Called Roto-Rooter as my husband broke off an auger trying to clear the drain. They came out very quickly and attempted to removed the auger. The plumber told me the only way it could be removed was by breaking up my slab foundation and they would send out a camera operator to give me a better view.
Camera guy came out later and showed me what he said was a collapsed line with dirt in the line coming in from it. He proceeded to tell me I needed to have my entire inside sewer and outside sewer replaced to the tune of $14,800. He told me he could get started in a few days and get me financing immediately.
I was waiting for some money to come in fully believing them and my friend encouraged me to get a second opinion. In the mean time my husband was able to get the auger out (without jacking up the floor). The second opinion put a camera down and found the real problem. A sponge. One of my children must have flushed it down. He showed me my entire line afterwards when it was cleared, no cracks, no collapsed areas, the pipes are perfectly fine. I don't know if the technicians who came out where just so bad or were trying to scare me into unnecessary problems but they were going to tear up half my house, walls, my shower, and my yard for no reason.
