bad job. They overcharged and I believe actually did not do anything. They threw in a preventive plan that typically costs $100 to make up for some of the really bad service. This year they called and scheduled a PM for my AC units. The guy missed his 4.5 hour window and I had to leave for work. My son was at home and let him in to do the PM. He called me at work later and told me that my downstairs unit did not work and the upstairs was leaking. He said he did not want to try and fix but both should be replaced estimate 15K. I told him thanks and have a nice day. I used my downstairs unit that was supposedly broken that very morning and again when i got home. Obviously, he did not even check or totally incapable. I knew when he called me that he was not speaking truthfully. He was rude and spoke to me like I was an idiot. I called a second company and paid again for the visit. The second company said my downstairs unit is old but working fine with no leaks. He said the upstairs unit had a leak and gave me some options on what to do next. He spoke to me in plain English with no crazy AC techie terms. So, moral of the story, I will never use Berkys again. They cheated me previously on the price and service. In my opinion they gave me a free PM plan last time to simply to come back and cheat me again. I will NEVER use this company again. I would steer all away if I could. Bad, undependable, not to be trusted, cheats, and overpriced.

They came out to check a clogged shower and bathtub. After looking at it and trying to snake it we were told that the pipes were bad and we needed new pipes put in (a $7,000-$12,000 job) and then billed us $339 for coming out to check the drain and tell us the bad news. We had another business come out,(Mark Ondras) and they fixed the problem in 30 minutes and only charged us $120. I don't trust Berkeys, I think they are trying to sell you on more thank you need.
I recently hired Berkeys Plumbing to help with my kitchen renovation. They had to hook up the gas line for our new stove (there was already gas there, but it hadn't been on in years), install my dishwasher, install a valve for the water to the icemaker, install a new disposal and install the kitchen faucet. We had 3 quotes before deciding to hire them. It was the highest quote, but my husband was most comfortable with the plumber that came and gave us the quote so we went with it. My husband was also told that this same plumber would be doing the job. They were supposed to arrive at 9:00 and didn't arrive until 10:45 am. Two very sharp looking men showed up (no plumbers crack) and looked to be in their mid to late 20's. It was NOT the man who gave the quote. They started working, after about 3 hours they left for lunch and were gone approximately 90 minutes. Folks, they did not leave until almost 9:30 that night!!!!!! Two men all day and they couldn't get the job done within a reasonable amount of time? For a lot of the day it seemed they were on the phone. I don't know if they were asking for advice or what, but that was completely unacceptable!!!! They cut into the wall for the box that they were installing behind the refrigerator and left a huge hole in the sheet rock. It was 4 times the size of the box. An experienced plumber would have cut the hole just enough to fit the box. They informed us that they don't repair walls that was not part of their service. They sure didn't tell us that before they started the work. There was a problem with the faucet, and although it wasn't working, it was leaking under the sink in my brand new custom wood cabinets after they left. The following evening the original plumber who we thought would be doing the job came out. He stayed a couple of hours and made sure everything was good. However, I feel like I would have rather gone with one of the other plumbers. They were not worth the HUGE bill. Do yourself a favor and pass on their service and go with someone who has dirt under their fingernails, has a few more years of experience and who will give you a reasonable price and do the work within a reasonable amount of time.

I had a a broken cartridge...it took 30 minutes to remove. I did need a new cartridge but the other shower parts were on hand. The technician charged $450 for 1 hour of work and a $30 part. I just don't trust companies that take advantage of situations. An honest plumber would have charged $200/$250 at the most for this job...
The invoice said he rebuilt the valve, I'm not sure if that is synonymous with replacing a cartridge, in the plumbing world.
I was told that if I signed up for the $99 membership, it would be $50 cheaper...Just because I signed something saying do the work and get out of my house doesn't mean my recommendation was bought...
The work was done correctly and the tech was fine....but there are plenty of quality plumbers...call someone else...
Absolute WORST company. Been a loyal customer for over 10 years and the customer service is horrible. Paid for Electrical and Plumbing BAM service and was RIPPED OFF. Won't call me back, won't refund my money, did not show up for repair or schedule service. DO NOT WASTE your money with this company.

I had them out and was told I need a motor replaced and a fan blade. We were also told the unit was from 2007 even though the house was built in 2010. Their bill was going to be about 900 to fix. I had Optimum AIr co come out and they told me all that needed to be replaced was a fan blade, which was still under warranty I believe. I only got charged the service call!! Optimum Air is the way to go. Stay away from Berkeys!! So sad!!
I have given Berkeys 3 stars for the pleasant and professional plumber that replaced my kitchen faucet. Unfortunately, a 5 star rating is not possible due to pricing. The charge for replacing a $40.00 kitchen faucet came to $350.00. No other work was involved to account for the increased price. The final invoice was adjusted for a total charge amount of $277.00 which was much appreciated but in my opinion is still a bit steep for service rendered.
Well I am glad I looked at Yelp tonight before moving forward with a hot water heater installation tomorrow. I arrived home to water running out of my garage and a hot water heater leak. Decided to pay their $150 service charge to come sour and look at it. They deemed my tank not repairable and that I needed a new one. Fortunately they did not have one on the truck... Or I would have forked out over $1800 for the repair. You heard correctly. It is a 40 gallon gas tank. They discounted my service fee to $89 if I bought their $99 maintenance plan. I agreed and they are supposed to call me back tomorrow to schedule the repair. After sending a Facebook shout to my homeowners association (and yes I did use the service provider name) I was told that there is no way it should cost that much. I proceed my heater AO Smith for around $500 and that is a top rated heater. That would make around a $1000 labor cost!!!! Beware buyer! Check reviews! You might end up saving yourself a $1000!!!!
Classic bait-and-switch. Offered $123 drain cleaning deal on Angie's List, spoke on phone and confirmed the $123 deal, tech showed up pretty late in the day and said he could only do it for 3x the amount of deal. I explained that I wouldn't need his service without the original deal price. He said to qualify for the deal, a clean out port would need to be located directly under the problem sink, which is complete nonsense. I have a clean out port on the side of the house very close to this bathroom sink. But not one under the sink. He told me it was not possible to use that clean out port, even though it's exactly what the deal describes.
He came back and said manager told him if he could go through the sink with snake, I would qualify for $123 deal. But removing the trap under the sink would make it full price. I said it takes 30 seconds to remove the trap, I'll go do it for you right now. He stood by the full price. Said if he had to go under the sink, it would still be full price. Complete nonsense. If I remove the p-trap and expose the pipe for him, I have no idea how a clean out port at that location makes his job any easier.
Definitely do not recommend. I think they were hoping I was more desperate for their service than I am. I'd be curious how many people have clean out ports under their upstairs bathroom sinks. I suspect not very many people actually qualify for this fake deal.

Worst place EVER! Called 6PM one nite for water heater. They set up appointment. Called back minutes later and said they didn't have appointments. Made one for the following morning between 8 and noon. Well, here we sit at 3:30pm and still NO ONE!!! After several phone calls we made to them to find out what is going on and each time being told they are on their way we are still without hot water! Thanks Berkeys but you should be called Jerkeys!!!!!!!!!

I highly recommend Berkeys because of their great customer service. I was having a hot water heater crisis at around 10:30 PM and their technician Dywanne Wallace called back promptly. He was very professional, courteous, honest and knowledgeable. He gave me a wonderful lecture about water heaters. Since it was a minor problem, he helped me resolve the issue by phone and didn't charge me a dime. What an angel! I will definitely recommend Berkeys to all my friends and families.

Last night we called and ask if they are specialists for our Rinnai tankless water heater they, of course, said they were. We scheduled an appointment for today. When they called to say they were dispatching we knew the part we needed so we ask if they even had it which took forever to get a yes or no. When we finally did a man called us back and said NO he would have to order us the part. BUT here is the deal we said to him don't send your technician since you do not have the part he replied the technician could come out and diagnosis the problem for 69.00 so we would know for sure we thought sure why not. He then quotes that price which we repeated back 2x he said Yes. BUT here is the deal he LIED come to find out it was going to run us 250.00 the technician said that was not the price (big SHOCK!) Just to look at the problem now keep in mind it was no overtime or late evening this is therea normal charge. Als,o we felt all they wanted us to do is just buy a NEW UNIT and not try to repair the one we had.
The technician was great and understood how we felt it was the office and dispatch that was the problem.
I had a tech come out this morning to look at our hvac system, as we woke up to an 80 degree house. He asked me to run to the store to replace a dirty air filter that I admittedly hadn't changed in far too long. My round trip was roughly 20 minutes. Upon returning home, he had already told my wife that we needed an entirely new system, and should either raise the selling price of our home (it is on the market), or lower the price if we don't want to fix it. Upon my arrival, he showed me a bunch of gauges and had me feel the coil, I have no idea what any of that means, he also mentioned the same thing in regards to the entire system, to the tune of $24,000 (my house is 1800sqft), or, I could replace the coil that had a blockage to the tune of $3500. He was quick to tell me that when customers decide to go this route, he is back out within a few months to replace the entire system anyway. I felt trapped, but could simply not afford $4k without using their financing, and absolutely could not afford $24k for a new system. Thankfully, I was declined. I called a second company out to get a second opinion, and they replaced the condenser fan, and my interior thermostat, and charged me $388. My house has been 72 degrees all day long, and it was over 100 degrees today.
My dad had A#1 air replace his entire system with a 2 phase 4 ton unit for $9500, so I was shocked to hear my wife's brand new car was worth less than the same system through Berkeys.
Also, keep on mind, this is after I had them out last year to fix a slab leak. Their original estimate was $18,000 to dig under my 52 year old house to repair the leak. This is a terrible idea for this old of a foundation. We worked back and forth for 3 hours before I finally told him no way, which is when I was told well sir, there is another option. We can go through the slab for $4000
Why wasn't this an immediate option?!! I know companies need to make money to continue to be a company, but ripping people off is unacceptable. And charging someone $70 to lie to their face is insane. Last time to use these criminals, and I hope everyone does their due diligence before falling in to a trap. The work they do is good, but you'll pay 300% more than it should cost to get it done.
We called Berkleys for a/c inspection. They do a thorough job and clearly explained any concerns /issues with the system. Very courteous and professional!
I see people unhappy with the price paid; I will tell you this. I have used other companies that charged less and paid for it in the long run. When having remodeling done, I had toilets installed with cracks, air conditioning service that leaked coolant. Once I started using Berkeys, I have consistently had great service with the A/C and heating service and the plumbing. Today Brandon came out and serviced my furnace; he was excellent. He reminded me my batteries on the thermostat needed changing, I had enough batteries for the upstairs unit, so he kindly provided me with batteries for downstairs. It's the little things in life that make me know I'm with the right company.
I signed up for their maintanance program so I really did not have any huge problems. Dan was the service man and he was very polite and told me of some potential problems but did not push anything on me. After reading the reviews I will definitely be careful and get second quotes on any services.
For now I will continue to use them but I will be careful.

I'd be certain to get a couple of quotes when dealing with Berkey's. I was give a quote 50% higher than other comparable companies and told that it was a flat rate quote when I asked for a breakdown of costs for the replacement of a hot water heater. When pressed further to provide a breakdown, I was told that he would have to check with his supervisor and would get back to me. Still haven't heard anything 4 days later.

First of all I always look to Yelp for help prior to using a service needed for our house...
I called this morning around 8am spoke with a very nice lady I think it was Melanie, any she was was very pleasant and Very polite, I explained our situation about drainage problems and told her I had to shut off water supply from the street last night because of the leakage. She said she could have a tech come out in about an hour and half and it would be a $150 charge which is reasonable for a Sunday morning. They sent a text and email about an hour later and said Carlos was in route, which had his profile and such along with it. When Carlos arrived he had read the notes prior before arriving which I explained over the phone to Melanie. He knocked on the door saw the problem right away, Carlos explained to me it was the main drain to the street being backed up. He said he would have to clean drain and then run a camera thru it to make sure it was clean which he showed me. After looking at camera while in the drain there were roots growing through the pipes which belonged to the Town of Flower Mound, he said he would try to clean them out which he did and after he ran the camera thru again to show me the video which is pretty cool which I took a video of so I can show The Town of Flower Mound for using thinner PVC pipes on drainage system which they are going to replace being on the Town side.
I would Highly recommend Carlos who works for Berkey's, they are what they say they are just like the adds. Total cost was $350 which is very acceptable, I will use them again and buy there planning agreement it's worth it.
Thanks again Carlos!!!
Phillip
These guys are RIDICULOUSLY over priced. They are professional and responsive, but gouge their customers. I have several direct experiences myself. The latest is today where they charged me $290 to clear up a clogged drain that took less than 20 minutes to fix. There were no parts - only labor. Their pricing scheme is unethical and very unreasonable. I have used them for more than 10 years and have spent tens of thousands of dollars on various issues and I would prefer not to give them any more business. I will try to find someone else.

I called them out for a leak under my kitchen cabinet. They came right away which was great but thats where the great ended. The guy that came out that day could not determine where the leak was coming from and informed me that he would need to send someone with extra equipment. The was going to cost $450+ for leak detection. They came back the next day and within a few minutes and with no equipment the second guy knew it was coming from the dishwasher line. Since im not using the dishwasher I had him cap it off, which appeared to stop the leak. In the meantime he insisted on inspecting all my plumbing and informed me I needed a new water heater. Their fee; a ridiculous $2500.
Upon checking my meter they said is was still moving indicating I still had a leak. He said they needed to turn off my emergency shut off to be able to determine if the leak was in the house or in the yard. I did not know where my shut off was (it ended being buried a foot) so they had to send more guys out the next day to find it and they already said it would have to be replaced. This was going to cost $2100 and 'HAD' to be done to find the leak. Then if the leak was in the yard it was going to cost a total of $6000+ to replace those lines.
So I paid the 2K, the guys came out the next day and replaced the shut off valve. That was 6 weeks ago and I have never heard from any of them since. I asked 3 different men if they would be coming back to once again check for the leak and they yes, another person would be coming back out to do that. It appeared that once they had my money they weren't concerned with any follow up.
I had determined by that point there was no way I was going to do any more business with them so I didn't even bother contacting them. It was quite clear that all they were concerned with was FINDING everything could possibly charge me for and gouge me with their extremely high prices.
I will never do business with again nor recommend this company to anyone.
Terrible service, had an appt in the morning, the reached out at 1130pm, and told me someone would reach out an hour later. I asked if they can just come in the morning because it was sooo late, she told me that the next availability would be 2 days later.
Having checked the BBB rating, Angie's List, Google Reviews & then lastly Yelp, I'm glad we stuck with our appointments for 3 of Berkey's technicians to provide a diagnosis and estimates for work we THOUGHT was imminent on 3 major systems of our house, plumbing, A/C and electrical issues were thought to be in need of some major updating but happily all 3 of the inspections to the equipment found them to be in mostly great working order with a few areas needing addressing. Over all about $2000 in work was needed in all 3 areas where we were getting estimates by phone from others (free estimates mind you based on what we thought were issues) of work in the neighborhood of possibly $15+K. From scheduling on a Saturday and someone actually answering the phone to a quick turnaround time for all 3 technicians to come out to the property on the following Monday (window of time 1 to 5 PM and ALL showed up in that time frame on time and professional & spent about an hour each on site).
There is a service charge for having their technicians come out to the property. We even opted to pay for an additional service to scope some lines and are very happy we did. As a small business owner, knowing what an investment it is in time and experience just to come out to a home I would rather pay the service fee and get a professional, trustworthy estimate because they've been paid for some time on site than get a free estimate only to be handed a huge bill for work I may not have ever needed (remember we thought the work was going to be very extensive and it gratefully wasn't!) Thank you for your professionalism in what was a stressful waiting period. From our 1st time experience with 3 of your technicians for different systems we would be happy to recommend you as well as use you for future work.

Representative who came out was polite and thorough. Not impressed with their sales technique and recommendations. Had two other companies come out afterwards and the recommendations were much less work and therefore, less cost.
Today we had our third experience with Berkeys and they are three for three in providing amazing and fast service. While they are perhaps not the cheapest company, but they are fast to respond, the technicians are knowledgeable and friendly, and the job is done well. They have repaired a water heater, a shower handle (that another company attempted and failed to fix), and installed our new thermostats. They are coming again Thursday to install a new kitchen faucet. The tech calls our dogs by name when he arrives. We are very pleased with our experience!
I had one of their more experienced HVAC techs come out w/32 years experience, and he was either very upset at something in his life or was having a horrible day. However, it was late in the day and I felt sorry for him having to be out in this heat, even though we had been without AC for two days. I even excused his tardiness and trite responses like when I asked him if I needed to be outside with him or inside of the house, and he said he didn't care. I cut him some slack, even when he told my insurance carrier that I needed a total system replacement, which they didn't cover. And when he emailed me a written estimate for over $10,000 I was shocked, but was ready to see what financing they offered. Thank God I called another service company for a second estimate because the only things that needed to be replaced were two capacitors, the condenser fan motor, and add about 5 lbs of coolant, which only cost me $1000. I don't know about the company Berkey's as a whole, but what a horrible, horrible experience with one of their more seasoned technicians. Now I have to call my insurance back and provide them with the receipt from the company that actually did the work so I can get reimbursed for some of it. Always get a second estimate from them even if they send their most experienced technician. It saved me over $9,000 by doing so.

We got taken advantage of by Berkey's. They charged us a dispatch fee of $49 plus $395 to install a $50 part.
They told us this was the military special and I was thankful.
A neighbor came out to give me a quote for a different repair and gave me the low-down on the ridiculousness of what we were charged.
Berkey's took advantage of us by dressing up as military friendly.
I am so thankful for honest people like my neighbor. And this was an expensive lesson to learn (Berkey's is refusing to refund any of our money at this point).
If anything, learn from our lesson and don't use Berkeys.
Please share this post as I do not want ANY other family to get taken advantage of---eapecially those of us willing to pay the ultimate sacrifice.
Would love to recommend them.
Tried to book a service on their website - had availability next day (today) -GREAT!
The call me the next day and apparently - due to a lot of emergencies..they won't be able to get to us until....April 13th. For a simple AC tune up and asked did I want to be on the books for then. Nope. Have decided to go with someone else.
I don't know what sort of scam they are running, but I guess they have my information now and can spam my inbox with offers - so they have that going for them.
I've been using Berkeys for a couple of years now, for a variety of issues around the house; mostly plumbing and HVAC. So far, never been disappointed. The technicians arrive on time, they are polite and professional, they do a great job of keeping the work area clean and leaving the area clean, all while fixing or repairing the issue they came out for. Never once have I had a bad experience, and I can comfortably recommend them to anyone.

Do not call these guys they are con artists. My mom called them over for a water pressure issue with her kitchen faucet.Well the guy goes to her water heater and says it's leaking. Then told her she better get it replaced before it gets worse. She called and told me they were going to charge her 3400 to replace it.I said are you serious? She said yes and that was with her so called senior discount.I told don't do it.She was still going to do it but thank god she changed her mind.We looked around and found someone to do under half their outrageous price. They should be ashamed of themselves. No telling how many other older ladies they have taken advantage of.My advise is not to use this company. If you do get another quote from somebody else. These guys are crooks.
Had a service call due to a leaky faucet in my bath tub. It took the Plummer 15 min to change out. The cost was $515. Called other Plummer's in the area and got a quote for same thing with labor and parts for $200-250. Will never call them again.

We had a plumbing blockage in a bathroom sink which my husband was unable to fix. He finally called Berkey's and had an estimate and online coupon for $123. The plumber came out and started asking about what kind of service we wanted - one time or membership - both of which were much more expensive than the online price. After trying to snake the drain he said he was unable to clear the blockage through the pipe under the sink and that he would need to come back, remove brick from our exterior wall and create an outside cleanout in that area. Then he would insert a high pressure hose to hydroclean the pipe to remove the blockage. All of this was going to amount to almost $2000.00 for a combination of what was described as option 1 and option 2. That did not include the cost of repairing the brick when he was done. At that point we just paid the $69 for the visit and said we would think about it and planned to get other estimates. I then checked my home warranty policy and found I was covered for plumbing blockages. Today the plumber sent by my home warranty company came and snaked the drain from under the sink with a power drill snake and cleared the blockage in minutes. Thank goodness I didn't go with Berkey's advice - what a scam. I would never, ever use them for anything.

Normally I see reviews inspired by negativity. But I had to come on Yelp to brag about Berkeys. My service tech was David and he was kind, courteous, and informative. Fixed my issue within an hour, and gave suggestions how to upgrade.
