Reviews
Benjamin Franklin plumbing flat out refused to give us an over the phone ballpark price to have our main drain snaked, but they seemed like trusted name brand and we have had this service done in the past so we had them out for an estimate. After doing a 30 second visual diagnostic the technician informed me that it would be $350 on top of the $50 service fee to do a job that has never cost me more than $150 from anyone else.
I declined but wanted to speak to the home office before paying the $50 service fee. The rep at the office had difficulty processing my card and made it extremely clear that she thought it was my fault.
In the end, I called someone else and had the job, that took 45 minutes, done for $150 and paid the $50 service for the privilege of not dealing with Benjamin Franklin ever again.
I had a leaking pipe under kitchen sink and called Franklin(sadly) because I go through willias heating and cooling(great company). It took weeks to get someone out to fix it and when they came to fix the problem they fixed it for 4 days. So I call again and have to wait again for weeks, during the winter; with water just pooling up in my basement now.
This time they can not find the leak lol, all my pipes are literally in a 3x3x4 area(which is where the problem is, dripping down into basement). Can not find the leak with the ceiling falling down and dripping. So they, for God only knows why; disconnect the water to my dishwasher, turn it on and turn on the heater. I have never smelled anything like what happened, they fried my pumps in dishwasher(only year and a half old) and then tell me its a flue pipe going up through the roof. Even though the dripping continues when it doesn't rain for several weeks: even though when it does rain the dripping does not increase 1 bit... I have checked the pipe up there, it is fine.
These guys at Ben Franklin plumbing are not plumbers they are demolition men! If you want to pay someone to act like they know what they are doing and destroy your utilities, then by all means give them all call!!
This is not even mentioning how they NEVER answer any of my 5 emails about the incident, or how I cancelled my yearly plan with them, YET they still access my credit card and pull out money without my consent. So I end up having to call the police since they are literally stealing from my credit card and destruction of private property(from negligence) currently in process of bringing them to court to pay for the damages THEY caused.
Avoid all this, by NOT calling Ben Franklin!!!!!
Excellent service on my sump pump. Highly recommended this company.
They sent out a plumber to look at my water heater. Without running any tests or even touching my water heater he told me I would need a rebuild that would require a special thermostat to be ordered and would cost $1200. I went and bought everything that was needed for $45 from a plumbing supply store (nothing special about the thermostat) and did the rebuild myself. This didn't fix the problem because there wasn't anything wrong with the water heater in the first place. It was an electrical issue inside the breaker box.
So in short, this company tried to charge me $1200 for a job that took less than an hour and that didn't even need to be done. Beware.
Zero percent recommend. Just got charged $60 dollars as a service fee for a 2 minute consultation/quote for a water heater replacement that was outrageously overpriced. Go with another company.

This company is the worst. We purchased a phase 1 hot water heater, per the website we purchased it from. The plumber came out and had to have an eletrican put in new board. No problem. The plumber installed the hot water heater and found it wasn't working because it was actually a phase 3 water heater. I would think the plumber would have known that before installing. We purchased a new hot water heater - phase 1 from Home Depot. We are trying to get Ben Frank to install the new one at a discount or free since we feel he should have seen that right away. We have called many times and they say someone will get back with you but nobody does. Horrible customer service.
Also, I called yesterday at 10:30 and they just now called me back, 1:30.
Today new plumber came out from Thomas Plumbing to put in new hot water heater and we found out that BFP messed up the wiring so again no hot water heater. Called BFP and cannot get anyone out until Monday. Plus this is for an apartment bldg so they have been without for a while now.
Ask for rates before you call!!
My home warranty folks sent Benjamin Franklin to fix a couple of valves. The repair was to be cover by the warranty, but the plumber said he might had to cut an access into the wall (only drywall); which understandable. This would not be covered by the warranty. They quoted $152 just to open an access into drywall! Not to repair it after... Only to make the hole! I'm sorry, but this sounds like a rip off... Decided not to do the job with them.
I cannot comment on quality of the service.

Had them come out to fix a very simple ring on a toilet. Charged us 280.00 + 49.00 service fee for 10 min of work. And... they didn't even fix the right one. Had to come back and fix the right one a week later. Way over priced. Customer service wasn't bad but their fees are ridiculous.

I scheduled with this company for some plumbing work. They have great reviews on other sites. When I scheduled I was told there is a $49 assessment fee only if I chose not to have the work completed. I did in fact have the work completed which was fine. When I received the bill the $49 fee was included. I called three times on different days to speak to someone about the charge. I was told it was the answering service, the national call center, and the last lady told me she would send an email to escalate the call. Not once did I receive a call back. The company obviously doesn't value their customers, and has lost my repeat business.

I have a downspout drain partially occluded so I called Benjamin Franklin up to do a service call. The would not disclose prices over the phone because they weren't sure what the obvious problem would be. They show up, it's obvious what the problem is so he pulls out his book... $400 to snake out a 25 foot, easily accessible pipe from the street. It was almost as if I waited around all day for some stranger to show up just so I could hand over $50. I really feel like I was just robbed. Whole transaction took less than 3 minutes. He backed into the driveway, walked up to the door, opened his book, left with my $50.
I was looking for a new water heater. I purchased a one time visit from a seller of annual visits.
The plumber came and perfuntorily checked his list but did not go throught it with me. He tried to charge $3999 for water heater and installation. This was with a 5% discount.
I checked home depot and they will sell and install same type water heater for $1789.
So bejamin franklin appeared to try to take advantage of an old man
This was a mediocre to poor experience. I would never recommend them for anything.

I wish I could give zero stars. I wouldn't recommend even calling for a quote because you will never receive it. We had an agent come to our home and spend an hour talking through the large project we wanted quoted. He said we'd have the quote the next day and it's now been 3 weeks without anything. I've called the office 6 times and each time I'm told they're emailing or someone will call me back that day, but that never happens. They are unable to give me any appropriate timeline or even tell if the quote is done. At this point I won't even use them if their quote were to ever show and they were the cheapest! Horrible management of a business.
Every time a guy name Chad comes I get overcharged he's charging me twice this is the second time I got overcharged with him but when the other guys comes they do the job I get charged only once he's money hungry and he's not doing a good job either.

We recently had Ben Franklin plumbing out to check for a leak in our water system. They found the leak in the front yard with the help of another company that was able to detect the leak from ground level. With the spot of the leak identified they were able to dig down and repair the leak. They did not have to dig up our hole yard like other companies wanted to. We saved hundreds of dollars and a big mess in our yard. Things went so well, we know use Ben Franklin Plumbing at our business too.
I am writing an update to the business's comment. I spoke to the manager of the business while service was being performed and after the fact when I contacted the business to complain. I was told he was the head. He told me that's the way they do business and that their competitors do the same. I recently had Anderson Plumbing at our house and they charged me for time and materials. I will continue using their sister company Willis one hour. In fact they are coming in 1 week.
