We know you've seen them before; we have too. That's right, a family of penguins traveling around St. Louis. No I'm not talking about penguins crossing the street or the penguins at the St. Louis Zoo; I'm talking about the Classic Aire Care vans. Classic Aire Care's van with the family of penguins is easily one of the most recognizable vehicles in St. Louis. With over 60 vans and trucks on all of St. Louis' highways, the brightly colored orange and yellow vehicles are hard to miss. From all angles, our penguins are displayed proudly. In addition to the penguins, our vans display the names of our legacy companies. Our family of companies include Ryan Heating, Donahue Heating and Air Conditioning, Schneider Services and South County Heating and Air Conditioning, now all part of the Classic Aire Care family. The orange and yellow as well as the penguin family are important to show our customers that our company operates under one umbrella and one management team. Other than just being a cute mother penguin and her two babies, this penguin family is one of the first things any other driver sees and speaks volumes as to what Classic Aire Care is all about; family. Typically, you'll see one dealership purchase one or two other dealerships. What Larry has done is combine seven, said Mike Mascia, a St. Louis territory manager for Lennox Industries. Dalton's model is unusual. On each purchase, Dalton has to absorb what another individual built up, and that can be a lot to manage, Mascia said.

Others have tried to consolidate, but these are hands-on businesses, hard to manage from afar, Dalton said.

Part of Classic Aire's strategy is to operate under the trade names of four of the businesses now part of the company: South County Heating & Air Conditioning, Donahue Heating & Air Conditioning, Pro-Tech Comfort Systems and West County Mechanical. The residential customers who generate about 65 percent of Classic Aire's revenue don't usually see the Classic Aire name. But Classic Aire's vendors, who sell directly to the holding company, know it.

I had been with Donahue for many years until they were taken over by Classic in 2005. Since then I've had maintenance contracts with Classic. They've served my needs well over the years, being always on time and getting the work done efficiently. All repairs are explained fully and their charges seem reasonable. For a large job in the winter, as when my tandem furnaces had to be replaced and the duct work revised, they made sure I was without heat for as short a time as possible. My only complaint is that when a non-urgent problem was identified they said they would get back to me with a proposal, but I had to take the initiative to get them on it. When I did, they responded promptly with their usual efficiency. For that I held back one star, but only because I couldn't hold back half a star.

Worst experience as far as I remember. My furnace was out so I called in my regular guy, he found what the issue was and said call Classic Aire Care if it's still under warranty given CAC installed them. I called CAC and asked if this is still under warranty before they sent anyone here, was told by their customer service rep it was. Let the maintenance guy in, he examined and said it's not under warranty, gave a ridiculously high estimate to repair and suggested replacing furnace. My guy did it for half the cost. Now I have to pay this service visit cost. Train your people to check the facts and know your customers, don't treat your customers like billable projects and get excited rushing out your maintenance crew to charge.

Update - I am pleased to say that Classic Aire Care righted my situation.  I received my check back int he mail.  The response said they went back and listened to the calls and heard that I was told there would not be a charge for the first visit.

Overall this company did a good job with my plumbing needs.  The reason for the three stars, being mislead on the cost of a service call.  When I set it up, I was told a drain tech would come out and there is no charge for a drain tech.  He would let me know if a plumber was needed.  A plumber was needed, came out in a few days, fixed the issue and I paid for the visit and service.  Then I received a bill for the initial drain tech visit.  When I called, they said it ended up being a plumber who came out the first time and I had to pay the service charge $69.  Well, I did pay it but won't use this company again because they have lost credibility in my eyes.

This place is a joke and they run nothing more then a complete scam business.

I called Classic Aire Care along with a few other places to fix a problem I was having with my home. After having a person named Jim come by and take a look at everything he says it will be $4200 to fix, after going talking it over I decide to have them fix my issue, I give them a $1000 down payment and they came by a few days later, after having them at my house all day long, they do not fix the problem yet the decide to leave anyway. I call and complain a few days later when they never came back only to be told they can come back in a few days later and finish up. After they came by to finish up I realize that everything they supposedly said needed fixing, actually didn't need fixing! My problem with my heat still existed!

After calling to complain about nothing working right, they came out a few days later and said they fixed everything and I owe them the balance of $3200, I told the guy there was no way I was paying $3200 and hope that everything was working. I gave him 1/2 and said you get the other half when my problem is fixed. Well guess what the problem with my heat still persists and Classic Aire Care won't call me back!!!!! I paid $2600 to have them fix my heat and they did not do that! Then I get a bill in the mail for the additional $1600!

This place is a joke and is a con business, do not go there, do not call them and do not have them come to your house to pretend to fix anything

I recently had one of their plumbers come out to do some work on my home. It's easy to tell when someone is giving you straightforward, honest info/diagnosis versus someone trying to sell. The plumber there gave me a few possible options on directions to go with the repair rather than sell me services that were overkill or unnecessary.

This company is a rip-off.  The performed less than two hours of plumbing service on a weekday afternoon.  They took advantage of two elderly people and charged $469 for the work.
I caution anyone against using this company.

Their service is excellent. Jim came to my home to fix my garbage disposal. While he was working in the kitchen, noticed that our toilet kept running. So when he finished the garbage disposal, he went right ahead and fixed the toilet. He was professional and pleasant to talk to. Would recommend to a friend.

We had an inspection a couple days ago. The next day mysteriously our AC went out after working fine and being told it was in good condition. Let's see if they do anything to correct this. First time using them, wishing I didn't recommend to my family and friends.

Classic Aire has consistently provided me excellent service on my furnace and a/c.  I purchased my equipment from Ryan, which later became part of Classic Aire.  I am glad to say that the quality of service continues to be great.  I purchase multi-year service agreements, which have saved me a lot of money on service and parts.  I highly recommend this business.

I bought a home in December and in January the heater went out on us. We called Classic Aire because of they had installed the heating and air system back in 2010. As new homeowners: we wanted to stay with the company that knew our HVAC system. The heating repair man was fast and courteous and explained these issue. The HVAC repair person recommended that we purchase a service plan for the HVAC and Plumbing that offers maintenance and inspections. He also stated that the plumbing inspection would be scheduled within a few weeks of sign-up of the contracted service agreement. Several weeks later in February, I noticed water on the floor near the water heater and realized that our water heater safety valve was leaking. We called for a plumber from Classic air and he replaced the safety valve. The next day there was water on the floor again leaking from the safety valve that was just replaced. Again the plumber came out and replaced the safety valve again citing possibly a bad replacement valve(understandable). Again, water on the floor. Though he had tested the expansion tank, he recommended replacing the tank at an additional cost. A day later, valve is leaking again. The same plumber came out a third time and said the air pressure needed to be adjusted in the expansion tank, which he did and by this time I had my doubts as to the abilities of this plumber. A week later and the valve is still leaking...Mind you, I had to pay for 2 separate calls and installation of expansion tank and valves, though I was not charged for the other 2 calls. This time a senior plumber was called out and I was told that the main line pressure regulator needed to be replaced. This was now going to cost me an additional cost for parts and labor. My issue is that the first plumber didn't seem to know what they were doing and was just throwing parts at the problem that now cost me close to 1000.00 for a simple problem that should have been fixed for far less as the expansion tank did not need replacement. This should also have been fixed in far few house calls or by the second time out if not resolved the senior plumber should have been called out. Also, when I called CS regarding an additional payment due that I received in the mail...even though I paid each time via the plumber visiting by credit card, I was told that my first plumbing inspection would not be done until November.....Sorry, but if I am a new homeowner I would expect an initial inspection like I was told my the original HVAC repairman as I was told. The plumbing service contract was of no value.

We've had 2 sewer backups this year, both on Saturdays.  Classic Aire was referred by a friend so I called them along with several other Plumbing services for help.  They returned my call, arrived and remedied the problem all before I even got a response from any of the other services I called.  They provided the same timely and efficient service on the second most recent backup.   Considering both events took place on a Saturday the charges were reasonable.   Highly recommended.

I had multiple issues with service technicians who were not well trained or professional. Asked for an install of a new smart thermostat in January 2023. The technician seemed confused and spent at least two hours for what should be a relatively quick job. I ended up also getting charged overtime hours because of this prolonged visit. Last month the AC would not turn on (not used since new thermostat installed) , so I called for a follow up. First thing the next tech said (different than first tech) was the wiring of the thermostat was wrong, but then had to spend a lot of time tracing wires. Once rewired the AC compressor would not turn on. Tech #2 left when it got dark, so I had to wait for technician #3 (different again) who came to diagnose on a different day. He told me that ants had overrun my condenser unit panels and that the contact switch was faulty, perhaps because of insect damage. My AC had been working the previous season, but the reason given was plausible and I agreed to a charge of $350 for a new switch which is about a 10-15' install. I was told that parts for AC are very expensive, and felt this is probably an overcharge but worth it have my AC working again immediately. Turns out it didn't solve the problem and I later found the exact same part (same manufacturer, part number etc.) for $15 with a quick google search. The tech left without resolving the issue but told me that the compressor may need  to be replaced, but I should get a second opinion. According to him the compressor had also overheated which made me wonder whether he had done something to push a previously functioning system into failure. He left with the outdoor compressor service panel half attached and a bunch of screws sitting next to it. I called the service manager that week and asked if I could return the switch (with a 100% new identical replacement) for a refund, and was told no, and was given a bunch of excuses for why they marked up the part by more than 2000%. I was done with Classic at that point, but did call a more professional company and the service person was quickly able to identify the capacitor as also failed. It is inexplicable that the Classic tech did not check the capacitor , but at least I was not subject to another predatory charge.

My AC went out on one of those lovely 100-degree days we had in July. It was early evening, right around the time of day that my brick home turns into a brick oven. Classic Aire was great, getting somebody out to me quickly. It was an expensive repair--no doubt, but it's an older unit, and it was after-hours. By signing up for a service plan, I got enough of a discount that the service plan paid for itself, and I still saved a good deal of money.

The kicker, and the reason I dug through my memory banks for my Yelp password, is that the company just called me to say they were reviewing the bill, and the technician mistakenly applied the discount. I should have been eligible for another $160 off. I was already happy customer; now I'm an ecstatic plan-holder. Also, I don't blame the technician at all; he was working in the dark. I'm more just impressed that a company would call me nearly a month later to give me back money.

They weren't the cheapest, but based on previous work they did I went with CAC for my sewer lateral replacement. They said it would take two days and that they wouldn't kill my tree. It took six weeks, they killed the tree, and they don't seem to have even tried to fix the lawn or the planter they destroyed in the process. I might overlook any and all of this, except that they also were completely non-communicative throughout the entire job - I had no idea when people were going to show up and start messing with my sewer, which they started on the ONE DAY I told them to NOT show up.  On the up-side, the sewer IS fixed - But I'll never call them again.

A tree fell on our house and we had to replace one of the a/c units.  I previously used them 7 years ago which then led me to find Averill Heating which CA bought last year.  I used them begrudgingly with the same poor results.  No customer service, just kind of a joke.  The nice guy that installed the a/c couldn't get it to work and after a few lengthy phone calls the next day a former Averill employee got it going in 15 minutes.  The guy the day before was here 8 hours and couldn't get it to work.   All they care about is the sale and money.  I'm praying it doesn't break down during the warranty period.  Avoid this place at all cost.   A/c unit does work at this point.

I cannot recommend Classic Aire Care.

They installed a new furnace and air conditioner. In less than two weeks, the system failed. The system appears to be working now, but I am not confident about the purchase going forward.

To get the failed system issue resolved, I called in to their service line (really an answering service) and asked for a service call the next morning and asked for a call in advance of arriving so that I could rearrange my work schedule to accommodate them. Classic Aire Care did not show up the next morning. They showed up well after 2:30 pm. They showed up with no advance warning breaking their promise. In order to get my new system to function, I had to stop working and cancel a meeting with no advance notice to the participants. I am not confident in their service going forward.

When I complained to Classic Aire Care about their service, I received no satisfaction.

After talking with several levels of Support they keep reiterating that they will not do anything substantive to address the issues documented, other than to have the people who did a bad job in the first place come out and look at their own work again. I am baffled at the lack of self awareness of that response. Apparently the term Amends is unknown to Classic Aire Care. A one star rating is reasonable due to the tone deaf response.

If you want to be totally ripped off...call these people.

While they seem to work on creating an image of professionalism, they couldn't be further from it. They are skilled at price gouging in the worst way. I am so dissatisfied, I am thinking about calling a local news station investigative reporter.  $175 per pound for Freon versus the company we moved to that charges $51 per pound. Need I say more.

Update 7/2/18. We complained to their president. A company that cared about customer service would have responded...right? No return call - ever.  Telling everyone I know!

We had a toilet issue. I had ordered a new one from Classic air  for my elderly parents because I could not go the a box store, buy and and get it home. The staff was very professional and instead of just putting the toilet in they felt it might be a drain problem and sent out another tech along with the supervisor to evaluate the issue. Well it ended up that the toilet was needed and this was all completed in 4 hrs and now they have a new working toilet.I highly recommend this company.

Very pleased with Classic Aire Care. My furnace issue was a bit of a mystery; ice was building up in the outside flew, blocking the intake of air into the furnace. This caused the smart switch to time out before the burners could engage. The technicians were extremely thorough and got to the heart of the problem, going through a series of checks until the cause could be traced to the air intake. Unlike so many HVAC companies, they did not walk in the door trying to sell me a furnace.  The tech patiently tested all mechanisms to eventually isolate the problem. Along the way, the tech explained what he was doing so I actually understood! Watching the technician work was science in action! The folks at the scheduling desk are top notch too. They kept me updated on an arrival time and called to let me know the technician was on the way. Will definitely use Classic Aire in the future!

I thought I was calling Faszold but apparently they were bought by Classic Aire.   The person that came out had zero interest in fixing my hot water heater.  Once he saw how old it was he only wanted to sell a new one.

I had bought a new  AC from Faszold because when the person came out to give me a quote he charged my existing unit which needed replacing.  It kept us cool until we could get the new unit installed.  He actually tried to help and that is why I spent the 10K on the new AC/Heater from them.

The person sent out from Classic Aire (was Faszold) was the complete opposite.  He did nothing.

Worst company ever and when I try to pay the guy should have done my payment right the first time. I offered many of times to pay them and they didn't even bothered to take my payment. They gave me a receipt, then called me in September saying payment didn't go through when I had receipt and now they are putting me in collections. Worst company ever and only want money. That guy should have gotten fired then or trained better to do the job right while putting payment through.

Classic  Are Care  is very  good  provider  for  plumbing  ,heating  and  Air  conditioning.  they  also  have  reliable,  well  trained  men  who  can  service  your  boiler  for  hot  water  heating.

Called up Classic Aire Care when i heard RotoRooter's astronomical estimate. They were out here within 2 hours of the call. The coolest part is I received a text message with a photo of the technician (John Perry, 5 Stars) and a little bio for him. He was finished within the hour. Everything has been emailed to me. very seamless process. I will be calling Classic Aire Care in 2 years when the tree in the front yard gets a little big and inevitably causes the same issue.

Very professional team that repaired boiler pipes for my radiant heat that were cut when the floor was dug open to repair a collapsed sewer line. (Yeah major undertaking!) Will have them back yearly to clean my boiler.

I was in St Louis visiting my Mom when the heat quit working. I call these guy and they got us on their schedule right away. When they showed up the guy gave several options depending on price and how long she may live in the house which I thought was great. There was no pressure just good info.

Started with Ryan Heating & Cooling years ago.  Was apprehensive when they sold, but the service has only gotten better since.  Quick to respond, diagnose and recommend solutions.  I appreciate their no nonsense approach and never feel pressured to buy anything, but do feel informed of my options.

Have used this firm for many years (even before the merger).  They are my go to company for HVAC and Plumbing service and repairs for home as well as for my real estate business.  Prices have crept up recently, but they are always fair and reasonable and complete the work as they have quoted.  I had to patch the drywall after a shower valve replacement, but I understand this is outside their scope of work.  I will definitely use them again.

Recently had my annual furnace check and was satisfied with the experienxce and also the technician.  They are my new furnace and airconditioner company as my other longtime company(25+ yrs) went out of business.  So far, I've been happy with customer service people as well as technicians.  Really a 4.5 out of 5 as I believe no company is perfect/serving of 5 stars.

I have used this company for over 4 years at both my home and business.  Both places have a root problem.  I contacted this company on a Saturday afternoon, no questions asked about price for weekend.  There is only 2 people that at this house.  We have two separate main drains so we do not always use that same drain.  It is now a little over 50 hours and it has backed up again.  Guess what no guarantee on tree roots.  REALLY!!!  I don't expect it to be guaranteed for very long, but within 3 days yes I would think for a regular customer of two locations.   I am a business owner, this would never happen.

We had a major black water incident due to sewer backup in our basement.  Discovered it early on a Saturday morning.  Was referred to Classic by friends.  Within a few short hours they had arrived, taken care of the problem and helped me find the access in our front yard which had been long buried. I had called several other plumbers for help and didn't get a response from most until many hours later.  Classic Aire responded quickly, were thorough, professional and considering the scale of the job I thought reasonable.  I would definitely recommend their services.

Our previous company (Harster) is now run by Classic Aire. So our maintenance agreement is now with CA. Back in May (yeah, I know that's a bit late), I tried scheduling our annual spring/summer maintenance, and the earliest they could get to us was mid-August. This is something we already paid for, so we were at the mercy of their schedule. I need to find a company who has more availability on their schedule. CA's timeline is ridiculous.

Extremely effective at price gouging. Are more interested in marketing than customer service. Asked several times to be removed from their list - with no success.
Had to replace a unit we purchased from them just after warranty expired. They handled the situation very poorly.
Ended up going with Scott Lee. What a positive difference!! High integrity and very honest.

Called and tried to set up an appointment for next day because my air is out and it will get to 95 tommorow. Was told they could not give me an estimated arrival time olny between 8 to 5. This is understandable had my wife take off to meet the technician was told we would get a 30 minute notice.  My other house is 35 minutes away where we would be moving our dog and my wife to get away from the heat to wait for the technician to arrive.  Asked if it would be okay if my wife was 5 minutes late. Was told no that will not be okay our technician will leave if your wife is not there. I responded with is there anyway that I could get a little more notice then to make sure my wife can meet the technician. No that is not possible our technician will leave if no one is home and that is standard practice in the industry. Offered to pay the technician untill we arrive which would olny be 5 minutes later. No sir he will leave no matter what. I have been a service electrician for over 10 years this is not standard practice and is not how you treat a customer who is bending over backwards to use your service. I will tell everyone I know not to use this place anymore.

My family and I have used Classic Aire for a long time, but this is the LAST TIME.  From beginning to end, trying to arrange for a Spire required repair we have been given to uninformed employee to less informed employee again and again.  Called and immediately had agreement for someone to come.  Three hours later--no visit. We called and they told us that we would need one of their pipe fitters, not one of their HVAC guys and that the rate was nearly double (service call less, but hourly rate much higher).  I asked why they didn't call us when they realized--again, we waited 3 hours (we had a lot to do to prepare for a an international trip and were very busy).  They just blamed it on the person who took the original call not understanding and that they should have called.  We were down the rabbit hole at that point, so we arranged for the appointment with the pipefitter.  We let them know that they would need to call me, not my husband.  They documented my number, but moments after we got off the phone, they texted my husband regarding the appointment change.  We called them back and explained that they were still contacting the wrong number.  Then, it happened AGAIN.  We straightened it out and actually removed my husband's number from our account so it wouldn't happen again.  The day of the appointment, on my drive to my house from work, I get an angry phone call from someone at Classic Aire yelling at me that I had failed to check my messages the last two days. I told her that I was not aware that she had called, that we were planning for an international trip and that I had been getting a lot of robo-calls.  She then continued to pound me that I failed to listen to my messages and that she listened in on the phone call when the appointment was made and that I said that I would keep my phone with me so that I would get their call; I replied by saying, Yes, on the day of the appointment, but I didn't think you meant I would need to keep my phone with me at all times for the last week while we waiting for the appointment day.  (Besides, they could have texted me, which they obviously knew we were getting).  Regardless, she then informed me that our 3 o'clock appointment rate would double at 4:30 p.m and she wanted to know if I still wanted someone to come.  ????  I asked her why they would have ever made an appointment with me at 3:00 o'clock (assuming they even showed up on time) when the rate would double in 1.5 hours.  Well, that's why I was calling you! she barked. I could not believe her tone.  So, I said, Clearly, you find me really bothersome and don't want my business.  She said, No, I just want to know if you want this guy to still come out--he is waiting to hear from me!  I just said, No thank you and hung up.  

Let me add that the last project they did for us left our yard completely torn up and not even mowable.  They just said it wasn't their problem because our yard was too steep.  Oooooook.  I guess Classic just doesn't need people's business anymore.  They can clearly pick and choose who they provide quality customer service, too, and who they do not.  I don't recommend them.

Hard to believe any of the reviews. Our second floor unit failed and a tech came a week ago Monday and said it needed a relay. 7 days later I had to make numerous calls to get someone to respond. Then they said part will come tomorrow. A part came on day 8 but not the right part. So I guess we are back of the line again. At least it warmed back up this coming week.

New system installed 4 years ago by Classic Aire. This may be the end of this relationship.

Don't use Classic Aire Care/Faszold! I called them to do ac service a couple weeks ago. Tech says outside unit isn't to dirty but I'm missing 3lbs of freon. It will cost $500 to replace and $100 per hour to look for the leak. Tech was Brian. I had had ac on couple times already and no issue. I got Johnson Heating & Cooling over and they said no problem, no missing freon. Johnson had installed system 14 years ago. I called Faszold because of $90 dollar service. At least Brian didn't let freon out of my system! Don't use Classic Aire Care/Faszold!

I have used Classic Aire Care for multiple issues.  Air Conditioning, plumbing and furnace.  

My most recent encounter was for a clogged drain.  They were there within a few hours and quickly fixed the problem for a reasonable price.  In the past, I called them when my hot water heater malfunctioned and water was spilling out and of course, this was later in the evening (around 9) on a Sunday.  The gentleman that came within an hour was very knowledgeable and quickly stopped the water flow.  He showed me the damage to the heater.  Next day, my new one came in and I was impressed at how much care he took to make sure the lines were clear and the heater was correctly installed.  He was my hero that day.  

Highly recommend this company for plumbing, air and furnace issues.  I will definitely be a return customer.

Outstanding service today! HVAC system replacement was needed. Same day appointment!  Matt was by far the best tech I have used. He was very thorough and explained everything, went above and beyond with what I expected. I was very impressed with their professionalism and level of service.  The informative text message before arrival, including a profile picture and information about Matt, reassure me, he is reliable and trustworthy with his knowledge of the units, prices etc.    for this family owned company!
