We contracted Oak based on the recommendation of a friend to have a stand-by generator installed this winter. Every step of the process was smooth and painless. The salesman was very frank about what features I really need, and helped suggest locations and installation details that minimized visual impact on the outside and inside of my house. Dealing with the gas company is really the only headache, and Oak did their best to minimize that for me. For example, when the gas company sent me all kinds of forms to fill out, Oak Electric took care of it. The installers were courteous and thorough, treating my house with a care as if it were their own.

One of the first things we did when we moved back to Michigan from California was to hire a company to install a Generac generator. Checking with our neighborhood association, Oak Electric's name kept coming up. We interviewed three companies and went with Oak. They had the best warranty, the best, most detailed proposal that spelled everything out. No surprises or, what I like to call, Oh, by the ways...
Further, we've lost electric power here about 6 times since install and everytime, the generator kicks in. We love it. One more thing...our air wasn't working we noticed, as of just the other day. We called Oak and they came out the next day, found a loose connection from the install, fixed it in a few minutes, no charge. Justin did a great job. This is great company!
Not very helpful at inquiring via phone about services. Scheduling coordinator was not easy to speak with and appears to be uninformed of pricing and general questions.
Awesome job by Scott. Very pleased with timing...they squeezed me into a cancellation spot, with professionalism and price.

If I could give this company a negative rating I would. My mom ordered a generator from Lowe's last fall. Lowe's contracted Oak Electric out of Waterford, MI to perform the install. The entire process has been a nightmare.
Outside of the multiple issues of failing to schedule the install and my mom constantly having to call to check on the status here are where things stand:
Oak Electric sent a representative no less than 2 times to assess the property for the install. When the install day finally arrived the crew informed my mother that a junction box would be required in order for the install to pass inspection but that they would be unable to do the install that day and would need to send someone else to quote the job. They proceeded with the install anyhow. During installation the crew caused damage to ceiling tiles in the basement and bent a metal fence post in order to run the pipe from the house to the generator. They never informed anyone about the bent fence and my mother was unaware until her dog escaped the yard and was almost hit by a car. Since it was raining that day they were unable to paint the raw metal pipe and said they would return to finish. They still have not.
Regarding the additional work for a junction box, they quoted her almost $900 for the work. Now I'm no electrician but this seems beyond excessive. Nevertheless my mother put down a $300 deposit for the work so that it could pass inspection.
This install was on April 29th, 2022. It is now August 2nd. The damage has not been repaired, the pipe has not been painted, the junction box has not been installed yet Oak Electric continues to invoice her for the full amount of the quote.
Both myself and she have attempted to contact Oak Electric as well as Lowe's over the course of these few months and have had little to no response. When they do respond they just say they will call back but they never do. Oak Electric finally sent a representative (Jeremy) to her house today in which he denied that the install crew did any damage and threatened to put a lien on her house for her unpaid invoice. He was aggressive and threatening. Again, that unpaid invoice is for work that has yet to be completed or even scheduled. Everything else has been paid for. They are also denying they ever received a deposit from her.
The company is extremely rude and unethical. At this point my mom wants her $300 deposit back and wants to remove them as the servicer of her generator but Oak Electric is becoming extremely combative. Stay away from this company.

Great service, prompt and friendly! Very professional and responsive! Highly recommend d!
UPDATE: 10/23 and still no call.
UPDATE: On 10/20 they said they would call 10/22 to schedule resolving things. They did not.
UPDATE: 12/29. Well I gave up calling them beginning of December. Finally got a bill for all the things they had done wrong without any correction AND for the things they never did.
Replied to their invoice and they suddenly want to fix things and finish the job. Two weeks after I got the bill (today) the issues are finally corrected, but I haven't received a new invoice with the work they never did removed.
-------------
Sales quoted and said I'd get a schedule call. I didn't, I called them.
They rescheduled me twice before they did the work.
Didn't complete all the work. Said I'd get a schedule call to finish and that their sales person would be by to check up with me. Neither happened. Waited over a month.
They hooked up a 240v 40amp circuit to old wiring that wasn't connected to the box they were rewiring. Marked they didn't know where it went. I traced it in less than 5 minutes, it went to exposed wiring outside under my deck.
They were asked to install a 14-50 outlet. They ran wiring rated for 40 amps and installed a 40 amp breaker. Should be minimum of 50, it's literally right in the name
They installed a switch upside down, off is now up instead of down. On this switch they also broke the cover for it and did not replace it.
They were asked to install GFCI breakers for the ungrounded side of my house. None were installed.
I would never suggest someone use Oak Electric at this time.
I would definitely recommend this company! I called them for a generator tune up after I realized my generator didn't make its weekly test run! They had me up and running within 2 short hours! The gentleman who came in was very kind and knowledgeable, similar to all the other employees I spoke with! Would certainly recommend them friends and family!

Seems like a good company, but their quote was too expensive. I needed to get the Tesla home charging station installed. They are a recommended vendor by Tesla, but their quote was about double compared with other competitors. They were also scheduling about 1-2 months out. I found another company and they did the job within one week. Plus, I saved about $800. Shop around. Always get at least 3 quotes before picking a vendor.
I had Oak Electric install my Generic Generator and all went well. Excellent service men and help with installation. Very neat and great follow up service. Every year they perform a maintenance on my Generator to keep it in tip top shape. They are the best!
Paul and Jesse were professional, efficient and friendly. Even though we were expecting to be charged an after-hours fee, they arrived early and just charged the regular rate. They resolved our issue quickly. I was very impressed with their courteous and professional service. I would definitely use Oak Electric again and will request Paul and Jesse.

Wonderful installation on my electric generator. I was so impressed with the professionalism and the thoroughness, that I would never have any other electrician service or maintain my unit. Oak Electric is the go to company for any work of this nature.....Jeff I.
Had a generator installed. Did a very good job. Workers were very nice, trustworthy and professional. The only negative I saw was that their communication could have been better.
Nancy W
Brandon & Jordan came out today to do the installation. They were very fast, polite, and explained everything. They even gave me some recommendations and pointed out some other things that will need fixing in the future. Nice work. Thanks!
We started working with this company back in Sept 2021 to have them install a whole house generator. They do not return calls and emails and have dropped the ball continuously during this process. Our work order was apparently taken over by the head of this office who apologized and was to personally oversee our case. May 9, 2022 installation date had to be canceled by them bc they didn't submit for the permits in time. No surprise. You're just another number here. Would not suggest this company due to very poor customer service.
Update 5-18-22
Our generator was finally installed 5-17-22. The technicians were on time, polite and very efficient.
The had us pay them via credit card while they weee here and we filled out and signed the Costco paperwork to get our rebate from them.
The next day we received emails from Oak Elec asking for us to electronically sign the paperwork for the Costco rebate and to electronically sign a quote that showed that we still owed a balance of over 13K. Mind you we already signed that quote electronically at the beginning of this process. Within this email it commented that all of this paperwork would be sent to Costco upon receipt of payment. Also within that email it stated that they wanted to know if we would confirm June 13 as a day for the final inspection. I then receive a call from a different person within the office asking if we were okay with June 13 as the date of the final inspection to make sure we were aavailable. I then told her that I'd already replied to the email that asked if that date was okay from a different person. She replied that oh she didn't know because that person didn't tell her. After talking with the first person that sent the emails I questioned her about having to sign a quote that still showed that we owed a balance and she insisted we had to sign that paperwork in order to get the Costco rebate. When I told her I was reluctant to sign something that said we still owed money she replied well fine then you won't receive your Costco money! I was also told that even though we signed the original quote in the beginning via Doc you sign that it was too much time and trouble to go back into their system and try to find it and it would delay our Costco funds by many days. It's been a very frustrating experience with this company.

Fast forward a couple of months. Two heating and cooling guys have told me they routinely charge half of what Oak charged for my repair ($250 typically rather than Oak's $503). It's now broken again and the guy that came out this time said that the tech at Oak should've been able to tell that this bigger repair was about to happen, but he never said anything.
I would leave a zero if I could. My ire is with their sales staff and after reading other reviews here, there is a common theme. Late for appointments and quotes that are never generated, no pun intended.
I went thru the Toledo Costco for a generator and was assigned Oak Electric as the contractor. I was very skeptical about this since I live 20 minutes to the Ohio border. Oak Electric is located in Waterford and the drive to my house is difficult and lengthy.
Anyways, I had an appointment back in July of last year with Josh, who as you guessed it, was late. 3 hours late and only called me after I called the receptionist to inquire about his whereabouts.
When he finally did show up, he had a poor attitude and I never did receive his generator quote. My gut tells me I didn't get the quote because he didn't think I could afford it. Gave my business to CRG Electric and wrote a check.
I will commend Jessica who reached out to me 2 months after my appointment to follow up. I explained my disappointment with my experience and instead of disappearing she apologized, she also acknowledged the company dropped the ball here. Her customer relations skills are exceptional, the sales staff could learn and thing or two about communication by taking notes from her.
It's been over two weeks and I'm still waiting for a return call from the owner. I can only assume that a senior unhappy with a small job is not important to him. But it was to me. I felt taken advantage of and overcharged. I have no respect for this company. I will not recommend Oak Electric.
If you need a generator, this company is outstanding at installation and service. If your furnace (which they also maintenance and service) stops working on Easter when it is 32 degrees outside, with a high of 46 degrees expected for the day, do not expect them to reward loyalty for being a customer. Do not expect them to have a fair emergency service fee. We called and they expect us to pay a $399.00 emergency service charge. Whose fault is it, when they perform maintenance checks and service on our furnace, that the furnace stops working on a holiday? We trusted that they knew what they were doing. We purchase the program for Spring and Fall checks, we purchased a generator from them. $399.00 Just for coming out??? We will have to call around and try to find a heating and cooling service that will not price gauge a customer when they find themselves without heat. I am so disappointed. We felt like we had finally found a good company, but when they let you down when you need them most, are they really a good company?
In the process of selling my house, I learned I needed to relocate and upgrade my electrical service and meter. I was living out of state, and had to manage this remotely. Oak was one of the few companies that were able to quickly come out for a quote. After scheduling the repair and discussing concerns to get it done prior to closing, Oak was able to move up the repair after a cancellation. They spent almost a full day performing the work and did a great job at a very reasonable price. I would recommend Oak to anyone in the area.
I called oak electric for a furnace clean and check on a Monday. Was scheduled right away the following week. The tech, Brandon, was extremely Knowledgeable. He replaced our filters for the humidifier and the furnace and told me the best brands to buy to replace both. He even went through the house and made sure the correct vents were open for best heating this winter. Best company in the Waterford area to call for heating and cooling, in my opinion.
Had Oak Electric install a generator. Crew was on time, very professional and super clean! These guys left the area cleaner than it was when they started. Answered all my questions and were exceptionally courteous. Highly recommend this company for any electric work.
After 3 weeks, we still haven't received a quote.
We've called twice, the receptionist both times was extremely rude. The. Transferred us to Doug but his voicemail box was full and I couldn't even leave a message. I've heard great things but our experience was the worst possible.

I usually don't write reviews unless an experience of a product or service is either really good or really bad. This one was bad.
Summary:
I drove home twice from work, called thee times, never got a quote to fix my problem, had to hire a different electrician, and Oak electric still wants to charge me for a service call. They didn't do their job multiple times but want to get paid.
Oak Electric's management does not have good business ethics from my personal experience.
Detailed Story:
I found Oak Electric on Google for repairing my Generac generator. I called and scheduled appointment for repairing my Generator. I put the scheduled date and time in my phone calendar. When the appointment date came, I went home and waited expecting to see someone... no one showed. I called and they apologized because they couldn't find my appointment. So I re-scheduled another appointment. A couple weeks later, I go home from work and met a service person at my home. They were on-time. I showed the gentleman my Generac breaker/transfer switch and he said we would get back to me with a quote to repair within a week. 3 weeks went by and I had not received a quote so I called Oak Electric back. A woman told me she would look into it and get back with me. I never received a call back. So I called another electrician and got the problem fixed with 1.5 weeks total. A week after, I was all set with my now working transfer switch, Oak electric emailed me an invoice for a $149 service call. I called them to explain the what happened and that I didn't think it was right to charge me a service call fee. They met with their management and told me I still had to pay the $149 service fee.

Gary and his team were great! They installed 2 large generators for me. Everything was done on time, follow up was excellent. They handle all of my preventive maintenance as well. All of my emails, questions and requests are always handled in a timely manner. Everyone from the office staff to technicians are friendly and professional.
Oak Heating Cooling and Plumbing is awesome. My furnace went out just as it was starting to get chilly this fall. I called and had several quotes from Chris within 24 hours. I picked a price and I was scheduled within 24 hours. Andy and a team of guys came over and my furnace was installed in just a few hours. It's working great and I love the work they did. I use Oak for everything around my condo - A/C, plumbing, heat, etc... wouldn't go anywhere else.

Oak Electric installed external generator and the whole process went extremely smooth-From the first meeting with Jeremy to the final installation, they were extremely helpful, courteous, and went out of their way to answer all my questions.
They came on time, did their work, and left on time-the process involved much traffic through the house, and they were careful not to track dirt amd closed screen door. They cleaned up afterward.
I highly recomment them
We just moved to the area from New York and we needed some electrical work done at our new home. The team at Oak Electric was wonderful. They came out and installed a whole house 27kw Generator for us, and did all the upgrades necessary for our electrical system. Josh Quick was our point man on the project, and he did a thorough job assessing our needs and estimating the work to be done.
When the installation team came out, they did a great job. We were very happy with the work done. Justin handled the follow up, and did a good job too.
We also had Oak handle some wiring upgrades in our house. Paul from Oak came our and spent swapped out some plugs, wires, and made other repairs. Another good experience.
Critical: Quality
Buyer beware: I normally only write reviews that are positive for good service I've received.. I choose not to write negative reviews based on possibly one bad employee I may have experienced at a company or service.
In the case of oak electric I feel I must share The very poor service of this company because my mother gave the owner Gary an opportunity to try to make the situation right. I'm upset with myself for pushing my parents in the direction of Oak electric for their generac whole house generator. They had gotten a total of 3 companies to quote.. They had a better price and much less maintenance cost offered from another company which was a more local business to their house.. But I stressed to them how Oak electric always runs commercials and seems to be the largest generac dealer. They must be the best and most dependable... We have since found out none of that mattered and maybe that's the reason they don't have time to properly take care of our customer like my parents. They ordered unit in 2020 to be installed in February 2021.. We knew my father was going to be on oxygen and this would be a critical component to keep the oxygen machines running in case of electricity loss. The unit was installed in February there were a couple of issues that didn't pass inspection in Westland that we had just reset up and have them come fix which they did. Then when their lawn sprinklers were turned on in the yard in the spring, they discovered the generac unit was placed on top of a sprinkler head and had to have that line cut off underneath. That repair had to be done at My parents expense. Then they had a power outage on 8/11/21.. They were so thrilled that their generac generator came on and was keeping everything going especially my dad's oxygen units.. They were grateful. But 35 hours into its first use running with the DTE power still out at 3:00 a.m. on Friday, It stopped working. They had to wait until 8:00 a.m. to call oak electric.. At approximately 1:30 that afternoon, Oak electric showed up and spent about an hour to repair it.. This is a 6-month-old unit that cost many thousands of dollars! They were charged for their first maintenance almost $300 at this point.. The technician said it had blown some type type of gasket,.. My parents also saw there was oil everywhere in the unit that the technician had to clean it up and I guess refill with oil. The maintenance fee they did explain up front would be charged once a year, But 6 months in on a brand new unit that has failed and they were without electricity for many hours because of it, was very upsetting and now they feel worried something else may go wrong and they do not have the confidence in the system. I told my mother she should give the owner of the company an opportunity to hear all the facts there are more.. and see what he says I thought at the minimum they would not charge the yearly inspection maintenance fee since it was only 6 months old, And they already have a power outage and the generac failed.. My mother wrote out a lengthy letter to him via email on 8/18/21. Later the next day the owner Gary called and said he was made aware of her letter and concerns,.. but was out of the office and will get back and would like to review it and will definitely call back and make this right. Well that call never came.. she sent a short, follow-up note to him 8/24/21 stating that she assumed he's had a chance to read the letter but we are now assuming they don't intend to do anything to make it right? The final question of her 2nd note, was that in their information packet, it states there's an emergency number available 24/7 for instances like this but we don't know what the number is and can't find it anywhere could you please let us know that number for any issues in the future.. nothing was responded to. I so wish I could go back in time and not have pushed them to go with this company. All I can do now is give you our honest review and experience here and I am also going to write a letter to Generac regarding their unit failing on 1st use.

Seeing 13 5 star reviews already. I doubt this will be a surprise, but I worked with Mike for several days and couldn't be happier with the experience.
Mike ran several different solar panel project evaluations for us, swapping panel types and moving them around in our yard and house until he found the best setup that was still aesthetically pleaseing to us. He is always fast to respond via phone or email and is extremely knowledgeable on the entire install process. The best part, while oak electric is trying to sell their system, they haven't use high pressure sales tactics.
Disclaimer, I don't know if we will be able to complete our project (issues on my end). I hope we can, but either way I'd highly recommend them to anyone inquiring about solar in Michigan.
