Best Appliance Repair in Portland OR
Okay, so I am going to sort of repost most of an experience I had today with another company here to highlight the great service I received from Cherry City Plumbing.
Called to get a water heater replaced. I was not really interested in estimates (though they did give some), I just wanted the job done and was willing to book the job then and there. I called Judson's Plumbing and it seems Judson's requires a photo of the water heater sent to them before they will commit to the job even though I gave the details concerning the water heater in question. Trouble is their office staff have no idea how to deal with graphics sent to them or they didn't want the business. Twice I sent the picture in the email address given to me. Nope, they claim they didn't get the email and nothing was returned to me saying there was a problem sending the message. Okay, let's try sending it in text. Same issue, they say they didn't get it. I am a retired software engineer, I wrote a lot of code that is used to send emails; I know how to send a text and email message. My guess is that Judson's didn't want the job (really easy install in the garage with no obstructions) so they played the we didn't get the file game and really insisted they have a picture. I do wonder about those without smart phones or the experience of sending graphics being left out of the loop. So much for inclusion.
Okay now onto the good stuff.
I called Cherry City Plumbing and they said, picture? don't need no stinking picture. Okay, so I played that up a bit but they really were surprised a picture was needed by Judson's before booking a job. Cherry City Plumbers didn't need any picture and were very professional and helpful (and nice) and booked me with Anthony, a very accomplished technician who did the job of replacing our water heater the same day for $400 less than the lowest price quoted by Judson's. My advise, call Cherry City Plumbers first and save yourself a lot of frustration and money to boot, and you won't need any stinking pictures.

Chris is very good with responding to calls promptly and has fair quotes. I've been calling him for at least four years and he has always done a great job with all kinds of problems and installation.

Tod was super nice. He is very responsive and punctual too! He was able to fix our closet door that had been driving us crazy for a long time in an hour. He was even nice enough to go get the parts to fix it. I will definitely be calling him again. : )

Needed 5th wheel inspection and fixes for anything found and had left messages at 5 different businesses without a single return call. I found Reeds and left a message which was promptly returned that same pm with appt scheduled for the following week. What a gem this young man is! very courteous, professional, knowledgeable, and his work ethic cannot be topped. His initial quote for services was very reasonable and the final bill was a very pleasant surprise ( $250 less) due to his diligence in finding problem, fixing it, and moving along very quickly. I am very pleased with the workmanship, integrity, honesty and professionalism of Mr. Geoff Reed. Will recommend him to everyone and keep his info for my personal use also.

A miserable and costly experience: Charged me $89 to reset my tankless water heater and tell me that it needed a flushing service. But access ports needed to be installed first. So total cost would be about $980.
After agreeing to have that done, the problem persisted, and the technician then determined that the unit really needed to be replaced. Quote for new unit and installation - AFTER a $500 discount: $5575.
I did some quick research on the cost of the recommended unit and installation, only to find their prices were almost double what they should have been. I found another manufacturer-authorized installer who quoted me less than $3000 to provide/install the same model recommended by the Roth technician. This other installer also said that anyone who was familiar with unit I needed to replace should have known that the flushing service would do nothing to remedy my initial problem.
So Roth misdiagnosed the problem, charged me for a solution that did not work, and then wanted to give me a deal by charging almost double what it should have cost for a new unit. What a bunch if rip-off artists.

They did a great job cementing a new mailbox and post for me. They arrived on time and finished the work in a timely manner. We had good communication ahead of time so there were no issues of misunderstanding each other. I felt the price was a little high but will probably use them again for jobs in the future.
