Former employee. They lied to me and told me they didn't qualify as a business who had to pay  sick pay when I was sick with covid 19. I found a new job and contacted department of labor who made APW pay me. I worked really hard for this company and was totally screwed over by them. Unethical business procedures as well.

Really disappointed in this company.  Although the gals are very polite and seemingly helpful, the actual results in work attempted are very unreliable and extremely slow.  No one should wait days, have service time changed because they ordered the wrong replacement.  My time is a valuable as theirs.  Not one offer of compensation.  Calling my warranty company to have them removed as a service provider.

Very helpful and knowledgeable employees from the customer service tech to the technicians that come out to the home. I will definitely be using the company again.

Great install and a great price equals a great value!  Jamie was very informative and educated us so we could make a good decision for our family.  Our home feels great and we would recommend to anyone!  Thanks APW!

This is hands down the worst customer service I have ever received. I called the company when I noticed my system was struggling, they came to look at it, charged me hundreds of dollars and said nothing was wrong with it. A week later I come home to a 90 degree house and a totally broken machine. They won't even schedule me to come back to take another look at it for 6 days!! I don't have anywhere to go, it's 102 degrees out and this company has no compassion or sense of responsibility for their own failure to fix the issue in the first place! I'm disgusted with this company.

Beware!! This company is a scam. I was assigned APW by my home warranty company. I was initially pretty excited since I'd had seen them on TV. They came out and immediately started saying I needed this and that and that my home warrenty wouldn't cover unless I paid them. I paid them $350 that day. I had a gut feeling I shouldn't have. They then said parts need to be ordered and they would get back with me. I called them a week later and they well forgot to order the parts and would get them ordered right away. Couple weeks passes so I called them again and they said well we couldn't read the part numbers so we couldn't order the parts and would call me with next steps when they clearly wrote down the items that were needed at my house. They called last week (of course after I had been calling) and said I needed to pay them $1500 directly because my warranty company wouldn't pay for a new furnace. I called the warranty company and they said they should have NEVER asked me for money. All repairs go through them. I started to dig deeper into this company to do if these were practices they had been involved in before and sure enough it was a common compliant! These people aren't trustworthy- they will scam you out of your money and then ignore messages from you! I'm posting pictures of some of the complaints I found online. My initially request was on Nov. 8th and 4 weeks later we still didn't have a working furnace upstairs. Hope my review prevents someone from being taken advantage of.

I had a leak coming through my dining room ceiling 9/12 that was located from my shower tub in my bathroom upstairs. I have Select Home Warranty , and they set me up with APW.
The first appointment 9/16 they didn't show up. When I finally got an answer, I was told that they accidentally put it between one and 3 AM instead of p.m. so at that time I was set up with a new appointment the next Tuesday 9/20. I still hadn't had anyone come, so I called the office and they were having a hard time finding my appointment , after being totally pissed off, they did have somebody come out an hour later than what was scheduled but at least they were there.
Tyler told me that they would send in the estimate to the warranty company and as soon as they got everything cleared they would be back out to fix my bathtub plumbing. I received a email from my warranty company on 24 September saying that they have not heard from the plumbing company and have received nothing from them. So I gave them what little information I had. On 27 September, APW reached ouch to say that they called my warranty company to give them their estimate at the time I didn't realize that my estimate didn't have labor included so I was given an in accurate idea on how much my job was going to cost.
Last Friday 10/7 I was contacted saying that they had received information from the warranty company and that they need to schedule an appointment, which we set up for 10/13 between the hours of 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
After my difficulty with appointments, I called at 12:05 on the 13th to make sure that I was still going to have someone come out. I was informed that they had become MPV heating cooling plumbing and that they were no longer taking warranty jobs and they didn't have anything on the books for today and that I needed to get a hold of my warranty company . I do not know if becoming MVP will improve their service or not but I wish you luck.

This is a woman owed business and I was connected with them through my 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty. They were able to provide extremely quick service,  my entirely new HVAC system was installed 2 days after I met them and they provided several upgrades, discounts, and promotions. They provide easy financing.   After installation,  they do a post installation walk through to answer any questions and double check their work.  If you use their biannual service agreement (included for the first year at no cost) ,  they also provide a 12 year warranty!  They even sent me a thank you gift of cookies and a vacuum insulated cup!

This company did not follow procedures with our warranty company in inspecting and installing our new HVAC. We were told they would file a report and we pay up front then get reimbursement. They never filed a report and now them and Cinch Home Services are refusing to help or acknowledge that we were told wrong and lied to, and we are out 10,000. SPW and Cinch Home Services are a scam!

Steer clear! Beware!  Unprofessional technicians and they commit FRAUD in order to make an extra buck from you.  Save yourself time, money and a headache and go somewhere else.  On top of my negative experience, when I told them I would be writing a review to reflect what I thought of them and their service, they called me back immediately and offered me $300 dollars refund  (on the service I paid for that I didn't actually need) if I would provide them a 5-star review.  After much thought, I decided that it wasn't worth the money.  I think that you should take any 5-star reviews for APW with a grain of salt.

Among the list of things that were negative with APW:
* With completely normal water pressure readings, they insisted that I needed a pressure regulator valve.  They first quoted it at $300.  I politely declined.  Then the told me that the other repairs would not be covered by the home warranty company if I didn't install this valve.  Then it was quoted at $600.  Conveniently the same amount that the other repairs (tub spout leaking when shower head engaged) would have cost me if my home warranty didn't cover them.
* The technician visited my house on 2 separate occasions.  On both occasions he asked to use the bathroom after he had shut off the water.  He took a dump in my bathroom both times and allowed it to fester until he turned the water back on at the end of his visit.
* Upon completing the repairs, there were wrappers and trash from the parts left all over my bathroom.
* The women in the office are also very difficult to work with.  The technician is standing in front of you telling you one story and when you call them, they're telling you a different story.  Super frustrating.

My experience with APW plumbing was through my home warranty company who assigned me to APW.  If you have the same misfortune, call your home warranty company and demand a different plumbing company assignment.

My home warranty company referred me to APW, and I'm sorry they did. Absolutely the worst experience with a trade that I have had in my 43 years of existence. I just wanted my shower to stop leaking and my toilet to stop running randomly.

Instead it turned into a shower valve, a toilet flapper and a pressure regulator valve (PRV). The home warranty would only cover the flapper and the PRV. I wanted that work done.

So I was left to pay for the shower valve. APW was unwilling to fix the shower valve (rebuild replacing the parts that wear out) as they were going to do when the home warranty may have covered it. After that was denied, they now say I needed a new valve. That would cost  $125 to open up the wall, $400+ for the new valve and installation. Would they fix the wall afterwards? Patch the hole? Drywall mud the seam? Paint to match? No. For $125 all I get is a hole in the wall.

I scheduled two appointments to get the PRV and flapper replaced. Both appointments were cancelled. One cancelled 30 minutes -after- the scheduled time (after I'd taken off from work and was at home). The next time they called and left voicemail (minutes before their office closed) saying they didn't order parts and were unable to keep the appointment for the next day. When I called back the next day, no one in the office could even attempt to resolve things. I had to wait 4 hours until the one member of the office staff who knew the situation came in. Turns out they were waiting on the parts for the shower valve -- work neither I nor the Home Warranty company approved. But they could no longer keep the appointment -- again after I had already taken off from work.

Now they have hung up on me. They have stopped returning my calls. And after 29 days waiting to have one valve and a toilet flapper replaced -- the home warranty company conferenced called us and the best they would offer is another day off of work and a new appointment that I certainly don't trust them to keep. I might be an idiot (sometimes), but I'm not stupid. Thankfully, the home warranty company referred my claim to a different plumbing company who will be here on Tuesday. (gawd, I hope).

Needless to say, I will never deal with APW again, nor will the people where I work who have heard the whole event through my phone calls. I signed up with Yelp simply because --no one-- should have to go through what I've been through with APW. I strongly suggest you look elsewhere.

Had them come in for a service call.  I paid them over the phone.  A month later I was looking through my credit card statement and noticed they charged me again 5 days after the initial charge.  I called the company to have them credit me back the second charge and they said they would call me back.  I ended up calling them since they didn't call me back within an hour.  They said they were short staffed and didn't have time to check into it.  Eventually they call me and said they only show the initial charge.   Really????   I'm just making it up from my credit card statement, right?  I called my credit card company to dispute, but in the meantime, why are they keeping my credit card number handy?   Time to get a new credit card number now.  I don't trust them.

I had APW come out to evaluate leaking shower faucet.   The cause was determined and found out part had to be ordered since it was not in stock.  After trying several times to put faucet back to where we started with a very very slow leak the leak became worse.  Several attempts to fix it and he finally thought it was fixed.  He left and I was billed 125$ which I paid.  The shower slowly overnight began to leak more.  Before it was a slow leak that I noticed only by wet grout around shower that was going on few weeks never getting worse. Now I had major leak   I called the next day and was told no plumber on Saturday available.  I went to hardware store and capped off shower head to stop leak and was told that someone would call me Monday.  No word from them all week.  Very frustrated with service. I was billed $125 to make leak worse and no response from them.  I ordered replacement part from kohler directly at no cost(great customer service there) and may fix it myself since they told me it would be another 125$ to come out and replace   Wow.

Josue & Issac were very professional from the time they stepped into my home until the time they stepped out. Loved that they showed up in a mask, as safety is number one right now. They even had overshoes! Everything was just great. Thank you so much. I will definitely call on this company again & refer APW to family & friends.

Worst Plumber Service EVER....especially if you have a home warranty.  My mom's hot water tank blew up on Christmas complete with flooding in the basement.  It's now 11 days later and she still has no hot water.  Caught the manager Mike in lies on multiple occasions, then when I called him out on it, he got an attitude complete with a condescending tone.  Simply asked him to look at his calendar for scheduling options, but refused to until he got approval for the home warranty.  Wait...he also tried to charge us $600 additional for some code requirement.  Called a friend, and they told me that getting a new hot water heater only cost's $800 installed.   Can you say Rip Off Alert!!!!  Made an already hard Christmas even harder.  Run far far away from APW if you need any plumbing service.

This company is one of the biggest scams in the Kansas City area.  They have tremendous turn-over with technicians and salespeople because their employees are constantly forced to lie to customers.
Even their Yelp reviews are scams now.  Look below at the (2) 5-star ratings they received.  Both on the same day from different people, but both are listed as San Francisco.  So what are the chances that 2 people from San Francisco both had a Kansas City company run service calls for them for two unrelated issues??  Give me a break.
If you can do yourself 1 favor in your life, don't ever call this company for any plumbing or heating and air service.

APW sent a representative to our home who is a convicted thief - currently on probation for it.  We now have Jewelry missing.   Initially we contacted Keith (the operations manager) who told us he would do everything he could to help us.  He also gave us APW's insurance information and outlined the process we needed to follow.  While we were at the AWP office, we also found out a detective in Lenexa had also recently visited the office to investigate this same AWP representative. Apparently a woman in Lenexa is also claiming this APW representative stole jewelry from her during his visit (a few days apart).   After a discussion with APW's insurance, they told us APW is not insured for employee theft - even though APW clears states on their web site that they are bonded and insured.  My wife called Dixie (owner) and Dixie clearly stated she will not pay or make us whole. A police report has been filed and a detective in Lee's Summit is investigating this APW representative.  This APW representative has quite a record.  I would DEFINITELY not use APW again.

5-28-15
Wanted to provide an update.  We went after both APW and the individual who stole from us in court and the individual who stole from us consented to pay us $3,800 and agreed to have this entered as a judgement.  It has been over three months and we have not received a dime.  What also came out in court is that APW admitted that they KNEW this person was a convicted thief and hired him anyway.  Hence, I want to restate my original claim and amend it to read that, APW knowingly and willingly hired a convicted thief and then sent him to our house.  Jewelry was then missing and the person who we accused of stealing it from us has agreed to pay us but has not.  APW refuses to accept any responsibility.  Bottom line:  As a result of hiring APW, I  am out $3,800.

Came out for two different issues with my HVAC first time said the coils were too dirty to diagnose the issue (a straight lie) second was for my heat exchanger on my furnace missed cracks in it which could've put my family in danger. Both of these issues were handled by other obviously more competent people do not use this company in any case at best they'll screw you over at worst they'll kill your kids.

Doing business w/ APW is bad for you

I have an Ionics water filter.

APW told my wife that they are the only game in town.
I say this because I've seen many other reviews that say the
same thing. That is a lie. I called Puronics at (844) 707-8507,
and they were more than happy to refer me to someone else. I
strongly recommend that if you are reading this, that you call
that number, and find another company.

I read online that it shouldn't cost more than $265 to have
the crystals replaced in it. APW charges me $305. The technician
that just came out told me that the valve needs to be replaced.
After my wife came home, she told me they just replaced it in
2010. They quoted me $365 for the replacement, and said that
it's covered by warranty, but that's my cost. He stated that
the valve needs to be replaced every so often, and the age of it
is why it needs to be replaced. He also left the unit in
bypass mode, and told me that if I put it in service mode that
it would blow up, because there's chunks in there. After
contacting a representative from another company, I found out
that this isn't the case. He told me the worst that would
happen, is it would leak water. Sounds like a scare tactic
to me. I called APW back about the prior replacement, and the
technician told me that the valve went bad because the pipe
isn't grounded.

Also, in 2010, the technician told my wife that the valve went
bad because she wasn't using the solar salt. That is also not
true. This water filter will take any kind of salt, except for
rock salt.

So I went to the basement, and the pipes are grounded. I called
APW back, and spoke with Ashley. She told me that they have
to test the system for iron to see if the ground is bad, and
that they can't diagnose that over the phone. I told Ashley
that he did in fact diagnose it over the phone, and she
immediately claimed that it was our lack of maintenance that
caused the valve to go bad.

APW told my wife long ago that they call us to schedule the
appointments, and we don't call them. Ashley would not listen
to me when I tried to tell her that, and has steamrollered me
ever since about how it is our fault. After doing some research
online, I see that for 2 people in the house, the filter only
needs to be done every 3-5 years. Also, APW put a sticker on
the side of my filter in 2002. On that sticker, it states the
filter was done in 12/2002, next scheduled date is 12/2005. It
was done again in 11/2005, and scheduled again for 11/2007.
That sticker was filled out by their employees. That doesn't
sound like a lack of maintenance on our part to me. I also
noticed that after 2007, they quit filling the sticker out
as well.

After several requests to speak to her manager, Ashley offered
to take $100 off of the replacement. I told her that's not good
enough, and I'd like to speak to her manager. She then offered
to do the work for $177.50. I told her again that I'd like to
speak to her manager. After about a dozen phone calls, and
almost 2 months later, I have not been able to get her
manager, Keith, on the line. Ashley did put me through to leave
a voice mail for him, but his mail box was conveniently full.
I have told Ashley that I'd be willing to pay what they pay for
the valve, and that is it. I requested an invoice showing their
cost. Ashley stated that that would be very irregular, and nobody
does that. Do you think they would hesitate to prove the cost to
me if the $177.50 is really what it cost them? I doubt it. At this
point, I hold little hope that Keith will ever call me back. I
told Ashley I was going to file this complaint online. Ashley's
response was that threatening them is not good for a business
relationship. I wonder if she thinks their scare tactics
and misinformation are good for our relationship???

At this point, I think I'd rather pay someone else full price
then to ever let APW back in my home again. I strongly
recommend that you don't do business with APW. Clearly they
are not willing to take responsibility for this valve. It
didn't go bad because of a lack of maintenance, and I don't think
me wanting to  discuss the situation with them is being unreasonable.

I also don't think I should have to do the amount of research I've
done to double check what they are telling me. They have lied to me
and my wife time and time again. Shame on you APW! Oh, and Ashley,
you really need to work on your listening skills, and quit interrupting
your customers when they are trying to speak. I refuse to speak over
her or anyone. I'll just take the conversation to a different forum
if I'm not being heard.

Our furnace wouldn't come on so we called Our home warranty company the sent out APW the Tech came out, I showed him to the utility room, he looked (with his eyes) at the furnace and said why was this not replaced when your new air conditioner was installed in July?  I replied because it's only 5 years old...why would we?   I felt like he just wanted to sell me a new furnace instead of repairing the furnace.  Sure enough he said the circuit board was shot, blower was shot blah blah blah and said I needed a new unit $2,200.  Then he reported to my home Warranty co that all damage was due to construction damage so they wouldn't cover anything.  So my husband called Case heating and cooling......guess what....he said the circuit board was shot BUT it was still under Warranty with Goodman and they are located in Olathe and he would go their and pick it up.  It is working great . Don't call APW crooks

I'm so dissatisfied with the work that has been done on my shower faucet. This has been an ongoing process for several months with repeated recalls to fix what another technician destroyed. Cliff was amazing and took care of the Initial problem and repaired it perfectly with one small drizzle a leak that needed caulking at the access panel. But another technician who I advised to just caulk the area decided to disassemble the whole Faucet and with each attempt it is worse than it originally started. This technician made a waterfall come through my ceiling by not reconnecting whatever he took apart. My carpets were soaked As well as the insulation in between the walls. I was told I would get a call from someone about the damages no one has called and the faucet is still not flushed against the wall they have continue to put glue to the area instead of actually adhering the spout against the wall or the faucet handle. Carrie in the office gave me attitude like it is my fault each technician forget to apply or put something back on correctly. They were here 4/19/21 and still did not fix the problem. It has been 12 attempts to fix with multiple technicians. If your home warranty should suggest them call and ask for another service. Report to BBB, and your local attorney general.

TOTAL RIP OFF!!! Needed a Part for the Toilet,, Tech Wanted $123.00 for he Part + $80 in Labor , I Have No Problem Paying for the Technicians Time, but the Price of the Part Seemed Very High,, In the End i Bought the Part at a Local Hardware Store for $9.00 and did the Repair Myself {took 20 minutes}  The Technician Tried to Justify the Cost of the Part Saying it is Standard MARK UP:  What Kind of Mark Up Turns a $9.00 Part that i Paid for Retail Price for, Justifies $123???, if the Technician Simply Raised his Labor Cost, I Might have Agreed to the Price of the  Repair {But After Doing the Work Myself, i Now Know that that Would be To High a Price to do this Simple Job} ***** Unless you Have No Choice or Just Won the Lottery STAY AWAY

Needed my hot water tank replaced recently and they quoted the 40 gallon electric tank would run $1,127 alone. My home warranty would cover the tank itself, but I needed the APW filter, a new pressure valve, a condenser tank, a water softener (which they quoted 2, at $2,995 & $3,995), and also, my warranty would cover the replacement of the toilet flapper the needed replaced, which he said was $52.
My total came out to $5,500+. They told me they'd finance me for 120 months. Bottom line, they are extremely over priced, and you're almost guaranteed to need something to get into code.
I cancelled everything, went and bought a 50 gallon tank, all the items needed to replace it, a brand new washer and dryer set with warranty for $1,700.

Horrible!! Would not recommend!! Wish I could give zero stars. They were sent out from our home warranty.  The actual problem would have taken only a few minutes to diagnose, a simple leak under the sink, but the tech was here for awhile going around the house to try and sell us all he could! He said we needed a pressure regulator on our main water line, water softener, and wanted us to fix all of the plumbing instead of the small portion that needed to be replaced, the only thing we asked for! They came out on a Monday and we were suppose to get a call within 48 hrs. Two and a half days later I called, only to be placed on hold serval times spanning a total of 15 minutes only to be told they would call me back. The next morning I called again. Again being told they would call back. A few hours later now of Thursday I've called again since no one has returned my call and they tell me they haven't even submitted to my home warranty, which is what the tech said he was doing while sitting in his car. So we are now at the end of the week and I still have a leaking pipe and I'm out 225$.

APW's commercials say they are same day except for Sunday, but call and see if you get help. We called on Labor Day because we had no hot water. They said the earliest  they could get here was Friday. I would have been okay for Tuesday since it it is a holiday. They installed a water heater that has not been up to par. The managers will not take phone calls. After they worked on our shower we had to have another company come out. They found shower parts in our drain.

I too had a deal through my HOA and an appointment scheduled for weeks out.  When they did not show I called to see if they were coming and the response I received was we must have forgotten to call you.  I did reschedule and asked to have the owner Dixie call me.  Later that day I called them again as I had not heard from Dixie.  I finally did get to speak with her and she indicated they did not follow protocol in contacting me.  This must happen a lot.  I also asked Dixie about a post indicating they have a convicted felon working for them after seeing on their site that their service personnel was all back ground checked.  She acted like she did not know what I was talking about.  In our neighborhood website there are many comments from others about no shows etc.  I cancelled and had my money refunded and went with another company matching their offer.  I would not recommend them.

Michael just left my home, and he was very helpful in diagnosing our issue.  He worked through every possibility very thoroughly, kept me informed about what he was testing, and he found an issue that had been previously overlooked.  He was very professional and courteous, and the company's phone operators and scheduling services were top notch -- easily one of the best experiences I've had with a home repair service.  I hope that if my home warranty service has to dispatch plumbers in the future, they choose to work with APW.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS.  1 Star because 0 isn't an option.  Front desk will tell you over and over again that they have your paperwork and will call you back.  Well - they won't and don't.  When you finally get someone out (in our case it took almost three weeks), they tried to way over charge us for Freon to the tune of $400.  We finally got fed up and got someone else in.  Unfortunately all the extra pressure on our other unit running for three weeks alone caused a leak in it too costing us additional repairs.  Wish I had read other reviews first before trying to use.  We're not the only ones.

DO NOT!!! Use these guys. My home warranty company sent them out to replace my hot water heater. They said it would cost over $2200 to replace a 40 gallon gas water heater. The parts were marked up a gazillion %. For example a 3/4 ball valve I can pick up for $20 they charge $169. A expansion tank $314 which is $39 at Home Depot. Dielectric union $129 which is $25 at Home Depot and on an on. I asked them if they would work with me on these prices and they said they were already discounted.

Came out for two different issues with my HVAC first time said the coils were too dirty to diagnose the issue (a straight lie) second was for my heat exchanger on my furnace they missed cracks in it which could've put my family in danger. Both of these issues were handled by other obviously more competent people do not use this company in any case at best they'll screw you over at worst they'll kill your kids.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE. They leave messes, break stuff, lie, and overcharge you. They are rude and incompetent. When you call with a problem it takes forever to get one of their people to even talk to you. They can't keep their story straight. Really bad business.

Still having difficulties with the $12,000 heating and cooling system installed on April 26, 2020.  The system is not 90 days old and the coil is freezing solid.  First employee, Zack, explained the system is not vented well and is causing the coil to freeze solid.  Zack is knowledgeable and very polite and professional.  Zack stated he couldn't address the issue and he was informing his supervisor of the problem and the company would be contacting us that day to schedule a service.  No call came.  Several days later I had to call APW directly.

APW was sent by my home warranty company. They said that my home warranty company would be more likely to replace my system if I paid for a years worth of service. I did this and instead of fixing my A/C, they sent out a comfort specialist who tried to sell me a new system. He quoted me $14,000 for a new system. He claimed my home warranty would only contribute $500. He lied to me repeatedly by saying my system was original to the house (1970) and that some of our intake ducts would have to be replaced. The unit and ductwork was from the 90's. He said that my concrete under the system would have to be cleaned and sanitized, etc. I called and got several other quotes for HALF of their quote. Same size system! I have repeatedly asked for my $189 back. I don't want these people to touch my new system. No luck. Up until today, they have been leaving notes for the person who handles the refunds. Today they called to schedule my service and when I told them everything, they said that they never give refunds.

Our AC went out and we were told to call APW by our home warranty company. We called on Wednesday and they said that some would call us tomorrow. When we did not hear from anyone on Thursday we called them back and they apoligized that they forgot. Finally we received a call and they fit us in (as if it were our fault they forgot to call us) on Friday. When the tech arrived at our home I explained what was going on with the AC. Before even looking at the inside unit he told me that he through it was the coil and then went into a sales pitch about a new unit and that they could use what the warranty company would pay towards one. We told him that we would really like to hear what the warranty company has to say. We felt like we were in a time share meeting from the moment he walked in. Then he stated that he had to sent the paper work into the office and they would take it from there and it could take 24 hours to process and get warranty approval. All other companies that we used in the passed the tech called the warranty company themselves, got approval in about 3 minutes and then fixed the issue. We called the warranty company and they said that they had not received any information from the tech but were ready to handle it as soon as they called. We called the main office of APW but they said that they only have one person that deals with warranty companies and she is really busy so it would be up to 24 not including the weekend. They were out at 2pm on Friday so we were forced to wait until 2pm on Monday. Through the weekend with no AC and 95+ degrees and high humidity. My family and my dogs were miserable but they did not care. After calling Monday and finding out that they still had not put in the paper work we called APW back and were told that they were submitting it as we were speaking. Once submitted we were then told that APW did not have the part that was needed and it was going to take a couple more days to find it.  At this point we were done with them. We fired them and called a company ourselves without the home warranty that we trusted. They came out asap and not only diagnosed the problem but showed us what was wrong. The issue was not the coil as APW told us but was the motor as well as several other parts. APW was more interested in selling me a new system than actually taking care of my family and I as a customer. Not only did they lose all of my business and not only will I never refer anyone to them but I will also vehemently tell people to avoid using them at all. I gave them a 1 star because I can't give them zero.

Contacted this company for warranty service they will referred by general electric when I contacted them they told me they would be out on a certain day they didn't show up. When I called them they said it was canceled by the consumer which I did not cancel it. When I initially called them for warranty service they told me I was expected to pay $125 I told them that being under warranty I was not paying $125 somehow between then and my appointment I was canceled and I'm sure it was because I told him I would not pay $125 for warranty service. Would not suggest this company to my worst enemy.

Referring to my comment from 9/15/2015, APW sent their plumber under false pretense that he will attempt to correct what he did wrong. He came and acted like he was unaware that the faucet valve is taken out by a plumber from BL who came to diagnose why I'm not getting any hot water after the original faucet replacement by APW. So therefore his response was I can not work on the issue that has been diagnosed by another plumber . He and AWP was told numerous times about that by myself and my warranty company. The reason why they send another company to diagnose the problem was because APW would not respond to the return service calls that were placed 3 times through my warranty company.
APW told lies and altered the story conveying deceitful information to me, and my warranty company saying they never got those service calls. Before plumber left he gave me a paper to sign that I should have never signed stating that the reason why he did not want to fix it was that there was no one to shut the water off as I read it after he left. That is another lie on their behalf because my condo manager was right there to shut it off and he told her he will not be able to do the work blaming it on the B&L plumber who helped to diagnose  his mistake.

APW lies through their teeth including their supervisor Ashley. They will make up lies as they go to justify why they are not going to do work that they never finished.

Strongly advise against using APW!!!!!!
If you have a home warranty company, do NOT let them sent you APW, they are clearly a SCAM company that will not hesitate to just LIE  to get out of undoing their CARELESS work.
They even tried to lie that they do not got to Overland Park as the reason to not come back.  I reported then to BBB as well where their ratings are just as bad there as on YELP.

If you enjoy getting phone calls every 2 weeks to a month from a company trying to sell you their service, then this company is for you.  I have asked 6 times now for them to remove me from there system with no luck.  When I ask for a manager they are always busy but promise to call me back.  I'm still waiting.  Good customer service is out the window and they will tell you anything to make you happy, but very poor follow thru.  Consumer Beware.

I'm giving APW 2 star because there has been an unfortunate series of events that has caused my experience with them to be less than enjoyable. This rating is not coming from a disgruntled customer who they inconvenienced by being late or customer service was rude. No. They are getting 2 stars because they did a BAD job installing my new HVAC system. BAD. Really, really bad. The job was so bad, that since installation, I've had to have technicians back out to my house an additional FIVE times to fix things that the original installers completely botched.

If you want the short version of this review, here it is: We hired APW for a completely new HVAC system. We paid $14,000 for a particular package that met our needs after getting quotes from other companies. We were promised a high quality, clean installation and customer service. They take pride in their installation - direct quote from our sales person, Kain. We did not get that. There were holes and gaps left in our furnace, screws that were missing from furnace attachments, drainage pipes that were not attached properly and leaked in multiple places, and a huge mess was left behind. Sloppy is the best way to describe the job they did.

If you hire them, treat this company like a math problem and triple check that they have done the work that was promised and get everything in writing.

Throughout the process I've heard multiple times from the techs who came to fix issues that APW prides themselves on their install BUT we have new guys that don't know our install process. To me that tells me they have a training discrepancy with their install crew. Train your technicians APW because this has been a headache!

On top of all that, one of their tech, Chandler, who visited the house multiple times, broke a vase in my storage room. Now, I'm not mad about that. It was cheap. What I am annoyed about is that I found it a week later HIDDEN under a shelf. Instead of owning the mistake, he brushed it under a shelf to hide the fact he broke it. Come on, man. That reflects poorly on not only you, but your company.

I would give them a zero if I could. Even though we no longer use them to service our water softener. They continue to call us. Today they called and told my wife that they HAD to come out and get our water softener... which we own outright... or they could not take us off of their call list. I had been telling my wife for years that they were scammers. Now she believes me.

DO NOT TRUST APW. I wish I could give less then a 1 star. Very unprofessional office staff, very pushy sales. They promise something and deliver something. Post installation no, sales team will vanish as if they never existed. I got AC, Heater, Tank less water heater, Water softner, humdifier and air purifier installed by them. I wish I should have shopped around more. Firstly they sold it me very very expensive which I realized later, second, they have not yet provided  the invoice or bill of sale to me even after 3 months. And biggest cheating they did that quoted me something else and signed me up for a payment which is 3 times higher than  agreed. I am stuck so can't help myself but will never ever do business with them and will not let my friends and family do it. Yet to experience  how their maintenance and support work but don't have high hopes.

This company is very poorly ran. I had a backup sump pump installed by them 2 years ago, and it stopped working after about 4 months. They have had to come out a total of 5 times since then, and have still not solved the problem.
I have called their office 6 times over the past month, and each one of the operators says that they will be calling me back...I have yet to hear from a single person that said they would call me back.

A few thoughts/comments regarding a recent transaction with AWP.  I was provided them via my home warranty company - American Home Shield (AMS).  AWP was prompt about coming over and providing a thorough quote to replace my hot water heater. Despite having a warranty  to cover the cost of replacement, American requires the home owner to cover the costs of any code required items.  To my surprise, AWP listed over $700 worth of code requirements.  With a $250 HomeShield allowance, this puts me at $450+ out of pocket. The costs AWP provided for the code requirements are grossly overpriced ($314 for an expansion tank - LOL).  AHS provided me an allowance to do myself with my own contractor at $875.  I can install a new unit with all code requirements for $975.  This puts me out of pocket of only $100.  I suspect AWP has a racket and are taking advantage of people.  Buyer Beware.

Home Warranty company choice Home warranty, sent my claim of water heater .. to APW...they came and did a quote for  $1362.80 without the water heater. Then sent a different quote to home warranty. APW is trying to make a big profit off of me. I sent their quote to several plumbers. I got quotes to do it all for $450.00- $600.00 if I buy the water heater. I called them last week, no return call, and again today..still waiting. It's been 14 days since this has started. If they do me right. I will be glad to update this ongoing issue

I scheduled a rep to come out and diagnosis a problem with a specific brand of air conditioner.  I provided the brand during the original call and called back the morning of the appointment with the model and confirmed the brand again.  Received a call later on the appointment day that service technician may be able to come earlier, it was a Friday so I said if he called and gave me 1 hour notice I could be there earlier. I did not get a call so I left work and was at the home for the scheduled 4:00 appointment.  Technician called 15 minutes before scheduled time and said he was actually running 2 hours late and would be there at 6:00 instead of 4:00.  2 hours of work time wasted but I agreed that 6:00 was acceptable.  Technician arrived at 5:45 confirmed that service call was $125 and had me initial work order that I would pay on day of appointment.  Service technician then hosed off back of unit and had me power off unit and informed me that my unit required tools that he did not have, a call to the office was made and they wanted to reschedule another technician for Monday who would have the correct tool.  This rescheduled appointment would require that I miss another 2- 3 hours of work. They would not waive collection of the $125 fee or defer the collection until  Monday when someone would be out with the correct tool.  After looking at other reviews I decided to cut my losses and call someone else.

APW sucks! I have a home warranty and when I need my plumbing or A/C fixed they are the first to get the work order. Not anymore. I have requested that they never get sent out again. It took over two years to figure out that they don't know what they are doing. Our A/C unit is over 20 years old and it has issues every year we turn it on. It leaks water because it has a bad coil and we didn't find out that it had a bad coil until another A/c company told me. APW replaced a fan on the unit a year prior, but nothing was ever done on the inside unit.

This year it was leaking water again and again APW got the work order...the tech came out Monday and diagnosed the problem of a bad compressor...which was correct as confirmed by the new A/C company but APW tried to tell me that my warranty company probably won't want to replace my unit and that I should consider replacing it out of pocket through them. Oh and they also told me that there would be additional charges just to replace the compressor if I didn't replace my unit.

Lies...1. My warranty will replace my old unit with a brand new one and 2020 Freon compliant and 2. The only out of pocket expense is $875.00 versus $1725 out of pocket quote to only replace the compressor.

The other issue is that APW never submitted the work order to my warranty company. I think the reason the tech never submitted the work order is because I didn't just want to buy a new A/c unit out of pocket and that I wanted to wait to see what the warranty company had to say. I had to call twice and after the second call, I asked for another company to come out and I am so glad that I did.

I just had a horrible experience with APW Plumbing, Heating & Cooling. My mom is covered by a home warranty program and APW was referred to her to investigate a cooling problem with her upstairs A/C unit. On the first visit, the tech found that the filter needed to be changed but clearly didn't inspect the rest of the system because the next week the system still wasn't keeping up with the cooling requirements. So they had to be called out a second time. By this time I'd arrived to help her with other stuff and when the APW tech, Tyler, arrived he looked the system over and recommended that the coils be cleaned, but there was some question as to whether it would be covered by the warranty. Mom immediately called the warranty company, but Tyler said that he couldn't wait for EVEN FOR A COUPLE MINUTES while she worked it out with the warranty company. We had to agree to pay them out of pocket immediately or they wouldn't do the work. So let me get this straight: They were supposed to be here at 1 PM but didn't show up until after 4 PM. So clearly it's OK for us to have to wait OVER THREE HOURS for them to show, but once here, they can't wait for FIVE MINUTES for us to get verification? If we had immediately agreed to pay out of pocket he would have been here to do the work, so it wasn't as if they didn't have the time. They simply chose not to give us the chance to decide how it would get funded.

Tyler said that his manager told him repeatedly not to wait, so this is not a matter that applies just to the tech. This is an issue that is endemic to the company. Unfortunately, I was also told by Tyler on TWO different occasions that I couldn't even talk to the manager. Really??? So I told him to leave and thankfully he did.

The truth here is that we would have paid to have the work done regardless because it needed to be fixed. But the fact that he wouldn't wait for even a couple minutes is a fine example of CUSTOMER NO SERVICE. We can wait hours for them, but under no circumstances can they wait a couple of minutes for us. If you're in KC, I highly suggest that you NOT employ this company.
