Schneller Knochelmann serves a wide service area from the the entire Covington/Northern Kentucky region to the Cincinnati Metropolitan region and beyond. HISTORY


Established in 1928.
Started in 1928 by the Schneller family. Rudy and Jean Schneller were the original owners. In 2011, the company was purchased by Kris Knochelmann. Kris has been in the plumbing, heating & air conditioning business since high school. Along with his brothers and brother-in-law, he purchased his family business, Knochelmann Plumbing, Heating & Air in 1991. In 1997, they sold that business to Service Experts, a national chain owned by Lennox. In 2011, Kris's job was eliminated and he decided to purchase Schneller. He has now been joined by his three brothers, four nephews, other previous technicians, managers, installers and office personnel where they can focus on treating their customers like family. The way it should be!

Kris Knochelmann graduated from Covington Latin School and Xavier University with a degree in accounting in 1991. Lisa Knochelmann graduated from Notre Dame Academy and NKU with a degree in accounting in 1996.  Kris served as a Kenton County Commissioner from 2007-2015 and is currently serving as Kenton County Judge Executive. Kris has served his community in various service organizations. He has served on the board of the Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission, NKCAC, Supported Living, as well as the Northern Kentucky United Way Action Council, Covington Rotary, and the Faith Community Pharmacy where he serves today. Kris and Lisa both serve their church, St. Joseph of Crescent Springs on various committees and councils. Kris and Lisa reside in Crescent Springs, KY with their three children.

I have used a few different HVAC and plumbing companies over the years and these guys are by far the best! Very honest and the work is reasonably priced. They won't try to sell you on anything you don't need and give great advice. I originally called them for a plumbing issue and they were able to come out the same day! I decided to use them for my annual HVAC check ups and they were able to fix my humidifier without a huge cost.

Advice: Make sure to call them well in advance for a furnace checkup as they can get booked out pretty quickly (like most companies).

Schneller Plumbing, Heating, and Air Company is wonderful to work with. They called to confirm a day ahead, called 30 minutes before arrival, and arrived on time. The technicians were friendly, courteous and professional. We have used them for plumbing leaks, hot water heater purchase and installation, and HVAC maintenance. They will remain our go-to company for years to come.

We had a great experience with Schneller. Our furnace was not functioning as normal and we knew something was wrong. I was able to schedule an appointment online for a few days after we noticed the problem. The company sent me emails the day of reminding me that someone would be coming, then telling me they were on their way with a photo and description of the technician (plus a call). There were 2 guys and they arrived and worked promptly. After figuring out what the problem was, they explained everything in detail to us and laid out our options. I was very unhappy with how expensive the part we needed fixed was, but that is nothing that is Schneller's fault! The technicians were both very friendly and courteous and left to acquire the necessary part and came back to install it that same day for us. Overall, service with Schneller was quick, easy, and efficient.

they fail to mention that they charge 89 bucks to come to your house to assess issue and that 89 dollars does not go towards your repair cost.  that's ridiculous.

My AC went out on 7/14/21. This company came out, the technician said I needed a new capacitor and I was low on Freon, but didn't need the Freon As he didn't see any leaks. The technician asked me if I wanted him to fill It up and I agreed as it only needed one lb. I paid $422.00 In total and signed up for their monthly plan for $15.00 per month, keep in mind this plan is supposed to give you a slew of special perks. Two weeks later on 7/28/2021 my AC went out again and not just out, but was freezing up just like before. I called the company immediately and requested that a technician come out. I was told that nobody would be available until the next day and the time would be unknown. Keep in mind that this $15.00 monthly plan provides you with priority customer service and 24 hour emergency service calls. Clearly the two perks indicated were not offered or considered by the rude phone rep when I called. This rep started out by telling me that they do not service modular homes and he was sorry that I couldn't be helped. I explained that he needed to check again because they came out the first time with no problem or issue based on my modular home. He put me on hold and came back to the phone ready to schedule my appointment without any acknowledgment of his incorrect statement. I even asked, did you get it straightened out, and I crazy? Did I call the wrong place? He didn't acknowledge his mistake or my question and continued to schedule me. I waited, the tech came out the next day around noon.  I was given the news that my AC lines had a leak and needed to be replaced. I immediately asked why the first service was done and was told that there was a mis diagnose and sometimes that does happen. This tech even took me outside and showed me the leak at the top of the AC lines. He then said that the first technician needed to move the mulch that was on top of the lines to test them and he must not have done that during the first visit. I immediately asked about the return of the money I spent on the first visit as #14 on the list of perks you get for the $15.00 monthly plan is a 100% money back guarantee and #6 is a 6 month no breakdown guarantee. this was not mentioned or even acknowledged.  The technician called his service manager who was busy and I was told that I would get a call back by the end of the day. Friday evening rolled around and no call. I waited over the weekend in the heat and humidity and had to call myself that Monday morning on 8/2/2021.  I was able to speak to the service manager who was not real excited to speak to me, I could clearly tell. He told me that he would process the refund but they would need to come and get the capacitor out of my AC unit. I replied with that is fine but you need to return the one that you incorrectly replaced. He said he would call the first technician to see if he still had the part and get back to me. He actually called back and told me that the technician did not have the part, they would leave the capacitor that was replaced and process the refund. It would take 7-10 business days to show up as a credit on my card. Today is day 8 and no return. I worked for a large credit card company for years and returns do not take 7-10 days but I thought I would play along. I thanked him for speaking with me and we hung up. The thing about this is that I understand that mistakes happen. But there was no other option to repair the leak which was at the top of the line, it was a couple thousand dollar repair or nothing by the second technician. I have called back twice and requested that I get a copy of the return invoice and am told that I'll get a call back and nothing.. crickets. The return has clearly not been processed or I would have received a return invoice. I do not recommend this company at all. They have not been professional, they did not back any guarantee, or the fact that this $15.00 monthly plan even exists. I'm a single mother that works hard for every penny that I have, and I'm happy to pay for AC, and repairs but I'm not okay with feeling taken advantage of. I'll have to settle this with my credit card company and am left just really disappointed.

Schneller & Knochelmann Plumbing Heating & Air. Didn't think I would have had to do this since I had a House Warranty. Schneller replaced the AC unit and Coils. It had a really good warranty. $4900 for everything. Everyone was very friendly and Very Professional. I have been working with a Housing Warranty contractor for 3 months and they could not figure out the issue with my AC issues. Schneller came on Saturday and BAM just like that they identified 3 causes of the problem. I was satisfied with their assessment and decided (on my own accord) to just buy a whole new system just to not have anymore headache. I literally had to sleep at My buddies because it was so hot.

This was my timeline: Saturday was the assessment. Sunday the sales guy came out to assess system requirements for my unit. Monday they installed. Amazing. Amazing. Amazing! I highly recommend this company.

We've now replaced the furnace and central air unit in two houses and used Schneller both times. Their prices are fair and they stand by their work. Their staff has also always been very nice; they seem trustworthy and I'm comfortable with them being in my home.

called to schedule a standard HVAC maintenance between 8am-12.  Took off work to do this.  They sent a note the service tech was on the way at 9:00am.  At 11:10am, I emailed to see where they were, no reply.  At 11:30am called the Ohio Pike office and was told 'guy couldn't make it' someone else may be on there way.  Guys shows up at noon after not calling, texting or emailing.  Now, I have to go to work and spent all morning chasing them down...very frustrating.  will not use ever again.

Service was fine, the only issue we had was with the pricing.  Cost $90 dollars to have them show up spend 5 minutes to tell you you need a new water heater then quote a price almost double what you can get elsewhere. Wasted $90 dollars on them and will never again.

I do not recommend using this business. Standard $95 fee to bring them out that gets used towards the fix. I get that. However, I'm extremely disappointed that the plumber they brought over was worthless. Told me my toilet couldn't be fixed and that I'd simply have to replace it. He'd be happy to do that for $1009. What a joke!! Needless to say I hired one of their competitors and said it was a simple fix. Never calling these guys, what a scheme!!  I'm extremely disappointed.

Spent 15 minutes with a Chat representative and then a phone call to be told they do not do the requested work.  The only reason I reached out was because it literally says on their website that DO in fact do the requested work.  Should not be advertising for repair work if in fact you are not able to do it! Very frustrating!!!!!!!!!

If I could give a zero rating, I certainly would.  I asked for a quote on installing a city water line to a home that currently has a cistern.  The plumber showed up and stated immediately that his company would not be able to help me because the water line was on the opposite side of the road from the home that needed the water line installed. The plumber then told me to contact a boaring company instead.  I then contacted a boaring company who proceeded to tell me that the water district would most likely install the tie-in under the roadway and place a meter in the front yard of the subject property that needed the water line install.  The boaring company then told us that the plumber should have know this if they have don't this type of work in the past.  I then contacted the water district who confirmed what I was told by the boaring company.  From here I contacts Schneller Knochelmann back and told them what I was told and further asked them if they have ever done this type of requested work In the past.  They responded with a confirming, Yes.  Which confirmed what the boaring company and water district had said when they claimed the plumber should have known that the water district installed under the roadway.  So I asked for the plumber to call me back and he did.  (Super nice guy, just wanted to make that known.  He was never rude).  The plumber called me back and I explained that the water district would put the line under the road and place a meter tie-in in the front yard of the subject property that needed the water line.  The plumber confirmed some details with me and then gave me a quote of $4,500 for the line install from the water district tie-in in the front yard of the property, up to the residence.  This quote was fair with competing plumbers.  The next day the plumber calls me back and admits that he made a mistake and quotes me at $9,000 rather than $4,500.  Double the previous quoted price.  I mean, wow.  I told him that this was unacceptable because I already was getting the process started with the water district for the tie-in based on the quote I was given on the prior date.  He apologized but, he did not offer any kind of resolution for his mistake.  I asked him to have his manager contact me immediately, but hasn't happened yet.  Although the plumber was very nice, he and his company need to get their communications in order and stand behind their mistakes when they happen.  Thank goodness I can go to another plumbing business.  This does not reflect on the plumbers attitude because he was polite, just the fact that this company jerked me around and didn't back up their mistake.

Don't do a good job right from the get-go.  Called to have 2 toilets fixed.  These were just simple issues, toilet running and just needed inside-the-tank parts replaced.

Receptionist Kelly asks if this is a single family home, I tell her it's a condo...She speaks to dispatch and comes back on to tell me that Scheller & Knochelmann won't do it as sometimes the water shut-off is in some other part of the building.  I explain this isn't the typical condo building; ours is a 3,400 sq ft, 2 story condo and all water shut-off is in our condo.  

On top of that, the project is just to replace the inside the tank parts and I have already shut the water off.  

I see their trucks in our community yet, somehow when I call to employ their services, they won't work on our condo.  

Maybe S&K has decided that they aren't interested in smaller residential jobs, either that or they are just too busy to care about new business.

I don't blame Kelly, she was just repeating what she was told however, it's pretty poor reflection on either dispatch or the overall operations.

Hate to give them one star but that's the lowest this system allows.

I know I won't be calling them ever again for any of their services.... And maybe, just maybe, that's what they want; to eliminate the smaller jobs.

Schneller takes care of all our heating and cooling problems. After dealing with them, we would not call anyone else. In answer to our call recently, Jeff came out in a matter of a couple of hours. He took care of things. Needless to say we were very happy.

I replaced my entire heating/cooling system in my house, as well as my water heater with a tankless. These guys are all very skilled and knowledgable in their trade. A real pleasure to deal with, and my bills have gone down dramatically. A little on the pricy side, but you get what you pay for.

After my initial call at 6 pm for emergency plumbing services, it took several
hours and another call before the technician called me back. He was very abrupt, focusing on the service costs. He couldn't promise a time but said it would be quite awhile. It has been 8 hours and no further contact. The emergency line now rings repeatedly before it disconnects. No voicemail and no person. The on line chat service gives scripted answers, promising to alert the team about my issues the next business day. They referred me to the emergency line again, even though I told them I couldn't get through. Meanwhile it is 4am on a holiday weekend and my basement is flooded from a burst pipe. Extremely poor customer service. Another company finally came out so they get my money for extensive work to be done. Now 8am, 13 hours after my initial call, and still no word back from the technician or company.

No shows. Read through Yelp and saw these guys as highly rated. Great. Called and set up an appointment and waited 3 days for the time to fix my water lines. I had a 4 o'clock appointment, took off work and went home to meet them. No call and no one showed up. I'll try a more reliable company.
