We protect all floors with a hard shell, make precision cut holes not to damage the plaster, clean up all the debris, repair all plaster with traditional plaster patching and repair methods, do a complete wipe down of the residence, and mop the floors when we're finished. When it comes to knob and tube wiring, we install all of our electrical work according to the NEC code book your township is honoring. We go above and beyond our scope of work to make sure our work is safe, affordable, and of the utmost quality. Not only is our work safe but looks beautiful too. Our lighting designs are more than just lights in a ceiling, we want to make sure it has a nice spread or spot depending on what the objective is. We specialize in rewiring Knob and Tube from older homes, more importantly, we specialize working on older homes in a correct manner. Plaster is beautiful, and working in plaster homes requires completely different installation and repair methods. A correctly installed lighting design in a plaster ceiling is breathtaking when the plaster is patched correctly. Plaster should never be patched with drywall, they are two different animals that react to their environment differently. One breaths while the other stays stationary. Plaster should always be repaired with plaster, other methods are just short cuts that hide the damage for a little while. It's our goal to work on older homes in a correct manner maintaining their beauty while updating their electrical system in a professional and safe manner. I've used Don Miller Electrical a couple of times and have always been very satisfied with the quality of the work. Don is incredibly easy to deal with, is very honest and takes great pride in doing the job correctly. For example, when I had my kitchen renovated a few years ago, in addition to simply installing some recessed lighting, he helped me with the design and layout of them to prevent shadows and dark spots. I recently had him out for another (unrelated) service call and my experience was, once again, great. Not only was the job done in a timely and professional manner, but they went above and beyond to clean up the area after they were done. I can confidently say that Don is my go-to guy for all things electrical and highly recommend him.

Don rewired my entire 4-bedroom home in Philadelphia, removing all the old knob-and-tube, and did a fantastic job. He finished on time, and did not try to upcharge me or add hidden costs. Everything was done exactly as promised. Thorough attention to detail and cleanliness. His team did a great job protecting our belongings and hardwood floors, and spent an extensive amount of time ensuring all the prep work was done right. When the painters came in after-the-fact, they said it was the best sheetrock / drywall patching they had seen by an electrician - this meant that the painters could get right to work and didn't have to re-do anything (or charge us any additional money). Prep-work and patching cannot be over-emphasized: it saved a TON of headaches on the back-end. Also, after the painting was complete, my garbage disposal wasn't working. Don sent his guy out the following day and fixed it free of charge (even though in the end it turned out to be the painter's fault). All said, if you are looking to re-wire your house I would highly recommend Don.

Don is a really nice guy. I purchased an old row home with lots of old/shoddy wiring. He updated as many of the outlets as possible in preparation for an upcoming rewire job. Basically, he got the house so the electrical is safe and reliable while I save up the big bucks for the larger rewire job.

Pros: He's a guy, not a company, so you always deal with him directly. He's a hard worker, and will always be honest about the depth/scope of the work needed. He's clean and neat--when he worked at my place he laid down numerous cushioned drop cloths, swept up, and took all of his mess with him when he left. He was also really nice to my hardwood floors. I think messy job sites are a pet-peeve of his. He's incredibly knowledgeable and totally let's you pick his brain.

Cons: There's really only one. He's really scatter-brained and hard to schedule. Like every other great contractor, he books out weeks (if not months) in advance. He doesn't have a receptionist or anything, so you end up having to call and remind him about the job 2 days prior, then the day of. It's annoying, but a small price to pay for good work. I'm always weary of tradesmen whose schedules are wide open.

He mostly works out by Chestnut Hill but would venture farther into Philly if you sweet talk him into it. I'm planning my rewire job for the spring, so you can bet I'll be setting up dates with him in February.

We thought he was very knowledgable and reasonable. Did a very good job and went beyond what was expected by helping us move some furniture. Good find.
