This is the first time I have written a review, but I felt like i just couldn't let this slide... I called burton because it was sunday and my water heater broke. They didnt even ask if i wanted them out that night, they told me tuesday morning. I knew I'd be paying more by going with them, but their website says they carry a ton of parts and I need hot water. My mom was there to greet the technicians because my daughter had a doctor appt.
The technician called me and told me it would cost over 1400 to repair my water heater. Turns out they dont have Rheem parts and the cost of driving around town was part of the reason for the high repair estimate. Then told me it would cost 1800+ for a bare bones water heater and 2200 on up for a water heater with more options or a warranty. The other options went up to 6500!!! Absolutley insane, I told them no thank you and of course I still had to pay the 60 dollar service call.
I called A. Raymond plumbing. They came out that day and fixed it. Under 200 dollars. They were honest, helpful and friendly. I will always call them for any future plumbing needs.
Oh yea.... the tech for a. Raymond's plumbing had to drive to get a part as well. Somehow he managed to do it without charging me 1400+
I use to trust them. They have handled my plumbing issues satisfactory in the past. This time I needed HVAC as my Furnace went out, my 9 year old furnace. I agreed to the rush emergency response fee but their solution seemed excessive. Price was high, real high, just to get me going but said there were all these other problems and suggested new furnace. Then they weren't able to to give prices, just slimy used car salesman tactics with payment plan pricing and offering to upgrade this and that while doing. Rubbed me the wrong way, so told them I need a second opinion. The competitor I called came out within a few hours of my call, had heater running with a few checks in minutes. I paid for emergency service and the recommended maintenance which was less than a third of Burton's lowest price. He proceeded to also educate me what I was doing wrong that contributed to the furnace stopping on me in the first place and what I can do to get up and running again if the same problem occurs again. If Burton was honest and just said this what happened and this is what it will cost to fix instead of the hard sell trying to milk me for every dime I had, I would have probably been happy paying double than what I did. I would have not known better. This HVAC incident lost them my future plumbing business. The business I was happy with in the past because I didn't know better.

Called Burton at 10am on a friday morning because our kitchen sink would not drain at all. Told us they would be out between 12 & 5 that day. Gave my husbands cell number to call when they were on their way because we both work. About 2:30 get a call on my cell phone (not sure why they called it when we never gave it to them to call) and said they were running a little behind but should be out soon. 5:30 rolls around still no one shows or calls. We call them back and they say they are still behind but will definitely be out tonight still. 7:30pm...still no one shows and they call my cell again, still running behind but will still be out. 8:30pm another call....Sorry we aren't going to make it tonight, can we do it tomorrow? I tell them that with 3 children all playing basketball we will be in and out all day. They ask what time would work best for me, so I tell them between 11-1. That is about the biggest time frame I had that I would be home. They say...Sorry, that won't work for us...can we pick another day? I said..this is my kitchen sink. I could see if it was just one of my bathroom sinks, but kind of need a kitchen sink to drain without waiting 3 days for someone to come snake it. Told then nevermind...next morning called another well know company and they said they would be out shortly.
Sorry but I could never recommend Burton when they just keep putting off customers like that. Makes me wonder if it was a bigger job then just snaking a drain, if they would have been out faster. If you couldn't come out that day, you should have just told me you were super busy and I could have called another company then instead of waiting and waiting for you. Then I also wouldn't have had to give you a bad review and might have tried you again next time I had a problem.

Burton Plumbing uses scare tactics to try and sell you equipment you don't need. I signed up for the $9.95 Partner Program with them and decided to take advantage of the complimentary A/C service check before the summer last year. When the guy came out, he went through my entire home and looked at the furnace, water heater and A/C. I told him I just wanted my A/C serviced and he said that he had to check on the other things too. He proceeded to tell me that my furnace was dangerous and should be condemned immediately, my water heater was very old and on it's last leg, and that my A/C was installed improperly and was a hazard. He even had me sign some paperwork stating that Burton was not liable if my furnace killed anyone. He had me so concerned with my furnace that when winter rolled around again and my new home warranty kicked in, I called them and they sent out a reputable company to check it. Low and behold, my furnace is fine and has lots of years left! In fact, they suggested I install a humidifier to extend the life!
Today, I had that same company come out and look at my air conditioner that wasn't cooling properly, afraid they would tell me I needed a new unit, and guess what? My A/C is fine too! The outside unit is perfect but I need a new coil inside...something Burton never checked. Luckily for me, my home warranty covers the new coil!
I will NEVER call Burton again for any kind of service. They will tell you anything to get you to spend money!
Nice receptionist on the phone, and worker on time to my home and was wearing mask as I requested. Downhill from there. Price they quoted was nothing short of obscene. Crazy. Run from this get up. They said $710.00 to replace a LED security motion light- they said the fixture alone is premium and costs them $400.00 from their electric supply house. They said this would include a 5 year warrenty. There was no confusion. I asked them to send me a picture of the box of the fixture and/ or the receipt which they did not want to do. We looked all over the internet trying to find a LED sec light- could not find one for over $60.00, so their quote of a fixture costing $400.00 I do not believe is true. Burton's lowest price (the 5th option) is for me to buy a fixture and them to install w a 1 year warrrenty for $249.00.. So bottom line is I bought an LED light motion/fixture at Costco for $40.00 w lifetime warrenty and hired an electrician to install it for $96.00. IMO this company is a huge rip off.
If you're looking at this review, and thinking about hiring Burton, do yourself a favor and read the filtered reviews as well. The general theme of a tech coming in and quoting a mind-boggling amount of money for very little work is entirely in line with my experience. No one else has mentioned the service plan they try to sell you; pay a hundred or so bucks for the service plan, they'll give you the discounted rate, which is only 50% higher than most everyone else rather than at least double.
Don't bother with Burton. There are lots of good plumbers around that won't charge you 300 bucks to snake a drain.

Had them out to simply replace a sink. We already purchased the sink and faucet prior to calling. We just wanted a swap out with maybe some new pvc needed underneath for the drain.. Cost us $60 to get an OUTRAGEOUS estimate of $1700 for them to do this minimal job. The technician Justin was a really nice guy but unless you like literally throwing money down the drain you should never hire them.
Let me just say this...$470 to replace a faucet????? Are you kidding me? I went to Lowes and they will not only replace my undermount sink (Burton doesn't do that), but they will also replace the faucet ALL for $245. So after Burton tells me they want to charge me $470, I then decline, he then charges me $49 just to have given me the quote!!! Do NOT recommend.
I should begin by saying I have used Burton Plumbing in the past without any significant complaint. However, the last time I used them (Dec. '10) changed that.
I needed to have a gas line capped because we were moving. The people to whom we were renting our house had asked that we have the job done professionally. This particular line went into our dryer. We were under a significant timeline as we were donating the washer and dryer to Habitat for Humanity and they were picking them up the next day. I called one business who said they could do the job for $140.00 (I thought) but they couldn't get out until the following day. Too late - I needed faster. I called Burton. They said they could get someone out that evening. I didn't get a price over the phone, but was assured I would get up-front pricing when the service person came to our house.
Man, did I ever get up-front pricing. When the service person arrived, he told me the job would cost approximately $350.00. I was able to say, You've got to be kidding. but otherwise was speechless. My mind raced as I tried to think how I could get someone else to do the job within my timeline. The service person commiserated with me, but told me the job coding tied his hands. I mumbled something like. I don't believe this. and told the person a competitor had quoted me $140.00 over the phone. A long, awkward silence ensued.
Finally, the service person said he thought he could code the job differently and reduce the price to $150.00. Would that be acceptable? I said I thought I could live with that price. He started the job, but didn't have the right sized wrench so went out to his truck to get one. Total time to do the job: 5 minutes. If he had had a wrench that was the correct size with him, I believe the time of the job would have been closer to 30 seconds.
We're done. Time to write up the bill and pay. The service person fiddled with his little hand held computer and after several minutes said, It's not letting me use that one job code. I'm going to have to go back to the other code and charge you the higher price. I should have refused to pay and told him to leave and if anyone had a problem with it, they could call me. I didn't do that. Wimpy me.
I got a follow up call from Burton about 5 minutes after the service person left. I expressed my extreme displeasure and used phrases like 'price gouging' and 'bait-and-switch'. The poor girl on the other end of the line was at a loss for words. She said she would have a service manager call me - probably by the next day. No one called me the next day. I, however, called that competitor that had quoted me $140.00 over the phone. Maybe I hadn't heard correctly.
I hadn't. It wasn't $140.00, it was $120.00. I verified that $120.00 was total cost and not just the cost to send someone out. $120.00 - total cost.
I finally heard from Burton about ten days later. They couldn't run the bank card because the service person hadn't correctly copied the numbers. I took the opportunity to again complain about how I was treated. I again was told a service manager would call. And again, nothing but crickets from Burton.
Accusations of price gouging and bait-and-switch are bad enough, but I believe Burton's greatest sin here is that they didn't care enough to follow up with an unhappy customer. They're apparently big enough that they don't have to. Shame on them.
P.S. I apparently can't give 0 stars as a rating. So Burton lucks out and gets 1 star. They don't deserve it.
Horrible service. Incompetent. WAY over priced. Lied about what needed to be done!!
DO NOT USE THEM!
If you read a good review it's because they paid or had an employee write one! Come on!

I checked out a lot of plumbers in the region across multiple sources, including the BBB and Yelp. I decided to go with Burton because so many other plumbing services wouldn't even give me a service call price! The plumber showed early (after checking with me to ensure I was available), and got to work right away. I needed the tank insides rebuilt on one toilet and I wanted the other one checked. I got an estimate for $600 to replace the entire insides of two toilets... it was a bit higher than I expected but I figured they would be good for years to come. The first toilet was fixed up quickly and works perfectly! The other toilet cracked when he tried to tighten the tank back onto the toilet seat. We discussed options and I ended up getting a new toilet installed to replace it with a $150 discount. In the end, $800 for one rebuilt and one new toilet. The technician was professional and courteous, but the prices are high! I did not experience the scare sales that others reported, but then again, I was forced to buy a new toilet. On the plus side, I got quite a discount due to the breakage - So, after one time using them, I'm not sure how to rate them. Was the break a tactic to sell me something I didn't need? I find it difficult to believe, but I've heard of worse tactics too. Regardless, the prices were quite high!

We just moved into our new house. Our main drain backed up so we called Burton. They told us the pipe was broken in 2 spots. they estimated us at 13k. We called a second and third opionion and they told us fit was just roots. nothing was even broken and it only cost me 400$. They are thieves and liars who try to take advantage of new home owners. I will never choose this place or inform anyone to choose it as well. They either didnt know what they are doing or just were trying to take advantage. I feel they should be run out of business.
Overpriced and horrible customer service. Left a mess in my house and when I called I got the run around about speaking to a supervisor. Several days later and no call back from anyone. Do not use!!!!!! I cant say 0 stars
As others have noted and as I was later told by my Realtor, Burton has to pay for all those nice trucks and billboards somehow. They do so by charging a ridiculous amount to do simple work. I needed a gas stub put into our laundry room directly above the mechanical room with the gas main. After calling the utility company and another plumber (neither of whom could come out the next day), I called Burton who said they'd be out in the morning. Long story short, they never showed up that Friday even after multiple calls, the last of which resulted in another appointment on Saturday morning. When the tech showed, it took him 10 minutes to produce an estimate that ranged from $2985 to $675 with multiple warranties being the difference. After literally laughing in his face and making sure we weren't being charged weekend rates, I said go ahead since we had little choice (similar to many others and the lynch pin of the plumbing world.) Well, after he left to get something, the tech returned and spent an hour or so drilling a hole in the floor then threading an 8 foot flexible pipe from my dryer to an available fitting (i.e., didn't have to do anything complicated).
So, everything works, but that's about $25 in parts which equals $650/hour in labor after leaving my family hanging for a day without keeping an appointment. Hence the rating...
Charged over $1,000 to install a toilet and sink for my grandparents. My grandparents already owned the toilet and sink. Their techs are just salespeople. They will try to sell you on everything especially their own warranty. If you want extremely expensive service with a subpar warranty that has a lot of fine print then burton is the company for you.
Called on a Thursday afternoon when my kitchen sink stopped draining. Wasn't an emergency, so I made appointment for the following day at 3pm. Waited around all afternoon and evening. Finally got a call at 10:15pm from dispatch asking if I still wanted someone to come out. No thanks. Called their competitor who came an hour later.

Incredibly Poor Service. Hard Sell and misrepresentation to customers. Simple drain opening converted to complex six step investigation that identified only smile drain clog. Then upcharged due to service charge on top of advertised $99 Drain Opening. After work was completed and drain cover installed, then technician offered to provide included camera search of drain pipe to the street connection. The whole thing was a sham, not to mention how they mishandled the arrival time and caused me to drive back and forth to make the appointment. Unbelievable.
Then when I went to breakfast with seven friends, All of them warned me that they could have warned me. They all had terrible experiences in their history. Never again.
I had Burton install a new heat pump in my condo this May, and it has been a mess. They didn't configure it correctly, didn't include all of the needed equipment, and the install was generally sloppy (messy cabling, duct sealant slopped onto the joints). Plus, despite being a top of the line system, it can't keep the humidity below 70%. I've had to run a seperate dehumidifier to keep mold from growing.
Called to get it fixed. The first time, the tech though I was concerned with the humidifier (in June), then failed to configure the system. There are DIP switches on the control board, which he flipped randomly and then left. After, I read the manual and set it up correctly; this helped a little, but not a lot.
I called at least 3 times to have someone else come out, and they've ghosted me each time. Make that at least 4, as I've written this in the hours since they promised to call me right back. For $13k, I expected...well I expected a working AC.

I called Burton when I thought I had a recurring problem with my thermostat that they had put in with my heat pump. The tech, Eric F., got to the bottom of the problem and found it was actually the furnace, which had been put in by another company years ago. Eric hunted down the information and found it was still under manufacturer's warrant and would be honored. After presenting me with at least 5 different options, he had it fixed in short order. He was extremely polite and courteous, very efficient and thorough. He was quite pleasant, which is unusual to find anymore. Excellent experience.
Total rip off on recent AC repair!! We wanted AC cleaning and Frank tried to charge over $800 fir unnecessary add-ons, stormed off when we asked questions, manager didn't follow up either.. AVOID AT ALL COSTS !
My hot water heater gave out. I called 3 plumbers, I should have called more as Burton was the only one that could come that same day. First, they game much later than promised. By the time the plumber came it was 5pm. After dinking around, he came back with his estimate. I should state that he also included the water softener in one of the estimate options. The highest option for softener and water heater was 12,000....that's right, 12 grand! The lowest, which was to just replace the water heater was 1,800. Being a single parent and being so late I agreed, even though I knew I was being gouged. The plumber left me the paper work but I noticed that the receipt wasn't itemized. I thought this was really odd so I called the shop the next day and requested an itemized receipt. Long story short, I've sent Burton 15 emails and even filed a complaint with the BBB and they have flat out told me that's not how we do business. Do not EVER, EVER, EVER do business with this company, they are horrible.
Customer service is extremely bad. They are so rude. Unbelievable price!!! Worthless appointment. Didn't fix. I don't recommended this company.

Horrible customer service by repair person their prices are way more than other companies! They give you several options from expensive to outrageous. I would never recommend them the best part of the company are the office personnel that schedules appointments very nice and efficient. The repair personnel needs training in customer service the tech was obnoxious and arrogant
A Burton plumber, Jason, hooked up my fridge's water/ice machine. It cost me $600. Ok, it was a lot more than I expected. I kind of feel that the price was ridiculous, but I paid it. It seems like the work was done correctly, but it was just completed yesterday. On his way out, Jason stuck a Burton lawn advertisement sign in my yard. He didn't mention he was going to do this, let alone ask me. I saw it a couple hours after he left. Who does that? We called Burton up and told them they need to remove it today. It hasn't been removed. I'm writing this ad to help with their advertisement a little further.
Absolutely amazing! Trent my technician went beyond what he had to do. Because of Trent I would highly recommend Burton. He was extremely helpful and knowledgeable.
Do NOT use !! Big Sales company that will charge you wayyyyy over compared to others. Definitely wished I had checked reviews before calling or someone would have warmed us.
I would give Burton 5 stars because Burton has always been good to us BUT They have a new system with appointments where they text you and if you don't answer the text within a few minutes, they move onto the next customer. That really makes me angry because I had someone here for my appointment while I went to pick my kids up from school and they texted while I was driving and because I didn't respond they skipped the appointment I had put in place 2 months prior. Now they say they have scheduled me for August. What??? For an AC check? It's nearly the end of summer! We've had a lot of work done by Burton and they do an excellent job but I'm really upset by this new appointment system. If this keeps up we will have to choose another company.
Last May Burton scoped & repaired our lateral line for $3,200 which included a free scoping one year later as well as a free Heating & Cooling inspection. So, this May I took advantage, but upon arrival to my home the technician would not inspect the furnace saying, It's not the season. The Cooling checked out fine. Next, I made the appt for the free scope and added to this call a replacement of my sprinkler shut off valve. I made the appt 2 wks in advance for 9am. A tech arrived at 5pm and quoted $988.51 for a top of the line valve replacement with 5 yr warranty! The least expensive option was $592. 27. He reassured me that I would get a 15% discount. I was so flabbergasted that I asked for a copy of the quote as proof to all I told. He refused. We declined to have the lateral line scoped, nor did we have our $36 sprinkler valve replaced.

I used burton for some electrical work and was given a free ac inspection. They came out inspected it and told me it was a great unit and only 6 years old. They told me I should have it cleaned and had them clean it. 2 days later my AC went out and they told me I'd have to have it completely replaced. They said this was my fault, even though a leak in the refrigerate line and the AC unit overheated. They told me it would be thousands of dollars and wasn't properly inspected.. this company is a complete joke, should have listened when my friends said they were crooks. Ill never do business with them again.
Mark Bostic came to service a broken valve at a moments notice. He explained the repair and costs. He reviewed the rest of our pluming in the house and advised us on what is needed and what to expect. Before he started, he shoveled our drive and walk to prevent snow from being tracked into the house. He is a professional and we are very satisfied with the job he did.
I scheduled my A/C to be serviced and waited 3 weeks. The day of the service they called and said they had an emergency and had to reschedule. They said it would be 6 weeks from today. I would strongly recommend not using Burton!!!

Guy that did the work was good. Did a very nice job on the installation.
My biggest regret was I way overpaid for a water heater. 3K. Nuff said. Stay away from these guys. Next time I can live with a cold shower for a few days while I shop around!
Complete Rip Off - Avoid this business! We recently had an issue with a water heater pilot light not staying lit. The service tech came out to our house and looked at it for 5 minutes ($50 service call) and then told us it would be $600 to repair it or we could buy a new one for $1500 - which he recommended because it didn't make sense to dump money into it (comparing it to his 1980 ford pinto).
The water heater is 4 years old and still under manufacturer warranty so after Burton left I called the manufacturer and they emailed me instructions on cleaning the air intake area by the pilot light and after spending 10 minutes doing that it fired up fine and is running like new.
I shared this with some folks at my office and 2 other people had similar issues with Burton trying to up-sell unnecessary services and parts.

The tech was great. Very nice and showed me everything before and after. It would be 5 stars but asked about having a toilet put back in that we had taken off they wanted the absolute asinine amount of $370 for about 10 minutes worth of work. Set wax ring and set toilet on top. Don't believe they use gold plated wax rings or anything

Awful customer service. I called yesterday for an estimate on a repair and Burton said they would call between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. I was on edge all afternoon anticipating a call and never received one. That is, until 8:30 p.m. when Burton called and said they couldn't be there that day after all. Mind you, I waited by my phone for 8.5 hours to no avail. Gee, thanks.
Today, Burton said they could have someone in the morning. A technician called at 11 a.m. and said they don't really do work on dishwashers and it wouldn't be worth it for him to come out and take a look. This is after the receptionist checked with a technician yesterday and confirmed they could, in fact, work on dishwashers and take a look to try and diagnose the issue.
I thought that when the plumbing's hurtin, just call Burton, we will make it right. Guess not.
Thanks for nothing, Burton.

We purchased a VERY expensive heat pump/furnace system from Burtons almost 2 years ago.
The issue isn't with the system, its with the service. We have called them at least 6 times in that 10 or so months and EVERY time they have issues with keeping the appointments. They always have the excuse that the appointments before ours went longer than anticipated. That excuse is getting laughable. I have taken 2 vacation days off and waited all day on a Saturday just to have them call late in the afternoon to tell me they have to reschedule. And on one occasion they sent out a tech that admitted he had no knowledge of how our system works. Resulting in waiting even longer. I believe that the problem is in scheduling! Once the techs do get here they are knowledgable for the most part. With the issues with scheduling I would be hard pressed to recommend Burtons to anyone.

Decided to try the $99 plugged drain fix. Figured for the price it was worth a try. Well, I should have known better. The plumber got out of the big over-sized van with shinny shoes and white shirt, and dress pants, with a big notebook. It didn't look like he was ready to work on anything but my bank account. Sure enough, after showing him but drain he said that the pipe was to old and needed more than just snaked-out. He went out to his van and came back with his suggestions. Simple fix would be anywhere from $1500 to $25,000 for complete main replacement.
If a company is just using the $99 drain fix just as a door opener and no fix that day, many families will be going without the use of plumbing until they call someone reliable to fix the problem.

The bill they gave breaks down to $300 per hour for a standard, non-emergency call. Do NOT call them for small jobs, you will pay out the nose. Spoke to the service manager and he didn't care that we got ripped off, he was just glad to have his money and would not do anything to adjust the invoice. Guess I'll have to join the ranks of people complaining to the BBB.

DO NOT CALL or USE THEM!!! I now feel silly saying that because looking at Yelp reviews i should of never called in the first place with all the 1 star's. I mainly called them because kudos to them they sent me a marketing flyer with a discount coupon (one that is restricted by almost all services FYI). Also, they had quick openings to come look at my furnace. I was EXTREMELY clear that i need my blower motor cleaned because Service One was just at the home for a routine inspection and informed me of so. They could or would not give me any prices not even a range, i did not care how big of a range either just give me an idea but telling me the tech must arrive and then price. I booked anyway and after hearing other quotes from different places i was not too worried on pricing. The tech Eric F. was very thorough but almost too much because after his 2.5 hours at the house my blower motor still was not cleaned, i asked the price he stated $400 and i was shocked because of the simple task of doing so. He told me and i quote We are a box/big company, so all prices are flat WAIT?! WHAT?! flat prices but no one could give me an idea over the phone???
If that was not the worst news, Eric also made it clear i need a new furnace or it will either stop working tomorrow or everyone in the household could die from CO...now that is kind of odd and not that i do not trust his opinion but Service One and Nanfito Heating & Cooling have both inspected the homes furnace system in its entirety most recently due to new ownership. Neither had any negatives on the system. So just makes you wonder if Eric works on commission and was taking advantage of an old unit.
So in conclusion, i donated $50 and hours of time away from work to no solution when i was absolutely clear of what i needed done today. Spread the word.

About 1 year ago I contacted Burton for a simple repack of an outdoor faucet. I setup an appointment, left work, and was here before the scheduled time. The tech arrived and quoted me a price of approximately $250, I said I would repack it myself and the tech said he would call to see if he could do it for less money. He was on the phone for a bit and then said could do it for $150. I told him to go ahead with the job. He said he would fill out the paper work for and have me sign it, then take care of the problem. He wrote, wrote and wrote some more and I was wandering if I was buying a house. Finally he put the quote in front of me and started to try and sell me on household water system upgrades. He wasted an hour and some before he got to the original problem. He finally completed the faucet repair, I paid and swore I would never have any dealings with a company that would conduct business this way. I felt like I was in the presence of some slick-Willy snake-oil hustler that was selling fear and worst case scenarios. Plus I wasted over an hour of work to listen to a sales pitch. I have sat on this for a year and it needs to be addressed.
I had my a/c repaired. The cost of this was 3xs the industry standard. I understood this company to be reputable. The first question I was asked was, What do you expect from today's service call. Of course I wanted the a/c to work. This seemed like an obvious response, but was met with some resistance. This was preceded by many questions that had little relevance to the repair. The repair was fast, (only took about 5 min, and I have since discovered a $30.00 part was installed.) I was offered a range of options ranging in price from $7,590 to $289, ultimately I was charged $355.00. I realized that this was an easy fix, and should have called someone else, but he was here. This was my fault, but I feel like this company preys on the customers since often repairs of this nature are vital. While the service tech was friendly, and efficient, I did not appreciate the hard sell. When I asked reasonable questions about the repair, I could not get any answers since I choose the option to simply repair my unit. I needed to pay additional in order to get any real information. This business is deceitful, and unprofessional. If you avoid telemarketers, (and who doesn't) you will want to avoid Burtons!
If you're not hurt'n, you will be after calling Burton! These guys are over-priced (except their initial service check-up to get them in), will try to sell you what you don't need and are dishonest (yes, I said dishonest). I don't want to write a 2,000 word dissertation on my experiences with them, but I will try and summarize my most recent (and last) experience with them. Last year, we decide to try Burton for routine check-up/cleaning of our AC/furnace (a good price). The technician spent a lot of time looking at our furnace (last Oct) and said our 12 yr old furnace had multiple parts that were on the verge of failure. He asked me if I was a gambling man and recommended replacing the furnace before winter. We opted not to, since it was working just fine. In July, we had them out to check our AC (part of the 1 yr service plan we had signed up for - our AC was working perfectly). I was out of town and he wrote up a work sheet for my wife that said our AC was leaking freon, the fan motor and blower were bad, etc.. Not only that, he decided he should look at our furnace (he was only out to the house to check the A/C). On the worksheet he wrote, heat exchanger in furnace cracked and gave an estimate to fix everything for $5,800! I felt they were full of B.S. (they, of course put together a package of options for a new furnace and A/C and gave it to my wife. They listed 6 options with the Rolls Royce (yes they called it that) option coming in at $18,000 - and that's for a 80K BTU furnace! Unbelievable! But here is where they really discredit themselves: I had two other HVAC companies out to inspect the furnace (we didn't tell them what Burton had said). Guess what - there is no crack in the heat exchanger and everything is working just fine. I hope they will be out of business before they take more unsuspecting customers to the cleaners. I plan to file a complaint against them with the BBB. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!
Amazing customer service from beginning to end. I called and left a message at 2 other plumbing places and never received a call back. I called Burton and left a message and less than 5 min later received a call back! The lady I spoke with on the phone was so sweet and professional. There was a technician at my house later that afternoon. He did a fantastic job and didn't leave any mess. Highly highly recommend Burton!!!
Worst company I've ever dealt with! I called them to snake my sewer line as my basement drain was backing up before leaving town. My wife was told by the plumber it was our up stairs kitchen sink that was the cause. He snaked it and was in and out within 5 mins. If anyone knows anything about plumbing the cause of the basement drain backing up is not a bogus Kitchen sink clog. I get home two weeks later to our basement drain continuing to backup and they will not return my call. I would not recommend this company to anyone, they will take advantage of people that do not have an understanding of basic plumbing.
We had some major plumbing issues a few years ago (the horrible summer of 2020!) and got the service contract to receive a discount. Last week for our regular maintenance service visit, they tried to tell us that the furnace and AC needed a minimum of 4K in repairs and probably just needed to be replaced altogether. The units we have are only 11-12 years old and we've always been good with maintenance. Decided to get a second opinion from another company and while there were a few minor things that definitely needed to be cleaned/replaced/fixed, they couldn't find much wrong with the units. AND it cost under $500. Glad I got a second opinion -- wasn't planning to sell a kidney to stay cool this summer!! We canceled our service contract and are done with them. Don't recommend.
Needed urgent HVAC help and they were available! Flexible with my schedule. Very pleased with the price and the kind tech.
Needed our gas stove unhooked for floors done, and hooked back up, as our flooring workers required it contracted out. They were unable to give me any idea of pricing ahead of time. I was told it would be a $60 diagnostic fee for someone to come out and they would have no idea of the charge for that until they were here.
I tried to give them the opportunity to make up for their misleading pricing games from last time....to no avail. I won't try them again.
I called for service on a furnace , tech came out and quoted us 900.00 for heater pack and that the part was not available for 45 days but, they could get a new complete unit in about 1- 2 days and would cost north of 6,000.00.
Called Fred's heating and they came out an fixed the unit with a entirely different part for 149.00.
Price gouging is exactly what I experienced with Burton, just like the others that have reviewed on here. I had a main line blocked with tree roots and Burton was the first company I could get to come out. They quoted me a price of over $500 to pull the basement toilet, snake the line, and re-install the toilet. I was in a bind and agreed even though the price was steep. It took a total of about 20-30 minutes of work, for over $500, seemed outrageous to me. I did some more calling around after the fact to get other plumbers' pricing and found prices that ranged around $70-75 per hour with a one hour minimum for coming out, plus a separate fee for removing/reinstalling the toilet, and a service call charge, for a total of around $150 with most other plumbers. Buyer beware, Burton is a fine company to deal with...if you like paying 3 times what you should!
Rick Wisecup from Burton has serviced our furnace the past two years. He is professional, knowledgable, courteous, and a great communicator. We have been very happy with Burton and feel their pricing is competitive in regards to AC & Heating. Thanks Rick for doing a great job!

I bought a new central air unit from them in September 2015. I've had to call twice since then to have the unit worked on. It froze up on Thursday June 2, 2016. We called for service and were told they would get to us Saturday. They just called to say they don't know when they're going to get to us. The worst service ever.

Can I give 0 stars? This is the second time we've had Burton out for an estimate. First was a leaky shower drain which they quoted us $600 to fix that only required some silicone caulk. Yesterday we had them come out for a noisy furnace blower and the cheapest fix they offered was $675 but they recommended the $1500 fix for the housing that supposedly needed replacement. We got rid of them pretty quickly and had someone else (non affiliated) come out who does side jobs. He fixed the issue for less than half the cheapest estimate and told us there was nothing wrong with the housing. We won't give them a third chance! We have a company credit card that we were wanting to use for the repair but we couldn't justify the added expense and would rather scrape our pennies together for awhile.
If you want your wallet to be hurt'n, just call Burton!
After my water heater wasn't working and I called a technician, the individual from Burton told me I needed a new water heater. Skeptical of the $3,500 quote (or $6,100 for tankless), I got another opinion.
All my heater needs was a new thermal couple. A $20 part. Labor. Tax. $115 fix later from a plumber who wasn't out to make my wallet hurt.
DO NOT USE BURTON.

I called 30 hours ago for a plumbing problem and was asked if I could wait until this afternoon. I agreed and was given a window of 12-4 PM. It's 7 pm and not only have they not come, I just canceled since they could not even estimate at what time they might be here. The excuse was that they were short staffed. Well, they should have told me that yesterday or at 3 PM today when I called to check. TERRIBLE customer service. Will not be calling this company again, EVER!
We just moved into our first home, and learned that our home inspector neglected to check our AC unit at all. When it wasn't working, we had a technician from another company come check the unit, and it was super clogged and had lots of mold. We got quotes from three different companies, and all were very similar. The reason we chose Burton is because the Comfort Advisor, Ken, who came to give us a quote immediately put us at ease! He explained everything to us, set us up with a free two year VIP membership so we can keep our new unit serviced, and he worked with his boss to find us the best price he could. The very next day, we got our new AC unit. The techs who installed it thoroughly explained each aspect of the new unit. I can't recommend the customer service enough! Within minutes of the new unit being turned on, our house felt the best it has since we moved in!
Called in for a simple project to replace the hot and cold water valves to a washing machine. Keep in mind these were EXISTING. Service tech got to the house and gave me the book quote to replace two valves for $900. Considering the parts are about $50 and the average plumbing labor rate is $60/hr, I told him what a joke that was. Saying he was just quoting the book price and that was all he could do, I told him to call his manager to try again or go pound sand. After calling me back, he said he could do it for $475, an amazing 50% reduction, but still outrageous for the scope of work. Of course he called me back 47 minutes later and said the work was done. I will never call this company again, their pricing is extraordinarily high. There are much better options for your wallet in Omaha. Save some significant money and look elsewhere.

We called Burton on a Saturday evening for emergency service. They said someone would be out early Sunday afternoon. At 4 p.m. we called again and they said they were running behind, but someone would call and still be out that day. No one called or came. After 36 hours we called again. No apologies. They said they'd call back with an arrival time for today. Almost 4 hours later and they still haven't called. Direct Comfort was called, came out within 20 minutes and fixed the issue within 2 hours. Never calling Burton again.

Shock and awe the Burton Plumbing written estimate $520 to replace my hose spicket on the front of my house I can't believe they could do that to people as a business and multiple property owner I know this must be some mistake as I've had these replaced before for less than $150 parts and labor save your money don't call Burton get a reputable plumber to come fix your problems I see why they have financing options on their website and what if you had a real emergency that needed immedia9te service and you were elderly you would be very likely to fall victim to this predatory practice
sure the 99 dollar special for any drain any time gets you there, then of course there is the 3 level of plans they can do ranging from the 99- to well over 3000. told them i did not want the upsale, and he told me they were required to read it. i told him my back was out so just the 99 special was fine. well that was all good and well, and then i get the bill for 149, as that had to cover the cost of driving the mercedes cargo van and park it in your driveway. they are lucky they even had a truck to go to in my neighborhood, as crime is not hight here, but im sure riding in the cargo fan playing with the heating and plumbing tools would be fun to play with and fling out the window.. such a worthless co in my opinion.....

Many calls from them to reschedule our appt..... paid way more then it ended up we had to... we had a leak in the ceiling in a downstairs bathroom, James at Burton told us we needed to replace the shower in the upstairs bathroom. That was causing the leak. Again after being rescheduled 3 times this time... they did a whole new tub and shower install. FInally after that was installed.... not even a day later... the ceiling in the downstairs bathroom still leaked!.. Called Burton again.... and yes a couple more times of being rescheduled until they came back out. The real problem was there was a leaky pipe behind the toilet in the upstairs bathroom that was causing the leak!.. We had a new tub/shower installed for nothing!.. Not to mention they damaged the drywall in the room next to the upstairs bathroom when either taking out the old tub or when they installed the new one... It took me a long time to get a call back from the service manager to get some answers, it took months to get a refund on the service warranty we paid for because there was no way we would ever use them again. I don' like saying bad things about anyone... but I just want people to be aware of our situation in hopes it could prevent it from not happening to someone else.

Craig with Burton did a great job fixing a broken air pump on my air conditioner and helped trouble shoot my in-line humidifier which I suspected was not working last winter. He very patiently explained various parts and gave me instructions so that I can run checks on my own to make sure everything is functioning properly. Craig was recommended by a friend of mine who has several properties in town and has been very happy with his service. I thought Burton was very cost competitive with other service companies in town.

Called to get someone out to look at a gas leak and got a 24 hour window, they never came and then randomly showed up 2 days later. Then I got charged 240 dollars for 10 mins of work where nothing was even fixed. I would avoid them.

Way to expensive! Find someone else. Had Burton out to fix a leaking pipe. It was dripping into the basement where there was a drop ceiling. so easy access to see what pipe it was coming from. Misjudged where the pipe came though the floor by about 18. So have two large hole to repair. Turned out it was nail hole from floor board that worked its way through the pipe. But a $600 repair bill to replace a small section of copper pipe seem about twice what it should be. Yes, they did try to sell a service plan at the end. Will never have Burton back again!
Had a main sewer line clogged. Could go in my crawl space so they had to go from the roof vent. Charged me $1300 for 45m worth of work. Then made me wait for the main line to be inspected with a camera afterwards. Tried to convince me to spend 6-15k on a main line repair. Gave me my options. I said I'd have to let them know if I was going to do anything further. To my surprise they opened 2 bank accounts in my name. One I agreed to. The second one for over $10000 credit was opened without my approval. The inspector as he left said if he didn't hear from me, then they would just go ahead and start the work. THATS A BIG RED FLAG. So now here I have 2 bank accounts opened, hurt my credit and now have to deal with having to cancel accounts and call and make sure they weren't going to randomly show up and start digging up my front yard. They eve went as far as having my yard sprayed for lines. I never once said I'd do any further work. I was a asked if I was going to do work what plan would I chose. I said if I were to do anything it would be probably the cheapest and apparently they took a hypothetical question and assumed it was a real answer. Would not recommend after this experience. I might add this was my second time using them. Because my first experience wasn't bad.
I asked for a quote to get my electrical system up to code. Burton quoted me 7,396.98 without an itemized justification for the charges. Insurance refused to pay that much, so I asked another local electrician company for a quote. That company quoted the same job for 2,558.59, and they gave me an itemized list of expenditures. A 4,838.39 dollar difference.
After having an appointment for 2 months for a cleaning, they called today, the day of the cleaning, to say they have to reschedule for another month. I get that the heat puts them behind, but when I question the fact that we have been scheduled for two months, I was asked rudely if my a/c was working. So again, I get that the heat puts them behind, but 2 months, now 3 months just tells me they are understaffed or over booked. I was informed by their employee that basically everyone is backed up and if we think we can find better service in Omaha, go ahead. I guess challenge is accepted. Shouldn't be to hard to find better customer service.
Our AC wasn't working. Jeremy came out and was fantastic about explaining what needed to be done and what our options were. We opted for the most expensive option because we were given a 30 money back guarantee to try the air purifier for my husband's allergies. After two weeks it just wasn't helping, so I contacted Burton to have it removed. I sent numerous emails that have been ignored and now, after nearly a month, the air purifier has been removed, and I still can't get my money back. I do not want a credit with a company who provides such terrible service. The tech was outstanding, but this office staff has ignored most of my emails, offered no explanation for why they haven't responded and have offered no apologies. Rather than insulting me with a credit with your company, I'd like my money back. I hate that you will be paid for this job like you gave me outstanding service because the way Burton has been treated, they don't deserve any of the $4500 of mine that they have.
The Plumber spent more time writing up the upsale items and prices (plugged drain)
than time he spent trying to clear the blockage - which he didn't - completely unimpressed, and I've used them before but probably never again!
They ran my check as an ach transaction. It cleared my bank. Then they proceeded to try to run my check 3 more times, and tried telling me I didn't pay.
I tried to get in contact with Burton several times regarding their mistake. Nobody bothered to return my call. Fast forward about a month the technician called me to tell me i owe them.
My check was returned 3 more times, because I wasn't prepared to pay for the service 3 more times.
I showed them my bank statement showing it had already been cleared and where they tried to run it through after I already paid. They could not admit fault, and the gentleman I spoke with acted as if he was doing me a favor by telling me he was willing to let it go, and he wouldn't further pursue he had a very condescending tone he used with me.
This man also agreed to send a statement showing I was wiped clean (even though services have been paid) I have yet to receive that as well.
I do not recommend Burton.

They advertise on a billboard $99 to open a drain. Very deceptive advertising, it ends up costing twice that much, and it was not at all complicated. I would never think of using them again.

If you want to waist hundreds and quite possibly thousands of dollars for really simple fixes then go ahead and call them. $650 to replace a pipe and pea trap in the sink. Really? Let's not mention that the first option for repair was to re-pipe everything for $4,600 which there was nothing wrong with the current drain system. Unbelievable. I immediately fired them paid the $60 door fee. The one pipe which costs about $20 and pea trap is about another $40. So for the maximum total of $80 of parts they wanted to charge $550 in labor for two hours of work. Some people make over $250 an hour, and they are called neurosurgeons.
I am a repeated Burton customer and have paid them thousands of dollars for plumbing and installing a new furnace and air conditioner. My most recent experience with Burton December 16, 2016 means I will never call them again, and I will tell anyone I know not to use them. I had a broken pipe leaking in my basement to my kitchen and unable to run water in my kitchen. I was told by Burton plumber Mark I would need to tear out my entire kitchen, cupboards and all, my basement wall and go through my roof to make repairs, he said with gutting and remodeling everything plus repairs, probably $20,000. He wanted to start immediately. I declined, and told him to leave, I'm getting other opinions. Eyman Plumbing replaced my pipe (and also replaced my large main water pipe coming into my house through my basement, a pipe Burton never even looked at). I paid Eyman $600, my kitchen is intact, and I have all new main pipes going from outside and through my kitchen and basement. It disgusts me that I've been a repeated loyal customer of Burton and they blatantly tried to take advantage of me.

Horrible!! Not best of Omaha more like WORST of Omaha. My mother recently had Burton come out and clean her pipes. If you are worried about someone taking advantage of older people this company did just that! First the gentleman that came out was super rude to my mother, second he was there to clean the main drain, he did not do that. He told her that there was blockage that he could not get to and then left. She called again and a second person came out and he snaked the drain and told her that he found mud which meant that she had a fault in her pipes. She then called another plumbing company, needless to say they took care of the original clog since the plumbers working for Burton apparently could not take care of the problem. Bottom line I DO NOT TRUST any of the people working for Burton. Just giving you a firm warning HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE AND DIDN'T DO THE WORK!

I wish I could have these guys over for a beer-- they are absolute life savers. I called Burton on Tuesday needing extensive electrical work done in my house. Allan came out to the house two days later (Thursday), and he spent several hours taking notes and videos to send to his worker guys. When scheduling the actual work, I explained that I'm a ridiculously busy medical student, and I have two exams and my brother's wedding next week. My only real free time was today, Saturday, only two days after he was at the house. He got two of his workers, Alex and Shawn, to come out to the house this weekend to get the ENTIRE thing done. They knew exactly what they were doing, and they patiently answered all of my nit-picky questions (and man did I have a lot of questions). Shawn and Alex placed three new dedicated outlets, 3 new non-dedicated outlets, fixed two outlets that weren't working, re-wired a bunch of stuff between floors, and ran everything nicely in conduit (see they even taught me new words today!). They did such a good job-- I'm absolutely calling them back after my yard gets trenched to have them put power in my shed and get me some outdoor outlets. 11/10 experience.

Their $99 any drain anytime TV ad is miss leading advertising at best.
When I called to make the appointment I said $99 and she said plus a $40 trip fee. OK. She was up front about the dispatch fee
The plumber gets on site and after evaluating the situation says he will go write up my options of what we can do and what it's gonna cost. I said Its gonna cost me $99 because that's what the woman at the office said it would be when I called. While he was out in his truck I call their office and s different woman at the office said well you know there might be a $99 option and danced around how their advertising was misleading that they would do any drain for $99.
The plumber came back in and I asked for my options and he said $99. So the office must have called him. I feel bad for the guy because I know he's just trying to make a buck playing his company's game.
They should be a little more honest in their advertising and say any drain STARTING at $99.
The plumber gets a 5 out of 5 rating. Patrick at Burton plumbing is a respectable guy and did a good job of snaking the drain.
The company gets 3 stars and that's being generous because of their questionable advertising.
Overall because the plumber did an outstanding job I'll give them a 4 star average.
RUN! Seriously! Do not use them!!They are awful! I think the reviews on google must be employees, friends or are incentivized. The one encounter I had with an electrician was a complete waste of time - he couldn't figure out what ran where and spent at least 45 minutes turning the light switches on and off, running back and forth, he couldn't answer the most basic questions and never provided me the estimate for upgrading my outlets to gfi as promised. Being able to coordinate with all these different people during a work day is almost impossible for me, they give you a large window of time (won't book an actual time) and then promise to call when they're on the way, could be 5 minutes could be 50... but most importantly they can't work past 5 pm, so after several failed attempts to have my plumbing drain and AC inspected, I tried to cancel my services. They're threatening to bill me almost 300$ for that electrical visit - the one that didn't yield so much as a single answer to a question OR an estimate for reference! I plan to file a complaint with the BBB, CA and contact my bank back home to stop withdrawal, as well as advice all other airmen new to the area to avoid burton. Those are some highly unethical business practices which have no chance of being upheld in a small claims court. So yeah, just make mention of terminating your membership and watch the claws come out.
In the recent months, I have become a frequent flyer with Burton. About 18 months ago we had to have the HVAC system replaced. Unlike fine wine, those sorts of things don't get better with age. We bit the bullet and had it replaced to the tune of $7k and we pay a monthly fee for the service agreement/contract. Been every happy with the service, they call us twice a year to schedule a no cost inspection to the system.
Let me tell you my troubles as of late. We live in a condo complex, every time the upstairs person lets the water out of her sink, it backs up into ours. Ugh, I couldn't take it anymore so I called Burton and out they came. Snaked the lines which hadn't been done since God was in short pants. The complex was built in the 1920s and there doesn't seem to have been any deep core cleaning or maintenance done in a while. So much so that while the Burton guy (sorry I forgot his name) was there, we asked for a quote to replace the lead pipes in the bathroom and to fix the toilet. Bruce comes out a few days later to get a better look at everything to generate a proper quote. Worst fears confirmed. 5k. I can't I just can't but they can replace the toilet for a very reasonable cost and get it done in the next day or two. Yay!
Cut to yesterday morning. My Father in Law who lives in the condo across the hall calls at 6am says his heater has stopped working. ~facepalm~ Who you gunna call? Burton to the rescue! We were able to get a same day appointment right before all of Omaha gets plunged into sub zero temps. Mind you, my Father in law is 83 and lives alone. There is no way he can be with out heat. Not all superheroes wear capes. Chris came out and didn't try to sell us a new system (We need one, I know). He gave us a fair and reasonable assessment of the situation and after the Dispatch fee, new ignition glow stick thingy and a cleaning, I felt it was money well spent.
Chris may have been following standard procedure when he stood in the living room and gave us a carbon monoxide reading after 10 minutes to make sure it wasn't hazardous but it felt like he cared and wasn't going to leave us in an unsafe situation with a broken heater.
This is why I will be a Burton girl. Quality of service and what I feel is a reasonable price. (make no mistake, I can haggle and bargain shop with the best of them)
Prompt reliable professional service. Excellent communication from the office staff, met all expectations, wasn't pressured to buy any service plans or extras unrelated to the current service call. I've used them twice in the last 20 years and they have been some of the best to work with. For those who whine about plumbing service fees, I have two realities for you. 1. You pay for what you get. You want cheap? You'll get cheap. 2. Plumbers are expensive. It's a fact of life. Like doctors and lawyers. If we could do the work ourselves, we would. We can't so we call plumbers. Burton is not the only plumber I recommend, but it is in the top 3 in this area.
I signed up for the VIP program because I liked the notion of a cost estimate before they worked on any issues. What they DON'T tell you is that they charge a huge dispatch fee even if you cannot afford the price of the repair. Even for VIP! The technician or main office never offered remediation for my pricing concerns and I wound up paying over $200 for a leaky outdoor tap (it needed a new washer). (The technician also tracked in outdoor debris into my home)
They advertise that they're up-front about their pricing, but I do not find this to be fact. I will not be renewing my VIP membership after it runs out next spring.
Not a happy customer.
Very inefficient. Took off 2 days of work because the company requested me to be home for a technician to do the work. They didn't show the first day, asked me to reschedule. Today is the second day, and still waiting for a technician. They told me he'd be here in twenty minutes, but it's been 3 hours. About to call them back and go with someone else who wants my business.
We have used Burton to do annual checkups on our heat and a.c.. We had several issues with our furnace last year. After they repaired a third part on it, I asked the tech if we should be looking at a new system. He said no, that the system was fine after the repairs. Now with our first tune up this year the tech says we need 2 more new parts at 2200, and most likely a new system. The tech says he wished the prior techs had done a thorough job of inspecting our system when they came out. I thought that's what we trusted Burton to do. I feel like these guys are trying to take us to the cleaners. We will be contacting a new heating contractor to check out our equipment who won't try to price gouge us every time they come out. Very disappointing, especially as a new resident in Omaha who put their trust in this company. I give them 2 stars because they did come out and get our system going when we were without heat a couple of times last year.

They are extremely over priced, do not provide an itemized statement, and are difficult to get honest answers from. I would suggest calling a different company for honesty and fair pricing. They took advantage of my elderly parents and charged them double what it should have been for a routine ball valve replacement....and they told them they got a deal because they are on a contract service agreement.

Beware! This company will rip you off. My kitchen sink was clogged, and despite paying a $9.95 monthly fee to be on their service contract, they could not send anyone to my home until the next day. When the guy arrived, he looked at the kitchen sink, then wanted to see the laundry room and bath close by. He went to the basement, then out to his truck for half an hour. Came back in with a folded up estimate. We sat down and he tried to sell me one of 6 solutions.
1. Premium Plus Solution: $3,210.81
2. Premium Solution: $1,584.89
3. Standard Solution: $$1,075.76
4. Basic Solution: $628.45
5. Economy Plus Solution: $451.22
6. Economy Solution: $148.20
I told him to leave. I didn't want a Burton solution. I then called 'Major Drain'. Someone came out within an hour, snaked my drain, and charged me $139.10
I highly recommend Major Drain!
I canceled my contract with Burton.

If I could give these guys 0 stars, I would. Not only did they make us pay $400 to fix something, they called back the next day to say the missed diagnosed the problem and it'll now be $800. WHAT?! Aren't you trained to identify the correct problem before you steal the money out of our pockets? So now we are out $400 and an unfixed unit.

Please do not use this company. About a year ago, my air conditioning unit broke down and a Burton technician repaired it. This year, it broke down again. Another Burton technician came out and he explained that the unit had been incorrectly repaired by the previous technician...for a whole year. While Burton did not charge me for the second repair, my unit was incorrectly sealed for an entire year.
I wanted my money back from the original repair, which was done incorrectly and it's taken Burton two months to get back with me. I've called and left countless messages for their service manager, who seems incapable of returning a phone call.
Bottom line: there are a lot of great companies who will do a proper job and who will have the decency to communicate with you if you should have any issues. Burton is not one of them.
If I could rate Burton a ZERO Star it would be appropriate. I have done business with them for 30 years and spent over 100,000 in plumbing, HVAC, and sewer services. The gas company red tagged my house last week due to no venting on my water heaters. Which means carbon monoxide is leaking into the house, and the top of my water heaters are burn't from over heating. Today Burton told me they wouldn't stand behind their labor and they told me to call someone else to work on my water heaters. They don't have resources to fix anything.
Find yourself a new plumber, but don't let it be Burton. Move forward with people who have integrity.

I called Burton to fix a bathroom faucet - the plug did not work and to replace a ballcock in the toilet. The plumber arrived and began to chat - a lot. After about 15 or 20 minutes he finally got around to asking what I called about. Now this information was given extensively over the phone but apparently not passed on to him. I showed him the two bathrooms with their respective issues. About 15 minutes later, he came downstairs to present options. He said What if I told you I could replace the waste disposal units (toilets) in each bathroom, replace the shutoff valves and fix the faucet for $8000? Of course, I thought that amount to be ridiculous. There were a few other things like 2 year warranty but still the $8000 was ridiculous. Then he said he was just kidding and the amount would be $6500. I still thought he was kidding. But he wasn't. The second option was around $4000, then $2000. The final amount was to fix the 2 things I called about and that was for $441 plus $49. Of course when I saw the $441 I said I'd want that option. I signed and then he fixed the two items which took him about 15 minutes. Later I realized I'd been totally taken. A ballcock costs about $20 and the plug part of the faucet costs less then $10. I called the office to complain but the woman who answered did not want to hear about it. The hustle to upgrade the service was just part of their deal. She said I'd signed so that was that.
The other bothersome thing was that he was doing an analysis of all the plumbing in the two bathrooms. I'd never asked for that. He had to remove personal items from various places to get to what he wanted to look at so he could tell me how awful everything was. He didn't ask if that would be ok, he just did it. That felt really creepy.
Horrible company tried to rip me off 13000 dollars! Called them because my ac was putting out room temp air and my house was around 100 degrees inside called them they told me my ac unit was shot and furnace was shot they out are not even 10 years old they told me they could try and put a band aid on it for 1200 and couldn't guarantee that would make my air cool they also tried to scare me and my wife into thinking our house could blow up if we didn't get our ac replaced we almost caved but decided to call 2 other companies to get a second and third opinion come to find out it was just a 150 dollar capacitor thank god we called another company and the guy that came out and fixed our issue for a total of 245 with instal compared to 13000 burton tried to rip us off he also told us he use to work for burton and they are trained to lie to try and get people to replace units instead of fixing them so he quit because he couldn't work for people like that horrible that this company is still in business Please anyone reading this please avoid them at all cost they are scam artist
Burton was contracted out to install a furnace in the home I eventually purchased. According to the technician, they were only tasked to install the furnace and connect the pipes to the existing infrastructure which yeah that's fine most of the time... except in my case the exhaust vent ended in my attic so for a year I've been living in a home that's basically had the equivalent of a car running in it. I only noticed what was going on because my wife noticed some signs of water damage coming from the attic which prompted me to climb up there. It seems like a really simple situation that could have been avoided if the original installer just cared enough to QC their work.
If you are here then you probably don't know the ins and outs of these systems like me which is why I'd recommend going to a different company that cares about the quality of their work.

They snaked my drain a couple weeks ago and did not get it done properly. 15 minutes for $150 and will not come back to complete the job unless I pay again. Pretty poor customer service and really disappointing. I have to hire another plumber to complete their job. Do yourself a favor and hire someone else the first time.
Called at least 5 other companies and independent contractors who gave me the run around on prices, preached the what ifs and couldn't schedule me professionally. Not with Burton.
On the day of my service, I received a courtesy call letting me know that someone will be out. I received another call 2 hours later that my tech would be Bart. Bart called when he was about 20 minutes away, surveyed the problem (clogged basement drain), and wrote out and explained 4-5 different pricing options for service. He didn't push me to spend more, even agreeing to start with the typical snaking of the drain followed up with a camera (Shawn, another tech came to assist--both awesome guys!) to inspect the pipes. All this with their $99 drain special (yes, there is a call out service fee of $36, but every other company I spoke with came in at that price or above and wouldn't have brought a camera for inspection!).
VERY pleased with the professional, personal and friendly service.
I had a drain back up last week. Burton came out and assessed the situation without taking the top off of the sump pump area. Immediately claimed the pump needed replaced. Gave a bid for 5011$ for a pump replacement with a pump that costs 380$ on line. So yeah. The per hour charge was outrageous. I waited until Monday to have my regular plumber from Big Burge come out. He removed the cover and said the ball cock was stuck and it was up and running in 5 mins. I have used Burton in the past and people always tell me they are crooks. I believe it now as this was so blatantly obvious. So I asked some other people in the industry and evidently the plumbers from Burton get commission pay so there is no limit to what they will charge. Be aware.
If you're plumbin' is hurtin'- DON'T call Burton! We had a backup in our main drain, they came and unclogged it on Saturday. The tech recommended to have a camera go down to see what is happening. The guy came yesterday (Thursday), saw a blockage further down, so he called another guy to come back and snake.
They did not explain any potential issues or problems before starting the work. Once they got started, the cable got stuck in the pipe, then they sent the camera down, which also got stuck. Then, the person told my husband that the pipe broke where they were stuck, gave three price options which would cost us $3800-$5800 to fix. Somehow, they did get the camera out, but they cut off the cable and left it sticking out and duct taped to the pipe. They basically said there is nothing they could do and it is now our responsibility, and to call them when we wanted them to come back. I cannot use my plumbing now, which is awful considering my 13-year old has the flu.
After they left, my husband spoke with their supervisor, Chris, and it sounded like he was basically reading from a script of canned things to say when customers complain. He said that the tech explained the three stages of tree root issues, and how the pipe could have been weakened. THIS WAS NOT TRUE. The tech did not explain this nor did he explain the potential issues of cables breaking or the costs for fixing the pipe depending on the stage. The costs were not given until the cable was already broke, and the techs were leaving. I called the company right after the techs left at 4:20pm to talk with Chris myself, who was unavailable. I also asked for a call back by 5pm so that I could make plans to figure out what we could do to fix it as soon as possible. I did not receive a call back until 8:55am this morning (Friday).
The conversation with Chris was very unproductive and he stated that they did not know the severity of the pipe before going in (why the camera then?) and the reason that they do not explain the potential for the cable breaking is because that is rare, and against their best practices. They don't want to be viewed as using fear tactics to sell their services, which is also a complaint that he has received before. He said that apparently I prefer a particular communication style.
I told him I believe that best business practices are being up front and honest about the big picture with the customer, especially when this could cost thousands of dollars to fix. We should've received the options or knowledge of what could happen BEFORE they started the second snake to make an educated choice. Our plumbing was working before they got started, but now it is not and it was because of their equipment. He would never take any responsibility for this situation and said it is a matter of opinion about how the conversation could have been better yesterday.
When I asked what he could do for us, he said would have to talk with the tech again to see exactly what needs to be done and maybe could change their schedule to get someone out there tomorrow (Saturday). I declined as it was clear they do not care about us or our situation as I should have been contacted yesterday and been a priority call today. We have already called another company to come and do the work today (Friday), but I told him I will send him the bill. I also plan to file complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General's office for misleading marketing tactics and poor service.
Did not bother to show up, not once, but twice!! Finding a time when you can wait around for two hours for someone to show up is hard enough to begin with, but to do so twice is inexcusable. Will never use them again and would recommend you not either.

Great Service - Great Employees - Great Attitude.
Services Provided: Full Main Drain Replacement, Full Replacement Upgraded to Heat Pump and Cooling System (You Cant Stop A Trane), Routine Check - Ups and Maintenance.
MAIN DRAIN
Review: From the beginning we have always had a problem with out main drain and had to get the drain de-rooted about 3-4 times a year. After so many times they asked up if we would like to just talk to someone about main drain replacement. At any point my partner and I did not feel forced or over sold. With the outstanding performance, low cost and employees with great attitudes it was a pleasure to have out main drain replaced.
Issues/Concerns: To give the good with the bad, we did have one issue when they took out retaining wall to the flower bed on the incorrect side. But they fixed it and brought in a landscaper. Not only did they rectify the issue but when the work was done they put the wall back into place and blended it into the flower bed into the wall and made a little area for our recycle and trash bins.
HEAT PUMP
Review: After the main drain replacement we had Burton offer us a free inspection of our heating and cool system. Come to find out, one of our exhaust pipes had a huge hole in it and could have one day suffocated us. We crunched the numbers and Burton's was happy to let us shop around. A day later we made the decision to go with Burton's. There were so many perks and they were the most cost effective. We not only received a free upgrade but as well part of a program that gives us discounts on routine replacement items, 10 year warranty, and a lot more. With the replacement they did everything perfect and were able to move out water heater and fit all of the new items without taking up any other space. Not to mention we now have a humidifier built in. That would be my favorite item. I am a man of simple taste.
FINAL: If you are a shopper and want the best bang to your buck Burton's is it. If you are money conscious talk to them and let them know what you are looking for in a price range. If you get multiple service they can work on price as we did. AND MOST OF ALL IF YOU WANT TO SHOP AROUND TELL THEM AND THEY WILL NOT BE OFFENDED OR GIVE YOU FALSE HOPE FROM DOING SO. They know they are the best and you will find out. If anything always spend that little extra and you will never regret as their service is top notch. They will address any problem and DO NOT tack on any hidden fees if something happens. Ex: When we had a main drain clean, they stated they needed a person to come out to scope the drain to see where the issues were at. Other companies I only call and asked about them cleaning the old drain were outrageous, THEN they wanted to charge $100+ to scope it.
Give them a chance to come out and inspect out house. Who knows they may save you like they did us from a possible catastrophe!
(And just an FYI for people reading, I am a VERY critical person and if I feel a company has done wrong you better believe that I will blast it all over review sites. But this is one of the first full positive reviews I have done)
I called Burton to replace a valve on a main shut off to the water and a valve behind the refrigerator. Steve and Grant were really nice and they did explain everything to me and of course it was more than just replace valves. I agreed to it as I sure didn't know if it was right or wrong. Grant did the work in 4 hours and I gave him a check for$ $1,450.00. I then asked the company for a print out of the cost and labor. They informed me that they don't do that!!
What company doesn't explain to you what the cost are??/ I now feel like I got taken beings I really didn't know anything about what they said and trusted them to be fair with me. I will not hire them again and I will not recommend them to ANYBODY. Did the parts cost $1000.00 and the labor $450.00. They can't tell me. So how did the tech's come up with that figure? Beware don't call Burton or you will be HURTING!!
Very putzy, messed around with the hose bib when he was supposed to be doing an adjustment on the toilet tank. Maybe looking for more things to try to upsell or fix. Questionable.
Asked to see the main shut off valve in the basement, so showed him it was behind the washer.
Way too many trips outside to his truck, for what? Didn't seem him with any tools nor a toolbox. He did put some blue dye in the tank and I watched and nothing was leaking into the bowl (no blue dye).
Tried to sell repairs and charge over $300 for replacing parts in the tank, but I said just adjust it and replace the seal if you needed. He rejuvenated whatever that means. I looked in there and it all looks exactly the same to me. I can see nothing any different. The bill had no parts written on it, so I know nothing was replaced. The so-called rejuvenation must have been him adjusting the twist cap which I could have done in a minute. He didn't say he cleaned out anything either!
Tried to sell a $19.95/mo. service contract and I'm not sure what it covered; poor communication.
Discussed kitchen sink replacement and he said I'd probably want to also go ahead and replace the garbage disposal with a better one with stainless steel blades. I said well I'm selling in 5 yrs so why bother with that. He agreed and said I don't need a $1,000 disposal, that I could get by with a $500 one. wtf????? Go price disposals at Lowe's they are not in that price range.
The sink replacement: he suggested a farmhouse sink. I have a contemporary home and really don't want the farmhouse sink. I priced them and they are over $800 just for the sink alone (without faucet or labor). Don't think so. Again, major upselling.
Bill ended up to be over $120 for that visit.
I have a feeling we should have tried the simple fixes/adj using the Youtube videos first. Also, will update with results in the next month or two to see if his rejuvenation worked.
In any event, I wouldn't recommend this company.

Oh wanted a 0 stars but not available. Plumber came out. I needed a valve replaced on my downstairs bath/shower & 3 sinks needed tightened one sink had drain plug that came off hook to close. I was given an estimate for 1200. Seriously? They need to order a part. Charged my American Express the 1200. & the work had not been completed. In the meantime I had a small Plumbing come out for an estimate. 120.00 to do all the work. Told me to take a picture of the shower fixture & call Delta & they would send me a new part for free. There's a lifetime warranty on all their fixtures & parts. He was here for 20 minutes & fixed everything. Said to call & he would stop by & insert the broken piece. 1200. Vs 120.? I've called their office & was told last Wednesday I would hear back within 45 hours. No call. Called again today & no call back either. A bit confused? Calling Amex to deal with getting my monies back. I saved 1000. Stay far away from them. The good reviews I read above are interesting. I'm sure they all over paid for their services.
We had scheduled an appointment for 3pm, 14 June 2013. Five and a half hours later, still no sign of tech. Finally, around 9:30pm Burton called and said that they would not be able to come out and that they could come out tomorrow. We said sure as long as they only charged the weekday rate, which Burton agreed. Received a call Saturday morning from Burton, asking us if we still had a problem. YES...that's why we called you in the first place! They stated that we were scheduled for the day but the manager had no idea when a tech would show up. Never heard from Burton all day and finally received a call around 9pm stating they would not be coming out and had know idea when they would be able to get to us. If you're hurtin...DON'T call Burton. Wish I could give them negative stars.

I had a tech come look a sink and a tub in our house due to agreement on closing of the sale of our house. The tech didn't put a note that they looked at the sink but did put information on the fix for the tub that was done. Well Friday before Monday closing of our old house we get informed that we need an updated invoice to show that sink was looked at or we can't close on the house. Not Burton's issue on timing but I called Friday morning, called Saturday Morning, called 4 times Monday to have a manager look into this. I was informed by the manager that finally called me back, Allison, that they are allowed 48 business hours per request to get back to someone. I am sorry you are a manager and salary, check your emails on the weekend like everyone else does. Help a person out when they are in a urgent issue. So long story short, Allison had to contact the tech that was on paternity leave and have them update the invoice and call me. Apparently she couldn't do that for him? Also she was very rude due to she kept saying we are allowed 48 hours, sorry our closing of our house was delayed 6 hours because Burton could not update an invoice to show there was no issues with sink that was inspected. Seriously the manager there is rude and lazy.
The furnace at our rental unit did not come on. My wife called Burton, a technician came out and made a laundry list of parts that needed to be replaced over $2000. He then scheduled a Comfort consultant to speak with us about an entirely new system. I got a second opinion from SOS heating and air, they came out, put new batteries in the thermostat, and a new filter in the furnace. The system works perfectly. I have been told that Burtons technicians are salesman who get a commission, that certainly makes sense. The question is, at what point do they cross the line from aggressive sales to outright fraud. I will register a complaint with the Better Business Bureau And call the local TV stations. I am literally disgusted And strongly recommend against using Burton for any service. I really don't know how these guys sleep at night.
I had Burton's out to perform a heating system inspection on a newly purchased home. I was so impressed that they were able to get me in right away for an appointment. I was also pleased that they worked around my work schedule and kids school schedule. They were very flexible and communicated with me throughout the process.
I appreciated that they kept in contact with me regarding where the technician was and the approximate time he would be available. Keaton even called me personally to let me know when he was on his way.
He arrived right on time and the inspection went great! He told me everything I needed to know and was so friendly, personable and was great with my kids. I was so impressed by the knowledge, professionalism and friendly disposition of this technician and I think it is reflective of the company he works for. Thank you Burton's and thank you Keaton!! I will definitely be recommending and using your services again.

We just bought our house and Burton was hired to redo plumbing and rewire the house.
Matt, master plumber, told us he'd be our go to guy through the whole thing. Awesome. They fit the plumbing done in three days. And that was awesome. But what my issues are of the following:
Plumbing failed first inspection- but they promptly fixed it, it was however on the same day the wiring was being done(I'll touch that in a sec) so my power was out, my water was shut off (without knocking at my door to at least let me know), it was about 96°, and my 6m old son was not having it. I couldn't turn a fan on or make my son a bottle all day. Thank god I had a few bottles of water in the diaper bag.
Matt no longer sender's my calls, texts, or emails.
Electrical:
I can't even remember the first guys name.but let's talking about this:
Told us the lights would be out for an hour tops... Took him six hours.
Took him two weeks tofix our outlets. ALL he did was replace the faceplate and called it good. Even though there still isn't power running to any of them.
My light switches started shocking me. Took him another two weeks to come out.
Spent more time trying to show me magic tricks than actually working.
Failed not one, but two inspections. And he's only done half The work!
Totally not worth 3600.
Burton let guy go.. nowJeremy Is fixing his mess. He is absolutely amazing. He talks to my son, communicates with me on everything and gives me realistic time lines. Id ask him anyday to come back..
Mark B. was outstanding! Set up my tub and shower insert and fixture and also fixed a wonky sump pump set up. He worked around mason bees that came out of the crawlspace even! Very informative with everything and had awesome suggestions for finishing the work. I highly recommend this company and especially this Field Technician

Have (now had) a VIP membership with Burton. Part of the VIP program they offer a free plumbing inspection. There were a few things that I wanted done so I was able to get a free estimate by doing the inspection. The cost for the plumbing work I wanted was nearly $1,800.00. Before deciding, I wanted to compare prices with other plumbing companies but most require a $50-$70 fee just to come out and do an estimate. Companies like this do this so they deter customers getting a second estimate and therefore jack the price up. I found another plumbing company in Omaha that had 5 star rating and offered free estimates without any VIP membership and the cost of the same repairs was about 1/3 the cost of Burton's.
They installed a new AC unit and furnace. Paid $13,000 and the service was uneccaptable. Bad installation with one mistake over the other. Scratches all over, looked like a used unit. Also they want to talk you into getting a loan through Wells Fargo but they don't tell you is like a credit card and it will ruin your credit report.

My husband's Mother, who is 84, had an issue with her main line drain. She called Burton at 10 am. My husband went over to her house, taking time off from work, to meet the plumber. Well, it was 6:30 pm before they even pulled into the drive.
After a bit of haggling and the guy walking all over my Mother in Law's house, he proclaimed that the upstairs hall bathroom had toilet lid that was cracked and this was a hazard. We needed to replace the entire toilet immediately. He had two in his truck and the first one was his cheapest and it costed only $711.00. The better one had a cost of 771.00 installed. Then he would need to clear the main line, and he wanted to stick a camera down the line to see what was blocking it. Also because it was after hours he was going to need to charge us for an after hours call. What???!!! First off it was his fault for being late, not ours.
After much discussion, and him pressuring also to have us sign up for their Service Plan, we came to an agreement. He was going to change the inner workings of the toilet in the hall, and clear the main line drain. This costed 729.00 and took him almost 4 hours and he is insisting on coming back tomorrow with his supervisor. Great more time off and waiting. I think we are gonna decline his coming back and call another plumber. We are in the wrong business. What do they think we are the Government?
He also spent 25 minutes in his truck with my Mother in Laws Debit Card. I think I will be watching every transaction everyday!!
BBB here we come!!!
Be forewarned!!!
My husband called to set up an appointment last Thursday (8-14-14) and was told a technician would be at our house between 8 and noon today (8-18-14). At 12:30 we finally received a call and were told that they did not have a technician available yet but someone would be out within an hour or two. We then received ANOTHER call at 4:30 saying no body could come until after 7 tonight. My husband spoke to a manager because we were frustrated at having to wait all day and not being contacted until after the time frames we were given but the manager was completely rude. Terrible customer service. The employees are extremely unprofessional and we will NEVER use Burton again.

Absolutely terrible. They offer a $99 main line clearing but do not intend to provide ANY service for anywhere near that price. They sent me a guy named Ray who did literally zero. He touched nothing, did nothing and told me the cost of the main line cleaning is actually $550 at the very least. He quoted me an ending price of almost $800 to clear the main line.
A complete scam.
I've used Burton once, and in a recent emergency I was willing to use them again, but they're so bad, I'll never call in the future.
The first time I used them, they set a toilet for me and charged double what any other plumbing outfit would have. Hey, my mistake. I learned. The job got done, though the tech tried to upsell us until our eyes bled.
Then recently, as in, on Christmas Eve two days ago, I was working in one of my rentals and a water pipe burst. We had a massive flooding problem, and Burton didn't answer their phones the first five times we called. When my wife finally got someone on the phone they couldn't talk to us unless we gave them credit card information first--Hello? can you say emergency?--and they wouldn't even speculate on where the master water shut off might be. Needless to say, we found another company to help. I'll never call Burton again.

I would like to give NO STARS! Burton staff told me I needed a new kitchen faucet and two new short pipes under the sink. TOP PRICE: FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS! They would use top-of-the-line faucet, replace two short pipes & guarantee for 10 years. Mid-price: FIFTEEN HUNDRED DOLLARS, mid-level faucet & replace short pipes. LOW price: FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS, using low grade faucet (from the truck) and not replacing short pipes under sink, guarantee 7 days. I paid their service call fee & sent them out the door. PRICE GOUGING!!! I ended up paying a reputable contractor $220. for a top-of-the-line faucet, replacing short pipes under sink & guaranteeing work for 10 years.
I've been with these guys since 2008 and I've have spent over $30,000. They've replaced 2 air conditioners, my water line, and done over plenty of other services. They did a great job in the past but over the past 2 years... total waste of time. Horrible customer service, horrible billing, no longer do call backs, problems canceling service agreement... No longer recommend. I paid for an entire year of service they never did. Buyer beware.
Joe the service tech was awesome! He came out on an emergency call and located the problem and gave us some pricing. We decided to go with a full clean out of the main line in the basement and a three year protection plan. That included taking off the toilet to clean out the line and replacing it!! Yes it cost money but it was one in the morning!! I wish he could have come out sooner but apparently everyone in town was having the same problem!! I would still recommend Joe and Burton to anyone who needs service! Thanks

I am a VIP member and have waited 3 days for emergency service to my AC Unit as our home is reading 90 degrees. Burton was to come today before noon. I just received a call that they need to reschedule until next Wednesday!!!!!! That is a total of a week and half for Emergency Service!!!!!!No words.....never again!!!!!
Greg M came from Burton today to check out our furnace. Unfortunately this furnace is 16 years old and not a brand you here of now. Greg was very honest about every step and tried a major step to fix
The furnace but unfortunately there were too many other little things and a couple big ones that still would have to be fixed. All of this fixing would really add up and parts are hard to get or would have to be handmade by Greg himself in order to fix it... we will need a new unit so we'll have to see what they say tommorrow. Greg was very courteous, friendly and explained everything to me as we went along.
Way overpriced. I had them come by to look at my kitchen faucet and that cost me $60 bucks. Now they say they don't quote you prices over the phone so they can come see what your problem is. The real reason is to get the $60 bucks. Now back to the faucet. To replace from the shut off valves to replacing the faucet was $794 bucks. This is ridiculous. I will never use them or recommend them. I wish I would have not purchase my furnace and A/C unit from them. Never again. Buyer beware.

I needed to have two toilets reseated because they were leaking and really didn't have time to do it myself. The guy gave ma gave me a written bid of $350 for the first one and $150 for the second. I ended up doing each myself they each took me approx. 12 minutes to do. In my opinion, stay away from these guys unless you have a heck of a lot of money! They guys are extremely high priced. I called 5 other area plumbers and they were double the highest price I found locally. Beware!!!!

I'm in the process of buying a house and there were a few things we wanted to do during a renovation period before moving in. I got quotes from two other local companies that totaled around $6,000.
Then I called Burton. At first the person setting up the appointment told me there was a charge of $50 just to have someone come to the house. I have worked with dozens of contractors and none have charged to look at the work. I told them that I would not be interested, she talked to her manager and said they could waive the fee. Lucky me.
The quote that Burton gave me, and I am not inflating this number, was $25,000 more than the other two companies not including the most expensive portion which was replacing the main water line out of the house. The tech couldn't even quote me on that and said someone else from the company would have to come out and quote the work.
Shocked and in disbelief, I listened while he went over the costs. He left and I threw his bid in the trash.
Buyer beware. Do your homework, get a couple quotes and find a plumber you can trust.
I will never, ever call Burton again.
Called to get a quote on a furnace humidifier. They would not connect me to someone to provide a quote over the phone, insisting that they had to come out to my house to provide pricing. What is up with that? Everyone else I have called to quote has happily provided info on make/model for replacement and pricing for purchase and install. Seems fishy to me.

HIGHLY overpriced, to the point that it's obvious they are trying to screw people! They wanted almost $600 to replace a $20 thermocouple on my water heater. They then quoted me $1,800 for a new water heater which is completely outrageous. This is on top of the service call they charged me when other companies in town were offering free estimates. When I asked the service person what kind of water heater they were putting in he couldn't tell me. In informed him they were more than twice as high as any other company in town. What irritated me the most is that if someone less informed had been put on the spot Burton HVAC wouldn't have thought twice about completely ripping them off. Burton will never be trusted in my home again.
I want to support local businesses but not when they try to screw over the people in their own community. I ended up going with one of the big box local home improvement stores, paid half the price, got a better warranty and they contracted out a local company who did a fantastic job and they had the job done in a couple of hours.
AVOID BURTON!

We got scammed big time by Burton. They used high pressure to sell us on a new sewer line, showing video of a flat sewer line. Salesman acted all caring and sincere until we signed the contract and payment was given. Then we never saw him again. He promised damage to our property would be repaired--no, they don't repair brick walks and did not repLang our grass. We were promised a complete blow out of all of our pipes--did not happen. We were promised a case of plumbing cleanse--never provided. Salesman never returned, workers at our home laughed at our concern saying they just worked for their pay. We will never use them again!
I wish I would have read the reviews before calling them. It was a Sunday unfortunately, that my hot water heater went out. I called and she said not a problem to come out and told me what the charge was. I asked do they carry all the equipment needed to replace a hot water heater and they said yes. So, he came out and told me I needed a new one. Of course, they didn't have the size I needed and told me I could go get one from a local store and he could install it for over $900 or I could pay an additional $400 for him to go get one or wait until Monday. Needless to say they didn't install it and I was charged the fee for them to come out which wasn't cheap for doing nothing except telling me I needed a new one.
Needed some plumbing work done on a home I just purchased. I've been on the phone with 5 different plumbers today. Burton was the only place that required my full name and address before they'd even talk to me, and they were VERY vague about their fee structure. On top of that, I asked for details on the $99 sewer drain special on their website, they had no information on what was covered by that $99, and to get any information at all was going to be at least a $55 estimate. Left a bad taste in my mouth, I'm going to go with one of the 4 other companies that could at least give me a straight answer when I call in.
I called at 7:40 in the morning on a Friday in 100 degree weather and was told a tech would be there that day. I gave them my phone number as the number they had on file was for my husband. Told them he wouldn't be able to answer. They said dispatch would call and let me know when they were coming. They called about 11am, but to THE WRONG NUMBER. When I called them a couple minutes later, I was informed that there was no place for me in the lineup today because my system wasn't old enough for them to come out today (meaning they weren't going to be able to try to sell me a new one and it wasn't worth their time). They bumped me to MONDAY! BURTON IS AN ABSOLUTE SCAM COMPANY ONLY OUT TO MAKE THE MOST MONEY VS ACTUALLY HELPING CUSTOMERS IN NEED! No thank you Burton, I will NEVER call you again!

Until recently, I was not aware that Burton provided electrical support. One of their electricians came out and went through a complete list of the items that we needed done and provided a detailed estimate.
Once approved, we went ahead and scheduled the appointment. Ahead of their arrival we received an appointment confirmation, a notification that they were on the way, and details regarding the individuals providing the service, along with their photographs for security.
The electricians were exceptionally professional and friendly. They went above and beyond to ensure that all items identified had been addressed and went as far as taking a moment to answer a few questions about items that were not even on the list.
We were so happy with the work that was done that we actually called them back for additional work and specifically requested the same crew. We were pleased to have similar results as our first experience.
We referred Burton to a neighbor in the area who also needed electrical work and was dealing with a terminal illness within the family. The team were kind enough to go over provide the estimate and even addressed a quick fix issue ad hoc. Their actions contributed to my neighbors ultimately purchasing an entire home generator because of how great the team was there during their first visit.
Just so happy to find reliable support for electrical needs and Burton is the place to go! Can't say enough positive things about our experience.
Tenant had a plugged toilet, dripping bath sink & broken tub handle. got an estimate over $1,500 as they were going to pull the toilet to snake. Called to see what they had done tech advised they didnt pull toilet just snaked 6to 8 ft I asked if he found anything he said no I then asked if maybe he had just pushed the blockage further & WHAT IF IT PLUGGED AGAIN/ HE SAID IT WOULD BE A NEW CHARGE No warranty. He changed the tub faucet handle & told me it turned hard & might consider down the road replacing tub faucet. ( He told tenant not to use it would break I found out after the tenant called the next day to say all drains upstairs backing up.. OH THE WHOLE HOUSE DRAINS ARE PLUGGED NOW 1 DAY LATER as I was told no warranty I called a different plumber & will never use Burton again!!!! Basically the replaced bath sink faucet at a over $1,500 charge. I will tell everyone I know to stay away from these crooks...
Overpriced!! Try to pull a fast one on you so watch out! Always wanting to talk about a plan this and that which was way to expensive!! The tech told us that our ac needed a compressor that cost $ 1,500. We had another company come look at our ac, it was up and running within half hour! All they care about is making money!! Would not recommend them to anyone!!
DO NOT purchase their partner service member plan! On paper and what they advertise it looks like a no brainer. For $9.95 a month they will come out and do six maintenance checks to include heating, cooling, electrical, plumbing, etc. We've been paying into this for over a year and done a furnace check and an air-conditioning check. I schecduled my air conditioning maintenance for today, called two weeks ago to set it up, and rearranged my work week to be available for today's afternoon appointment. I got a call at 10:30 this morning that they couldn't come out because of the extreme heat (in the 90's) and they had too many emergency calls to handle.
I signed up to be a preferred member for preventative maintenance on my systems to prevent emergency maintenance. But they obviously don't plan for extreme heat in the summer (it was in the 90s for goodness sake) for people that don't invest in preventative maintenance? They offered me a reschedule 3 to four days later which I couldn't arrange, because I had already rearranged my work week to be home this afternoon. They give you a morning or afternoon time frame, we'll give you a call when we're on the way. But, what's the point if you take a half day off of work and they can't handle you?
Total fail on their promise. DON'T GO WITH BURTON!
MUD told me that I had a leak in the gas controller valve and to call my contractor. I have a service plan with Burton. Explained how I had gas getting into my house and could only have the furnace off for a short time since it was 11 degrees outside. Finally, almost 4 hours later 2 techs show up. The one had been here a couple of months before and did the inspection on the unit. They didn't have to do the diagnosis, MUD had already done that. After 15 minutes looking at it they said it would cost $470 in labor to switch out the unit, the part was under warranty. I had no choice and assumed it was a long install. They left for 30 minutes to get the part and then had it installed in less than 30 minutes. With my discount it cost just over $400 in labor. Not sure what these guys make an hour (or why I had to pay 2 guys for one guys work), but for what took less than 2 hours (including the time they were gone) that was a lot of cash. This, and some other issues in the past and I think I will be stopping the service agreement and finding another contractor.
I had a clogged bathroom sink and called Burton on a Thursday morning to see if they would be able to come the next day. They scheduled me between 12:30 and 5:00 and I had to take 4 hours of vacation from work in order to be home. At 3:30 on Friday they called and said they were overbook and wouldn't be able to make it until Monday. I told them and I had out of town company coming and a birthday party on Saturday so I needed someone to come. They schedule me at 8am Saturday morning and then at 7am someone called to see if they were supposed to be there at 8am or 12:30. I told them 12:30 was for the day before. I wasted 4 hours of vacation. There $99 drain cleaning special ended up being $241 dollars. They charged an extra $100 because they said I had used hazardous drain cleaner. Everyone I've talked to has never heard of such a thing.

My reviews keep getting deleted. Don't use these thieves. They charged my old deaf and almost blind parents $500 to change the wax ring on their toilet. Feel free to contact me to defend yourselves.
I wouldn't hire these guys to do anything. You can see by their reviews they're not very ethical.
Don't trust these guys

Burton Plumbing uses scare tactics to try and sell you equipment you don't need.
Elizabeth pretty much nailed my experience - I had a technician come out for an inspection and a cleaning a few months ago. With the understanding that my heater was overheating and therefore cutting off before my home reached the proper temperature, I was instructed to replace the overheated element ($150), re-insulate the air ducts ($350) , and replace my thermometer ($200).
When I had another technician from another company come out two weeks ago, he agreed that the overheated element needed to be replaced. However, this new technician took the time to show me how I could replace the thermometer AND how easily I could fix the air ducts on my own.
The most exasperating issue, though, is the fact that there is a valve in my air ducts that can open and close: open and air flows freely into my living room - closed and no air flows. The new technician showed me this, opened it up for me, and now my heater works better than it ever has (duh, because the air is actually flowing).
Burton was prepared to charge me $700 for an issue that, in reality, was not even going to fix the problem. Did they do this on purpose? I like to think not. Did they miss basic components of my system? Absolutely.
Whether or not Burton trains their technicians in scare tactics is beyond my comprehension. Regardless, incompetence at this level and on this scale is not acceptable. If you decide to use Burton, use caution as well.
I'd give them 20 stars if I could. We had them come do the regular check up on our furnace. Found some problems and we talked with a sienna. That was Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Today, Saturday, the techs came in at 8 am, replaced my old furnace and were gone in 2 hours.
No extra charge for weekend. No high pressure sales, just, These are your options, and explanations of all options.
I will be using them for all my hvac needs.
From a response standpoint Burton did well. I emailed them in the evening for a clogged floor drain and the next morning they called. The tech came out that afternoon, calling before arrival as promised. That's the good part of the story. I was contacted with 7 quotes/options, ranging from $184 to $1211. The lowest included cleaning the restriction fault aka the clog, from the shower stall drain, with no guarantees. The next was $375 lifting the porcelain waste system aka the toilet, with no warranty, and from there adding years to the warranty up to 4 yrs. Being very familiar with plumbing and drains from my plumber grandpa, I chose the cheapest option. The tech cleaned it as promised and with the $30 service charge and tax, I got off with a $227 bill...OUCH! Oh, and by the way, I had a Valpak coupon for $90 for drain cleaning I presented and was informed that little gem is only to open a drain, not clean a drain. The tech said they would only use a smaller cable and poke a hole in the clog Are your frickin' kidding me? Who wants a drain partially cleaned, therefore, the coupon is a scam to get people like me to call. And to keep customers feeling stupid, they use terms above like restriction fault and porcelain waste system...
They did the job, but bend over, it's gonna hurt like heck.

Not your standard service call This review is for Jason r. Last night, my daughter, while doing a scavenger hunt, lost her keys/wallet/lanyard down the storm sewer in a friends neighborhood. There was a group of us trying to fish them out and figure out how to get them back when Jason popped out of his home and offered his assistance. It was after 11 o'clock at night and at that point we'd figured we had no chance to get them back. Jason used his manhole hook to get us access and help us retrieve them from a very tricky spot. Without his assistance, we would have lost a very expensive set of keys and all of my daughters credit cards and other effects. I really appreciatwd Jason being willing to help a group of strangers standing around his neighborhood close to midnight. I would certainly call on him for future plumbing needs as he showed great initiative and exemplary character. Thank you again, Jason!

No emergency hr fees if you start a work order during the week. No extra weekend fees. Tells it to you straight. Want them to snake the drain again before moving on to a more expensive recommend repair? Sure thing. Highly recommend. Super nice staff. Think you can youtube it and try yourself? Go for it then call them for help. Lifesavers! Thanks Burton if you are reading this!!!
