Fixed my problem but sneaked in a $99 preferred customer charge without telling me. Parts are marked up 500%
Courteous but trying to upsell?
Technician came by to look at a leaking spigot for us and told us it will need to be replaced by cutting hole in the wall. I inspected the anti-siphon valve after he left and turned out the seal was slightly loose on the valve and just needed it to be readjusted and leak has now resolved. I was disappointed that he did not bother to inspect the spigots and recommended a replacement. Also stated how he has never seen the brand of spigots on our house, but we found the exact spigots at home Depot and lowe's.
Contacted Mr. Rooter to replace the gas line that goes to the grill. They inspected the gas line to the grill and under the house and would not just replace the gas line to the grill and stated they needed to repipe the whole house for a total of $9,000 and change.
Contacted PNG and they inspected the grill pipe and under the house. They said there were no issues with the gas pipe under the house and only the pipe that connects to the grill needs to be replaced. There estimate was $900.
We have used Mr. Rooter in the past and they have done quality work and seemed trustworthy, but after this last experience we will not use them again. Their estimate was grossly overpriced.
Rooter Rotor came out to my home in December 26, 2022 to access our leaking well line from our well pump which froze during the 18 degree weather and then thawed. Water was splashing everywhere c when we turn pump breaker back on. The Rooter Rotor team told us our pipes and tank were obsoleted and had to be upgraded and required new lines, fittings and another tank totaling 1500+ dollars. They also told us they had to drive to Greensboro to get the parts and come back the following day by noon. They returned the following day late, arriving after 130pm. After 30 minutes they completed reelected c parts. The tank was the same color and model of the old tank, the lines and fittings were the same size and changed to white plumbing pipe instead of the metal. We were instructed to turn the breaker back on. The breaker immediately flipped off. I flipped it back on. It flipped off again. I told them wiring was wrong. They stated it breaker was bad and we need a electrician. Even c though we had water running before they came. We begged them to wait on electrician. After 40 minutes the Pendegraph Electric of Durham nc arrived on emergency call. They Rotor Rooter tech spoke with electrician and stated to him they rewired pump correctly and they left. The two electricians started troubleshooting from breaker box, and found power and no issues. Then they moved under our home and to the got water heater and wiring. All lines were hot with power. They followed lines back to well pump and found no fire at pump. The rotor Rooter technicians had reversed wires causing no fire or water to flow from well. We ended up paying 500+ dollars for the hours they spent troubleshooting the mistake made by the Rotor Rooter technicians. We called Rotor rooter office after 5pm and asked for a manager to report the mistake. Additionally my credit card has been charged 1534 dollars even after my military discount was not applied nor our 50 dollar deposit subtracted. The Rotor rooter agent told us to call beck on Monday which was January 2nd 2023. Five days later. We called yesterday and none answered after 5 calls. We left the messages on a voicemail. No one has called back. Today we received a copy of the invoice and pictures of pump. We received a text message to call 5 times and no answer. We receive a email asking for electrician bill. No person call returns ever. We have disputed invoice on our credit card for further action by our bank. Be careful with Rotor Rooter because they had charged to your bill not authorized. A advantage plan for 99 dollars was added to my bill. I hence no idea what that was. I told the rotor agent Dec 27, 2022 that I did not request a plan and don't know what that is. The Rotor agent responded its is my word against Daniel the tech. Even after I requested she remove the charge she did not. What a mistake calling Alamance Rotor Rooter. They have ethical issues and are dishonest people. Be careful!!!
Just heard from Richard K the manager of M. Rooter. HIs response was they follow strict guidelines for repairs. Well they don't. Please don't use them.
I was in desperate need of a plumber as my garbage disposal was feeding into the dishwasher. I placed many calls and the only one who was available the same day was Mr. Rooter. To my surprise they arrived about 20 minutes later. Arthur and his partner did such a good job, were courteous. and very professional. I would highly recommend you using them for your plumbing needs and I would ask for Arthur. I know the next time I need plumbing service I will call the for sure.

Well, a refund would be nice.
Blocked sewer line. Called Mr. Rooter who thankfully could make it out the same day.
Changed $50, non refundable fee (first red flag), technician came early, then the fun began.
What do you know? You need a new sewer line, imagine that, never seen one this bad before. Nearly $1500 quote to install a new sewer and flush line.
Tech couldn't find said line. Rather than call the city (which I did the next day and who promptly found it). He proceeded to snake out my toilet drain, making the problem worse and dicked around for several hours.
In the end, he charged me $360 for making the issue worse, promised to send me a quote the next day (he didn't) and then left us to urinate outside.
Called a local tech, who promptly diagnosed the issue and charged me $360 and, get this, actually fixed the problem! Wow.. amazing.
If you are thinking of using Mr. Rooter's services, I invite you to read their Indeed reviews. Apparently, they pay a commission to their techs, and we all know what that means when it comes to quotes.
Go with a local artisan, with real ties to your community, forget Mr. Rooter.
Never, ever again.
These people are scam artist they are not about fixing your problem they have happy not to serving you My people you know what that red is all about all they want is that $50. Check out your problem and fool you in a lifetime Warranty etc. etc. etc.
Don't waste your time. They only want the big jobs so that they can over charge you. If you are gullible enough to go with them please don't buy the Advantage Plan. It is not worth the paper it is written on. Preferential pricing and scheduling my ass. More like never call you back.
Called for a plumber to tell me why I had low pressure from my hot water heater. They sent out a guy who did absolutely nothing except explain things he knew nothing about. Told me he would start with the house pressure valve? Than told me the hot water heater probably pushed debris into my walls. Told him I needed to know and should I get the hot water heater replaced. He told me they could change it and there were no guarantees it would fix it. Charged me $50 for probabilities and $3100 to change the water heater.Another company came out and figured it out in no time (a plugged one way check valve. Works great!
Great experience! Needed toilet repaired at my place of business, Mr. Rooter was able to send Christian over same day! Arrived on time, professional appearance, quickly resolved issues, great value!
My pooper was clogged, and a man named Dwane came out, and helped me solve the problem with no issues! Such a great company. :,)
Arthur Lovings did an excellent job of assessing my water problem and was very courteous and professional. He also checked my 3 toilets to be sure they were working properly.
If you are considering Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Alamance County please first, consider my experience:
A $476.50 estimate for a repair that ultimately cost less than $8.00.
My outdoor hose bib was leaking from a small cap. I put in a call to Mr. Rooter, spoke to a very nice customer service person who seemed glad to help. The agent explained there was a $50.00 non-refundable trip charge which I paid with the understanding that I would receive a professional analysis of any repair required and it would go toward the ultimate repairs. An appointment was made and on the morning of the appointment the tech arrived in a timely manner. We spoke briefly and he confirmed the issue (he never turned on the water to see the leak) and immediately began talking about removing interior drywall to access supply pipe. I absolutely did not intend to remove interior wall. The estimate did not include repair and repaint of the interior which would have left me with a gaping hole and exposed plumbing in my study to be repaired by others at additional expense. Ultimately, I learned that my problem was not only exceptionally common in my area, but, exceptionally easy to fix. I was advised to buy a vacuum breaker repair kit (a device with which I was unacquainted, neither needed nor present on outdoor plumbing where I previously lived) for approximately $7.72. It took about 5minutes to install and, no more leak. Surely, a professional should have been able to do this simple repair without removing drywall and the kind of workmen with whom I desire to do business would certainly have drawn attention to or offered the simple solution. Does my experience speak to the expertise and/or the ethics of Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Alamance County? You decide.
I am absolutely appalled at the treatment I received while dealing with the Burlington branch of Mr. Rooter. At first, they are the most polite folks you'll meet, both on the phone and in person. They will explain everything they're doing and walk you through the process and cost step-by-step. Sure, the prices are a little higher than their competitors', but you'll feel comfortable with their extended warranties and kind demeanor. When the first procedure doesn't entirely fix the problem, they'll come back out, at no cost, and give it another look. That's when they'll realize that your issue may be something bigger, and you'll get a new estimate. After six months of on-again off-again drainage from every water source in my house and over $1,000 of worthless repair costs, I finally began to grow suspicious when I was told that we would need to replace all of the pipes under our house and received a $3,500 estimate. We called in two other companies for second and third opinions. Both said that we were having the same problem, one that Mr. Rooter never mentioned, and both estimated it would cost $200-300 to fix. We went with one of the other companies, and the fix ended up costing us just over the $200.
Mr. Rooter is, in no uncertain terms, running a scam on its clients. Such a bold scam wouldn't work if they didn't present themselves so pleasantly and professionally. I feel tricked and taken advantage of, so I wanted to be sure that others were warned and could hopefully avoid my mistakes!
I contacted Mr. Rooter Plumbing about installing a new toilet and hooking up a kitchen faucet. They told me it wouldn't be a problem and that they would send someone out to do it, but I'd have to pay $50 up front which would go toward the installation. However, when the two plumbers arrived, they had no intention of doing any work at all. Instead they talked about surfing and then quoted me an outrageous price of close to $850 to do the job. The next day, I was able to find an honest local plumber to do the entire job for $275! The people at Mr. Rooter had no explanation of why their quote was so incredibly high and wouldn't return my calls. They were firm on not refunding my $50, which is why I want to warn people of this corrupt company. They tried to rip my family off for $500, but had to settle for $50. Total garbage.
This was my 1st time using Mr. Rooter. I was charged $50 to get advice I basically already knew. I replaced my water heater in November 2022, I had rust one thing I did not know. Could they fix that guess not. that would have been nice. They gave me quotes starting at $3100. My son and I still do not have hot water. I am a single mother with limited funds. I would not recommend if you are on a budget but I would recommend if you have the money to pay them. Do not know when I will have hot water. Thanks
