I would give Blind zero stars if I could. They advertise 100% guarantee or your money back. Plumber 1 came out, his snake was too short for the kitchen sink clog. Two days later Plumber 2 comes out, snake too short again. He changed the faucet & covered the wood floor with cardboard. I saw wetness on the cardboard and under it, a water bucket or two must have spilled. He says he'll clean it up. His leg must have kicked it over. The next day the floor was warped, there was even leakage through the basement ceiling. Blind says it's not their fault. It has been a horrible nightmare. There is no such thing as a Blind 100% guarantee! Beware!

Great work done on installing extra plugs on the outside of my house! Fast, nice guy and efficient.  The reason for my 2 stars was the price!!  Goodness these people are pricey!!  2 electric plugs for $310 ??? Competition is too stiff in Akron for them to charge people that much!

Instead of scheduling an actual appointment for an actual time they gave me a day they would come out to give me an estimate. That's not ideal but okay I guess. However, on the day of the first appointment they canceled, rescheduled, then day of second appointment they canceled again. Obviously my business is not important to this company. Watch out if you have a small job.

They have two stars for a reason. I took a day off work and had a contractor waiting on them and they canceled at 10:45am when we were supposed to be a early morning appointment. They refused to provide any compensation for the lost time and money on the job. Said they can cancel any appointment at any time without notice last minute. They cannot be relied on if you need a job done on time, so who knows if they'd provide quality work with such poor leadership.

My son died on the job working for this company. I've also contacted a manager there that I've talk to quite often since my sons death in 2019. I've let him know twice now that their drivers are on their phone every time I see a truck. They have gps's in the trucks so there is no need for them to be on the phone. Apparently nothing has changed. Safety is not a concern for them. FYI...steer clear when you see them on the road.

I scheduled an appointment with Blind for a critical appointment for Tuesday, the appointment was confirmed the Friday before.  Blind called me at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday (I took a day off of work) and cancelled my appointment.  I was then advised that only the first appointment of the day is confirmed, I was not told this when I booked the appointment.

I then called J.W. Didado Electric and I had a certified Electrician who resolved my issue within one hour.  That is customer service.  Blind did call me at 2:45 to reschedule, no need I will be a J.W. Customer for life!

blind & sons was total crap! They (Anthony the sales guy) talked a good talk and I was impressed the first day but after the install they've been out 5 times to fix things - and it's still not right.  They also ruined our brand new patio by letting our old unit sit and leak the oil out all over. The air purifier was installed backwards and the motor on the heater was broken BUT he INSTALLED IT ANYWAY and told us to call for service the next day. Everyone there blames it On Someone else and nobody is willing to take the blame and/or fix anything. The installers left a mason jar with soda in it in our basement - not a huge deal but after everything I'm fed up. The sales guy left cigarette butts all over our driveway and promised us that they would install our AC unit on legs. well, they didn't bring the legs with them at the install. When they sent someone out to fix it, he didn't bring them either!!! We were also told that the install (including electricity) would be done in one day. Well they said that the electrician would have to come back another day and it would be for about an hour. He was there for THREE. The installers blamed the factory for a faulty part and blamed the sales guy for not writing anything about the legs on the order. The service guy blamed the installers and told us to request a manager to come out. He did and sent out a guy to fix everything and he didn't bring any of the right tools with him and said that it wasn't on his work order.... A Total cluster f#%*. Save your money, your time and your sanity!!

Bind and Sons gave me two $25 certificates after a disastrous ordeal with a plumbing issue. (The plumber installed a new shut off. Didn't install correctly and woke up to a small flood in my kitchen. B&S could not come out for 2 days to fix it - knowing the pipe was heavily leaking! I had to shut off water to my house for 2 days until they came out and fixed their mistake.)

I used my certificates to have a toilet seal replaced. The technician said I could only use one of the certificates. But did say if I bought a maintenance package from Blind and Sons they would give me a discount on the service and would take the second $25. Well, I fell for it. Doing the math it would only be about $40 more, so I did it.

I then got my furnace check as part of that maintenance package this month. He said the furnace would have to be replaced or would probably break this winter. I told him I would think about it.

He also took the cover off my AprilAire and was to replace the filter. I found part of the unit on the floor when he was leaving and asked him to come back into the house. Apparently, he could not get the top back on so he just left it on the floor. The AprilAire is an older unit but my furnace is only 6 years old.

Called back as there was a knocking sound in the furnace starting the very next day. The same guy came out and said I needed a new furnace and that sound would just happen each time the motor starts and will eventually wear the furnace system down and not work.

Decided if I was going to need a new furnace I need to get some estimates before committing. The first person who came to give me a new furnace estimate I told about the sound when the furnace started. He looked behind and said it was because there was something duck taped inside the Aprilaire unit that hit the inside each time it started. He removed that and the sound stopped. He also told me the furnace was in great condition and I could probably get 10 more years out of it if not more.

I kept the appointments that day with two other companies for an estimate. ALL THREE told me there was nothing wrong with my furnace. Only one actually wrote out an estimate if I want to replace a working furnace. The other two said they wouldn't quote to replace something that has nothing wrong with it.

One of the estimate guys told me he use to work for a company like Blind and Sons and that they require technicians to get customers to pay at least $300 per visit - whether on the service they were going out for (not including the visit charge) or by selling the maintenance plan. Clearly I got pulled into that when I got this maintenance plan.

I will never use Blind and Sons again. Even if they give me $300 in gift certificates. They are dishonest and are there for themselves not for their customers.

Highly over charge.  I had them come out for a quote to just replace my garbage disposal and faucet.  I purchased the supplies.  They wanted to charge me $830!!  I got it done by another great place that same day for $300.  They will gauge you, steer clear.

If I could give this company zero stars I would. Called yesterday to get an appointment and they said they would be out today. Couldn't give me a time but said that they would call 30 minutes before so I pretty much planned my whole day around this as I did not know what time they would be coming which is fine.  Just got a call saying that they wouldn't come at all today because they've gotten other emergency calls after I made my appointment with them. This is absolutely no way to do business. So unprofessional. I guess my time is not important at all as a customer. Wanted me to reschedule, and I practically laughed as I am sure this will probably just happen again. Just a terrible company. Treat your customers better.

We purchased a new AC from Blind & Sons.  While they were quick to send salesman and have unit installed the next day, I can't say that their service department is as efficient.  It's almost impossible to get a commitment from them as to when they will come out for a service call.  The first time I called them to set up an appointment they confirmed an afternoon appointment.  The day of the appointment they called to
say tech couldn't come out and it would take 2 weeks to reschedule.  They claimed I didn't have an appointment!  If I didn't have appt. how could they have called me????  They said that they have customers that pay for services agreements and those people bump customers like me.  I was furious and told the operator that I took the day off work and couldn't do that again....after speaking to a manager, they did send a tech out later in the day.  Since the new AC was installed there was leakage in my basement....again, when calling for an appointment there was no commitment as to they day or time they would come out.  We will try for tomorrow.  What kind of operation is this? I'm sorry.  I paid almost $4,000 for a new AC, I would expect a commitment from the company as to a service call date/time.  They were fast to come out and install and take my money!   It's amazing to me that when I told them that I would call someone else and send them my bill, that they would try to have someone come out the next day, which they did.  I received a call prior to the service tech coming out....when I asked how long it would be the person calling said he was on the way.  It took over an hour for him to arrive.  The service tech said it would take a couple hours to repair.  When I told him my time frame and that I needed to leave in an hour, it amazed me that he fixed the problem in less than 30 minutes. Hopefully he did.  I have a 10 years parts/labor warranty from them....I hope the step up their service department the next time I have to call for an appointment!

I agree with the other post.  I had Blind come out a few years ago to service my a/c. While the tech was very good the estimate was not. With the labor and a fan installed by them the price was so high I might as well replace the unit. Of course they quoted that but I got a 2nd opinion and replaced the fan instead with another vendor.  Unit has run fine ever since.

Bottom line...these guys are good but very expensive. I would search out other options.

Think twice before calling this company!  I would give them zero stars if I could.

I'm in the middle of a large kitchen repair/remodel due to a dishwasher leak back in December.  The insurance company left me with a temporary sink set up for my kitchen.  We left the temporary set up in place until we got the cabinets,  Finally get the cabinets and got them in place as we get ready for the counter top template.  Called and scheduled a call for these guys to come out and hook up the new sink since I was going from a double bowl sink to a single bowl.  To be absolutely clear, all that needs to be done is new PVC pipe from the garbage disposal with the necessary p-trap to the existing drain pipe and include the extension with the vent, that's it.  I could actually do the work but it would take me several hours and probably a couple of trips to the hardware store to get the correct parts.

Deciding I had would be better off to spend my time on other work in the kitchen I called Blind and Sons since I had used them previously.  I was very clear  to the rep that scheduled the appointment exactly what the scope of work was.  The guy gets here and doesn't want to do the work because the counter isn't in yet and the cabinets might move.  He then asked me why the rush to get this done ( oh I don't know, maybe I'd like to keep a working sink in my kitchen so we can still use it and the dishwasher while we wait for the countertops!) When I asked him to do the work anyway he quoted me $953-no that isn't a typo!--to plumb the sink.  When I refused the work they still charged me a $60 service charge.

After thinking about it overnight I called to inquire about a refund of the service charge based on the totally unrealistic quote they refused but are going to review the quote.  They also told me they do quality work and aren't the cheapest provider.  I wasn't expecting a cheap price, I was expecting a reasonable price.  $953 to re-plumb a sink drain in a 5 year old house is anything but reasonable!

I called a another plumbing company, explained the scope of work to them and they quoted me $145 fixed price to do the work.  Now that's reasonable!

We called Blind and Sons for a furnace and A/C replacement quote.  The gentleman that came out to put a temporary fix was wonderful.  The man that came out today for the quote for the replacement asked my wife if her husband was home and that usually it's better to have the husband home because there are usually more questions.  First of all, we are two women, second, even if we weren't, that's a really rude and antiquated thing to say.  My nephew and brother-in-law were at our house as well and they tried to talk to him and he was very rude to them.  The final quote was also outrageous.  So, we will not be using them in the future at all.

We had Blind & Sons install a new furnace, A/C, and replaced electrical box in 2015. The A/C they installed is a Trane.  We turned the air on for the first time recently and the outside unit wasn't running. We called Blind & Sons for service and they made an appointment with us for Monday last week. My husband stayed home from work to meet the repair person. We received a call Monday afternoon advising they had a lot of emergency calls and would not be able to make our scheduled appointment.  We rescheduled for a weekend date and the service person came out and checked the unit advising that the Freon was empty. They could not identify if there was a leak or where unless we paid an additional $274 on top of the $120 service call. The technician also advised that performing the leak check wouldn't necessarily identify the problem and it might be best to purchase a whole new unit. We got a second opinion and that service person said the condenser coil failed and the Freon leaked out. They advised that Blind & Sons should have registered the unit with Trane and Trane's warranty would apply. We called Blind & Sons and they advised they stopped registering units in 2016. We told them this install was 2015 and they said they didn't know what to tell us. We called Trane and they advised the unit had never been registered. The repair is nearly $3000. Blind & Sons told us had we arranged for them to come out twice a year for maintenance at $200 per visit their warranty would have covered it. This is Ohio not Florida. We only run the unit 3-4 months of the year. This part should not have failed so quickly.

I hired a plumber from Blind & Sons to come out and do 3 jobs: (1) hook up my gas dryer,  (2) install a pipe from my laundry sink to the drain almost directly in front of it, and (3) align my water heater with the exhaust vent. For this work, I was quoted just over $1200, which seemed pricey to me, but the plumber explained that there would have to be upgrades made for him to touch my water heater (a new expansion tank, overflow pan, etc.). With those upgrades-esp. an expansion tank, the pricing seemed more reasonable. Long story short, I got handed that same bill but without those upgrades that were listed on my receipt. When I asked for a breakdown of costs by job just to shed light on what exactly I'd paid for, I was assured by the plumber that I'd actually received a deal on the work. He said he could try to send a job-specific breakdown of the costs but no promises. No surprise, I haven't gotten that job-specific breakdown. I'll also add, the plumber was gruff, rude, and complained more than once that he was missing the game thanks to the plumbing work he was doing. While I was shocked that I was charged the same amount as quoted although the upgrades didn't happen, I paid the bill and tried to be as agreeable as possible because I wanted the guy out of my house. Never again will I choose this company.

I never thought in a million years to ask how much they charge to install a bathroom faucet ! It's not too often I get sticker shock , I knew blind and sons was going to be more expensive than other plumbers but they are right down the street from me and I just wanted it done . The guy was extremely dirty and smelled , he brought nothing but a pipe wrench and was here for 50 minutes . When he told me 520.00 and that he gave me a discount because I was 5 minutes away from his shop I about fell to the floor ! Needless to say I cancelled the electrician appointment for tomorrow and I will never use them again !! I'm still in shock !

Paid for an inspection that was wrong and they wont give money back. While everyone we spoke to on the phone and in person was very nice and friendly the service we got was awful. They installed the system in a home we recently purchased (home 10 years old) and we have zones and knew they werent working properly. We paid $150 to have them come out and make sure it was working. The guy was nice but came and was only here 30 minutes and said it was working fine. So a few weeks later we still felt like it wasnt right and when I called back they said we would have to pay again for the review. So I called broadview heating and cooling and they sure enough said our 2 thermostats werent even connected and working at all. So I called blind sons back and they said they would send someone free of charge and he said indeed it was broken and the first guy they sent was wrong (didnt know zones apparently). I called and asked for a refund and they said no but they could put the money towards fixing it (their broken system mind you). I did not want to spend any more money with them so we went with broadview heating and cooling instead and are very happy with the service (quick and nice). This is borderline unethical to send someone who doesnt know the product and charge us then try to charge again for another review. Awful experience.

No way. Quoted me $935 to replace an out door faucet connected to the house. New long stem outdoor faucet, cut the pipe, put in a reducer (indoor pipe is small). Said it would take an hour. Had to pay about $120 for their 10 minute visit. No way am I paying almost $1000 for a new garden faucet when I know those parts are less than $100 at any home improvement store. Ok, say their parts are a little better, let's double and say $200, how do you justify $935 for an hours work? A good outdoor faucet is $50.  An extension copper pipe is $10 or less and a reducer for no more than $10 at any home improvement store. A little solder and some labor. Those are the parts he told me he was going to instal.

I don't mind paying for labor, but this is like 900% over part cost.  I asked them how do they justify that price. They said they had to cut the pipe and put in a reducer fitting. The fitting is just a small copper pipe to go from a larger pipe to the faucet which is a smaller pipe.

Do not deal with this company.  They show no courtesy whatsoever toward their customers.  I have been waiting all day for a service technician to show up.  I called late this afternoon to find out when a technician might show up and was told they cannot give me a time (and I am an MVP customer). Since it is now into the evening and I am still waiting for a technician to show up, I called Blind & Sons again (waiting on hold for over one hour) only to be told by the person answering the phone that they will take a message and have someone get back to me.  I finally received a call at 7:30 p.m. to inform me that no one would be coming out to my home even though I had a scheduled appointment.  Horrible customer service.   They do not even deserve one star.  Do not waste your time with this company!!

Here are the ways in which I think Blind & Sons can improve their service:
1.) When a customer calls days in advance to schedule a main waterline valve replacement, let them know that the city needs to turn the water off.   I assumed a plumber could shut the water off at the street to replace the main valve, and I had no reason to think otherwise since it was never mentioned.
2.) When the plumber arrives at the worksite, he should maybe assess the situation and mention a severe problem before saying, You need to contact the city to shut the water off; reschedule when that's done.
3.) When the second plumber arrives two days later, after the city has shut off the water, he should not then say, Actually, this is a problematic repair that could cost $6,000 to fix if I break it, and I'll need you to sign this waiver of liability in case I break it.  Because the city will not turn the water back on unless the main water line is to code, and it feels like you're holding our water hostage.  We were left with two options: sign the liability waiver and possibly be on the hook for $6,000 should you break the line, or go without water until we can get a second plumber out for another opinion.

The upshot to all of these problems is that my family had to spend the night in a hotel while we waited for another plumber to come out and give us a second opinion.  The new plumber then replaced the valve in 30 minutes without any liability waivers and for less than half the cost of the original quoted repair (and that's before B&S's service fee).

I contacted Blind & Sons because I needed work on my AC, my electrical, and my plumbing and I thought it would be easy and convenient to hire a one-stop shop.  But it would have been easier, more convenient, and less expensive to contract the work to three different companies that specialize in those services.  I was very disappointed and will not work with B&S again.

Two stars for the friendly voices on the other end of the line and to the decent service we received for electrical and HVAC.  But the plumbing issue was too egregious to be any more generous with my rating.

I just called the company to get an estimate on some work. Unless you are purchasing major equipment from them they charge $90 for an estimate - it doesn't matter how substantial the repair may be.
I am just posting so others know the situation; the choice is yours.
I was not going to give them a star rating, just a comment, but Yelp doesn't give me this option.

the guy who came out was very friends but with that said, it cost $800 for a fuse and new thermostat to be put in. they charge us over $100 for a thermostat that i bought brand new to be put in just to be told it didn't work. it so happened for $250 the one he had in his truck can be installed and that one works. John Williamson from Blind & Sons came out to see what was going on with our home AC. He was amazing. Friendly, professional, and honest. He walked me through as he worked on the diagnostics. He quickly found out the problem and went to his truck to see if he had the new part that he needed. He did and tested everything before leaving. I couldn't be happier about the service. He's a good guy. Thank you!

B&S pretended to work on my heater, but their work was shoddy and useless and then had the audacity to bill me for it.  I was without heat for 6 days while I waited for them to fix my heater, which they couldn't do.  My email to them was this:

Hello,

Please direct this email to the person responsible for refunds at Blind and Sons.  [There is no such person, even the AMEX responsible person hasn't worked there for several years]

This is regarding service to my furnace from John of Blind and Sons during the week of 10/19/22.
None of the several steps taken to repair my furnace fixed the issue. so they were useless, unnecessary expenses.  The real issue was finally diagnosed on the third visit, by John, as the gas valve, after two completely useless visits.  Rather than replace the gas valve for the inflated price of $550, John immediately suggested that I discuss a new furnace with Diana.  And left me with a non-functional furnace for yet another night.

Rather than buy a new furnace for $5,000 to $6,000 or more, I found a GC who replaced my gas valve for a total of $350, after cleaning everything in the furnace that had not been cleaned by John (at all, even though that was supposed to be part of his first visit), and my GC checked of all connections, etc.  The furnace immediately started and has continued to run fine, as I expect it to do for a long time.  My GC will be performing my furnace maintenance.  FYI, I also had already replaced my own furnace filter.

After these horrid experiences, Blind and Sons is not a company that I would choose again, nor would I trust them with any of my furnace or other home maintenance.

I expect this refund to be issued as either a check, or a credit on my AMEX account.

Thank you for your reply to this email and please issue a refund for $338 to me, all charge details are listed below.  Blind and sons will have received $150 from me for the original diagnostic, and the other several useless trips.

You should also update your AMEX listing of Scott Kinsey as the responsible email address, as I was told that he is no longer there, just this am, on the phone.

10/19/22  Job#: 1019851
$150.00 for diagnostic, which did not fix the issue.

So I asked AMEX to issue the $338 refund, which they did, after I gave them the details of my complaint with them of the horrible service from Blind and Sons.

B&S is still billing me.  I guess they can't read, because I paid what I owed them, and will pay nothing more.

In closing, Be aware that Blind and Sons Heating and AC from Barberton, OH are not trustworthy, will never do a good and thorough job, and they charge money for work not done.

I recently had my HVAC system serviced for the winter by Blind and Sons.  I originally purchased the system from them.  During the service call, the technician had trouble getting the thermostat to work. He told me it might need to be replaced soon.  In less than a month after the service call,  it quit working.  When I called Blind and Sons to replace the thermostat, I requested not to be charged a second service call since the technician had just been out and told me it was going bad, but didn't suggest I should replace it while he was here.   I was told that the technician had not made notation of his conversation with me on the paperwork.  Evidentially his failure to document the conversation meant it didn't occur.

I am a senior citizen living on a fixed income.   Had he suggested at the time I should replace it,  I would have done so as I would have wanted to avoid a second service call. Also, I have serious health issues and cannot risk being without heat.

The cost to replace the thermostat was extremely high.   I was charged $133 for the Aprilaire 8466  thermostat which could have been purchased online for $85.00.  I was then charged $54  for installation plus a $90 diagnostic fee. They charged me $272.00 minus a $25 courtesy discount for a total of $252.  I appreciate the small gesture, but the cost of this service should have been closer to $140.00. I should not have had to pay the diagnostic fee.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to afford to use them in the future.

Terrible service providers!  After receiving a competitive quote from a knowledgeable sales consultant and deciding to go with Blind and Sons for a furnace and AC unit replacement, everything went south in a hurry.  The day of the installation, 2 technicians showed up.  After 12 hours of work, they still had not completed everything.  The technicians also had no idea how to set up the WiFi thermostat.  I had to call a family member to come sit at my house with them the following day because I couldn't miss another day of work sitting at home with these folks.  Following this incident, my thermostat lost communication with the newly installed furnace.  After playing phone tag and getting ZERO help from anyone, I performed my own troubleshooting to get the device back online.  Fast forward to now.  The weather is warming up, and come to find out my thermostat is not communicating with the AC unit, and the instructions for the thermostat don't give any information on how to set this up.  It has been days since I asked for help from Blind and Sons, and still NOTHING!  Don't be fooled by their competitive pricing and slick sales team, this company is awful.

Replaced my furnace. Did a terrible job. Wiring wasn't hooked up right so a/c didn't work. They ran 4 stands of wire when the thermostat needed 6. Business owner tried to blame us for the problem. Was rude and condescending. Had to hire another contractor to finish their shoddy work. Stay away.

We have been loyal Blind customers for years and have been very pleased.  But I am sad to say their quality of service has really gone downhill recently.  First of all, they sold us a service contract for our whole house generator.  When we had an issue, the technician had no idea how to work on it.  Blind refunded our $ stating they don't really work on them.  Ok....

Then we had our regular clean and Check on our A/C and the tech quoted us $1100 in repairs.  Told us our 14 year old A/C wasn't worth fixing and might make sense to replace.  Called another service company.  Repairs done for $180, including the service call.

No more Blind for us.

Called on Monday and they said they could come out Tuesday for a plumbing issue that's flooding our basement and making it so we can't use all but one of our bathrooms or our washing machine. Were told someone would be here Tuesday, so we cancelled an appointment with another company that could have come Wednesday. Halfway through Tuesday we got a call that our appointment was being moved to Wednesday. Frustrating, but ok. Then at almost 5pm Wednesday they called to say no one was coming out, they don't even service our area.

So another day of five people sharing one half bath and not doing laundry before someone that can help us will come out from a company that checks if you're in their service area before they make any promises.

This service provider was my first choice when it came to HVAC/plumbing. I even purchased a $12k hvac unit and a top of the line water heater from them. Not to mention all of the service calls over the years. Needless to say, I have given them quite a bit of business. Unfortunately, when I needed them most they wouldn't come through for me. I have a main drain from the second floor of my home that travels into my laundry room on the first floor. The drain started leaking and my laundry room filled with sewage and water from my sinks, dishwasher, shower and toilet from the second floor. Not only is the smell horrendous, but there are sewer gases escaping from the broken pvc pipe. I contacted Blind & Sons first thing Tuesday morning and asked if they could send someone to repair it. They said they would send  someone and said that they would call me 30 mins before they arrived. I spent my day off waiting for them to arrive. I called back around 4:00pm to get a status. I was told that I was still on the schedule and that someone would be out. No one came and I did not receive a call informing me that they were not going to come out. At about 6:30pm I made my 3rd call. However, I was sent to an automated answering system that place me on perpetual hold. Most disturbing was that I didn't receive a call from them this morning with an apology or explanation. Instead I called them. She said they would be sending someone out. Well, it is 2:00pm and not a word from them. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I will have a house full of guests. I couldn't take the chance that Blind & Sons would not show again.

I called Roto-Rooter who understood the seriousness of the issue. They are sending someone within the next hour.

When I called Blind & Sons to let them know that I found another plumber, I received no apology or assurance that this was not typical of the service they provide.  She said only I will cancel your appointment. Thank you.

Too bad this vendor has gone downhill. They were fantastic years ago.

Worst company ever. Came out after a home inspection finding gas leak and said there wasn't a leak. Gas company confirmed that there was a leak and in fact 2 leaks! I am the Realtor for the homeowner and they were so rude to me. Could it be they missed the mark on a serious defect? I will never NEVER recommend this company again and blind and son can thank Shauna for her attitude for that.

I had Water brought in from the street I was told dirt would settle-they finished pretty late at night when it was dark so I'm sure they didn't see how bad they left it early September. It has been six months I called Blendon sons to see if they would come back and just level it out a little for me they said they're absolutely not responsible for post job and it should settle in six months.
Would not recommend

New furnace and AC unit purchased through them with a 10 year warranty.  2 years in and multiple issues with the AC unit.  There is no sense of urgency, leaving me, the customer without a service I've already paid for for multiple days.   Calling them is not helpful - it's truly the worst customer service I've experienced.   I just do not understand how they can continue doing business with this lack of urgency for their customers.

Several of my AC Receptacles quit working and the Tecnician found the problem and did a good job fixing it, he had opened my circuit breaker pane and forgot to put it back on, which is very dangerous.  He said he left the fasteners in the circuit box, but they were not there so I purchased new ones and replaced the panel myself, they said no one couold come back for 4 more days, I stayed home all day on Decembere 14th as they said they would be back, I wasted my whole day.they did not show up. I have 4 cats that own the house and go where they want, including the fuse panel closet, so it was very dangerous, my cats can open any closet or door in my house.
I did not mind putting the circuit panel cover back on, but I had to go to home depot to get the proper screws.  Too bad as the technician did do a good job troubleshooting. Randy I will get another plumbing and electric shop and furnace repair now, I have cancelled my monthhly payments for supposed savings on furnace repair. I have been waiting fr months to get my electronic air cleaner checked out, guess I will find another Trane repair shop, Blind is too busy to take care of their exsisting customers.  Randy
CANCELING MY MAINTENANCE PLAN.
Hello: Please cancel my maintenance plan as it is not worth it anymore, They have scheduled and canceled four appointments so far and missed two.  They reschedule and then cancel again.  I am going to try another Trane repair shop'  I also had a technician come and Brandon did a wonderful job of troubleshooting and fixing my problem, but he was so late that he forgot to put the Breaker Panel covers on and I had to go buy screws and put it back myself.  This was not his fault and he should be awarded for his fine troubleshooting, I blame management for not scheduling properly and not enough workers.  Thanks for your time. One star is even too good of a rating. I have been (or was) a customer for at least 8 years. Left a 5 star review a few years ago. Two terrible experiences with this company. In the summer they cancelled the ac maintenance last minute and never rescheduled. Today they did not show up for the furnace maintenance. No cancellation call. Their call wait time is 10 min or longer. No apology just a cavalier 'we had too many emergencies'. This company really went  down the drain quickly (no pun intended)

I wouldn't let these people put water in my kiddy pool!

They quoted me $1600 to replace a shower stem. I declined and then the tech charged me $60 for the estimate (after I was told it would only be $50).

In the end I was able to have someone come out and fix my problem for $50!! That's a savings of $1550!

Runnnnnnn!

I called Blind & Sons to diagnose an issue with my hot water tank. It turned out that the unit needed to be replaced. My home is a newer home and lacks the normal atmospheric venting that most gas water heaters require. Blind dispatched a comfort consultant to my home who assessed my situation and presented me with 3 options. We priced the three options, looked at the initial costs, long term costs, and any possible rebates. We decided on a tankless water heater.

Installation day arrived and the install crew arrived right on time. They were professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. The two of them worked as a pair and were quick and efficient. The installer mentioned the job would take up to 6 hours, but they had it done in 4. They left my home just as clean as they found it and even installed a FREE carbon monoxide detector in my home!   I am so happy I called Blind & Sons. I could have found units a little less expensive, but I am confident my heater is installed correctly and backed up by a stable, safe company. I highly recommend you call Blind & Sons for your HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical needs!

I initially gave these guys a good review because the kid that came out was good replaced what the gas guy said to and charged over $600 dollars to do that. Didn't even fix the issue because the gas company came out and it was still leaking and blind and son's wanted to charge us over 4 grand for something that took like $60 to fix will never be using these guys again. Over priced and not worth the hassle. Oh and they were showing up well past the time they said they were going to be here..

Hire anyone but this company. They sold me a wildly overpriced generator 3 years ago. Have refused to return calls about the fact the keys don't work on the lock. Now a short 3 years after I bought it the generator doesn't work. Blind and Son refuse to service it. They now say it's out of their service area. Wow. That's convenient as hell.

I scheduled an appointment for a replacement central air Unit quote. I received a reminder of the scheduled appointment however the tech never called nor showed up.  When I called the company first, the phone hung up on me twice then I finally got through.  I was on hold for 6 minutes finally I was told the tech had a doctors appointment.  OK, but why not call ?  If they can't come for a quote, I can not trust them with a major install.  Unprofessional, not for me.  My time is just as valuable as anyone else.

We were having some drainage issues in our kitchen sink. So we called Blind and Sons because it was only a $99 dollar charge to fix it. Good deal right?  Not!! When the guy came in I showed him where the kitchen sink drained into the basement. He didn't have the correct tool that he needed to open up the drain cap so that he could snake it. So he proceeded to snake it from the sink itself which took about 15 minutes.  The other half hour to 45 minutes he was there, he was trying to sell me their Annual Service Maintenance package.   I really wanted him and his sales pitch to leave I felt like I was backed into a corner in my own home.   About two days later after he snaked my
kitchen drain  our toilet started backing up so I called Blind and Sons back and talked to the receptionist.   I was told that that is another charge because the kitchen and the toilet drain into completely different pipes.   Its different because the toilets go into the sanitary drain and the drain from the kitchen sink does not(?!?!) What??  Okay then, where does the kitchen sink drain into??   I don't want my garbage disposal food going into my storm water drain! it goes into the sanitary drain!  Any plumber company should know that right?  Why am I being told differently?   Needless to say I could not fight a losing battle so we hired somebody else to do the job and do it correctly.  I think their interest is more about selling their Annual Unnecessary Maintenance packaged!

Blind and Sons openly admits to unethical, financially discriminatory practices.

Blind and Sons failed to show up for their appointment again (with no notification). Both times we were told that other people were more important than us, despite us making the appointments weeks in advance. I finally pried the full truth out of her - we didn't matter because we aren't MVPs.  She unapologetically explained that MVPs pay extra money for a membership that launches them to the front of the line, even at the very last minute, and they have no problem with cancelling existing appointment to service these MVPs instead. So basically you have to pay $200 a year to be treated ethically - you don't even matter enough for them to tell you they aren't showing up.

This is a difficult time for lower and middle class people who can't afford to pay an extra $200 for perks and services that they don't need.  This business model ensures that people on a budget cannot get a single service (instead of a slew of unneeded services) from this company. When they make your appointment they don't tell you that they probably won't show up unless you pay them an extra $200. Servicing only rich people is elitist, predatory, and discriminatory. I'll be the first to admit that their technicians are very good, but I ask you not to give an unethical business like this your money.  Exploiting people who can't afford elite treatment is wrong.

Blind and Sons contacted me through Home Advisor immediately after I requested service and were out to quote the replacement of my tankless heater the very next day. Eric was knowledgeable and helpful and the price was good so I went with Blind and Son.
The very next day (and time counts when you don't have hot water!) the crew of Ray, Kenny, Jamie and Carlos showed up right on time in removed the old unit and installed a new and efficient Rannai unit. Great job, great guys, quick, efficient and cleaned up after.
I'm not easily impressed but these guys and this company impressed me.
I'll be back!

Would give zero stars if it were an option. Blind and Son was recommended by a co-worker, so I didn't hesitate to call them and schedule an appointment. I had an 8am appointment, they never arrived. I am more than understanding of situations that may take priority, I never received a phone call that my service appointment would be delayed. Instead my morning was wasted, spent waiting for them to not show up.

*** Buyers beware****

New furnace 3 years old

Purchased and installed by Blind & Sons

Furnace is not working so we called today and we're told.
We let the yearly MVP maitnance plan expire
So...
If we renew over the phone today for $200 they might get someone out to look at it.

If not then they can get someone out Monday.

Be careful who you make major purchases through and their ethics along with customer loyalty. Seems this company does not have them...

I keep asking myself how these people are still in business?  My company had a man named Russell come out and look at our air conditioner unit and give me a qote on replacing the entire unit.  Russell said he would send me an email that day with all the information I needed.  That was on a Monday so that Wednesday I called the company and asked when I would recieved this email the lady I spoke with said she would send him a message right away and remind him.... The following Monday still nothing so I call back another lady apologized and said she would make sure it was taken care of .... Here I am 2 days later in my office its exactly 81 degrees in here and still no word ..... so I called Jennings HVAC and talked to them a guy showed up in 15 minutes have me a qote before he left and will be installing tomorrow I can't wait to give the money to Jennings because blind & sons damn sure will never get a dime from us ....useless!

Called these folks to do some residential plumbing.  Nothing major or high tech -- just several nagging issues I thought oughtta be taken care of.

The tech was a nice fellow and seemed quite competent.  He did an OK job.  That's the good news.

Unfortunately, I feel absolutely and positively RIPPED OFF!  As near as I can tell, if I subtract the cost of the parts used -- at retail, not estimated wholesale -- their labor rate is around $200/hour -- PLUS the cost of a service call.  They disguise their actual rate by quoting flat rates for jobs rather than T&M.  Blind advertises no overtime - ever.  Great!  I can see why!  When you're making $200/hr -- what are you going to do -- charge $300/hr?  Mark up your job rate 50%??

Would I recommend this company?  ABSOLUTELY NOT!  I think the better solution will be to CAUTION everyone I know to AVOID them.

(I'd give them a single star if the tech had not been good.  As I said -- I feel VERY strongly that I was ripped off.  I am writing this so you won't be as angry as I am.

Total possibility of  being a scam company.

I wanted to get a quote for what surely would be several thousand dollars worth of gas plumbing and electric.

Blind and Sons wanted to charge $45 for the electrician and $45 for the plumber to come out and provide me a quote.

What business is going to charge ME for a quote when I am calling them about spending several thousand dollars?

They could just send electricians and plumbers out all day long and provide ridiculous quotes nobody would take, and at $45 a pop if it took 30 minutes for a quote, could Bank approximately $360.00/day giving nothing but crazy quotes so that you don't even have to do the work.

Why would they want to when they can make $36,000 a month (per person) doing nothing but coming out and writing bogus pieces of paper 8 hrs a day?

If you want someone's business, especially someone that purchased a $15,000 Furnace from you, and does their annual maintenance from you, you don't charge to come out to give a quote.

They didn't charge me a quote for the furnace and air conditioner I purchase from them.

Come out for a free estimate, provide a reasonable quote, and you will most certainly have happy customers that utilize your business.

Hell, my car dealer who I buy from every 3 years is willing to bring demo models to ME- I dont even nees to go to the show room.

Chargimg to provide a quote is not only a bad business practice, it's borderline a scam.

We spent over $6,000 to have all plumbing replaced last month...very pricey....the end work was great quality but was a nightmare from the beginning....starting with miscommunication on the quote (which we went over 3 times)....they don't provide written quotes and isn't by time and materials but lump sum....some work done incorrectly....mistakes with scheduling...my kitchen flooded because the drain line to the washer wasn't put back....the positive side to this was the several trips made to correct issues and satisfy my concerns without additional charges...and AARON DOUGHERTY, an apprentice (none of the issues involved him) who has good work ethics and is a conscientious worker....KUDOS!!

Do NOT hire these people! Last summer they came out to fix my air conditioner. I bought a maintenance contract for my furnace. They've been taking 15.95 out of my checking account since. My furnace was working great, but since I bought the maintenance contract thought I would make an appointment for a tune up. The guy was here for 1-1/2 hours. When he left, my furnace wasn't working at all. He came back again after one day and night of not having any heat (and it's COLD), tried to blame it on my furnace, if you can believe that!! Now we're on a second night with no heat!!!!!!! Do they care? NO! I call another company. BLIND & SONS BROKE MY FURNACE!!!!

We purchased a new HVAC system from Blind & Sons and the installation was performed the next day by Jay, Josh and Ryan.  All the guys were very knowledgeable and courteous.  Jay provided us with a lot of useful information about our new system and tips on keeping the house cooler.  Blind & Sons was recommended to me by my very happy neighbor who used them two years ago for a complete new HVAC system.  We've had the new system less than 24 hours now but the install was really great (thanks Jay and crew!) and the equipment looks and works great.

Sorry I couldn't give them a 0 rating.  They would not give estimates without a service call.   All we wanted was a shower head replaced and the handle and plate cover on the shower changed.  Also asked him if he could tighten up faucet on sink because it was a little loose.  His estimate was 440.00! No parts-  I furnished those.  I told him this was a 45 minute job  and the estimate was outrageous.  He said we charge by the job, not by the time it takes.  He told me that I then needed to pay a service charge of 120.00.  Stay away from this company-just read the other reviews.

My 86 year old mother had Blind and Sons come out to snake out her sewer lines.  The representative arrived and told her he needed to go to the basement and run a camera through the line to make sure it was clear.  He came back upstairs and produced a picture of a broken clay tile.  He told my mother she would need to have it fixed and wrote her an estimate of anywhere from $4,700 - $9,000, depending on how deep they would have to dig.

Fortunately Mom got a second opinion.  Turns out, not only did she not have a broken clay tile, she doesn't even have clay tile!  Her sewer lines are PVC!

These people are crooks.  They tried to swindle my Mom out of thousands of dollars to fix something that was not broken!  They should be ashamed of themselves for attempting to commit the crime of FRAUD on an elderly woman.  I have the paperwork to prove it.  STAY AWAY FROM THESE CROOKS!

This company sent unqualified plumbers to install my shower. They left gaps and loose plumbing. They sent another guy to fix it. He did a great job. He had to pull it apart. The original plumbers were never addressed about their poor work. The manager never responded to the atty General complaint I filed. He just ignored them. I was charged  4k to put shower in and repair plumbing in another shower. Very inhappy with this company. I feel I was overcharged. I never received a totally detailed estimate like other companies provide.

This was the absolute worse emergency service ever.  My furnace went out on Sunday. Temps below freezing   We called and $90 later we were told what the problem was but they did not have the part and wouldn't until Monday and would be out first thing in the morning.  By 1130 no call so I called them....was on hold 20 min each time only to be hung up on both times.... Called back...was on hold 20 more minutes and was told there was someone in my area and as soon as they finished up, they would be out. 2 1/2 hrs later ...still no one. I called and was told they bumped my service call and could not tell me when they would reschedule.
I still have no heat and wished I had gone with another company   Also, in checking around while I'm waiting I find out they are A LOT more expensive than anyone else......Never again!!!!!!  I wouldn't have even given them 1 star but this would not let me continue without a rating.  0 is my actual!

My Grandma's drain in her basement plugged and she had Blind & Sons out to see what was going on. They put a camera down her drain and told her the pipe going to the street was disconnected and they were going to charge her 8 GRAND to dig up her yard and put in a new line. I felt like this was extremely high, so I called a trusted second opinion. The second Plumber came out, ran a camera, said the drain was NOT disconnected, got the snake out that Blind's plumber could not remove the day before, unclogged the drain, and told her there is nothing wrong with the line. The second plumber cost her 120$ to do all of this. Blind & Sons charged my Grandma over 250$ to tell her false information. I think this company was trying to take advantage of an elderly woman!!!!  Call Superior Plumbing if you need HONEST customer service!!!!

We've wasted so much our time with this company that I'm not going to waste my time even further by giving a detailed review so here are the cliff notes:
Do not trust them with mobile homes; they had to come back multiple times to fix their mistakes. Such as: they did not run the condensation coil drain out from underneath our house so water was just spilling out from underneath our home. That was also against code.
They neglected to tell us that we had black mold because they as a company are not allowed to say mold. I had to spend a lot of time to get several other people to take a look at it and finally get it removed and replaced. Yet this is what their company is supposed to do!
Poor communication within the company, poor management to make things right, poor training for technicians, no accountability because you get a different technician every time, poor service & customer service. To say we were mistreated and disappointed is an understatement.
There are a few good people in this company but you really need to beware and cautious.

My mom paid to have someone come and take a look at her water softener and give her a quote. When someone arrived, she told him what she thought was happening and what she thought was the problem. Without even looking at her water softener he said he agreed with her. She was confused that he didn't even take a look at the softener. After he left, she decided to read the manual and found that there were other issues, had he actually looked at the softener he would most likely have found. She then called the company again and asked that someone come out a really take the time this time and take a good look at the softener. Since she is not an expert in softeners. The company said that she would have to pay another fee. She explained that the gentleman never even looked at the softener. My mom, sister, and aunt were all there during this appointment. I am writing this because this is unacceptable and the company should send someone out to do their job and not take advantage of older people! They should have taken the time and did a thorough inspection.

STAY AWAY - TOTAL SCAM ARTISTS!  They quoted me $1800 for a job that took Baum & Son's (excellent service by the way) only 1 hour and $265 to complete.   To top it off, the majority of their quote would not have fixed the issues!  I cannot believe they are still in business. They say they figure their pricing by taking a national average  - and it's One Set Price per job (not labor & parts per job).  Well they quoted me $486 to fix an outdoor leaking faucet that Baum & Son's fixed and replaced for $150.  Their's is NOT national average pricing.

We are having some draining issues in our new home (a little over a month into being homeowners) so going through our home warranty company they set us up with Blind and Sons. They sent out a tech and he was very nice and professional, my husband wasn't home at the time so going over with him everything the tech did and explained to me, my husband was dissatisfied as the problem wasn't solved with no real answers as to what the cause is, just speculation. So we were scheduled for a different tech to come out the next day while my husband would be home to go into more detail with him and for someone else to make their own assessment. Instead of coming to our home to look for himself what the issue could be, the tech called the previous tech and made his assessment from there. He called my husband and stated that pretty much nothing would be covered under our warranty (not an issue but also wasn't asked if it would be) said our main drain is inaccessible, which how would he know if he never stepped foot in our home. The previous tech didn't even know which drain was our main drain and stated he would have his boss call my husband. After an hour of waiting no phone call, so he calls back and just cancelled the appt. Apparently, if you are using a home warranty for service you are far from priority and assessments can be made just through hear say, feels like we were disregarded. If the problem would've been beyond our warranty, we would've still taken care of it, but that was never even suggested to us, just clear assumptions if the warranty wouldn't cover it we wouldn't want the service. Pretty disappointed in such a well known and to some people highly rated company. We will never utilize Blind and Sons services again with or with out a home warranty. Hopefully, in time your customers who may be utilizing a home warranty for service are treated better than we were.

Called Blind & Sons to fix a drainage issue in our upstairs bathroom. Lloyd was fantastic. Very friendly and knowledgeable. He fixed our issue and provided a nice explanation on how to possibly avoid future issues. We will continue to use Blind & Sons for our old home.

It's all about the money at Blind.  Be aware if they walk through your door, you will pay a $120 service call fee.  I had them come out to give me an estimate on a bathroom repair/tub installation.  The guy was here 15 minutes and charged me $120 for a service call saying that he came out ready to work.  I knew he wasn't going to put a bathtub in my home that morning on the first visit, but the misunderstanding meant nothing to Blind.  A token fee would have been understandable, but $120 for no work, just an estimate (which most providers do for free)?  A call to customer service got a polite response of basically tough luck, you didn't understand, we are still charging you, because it's our policy.  Well, Blind & Sons makes their own policy, and obviously has little interest in satisfying customers.  Keep in mind, Blind had installed my furnace a few years back and it works, so I guess it is okay, but now I know if anything goes wrong w/ my furnace I am screwed as they obviously don't stand behind their work and have little interest in repeat customers.

Very poor experience.  Everything they sell.... top notch work, excellent customer service and 24/7 service did NOT happen with our experience.   We got a tankless heater for our home which we were very excited about.  Here is what happened:  installation took 9 hours, tank was squirting water all over the basement at 2:00 am in the morning, called the 24/7 line and they said we don't have anyone to help until morning and we will put you on a list.  We had to figure out how to turn off the tank and all the water to the house so nothing exploded.  Basement floor, walls, book cases all soaked.  We anxiously waiting for someone to call in the morning but that didn't happen.  We had to call again and insist someone come out because we had no water, with a brand new baby at home!   They had to fix the installation that they didn't do correctly.  Needless to say the overall experience caused frustration, issues and there was no apology for what we had gone through.  The offer we got was for a service to dry out our basement, which entailed taking up the carpet and drying what they could.  Blind and Sons acted as that was nice of them to do... but it needed done because of their poor installation.  Overall, I would not recommend this company.  A tankless heater is a very big investment and one I would hope comes along with excellent service and care.  We were so disappointed and still are because we are dealing with other issues because of it.

Poor drain equipment is rarely effective when it comes to clearing clogs.

Also, it's a big help when a company can service a customer's plumbing challenges immediately,...

do not hire. they do not stand behind their work!
paid to have a new toilet installed in April 2019. the plumber did not seem to know what he was doing. it took him hours to install. this week I felt the toilet rock. I called and asked them to send someone out but I asked they not send the same guy that initially installed the toilet. they sent a different plumber who found the flange bent and cracked. they would not honor the work. they told me I had to pay, again! they said too much time had passed.  6 months is too much time???? our old toilet was nearly 20 years old and had no issues. suddenly they install a toilet and the flange is bent and cracked! they told me it was from wear? really?

Well I had to book several weeks in advance to get a good time on a Saturday (1 PM), made it clear on the phone I didn't want an early time for this because I would need to get my kids out of the house.  So come Satruday, the service guy calls my house phone at 7:50AM and woke up everyone in the house.  Let me repeat that, 7:50 on a Saturday morning when I had a 1 PM appointment.  He indicated his early appointment was canceled and could be there in a half hour.  Nooo..I scheduled this well in advance to avoid that.  He was a little odd and said very good sir instead of apologizing for calling so early.
So after the kids were out of bed and cranky they arrived later and were detailed in explaining what is being done for this.  Was a little disappointed as the person on the phone stated the inside of the vents will be getting some sort of spray to prevent mold and when I asked the service guy about this they said oh no, that is extra but we will be spraying the coils.  What they do is blow the return and air vents and it goes to the main line where they drill several holes in your duct work (they do cap them after).  I asked if they could take a picture of the inside of the vent and they acted like this would not be a problem and were seeing if their cell phone had a flash.
So my family and I left and they said it could take up to 4 hours, they finished in 3.  The service guy called me when they were finished and I asked about the picture of inside the duct and he said Oh, no that is whole other thing that would be a scope of the vent and an extra cost.  My response was, you aren't scoping the vent, you are putting your cell phone up in the vent duct and snapping a photo.  His response was yeah, that is whole other thing.  Whatever.  He was a little odd if you haven't gathered from how the day started with him waking my house up at 7:50 and not apologizing for it.  So when I returned home they had locked up for me and I examined the work.  Honestly, for $400 bucks I expected a little more.  I looked at one of the return airs and it was still covered with dust.  I put a swiffer over it a couple times and it came off filthy.  Nice, feels like that was money well spent.  Then I received an email later with pictures of the vacuume  they used, to go along with this message:
Here are the before and after pictures as you requested.  The
blue filter on the top of the vacuum filters anything above 5 microns.  The
green filter is below the blue filter which starts at 1 micron to .05 micron.
Anything below .05 microns is filtered by the Vacuums hepa filter, which
is changed yearly.  We use the Grand Central 2000, it creates a negative
pressure of about 2200 cubic feet per minute vacuum.  Just let me know if
you need anything else.
Interesting, I guess?  All I asked for was a picture of the inside of my air duct?  If that couldn't be done, just simply say no.
It was an interesting experience to say the least.  I am normally a do-it-yourselfer with a lot of projects but duct cleaning was one I don't think I could tackle as it required equipment I didn't have.  There were many other providers on this site that had deals for much cheaper and I am wondering if I would have got a better job (and follow-through with what I am told).  I went with the more expensive one because I figure you get what you pay for.

Update 12/18/14

They offered a $25 gift card for my inconvenience.  Don't know what the heck I can do with that.  But when I responded about it, they ignored it.  I dropped my experience down to a C because of this.   Additionally, my dad was looking at my furnace and noticed they had not put the plate back on correctly and it was whistling air.  The whole experience has been very amateur, for a premium price.

Some of the technicians were proficient some not so much. I had them for 8 years and the service was ok; having said that - the low monthly payments? That's a year contract. I no longer own the property, still being charged for the next 3 months.
AND that 20% discount? They simply mark up the services and supplies.
Buyer beware.

After hiring a different company that created thousands of dollars in water damage to my home, I was extremely anxious about having any HVAC work done. My brother referred me to Apple Heating and Cooling, which is part of Blind and Sons. I could not be happier. They explained everything to me in plain English, were VERY thorough, and courteous! Their team is a great group of people that work well together, and it shows in their work. I have nothing but great things to say about this company. Highly recommended!

We used Blind and Sons to replace our furnace, a/c, water heater and whole home humidifier in mid-2018. In the 2 1/2 years since, I've had to have 2 other companies come out and fix the things they screwed up in the install (electrical wiring issues, plumbing run incorrectly) because they refuse to take responsibility for it.

They were a little higher than other places when they quoted the work but were available to do the install of everything the week we got the quote, so we went with them.

I will never use them for anything again. They take shortcuts to save time and money that cause issues, and then refuse to take any responsibility for the issues that arise from their poor workmanship.

The one star is for my most  recent experience with Blind and Sons, to be fair I will mention that they have been to my house to unclog my kitchen drain twice before and did a good job, so this review is for the plumber that came out last week, and for the company as a whole in how they handled my problem. For starters I will mention that their ads claim We'll clear any drain, anytime and also 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed! Last Wednesday, a plumber from Blind and Sons came to clear my clogged kitchen drain. I should have been suspicious when he didn't run the water in the kitchen for 5 minutes  to show me that it was clear, as their other plumbers did on their previous  visits. But because I used them before, I trusted them, so I paid him and he left. That evening when doing the dinner dishes I noticed the water in the sink backing up a little, each day after that it drained slower and slower. On my next day off, 5 days later I called and informed them of the problem and asked them to send someone out to fix it. Two days later, they sent the same plumber back and he told me that I would have to pay another $99 if  I want them to snake the drain again. I explained to him that it wasn't cleared right the first time and they took money, what about the 100% satisfaction guarantee they advertise, but he wouldn't budge. I called their office and spoke to their person that handles customer complaints and she wouldn't budge either. They refused to snake my drain again unless I paid them again. So now I am out a hundred dollars and my kitchen sink is still clogged.

Can I not select a star at all?. What a useless group of folks gathered together to operate a business. I spent $10k on a furnace installation, with new supply ducts ran in the attic, and they were supposed to seal up the existing cold air return. I had to baby sit the installers, damaged my ceiling installing the new vents. The vents were installed in such a way that they cant be opened or closed, due to the way they screwed the unit into place. This is all of them, and they look like they belong in a warehouse, not my home. The vents are of such cheap plastic, that when the heat is on the plastic vents in each room make a constant cracking sound, i guess due to heat expansion. What a wonderful thing to listen to when trying to watch television. The whole HVAC system was installed in my very small utility room COMPLETELY OPPOSITE of the way the salesman and I had discussed.
The installer had to install a condensate pump, and plumbed it to my existing plumbing with a clear hose. He ran that into a 90 degree PVC fitting, so when the pump turned on, the water overflowed, because it was flowing too fast for that bend. I had to re plumb that, using 45 degree fittings.
A year later, my $10 thousand dollar furnace(with a 10 year warranty) quit working. I mentioned that i thought it was a power surge, but Im not sure. The conversation quickly went to if it was that, we wont warranty anything and you will be responsible for the cost of the visit and parts. Are you kidding me?
Take my money and run. I called another Authorized Trane dealer, they quickly came out, determined the problem and WARRANTIED the part!!!!
Do your best to find another HVAC service provider before doing business with these clowns!!!

After waiting for another local plumber for SIX days, we were immediately contacted by Blind & Sons through our home warranty. Karl was a lifesaver, came to our home on time, and was very knowledgeable! We had a sewer line clogged by roots and were not able to use water while we waited for the other company. Karl cleared the line and came back the next week with a camera to confirm his diagnosis. He offered his honest opinion and advice! We cannot thank Blind & Sons enough and will be using them for future business. Their professionalism and prompt service are worth every penny!!!

Horrible experience with this company.. After reading other reviews, I can see I'm not alone...

Called them early Saturday morning for a bathtub drain that wasn't draining.. They told me they had a plumber in the area and they would give me a 30 minute notice of their arrival.. 8 hours later, receive a phone call saying a major problem has occurred and all of our plumbers need to go to fix it.. can we schedule you for monday?

I love how people think I was born yesterday...

Translation to their explanation:  it's five oclock on a Saturday and our plumber wants to go home.

I guess they can overlook that I wasted my entire Saturday waiting around the house for them!

On 12/10/2012 I had a tech out to perform routine maintenance on my furnace. He told my father, who was at the house at the time, that my furnace was cracked and needed to be repaired for about $800, but that he would seriously recommend replacing the furnace. He also said that my T&P valve on my hot water heater was defective and my breaker box needed to be replaced.

I was concerned about his recommendations, especially since I had replaced my T&P valve, and it is in perfect working order. My father-in-law, who is an electrical engineer, had looked at my breaker box previously and indicated it was also fine.

Before undertaking an expensive repair or replacement, I decided to get a second opinion. I called another HVAC company in my area and had them come out and check the furnace. The tech said there is nothing wrong with it and that it didn't need either a repair or replacement.

I had paid Blind $170, which was supposed to cover maintenance on the furnace and the A/C unit in the Spring. Other than taking the furnace apart and telling me it needed to be replaced, the Blind tech didn't perform any maintenance on the unit. My father asked him if he wanted to vacuum it out while he had it apart, and even offered to get the sweeper for him, but the tech said he wasn't going to bother cleaning anything.

I called Blind and, under their 100% money back satisfaction guarantee, requested my $170 back, especially since I not only won't let them service my A/C, I wouldn't let them in my house for any reason. After berating me for not taking the tech seriously and questioning his evaluation, the service manager said someone would call me back about refunding my money.

I haven't received a refund, and based on Blind's apparent business practices, am not at all confident I will ever get it.

We've had two experiences with this company and neither was positive.  The first was for a scheduled maintenance call that somehow got dropped on their side - no call - no show.

We gave them the benefit of the doubt and had them quote on a new A/C system for our house.  We had an original written quote but then did additional negotiating with the salesman over the phone.  He promised a better price if they could install in their slow season (Feb) and promised a callback during that time to schedule the install.

The promised call never came.  Followed up myself a month later and was told they could no longer honor that verbal price (despite my documented date/time of the call) and offered a substantially higher price to do the install.  The new price was verbally quoted as well, so obviously not much gets documented via paper or email.

We are going with another vendor.  Can't speak to the quality of their systems, but if you choose to work with them get everything in writing!!

Called last week to have new switches installed for my disposal and dishwasher.
I told them that I need someone there before 2PM because I get ready and leave for work in the afternoon. Told them this bit of information several times.
Scheduled for Thursday - no show. Called them back and asked them what happened; they had a technician in Louisville but he'd be there the rest of the day so we need to reschedule. Told them again that they need to be there and finish before 2PM.
Scheduled for Friday - no show. Called them back and got a different operator this time; her notes from the previous operator said technicians had to be there AFTER 2PM.
Apparently listening comprehension not a big requirement to work in their office.
Rescheduled for Tuesday - no show. Called back again and the first operator was back at the helm unfortunately, and told me that they only schedule the first call of the day and go from there.
So what does it take to get scheduled first call of the day?
At this point I no longer care - I found another company eager, considerate, and much more competent than the subject of this review.

I had my working furnace cleaned by them.  When they guy was closing it up, something shorted out to the tune of $3000.  I replaced the circuit board, motor - on a unit that was functioning when they got there.  Oh and forget their coupons - you will NEVER get to use one, they never seem to apply.  Anyway, I paid the repair as it was February and very cold and I have pets.  Now, 10 months later, it is not heating the air.  So I call them and since I have a service contract with them, my service call will only be $60 - not the usual $120.  (very high) - that was at 8 this morning. I was told that whenever a guy was in my area and finished up his call, he would be over with 30 minutes notification - but she could not tell me when anyone was working in my area.  No idea.    Mind you - I have no heat and I should be at work.  It is now 1:30 - and even if I got a call this second, it would be 2:00 before they would show.  So I have sat home ALL day for nothing, running my oven to keep the kitchen warm.  I just called a local shop and someone will be here at 4:00.  My day is shot and it is too late to go to work but I would not use these guys ever again.  They are very slick, everything is automated and online - a case of a local company that got too big I think.  Very aggravated.

They did a great job for me installing a new water heater, but don't expect them to ever return a call or show up when you tell them you have an emergency, despite the fact they advertise they have 24 hour emergency service.

I called them Monday at 6:45am in regards to a plumbing emergency. The secretary said she would give my information to dispatch. It is now 9:10am on THURSDAY and I never received a call back nor has anyone come by the house. Fortunately, I was smart enough to contact another company later Monday morning and the issue was promptly fixed.

Update - it is now Sunday, June 27. I still haven't received a call back from your emergency services department, Blind & Sons! I guess you guys think an emergency can be put off. ‍

Booked them ahead of time over two weeks for them to cancel on me on the day of, due to emergency calls of no heat. I haven't had heat for over a month and I'm not considered an emergency??? Now asking nearly double for what was originally quoted for to be seen on the day my appointment that was made over two weeks ago??? Just for them to see if my furnace works. I needed a full inspection. Just turn it on to see if it works! How do they know if I have a gas leak? I just bought the house and it's a old furnace. I had them here for electrical last week and now definitely second guessing them for work I want done that's worth over six grand. I have the money in hand to pay for a new furnace, if needed and all the electrical work. SMH. I added them to my list of no shows. Complete waste of time.

My garbage disposal need to be replaced so I picked up a new unit to install. I contacted Blind& Sons for an estimate but they could not quote on the phone but did offer free in home estimate. I was fine with this because I knew the pricing should be $100 to $140 based on my research. When the tech arrived the estimate came back at $260 plus tax to replace. When I asked why so expense they said they don't charge by the hour they charge by the job. If that is the case why could they not quote over the phone??? Anyway I called in to ask if they could do any better and they said No. I asked the tech to leave. I called 3 places to get a price over the phone and not one came back over $125.  I had another crew at my house in less than 3 hours.

Run far away from this company. They charge for a premium service, and inreturn you'll get the most sloppy installation job ever. It's a shame that they charge $7500 for a new hvac install, and what you'll get for that is scratch & dent units, cold water, and air ducts not connected. And when you send pics to your project manager (Jim Jones), he'll claim you're ridiculous and starting to get under his skin.

Their install crews are all young with minimum years of experience. Wonder why? They rush to get done by 5pm whether the job is done right or not. They'll smoke on your property, act disrespectful when they talk to you, and large amounts of horseplay going on in your own home. Very unprofessional.

What a shame what the 2 owners Joe Bolotta and John Hartmann have done to a company Mr. Blind founded on integrity...you have been warned.

***UPDATE***

So we decided to have the install done by a real professional. We chose to go with Trane and filed a complaint with Lennox, and the city.

The city inspector came out and was in awe about what he saw. Blind and Sons are no longer allowed permits for my city. As we were cleaning up their mess, we noticed our brand new concrete step roundly chipped. The loser technician had dropped the hot water tank and broke the step. Of course Blind says they're not responsible. We have hired an attorney and will be seeing these clowns in court.

Please everyone. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. THEY WILL ROB YOU OF YOUR HARD WORKING MONEY AND GIVE YOU A JOKE OF AN INSTALL. RUN RUN RUN FAR AWAY!!!

So it's November of 2018 we bought ac and the thermostat from here they installed it back in May or April of this year 2018. For months we've been experiencing a sort of hold on the thermostat. No matter how many times we try to fix it ourselves with the 6 buttons on it and pointless instructions. Which don't help at all. It always goes back to hold and keeps our house at maybe 70 sometimes 68 and I did say it's November and it's freezing out! I called to ask for help and Courtney tell me it would be 120$ fee for them to come out if  the thermostat is not under warranty. Uh we have t had it a whole year and I don't know if there is or not a warranty but doesn't matter I will NOT give this company any more money for this bs. I have two small children in this house and they need heat. I'm so upset with their customer service alllllll this money my hubs and paid them for our thermostat to be a box of junk. Well go elsewhere and get a new thermostat and never deal with this crap again!!! 120$ to push some buttons. Y'all must be rich!!!

Update: I had finally called again and talked with the manager. She helped me out and sent the technician out cuz I caved and need heat and to my surprise...it was this bs programmable thermostat that no one told me I had to always have my setting programs on the temperature I want it on....I don't get it that you have to keep programming it when I don't want to use the schedule. Whatever it's working now cuz the technician pushed the buttons and changed it....he was very nice But I still don't like this program crap.

I have used them for all of my heating and cooling needs, has been pricey but seemed worth it at the time.  The last two estimates for plumbing and gas line work were ridiculously high.  The estimators came across a little rude and arrogant as well.  I am pleased to say that I found another company that is reputable that came out and did the work with a smile and for half blind and sons estimated price... Did I mention they were friendly and nice!  I will never be using blind and sons again. Ever!
