I can't understand all of the bad reviews. I was struggling with a clogged bathroom sink. I called Roto Rooter and set up an appointment. A plumber showed up about an hour afterward. The job was done within 15 minutes and he was in and out. The price was what I was told I would be paying. No attempt to upcharge me for anything or find anything wrong. Service was outstanding plumber was very polite.

Adam and Bobby out of the Somerset, NJ  office came to my home this morning for a major restoration job due to a backed up sewer and I must say they were the ultimate professionals. The job they had to undertake was a major one, but they tacked it with professionalism.  Adam explained the process and was more than willing to answer all of my many questions.

Therefore, I can only give an excellent review to the aforementioned gentleman because they made a difficult experience a lot more bearable.

I'm located in Woodbridge,NJ and had Rotor Rooter help me reset an existing toilet. Lee, the plumber who made the service call, was extremely friendly, helpful, and walked me through the process in case I ever try to do this myself.  I had made a few attempts on my own prior to calling them.  I was extremely happy that this was taken care of in a timely fashion and called again a few days later to help me attach my tank to the bowl, I couldn't handle that either!  I would definitely be requesting Lee when the need comes up and would strongly encourage anyone I know to go with them.  I was skeptical at first but had a great experience after all was said and done.

I was so upset to find that I had sewage backing up through my basement floor. My new washing machine was sitting in waste.  I called Roto-Rooter and they were at my house sooner than expected. After much hard work and patience the handy man they sent out (Foster) had unclogged my main line.  I have had no problems since.

Had a clog in the wall behind bathroom sink-requested service and a technician was there within a couple hours.  Obviously the cost is a bit more with a name brand but overall service was efficient and friendly.  Drain was working again in about an hour of work.  Would use again!

I had Manny and Pedro (Tech 525) from RotoRooter come out to my house because I was smelling a terrible, HORRIBLE smell from my kitchen area. I had other companies come out to investigate and no one could figure out where it was coming from. Manny was able to quickly determine where the smell originated from (the main sewer line just below the kitchen area) and snaked out the clog. I am so thankful that they were able to not only determine the source but also solve the problem. I have two young children and was very concerned for their health. They were polite, efficient and I would absolutely have them back again (If they would even come back after that nastiness).  Could not be more pleased! Thanks guys!

Was referred by a friend but if I would have read the reviews first I would have never called !!! My gfs toilet was clogged bad so we called roto rooter, they gave me a 4 hour window (3pm-7pm) which didn't seem bad plus I've never done this before so, I made myself available for that block of time . Around 5:30 they call me to tell me everyone is busy but they will be here which was reassuring as 7pm hadn't come yet . 7pm comes around and I call to see Whatsup and they say it will be another 2-4 hours !!! This brings the block of time from 3pm-11pm now ! Wow ! Around 10pm they call to cancel and say they just won't be able to make it . I thought this was 24/7 service ?!?! I'm glad they didn't come though after reading these reviews and the outrageous prices they charge people. Would never consider them ever again , ever !

Our toilet hasn't been flushing quickly and kept hearing water backing up from the sink and shower. Before things got any worse, my husband decided to call Roto-Rooter to at least come and look at our pipes. We had an idea that water wasnt getting to the main pipe. Customer service said they would have a technician come out within the hour. Right on time, Edwin (the tech) came. He worked on our pipes for at least 4-5 hours and explained everything he was doing and why it was happening. He was very professional and knowledgeable. Edwin also cleaned up where he was working so he didn't leave our basement smelling like sewer. He also gave us some cleaning solution to clean the pipes and shield it. Edwin really made this a great experience.

In Kearny I had a serious problem with the sewer line which was flooding my basement very quickly. As a panicked new home owner, I called the first plumber that appeared online. Within 20 minutes recuse came. The job must have taken him about 2 hours and a half. A very knowledgeable man, his work and generosity I can't complain about but the pricing was a bit too high. If its not truly an emergency its not worth calling. I'm sure one can get a better deal with a local plumber. I was glad to use a coupon I found online.

This past Fathers Day, Sunday June 21 had roto-rooter come to my home as I noticed water coming up from basement toilet, YUK!!! The guys who came were Manny Luis and Cruz who was the trainee. They were the kind of plumbers that everyone would love to have!!!! They were polite, patient and inspected everything. Once they found the problem, they took the time to explain to me and my wife the issue. We had a pipe in our house that broke and needed repairs which was causing the flooding in basement. They quickly escalated the situation and had someone come the very next morning for repairs and also restoration for the basement. These guys were very Knowledgeable especially Manny Luis and can tell he's experience. You pay for Good Service which I like. Currently right now the pipe has been repaired but waiting on a call back so that my city inspector can inspect. That's where I'm currently at right now. I thank Manny Luis and his trainee Cruz for helping me and my family find the problem and address right away. They should be acknowledged, thanks again!!!!! Will be calling them and using you guys going forward for any future plumbing problems. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!

An overflowing toilet and clogged sewer line on Mother's Day morning threatened to make it a horrible day.  But Roto-Rooter saved the day.  Said they could be get to us in an hour -- and did.  Technician Chris was friendly, courteous, and handled a messy and miserable job with grace and good cheer.  Old plumbing caused complications that he took in stride.  He cleared the clog, and cleaned up the mess in our basement toilet. Price was what he quoted before starting the job -- and worth every penny.  Hope not to need them again -- but if I did -- wouldn't hesitate to bring them back.  Tony H.

John Gardner, the great Secretary of HEW who created both Head Start and Medicare, once said, A society that exalts philosophers and disrespects plumbers will soon find out that neither its theories nor its pipes hold water.  Well, three guys from Roto Rooter (Fred/423; Carlos/429; and Stewart/3347) just showed us how gifted plumbers can be, when they went eight feet deep into the ground next to our foundation, the backhoe threading a needle between a gas pipe and a water pipe only inches wider than the bucket, to replace a faulty section of sewer line.  From the moment they arrived on the scene, these three displayed a winning combination of competence, commitment, and courtesy that should be a model for all companies who serve customers.  What is more, we were impressed with the technology they used both in solving our problem but also in following the extraordinary safety measures the home office monitored and managed via their smart phones.  A total winner from start to finish!

If I can give give this company zero stars I would! I was recommended to use them to clear my drain pipes for my salon.. I scheduled my service online for 12 noon. They sent me a confirmation that they would be there between 12 and 2pm. They called to let me know at 1 that the service provider was on the way. 1 hour later I called them because he had still not arrived. Their response was we don't have anyone in the area to send to you your service provider will be there as soon as possible. At 5 pm I called again because he yet still did not arrive, they apologized and offered me a 20% discount for the service. The service provider finally arrived at 6pm. I had 2 sinks that needed to be snaked.. They gave me an estimate of $550 plus tax with a sly smirk and laughed at me!! I have never paid more then $200 for this service. I asked him to please wait I was calling the supervisor to speak about this price. The provider went outside and when I looked I realized he left!!! There was, at this point, no way to redeem themselves! Even if they would have given me the service for free it still wouldn't reconcile for the lack of professionalism this company has..  I own a business that requires sinks to function.. The amount of money lost due to their piss poor service is unbelievable. DO NOT USE THEM! THEY ARE NOT ONLY A RIP OFF BUT RUDE TO THEIR CUSTOMERS! I AM UNSURE HOW THIS COMPANY IS EVEN STILL OPERATING! Maybe from the one or two people that don't know any better and actually pay their insane prices!

I want to provide accolades of praise for the service that your technician Dan #2491 and Nir provided yesterday.

They arrived about 40 minutes after I called.

Dan was knowledgeable, personable and very quick.

Within minutes the problem was resolved.

In today's world, companies are all too often sluggish. Typically, a call center with a lengthy menu will leave you frustrated. Typically, it takes a great deal of time for someone to respond let alone be at your doorstep. Typically, the service provider may not resolve the problem.

Your call center response was immediate. The arrival of the technician was almost immediate. Dan, especially, was absolutely great.

Thank you for your service.

Sincerely,

Marion Sommer

I just has John, from the Jersey City Roto-Rooter office come to my house in Cranford, NJ, to fix a clog in my backyard drainage system. He was very professional and was able to finish the job in under one hour.
When I called to set up the appointment I asked for a morning appointment. I was told to expect him between 9:00-11:00. I got a call this morning, to check to see if 9:00 was still a good time. He arrived right around  9:00 and was done by 10:00.

I am very pleased with the service of this company and highly recommend them.

Rip off. Caused more harm than good. The POD rental ended up disastrous for me. All my things got damaged outside worse than in my basement because they failed to pick up the pod when they said they would.   I painstakingly took everything out of the pod to put in a shed I couldn't get built in time as they gave me a really hard time to extend the pod rental a few days. It started to rain on all my items. It was too late to put everything back in the Pod because they were supposedly taking it away but failed to come get it for many days. VERY UPSET they got more money than I did in my insurance claim to clean up water damage.  Hire another team to help with your flood. These people Rip you off.

We have an outside drain that backs up when it rains. The water eventually seeps into our dinning room. Roto Rooter came today and attempted to snake the drain. He was able to clear out some tree roots but did not clear out the enter pipe. He said a tree crushed the pipe so that the water moves through slowly. He charged $245.00 even though he did not fix the issue. I thought they didn't charge if they don't complete the job? He really should have charged half of the amount.

I had a potential disaster, and Roto-Rooter came to the rescue. I woke up on Saturday morning with a flooded basement, which threatened to derail a whole day I'd planned for some out-of-town visitors. Our plumber said he might be able to get to us in 4 or 5 hours, but suggested we call Roto-Rooter instead.

Roto-Rooter showed up at our place in Maplewood, NJ within an hour. They called the house to let us know when they were on their way. The plumber was friendly and conscientious -- he put down drop cloths to protect a wide area around the drain he was working on, he did thorough clean up.  He explained what went wrong, how we could help prevent it in the future and left me his number in case we had other problems. This all took maybe 45 minutes, which left me plenty of time to salvage our plans for the day.

As someone else mentioned here, it wasn't cheap, but in my experience, plumbers seldom are.  And considering the great service I got, I felt it was very fair.  Oh yeah, and he accepted credit cards.

We had a roto rooter service representative come to our house last weekend.  I called roto rooter for the Trenton, NJ area.  Our service technician, Joe, was excellent.  . He  was at our house exactly when he said he would be.  He was very professional and knowledgeable.  Joe was able to diagnose our problem in a very timely manner and give us an estimate right on the spot.  We now know what we will need to do to resolve our plumbing problem.   We were given an estimate with exact price so there will be no surprises.  Thank you Joe and the entire roto rooter team!!!

I called on a Tuesday to see if I can get a plumber to come on Friday and give me an estimate on installing a dishwasher. I was give a window of 8am to 12 pm. At 930 I get a call telling me all techs are busy and they will be a bit delayed and will come a bit after 12. Then around 1130 I get another call saying they won't make it until 1pm. At 130 still no plumber and I wasted a whole day of work. I call and speak to a supervisor  and tells me it's gonna be another hour and a half! They have no value for people's time are are not willing to provide the service they offer. Why would they give a 4 hour window and still not be able to send a plumber just for an estimate! Never again! Time is money! I rather pay more and get the service I was promised!

We had our tub drain clogged on a Saturday afternoon and we had called roto-rooter to see if someone can come.  Since my husband and I were running out in the afternoon that day we couldn't be home for them to come so they said they will come first thing Sunday morning at our home in West Orange, and they sure did.  John fixed the issue rather quickly and was super nice and thorough in his explanations of the issue that occurred.  Happy it was that easy and appreciate John's assistance.

At the heart of a service profession, there has to be, well, heart.  Recently a cleaning service damaged my shower head.  In the terms of our agreement for repair, we were to use Roto-rooter.  As this was not our normal plumbing service, we were a little hesitant, but agreed.  Within a short period of time, Victor, employee 1301, was at my home assessing the damage.  Courteous, as he made sure his booties were on and things were clean.  Upon determining that the problem could not be fixed given the nature of my shower unit, he informed me that he would have to research suitable replacements.  When asked how long (and assuming that he would say days), he said in a few hours.  He researched and got back to me within a few hours.  Upon working out the financials with the cleaning service, I informed Victor that I would like to go ahead with a certain unit.  He informed me that it would be available shortly.  I booked the appointment for Saturday morning.  To my surprise and pleasure, he was on time again and with a supervisor, Peter, employee 2031.  With initial estimates of 4-6 hours for the job, I was very pleased in that the job was finished within 1.5 hours.  Both Victor and Peter worked efficiently, professionally, and quickly.  Each step of the way was explained to me, including the replacement/repair process and how to use the new unit.  The two made sure things were cleaned up and  that everything was to my satisfaction.  I was very pleased with the service I received as well as the professionalism of both of these employees.  I wish it always worked like this!  I write this with the chance to win...but also to show the heart and caring of these two employees.

Cruz (tech #334) came out and was courteous from arrival to departure. He solved the problem, a nice clog due to hair (thanks to wife) and provided solutions immediately. We went with the option to clean the drain. It's been a month now and drain is clear and flowing immaculately. Thanks again to Cruz and RR.

I had a leaky pipe under the basement sink. Water was everywhere. I called Roto-Rooter and requested Manny (Tech 525). Not only did he fix the leak, he took preventative measures to make sure the sink didn't leak in other places. He was very thorough with his work. Manny was straightforward with the upfront costs, and true to his word, that's what it cost. I would definitely call him again.

The worst. We had a clogged sewer line so I called what I expected to be a reputable business - Roto-Rooter, but nothing could have been further than the truth.

Called Friday (3/17/23) and they sent someone out immediately. Guy comes in and after doing zero investigative work of any pipes says we are going to need the jet guy to come out. Turns out this guy had limited experience, was not a tech, and had no authority to make that decision - more to come here.

Jet guy shows up by himself at 8pm and works his butt off trying to fix the problem. This guy I have no issue with because he had zero support, and clearly limited experience with no formal training.

$1,800 (yes, you read this right) charge. Next day same problem, so nothing was fixed and I'm out $1,800, so I called again.

Saturday (3/18) morning jet guy shows up first thing and tries to remedy the situation. Then what seems to be a closer called camera guy shows up around 10a and runs the camera through the line.

Camera guy immediate disclaimer: I'm in the excavation end of the business so I don't know (or clearly take any responsibility for) what has happened here. Remember: same company.

Really zero issue with the line except for a root about 16' out that seems to be blocking the line. Camera runs over 100' with very little issue with the exception of this 'root'. Now comes the up-sell.

Well, there is clearly a root issue in your line and I think you need to have the chain service to clear the line. Our iron line is 30' until you hit clay - the clay was completely clear and, but for the root and some accumulated sludge in the iron pipe, the line was clear.

That will be $100 per foot or $3,000 to clear just the iron line, says the camera guy.

WTF? You charged me $1,800 for nothing at this point and now you distance your business (excavation) from the other (jet guy) even though you are the same company? Nice. Quality service. But it gets better...

But what I recommend is to excavate the pipe because it's clearly at issue or put in an outside trap...that will run you anywhere between $12k and 15K. say the camera guy.

Ok, I'm done with these guys. I get the bid for the line (chain) clear, get a copy of the video, and schedule service for Monday (3/20). I immediately reach out to friends and family for professional recommendations and ultimately cancel Roto-Rooter.

Professional recommendation comes in and snakes the line (this is important because IT WAS NEVER DONE BEFORE BY ROTO-ROOTER). Issue at about 16' was confirmed. New group runs a camera and determines that the issue is not a root but rather a the head of a toilet brush stuck in the line blocking solids. This all takes about 30 mins.

So let's recap:

* Roto-Rooter sends un-qualified and un-prepared employee out to determine job characteristics that doesn't do any actual work - NOT EVEN TO SNAKE THE LINE - and calls jet guy

* Jet guy works hard to no avail

* Camera guy screws jet guy by saying different departments and tries to say all is well - trust us - the company will do right by you

* Camera guy gives me crazy $$ bid for work that doesn't need to be done and talks to management to get to the bottom of this and says someone will be reaching out to discuss. TO BE CLEAR: I waited 24 hours to Sunday (3/19) afternoon to see if anyone from Roto-Rooter would call...crickets...and as I'm writing this on Monday (3/20) night, still nothing.

* Camera guy admits that the person sent out was a recovery guy (clean-up only), was not a tech, and had no business making any determination on the problem.

* Further, camera guy's information shows that a tech did show up. I can tell you that this is complete BS and CYA at it's best because nobody else showed up and they know they f-ed up.

New group fixed the issue immediately and we are back in business. But for the hard work of the jet guy I would have given Roto-Rooter no stars. Avoid at all costs.

I called them to come and they came but did not resolve my issue and still took $450. They didn't even go down to check the main sewer. I payed the $450, again the water continued  to leak so I called again and they came and wanted to charge another $450 and I refused to. He then called his manager and he told me the best he could do was $250 after I refused again he left and did not resolve anything. Very bad experience not happy at all. I don't recommend them. Not a professional company.

We got the referral to Technician #552 through a friend's Facebook post. We were looking for someone to snake our sewer line so it was fortuitous. As per our friend's glowing review, he arrived promptly and spent time clearing the lines. Harun was polite, informative and cleaned up after he was finished. He also gave us good advice on maintaining our drains. I've already recommended him to someone else and happily give him five stars!

Well I had a tub full of yuck and water was backing up into my basement today so I called Roto Rooter! 30 minutes later, Juan arrives and gets right to work, he was not only very friendly, but very knowledgeable and fix the complex problem in about an hour. He also gave me some pointers how to avoid my pipes getting clogged again in the future, and even helped a bit with clean up. I highly recommend Roto Rooter, I'm one happy customer with free flowing pipes!

Issue: Toilet leaking water from the base (floor), blocked, and bad odors coming from it.
First Appointment-1st technician: He did not solve the issue. The technician removed the toilet and installed it again. The toilet still leaking and blocked. In addition, the technician left the toilet loose not installing it appropriately.
Second Appointment-2nd technician: I called the next day. The second technician removed the toilet, re-installed it but toilet still blocked and bad odors coming from it. Leak solved... at least one less issue...
Third Appointment-3rd technician: I called a couple of days after the previous technician did his job as toilet was blocked and smelly. Please note no one has been able to use this toilet at all. Technicians were not able to fix all the issues at once. The third one was so rude that when he removed the tank cover it felt on the toilet breaking the cover and the actual toilet. I had to order a new toilet and re-schedule the technician for a week after to install the new toilet.
Fourth Appointment-3rd technician: The technician showed up with a man that is not a Roto-Rooter employee. That man was standing next to the technician doing nothing in my private home without any authorization. This is completely unacceptable! I am hiring the services of Roto-Rooter and they are liable of their employees and any non-authorized person the technician brings to a job. Finally new toilet was installed! Once installed the toilet was doing a strange not usual bubbling sound when flushed. I brought it to his attention and he assured me it will eventually stop doing that noise. The toilet seemed that it was not flushing properly... not entirely blocked but water did not go down easily. Keep in mind this toilet is a guest toilet. Family members rarely use it.
I went on vacations and when I came back I found out the toilet blocked again and strong bad odor coming from it specially when flushed. I called the company a Saturday and scheduled the same 3rd technician that did the last job to come on Monday from 8 am to 12 pm because he knew what he did and I did not wanted a new technician to start guessing on what could be the issue.
Monday: Supposed to received the technician from 8 am to 12 pm. At 11:40 am I received a call from them letting me know the technician (anyone and not the one I requested) will not be able to go and that they will be calling me back in a few minutes. My husband called them twice and they could not tell when the technician will show up. At 5:45 pm I noticed I had a missed call from them. I called them back and spoke to Amber.
Conversation with Amber: I explained to Amber all the above. I requested her to make an appointment after 6:00 pm any weekday with that particular technician; the 3rd one. Or the following Saturday/Sunday at any time. Amber responded that she was not able to schedule an appointment with that technician because she did not have the schedule. I asked her to please note in the system that I was requesting that particular technician on the dates/times previously mentioned and once the schedule were up to send me a confirmation. Nothing complicated, right? At the end I am still with the same issue and I need Roto-Rooter to solve it. She told me I needed to call again in a few days as she is not able to make any notes in the system. Her response was unacceptable because they have not adequately complied with the service... not solving the issue, missing an appointment, and not scheduling the technician I requested. I explained her that the least I expect was that they make up for all the mistakes by simply solving internally to schedule the technician and that I did not have to call them again. Amber got upset and with very poor manners and extremely rude told me she cannot do anything and hooked up the phone to me. It is evident that Roto-Rooter not only do not have competent technicians they also do not have competent customer service representatives.
I immediately called back and requested to talk to a manager. His name David. I complained about Amber's behavior and the poor services I have received from them. No apologies from his part. He seemed like nothing was important. He said he could not schedule the technician because the local branch has not put in the system the schedule. So to me at this point the whole situation is completely silly. They are a company and they have a unsatisfied client because of their evident poor service and not because I am playing difficult. But I have been extremely tolerant and patient with them. Basically, David could not take care of the situation. I had to directly request him to please contact the branch and make all the scheduling for me. After repeating to him for several times he finally agreed to send an email to the branch and get back to me in 10 minutes... I have been waiting for 3 days and not a single response from them. The whole situation is a joke.

I called up Roto Rooter and they sent a guy same day, which was great.  The guy changed appointment to be 3 hours ealier. No big deal. When he arrived in Hoboken he said he went around the whole block and couldn't find non-residential parking.  No kidding, welcome to Hoboken.  He refused to try looking for parking one block over and the dispatcher bristled at my suggestion that he do. My wife went downstairs and the guy was a real charmer, made it clear he wasn't really anxious to solve OUR problem.

Stay away. I made an appointment to have a technician come over this evening. He showed up almost two hours late, then said he needed to reschedule because he couldn't find parking after trying for 10 minutes. And it's raining. And he's tired.

Yeah, I get it. Parking in the city is hard. And it sucks to drive in the rain. Especially when you're tired. But you guys advertise yourselves as being available 24/7 to take on any job. Even in the Big City.

So what happens, we reschedule for tomorrow, and after 10 minutes of not being able to find parking you throw in the towel and say you want to reschedule again?

Thanks, I'll find someone else. There are always other options.

Please remember that, dear reader, before calling Roto-Rooter.

Service was very good. The tech spent over three hours to clear the drain and seemed to know what he was doing. But the price seemed high...$380 (with $40 coupon) plus tax. But I think they all charge that much.

Called Roto-Rooter to come out and snake our drain, last time we called them was 9 years ago and they treated us like it was last week!   They wanted to come sooner than I could meet and when they were running a tad late, called to inform me.  Michael (#773) from branch Middlesex, was courteous and professional.  He explained exactly what would happen and worked quickly and very cleanly; extremely important when you are snaking a drain!!  I would highly recommend them and will definitely ask for Michael again. #17739129.

After finding a ton of water and some gross muck in our basement we called Roto Rooter to help us with our main line. Usually when a company tells you reps will show up between 12 and 4, they knock on your door around 5, but Manny -525 and Pedro was at our house by 12:30 ready to work. They were both extremely friendly and courteous, and helped us resolve our clogged mainline and a secondary clog (that we didn't even know about) within an hour or two. They were professional and friendly, and I would not hesitate to recommend them to any of my family and friends that need plumbing services!

Astronomical prices. I paid 280 to change a 35 dollar part in my toilet that took him literally 10 minutes. I felt like I had been violated and robbed. Find someone else unless you have an absolute emergency. This applies to all rotorooters. They have set prices for certain tasks. Don't blame the plumber. Roto probably just doubles the price for commission.

Had the boys come out for a standard snake job on my main drain in Maplewood. Juan (tech 383)was prompt and did a fine job clearing the drain. He suggested I have a video sewer inspection because he felt there may have been an obstruction or potential separation in the line causing the initial issue. Had the video service with a few hrs of the drain clearing. Mike (tech 773) was equally as committed & professional as Juan. Good news - no obstruction, just old pipes. Other than that, all clear. Boys did a great job & would hire again.

Horrible service, it is clear they don't know what they are doing and they only want more money and they will go for he most expensive thing. They charged us $400 for a service they couldn't fix (how is that possible????) and another person came and could fix it for way less than that. How can you charge me for a service you didn't do?? It's better that you go out of business and make a favor to a lot of homeowners so they don't waste their money with you

Just had a service man come it because I had a problem with my water not draining properly in the tub. From the moment I spoke with him on the phone when he first got here he was incredibly rude. He went into the wrong building at his own error, even though we gave him the correct address. He then comes in takes a look for literally 20 seconds, says it will cost $569.00 for the arbitrary repair , which he did not specify the details of. I asked for an estimate form to submit to my landlord as this decision for repairs is his. He huffs and puffs, says I gotta make a call leaves then call me 5 min later, says his office will email me an estimate and leave. He was incredibly rude, not helpful, and he should NOT be interacting with clients. This was the worst home repair experience I have ever had and thats saying a lot in Jersey City. Unreal. Do yourself a favor and go with any other company

Washing Machine drained and the toilet backed up.  Im pretty handy so I tried to resolve the issue myself with a 25' snake but was unsuccessful.  I called Roto rooter and within 2 hours they were on site.  Gary and Will were extremely professional, clean, and courteous.  They went to the extent of wearing shoe covers upon entrance to my house and even cleaned up their work space when they were finished with the job. They used every bit of a 75' snake to unclog my drain line and it took them about 2 hours.  The only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is the price - $450 + tax.  OOOOOF!  I did find a $40 coupon online but the price was still steep in my opinion.  However, I am very happy that my drain is clear and the 6 month guarantee on their work is comforting (if the same line gets clogged again within 6 months they will fix for free). Thanks Roto Rooter.  Yes - I would recommend them to friends & family.

One of the great things about roto rooter is they have super fast service.  I scheduled an appointment with them on Saturday and then came the next day.  The guy that came was nice but their prices are outrageous.  I needed to get my kitchen faucet replaced as it was leaking.  I have a basic standard faucet, nothing fancy.  The guy quoted me a price of $365.00 to replace the faucet.  The was the price of the labor only!   I had already purchased the faucet from Lowes.  I was like this seems a bit outrageous.  He pretty much said that is the price and blah blah.  Nice guy but I was like no way am I going to pay that.  I called another place after he left.  He quoted me a price over the phone for $75.  He came the next day.  It took him 30 -40 minutes to replace and it was indeed only $75.  I guess Roto Rooter is great for emergencies as they can come out quick but their prices are pretty ridiculous. So they basically wanted $365 for a half an hour job.  Never again!

I have just had Roto-Rooter out to resolve a major sewer issue at my home.  I had an overflow into my finished basement, which caused significant damage. I discovered it on a Sunday evening, and called Roto Rooter right away.
My service call time was 11 pm-1 am, and the first tech Kevin showed up in the time frame given.  He was friendly, cheerful and informative.  He tried many things, but was unable to find a resolution that night, so he made arrangements for someone to be at my home first thing in the morning. It was determined that most of my indoor pipes needed replacement.
The restoration team was great (Fred, tech #423, was great! The work was extensive, and there were 3 separate major jobs that needed to be completed, so it was extremely upsetting, but the team that did the work made it seem more manageable.  Carlos (tech #429), Fred (tech # 423) and Nick (tech #1619), all were pleasant, informative, and helpful.  They were efficient, and took great care to make sure that they protected my home as well as was possible, and they did precise, neat work.  I would much rather that this work was not in MY basement, obviously, but they each minimized the damage. I was very impressed with all of their work.
The each showed a lot of consideration, and they each explained everything in detail.  None of them seemed to mind when I periodically came in to look at their work, and were happy to explain exactly what they were doing.
I would highly recommend this team at Roto Rooter-they are a credit to your business!

So my story gets better. After they tell me not to worry about anything that they're going to handle the insurance company  that I don't have to deal with the insurance company at all, they will to have to pay for everything.. the bottom line is that's  not true. RR never gives you a price before they do the job not  even a ballpark figure. Then they hit you with a $16,000 bill which is totally ridiculous I'm in the wrong business. They steal  from my house they break my door. I already gave them $10,000 that my insurance company paid for,  and  now they're sending me Threatening letters for the other $6,000 that they gonna put a lien on my house the nerve of them.  They   rob jewelry from my house they broke my door and they're sending  Me threatening letters. I just don't understand people and how they run a businesses  it's horrible you can't trust anybody they make you sign a piece of paper which they totally took advantage of I wasn't home at the time of the flood I was away and my daughter was here he told me over the phone that he was going to take care of everything and then he made my daughter sign a piece of paper stating that they're not responsible for anything and with the bill comes out more than the insurance company we have to pay for it I would've never signed that.     Please people be aware when you have a flood ...you get very overwhelmed and people take a vantage just go to the next guy they'll take the insurance money. And please make sure your home watching people  and don't sign anything.  they took advantage of my neighbors also ,90 years old they had to pay out-of-pocket for everything $20,000

I ordered a technician to arrive at my tenants apartment on a Saturday between 8am-12pm. The technicians did not arrive until 3pm. The technician who performed most of the work, who acknowledged he was in training, continued to try and turn off the water in the apartment without knowing which levers did what. All the while, he walked around the apartment with a cigar hanging out of his mouth. After he ran to Home Depot to pick up the $30 piece to fix the leaking faucet in the shower, he arrived back at the apartment an hour later and walked into the bathroom (closed the door - not professional) and fixed the leaking faucet. When he went back to the levers to turn the water back on, all hell broke loose. The water tank starting leaking excessively. Enter the technician who was supposed to be overseeing the 'technician in training'. He was sitting in the Roto Rooter truck the entire time. He apprised us that it was sediment that was causing the leakage and that they needed to snake a wire through to get the sediment out (ended up not being the case). He then told us that it was a faulty valve that would need to replaced (but not to worry - he would give us 25% off the replacement). This was also not the problem. After I called our Property Management, an individual familiar with the water tank arrived and said that the levers were not in their proper positions. All that had to be done was switch the levers to their proper positions - case solved.

In short, I was charged $492.79 to have a technician in training arrive three hours late with a cigar in his mouth cause havoc by not knowing what he was doing and charging $82.28 for a $30 piece from Home Depot. What should have been an hour job turned into waiting from 8am until 6pm when they finally left the apartment.

Stay away if possible.

Was going to use Roto-Rooter again for clogged bathtub my tenants were experiencing. However, saw that AJ Perri offered $99/drain plus 10% discount if scheduled on-line. Went with AJ Perri instead and paid less than $100 for the same job that cost me $400 about a year and a half ago with Roto-Rooter. Roto-Rooter technicians have always been pleasant and punctual and have always gotten the job done, but their prices, I've realized and been told by others, are extremely high. You can't go wrong with Roto-Rooter other than paying a lot more! The two-star rating is for the price difference.

The Technician ( Joe-1950) arrived on time and cleared a difficult sewer clog that I had already paid another local plumber to clear, but which was flooding my basement again 3 weeks later. He not only cleared the initial blockage,  but made suere that the it was completely cleared, which the other plumber had failed to do. And he explained to me in clear terms what was causing the blockage and how to prevent it going forward.

Hopefully, I won't need them again for years. But if I do they are my first call this time.

I had them come and do a service for me in which it was not a pipe problem but they were very eager to break open my ceiling and once finding out that was nor the problem I had a hard time getting someone to close up my ceiling. Called the corporate office and everyone push the blame on each other. Clogging issues is a go but what they say they offer is not the case. Two weeks my ceiling was exposured I had to find a contractor to close and paint the ceiling.

We had to have main pipe snaked because it was clogged and sewer water backing up into slop sink in the basement.  Couldn't flush, shower or do laundry.  We had Manny Ruiz as our tech and my first thought when I saw him at the door was who the hell can be smiling at 6 pm  at night when they've been doing such a dirty job all day AND drove here in sleet/rain?  But he was!  A smile and great disposition throughout the the whole process.  He was clean, thorough and honest about what it would cost.  To those with negative feedback about pricing overcharge - I'm with you which is why I did not rate this company a 5 (the tech I will rate a 5!).  I did pay the high price - it was a holiday week, other plumbers in my area could not come till next day because of high volume, we could not utilize any of the basic things like toilets and shower - to me that's an emergency!  So given those circumstances, having someone standing in my house ready to do the work right then and there was priceless.  Having said that, I would however call around and compare pricing for items such as broken faucets and things that aren't as necessary to have them up and running right away.  All in all my experience was great, the price they gave me at start was what it ended up being, no hidden fees and a 6 mos guarantee on the work.  My usual plumber does not offer guarantees on any work.  Manny is knowledgeable, friendly and has the best disposition of any person who works with nasty drains and toilets all day - ha ha ha.  I would recommend Manny Ruiz any day of the week and would highly recommend Roto Rooter for emergencies.

The WORST ever. I scheduled an appointment to get my water heater fixed and their service was horrible. Technician called me so many times complaining about parking spots so I gave him address to a parking lot nearby and told him that I will reimburse the parking fee. He was just complaining the whole time and didn't even go to my building to assess it. Not to mention that they didn't even let me know that of that at all. So basically, they didn't do their job, just left and didn't let me know until I called to confirm. Their technician was horrible in terms of how he handles situation. Just complains and never listens.

We had a big problem:  water (i.e., sewage) bubbling up next to where the main stack entered the ground.  This was on the outside of the pipe, and could only mean a crack in it.  I had run a snake into the line and encountered a blockage, but my little snake was useless.  I called these guys because they advertise complete plumbing services in addition to snaking lines.  We also had a leaking water supply valve in one of our toilets and figured we'd have the guy change that when he was out here.

The technician quoted about $500 to snake the line.  I thought that was really high.  I asked him how that would solve the problem since the water was coming up from outside the pipe.  He said it might.  My fault for believing, but I figured if the line was blocked maybe the backup pressure was forcing the water up into the house.  It wouldn't fix the pipe, but might alleviate the problem until I got the pipe repaired.

Now, the toilet . . ..  The technician told us that the toilet was very old (true) and he didn't have replacement parts on his van.  He wanted to go to Home Depot, buy a toilet for us, and charge $475 to install it.  We declined.  Over the weekend I went to Home Depot myself, found everything I needed and did the repair myself.  Cost under $20.  It took me under 1/2 hour to make the repair (not including the 45 minutes to go to Home Depot and back).  I expected RR to charge me about $75 to make the repair.  The guy refused to do the work and wanted to sell me a toilet I didn't need.

Since the guy said replacement parts weren't available, I googled the toilet and discovered that it dates back to at least the 1950s.  It's considered a unique piece (mid century modern), and people are selling them for around $400 and up.  This guy was so insistent on putting in a toilet from Home Depot, I wonder if he wasn't intending on taking our old one and selling it.  Just a suspicion.

When the guy gave me the bill, I saw that there was a charge of $59 for materials.  I asked him what this referred to, and he showed me a bottle of pipe treatment he was going to leave with us.  I told him I didn't want that, and I had to argue with him for 10 minutes before he agreed to refund the cost of that (he had already run it on my credit card before showing me the bill.).  He kept insisting that his quote included all materials but obviously this stuff wasn't needed (or used) for the snaking job so I think that was completely dishonest.

Getting back to the sewage line:  the technician said that repairing that line was handled by a different department.  They would need to send somebody with a camera to find the leak and give me an estimate.  The next day some guy called to schedule that visit.  As an aside, he told me that the cost to inspect the line with the camera would be over $700.  I nearly fell out of my chair.  But ... if we had these guys do the job, the inspection was free.  This scam would give them a $700 price advantage over other plumbers, because the only way another plumber's price would be lower is if it was more than $700 less than RR.

I went back on line and found out you can buy a camera for less than $30 from Amazon, tie it to a snake and inspect the pipe yourself, which is exactly what I did.

Everything about these people is designed to rip off the customer.  They know if you have poop coming up into your home you're desperate and will pay anything to fix the problem.  Steer clear if you can.  Find an honest plumber.  (The one we used for 20 years retired, unfortunately.)

p.s.  My profile says New York, but our home is in Hudson County NJ and this review is for the Jersey City RR.

Sump pump issues!!!! Made service request online, last night. received call early AM to schedule, services.
My Tech Manny # 525 arrived on time and was very pleasant .
He evaluated issues, discussed solution and price as promised.
I had a lot of questions, Manny had no issues answering them as well as being very knowledgeable in the field he is in.
A plus for me as well since he spoke Spanish, I could communicate easier.
Unfortunately my issue was NOT resolved due to weather inclement, FROZEN WATER in the pipe, there's nothing to be done, except wait for the thaw.
Manny advised when  weather warms to , give them a call if line is still not clear.
Overall I had a great experience, Thanks Manny for coming out today. He normally does not cover my area.
I will definitely be calling them back once the weather warms if issues still remains & will be requesting Manny # 525 to come out.

Stay away. Use any other plumber. Anyone. They are liars and thieves. If I could leave a negative star, I would. We used Roto-Rooter several times in the past without problem. This time, the amount of stress they caused my family is inexcusable. We called them about a leak Sunday night at 7pm. Emergency plumbers they are not. They said they couldn't come until 9am Monday. No one showed up. We called and they then informed us the town had to shut off our water. Why didn't they tell us that the night before? We called, the town shut off our water, and HOURS later, they showed up. The plumber they sent didn't know how to repair the problem. He said he would send someone else. The next plumber called and said he couldn't come until the next morning, and would be here at 10:30am. No one showed up. At 11:30, I called again. Someone at their 1800 number shouted at me and then hung up on me. This is the point where I lost my patience. I called again. They said he would be at our house in 30 minutes. An hour later, he showed up, sat in his van texting for 20 minutes, then came in to tell me he had to get a part from his job from the morning and would be right back. We had an emergency and small children in the home and they were already two days late. Why did Roto-Rooter send him to someone else's job that morning? He disappeared at 2pm, came back at 2:40. We went two days without water, without flushing toilets, without showers. For this, they charged $1,700 and refused to compensate us for our trouble.

This is my second time using roti-rooter services and I have been satisfied with both experiences.  I had the unfortunate experience of having a leak due to the frozen pipes.  I called in roti-rooter and had a tech the very next day.  Jenner Cole #2435 went above and beyond in his service.  I didn't feel as if I was being overcharged or he was wasting my time.  Before each step he would explain and show me the problem.  He fixed one leak and discovered another and fixed that leak as well.  The prices where under what I thought I would pay for this service and it wasn't a hassle.  I would call roto-rooter again for any of my plumbing problems.  Not only do they do a great job but also have great customer service.

$732 to install a new toilet! When their price is about four times the average, it's no wonder Roto-Rooter refused to give me a quote by phone. Instead, they made me go through all kinds of scheduling hassles only to discover their crazy pricing at the last minute from the plumber, who didn't even bother to look at the job. He couldn't find parking and so just called to give the quote without seeing the details of the job. So why couldn't that have been done from the very beginning, to save everyone the time and hassle associated with the on site visit? Because Roto-rooter has a policy of not sharing any pricing by phone, except obviously after lots of time has been wasted. Well, now you know the price without having to call: $732 to replace a toilet that YOU bought. If they supply the toilet it's probably at least $1,000.

The stem and handle of the shower in the apartment I am renting broke the first week of my move. I struggled to get a local professional in to take a look at it. Eventually, hoping that the problem would be a quick fix, I called roto-rooter. Someone showed up within a couple of hours. I was optimistic. Quickly, however, the plumber admitted he had no familiarity with the brand of the stem and shower handle. He nonetheless proceeded to work on the shower anyway. He failed to install it correctly and insisted that, in fact, the problem was bigger than simply replacing the stem and trim kit, that he would need to remove my shower's tile wall to replace the diverter, stem, and shower handles. He said it would cost $1548 + tax and, moreover, that he would not replace the tile, so I would have to find someone else for that. He charged me $213.25 for the visit that night, even though he did not fix the problem and had actually broken the replacement stem I had purchased myself.

I was suspicious of this and, after many phone calls, was finally able to get a local plumber to take a look at the shower and offer a second opinion. He and his partner fixed the shower in less than 30 minutes, all without taking out my shower wall.

So, not only was the roto-rooter plumber incompetent, unable to fix what turned out to be a rather straight-forward problem, he charged me for his failure and made up some story about a faulty diverter so that he could charge me an obscene amount of money to fix an imaginary problem. I would not recommend roto-rooter to anyone. They are predatory and will do what they can to charge you as much as they can.

Summary: I'll use this services again in the future should we have any similar problems.

Background: A few months back, the wife made an appointment for Roto-Rooter to drop by to tackle our island kitchen sink that has been giving us clog/slow-drainage problems since we moved into our unit.  Another technician from another company gave it a go last year and only managed to slightly ease the problem.  No amount of clog remover liquid helped for the long term. Since Roto-Rooter, no clogs/drainage problems have occured.

+ Points:
Accurate diagnosis of the situation.
The technician explained what he was doing and what needed to be done.
Relatively painless service request.

-Points:
None at this point.

We had a clogged toilet in our hallway bathroom in Nutley, NJ, and figured it was caused by the contractors who had been there for a few weeks renovating before we moved in, but didn't know exactly why it wouldn't flush properly. After putting up with it for a month, we called Roto Rooter. Our plumber, Harun, arrived within the 2-hour window I was given when I called the same morning. He was very friendly, patient and knowledgeable, and before he began working, he explained pricing for all the different services we might need, depending upon how far back into the system the clog was. After the snake/auger didn't work, he removed the toilet from the wall and dug around inside the back, and eventually pulled out a paint roller. So now we know it was the painter who clogged our toilet. Harun cleaned up the bathroom when he was done, had  a bucket with him to catch any drips as he carried equipment up and down the stairs, and wore shoe covers while in our home. He did a very professional job and we are thrilled to be able to use our hallway bathroom again.

Is it possible to give them zero stars?? I would not recommend this company. Unless you enjoy overpaying, sitting around waiting for techs to diagnose a problem multiple times, wait another day for parts, have them not fix your problem etc. If that's the case, this is the company for you....
Update to this review-After 4 days of trying to get a problem fixed I was just told that the part alone was over 4 times the actual cost-that's some mark up! I called an actual plumber and got the job completed for less than half the cost roto rooter quoted. From the rude manager, john, to the dishonest/lying plumbers, this princeton branch is awful. Don't waste your time or money!!!

Easy on line scheduling, professional call prior to arrival, professional and swift service of technician, discount coupon for service.

The only draw back if the price, almost double the price of our regular sewage guy, even with coupon.

Had a bathtub clog, tried to snake it myself but couldn't unclog it. Called Roto-Rooter around 3:45 pm, I was given a two hour window from 4 to 6 pm for a technician to arrive, received a call back at 4 pm and was told technician Manny would be there around 4:30 pm, Manny Technician #0525 arrived at 4:25 pm with his helper Cruz. They were both friendly and professional, I explained my problem and was quoted a price which I thought was reasonable I also asked Manny if he had time to do a whole house drain cleaning and have a kitchen faucet replaced. He said he had time and quoted me a price which I thought was fine for the amount of work that had to be done.
I lived in this house  over 60 years  and never had any major problems,  Upon further inspection Manny and Cruz found a few leaking valves and and cracked pipes that went unnoticed by myself, I am in my 70's and dont crawl under the sinks anymore. They showed me the problem areas and I was shocked to see how badly some of these old drain pipes were caroaded and leaking, one was so bad that just by snaking it poked a hole in the old pipe  which was behind the bathroom wall. I was not aware of how bad these old drain pipes were and it was getting late and didn't think there was time to fix them.  Manny told me not to worry and that he and Cruz would make sure everything would be fixed before they left.  Needless to say they knew exactly how to fix my problems and had all the necessary parts, they worked constantly and finished all the work around 9:30 pm. When the job was complete they cleaned all the areas where work was performed.
I am glad I called Roto-Rooter and happy they sent Manny and Cruz who I think are the best pluming technicians I have ever seen, and that also includes the plumbers I worked with at DOW Chemical company.  The price for all the work that was done was reasonable and Manny and Cruz were great.
Before they left Cruz saw that I was starting to take out the trash since tomorrow was garbage day, he offered and took out the bathroom and kitchen trash and put it out on the curb for me.
All I can say is thank you Manny and Cruz and Roto-Rooter.

Here's the email I just sent them:

I just had a simple kitchen drainpipe cleaning performed. The technician was friendly, did the work in an hour's time, and seemingly fixed the clog. The problem wasn't the service. THE PROBLEM IS YOUR PRICES. $450 for snaking a kitchen drain?? That is outright robbery! Of course, it's my fault for not investigating thoroughly before booking an appointment but, honestly, who in their right mind would even think that such a basic job would cost that much! It certainly doesn't take a genius to snake out a pipe, but even if it did, I don't know of any that charge $450 per hour! Do you? For comparison, after the fact, unfortunately, I called a local place that gets excellent reviews across the board and he quoted me $99. Much more reasonable. I'd even be willing to go double that, but $450?? It's outrageous. I will never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever EVER use Roto-Rooter again.

I had a problem with small water leak from the pipe behind my master bathroom toilet so I called Roto-Rooter. Turned out it was more than just a small leak and I had to get both of my master & guest bathroom toilets replaced. Victor (Technician 1301) from Middlesex branch was really professional and helpful. He showed me where the problems were and gave me all the options and suggestions what would be our best approach to resolve them. He also gave me good suggestions when we went to store and picked out the new toilets together. And he took his time and make sure everything works well. He even picked up extra parts just so we wouldn't have to make multiple trips to get the job done. Highly recommended and very happy with the service.

Took 2 visits as we ran out of time.  But two snakes were tried and 3 hours of trouble shooting later, a plan was developed.  The same technician returned a second day and knew right where to start.  A hole in the wall and a cut vent pipe allowed proper access and success.

Water was backing up in our slop sink when we ran the washing machine.  John from Roto-Rooter was great with fixing it.  He came in assessed the issue and thoroughly explained what the problem was - a build up of gunk (my word, not his) over time causing the water to not flow properly.  In addition to fixing the problem, John also explained how to prevent this from happening going forward. And for an added bonus, there's a 6 month guarantee on this.  I highly recommend Roto-Rooter...and John.

Big thumbs up to Roto-Rooter for fixing a super gross problem. Our toilet in the basement backed up with tons of raw sewage from the town main over the weekend. We thought we could wait until today but our plumber was not going to be back until Wednesday. Although the toilet wasn't leaking, the smell was horrible and we decided to make the call.

They sent someone in less than 2 hours. We were quoted two prices, depending whether they had to remove the toilet. Luckily, they didn't have to (for a variety of reasons).

Wilner, the plumber Roto-Rooter sent, was knowledgeable and polite. He fixed the problem in less than a half an hour. He also gave us a bottle of drain cleaner to help things along.

The only reason why I am not giving them 5 stars is on price. They are definitely more expensive than most plumbers I have previously used. I realize that you are paying for 24/7 availability and the brand.

If our regular plumber was not available and we had an emergency, I would call them in a jiffy.

Absolutely a delight to have Peter come out and help us clean up our old house's drain. Never would have thought I'd say that either! Great chat, great service - he cleaned up after himself perfectly and even said hello to the dogs. Absolutely will be calling again for future plumbing.

After a long day I come home to a backed up commode.  Roto-Rooter just left my home.  Manny (tech 525) was extremely knowledgable and very well spoken.  Intellectually explained the possible whys of the back up and the process of making the repair.  He also made recommendations to avoid another back up.  Quoted price upfront after making his assessment.  Job well done!  Thank you so very much!

I called up Roto Rooter for a backed up bathroom sink. Manny (Tech525) and his associate were very professional as they explained to me upfront what was needed and they quoted me with a price. They arrived within the promised time frame and worked until the drain was cleared. Thanks for a job well done! I would definitely use them again.

If I could give no stars I would.  I came home to a backed up sink with a major stench so they say 7X24 but guess what - we cant get you a plumber til  morning. OK I asked for 10 AM and was told some one would be there.  At 8:30 they called to see if they can come early ( same problem - I had told them I would not be home until 10),  Called to see what was happening at 9:30 -  plumber will be there within the hour.  10:30 -plumber will be there by noon -  Noon -  plumber will be there by 1 PM - he's coming from far away!!   At which point I cancelled the call.  The dispatcher did not say sorry for the inconvenience - nope -  he said fine and hung up the phone.  I dont care how professional you are - if you cant show up on time dont bother !!!!

We just had Victor from RotoRooter (Middlesex branch) clean out a main sewer line stoppage that had flooded part of our basement.  He was very nice, thorough, and clean.  He cleared both the sewer main and another small clog in the trap right next to the main drain using a 2-inch blade and then again with a 3-inch blade and the water flowed perfectly.  It was obvious that it was a strenuous job in a small space in our laundry room, and he was covered in sweat by job's end.  I was very appreciative for the hard work and the end result.  For Victor alone, I would've given him 5 stars.

However, my main complaint is in the price-- over $475+tax!  He was there for 2 hours and while it was a tough job, I just saw that I could've rented similar equipment from Home Depot for 1/4 of that price ($100 for the day)!  There are also YouTube videos showing how to use it.

We have lived in our house for 11 years and never had a stoppage like this so were thrown off by all the water we found in the basement after our washing machine overflowed.  After hours of clean-up and ripping up flooring, I was desperate to get back to using the water (we couldn't even flush the toilets or clean up!) and I sincerely expected at most a $200 job.  If I would've known I could rent my own equipment, I would've done that in a heartbeat!

Shame on me for not investigating such a matter further.  But shame on RotoRooter for charging such exorbitant rates and taking advantage of customers who are tired, frustrated and desperate.  I don't blame Victor for anything-- we discussed right in front of him that the price was huge, was more than a week of camp for our kids-- but he explained that the prices were fixed, there was no charge for the estimate, and that the price wasn't dependent on how long it took to complete the job.  We also weren't asked for cash (we ended up paying by credit card and found a $40 coupon) so the end bill was around $460 but I am disgusted and would never use this company again.

Knowing what I know now, I will always do my own drain clearing and will be sure to watch lots of YouTube videos and read many more reviews before getting any service from a professional.  Costly but valuable lesson learned.

A pleasure to deal with. Easy scheduling either through website or by phone. I scheduled by phone. I got an email confirmation of my scheduled appointment. On the day of the scheduled service I got a call from a nice lady telling me that they're running a little late. Then got another call telling me a tech will be arriving in 15mins, which he did. Very professional and organized. They also emailed me a detailed receipt after the service.

Tech Joseph is a great guy. I was lucky to get him. I had a clogged sewer pipe. He knew right away what to do. Very knowledgeable.

I only gave 4 stars because there's NO service guarantee, due to my sewer pipe having a running trap. I was given estimates for jetting and excavation ($5k).

Called them on a Sunday and was surprised that they had someone there within 40 minutes. That's where the good experience stopped. The plumber asked my wife to go out and pick up the parts that we would need to fix the job. Then he told me that if he had to do it, there would be a markup on parts. He failed to mention that the markup would be a full 100%. He then told me that he bought the exact same faucet that we had previously, but it turned out to be a different style gloss finish then the rest of our appliances matte finish. Happy to have a working sink. Not happy that every time I look at the mismatched faucet, I will be reminded that it cost me over $650 for a less than two hour job. $135 of it being the actual cost of the parts from home depot. Not good at all.

We called Rotor Rooter for a rental property we have because it was a Sunday and no other plumber would come out on a Sunday. We had a back up in a tub one of our apartments. We didn't want the tenants to be without a bathroom so called Rotor Rooter. Before even seeing what the problem is, they sent out a Hazmat guy. Lucky we did not have any sewerage on floor or they would have made the job a very expensive job. So be careful as they will try to screw you.

I had a great experience with Isaac, one of Roto-Rooter's plumbers. He had good humor, lots of knowledge, and a ton of patience. We had a clogged sewer line that was causing flooding in our basement and he dealt with it. It was a long, difficult job, caused by years of main sewer line build up, but he and his trusty snake dealt with the job. He even helped me carry in the carpet cleaning gear I rented from Home Depot. He was so great that I gave him an extra $30 tip. While I hope I never have to hire a plumber again, Isaac made it as painless as it could be.

Had the same problem as I did the last time I called them and it turns out it is in fact the toilet paper we were using was causing the back up . Called on a Friday night at 9:45 pm and with in 20 mins a tech was at my door and just over and hour of calling everything was finished ! The tech himself was a nice young man very personable and all smiles ...So far this place is batting 2 for 2 with me!
