We had Harry do a few things for our shop; built a partition wall and did all of our overhead lighting including two chandeliers. The work they did was fast and he's so nice to boot. I would recommend him to anyone for anything.

Your search for a top-notch contractor ends here. I reached out to Harry's Contracting via yelp regarding a quick project and he was able to get things done on time and on budget. I thought it was going to be a stressful process due to the fact that I live in a co-op building, but Harry was able to get all the necessary paperwork to the management company in a timely fashion and got the project done. I appreciated how Harry heard me out on what I needed to have done to my apartment and provided guidance on how to best get it done. If I ever need to have any work done to my apartment again in the future, Harry's THE man.

So Harry came to the rescue, once again, and helped update my 50 year old set of front stairs. As per usual, he was punctual and concise with the estimate and the work to be done. His contracts are very detailed which I very much appreciate. Harry's  guys worked hard and had the stairs completed in less than a day and a half. My rail was taken off in order to do the work, but Harry had a guy ready to reinstall soon after and made it look like new. They were very polite, fast, and efficient. I am very happy with the outcome and hopefully can continue with much needed renovations, with Harry's help, when the time is right in the future. I definitely must also give credit to his friendly, hard working, and patient office assistant, Arianna, who dealt with my many questions before accepting to go forward with the job. Harry has a great team one can rely on.

I used Harry's and his team services a year ago to renovate my studio apartment. The work consisted of a complete gut renovation of the apartment except for the kitchen. The only thing I had him do in my kitchen was gas and water pipes reallocation, which his team did according to my specifications. His team did an awesome job renovating my bathroom which included some heat and drain pipe relocation, wall and floor tile installation, shower install, vanity (mirror,et al),and toilet and sink. They  installed new engineered wood flooring throughout the entire apartment and tile on my hallway entrance. I also had them install new sheetrock and sound proofing to 85% of the apartment which was a very wise decision since I have noisy neighbors. The painting and molding installation pricing  was included in the new sheetrock wall installation. He also build a storage space in my hallway himself which came out really great. He also had his electrician install new outlets and wiring throughout the apartment and harry himself installed my ceiling light and fan in my living room. I also had him gut a wall so I could have exposed brick on one of my main walls. I was waiting a year to write this review because I wanted to see how the work he did held up for a year. The reason why I'm giving Harry 4 stars instead of 5 is because I had his electrician install in-wall cable tv sockets, so I would not have the ugly Time Warner cable running from my hallway to my modem exposed. When I had the cable guy over to install the modem there was no signal coming in through the sockets because the in-wall cable was not installed properly. In the end I was not able to get internet from them and I paid Harry extra for the cable in the wall work. Overall I was very happy with the work and I will definitely hire him and his team again. I have recommended his services to my family, friends, neighbors, and others. Thank you Harry!

After losing the the supports under our deck to a mixture of dampness and carpenter ants I contacted Harry for some help. The top of the deck was made of teak and was still in good condition. Harry was able to expertly rebuild the supports to the original size and and re install the wood on the top. Harry was professional and my backyard was spotless when he left. I would absolutely recommend Harry to anyone looking for a great contractor.

Harry is a true pro.  I recently decided to do some remodeling and was referred to him for some bathroom work.   Totally exceeded expectations and was quick.

After my wife saw what he did with the bathrooms we had him refinish the wood floors that we've been meaning to do and am glad we did.   Can't say enough about him.  Glad I found him

Solid work! After being jerked around by a couple people for our kitchen renovation, we found Harry through Yelp. At our first meeting, we definitely got a good vibe from him. Friendly guy, very personable, kind of serious looking, but able to crack some jokes. So we decided to go with him.

The job consisted of three separate trips, because we were coordinating electrical work in the kitchen, and it needed to be done in the proper order. And we were sort of on a deadline and we relayed this to Harry, who assured us it would be done on time. I guess we were nervous and needed to be updated or wanted to know a definitive time. At times Harry could be too laid back, or maybe he was used to more laid back customers, or our job was small so he wasn't as definitive with his dates/times -- but there were two instances where he said he would call/come by, but then he didn't. He always called and let us know -- he never just flaked on us completely or ignored us. However, I guess we were relieved, excited, and hopeful whenever he told us a specific time/date, and we were expecting him on said time/date because that meant things were not stalled. Once he finished his part, we could get the electrician to do his part, and so forth.

It didn't make us upset at Harry; we could tell he was a good guy. But we were weary. We didn't want to be clients that were not taken seriously, whether we were young or seemed passive. We needed to let it be known that we expected things on a specific timeline, as promised (that's why we went with this business in the first place). My husband sent out an email on two different occasions asking for more information, and asking to speak with Harry. Harry's office manager/receptionist was on point. She always responded very quickly.I could tell she kept the ship running smoothly, because whenever we emailed her, Harry would follow up with a call. I really appreciated that communication. It was instant! I can tell they do take their clients and business seriously.

In the end, it all worked out. As for Harry's work, it showed quality. And he was efficient with what he did in one day. He and his team also cleaned up after themselves, very well. They didn't leave garbage or sheet rock dust . They even swept up too.

I know our job was small and minor, but I have confidence that bigger projects or a full on gut/renovation, he could do very well.

Harry was referred by window company and highly recommended. He is Lighting fast on the job and is a constant burst of energy all the time. He does not stop moving unless the job is done. He does have an secretary that pick up his calls and help organize his calendar and ect. So that was a very nice feature to have when i was dealing with him.

Harry help me install a storm door in a metal frame with concrete filling so it was not a easy job. we had him build a pvc frame for the storm door. concrete saddle and marble tiles. it was not cheap but completely worth it. the finish came out perfect and exactly what we was looking for. me and my wife could not be more happier with the job harry and his team delivered. My wife is a architecture and was impress with harry excellent carpenter skills and detail to perfection.

Would Highly Recommend Harry in his carpenter techniques, Very honest, trust worthy contractor, and with fair price quotes.

Harry and co did great work upgrading our cellar half bath to a full bathroom. They handled several types of work including demo, electrical, a challenging plumbing upgrade to a nearly century old drain pipe, electrical, fireproofing, tiling and procuring/installing a custom shower partition. I've worked with a few contractors over the years and Harry had the best communication by far, keeping me in the loop for all of the important decisions. The finish work came out great and we're very happy

My office decided to use Harry to repair two heavily used trash drawers in our pantry. Both Harry and his staff were professional and nice to work with. We received exactly what we requested. The end result looks good and seems very sturdy. I would not hesitate to reach out to them for a second project.

I know, everyone says hire a licensed contractor that you've vetted by seeing their work in person.  And they say that for a reason, because my husband and I were really screwed over by an unlicensed guy who worked on our neighbor's house and really talked a good game.  But he messed up our house so badly.  He did stupid mistakes that even I knew were wrong (and I'm just an average DIYer).  It was a living nightmare to watch this guy and his workers break antique fixtures, refuse to repair mistakes they made, not build cabinets and walls to my specifications, and paint things incorrectly with gobs of expensive paint.  I was literally staying up late nights after they left to undo and redo these people's work.

So, you can imagine how relieved I was when we decided to fire that guy and look up on Yelp for someone new.   Harry came over right away to give an estimate and pointed out all the mistakes the nightmare contractor did.  He had great ideas for neatening up details to make everything look perfect and be built to last.   His estimate was a little more expensive than I expected, but pretty close to what we were paying before, and I could tell that Harry's expertise and work ethic were way above average.

Harry himself came by most of the time to do the work, with assistants and subcontractors who cared as much as he did.  He tiled an intricate backsplash, straightened walls, repaired several plumbing mistakes, and repaired cabinets (that my friends who are cabinet makers said would be nearly impossible/a total pain in the neck).  He and his workers always swept and vacuumed after themselves, which was such a relief after experiencing utter disarray with the last people.  And when a couple things were left unfinished or incorrectly done (some stains in our tub from the plumber, an unpainted sheetrock repair), Harry came by again until we were 100% satisfied in his work.

It's really hard to find someone you can trust in the contracting world.   I've done several projects over a couple of homes and have seen the gamut of workers: cheap and shady, cheap and kind but not really great, expensive and shady, and then there's Harry (and Ariana in the office who deserves a shout out!), who stands by his workmanship and subcontractors and gets things done on time.  I wish I hired him first for every project we've done, and he will always be the first person I call from now on.

This may read more like an ad than a review but trust me, I'm a very, very happy and impressed customer!
Harry (and his whole outfit) is THE BOMB -- if you're having nightmares about finding a trustworthy contractor, much less a GREAT contractor who has a top-notch team and will take his work PERSONALLY and SERIOUSLY, worry no more.
My wife and I engaged Harry to do a gut renovation of our kitchen and bathroom -- major project/dream project so we really hoped to find the right contractor -- BOY we lucked out with Harry! Here's an incomplete but itemized list of ways he delivered:
ALWAYS on time -- the first day our buzzer literally rang at 9am on the dot and it was Harry with a full crew!
The main gut was done in 2/3 days -- over the Christmas holidays they only took maybe two days off, including Christmas Day, then they were right back at it -- A+ for efficiency across the board.
He's got great guys working for him and specifically their care for the areas of our apartment they weren't working on was very noticeable.
Communicating with Harry was GREAT! He texts super promptly and if he doesn't answer the phone (he usually DOES answer the phone!) he calls absolutely ASAP.
He was super communicative about letting us know when we needed to be set with choices on our end, whether bathroom fixtures, floor stain, electrical decisions, etc.
Attention to detail was phenomenal!
Also a huge factor: in addition to his immediate crew Harry has relationships with a great plumber, a great electrician, a great master wood worker, plus connections with local tile and tile fabrication sources -- I'm telling you, it's a complete and efficient team!
And the clean-up at the end was way more thorough than what we expected.
Do yourself a favor -- I know it can be confusing and you may be hearing different things from different people about what needs to happen in your space, etc., etc. Just hire Harry -- you won't regret it!

I closed on a home in March. Two months later, my homeowners insurance company sent me a cancellation later because the former owners had an illegal treehouse on the premises. Panicked, I looked here to yelp! and found Harry's, who was both local and had great reviews.

I submitted an email with the issue of needing this treehouse demolished ASAP and the first thing in the morning, Arianna called me (who, by the way was FANTASTIC in preparing written estimates, costs, anything my insurance company asked for credential wise).

She told me they could start demolition that day, and they would only need a day to complete this. I called her the next day to give her the OK on the project, and she told me workers would be there around 12 and would finish by the time I got home at 2:30. During the work, they even stopped to call and asked if I wanted to keep a child's table and chairs the found in the treehouse!

Needless to say, as I was walking down the block, they were loading the last bit of my now demolished tree house in their truck. I went to look at where the work was done, accompanied by them, and everything was neat, clean...no evidence there was ever a treehouse there!

Very professional, very polite...very reasonably priced...a fellow on the job did not even want to accept a tip offered by me! They saved me SO MUCH stress, were very accomodating...a dream job come true...as they were there when I was at work, and by the time I came home, they were done and I could just relax.

I would not hesitate to recommend Harry's to anyone, and will use them again when my next catastrophe occurs!

First, let me start off by saying that Harry is the most professional contractor that we've had the pleasure of working with. We hired Harry and his company to take care care of a bunch of random repairs around our home.

We had a leaky shower faucets and pipes, broken lights and light switches, landing steps that needed to be replaced, holes in walls that needed patching, boiler room valves that wouldn't close properly, a closet that needed to be repaired and a drive way that needed to be demolished and redone with a structural column that needed repairing as well.

Safe to say it was a lot of little jobs that needed to be fixed. Did I also mention that my husband and I needed this to be taken care of relatively quickly since he would be travelling to Colombia within two weeks and I would be out of state with work?

Our interactions with Harry was extremely easy-going. My husband gave him a list of issues that were mentioned previously to be fixed and Harry gave us a itemized proposal. Harry was also one of the only contractors on Yelp who actually got back to us and made time for us.

All in all the repairs were done before our travel plans. It took about a week total to fix everything and we couldn't be happier. There was about a week lead since our first walk through since he does have other clients.

Harry is fair with his pricing and does quality work. Most of all he is professional, easy to work with and extremely kind. We would definitely hire him again. There is something rare about finding someone who takes pride in their craft and even rarer that they aren't trying to take advantage of you.

This company is definitely worth doing business with ..they did a very nice job for us in regard to completing work in the  time they promised. Providing excellent  workmanship and even prompt after service ...and yes, when something went wrong, they go the extra mile to rectify any situation... they even paid for any equipment damaged in accident .
Yes this company is a nice trustworthy company with nice, efficient and painstaking employees who go to every detail to do the best job they can.
Yes they may be pricey but, yes this is a great company to do business with and i am sure this company will make you feel good with the price well spent.
Sure hope to use them again in future.

I contacted Harry through Yelp and got a quick response and quote. He honestly gave me the best price to redo my kitchen and he did a great job. When it comes to professionalism, Harry and his crew set the bar. They're professional, clean, on time, and tell you exactly what they need to do and how long it'll take to fix your problem. I had a leak coming from an upstairs shower and Harry and his crew diligently took their time trying to find where it was hiding. They clean immediately after they are done in an area, and put down paper from the work area to the doorway to make sure they're not tracking any debris. Harry found the busted pipe in my bathroom ceiling, and after two days of work, you would never even know they were here. I can't recommend them highly enough and will be working with them again on my future projects. Thanks to Harry and his team for their professionalism.

I needed some additional work done in my basement after I had a back-flow preventer put in, and Harry was the first person I called.  He and his partner completed the job quickly and my basement looks great!  While he was there, he even solved a (completely separate) electrical issue we were having, at no additional cost!  So awesome!

We hired Harry right before the COVID 19 pandemic. We are fairly new to Middle Village and have gone through our share of horrible contractors. Good price, poor work- great work but very expensive price and a cocky attitude. Then we met Harry (contractor #4) who was not the least expensive, but great, quality work. I met Harry on Yelp a few years ago but never hired him for work because he was busy and the work I needed was not urgent. This time I hit the jackpot! Harry and his men were professional and human; punctual, respectful and trustworthy. They respected our home, our children and our schedules. They fixed up my botched bathroom that contractor 2 worked on. My bathroom was not even a year old and the floor tiles were cracking and the saddle in my shower was leaking! At the same time, I trusted them with my kitchen backsplash that took me almost a year to decide on. The end results speak for themselves. I will definitely hire Harry and his crew again. I am very happy customer.

I would like to compliment Harry on his work ethic and responsible business practice.  I had contracted Harry's Contracting to do a woodworking job in my home.  Harry was  willing to listen to my concerns, handled situations in a superb manner and went over and beyond my expectations.  His honesty and willingness to take care of his customer and provide the best service possible is amazing.  He was with me each step of the way and is intent on customer satisfaction.  I would highly recommend Harry for all home projects.  Amazing contractor and person.  Thank you Harry!

Harry is THE MAN!

What makes Harry different is that he is a contractor WITH A BRAIN! He thinks on the spot and problem solves. If there is a pipe behind a wall that we weren't expecting to be there, he quickly figures out a great solution to ensure our original plans still work out.

We hired Harry and his team to do a gut renovation - merging two apartments into one on the upper west side.

It involved ripping out the old floor tiles, removing all walls, gutting a kitchen and turning it into a bathroom, redoing all electrical and plumbing, installing new wood flooring, custom building and installing all new closets, building all new walls, installing all custom doors and door frames, all electrical work and of course painting the entire place.

HARRY HAS FANTASTIC ATTENTION TO DETAIL AND CARES: No matter if it was about altering the design of a door frame to ensure it wouldn't crack down the line or anything minor, Harry cares and wants to make sure it is done properly and in a way that would make me happy to live there.

HARRY PUTS IN THE EXRTA EFFORT: As an example, he and his team carried 12 foot long pieces of wood up 10+ flights of stairs (wouldn't fit in the elevator) to ensure when the wood was installed, there would be less number of joints than if he had simply purchased 8 foot long pieces and used the elevator (which is what our last contractor did 5 years ago).

COMMUNICATION: Harry was always easily reachable on the phone and was on site a couple days each week. Whenever I told him I would be in to check on the place, he would be there and walk through with me.

TIMELINE: I gave Harry a challenge - gut renovate and merge two apartments to create a three bedroom, three bathroom apartment. Do it with great detail and everything was to be custom made, from the kitchen to the book shelves to the reading nook area, built-in office desk and all closets. Oh, and do it within 4 months... He did it. Despite the challenges of renovating during covid and having limits on the number of workers in the apartment, he managed to deliver on time. This is a testament to Harry's commitment to his clients, his dedication and accountability.

PAINTING: I haven't seen anyone paint like this before. Despite putting up all new walls, Harry had his team spend ~2 weeks compounding, sanding, flattening, and all over again, multiple times, so that each wall was as smooth as a baby's bottom. They also smoothed all my metal window frames that had ~40 years of paint layers built-up on them. Needless to say the final paint job came out really nice.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so I'll post a number of pictures so you can see for yourself his final work.

Thanks for the great work to you and the team Harry

Regards
Ronnie

After 2 consecutive nightmares involving contractors for our bathroom, we did some serious research and found Harry. He was the only one of three more estimates to come in right away. He was also very personable and knowledgeable. His proposal was a little higher than others, but more detailed and specific, leading to no issues later on. Also, as an old contractor myself, I know that you truly get what you pay for. I tend to gravitate towards the higher ones. You'll forget about the cost, but live with the bathroom for years!
Well, that's exactly how it turned out. We are a bit nitpicky at times, but Harry just rolled right along with it and made the changes.  In the end it was an outstanding job!  If my wife is happy, I am happy.
Take the plunge, go with the best!

We found Harry through his glowing yelp reviews and are pleased to add another. We hired Harry to replace a few broken bathroom tiles under and around our toilet. A pleasure to work with!  Harry understood exactly what I wanted to do in about 5 minutes of me explaining and showing him, quoted me one week to do the job and delivered.  Went above and beyond, look at the wonderful job he did in the pictures attached.  All my neighbors have been complimenting the job and took his contact info as well.  Brightened up the street and breathed new life into the neighborhood. Thanks again Harry!

Yes, a real 5-star review. Harry really is as good as people say. I needed a ceiling fan installed, and some tiles repaired in the bathroom. Harry came, quickly assessed the situation, laid out what the work entailed and provided a price. Followed up in a couple of hours with a formal quote, that laid out all the work that would be done (in detail, down to the painting, patching, grouting, everything - that way everyone knows what is getting paid for). He worked with my co-op board to get insurance paperwork taken care of, lead-paint riders, everything. I will be there at 9am on Monday. And 9am on Monday he is there, I go off to work, throughout the job he's in touch with me to let me know what's happening and with any questions.

Now here's the bit that really makes him great: the fan had a defective motor controller. He called the manufacturer and they shipped a new one. I'm thinking, Great, so now I have to pay for the electrician to come back. Nope - the new part came, the electrician came and fitted it. Didn't work. Ordered a new part. The electrician came again, fitted it, now it works. That's an additional 3 hours of work that I'm not charged for - Harry is a guy who takes the view that the job is done when it's done, and not before.

I would recommend him to anyone who needs a contractor - is he the cheapest? Probably not. But in this business you get what you pay for. And honestly, I would rather pay 10-20% more for a guy who I know does good work (I mean, he painted the whole ceiling after he installed the fan, I didn't want the patch to look different from the rest of the ceiling,), comes when he says, cleans up after himself, is polite, organised, and communicates. The lady in his office, Adrianna, is incredible - she is On The Case, she responds to emails quickly, you're never left thinking the guy's got my 50% deposit, is that the last I'm going to see of him?

Put it this way - I'm already thinking of more work that I can have done so I can get his guy's back here. You will not be sorry if you hire him.

This is such an long overdue review. But Harry is such an incredibly responsive and responsible contractor we had the great fortune of finding and working with. He and his team did a wonderful job with all our requests. Harry is honest, hardworking and conscientious. His job isn't an easy one at all dealing with client's pressured timelines and demanding requests. But he makes this process easier for his clients, making him a gem of a human and contractor.

Harry first erected scaffolding for us to assist Rich Air install AC on a landmarked brownstone, 4 stories high. We were so impressed with his service and the extreme care of our home while his crew carried the scaffolding thru our kitchen and into the backyard, we remembered him when our general contractor a few years later went radio silent on us. Now Harry is the only contractor we will use, and he covers everything from general maintenance to architectural and engineering upgrades and improvements, including having one of the best architects we have ever hired, even winning approval on appeal to the Landmarks Commission for the alteration/improvement of our property with a period wrought iron fence installed across the front of our lot.

It's important to say that Harry is not only very professional, but he is also easy to work with in terms of his respect for and treatment of women. I have never felt condescension or any of the usual manspeak coming from him. He has a wonderful sense of humor and design, and can be easily engaged with to bring to fruition ideas from an aesthetic that is truly unique in a general contractor.

Harry is also a skilled carpenter, and his employees are also well supervised and skilled. Their work is remarkably well-done, beautifully installed or built, painted, finished, and so on. And last but not least, they can caulk a beautiful, smooth seam without ridges or chunks of smeared caulk all over the place.

If you want the work done right the first time by a respectful crew of skilled workers, contact Harry. He has been our general contractor for everything from roofing and roof hatch replacement, to decking on a set-back terrace, to door installations, to engineering repairs on a central staircase, to electrical improvements, skylight installations, and is about to embark on a front wrought-iron fence installation and bathroom remodelling. And I'm sure we won't let him leave until he remodels the basement and stucco refinishes the front facade of our 130 year old brownstone.

They were fair on price. They repaired my broken wall panel and it looks so good you can't even tell it was broken. They were on time for the appointment and cleaned up after the work was done. I highly recommend them for any home repair.
