This company has split into two divisions as of 2021... the electrical side kept wanting to charge me for undone work as well as the bathroom remodeling. They also send out very young guys who are lazy and don't do quality work. They left my bath vanity unhinged from the wall, electrical that was not to code, would leave unfinished work before 4 pm and say they would come back next week and then want to charge more. The only reason I'm not giving them a one star is because the HVAC side is actually decent.

We have been customers with A-Abel for many years and have been very happy with their service.  Our most recent need had to do with a slow running shower drain,  the entire clean out took less than an hour.

Easy to schedule and appreciate how quick Nick was to respond and coordinate our service. Brian was great--called ahead, patient in explaining the water heater differences, spent several hours replacing gas and water lines and added shut off valves. The result was a much more functional looking setup with easier access to shutoffs.  Brian thoroughly tested everything and left the place neat and clean  Their entire staff is very friendly and will call back when you need an answer or information.  We are very impressed and pleased with their work and will use A-Abel again.  Thanks!

Their prices are CRAZY HIGH!! When scheduling an appt the receptionist told me it was $50 for a travel fee to come out & that IF there were any additional costs that the technician would tell me once he looked at the job. The technician arrived & asked if anyone had discussed pricing with me & I said no, not other than the $50. He said it was $50 plus $40 FOR EVERY 15 MINUTES!! That's $160 and HOUR!! I had no choice other than to go ahead with the job because I needed my piping unhooked and water valve replaced so my water would turn off for a kitchen remodel that was happening in less than 24 hours. He came back out after the counter and sink were installed to install the new faucet & hook the piping back up & said that because it was a new product & not the one he unhooked that there was a $300 charge just to put the faucet on, plus the $50 travel fee, plus I needed some piping re-configured to fit the new sink, which he said the parts wouldn't be cheap & at a whopping labor cost of $40 every 15 MINUTES! Needless to say I cancelled the appt., which really sucked because I had set my alarm & woke up at 7:00am expecting them anytime within my scheduled window of 8:00am-12:00pm... after calling the receptionist twice after 12:00 wondering where they were the receptionist said it was miscommunication & they didn't end up arriving until 3:30pm. So I waited 8 hours only to be let down! I will say that the technicians are very friendly, knowledgeable & professional, but at those prices who can afford to hire them!!

Need a quote on some electrical work and a plumbing leak. Was told they'd have to send out two different technicains and was going to cost $49.95 for each one. No thanks. I'll move on to a company that won't nickle and dime me.

Update: A few weeks ago, I had this company come back out to replace my hot water heater. It was old and leaked water all over my house. I ended up with Mike as my technician. He was great! We ran into some problems that were not at all the fault of the company, and he did not complain one time. Basically, we had to bring in HVAC to move some stuff and they came right over on a Friday afternoon go help out. Mike came back on Saturday morning, which was his day off, to finish the job. He said he was not going to leave my family without hot water all weekend. I also needed help from the A-Abel office and Nick to gather info for my home warranty company, and everyone was super helpful and accommodating. Truthfully, I have now used this company twice (original review is below) and they have been prompt, friendly, knowledgeable, and just plain easy to deal with. I will definitely use them in the future and recommend them to others.

Needed a part replaced on my hot water heater. My home warranty company would not provide a service contractor so I had to find my own. Honestly, I used A Abel because I see them advertised a lot. I had no other reason for calling them. The lady on the phone was very nice. She could sense my frustration, and was quick, thorough, and incredibly polite.

The technician, Steve S. was also great. He was very polite. He also had to put up with a million questions from my home warranty company, and he stayed on the phone with them for about ten minutes telling them the same thing over and over, and he was incredibly kind to them even though it was very frustrating to answer the same question over and over. He was able to quickly diagnose the problem, give me a quote, and an estimated time to fix everything. He was kind to my child and made small talk while he was working. I know some people don't care about that, but it put me at ease. Oh! He also wore the little blue booties over his shoes. I hate it when technicians walk around my house without the booties. Bonus points for him putting them on right away!

It does suck that there is a trip charge no matter what. It did cost me an extra 49 bucks because of that, but his quality of service was worth it.

We recently had A-Able out to do some electrical work...our electrician's name was Caleb and he did an absolutely amazing job!  Service was quick, friendly and professional.  Most importantly was the fact that when he was done, he made sure that everything was working and that we were satisfied with the results.  We will definitely use them again!!!!

A Abel completed a bathroom remodel for our home. They did a beautiful job, the price was reasonable, and they coped with a number of unexpected issues due to amateurish work that had been done by a prior owner of the home. My wife and I are very satisfied with the result.

I have used A-abel in the past and have always been impressed but my most recent experience was top-notch!  Jacob and his team including Adam and Tyler were prompt, friendly, explained everything and great.  Highly recommend them to anyone who needs help with electric, plumbing, ac/furnace/hvac, or practically anything you need.  Need help?  Call A-abel and see if they do it - if they don't - they might start doing it soon!

The technician John arrived  to my surprise Promptly @ 12. The window given was 12-5. Very professional appearance. My carpets look like new, and they were in rough shape. The tech did not try to sell me extra services or products, he used what my carpets needed. He did not  rush and leave a mess behind like many other companies. The carpets were damp as expected but not soaking wet. He cleaned up after he was done, made sure all water from hoses was wiped up. My first experience with AAbel and I will use them again in the future for other services.  Very pleased.

Parents had a system installed 5 years ago from a abel. Each year have had issues. This year the heat wave that has hit the ac wasn't working. Called them to come out and the tech told my Mom that her whole system needed replaced and would cost $8k. I called another company to come out for a second opinion and they fixed it for $500 blowing ice cold air. My father past away and my mom isn't in the healthiest shape. So the heat was really getting to her. A company that prides itself on family sure didn't act like it telling her she needed a whole new system. That's beyond messed up. The tech from a abel wasn't even there for 30 minutes and told her it was all bad. For another company to actually care about their customer to look into the issue and fixed it the following day after they checked it out. Flat out horrible. And I used to recommend a abel to everyone for all their needs. I'd feel like crap if something like this happened to someone and I suggested this company.

We had three electrical outlets quit working. We called A-Abel. They were at our house within a couple of hours and fixed the problem promptly. Chris was very friendly and competent. We would definitely use A-Abel again if we needed electrical work done.

We had a pipe burst above our sump pump so the water that was supposed to go out, came back into the basement.  So we called A-Abel at 5:39 on a Friday. We called the emergency number and was told it would be $300 just to come out. And he sounded like he really didn't want to come over. But he did tell my husband how to shut off the sump pump.  The problem with that is we have a very high water table and keeping the pump off will cause the water to back up.  The guy said to call A-Abel first thing Saturday morning to get someone over to check the pipe. My husband called at 8:03 and was told that they were booked solid and couldn't get there till Monday.  I now have a new plumber and will not use their other services.

A-Able treated my house for bed bugs. $1,000 and much disruption later I still had bed bugs. I came home after the heat treatment, went in the bath room and saw a bed bug run across the floor. They are now back in force. They do not offer a guarantee so I still have bed bugs and I'm out $1,000.

I had plumbing work done on the home I was selling while I was out of town.  I returned to find no water pressure in my sink, debris in my bathtub, dirt where the work was performed and a large hole in my wall.  The technician also left the light on in the area where the work was conducted.  I was not notified of the damage.  I had to scramble to get the hole repaired and the areas cleaned prior to closing on this home.  It seemed like the technician had no regard at all for my property.  I would not recommend this business!

Had an electrician out for a minor repair.  Good, fast work, professional and personable employees.  As with many companies like this, you need to set aside half a day to wait for them, which is a pain, but not unusual.  Took one star off for non-transparent cost structure.  I expected to pay ~$150 for an electrician visit so wasn't too surprised, but when I called they said $50 for a visit and then would quote me the full price after they saw the job.  Turns out 'evaluating' the job was another $120 for the first hour on top of the $50 for walking in the door.  They really should have said that on the phone.  So you will pay minimum $170 for anything that requires 'evaluation.'

Our basement flooded with a backed up drain line. I called at 7pm and their service is available 10pm. I never received a call back from a rep. I contacted them and the chat was terminated by A-Able with no answers.

We sent a private message to address these issues, but they didn't care enough to respond. Service was bad. Tub was installed incorrectly and caused a major leak. Read more below:  

We were very dissatisfied with the service we received, and even more so that we still have not been contacted for a follow-up by a representative from your company.

We had a leak from our bathtub that caused damage in the ceiling below the bathroom. Upon inspection, your tech recommended we have the bathtub replaced due to rust. We spent $5,000 to replace the bathtub and the walls surrounding the tube. We were told that it would take 1-1.5 days.

Our first bad experience was with the installation schedule, which wound up taking 2 full days. On the second day, work was supposed to begin at 8am. The tech arrived and told us that he, and all other techs, had been called into the shop to have GPS installed on their trucks. Luckily, he was able to borrow a car to return to the job, but the job started late and he took over an hour in the middle of the job to drive to Aabel to see if his truck was ready. He also left tools in his truck, but luckily, we had some tools for him to borrow. My question to your company is, why did the GPS have to be installed at that very moment? Why interrupt a paying customer's job in order to do that? Very bad business on your part and it shows a great disrespect to your customer.

Our next bad experience, and the one that by far will prevent us from ever using your company again or recommending you to anyone else: the tub was not installed properly!!! Unfortunately, after the first use, I came downstairs to find that our tub had drained into the kitchen, the very problem that we had called you out to fix in the first place! An Aabel plumber came out the next day and found several things wrong: a nut had not been tightened and the tub/waste overflow AND the drain were loose and not sealed. It seems as though this type of thing should be checked, and double-checked, before signing off on a job. And yet, we were left with a kitchen full of water due to this complete oversight by your tech.

What upsets me the most is that if we had not had tiny holes drilled in our sealing due to the previous leak, we NEVER would have known there was a problem! How long would it have taken for that water damage to show in our home?! How many other homes have you worked on that this may have happened to? And how long will it take for those homes to show the water damage?

We spent $5000 with your company and NO ONE has bothered to call to follow-up on this issue or even offer an apology. We are very disappointed with your service and lack of quality. We will not be using you again or referring you to anyone else we know.

Very pleased with the work of Caleb.  He gave me estimates for the work I wanted done and explained it clearly to me.   I was impressed how quickly they were able to come out to my house and accomplish the work.

He installed two recessed ceiling lights in the kitchen, added an outlet in a closet, trouble-shooted two other outlets that were not working and fixed them.

Work ethic was great and he cleaned up afterwards.

We got our new furnace on 3/1/19. The techs James and Robert were wonderful, they were prompt, very professional and friendly and knew what they were doing.  They also explained everything to us and showed us how to work the thermostat. They told us if we had any problems don't hesitate to call for some assistance. They cleaned up behind themselves. It was a job well done .  We certainly would recommend them to others.They're our heating company to call.   Thank you James and Robert and the Abel Family for your services.

OUT $1457+.  Stay away!!! Negligent technicians!!!

HVAC technician installed a 220v blower motor for a 120v system in February of 2015(wrong blower motor, but I didn't know at the time). In July of 2015 a different technician from AAbel came to my home to perform an inspection/service on my HVAC system. This technician completely missed the wrong motor install even though I told him it was VERY HOT upstairs. He simply said my System is about to go out and I should replace it if I had any repairs over $300. I took his word for it and started shopping for units.
Fast forward to now.... I have a separate company come out to troubleshoot my AC system based on some friends suggestion and the non AAbel technician finds the wrong motor installed within ten minutes....wHAT!!!! I've been suffering with high electric bills and discomfort because of AAbels lack of competence this whole time!!!!
I called AAbel the next day and the service manager apologizes and says he will reimburse for initial motor install, 2 service calls by AAbel, and the outside companies diagnosis($706.50). All I had to do was send him an invoice with the company saying the wrong part is installed.... Awesome, I thought I would have to fight this!!! Wait...
I get an email the next day saying they will not reimburse me, they want to fix it. I explained I will not be letting a company with a history of technical negligence into my home. Besides, I've already made a verbal agreement with another company to fix it based on what the service manager told me the day earlier.  They continue to refuse reimbursement. So, I'm out a total of $1457.50, not including the window units I had to buy and future legal fees. Ohhh and by the way, from what The service tech told me that fixed it right, low airflow through an HVAC system can damage it.... Please stay away and tell your friends. I know I have!!!!

On a bright side, a competent technician from a different company installed the right part and its working perfectly.

UPDATE: AAbel has reimbursed me for the original amount agreed upon.

have had other positive experiences with this company but today was a poor representation of their service and personnel.  I needed an estimate on replacing a bathroom ceiling fan and replacing a couple snake alarms.  I had already bought one replacement smoke alarm.  I was quoted $50 to replace both smoke alarms, $49 trip charge, and $120 for a Level 1 diagnostic on the bathroom exhaust fan.

He said $200 to $300 more if a new motor was required, or $500 to $600 if new housing required.  I told him that was too much for the fan, so just the smoke alarms.  He then told me he was not charging me enough if he takes out the fan work and had to raise the price on the smoke alarm installations.  

I told him he already quoted me and could not change the price and he said I had not signed an  estimate yet and just looked at me.  I then called the office and told them I was not paying a trip charge and asked to talk to his manager but he was not in.  I was on hold for another manager but my phone disconnected while holding.

The gentlemen then said he would call someone, out then on speaker, and proceeded to lie to the person (Bob?) saying he had told me when he quoted me he was giving me a deal on smoke alarm installation for doing the bathroom exhaust fan work.  I told the gentlemen in the phone this was never told to me, I would like his worker to leave, and I expected not to see a trip charge.  The gentlemen on the phone told the electrician to take him off speaker phone, then the guy got up and said he was told to leave and left the house.

I am very disappointed in having someone try to jack up the price after a quote and then lie about it on the phone.  This was unprofessional and while I suspect this is likely an isolated incident and employee, it reflects poorly on the company as a whole.

Water pressure went out on a Sunday night so I called the emergency service line.  The guy on the phone was very sweet and walked me through what might be the issue.  He said a technician would call first thing in the morning between 0800-0830 to set up a time to come to the house...surprise surprise, no phone call.  I followed up at 0845 and the receptionist on the phone had Monday morning brain and tried scheduling me for an HVAC appointment when I clearly said twice No water pressure.  By the time she figured out what a WELL and WATER PRESSURE to ZERO means all of the appointments were booked for the day meaning I would have to pay for emergency service response after 5pm.  I have a pregnant renter with zero water pressure.  Calling someone more competent.

We've had A Abel do some light electrical, plumbing, and furnace work. Each time a technician came they were courteous, knowledgable, and HONEST. They fixed only what needed to be fixed and didn't try to up sell. When called for a minor plumbing issue, they told us about an easy fix and then didn't charge us for the call. It seems you can trust them, and we really like that! We've yet to be disappointed!

Stay away.  Will charge you $50 for a trip charge just to evaluate the job.  Once they get there they'll tell you the actual price.  They won't tell you that $50 does not get applied to the job at hand.  So a very minor repair will cost you $150+.  We needed a single elbow joint replaced, $150!!!! took the kid less than 30 min to complete the task.

Find someone else.

You guys literally saved our asses especially when our home warranty company subcontractors thoroughly f***** up the situation excuse my French. A*able and their tech Cody that was sent out to us today did a phenomenal job He's a great employee as far as I'm concerned.  And he really knows his business when it comes to plumbing he took a nightmare and turned it into a dream thank you so much to you and to Cody big brownie points!!!!
as for D &B plumbing out of Xenia they thoroughly suck at their business and their job Don't use them whatsoever
A*Able responded quickly and stayed in communication. D&b plumbing company and tech wouldn't even answer that phone 2 minutes after they pulled out of my driveway saying that everything was perfect! when it only took me 2 minutes to realize it wasn't done right or thorough at all

This company came in a cleaned registers and ducts for my home at 1039-1041 Highland Ave.  The renters moved out not paying rent for 6 months and left bugs.  It has a horrible stink left by Anthony Westerman and Brenda Slusher Westerman.  A-Abels service allowed me to sell the property....what asses and slugs the Westerman's ARE.  Thank you A-Abel for helping me get property under control!   Very appreciative of A-Abel for their service

From the call to set an appointment to the time my electrical technician left my home, Aabel was professional and up front with all fees. Service call fee was about half of other companies. I also felt my technician took plenty of time to explain my options. A+
