Moody to the rescue again!  I had a leaking pipe in my basement and had completely misdiagnosed. Frank came out first thing the morning after I called during this strange time of pandemic. He quickly and efficiently fixed the leak (which was my toilet not the pipe). My third time using this business - never disappointed.

Frank is great. Picked up the phone right away when my water heater stopped working and was there the same day to replace it. Worked around my schedule and was an all around friendly guy. Just a bit pricey for the install.

No hot water this morning and after checking out the reviews I gave Frank Moody a call. I was pretty much prepared for having to boil water for the next few days. His response though was immediate and the hot water heater was installed within a few hours. I am more than happy!!  Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic! Kind, fast, responsive, and fair. I called 3 plumbers: 2 still haven't called me back. But thankfully the one who answered and showed up was Frank Moody!

Update June 2019 - Frank remains my guy for all things plumbing. He responds super quick and takes such good care.

For the full details, I get into it below, but for the short version, Frank was a true professional and someone I will absolutely trust to handling any plumbing and heating issues we run into in the future.

We live in a townhouse in the South End, and like most residents, we have no idea exactly how old the pipes, electrical wiring, and other critical components of the building are.  When something goes wrong, and in our 2 years in our home that is not an infrequent occurrence, having a trusted expert to come diagnose the issue is invaluable.  We have been fortunate to come across a number of great people (see my other reviews), and some not so great - I haven't written about these but there certainly have been a few.  A full-service plumber was something we fortunately had not needed in the past, but our good fortune went away earlier this week.

My wife yelled to me from the bathroom to come an check something out.  Based on the urgency, I was expecting something akin to a swamp monster climbing out of our toilet.  Fortunately, that was not the case...however, there was water dripping from the ceiling - uh oh.  Knowing that the bathroom attached to our guest room was right above the leak, we immediately thought we were in deep trouble and set off to find a plumber.  Friends, family, internet voices, basically anyone we could refer to was consulted.  There seemed to be no real consistency in feedback and no one was really willing to say they had a trusted plumber.  I fished about on Yelp, soliciting offers of assistance through the Request an Estimate link.  I got some quick responses from providers, but it seemed the people either didn't service Boston proper or were not able to work around our schedules.  We began to dial for dollars, and ended up with a couple of bites; fortunately for us, one of them was Frank Moody.

Frank was extremely responsive, even providing his cell phone number to make an appointment as opposed to going through his office.  He was able to come out the next day for his first appointment, battling the enjoyable fall school bus and commuter traffic on his way to our place.  Frank was extremely friendly and courteous - making quick friends with our dog.  We went to assess the area the water came through and then the bathroom we believed was the source of the leak.  No more than 5 seconds in the upstairs bathroom, Frank identified the two potential sources of the problem.  He immediately put me at ease by telling me it was not a major issue and explained the possible problems.  Rather than rip open our walls to assess one of the issues, he noted that it would be prudent to try out a very simple behavioral change - let water drain out of a hand sprayer rather than have it pool up and leak out.  This was the most likely source of the problem, but if not, he would come back and do the more invasive diagnosis and subsequent repairs.  I appreciated his cautious approach given the fact that there was no major issue at hand - the second potential cause was minor, but the only way to access the piping would be through the walls - something Frank didn't want to do unless it was completely necessary.

To top it off, while Frank was at our home, I asked a quick question about an occasional leak from one toilet.  He immediately got down on the floor, tightened some bolts, and made the fix.  Not requested, he just did it.  We chatted for a bit about water heaters - pro or con tankless - he is clearly con and will provide customer references to back up his claims!  From traffic, to a quick assessment of our problem, to fixing our toilet, to free advice, Frank did it all - and he wouldn't accept a penny for it.  I offered a number of times, but he felt it was not warranted since he didn't do any work - I couldn't disagree more as he did plenty for us - he gave us a trusted service provider I will not hesitate to use in the future.

I called Frank on a holiday weekend and left a message. He called back in about an hour and checked my hot water tank with three hours of my original call.  He provided me with a quote and an appointment shortly after.  I was very impressed with his responsiveness and assessment.  I will definitely call him again to take care of plumbing issues.

Needed a quote for bathroom work so I sent them an email through their website contact form which very clearly stated: Non-Emergencies: Please complete the fields below and we will respond to your inquiry within 8 hours. Three days later, still no response, so I sent them another email saying I'd be leaving negative reviews. Coincidentally, I get a reply the same day saying they are 'tied up for the forseeable future with customers in the Quincy and Boston area'. I asked they take down their website contact form promise to get back to people within 8 hours and their response was 'thanks for the feedback to improve our customer service'. After a week or so, I just checked their site now and it is still there. Had I not sent the second email saying I was going to leave a review, I'm confident they never would have responded. But even if I'm wrong about that, to know you are too busy to get back to people in 8 hours, yet still leave that promise on your website is disingenuous, misleading, and unprofessional. If plumbers are too busy to take on new work then they should respect peoples time and state so on their websites and answering machines, not knowingly make false promises.

You'll note their response. I never said one negative word about the quality of their work. I'll never experience their quality because they're too busy to take on my job. I checked their website again just now and guess what? Still promising to get back to people in 8 hours. Unbelievable! They're 'always looking to improve their customer service but they refuse to do it. Interesting that they responded almost immediately to my review but it took them three days and two emails from me for them to respond even though they promise a response in 8 hours.

I just want to add one more related note about my reviews. I received a rather nasty message from Mary accusing me of either making these things up or setting up plumbers and contractors. Not sure where she dreamed that up from, but to be clear, I have personally contacted every company I have left a review on and I keep the original email chain for 1-2 weeks in case the company challenges me on what I claimed in my review. So far, none have. As a home owner, I have legitimate projects that need to get done which I cannot do myself, and I have every right to contact multiple parties to get comparative quotes. I have nothing against these businesses other than how they treated me. I want to be perfectly clear: I have NEVER fabricated ANY accusations against any business, nor do I have any motive so to do. I am not a contractor, plumber, electrician, etc. trying to hurt my competition, nor am I interested in getting sued. If I were in that line of work then I would do the work myself and not waste my time contacting these places. Instead of getting angry at me over a false belief, why not direct your anger at the companies who show such a blatant lack of respect for our time and potential business? Companies should be called out and held responsible when they behave in that manner and I won't apologize for doing so. If enough of us did this then I believe it would make a difference. I guess my main point is just because you own your own business and have more work than you can handle doesn't give you the right to ignore people or waste their time.

After seeing his great reviews, I called Frank to replace a water heater that was 16 years old and ready to break.  He changed it out with a high quality Ruud, which was exactly like the one I had.  He was punctual, knowledgeable(he went out of his to way to clean up some other minor issues), gave me a fair price, and swept the floor after he was done.
I couldn't ask for a better experience from a plumber.  He is now on my list of go to people whenever I am need of a plumber. I highly recommend Frank Moody Plumbing & Heating .

Frank Moody was a new plumber to our Household. First call was good. He answered, he was responsive, we set up a time, I called to confirm the day before and he showed up on time and was great from the get go. ( this is Joanie and signed in on Sharn's account)
He is a hands on plumber,  he seems to take pride in his work, no fuss no bother .he doesn't walk in complaining about the job, moaning and groaning about any real work,  the first true plus was good customer contact, reachable, returns calls, availability and clarity  and understanding  the basic need for this first phone call making  or breaking the rest. (Business 101). He has good follow through . Hard working, seems honest and is courteous .  He is also knowledgeable  and he shares his knowledge with the customer . 5 stars because he was great On Numerous of the criteria above  .  Plumbers do not meet this category much anymore so we are hoping he will be the one in the long run.

Frank fixed my plumbing problems. I'm happy with the quality of the work. The price for the work was fair and reasonable. I'll call Frank again for any plumbing related work.

Very solid work done by Frank once again.  My garbage disposal system had water explode out of it from the water that was stuck in my sink, I called him in the evening,  and he installed a new one the next morning.  Everything works flawlessly.  I'm always able to get my plumbing problems fixed very fast since finding him.  Glad I did!

My wife and I recently moved into an older home in Wollaston Beach. One problem has followed the last one. We have contacted Frank 3 times and on each occasion he has picked up our call and arrived on our doorstep within 24 hours. His work is of the highest quality and his rates are more than reasonable. This has been a difficult winter, but I can't imagine how much worse it could have been without Frank's timely and cost effective help. Highly recommended.

Downstairs toilet went out so tried the DIY method to see if I could fix myself via You Tube. DIY did not work so I called Mr Moody up to set up an appointment. Arrived within an hour of phone call and he had part in his truck and fixed running toilet problem. Frank is the #1 in plumbing and heating repairs on the South Shore

Frank is very professional and gave us a reasonable price for his service. He definitely knows what he is doing and he even gave us pointers on what is needed to be done at our house. As a first time homeowner, we need honest feedback and services and we're glad we found him. Highly recommended!Thanks Frank!

What a lifesaver. I purchased a new (to me) home this past week, and couldn't figure out why the hot water and the water to the second floor weren't working. I called Frank on Monday, and he was at my home Tuesday morning before 9 am. Frank discovered quickly that the previous homeowner had shut the water off to mask the issue of a major leak in the pipe.

He was able to quickly fix and replace the pipe within 24 hours for a more than reasonable price. Also, he really goes above and beyond to be helpful, he was at my home for at least 5 hours to fix this pipe issue and stuck true to his original price quote. I would definitely recommend Frank and plan on using his service again in the future.

I waited a a couple of weeks before writing this review as I wanted to be sure there were no problems.

I hired Frank Moody to replace part of my stacked sewer pipe (basement) and to replace my a new kitchen faucet. He came in the morning and left in the afternoon as planned.   He was nothing but pleasant, professional, and punctual.  I can see why he's always busy -- he's great at what he does.   I am very happy with my updated faucet. Frank completely re- did the piping (term??) under my kitchen sink.  He said the previous job was pretty much unacceptable. I took some side by side picts and saw what he meant. He made some improvements which will allow for easier access for future clean outs.    

I would definitely hire him for future jobs.

We have worked with Frank for almost a decade, from small jobs like an Insinkerator install to a complete new boiler and passive water heater purchase and installation. We have counted on him for routine maintenance and also for emergency repairs. Regardless of the task, Frank always communicates clearly and always come through.

Frank helped replace a kitchen faucet and fixed a slow filling toilet. He was very professional, friendly and clean. Had a minor issue with the toilet afterwards and he came promptly to fix. Would hire Frank again for my plumbing needs.

Frank was prompt to reply to my request to have my gas heating system flushed and maintained.  He came out and drained and cleaned everything.  There was a bit of gunk in the system and it's good I had it done when I did.  
He also replaced my bathroom sink shut-off valves and hardware.

He is courteous, on-time, and reasonable.

Called and spoke to Frank to see if he could come out to change the leaking valve underneath my sink. Being Thanksgiving week, we needed someone to come the next day. He was polite, seemed professional, and said he could fit us in the next day. Frank said he was waiting on another client to call him back so he took down my information and agreed to call me by one that afternoon. One rolls around and I don't hear from him. I gave him the benefit of the doubt since I understand many are a one man show and out in the field.

I called him at 2pm and left a voicemail. No response.
I call again at 5:30pm and left another voicemail. No response.

Frank finally returned my call the next day at 8am and explained that he was stuck on another project. I can't speak to Frank's work, but he pretty much left us scrambling late afternoon to find an available plumber for the next day. We fortunately found Drain Flow who was extremely responsive over text and got the job done.

As a US Marine I expect Above and Beyond service.  I called Frank, who has 42 years of experience as a plumber, due to a pipe leaking in the basement.  He picked up the phone (Even though the number was all weird because I was calling on Skype)  I called 4 people before him and no one answered.  He scheduled to come between 1400-1600 and showed up early at around 1315!  It took him an hour to fix and stuck to his original quote.  Little did I know he use to be a US Marine as well!  Beside his immaculate work, he was a pleasure to talk to!  I will be calling this Devil Dog back if I have another plumbing problem!  Semper Fi fellow brother!

Called him based on good reviews that I found on yelp. He came almost immediately which was a pro but he was extremely unprofessional. My basement was a bit messy and cluttered and he didn't like that and I had a dog barking which he also didn't like. He said he couldn't do the job and said I can't do this one with an angry face and walked out. Super unprofessional and undependable. If you're going to advertise your work as plumbing, at least have the decency to do your job and not just walk out cause the basement is not the cleanest or someone has a dog barking at home.
He's not a nice person. Period

Frank is the real deal. He is extremely knowledgeable, professional, friendly and trustworthy.  A friend recommended him and I lucked out. I was extremely nervous prior to meeting him but felt right at ease because he is so experienced and knows his job, he instills confidence so you know it will be done correctly. As a mater of fact when he came to my house he recognized the address and had previously worked on the bathroom when my parents were alive.  He remembered them which was very sweet. His rates are very reasonable and he listens to your needs and explains his job so you understand all that is involved. I highly recommend this company.

Best plumber I've ever used

I hired Frank Moody to replace a toilet at my home. He was courteous, professional, competent and thorough. His pricing was not reasonable. I only agreed to it because I didn't know anyone else. He removed the old toilet, provided and installed new toilet and new water shut off valve, disposed of old toilet(local trash collection does not take toilets). I got an ordinary toilet with no dual flush, didn't hang from the wall, nothing unique about it. There were no obstacles in his way. For this I paid $950. I'm still shaking my head that I agreed to it. Frank Moody is not welcome at my house again.

Finally someone I can could on to come and do a job correctly. Frank installed a new faucet, disposal and fixed my dishwasher. He cleans up after each job and writes a detailed bill. I will exclusively use him as my plumber moving forward.

I used Frank a year ago when I moved into a new home. Great guy and quality work. However, I found his prices to be very high. His labor rate is a bit on the high side, but he takes very big markups on fixtures he supplies. I compared his invoice for parts and supplies to what anyone would pay at Republic Supply and found items marked up from 25% to almost 100%

My review is several years late, but I kept all the receipts. Back in Dec. 2016, I needed my garbage disposal replaced so I called Frank for a quote. He came by and gave a rough estimate for the part (disposal) and said it was a slightly higher price than standard disposals because it was a larger size/power model. We scheduled the work and I wasn't able to be home that day but my wife was there to let him in and pay him when the work was completed. So I come back to find out that the bill was for even more than he initially quoted. Being a little skeptical and concerned that he was taking advantage of my wife and overcharging her, I then did some research. I looked at the Model number of the installed disposal and did a search for pricing information. I come to find that this exact same disposal was readily available at Lowes and Home Depot for $259, much less than the $525 he charged us. Obviously not happy with being scammed, I called him and left a message, and immediately cancelled the check payment my wife had made until I got a response from him. He seemed pretty shocked that he was called out on this. He tried to blame the supply house, obviously he buys everything from the supply house and never checks/questions pricing. Sure... I mentioned that this exact same disposal was readily available at both Lowes and Home Depot for significant less than what he was charging us and he was lost for words. Like he, a plumber of 30 plus years, had never heard of a place called Home Depot. Eventually we received an adjusted bill for the proper cost of the disposal so he did acknowledge that. But obviously he would have been happy to pocket the 100% markup had we not looked into it more carefully. So that's my story and I wouldn't recommend or trust him.

Stay Away.. unreliable.  Took over month to show up to look at a job (and have been a customer for many years, was father's plumber).   Didn't show up when scheduled and Wouldn't provide estimate (even though does 60-70 of same type jobs per year).   Very expensive.   Look elswhere if you want someone that is reliable.

Frank is a complete professional! Since purchasing a home a few years back, I have been on the hunt for an honest and reliable plumber. Turns out that is a tall order. I was lucky enough to find Frank after a few other sub par jobs with other flaky and less dependable plumbers. He was quick to call me back, showed up when he said he would and stands behind his work. My water pressure issue was much larger than I anticipated and he has committed to solving the problem despite the extra cycles required. He is my new 'go to' plumber. I trust him completely and appreciate his ability to leverage his local network.

I needed someone out at my house ASAP . Found Frank on yelp , called him up and he was there same day . Very friendly , professional and knows what he is doing. I was also needing someone to fix our ice damn damage and remodel a bathroom. When I asked if he knew anyone he immediately told me he could do it for me. Two days later he came back to take a look and get an idea of what I wanted . We are scheduled to get our ice damn damage and bathroom fixed and remodeled . Our runny toilets are fixed and looking forward to getting our house fixed. If you want someone that knows what they are doing call Frank Moody .

Highly recommend Frank. Called him on a Tuesday, and he came out on a Friday.  He could've been out on Thursday, but I wasn't available. Needed a part replaced on the shower valve. He arrived 20 minutes early, which is fine with me and was done within 40 minutes. The quote he provided was $120 less than another quote I received.

This is the best plumber in the Boston area hands down. Professional and the best looking work around. I would recommend him to anyone! We relocated to San Diego from Boston recently and have never found anyone close to him.
