I've hired Handyman Heroes twice to complete electrical work. The first time they installed a new outlet in the bathroom and installed a new fan/light fixture. The second time they installed a new light/fan in the bedroom, but it was more complicated as there wasn't a light box in place when my condo was built. Both electricians did excellent work on their respective visits and in a really reasonable amount of time. The second visit was even ahead of schedule, which was a nice surprise! Not only are they great at their jobs, everyone is really friendly and easy to work with. I am super happy with their work and will definitely hire them again in the future for any projects that come up around the house. Thanks, Handyman Heroes!

A++++ Javier contacted me almost immediately and suggested he will send his electrician Freddy to replace the light fixtures I needed changed. Javier is super friendly and extremely quick. Freddy came over and installed my new light fixtures and he did an awesome job at it. Freddy too is super friendly and very knowledgeable. Overall a very quick and smooth experience. Great price!

I've had Damon & his crew (Carlos, Carlitos, Marcos, Samuel) do a couple jobs for me now (these things tend to snowball, ugh, lol) & they've always done top-notch work.

I had a fan in my master bathroom crap out on me, which was weird, since I only bought my place 4 years ago, it was newly remodeled, & I even remodeled some more on top of that. My wife pointed out it wasn't working, but it looked new to me, so I popped the cover to find out...not new at all. New COVER over a fan that was a year younger than the missus. Uh oh. The old lipstick on a pig boogie from the prior owners/ seller. Damn. Hate getting hoodwinked.

So, I think well, better check the 'new' fan in the guest bath too.  Pop THAT shiny, nice cover & ...same drill but even OLDER. Some mid-80's (I think) giant 13 circular fan they don't even make anymore. Double ugh.

Last stop: laundry room. Final fan, pop the cover...whew, it's actually a new-ish fan. 1 outta 3 ain't bad, right? /sigh

So I put out the feelers for an electrician (I had 2 dead outlets, 1 indoor, 1 outdoor as well) & after doing the online quote thing w/ Yelp, I got in touch w/ Damon @ Berkeley Home Repair. Funny dude, super helpful, quick & responsive. He schedules his electrician, Carlitos, to come out ASAP, for what I think is gonna just be a basic fan install & outlet fix job. Nope.

Carlitos goes into the attic & discovers the ducts are all wrong. 3 fans running thru 2 ducts, both bathrooms on the same 4 line, & laundry room on some weird 3 duct. Now, you can get away with 4, but 6 is code & preferred, & every fan has to be on its own dedicated/ independent duct, or you're just blowing moisture from room to room & into the attic. Not good. We crawl the attic together & confirm I need a 3rd roof penetration & new ducts. So much for cheap & easy. Damn.

Damon adjusts the bid (as gently as possible, considering my costs just went up almost 10x) & I wind up with 2 brand new Panasonic Whisper Quiet fans (amazing. Almost TOO quiet), a new roof penetration & cap, new independent 6 ducts for each fan, an excellent sheetrock patch & paintjob on my guest bath ceiling (prior, old-timey fan was just way too huge compared to current models) AND Carlitos fixed both dead power outlets (one of which turned out to be an arcing short/ broken wire inside the wall, which we were lucky to catch before a fire).

All the workers were amazing to work with & did great on their specific parts of the now much larger order. Everyone worked quickly &, despite the gig snowballing far beyond the expected, Damon priced fairly & had the work done as fast as possible with minimal intrusion & inconvenience (crucial during these pandemic work from home times)

Tho it was obviously a bummer to have a small job turn into a much bigger & more expensive one, I always felt like I was in good hands with Damon, his communication was clear, direct, quick & honest, & the outcome was excellent.

I'll definitely be using Berkeley Home Repair for future work, since homeownership often means nasty surprises like the one I got ain't all that rare, unfortunately. Heh. At least now I know who to call to get sorted fairly & quickly.  Thanks fellas!

Yevgeny is the best!  I was impressed and very pleased with how quickly he was able to come out, inspect the job and give us a fair quote.  He answers telephone calls himself and is terrific at follow up.  He's friendly, helpful and, most of all, very patient in explaining exactly what work is needed, why it is needed and how long it will take to perform the work.  Our first call to him was when a Recology truck pulled down the power connection between our house and PG&E.  We're so pleased with him that we're going to have him make a variety of repairs to our Victorian.  I recommend Yevgeny absolutely and without reservation.

I reached out to Oscar and he went out of his way to help me with a few projects even when he told me he was completely booked for the next two weeks. I will be hiring him again. He was fast, clean and very professional.

Dave was great! He was quick to respond to my inquiry about installing a ceiling fan and sail shade and was able to come out a couple of days later. Everything looks great and I definitely plan to use him for future projects. I have a list!!!

Bedr is awesome. I feel so lucky to have met him! He took care of my small jobs quickly, professionally and conscientiously. I think he can probably fix anything. I would recommend him unreservedly.

We have hired Wisdom to do both a bathroom remodel and a kitchen remodel at our home in the Balboa Terrace neighborhood  of SF over the last several years and on both projects, they did an outstanding job. The quality of work was very high, the timeliness completing the jobs was excellent and the cost was very fair. Metin, who is the lead for Wisdom was a pleasure to work with throughout both projects. During the planning phase he shared many valuable/creative suggestions and during the execution phase he was very effective at seeing each project through to successful conclusion... problem solving and communicating clearly along the way.  

If you are looking for a contractor who is honest, does high quality work, is highly accountable and delivers great value, I highly recommend Wisdom.

I scheduled an appointment to get an estimate for a number of jobs I need done. The person who showed up (Devon) was knowledgeable and friendly and seemed to really know what he was doing. He was so helpful and very nice to me; he took time out to come back the next day and finish installing something for me that I could not manage myself - at no charge.

I'm waiting for an estimate on the work I want done, so I can't say how that will turn out, but so far I'm very impressed and pleased with how Devon handled the walk-through and follow-up.

REVISED REVIEW:  Thumbs down. I received an estimate that was not itemized as promised. Instead, it just listed several lines with the prefix painting and plumbing and similar vague descriptions. I emailed James on October 30 and asked for a clearer estimate and never received a reply. Also contacted the business manager, who had promised me the clearly itemized estimate so I could pick which jobs I wanted done immediately, and have not heard back from him either.

Loved working with Ben. He was very professional and offered great advice / help. He completed the tasks doing quality work in a short time. We have a small baby and he was very respectful in staying quiet while working. I highly recommend Ben and will hire him again in the future for any task my home needs!

I consider myself a pretty fussy & not easy to please customer and I can't say enough good things about Ongaro & their heating & plumbing services. We have used them to maintain our water heater & HVAC system for over 6 years. We bought a water heater from them, called on them to repair a broken water pipe which had flooded our house (they came out in less than 2 hours) & most recently to replace our 30 year old furnaces (which they help nurse until this point) & duct system. Their costs are very reasonable, their staff is the height of professionalism, they do what they say & they go above & beyond to accommodate us, the client. They raise issues, sometime before I even have a chance. I could say much more on the positive side & am hard pressed to find anything negative.

Ted was fantastic - professional, courteous, kind and did excellent work! He installed a new faucet and repaired a broken window expertly and quickly, and was able to accommodate my schedule, despite contacting him on short notice. I'll absolutely be calling him again! Highly recommended.

Simple storm drain issue, has some roots between clean out and the exposed drain in my dry well. Two yahoos show up, that hardly know which end of their snake is the business end. They quote me $1200, snake the line, pull out a few roots and tell me there is nothing else they can do. Then charge me 3.5% on top for paying on a credit card. They don't have a different snake that can clear out the roots without me paying several more hundred dollars and signing a waiver that if they cut my pipe in the process it isn't their fault. I can't ever recommend this company. They just don't have expertise.

The whole Divine Electric crew and experience was great! They responded quickly to my initial request, provided a quote right after doing the walk through and were even able to schedule the job for the next week to accommodate an urgent need. The work was one big job (running electricity to a new office shed in the backyard) and a few smaller jobs in the house (installing and replacing fixtures, plugs, dimmers, etc). The crew on site (Diego, Carlos and Rigo) were extremely professional and had a very high attention to detail. The project manger provided great communication on progress and issues and minimized disruption from power shut offs. They completed the job on time and within a budget except for one additional request I had (with they didn't even charge full price for). All the work completed was extremely well done. They were a little bit pricier than some of the other quotes I had but they were definitely worth it in terms of the quality and speed of the job. I will definitely use them again!

Angel just left my apartment.  He put a lot of pride into his work and did an excellent job.  Pricing was quite fair.  Given all the work done and hours spent, he could have definitely charged more.  In addition to the great work at a fair price, Angel is simply a gem of a human being.  He is the type professional that you want to have on your team.  He is kind, straight forward, fair in his pricing, true to his word and operates with the highest level of integrity.
