Professional Plumbing

Was very impressed with the team at Professional Plumbing Sewer and Drain.  I contacted them on Yelp and heard back within 20 minutes with a quote and availability.  They were on-time and communicated well.  When John actually got to the business of cleaning out our sewer drain he was very informative, helped us understand our situation and made recommendations, not trying to over-sell.  It was very clear that they had the best tools and provided the feedback we'd never received from other plumbers we'd used.  In the future we'll definitely look to John, Richard and their team for any needs we have.  Couldn't recommend them fast enough to others.  Great work and value!

Desperate for a plumber (as we had called another plumber who showed up 2 times after the initial consultation not prepared to work and left) We contacted Rich and he contacted us back right away. He was very polite, professional, and patient. The job we had was a difficult one and he was in and out in 2.5 hours. I'm so happy to have some new pipes and not be standing in ankle deep water when I shower. Highly recommend and will contact again for any plumbing needs.

Rick just left.  Very responsive and professional, did a great job and I WILL CALL him again when I need a plumber.

Also, when I requested a quote via yelp he was the only one who provided a qutoe...professional.  (All but one of the others just replied to call them and one said they didn't do sewers.)

Rick has been great to work over the past year on various repairs and improvements. He never tries to oversell us and is great about answering our questions and explaining what he needs to do and why. Glad we found him on yelp and highly recommend him!

Called Rick, (found his firm thu YELP), made an appointment, to get my drains running, he appeared on time and was quite tolerant of our dog.  He asked me a couple of questions about the problem, quoted a fair price, got his power auger and cleared the floor drain.  He ought to be teaching business ethics.
Courteous,reliable, and got the job done.....neatly.

I was at a loss to know who to call for a dishwasher repair that I needed done, so I went on yelp to see if I could find someone. I reached out through the yelp message system and was contacted right away by Richard. He was very courteous and flexible with his time, was even willing to work me in at the very last moment! He came out and fixed my problem quickly and quietly, and was extremely professional. Since everything went so smoothly I didn't know what to except for the bill, but I was very happy to see he was extremely reasonable! Thank you so much, I found my new go to plumber!

I messaged this company during the weekend about a water heater leak.  Richard responded pretty quickly and was able to send a general quote.  He let us know that our water heater would need to be replaced and asked for our number.  That was pretty much the last I heard from him.  No one called us to schedule.  It worked out in the end because we got someone to come out the next day that was able to install a water heater quicker and for less but it still confuses me why we couldn't just schedule and/or why they never contacted us as promised.

Flooded basement due to clog in drain mixed with cataclysmic weather event.  Hit him with a Yelp inquiry at like 4AM.  He made it here that morning, got the work done and came in at a good price.  Real good guy.

I contacted Rick via Yelp. Though he responded very fast, he arrived super late. Rick helped me install a garbage disposal. The work completed fast. But the problem is the pipe connecting with the garbage disposal leaked soon. I had to fix the pipe connection and the leakage almost damaged my cabinet under the sink

I had my laundry tub back up on Saturday. Did not have a clue who to call, but I was looking for someone local. I read the reviews and decided to call Professional Plumbing and I'm glad I did!  Can't say enough good things. Fast, friendly service at a very reasonable price. Rick, the owner, was at my house within the hour. Even got a follow up text the next day to make sure everything was working. The service also came with a 30 warranty. I highly recommend this company.

I called Rick about a plumbing problem.  He was very professional and completed the job.  I really appreciate his returning my phone call and being able to handle the plumbing problem quickly and efficiently!

Paid over $2,000 for water main repair work and the business isn't standing by their work - it wasn't completed properly. Rick (the owner) stated they were going to come out and fix it (simple fix), but it's been weeks and now they are completely ignoring calls and text messages. Do not use this business.

Just bought the house and had the main clogged up. Tried doing it myself and made a mess of thing. Called him up. He came out the same day. Got to the roots of the problem. Extremely polite, got the work done quickly and cleaned up afterwards. Defiantly call him back if we have any other issues.

Our water heater went after a solid 15 years, seeing as I haven't had many plumbing issues since moving in I was at a loss of who to call.

After purchasing a water heater from the local hardware store, I began searching on yelp, Rick was the fastest to respond, and also had one of the best quotes. But it was his promptness and professionalism that made me move forward. On Sunday evening he offered to come out the next day around mid afternoon. I'm not sure where some of these other reviews went wrong, Rick was prompt, responded to all my messages, and was on time for the job.

When the time came to install the heater, it was just my mom home. Normally she hates being alone with plumbers and the like because of the fear of being upsold, not so with Rick. She was raving about him! (Also commented on him not being bothered by dogs, which is a definite plus). He did the work promised and even took a look at a few other things for no charge. He didn't leave a mess, disposed of our old heater and now we can take steaming hot showers an hour or so later.

Rick is now in my phone for my plumbing needs now and into the future. I highly recommend giving him a call!

Rick is a very professional and dependable plumber. I had a water leak in a pipe in the rear bathroom wall.  Rick promptly came out, spent time identifying the cause and provided a fair quote.  Called Rick on Thursday and he returned on Saturday (as scheduled) and promptly fixed the leak.  Rick thoroughly checked all pipes to spot the leak.  Importantly, the leak was in the wall, and rather than quickly cutting holes in the plaster, he carefully removed the supply pipes, found the leak and repaired it.

I highly recommend Rick to fix any plumbing problems.  At the very least, call him first for a quote.

I had a hard time finding a plumber to fix a unique problem with some patchwork plumbing the previous owner threw together at our new house that the inspector did not catch. After speaking with a few different companies, they either didn't show up or tried selling me work I didn't need. A builder I know recommended Rick.
I explained to him the situation. He came by and was able to figure out what needed to be done, which in the end was much better, and at a way more reasonable price than the other fast talking pitch men that showed up (if they showed up). Very patient, hard working, honest guy. Would recommend him to anyone. If I need any other work, Rick will be the one to do it.

I found Rick and his company through Yelp.  Our yard has several trees in it, and when we were under contract on buying the home 2 years ago, the basement flooded.  The sellers had to call out another company and go through this huge ordeal and spent over $1000 to fix the issue.  Our real estate agent gave us a bit of advice and said if we had the drain cleaned out every year or two, we wouldn't have this issue.  So my search for a company began.

I spoke with several companies in the area, letting them know there was no problem, I just wanted preventative care.  Some of them insisted on using a camera even after I explained the extensive work that was done by the other company only 2 short years before(an extra $200+ for the camera), others wanted to replace the whole system ($1000+).  This upselling was all before any technician ever knew our address or the drain system!!!    We just needed someone to just clean out the line to make sure it was free of roots and blockage!  We decided to use this company based on the fact they answered my message quickly, and gave me an upfront estimate of the services I requested - no more, no less!  The work was also guaranteed, so I figured we would give them a try on this small job.  We also have a list of projects for the future, so I would talk to him and see how he answered during this visit.  

Rick scheduled our appointment after our initial conversation since he was at another job, and left me a voicemail with the time they had available.  His voicemail stated if this wasn't a problem, then he would be out.  The company also confirmed the day before the appointment to make sure everything would work for our schedule.  He arrived early for our appointment, and was very professional.   We have 3 dogs, and he was considerate to work around them.  I couldn't put them in their kennels while he was there since the drain was in this area.  So he was thoughtful enough to work around them being out, and he even put their kennels back in the original spots AND straightened out their blankets inside (and I know the blankets were already a mess before he moved anything).  We were very pleased with the service this company provided!!!!  

I discussed the list of projects my husband left for me, and Rick took the time to look at them all.  He gave us a better alternative to our inherited bathroom nightmare, which several other people that came out said we would have to demo the whole thing to a tune of $6000!  Rick looked at the shower and the bathroom (the tiles had fallen from the ceiling in the shower and were broken on shower floor - previous owner didn't know what they were doing and we inherited a MESS), and gave us another suggestion based on the bathroom and our needs.  He explained a demo of the whole thing wouldn't be necessary if we wanted our bathroom back, unless we just wanted a new look.  

He never tried to sell us on the most expensive repair, but just gave me options when I asked about changing things.  Example:  we have an old hot water heater in this house, and we have talked about replacing it.  He gave us estimates for the tankless heater (which my husband wants), but he also gave us another option that would work for less money but it would still keep up with our household usage!

They may be a small company, but he was just a good honest guy.  He isn't out to gouge you for everything you have to make a buck.  He gave us sound opinions about our projects, and information to make a decision that fits our needs.  We will definitely be using this company again for our plumbing, and most likely for the upcoming remodel on our master bathroom, so I can have a shower in there again!!

After 2 other plumbing company's, one looked at the job and never came back and the other just no showed for the job. Richard not only did the job, but was fast and efficient. Thank you for not just showing up, but for being a nice person to work with. And for doing such a good job. Will use again.

Rick saved the day. Had what I thought to be a blocked toilet. I worked 4 days with both a closet auger and a 25' snake plus several drain cleaning chemicals -- all without success. Called a drain cleaning company whose technician worked 5 hours and determined the problem was in the stack vent.

Contacted Rick Nelson, who fortunately was available to immediately come over. He cut into the stack pipe, and after several attempts was able to clear the blockage. He repaired the stack pipe then went upstairs to reseat the toilet. Rick tested all the repairs -- no leaks and good water flow. BRAVO!!!

I highly recommend Rick. He is my plumber from now on. Thank you Rick!!!!!

Grosse Pointe Woods water told us we have the highest usage of water in the whole city.

WHAT?! My husband yelled into the phone, clearly hysterical. I quickly went on yelp searching for help.

You probably want to call someone - you might have a leak...or something. The girl said on the phone, pretty nonchalantly.

These guys came through, saved the day and now the award for highest water usage can go to someone else.

I had an appointment with Rick to install a drinking fountain in my business. He showed up on time, did the installation and was very professional. The fountain works perfectly and I am very happy. Oh, and his price was very reasonable. I would recommend and will be calling him again when needed.

I hired Rick Nelson, the owner, to fix my shower who's seemingly a great plumber but is impossible to reach once the job is done and you already paid him.  I tried several times to reach him for a minor repair we had noticed after the job was completed.  He finally came out & made the repair but unfortunately it occurred again in another spot that was part of the original job.  After quite a while & several attempts to reach him, he finally called back promising he'd come out on a specified day, but never showed up or called to explain why.  Weeks have now past and I've left several messages, he won't answer his cell or return our calls.  If you're looking for a person who honors his warranty with ease & promptness than this guy is not the one to hire!

Rick came to fix a blocked basement drain the same day I called (even coming later at 8). He did a thorough and great job, and properly cleaned up. He even made helpful recommendations to prevent the blockage in the future. I can now say we have a plumber, and I wouldn't hesitate to call anytime we have a future problem. Will be recommending Rick and his company to all friends and family.

Rick is efficient, prompt and reliable. Have used him to install new faucets and a garbage disposal -- AND I called him in an emergency when we had a leak in the basement. He came immediately and rectified the situation. He's professional and fees are fair. I highly recommend him.

To call Richard a professional would be an insult to professionals in every profession.  He may be a proficient plumber but he is a horrible business person.  

Every time he was supposed to come out to my house he was either late or didn't show.  Why should I have to chase some one down to give them my money?  

The last time I didn't hear from him he sent me a text  two days later saying his phone had broken.  What about your car???  Was it broken too?  

Now I have a kitchen that is about 90% finished and too small of a job for a real plumber to waste his time on.

The $25 I spent on bank fees to cancel his last check was the best money I spent remodeling my kitchen.

My second review about some of Richards work was flagged and taken down because his carelessness was hidden for awhile.  Here is what I posted..... 6 months later and our disposal stopped working. It looks like Rich failed to ensure the connection between the power cord and the disposal was secure. I pulled the disposal apart and found a melted wire nut. (blurry picture attached) Lucky for me it was an easy fix but wires sparking and melting in your new kitchen aren't great, especially when installed by a professional.

Also, after our first load of dishes back in April we realized that one of the jobs Richard actually finished (installing the dishwasher) was also done incorrectly. Most of the water leaving the dishwasher wasn't going down the drain but going down in to the basement.

I could have installed the dishwasher so it leaked after we used it. I hired someone to make sure it didn't.

We eventually found a great plumber (F&K are their initials) but hiring Richard delayed our project by at least three weeks.

Bottom line is don't hire this unprofessional, unlicensed, wannabe plumber.

DO NOT USE THIS PLUMBER!  Rick came out to fix a leaking pipe in our basement.  Several weeks later after using another bathroom in our house there was water flowing freely from a pipe he disconnected to fix the leak.  A total mess.  Have called numerous times over 5 months for him to come fix his shoddy work.  He never came to fix it and stood my wife up at least 4 times after promising to come.  Now, he has failed to respond to at least 5 calls and messages.   Very disappointing.  Should have listened to the bad reviews on Facebook and YELP.
