Best Lighting Installation in Austin TX

Avery Handyman (Lewis) is my go to handyman. We've used him for indoor & outdoor electrical work, gutter removal, blind installation and more. Excellent work and all very professionally handled. We've also found his estimates to be fair & better than what we were expecting.

We have a home warranty company service contract, that wasn't doing the job to fix our plumbing repair.  After two visits, they still didn't replace the stop angles in the upstairs bathroom.   Then, our downstairs powder room started leaking water.  So, seeing all the great reviews on Fox, I decided they'd be worth the price.  But, nope.

Fox service guy #1 was nice, timely, professional.  However, he didn't seem to know the problem with the downstairs bathroom.  He ended up searching the house to find other problems that he could charge me to fix, HVAC in the attic, upstairs bathroom, etc.  He would've charged about $365 to fix the upstairs stop angles.  So, I decided to call our home warranty company for a third time for that.

Fox service guy #1 finally said downstairs problem was due to plastic pipe inside of the pipe was too high, and cut it down, but, did so crooked. $73. for service call and free repair.

After FSG #1 left, the toilet started running.  So, we called Fox out again.  Fox Service Guy #2 wanted to replace the guts of the toilet for $175.00.  He did a huge sales song and dance, trying to even charge us more to put in a whole new toilet, wanted to charge us another service call fee, etc.  

Then, he finally said, my manager will kill me for saying this, but, you can buy a rubber flap for $10. at Home Depot, which should fix the problem.  It's actually less than $10.00 at Home Depot.

We called our home warranty company back.  This time, they assigned M1 to the job.  For the same $65., no new charge, M1 worked to fix both bathrooms.  They replaced the 5 stop angles, and put in a new flap in the downstairs bathroom.  

The problem though is that the downstairs toilet still runs and leaks.  So, we're calling M1 out again.

Long story short, I guess every place, depends on the individual contractor who comes out.  Fox probably has great service people.  But, it seems like they're also trained to do a lot of up selling and are expensive.  If they were able to diagnose and fix the problem, it would have been worth it to us.  However, they didn't seem to know the problem either.  Although, they were very polite, and timely.

Responsive, trustworthy, and reasonable. What more can you ask for? I have used them twice now for electrical work and will likely use them again in the future.

When I woke up to a small river on the exterior side of my house (Friday before Easter) I panicked!! I immediately had the water turned off and started my internet search. I decided to check Yelp since I am somewhat new to the area and came across Austex Sprinklers  - I was deciding on 2 other company's but I contacted Austex via Yelp and I am happy I did!!
First off Phil was very prompt with a response and said he would contact me first thing Monday morning (being that it was a non emergency and a holiday weekend). I spoke with him first thing Monday morning and he told me that he would send out a guy by the name of Frank. I thought he was going to come out look at it, give me an estimate etc. etc. Phil said, Oh no Frank will fix it when he comes out. So he scheduled me the appointment.
Not only does Frank show up, he called and asked me if he could show up a bit early!! Very friendly, very knowledgeable and professional. He fixed my leak, doubled checked things and in a matter of no time he was done! Frank was truly AWESOME - you never know who is going to be sent your way and I was very pleased with the outcome. Also very fairly priced, I did not feel over charged. I will definitely use them again if needed.

We had Superior come out for a quote about 2 months ago to do some repairs to our sprinkler system - we had several that were not working or were like geysers when we ran it. They gave us what we thought was a reasonable price so we scheduled an appointment a couple weeks later. They arrived on time and were able to fix everything and also let us know they have a 30 day warranty on all repairs. We ended up calling them back a couple times - once to fix a couple that had reverted back to a poor spray (they needed to be cleaned) and a couple new ones that we discovered buried in our yard that hadn't been part of the initial repairs. They were great and fixed everything, including the new ones we found without charge (not to mention on the second visit we were a few days outside the 30 day window - I appreciated them still honoring it as within the window!). I would absolutely use this company again for any future sprinkler repair needs.

I am a repeat customer of Gold Star Leak Repair. I had a leak in my pool and they were here within a day to fix it. I was really impressed with the service and their attention to detail. They also installed a brand new pool pump after my old one had failed, and I'm so glad they were able to come out so quickly! I had been having trouble with my pool for a while and it was just too much to handle. They came to the rescue!

Do your homework BEFORE they do any work.  The markup was 900% for some straightforward lighting that was done recently.  I believe the technician took advantage of the fact that I was on phone meetings while the deal was being set up.

If you want electrical work done go elsewhere!

These guys tried to gouge me something fierce today. I had a leaky condensate pump, simple replacement of the pump was solution confirmed by the technician.

I looked up the part by model number on amazon, $45. He wanted $600 for the part and install. I politely asked him to breakdown the price of the repair for the part and labor, HE REFUSED! I asked him to show me the pump he was going to install, again HE REFUSED! He could not and would not justify his $600 price tag for this job.

I went to Lowe's, bought a replacement pump for $72, and it took all of 15 minutes to install (The technician quoted me 1.75 hrs for labor on this replacement) /facepalm.

I think he wanted me to pay him $300/hr to go watch Netflix in his truck!
