Reviews
Mr. Rooter did a sewer job on a prior house we were pleased with, so when the sewer backed up on our new house they were our first call. They recommended cameraing the line, however they were three times the going rate for a camera. But they were there, so we had them do it. That's when their tech told us all the cast iron under the house was completely shot, missing sections, would all have to be replaced, quoting a 15k repair.
I sent their video to three other plumbers, and we had another company come out and recamera the line. All of them said the line was fine, and there was no need to rip apart the basement. It was just a simple soft blockage.
I'm not a plumber, and I know there can be differences of opinion. But everyone I talked to who wasn't trying to sell me on a 15k repair said the line was fine. I will say that the folks I talked to at Mr. Rooter were very respectful, but continued to double down and insist I needed the repair. And the folks I talked with on the phone were talking about a single tree root (which the other company said was a tampon string), and were all talking very differently than the original tech. And they never refunded their original camera.
I'm really not sure what to make of their service. They were responsive and respectful, but very expensive, and tried to sell me on a repair that everyone else I talked to said I didn't need. Perhaps time will prove them right, but for now I cannot recommend their services.
Edit: After posting this review, I was contacted immediately by Mr. Rooter, and after talking with the gentleman was offered a refund of my camera, said it would go through in a couple of days. However, it took nearly three weeks and another call to their accounting department to actually receive it. But I did receive the refund and again, everyone was very respectful. It was just a minor mistake that was easily rectified, but I can't say it was exactly the confidence inspiring remedy they might have hoped for.
I needed assistance with drain in the basement that caused water to come up whenever it rained. The technician slightly made the situation seem small although it was frustrating to me. Took him about 20 minutes to let me know that there were roots within the system that could possibly be the problem while stating they were small as if they couldn't possibly be the problem. However, I figured, what do I have to lose other than $230 to get them cut down. Fortunately, the roots were indeed the problem as it has rained numerous times and the rain hasn't had any effect on my basement since.

Highly recommend. I called for a second opinion on a repair, as usual and Mr. Rooter got me in the next day. The receptionist was pleasant and the technician was knowledgeable and friendly. He wore a mask, which I appreciated! They were the higher of the two bids by about 200$
These guys should be avoided. You call for a clean out, make an appointment, and I asked for a typical charge and they do not give you one on the phone, when they get there, the charge is way out of line and ,much higher than typical, but you've got a backed up basement so you might be inclined to pay (in my case I opted not to use their service). I would not call it deceptive, but I would not call them again. To be clear, this review is more about the practices of the dispatcher and the clarity of the pricing practices of this firm. As I did not have any actual work performed by them, I can not comment on the quality of their service.

DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE!! Our sewer backed up and we called Mr. Rooter. The technician who came out could not remove the blockage. Then he charged us $100 more to snake it from the street. Also not unblocking it. We had suspected a break so we had him run a camera. He found the break, but would not mark it on the floor. This whole fiasco ended up costing $500. THEN because said technician could not unblock the sewer it FLOODED our basement 3 days later. We called them back to get them to come out and re snake it, but they wouldn't because there was a break. We had to call a real plumber out (who could and did remove the blockage). This guy ran a camera and MARKED where the break was. The invoice from Mr. Rooter was a joke, it said nothing that we could give our insurance or any plumber who could come in to replace the pipe.
If you have a serious root problem in your lateral line then find a plumbing pro. Mr. Rooter did not have the equipment to clean my line and I didn't find that out until I paid them $330.00. Never again Mr. Rooter!
Called for cleaning my sewer line. Would not provide a price in advance. Upon arrival, they told me the only way to clear the line was with a hydro blast type cleaning (without trying a standard method) at $750. Reluctantly I agreed, only to be told after 10 minutes of attempting to clear the line, that I needed $7000 in repairs. They presented me an estimate, with a 30% discount IF I signed immediately.
Of course I did not. However they still charged me $750 for clearing the line! (Later, after complaining about the charge they refunded $150. That is still $600 for a service they didn't complete!)
The customer service rep was so understanding and compassionate, I actually considered using them. Then I read the contract! There is a clause that allows the company to withdraw funds from your checking account if there are extra charges!! IF you decide to use this company, READ THE CONTRACT!
A second estimate was $2000 less. I would avoid this company at all costs.
Excellent communication, immediate response to my request for a quote for a plugged garbage disposal. Received an email confirming the plumber's visit along with his picture. Eric called before arriving within the promised 2 hour window. Unclogged the stoppage and cleaned up when done, taking less than an hour. A job well done.

They showed up on time and completed the work at a reasonable price. Hard to beat that for a plumbing company. The technician was well dressed, courteous and professional. I already plan on using them again for another project.

I would recommend this company to anyone needing good service. From the person making the appointment to the technician everything went well. 2 plumbers came he show me the problem with my faucets gave me a price. They did the work very good experience. The office called me on the day of service and told me they were at my home, I was not there and she relayed to them I was on my way. Thanks again Mr. Rooter plumbing.

I had them come out to fix a leaky shower faucet which they sent someone the next day. However, in two days it started leaking in a different spot. They have rescheduled two different times now since I've asked them to come back out and fix it. I will not be using them in the future.

I would give this company 0 starts if possible. I scheduled an appointment with them today to check a drain issue. I received an email confirming the appointment and then confirming another stating the technician was on his way. After waiting hours I called to see where the technician was. I was ensured he was finishing up a job and would be here shortly. I then received a call stating he wasn't actually finishing up his job and they wanted to reschedule the appointment. I wasted an entire afternoon waiting for someone that didn't show and could have easily had another company out to complete the task. Don't schedule unless you have unlimited time to wait for this unreliable organization.

Had a leaky bathtub faucet that I couldn't get fixed right. Mr. Rooter was able to get a tech(Paul) out to us at our convenience who was able to fix it quickly and explained exactly what the issue was. Fast and efficient!
Keith from Mr. Rooter was great!
He was early on my appointment which was great!
He had to remove a toilet and replace it with a new one.
It was 90 degrees outside, but I did my best to keep him cool.
Hard work putting in a heavy ceramic toilet. I have used Mr. Rooter
Before, and they are 5 stars on my list.
Keep up the exceptional work!
The owner Brice came out and installed my new water service. He was very fast and professional. Would highly recommend them and use them the next time I have any plumbing problems.

Mr. Rooter cleared our kitchen drain today and did a great job. They were here for about 40 minutes and after they left you couldn't even tell they had been here. Cody did a great job. Very courteous and very professional.
Excellent work on what's turned into a huge job!. The guys were awesome and quite hilarious!

I needed a natural gas line extended from my basement to my kitchen (for a stove install) - I reasoned that I could do that myself with enough YouTube video-watching, but being natural gas, I decided it best to hand it off to the pros. Price came in a little higher than I expected so I talked it out with them, and they gave me some options to lower the price.
Day of, the guys came out on-time, were perfectly pleasant. Bonus: not a single plumber buttcrack was seen that day. The job took them a bit longer than even they expected, which was fine, and they explained why - since it was a lump-sum job and not hourly, I certainly didn't mind if they took their time to do it right.
When it came time to do the stove install, they were very careful not to cause any scratches to either the floor or the stainless-steel stove. They threw all trash in their own toolbox to take with them instead of tossing in my trash can (being in a consultant/service industry, I appreciate little things like that).
All-told, I was completely happy with the price, the people, and the result - can't think of anything that I would've expected differently. I'd recommend them.
Great experience. After coming home to a flooded basement on Christmas evening, called Mr. Rooter to clear a blockage. Cody was pleasant, helpful, and quickly fixed our blockage. At a stressful time, it was great to have an affordable easy resolution to a nightmare situation. Would recommend service to others. It did take a little while to get here but once he got here it was a quick fix, so worth the wait. Drain was clear and water turned back on the evening of the 26th.
A very nice young man who showed up on time to snake the kitchen line and did this at the price he said he would.
no complaints there.
however I was left with the uncomfortable impression that the company has incentivized him to upsell... not necessarily a horrible thing.... but when the kitchen stack clean out blockage was removed (thank you) he then ran a camera into the PVC/2 inch cast-iron pipes and initially strongly stated that the camera clearly showed that the cast-iron pipes were broken/damaged and that the water was draining under the foundation.
then, after running the hose through the clean out while simultaneously running the camera, the sludge moved through the system and started to show -from my perspective- that the 2 inch cast-iron pipes were functioning properly.
but that is my unprofessional opinion
we did flush the toilet, and with the camera we could see the water running successfully out to the main line as it should have been.
since there has never been any blockage experienced from the toilets, and the only blockage was from the kitchen stack, we then kept running water and filming.
the water worked its way nicely...all the way out to the Sewer system ...
after everything seemed to be working perfectly, I was then offered a pressure cleaning (which seem to contradict the early diagnosis that the pipes were broken)
obviously, statements that leave you with the impression water...filled with waste... is pouring out underneath your foundation and that you could be facing $5,000 to $10,000 worth of work to replace the pipes...Creates some serious anxiety...
and Again concluded with been offered a pressure cleaning only after it became apparent that there were no broken pipes
( I say apparent not knowing 100% that there are no broken pipes but everything's Is working....) we ran the hose for about five minutes more, with the camera, and the longer the water ran, the more we could see the sludge clearing
I was also told that the mainline P-trap underneath the concrete was a code violation and a serious problem
it's my understanding that the main line P-trap (Underneath the basement floor) is actually per code. I am assuming it's a way of keeping methane from working its way into your house ... just like the P-trap underneath the sink ...The mainline P-trap combined with the exhaust stack that runs to the roof ...I called another plumber to ask and confirm my thoughts and they said that of course when you run a camera through your clean out underneath the kitchen stack that you would see the camera go through water and then come back out ...that's the P-trap and not a code violation.
I don't think I've explained this really well
but I hope it makes some sense:
that I felt I was being deceived
it's not clear to me that the young man was a man of bad character i
t is my assumption that ownership has played a part in either pushing or greatly incentivizing their technician to find more work at each call...more than the $425 I was charged to snake my line
I was happy to pay the $425
I'm very disappointed in the strong possibility that I was deceived combined with the current world that is filled, now, with individuals who see truth as relative and whose moral compass is broken
while I might've saved myself $10,000 I am sure that there are others who will not and it is my hope that this review might help someone else not experience what I have experienced... needless fear, anxiety, and the near miss of being scammed.
Don't sign for anything other than the service you called about without a second or even third professional opinion!
and check the BBB if you think this is a one-off!

Everyone was nice. But the phone person said they can't give a general quote over the phone. But your technician told me a quote right away. It's a sham $288 to snake a clogged bathroom drain. I will not use this overly expensive service again.
This time I used Mr. Rooter to replace stack pipes. After three times work, they finally finished their job as they said. Then they asked me pay the balance. But this project included an inspection. I required to pay after passing the inspection. They insisted that they have finished their job and asked me to pay. But for customers, the quote they gave me including inspection, which is also really required. Before inspection, how could I know they really finished the project? After a long struggling, I have to pay part of my balance and they scheduled an inspection. But after inspection, the inspector didn't leave any proof, so I didn't know whether it was passed or not. But they called me back asking me to pay the balance. I of course asked a proof to show that the inspection has been passed. They told me they can access some system and screen the proof for me. I accepted and told them after receiving their screening proof, I will pay immediately. But after one month, I didn't hear anything from this company. Today, they finally called me back, asking me to pay the balance. I have to ask where is my proof of inspection? They told me they could do nothing before I paid. That is what I got after one month waiting. I really could not understand what they were thinking during the past month and I do not know what they are trying to avoid or hide something. I hired this company because I would like to spend more money to hire a licensed and insured company to do the project legally step by step, trying to avoid troubles in future. But it seems I am wrong. I think as a customer, it is quite normal to pay the balance after everything is legally finished. Based on their behavior, after paying the balance, I don't know whether I could get my proof successfully. I don't know without any proof, whether I would have some troubles in the future? I do not know without proof, why I need to pay another hundred dollars for permit and inspection.
I had them come out on a Sunday
They were fast , neat and clean.
The tech Dustin Perren was great!
Thanks

After 4 phone calls, the plumber arrived 2 hours late. This was after they changed the appt time 3 times! The guy didn't bring ANYTHING inside- no camera/scope for the service I had requested, no tools, no pen, no note/quote sheet, nothing. Did not apologize for being late. Talked to us about what we wanted and explained how it could be done. Told us he could give us a high and a low figure for how much it would cost because he couldn't tell what condition our old drains/pipes were it (This was the exact reason I called them asking them to bring a scope to look inside my drains/pipes!). then he left. we received a quote for one small portion of the work we asked for with no other communication. After I called and spoke to a Project Mngr. I found out that the technician was still working on getting numbers together for the other 2/3s our our project. He said he would call the next morning. he did not call the next morning. I did receive a 2nd quote for the other work to be done, minus the cost of the toilet, vanity, sink and shower that we HAD discussed adding to the quote. No call, no followup, nothing else. I had to call in again for clarifications. the Project magr.again said he would call me back, which he did not. The following day we got a sparse email from someone we had never heard of or talked to. It said, Good afternoon Marti,
This is Jonathan with Mr Rooter Plumbing, With this type of job we are not going to proceed with the estimates or the work. We apologize for any inconvenience

Had an amazing experience today with one of your plumbers. His name was John and when he stopped by yesterday to fix our bath tub valve, he said that the screw was stripped and it would be much more expensive for him to remove. We told him that we'd try to remove it ourselves and he was kind enough to leave his number to walk us through the process when we got the screw off. Today, when I got the stripped screw off, we called and he was so patient and walked us through the whole thing. I can tell you that I will for sure be calling Mr. Rooter the next time we need plumbing service because John went out of his way to help us.
Took advantage of us in a crisis, charged way too much and then wouldn't give us an itemized invoice after the fact. Pretty sure they charged like $600 for an hour of labor and are trying to hide that now. Called several times to resolve and they either refused to help or gave us the runaround. The plumber was also highly unprofessional.

Had a great experience with Mr Rooter.
I had a blocked drain in my basement. Mr Rooter sent out Corey Woods. This guy kept me informed on every step of the way even showing me video of the roots growing in Mr pipes which were causing my obstruction. I can't say enough good things about this plumber. He fixed the issue in a timely manner and I felt the charges were reasonable since they had to high power flush the main pipe to clear it.

1 star for keeping an appointment and showing up.
Aside from that, quite possible the most disappointing work I've contracted. Damage done then ask the client to pay for it? Leave, only to return due to original fix leaking then try to charge the client for repairs? Then start the repair and cause more damage? Then called and left my information with management to get a call back. Nothing. Not to mention I called another company for the work then this company shows up - not setting the expectation that they contract work out for others. Should have been a $12 failed wax ring if I completed the work. If I would have paid what was asked it would have been $900+. Do your research....

Excellent workmanship and prompt response on large basement plumbing job. All of the plumbers and technicians they sent were professional and courteous. Glenn Roeder was the best of a great group of employees. Would recommend them to others.
I needed my water pressure regulator replace due to low water pressure at my home. I called to make an appointment and one of the plumbers came the very next day and made the necessary repairs. Very responsive.

While your price was higher than expected, the value of the video report and being able to see where the cast iron pipe had roots growing into it will help make decisions. Your technician, Silvio, was neat and cleanly dressed and cleaned up after his work. He informed of all he was doing and answered my questions. The use of the electrical signal finder to determine where the problems in the cast iron pipe were located in my basement floor again added to my confidence and evaluation of your service. Now instead of wondering why I may have to call for unblocking of the sewer line, I know that there is a repairable solution. With the written estimate for the pipe repair I can make decisions based on good information
1) I WILL NEVER EVER USE MR. ROOTER PLUMBING FOR ANYTHING AGAIN!
2) I used Mr Rooter because they were recommended and thought they were honest.
3) They charged me over $500.00 for a one hour job to replace a three inch copper pipe.
(99% labor)
3) Their estimates are not free.
4) I later found out that Angi would guaranteed the repair for $282.00 with up to 2 hours of
labor.
5) So I paid ALMOST DOUBLE TO MR ROOTER for the job. Ppp
I recently needed a plumber to come out on a Sunday afternoon to deal with a running water issue that I could not stop. Mr Rooter was quick to get a plumber to my house. The plumber was professional and explained what the situation was, and then resolved it for us.

It would be a BIG mistake to call this company for anything. Big time
scammers. They only want your money. Their mission statement is a
complete lie. Fair and honest they are not. After my wife paid $185
to replace a pee trap, I could not get ahold of any one to discuss my issue's.
As asked for the managers name and they could not give it to me. I went to
the office and no one answered the door. Once they got my money they said see you later sucker. Don't call Kirkwood Plumbing or Mr. Rooter. Its the God's truth. Big time scammers.

These guys were very good to deal with. They came out within a day of contact to give an estimate and stayed in contact with us to come back and finish the job the day it was ready for their end. I was impressed with Eric, Garrett and the guys with them. It wasn't at all inexpensive but they were fair and very courteous and professional for the entire process, answering and explaining all questions. Definitely would work with them again.
Thank you Mike of Mr. Rooter for saving the day! My drains are flowing once again and you guys cleaned the mess, to boot. Thanks for the great service! I put you on my phone contacts.
