Description

Raleigh Heating and Air provides service on all brands with NATE certified technicians, free custom replacement quotes and factory trained installers. We specialize in total home comfort by offering routine maintenance programs, indoor air quality solutions, heating and air systems, plumbing, water treatments, and backflow services.

HISTORY

Established in 1992.
In 1992, new home construction was booming in the Raleigh area. Most HVAC contractors were putting all of their available work force towards installing equipment in new residential homes. As a result, if you owned a 10-year-old home, and your air conditioner stopped working on a 100-degree day, it was very difficult to find anyone to repair or replace that system. Raleigh Heating & Air was born to fill that need. Like most start-ups, we began in a garage with 1 pick-up truck and 2 employees. Today we are over 100 coworkers, a modern building with someone to answer your call 7 days a week, and a fleet of service and installation vehicles ready to serve home owners across the Triangle. While we have grown, the company is still run on the concept of personal service from a family-owned perspective. We understand our customers and treat them as people and not numbers. We warranty all of our work and are easily contacted for future service needs. We stand by our work!

I called them on a Friday night to come fix an urgent plumbing issue. The told me dispatch would call me back. They never did. I'm glad I didn't wait too long before finding another plumber. Despite their claim of leaving a voicemail, I did not get one.

Kevin came out to clean and check our system.  The unit is quieter and the interior and exterior are spotless. I was impressed with Kevin's friendly and professional service. I would call them again.

Our experience with Raleigh Heating & Air couldn't have been better.

Our home was built in the mid-80s, and we found that our upstairs was not being cooled at all. It was consistently 10-15 degrees warmer than the downstairs - pretty unbearable for any guests who stayed with us. We assumed we needed a new A/C unit, but it turned out after consulting with four different companies that the entire HVAC system was a disaster and needed to go.

We went with Raleigh Heating & Air because of their outstanding customer service. Other HVAC companies sent out sales consultants who spent 15-20 minutes with us, tops. Cody Oliver, from RH&A, made two visits to our home, spending an hour with us each time. I was unable to make it home in time for the first visit, so he made a point to come back and explain everything to me also. He did an extremely thorough job and answered all of our questions - providing photos of our current system and explaining the work that needed to be done. It was very helpful and appreciated, especially since the replacement was so extensive.

The installation crew couldn't have done a better job. What was scheduled to be a three-day job was completed in just two and the quality of work is stellar. We now have a modern, efficient and quiet system that is keeping our home comfortable.

You may be able to find a contractor who can do the work for less, but you'll be hard pressed to find a company that provides the level of customer service and craftsmanship that Raleigh Heating & Air does. We will be recommending them to everyone.

I found these guys about 15 years ago, when the heater went out in my old house. They came out within hours and had us warm.

Since then, I've had to put full systems into a townhouse and now our new house. Each time, I've sought other quotes and each time, these guys have been either lower or so close, they were willing to match the other quotes.

Their workmanship has been great, they take all the time needed for questions and I've been very happy with the results.

We keep the service plan, too. It's come in handy a few times. With fast service and honest work.

I highly recommend them.

I contracted them to replace my very aged existing a/c unit. They arrived on time and completed the work in a timely fashion. They took care to protect the carpet,  etc when working inside. After a day of the new system working properly, there was a minor problem that needed to be fixed. They came immediately and corrected the problem. I won't hesitate to do business with them again, and would recommend them to anyone.

My A/C stopped blowing cold air this past Friday and, after reading the reviews here, I scheduled Raleigh Heating and Air to come out to my home as early as they could which ended up being yesterday, Monday 06/28, between noon and 5pm. This is the only, very minor, complaint that I have. Since, like most people, I have to work during the day I had to take a half day off to ensure that I was there when they arrived.

That aside, my technician, Buddy, was fantastic! He was professional and was able to diagnose the problem in ~10 minutes. He laid out all of my options and explained the pro's and con's of each one in an unbiased manner. He was able to fix the issue, a burnt out capacitor, in about 45 minutes and all without breaking the bank (total cost was $290). I will continue to use Raleigh Heating and Air for all of my future HVAC needs and highly recommend you do as well. (ask for Buddy, you won't regret it).

I wanted to purchase a new system, so I made an appt with Raleigh Heating and Air today.  They never showed during the scheduled appt time and  never called.  If they don't appreciate a customer's time during purchasing , makes you wonder what overall service they provide during installation / repair.

They were quick to respond the 2nd time I called.  First call was during the snow storm and they just didn't have the resources and ability to travel.  They did not follow up with the call for several weeks. Once they did show up, the tech was friendly and nice. He found out the problem and resolved it.  It was a damper that needed adjusting.  They charged me $65 for just pushing a damper down with his hand.  That was on top of the $95 service call fee.  Was here less than 30 mins.  Seems like a lot for someone to just push a lever.  Not even sure that will fix the problem long term since we do not know why it wasn't in the right position to begin with.  Not happy with that fee for that service. It didn't require tools or any time to speak of really.  I think a service fee and some small charge would be more appropriate and fair.

I had a leaking coil diagnosed by another company.  Unfortunately, the first company could not do the repair as they were not an authorized dealer.  I called Raleigh Heating as they are authorized and the person the phone said it would be a $99 diagnostic fee.  I scheduled the appointment.  Two guys came out and took a quick look and said the unit is leaking refrigerant.  They then stated it would be another $135 fee to diagnose where the leak was coming from.  This fee took me by surprise as I thought the $99 diagnostic fee was for 'diagnosing' the issue.  Apparently not.  When making the appointment, they should disclose there may be additional fees.  This was never done in my case.  Regardless, I paid my $99 fee, kicked them out (this was not the repair guys fault - more so on management who they contacted) and will give the business to another company who plays fairly.  Raleigh Heating lost a $3000-$4000 job because they felt like nickel and diming a potential customer.

Purchased new HVAC unit in 2018 from Raleigh Heating and Air. The following up program was spotty at best. They used Covid as excuse for not providing pre-paid service. When I called to cancel they  failed to follow up. Subsequent calls resulted in people refusing to speak to me and hiding behind receptionist. I suggest avoiding this company as there are likely more reliable options.

We recently hired this company to replace our HVAC unit and duct work. These people are swindlers and love to pull the old Bait & Switch on people.
Long story short...When they came out to do the job, they pulled the old unit from the house and THEN told us that it would cost another $2,000 (in addition to the agreed upon cost) to complete the job. When we informed them that an extra $2,000 was out of our budget, they walked.
Do NOT...I repeat..Do NOT hire these tricksters. They make their money by duping people!!

I called Wednesday morning with water in my basement from my air conditioner condensate.  They were able to come to my house the same day and diagnose and fix the problem (failed condensate pump and blocked discharge line).  Josef took the time to explain the issue and discuss my options including pricing.  I definitely recommend Raleigh Heating & Air to anyone.

I called late on a Monday night and they got me scheduled for Wednesday. The tech Kevin Rabon was prompt and polite and explained to me the issue (part of which I knew but had no idea how bad it was) and the concerns.  He went under the house and inspected the heating unit also and had me cleaned and set to go very quickly, did not leave a mess at all, and made me feel very comfortable and confident in the work done.  I would highly recommend the company and Kevin.  I will certainly use them again although I hope i do not have a need to anytime soon

January 2017:
I have had my follow up, which they were nice enough to call me to schedule and Josef was on time, polite, and wonderful. He explained his findings in a way I understood and I will certainly be using this company again and will happily refer friends and family to use them

Review Updated:

The Raleigh Heating & Air team reached out to me for additional details of the experience, and we worked out a solution that made everyone happy.  In the end, I'm satisfied--and I would stress again that all of their technicians have been good to work with.  I wish it didn't take a little bit of a runaround to get to a good place, but I'm happy to say that we've reached an agreement.

-------------
Old review (1 star):

Ordered complete install of new furnace and air conditioner ($8k job).  About two weeks after installation, the thermostat failed due to faulty installation.  (It was obvious to me that it was a thermostat issue because I jiggled the device and it briefly came back on before losing power permanently.)

We ordered a service call on a 90-degree Saturday (I have a three-year-old, a two-year-old, and a six-month old), after which the HVAC technical--though exceptionally personable and pleasant, was unable to diagnose the issue (in spite of my description of the issue and suggestion that it was a thermostat issue).  He was convinced that the issue was electrical and claimed there was no voltage to the heat pump.  (After he left, I noticed that he had not flipped the breaker back on after disconnecting it for safety reasons...not surprising that he did not have power).

We had an electrician out to confirm the circuitry was fine and there was power to the unit.  After he did so, we had Raleigh Heating & Air out the next day.  I should say Groundhog's Day, because we went through the same thing, and yet again we had the electrician out.

Long story short, it took three trips from the electrician, three visits from Raleigh Heating & Air, $400 of electrician bills, and a $150 weekend service charge fee (despite parts and labor being under warranty from Raleigh Heating & Air) for them to finally realize that, lo and behold, it was a thermostat issue--that is, the device was not correctly installed originally.

Then they had the gall not only to refuse to pay the electrician's bill but even to reverse the charge on the $150 service call.  I want to be clear--the technicians, although they did not diagnose the issue, were very nice and tried to be helpful.  The office staff, however, were completely unhelpful and seemed not to care that they had lost a homeowner as a customer.  Would vehemently recommend using anyone BUT Raleigh Heating & Air.

We wholeheartedly endorse Raleigh HeTing and Air. We would also ask for Drew again!

We developed a kitchen sink clog on Saturday and used Yelp to find a plumber. Raleigh Heating and air responded almost immediately and had the most reasonable prices. Travis and Luis came out on Monday morning to unclog the sink. The townhouse we live in is very old and this isn't the first time we've had a clog the conventional methods couldn't handle. It is however, the first time we've had someone, not only unclog the sink, but also discover the cause and give a fair and accurate estimate for repair. Travis and Luis came out this morning to complete the job, replacing several feet of pipe in the crawl space, and even showed us a large section of pipe that was removed. That pipe was so clogged that that it's almost assured it would need to be professionally unclogged again soon or replaced. Travis and Luis were so professional, knowledgeable and courteous, performing the job well within the time and price estimate. So very pleased the the entire experience!! Would definitely recommend them fir any plumbing needs!! They will definitely be my first call for any problems I have in the future.

My relationship with Raleigh Heating & Air started years ago when my AC went out during a horrible heatwave, and I had a very sick old dog who I was very worried about.  Frantically, I started calling to see who could come help us, as he was not doing well and it was so HOT.

Everyone I called told me they could come in a few DAYS, except for Raleigh Heating & Air.  The gal I talked to HEARD me when I explained how worried I was about my dog, and said she would get me help right away. And she did.  I can't remember what they had to do, but they got us up and running and cooled off.  My precious dog passed away a couple days later of old age, but I was so grateful that he didn't have to suffer from heat those last days. (my goodness, it's still hard for me to even tell this story...sob!)

Fast forward a few years and the heating/ac unit could not be nursed along anymore.  A new one was necessary.  Of course, my first instinct was to remember who had helped out at such an emotional time.  BUT, big money was at stake, so we needed to check out options.  Called all around and narrowed it down to three companies to come out and do a quote.  Raleigh Heating & Air was (by far) the most bang for the buck, so we got our new unit from them. I'm talking about thousands of dollars difference...literally!

Now, two days ago, our AC kept tripping the breaker.  Husband called at 8:00 at night. (in the middle of another heat wave) They were here by noon the next day.  Fixed.  I can happily report that many years after the first emotional contact, I still have complete faith in this company to keep us cool/warm, be reasonably priced, and to CARE about our comfort.

We hired Raleigh Heating & Air to replace an air conditioner at one of our rental properties.  The unit they replaced it with was damaged during install, and was not installed properly.  When we called to complain the company sent someone out and inspected it and apologized, and replaced the unit with a new (better) one, hired a painter to paint a wall that was damaged and gave us a discount on the overall price with sincere apologies.  They told us they had terminated one of the employees who did the first install and the other was receiving disciplinary action.  Even though our initial experience was not positive, I was happy they were able to rectify the situation and make things right for us.

Heat went out yesterday and it was a cold night last night.   Called Raleigh Heating and Air. who installed the furnace originally, first thing this morning and talked to Diane, who was very helpful and put me on the list for this afternoon.

Kevin showed up at 3:00, found the problem quickly (broken starter) and replaced it.   Heat was back on by 4:00.  Reasonable price.  Very satisfied with the responsiveness and service.   Would recommend.

I moved into my house on the 4th of July weekend, during record heat, and my air conditioner died. I called a number of companies, but none of them could come out within 48 hours. Then I called Raleigh Heating & Air. They arrived within 24 hours on a holiday weekend, and the price for the service call was much more reasonable than other quotes I had received. I ended up using them from that point forward for our heating & air service. They continued to respond in a timely manner when our old system needed more frequent repairs and would break down at the worst possible times. When it came time to replace our units, I shopped around and they had the best proposal for replacing the units. I use their service contract for twice a year maintenance. Scheduling is easy and their employees have been friendly and helpful.

Very professional and thorough.  I really appreciate the time Dave spent to explain the suggested maintenance.  This wasn't what often times feels like a hit and run by the HVAC company where you spend $200 for 30 minutes of service.   Dave was here for quite some time and was careful to make suggestions and explain what he was doing.  I would highly recommend Dave as your technician.

I have been a customer of Raleigh Heating & Air for many years now and this is my balanced review of the company.

The positives: They are usually knowledgeable and friendly.  The technicians and the office staff are generally very nice.  Most of the time, but not always, the technicians seem honest and helpful.  I usually do the contract service, which is nice and keeps my systems working well.  I have not had problems with any repairs that they have made.

The Cons:  I have had a few technicians attempt to sell me on repairs that were not needed.  Once a technician pushed very hard on a repair for my furnace, and later turned out other technicians did not even find a problem.  My current issue with them, which may cause me to look at other companies, relates to how busy they have become.  This year when I scheduled my annual service of my AC units the soonest appointment was set for over a month away.  Upon the extreme temperatures, I noticed my units not cooling as well during the day most likely because they usually need recharged with freon.  I called to ask if I could have a technician come out sooner.  I was told that a technician could not provide the annual service to the units but could come out sooner to do any repairs.  Usually I pay for my annual contract and any additional costs for repairs at the time of the annual service.  However, if I have a technician come out earlier I will have to have 2 appointments and I will have to pay additional money for the earlier service.  I don't feel this is great customer service especially for a long time customer that is trying to be proactive to prevent more expensive repairs.

Overall, I find that Raleigh Heating & Air provides a quality service but has become so busy that it is sacrificing customer service to make more money.

Great experience! After a disappointing and offensive exchange with a different area hvac business, we contacted Raleigh Heating and Air to help with an AC issue. I Called Raleigh Heating and Air and they are an Asure dealer which is suppose to honor Amana Extended  Warranty Agreements, but when I called and they said that a diagnostic fee of $ 120 would be charged for after hours and a $96.00 diagnostic fee for normal hours. I agreed to the after hours charge, but when the technician called, he stated that he was not aware of any Extended  Warranty agreement, and I would have to pay the diagnostic fee and any other costs associated with the repair of product. Take the  Asure sign off your Website. I will be calling Amana.

These guys (Jason, Alex, Brad and DeWayne) had the thankless job of having to install a complete HVAC system and water heater on the rainiest day Raleigh has had all season in a closet sized room of a small condo in December no less.  From arriving early in the am of a chilly, rainy day, they set up an ez-up canopy to work under, laid a cover over the carpeting inside and wore shoe covers. They cleaned up completely after themselves including vacuuming the carpet.
These guys were here for over 12 hrs replacing the system (and some had a long drive home).  DeWayne was patient in showing me how to program the new thermostat.
The inspectors were impressed with their work and one commented that they knew what they were doing.
My only grouse, and this has nothing on the company, is that the new requirements for AC refrigerant required new lines to be run and, being on a slab, meant the lines had to go across the outside the back of the condo to the AC unit.  The lines were covered and sealed.
Of course, the dogs had to be involved and were given treats (sealed with the logo!) after being asked if OK to give them.
From the initial call to the finished installation, a totally professional job.  Thank you Marty, Kevin, Jason, Alex, Brad and DeWayne.

It's extremely misleading to say they offer free estimates. They don't. It's $79 for an estimate. I originally called and asked, the woman said let's get you set up for a free estimate, and halfway through the call said actually this will be a service call and never mentioned that  change being a charge. I had to clarify at the end that it was still free. It wasn't. Super misleading, borderline fraud. All I was calling about was extending my gas line from one room to the next.

I had a wonderful experience with Walter and Jeremy at this company. I live out of state and needed a technician to check the non-working AC at my Raleigh home, which is listed for sale and vacant. I needed help immediately because a showing was scheduled the next day. Jeremy immediately found me a solution. He told me Walter would be coming out that same day.

I trusted Walter to come in, diagnose and correct the problem, and lock up without ever meeting me. He did this, communicated with me by phone, gave me recommendations for a solution which best fit my pocketbook and scenario, and fixed my AC. He left no mess, he was completely independent, and the whole appointment and delivery of service was booked the same day.  The price was also very reasonable. I heartily recommend Raleigh Heating and Air to all.

I had a fantastic experience at RH&A. I worked with Cody to review the best options for my home and they came to install less than a week later. They were all polite and were in and out doing a total replacement of my HVAC in 7 hours. I couldn't be more pleased. They are also very responsive and assistive when answering any questions I had before the install and after. I highly recommend them.

I have been using Raleigh Heating & Air for years. Kept a service contract with them which includes a visit twice a year, one for a cooling system maintenance visit and one for a heating system maintenance visit.

Recently put my house on the market and after the sale, the home buyer's inspector said our heat exchanger was cracked and shut our gas off. He subsequently offered to fix it for us for $800 dollars, and that immediately raised a red flag. So we called RHA and they sent someone out immediately.

Their technician found no crack or gas leak and turned the system back on. The buyer's home inspector sent over a picture of the cracked heat exchange, which we sent to RHA. RHA sent a field supervisor back out to recheck the heat exchanger from top to bottom and found two things; 1) our heat exchanger was in perfect working order and 2) the picture sent was not of our heat exchanger.

Needless to say the buyer's inspector lost all credibility with us and RHA's finding gave us the upper hand in negotiations.

I highly recommend RHA. They are a competent, friendly, honest, and very customer service oriented company.

Only hope we can find a company like RHA in Colorado.

We purchased a new heating and cooling system a few years ago and continue to have a service plan, which includes twice-yearly inspections and filter checks and discounts on service calls. We bought our own filters, which they install for us.

The service technicians have been wonderful. Respectful of our home by wearing booties indoors. The most recent visitor, Adam, even offered treats to our dogs (but only after getting my permission!)

I highly recommend this company!

Had heavy dust coming thru ducts... guy came out , followed ducts all the way to rear of crawl space (I saw him) and said my air duct had broken apart and the repair would be labor intensive. Got second opinion; no break in air duct ! which I expected because there was still air flow from all ducts which I told him repeatedly. What the dickens?

I hired them to replace my HVAC unit.  The initial sales call went nicely and it went down hill from there.
1) The installation was done poorly.  I had to have them come back out to fix the following issues.
* They failed initial inspection.
* They forgot to turn the gas on (so did not actually test the heater unit!)
* They left cigarette butts around my house.
* There were gaps where they didn't seal it the new ductwork properly.
* Several other small issues that I will skip.  Some they fixed, others they didn't so I fixed them myself.
2) After some time we found the heater stopped working after running some times.  They sent out a technician 4 or 5 times to fix it.  They made me buy some new parts but that didn't fix it.  They finally had to get someone from the HVAC manufacturer to come out and fix it.  The only problem was that IT WAS INSTALLED INCORRECTLY!  I was NOT REFUNDED for the parts that I had to buy NOR FOR THE SERVICE CALL!  This should have been at no charge to me due to faulty installation.
3) I have a yearly service agreement.  The person is supposed to clean the coils on my outdoor unit in the spring but did not even spray it with a water hose.  I had to call the office to have the person come back and to the job that they were supposed to do.

I will not be renewing my service agreement with them and will not be using them for any services after my current agreement expires.

Bottom line: Poor installation, poor service, poor maintenance.

I recently decided to replace my 15 year old HVAC system.  I wanted a good, efficient system at the best price available, so I asked four different companies to quote their best system for my application.  All four were qualified, and had good reviews on the internet.  Each were asked to quote a good conventional system, as well as a premium system.  All four came to my home, looked at my situation, and submitted written quotes. The  RH&A rep (Cody Oliver) showed up on time, explained their recommendations, and printed out a quote before leaving.  Initially, another contractor was selected, but after lots of questions, the other contractor was rejected.  Cody was the only contractor to follow up and pursue my business.  After lots of questions and back-and-forth over a weekend, I selected RH&A to do the work.  They showed up on time and did a very good job.  The negatives are:  (a) logoed uniforms would be a plus (b) failing the permit inspection due to failure to follow installation instructions (which, by the way, I questioned the installer about after installation was complete) is an obvious negative, and (c) the installation could have been a little neater (OK, so I am a very picky customer).  But, as you can see from my rating, I am a very satisfied customer.  Even after the installation was complete, Cody was very responsive to my endless questions.  And they also have a two year labor warranty, and a two year total satisfaction warranty that gives me a lot of confidence.  So, please at least give these guys a chance at your business, but do be sure go get at least three quotes so that you know that you are getting a good deal.

Raleigh Heating & Air is my go to for my preventative maintenance and for my HVAC needs.  I knew I should've gone with their PM program when my AC went out and they were able to schedule me in quicker than the other local company that I was a regular customer of.  They have super customer service.   Their technicians are very skilled and very polite. You get a call about half an hour of your scheduled window to let you know when they are coming.  The technicians always use shoe covers and make sure that they tell you what they are doing.

I appreciate that I sign up for a years worth of PM at a time.  They will keep you updated via e-mail when your contract is up.  The best part is if you forget they keep reminding  you.  If you need HVAC service contact Raleigh Heating and Air.

We had an issue with our AC damper motors. At first we had submitted a claim with our home warranty to find that our issue was not covered. The AC repair tech that the home warranty company sent out lacked communication and could not get the issue resolved in a timely manner. We called Raleigh Heating and Air on Sunday afternoon and our issue was fixed by Tuesday afternoon. They had excellent communication during the whole process. The technician was friendly and very knowledgeable. He was able to answer all of my questions. We will definitely use Raleigh Heating and Air in the future.

When I determined that my main drainage line was blocked, I was pleased that I could submit a service request online.  I submitted it around 10pm, and I got a call the next morning around 8:15 to schedule the service.  They were able to schedule that day for a no-promise time, or the next day within a 3.5 hour window.  They called 30 minutes ahead as promised, and arrived almost exactly 30 minutes later.  Mike was very courteous and friendly.  Even though I had a pretty simple problem and solution, he still took the time to explain the mechanics of the primary and secondary lines. He also answered all of my questions about their maintenance plan, which he wondered if I was interested in.  Despite him bringing it up, he wasn't pushy about it and I didn't feel he was trying to sell me on something I didn't need.  Very pleased with my first experience with Raleigh Heating &  Air.

This was the first time I've dealt with Raleigh Heating and Air. First, the positives: They were the only HVAC company I could find on a Saturday that could come the same day for service and I called quite a few. The Tech, Ryan, was prompt and very courteous and knowledgeable. He quickly diagnosed the problem and made the necessary repairs. I felt the labor charges were very fair and in line with the amounts I've paid in the past. Why then only 2 stars? Simple. Parts. I was charged 166.00 for a part that can be purchased on Amazon for anywhere from 15.00 to 30.00.   That's a 1000% markup. I'm sorry, that's price gouging. Plain and simple.

I've had RH&A do work on two houses. This most recent work was to give a second opinion on a repair estimate given by another company sent to us by the home insurance company. I was suspicious of the first opinion, and Walter not only confirmed that but taught me how my home's system works. It is more complex than any other I have owned. Great work by great people. The office is quick to return calls and schedule appointments and the service has always been comprehensive. I completely recommend them for any work - my own experience with them runs the gamut from annual checkups to a complete furnace replacement.

So this is the first time in dare I say 5 years that I've had to call an AC tech?! My unit is 15 years old and I finally thought it bit the bullet. From start to finish this company has really impressed me with their service. I called at 9pm after hours and received a call back the next morning at 7am from a very friendly lady ready to set up my appointment. Received a courtesy call an hour before arrival and the tech Ken S called as well letting me know he was on his way. He showed up early (kudos)! (We've all had a time warner cable 4 hour window that's really an 8 hour window experience I'm sure! Ken was very professional and explained what he found with the knowledge and confidence of his trade that is all too uncommon these days. Their prices are very fair and I appreciated how well everything was explained! Didn't feel at all pressured to purchase something I wasn't ready to buy. I will recommend them to friends and use them again! Thank you!

When our AC system failed, it was too costly to repair.  At the time I was in India.  My wife did not want to replace the system until I returned.  The temperatures in Raleigh were hovering around 100 degrees.  It would be several weeks before I returned, but I wanted to get a replacement system ASAP after that for I too would be without AC :-).  I read repeatedly that the installation contractor was the hallmark of a quality system.  After extensive searching while I was in India, Raleigh Heating and Air stood out as one of the best contractors in Raleigh.  My wife scheduled an appointment with them for soon after I returned.  The company owner, Chris, and a recently hired salesperson, Chris, spent the morning with us describing our options and noting the layout of our current system.  No other vendor spent that much time with us. They asked whether we had considered a geothermal system.  We had not.  They provided information and we gathered more.  We had a few reservations:  one was the amount of damage that the drilling would do to the new lawn that I had spent two months installing in the spring.  RH&A offered to have the drilling company send the debris into large bags to minimize lawn damage.  We proceeded with a geothermal system.  The damage to the lawn was more than I had hoped but less than it would have been if the bags were not used.  RH&A loaned us a portable AC unit to use in our bedroom while waiting for the drillers and installers.  The system installers, Jason and Clifton, were outstanding.  They did quality work, were efficient, and responded well to our questions. Chris, the owner, and Brian, the Service Manager, suggested and provided several options to ensure that the system would serve us well, e.g., the new thermostat is top of the line.  Raleigh Heating and Air did a first-rate job.  Everyone on their team was a pleasure to work with.

We have used Raleigh Heating & Air for several years. We have an annual contract for maintenance on our units. Perhaps I should say had.

Scheduled for Fall maintenance over a month ago, took off work to meet the tech, received a courtesy reminder a few days in advance that said to call if I needed to reschedule. At no point was I told that they would call in advance (my appt. was at 8am) and if I didn't answer they would cancel.  I missed the call so I got another call telling me to call the office to reschedule.  When I called the office I was told that the tech was at my house and no one was there. My doorbell never rang! They rescheduled for a hour later.  When they tech arrived he said he did not come by at the scheduled time, just called. When I told him that they were going to loss a client over this he responded, take it up with the office .  Not happening...There are plenty of HVAC companies that will do what they say when they say but apparently not Raleigh Heating & Air.

I had Raleigh heating and air out today. I've used them in the past but not recently until today due to a roofing company putting a nail through the refrigerant line up in attic. Mark whom was fantastic and patient trying to diagnose where the leak was coming from and spent half the day getting it repaired and ac back to working again on one of the hottest days we've had. The girls that helped me this am when I called were very pleasant and ended up getting the tech out earlier than later. I will request Mark again when I use them for service moving forward. He was professional, loved the company and spoke highly of the people he worked for and with and that says a lot. Thanks again

The service is good however the mark ups are astronomical. I paid $176.00 dollars for a media filter for my Lenox system which lists for $106.00 on Amazon. So I would think their prices, if this is any gage, are outrageous.

Old worn wires were visible for 4 visits from RHaA on the outside of my unit. When my air-conditioning failed to turn on the technician said this probably shorted my thermostat. It was trashed. I was on their maintenance plan they had just been here. He still charged me $60 for the visit and suggested I replace the worn wire piece. When I did, and it still did not work, I called and complained about the charge for the last visit and asked them to come fix it. Despite having paid for a maintenance plan and the last visit fee of $60 they still wanted to charge me another $60 on top of what they would charge to diagnose and fix the issue. I demanded a full refund and will be finding another company.

David was a great help to us and made sure to explain everything carefully and several times so that we understood. Our air conditioning wasn't working for a few days and we were also due for a check-up. Turns out the AC wasn't working because of a switch, but once that was solved, David checked everything else out to make sure that it was working properly and in good condition. He was very honest, professional and definitely will be getting their services again. Ask for David as your technician!

Being a new customer, I was very disappointed with the service I received yesterday from Raleigh Heating and Air. The technicians didn't appear experienced and everything they did, they kept saying well this is $xxx more.  I asked for bottom line and he seemed to have a problem with that. I was charged for the service call, charged for diagnose of the problem and none of that went toward the work they said I needed.  The technician spent most of the time on the phone with his manager.  He had a new guy riding with him; but when I asked how long he had been working for them, he said 5 months.  My opinion, but I think he should have been riding with someone.  When they left I had paid $290 and they didn't fix anything at all and they even refused to look at the second system!  In addition, the technician told me about a$35 discount on the website, I printed and when I looked at the invoice, I didn't get!.

I am through with Raleigh Heating and Air....

Called another company today and will get the service charge credit to the repair and the technicians have been with company longer than 5 months.

I'm a fairly handy DIYer. So, when I call for help, I need someone able to get to the task at hand. When Joel jumped out of the truck, I was a little concerned given how young he way. Joel may be young, but he knows his stuff. He identified the issue right away and solved it. He was friendly, helpful, honest, and courteous. I very much appreciated that there was no up selling pressure applied. In fact, that's why I shy away from having repair techs come work at my house. If anyone pressures an upset, I'll never call them back again. But, I'd happily call Raleigh Heating & Air, and I'd asked for Joel again, too.

Prompt and professional. Went above and beyond. Calling this company worked out for the best because the company that sold us the heat pump in the first place were scamming customers.

The service technician diagnosed and fixed the issue immediately. Would definitely recommend  and will call them back should we have future issues.

I am a member of RH&A's Comfort Club and have been a loyal customer. They are nice guys and prompt, but be careful of their pricing. I was significantly over-charged for the last work they did for me - and I do mean last. I paid for two diagnostic visits (not sure why) and then the charge for actually fixing the problem worked out to be over $300/hr. A part needed replacing that was under warrantee, so the charge was all labor. I ask for an explanation of the high charge but my request was ignored.

Had two hvac systems installed with RH&A in two separate homes back in March 16. The process from beginning to end was top notch and the systems have been working great. I had an issue with how they installed the drain line (cary inspector made them install differently) and they made it right. Very, very pleased. Will use them for all my heating and cooling needs going forward.

I can't say enough about Raleigh Heating and Air.  They have been servicing our geothermal HVAC system since Brian installed it a few years ago. We've been very pleased with RH&A's sales, service and support. They're good people.

The customer support team, particularly Vicky and Mindy are great.  Whether it's an HVAC emergency or scheduled maintenance, they're responsive, schedule service quickly and keep you informed if anything changes. Last fall Vicky went above and beyond to follow up on parts that were delayed by a vendor. They are responsive and friendly.

The service techs are knowledgeable, well informed, communicative and very professional.  Kaleb has been our service professional since last year. He arrives on time, keeps us informed on what he's doing, answers questions and is very thorough.  Overall, excellent service.

They mislead price to get the appointment!!   The price is not the price its a fee for estimate!  So  BEWARE!   (plumbers maybe ok dunno)
Instead of this BS, I called a small biz and talked directly to the person who would be doing the job.  He will be coming out with all equip to complete the job and gave estimate for both part and labor and he will be getting all the money not the salesperson misleading.   Thankful of: There are some amazing plumbers that answer the phone:) - But not here-more hands in de pot.

Cody responded and indicated that the company's workload slows down a bit in August and they would be happy to install the new in-line bath fan and the new duct run.  An earlier installation is possible if my schedule is flexible.

At one time,  I thought highly of this company,  but my most recent experiences have been terrible.  I would not recommend them to friends,  or family.

They quoted $823 to replace an inducer motor on my HVAC system.   Without any HVAC experience,  I viewed a couple YouTube videos,  then ordered the part on-line for $320.  It took me only 45 minutes to replace the part.  And,  the vast majority of that time was taken in reading the directions and double checking my work.  It was simple.  Yet,  they sought to charge over $400 an hour for labor to replace a snap in part.  Worse,  they were going to hit me for an hour of labor at that $400,  for something that took me 45 minutes,  would likely have taken an HVAC repair person 10 to 15 minutes.  Can you imagine what they would charge if complexity was involved?  Just watch a couple YouTube videos on compressor,  drier or accumulator replacement.  That's where skill is required.  This was a very simple job,  yet they attempted to fleece me with an extraordinarily high labor rate for a simple job, absolutely egregious and unacceptable.

They also installed a Trane Heat Pump system for me in 2011.   It came with a 4 year warranty.  Had they signed me up for the extended warranty,  which was free from Trane,  that warranty would have been extended to 8 years.   They didn't sign me up,  or even alert me to the need.  Nor,  was there anything in the paperwork that alerted me.   At the 5 year point,  the coils on this system developed a leak.  The coils cost over $3,400 to replace.

Finally,  they installed a system humidifier for me.  They didn't advise or install a filter on the water-line.  The evaporating water left a hard, flaky mineral deposit behind that was thrown into the coils,  clogging up the coils,  destroying the efficiency of the system.  It was an ill-planned , ill-positioned installation that created numerous problems and wasted time and money to resolve.

Their labor rates are excessive.  They don't look after the customer's best interest on warranty issues.  And they did sloppy work for me.  So,  my 1 star recommendation should be readily understandable.  I'm only sorry it could not have been ZERO stars.
