**Editing my review from 4 stars to 1 star. This is the worst company I have ever hired to do work.
I originally called Roto-Rooter because I heard that they respond quickly. Imagine my delight when I called the morning I needed service, and they came out within the hour! Should have known it was too good to be true.
The problem was that my kitchen ceiling was leaking from the bathtub upstairs. After 2 hours of inspecting it, they found out it was because my pipes were corroded. I paid the plumber $1000 to fix the pipes. The service wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible. I was just angry that it took the plumber from 12pm to almost 5pm to fix the pipes. I tried not to be mad because I am NOT a plumber, so I do not know how long those things take. It was kind of strange that the plumber kept asking me for help to fix the pipes. I didn't mind helping, it's just when you pay someone $1000 (Parts were about $100 btw, so we're talking $900 in labor) to fix a problem, I don't really expect to have to lift a finger.
While the plumber was fixing the pipes, another crew was ripping apart my ceiling and hooking up a dehumidifier and a fan to get rid of any access water or mold. I was talked into filing an insurance claim, and after the adjuster came out, I found my deductible was more than the work to repair the ceiling. This shady company just preys on young naive homeowners, and that is so wrong. They knew how much my deductible was because they asked ($1500).
Back to the hole: The crew left and left a mess. The guy who was supposed to be checking the humidity and temp of my house the next three days only came once.
Fast forward a week: I get out of the shower and go downstairs. I look up at the hole and what do I see on the plastic tarp covering the hole? A POOL OF WATER. Yepp, I paid $1000, filed a claim, and took off work so that the plumbing could be done poorly and not finished.
I immediately called them to have them fix the issue... they were supposed to come out 8-10am. No one showed up and it was 11am. I get a call that they're behind and can't show up for a couple more hours. I just ended up scheduling them to come at 5pm because I was sick of waiting and had stuff to do.
The plumber finally showed up and first tried to CHARGE ME to FIX the pipes. Ha, yeah right. I argued with him for awhile and he eventually realized that I had a warranty for a year. Again, Roto-Rooter tried to screw me out of more money.
I am not going to be fixing my ceiling for awhile. I do not trust that the leak is fixed, at all. It is better for me to see the leak through a plastic tarp than through a new ceiling.
On top of all this, I STILL have not gotten my bill for the hole in the ceiling. My adjuster told me to talk to Roto Rooter, and I have. But no amount of emails and calls will make them just tell me what my bill is. It will be a large amount of money, so it is really infuriating to not know how much money I have for the next couple months.
This is, hands down, the worst customer service I have EVER received. I can't believe all this has happened. I wish I would have just waited. I will never be using Roto Rooter again. You do not prey on new homeowners. You do not charge a ridiculous amount and not fix the problem. You do not leave a mess. You do neglect to tell the homeowner how much they owe you. Please stay away from Roto-Rooter if you are new to owning a home, they will screw you over.
