Woke up Saturday 3/21/2020 in the middle of the Covid19 Pandemic to no heat or hot water. Called Trethewey Bros, and their answering service took all of my info, and Bob called back within 10 minutes.

Walked through the problem, and the brand of furnace. Instead of immediately sending someone out, he asked for a few photos, and then called back. He was able to walk me through troubleshooting on the phone. Had this not worked, he was taking all of our information, so the truck would be loaded with any type of part needed to get the job done in one trip.

Within minutes we were back up and running!!!!!

Sunday 3/22/2020, he followed up with us to make sure we were still up and running, and were having no other issues.

What a refreshing way to get things done. Looking our for his people and helping a customer.

Self-important, arrogant, and over-priced and they do poor work besides! The new construction work they did for us was awful -- pipes bang every time we take a shower.  Never again!

Had a drip from a bathroom faucet. TBROS came four times, ordered the wrong part, charged more than $350, and never fixed the drip.

I hadn't used TBros in at least 15 years, but calling them seemed to be the simplest solution to getting a basement laundry sink installed since their shop is fairly close and I could stop in to place the order and schedule the work. Now I realize if I had devoted another few hours to finding another plumber I probably would have saved a good $500.
Yes, I got an estimate - at least 4 hours or approx $600 for the installation based on a visual inspection by a representative - and to be fair, it came with the caveat that it could possibly take longer. And sure, I knew I was paying top dollar for the actual sink and faucet themselves, but again the convenience seemed worth it at the time.
The plumber arrived within the expected time at 10:45 am, and we spent about 15 minutes talking about the positioning of the sink and he began looking around at my system. I asked where the sink was after that time, and he informed me that he was preparing a stock list and that someone else would be bringing all the needed supplies from the shop. Interesting, I thought, that they didnt arrive with these fairly basic materials, including the sink which I had already paid for, particularly since they charge a $60 fee just to show up at your home (no one could really explain what that $60 was actually for - more than one employee could only offer those are our rates ).  So at 11:30, yes a full hour and a half later (at $125 an hour), the apprentice arrives with the materials to begin the job.  I have a hot/cold supply and waste outlet already in place for the laundry so not much else needed to be prepared. By 2:30 I was really wondering how much longer this was going to take, and finally at 4pm my new laundry sink was installed. The new copper supply pipes near the bottom of the sink basin aren't secured to anything really, and the can be moved back and forth with a light touch - just one strap further up above on the wall- I don't know if that's correct or not, but can't afford to have these guys over again.
The bill for the install: $840, which is some 40% higher than the estimate. Sure, they noted in the estimate that it could be higher, but no reasonable explanation of what made it so much more time consuming/complicated (I suspect it was pretty straight forward) was offered.  Including the $600 I paid for the sink and faucet, this laundry sink cost me $1,500.
The rest of the experience was fairly average I suppose; if you have more money than time, these guys might fit the bill.

I don't understand all of the negative reviews. We've got an Arctic cold snap here in Boston right now and my heat was out. They came the day after I called -- and would have come on the same day but I was out of town. The person who took my call was great. She gave me a four-hour window of time for when the technician would get here, and Andrew showed up right on time. He was professional, informative and very nice -- I don't know nothin' 'bout heating systems, but he was patient and explained everything to me, including my options. He was also thinking of cost-effective ways to handle the repairs, even suggesting that I shop around for prices on a new water heater once I get their quote. All in all, I couldn't be happier.

I had great service with Trethewey Brothers, and they do what they say.  Yes, they are certainly not cheap, but I don't think any plumbers are.  The owner, Bob, was incredibly nice, and tried to save me money by telling me that if someone came out on Sunday, it would be more money, which I thought was really nice.  They come when they say they're coming, they are trustworthy, and I don't understand why anyone here has anything bad to say about them :)

My general contractor installed a cheap kitchen sink and faucet when I bought my house in 2012. The stainless-steel sink, which was installed from under a granite counter, cracked in four places. The faucet looked state-of-the-art with a pull-out spray but started to leak this year.

I decided to go to Trethewey Bros. for a better faucet replacement. I also decided to have the plumber reverse a shower valve because its indicator said cold for hot and hot for cold. I chose a high-end Kohler faucet that was about $500. I also had a better sink already and wanted that installed. I stated this when I ordered the faucet. The person at the showroom said the sink installation could be problematic due to the granite counters. I was overly confident because I thought I had measured the new sink exactly for the bracket holes in the granite. It took about 2 weeks before the actual service occurred, once the faucet had arrived.

On the day of service, the Trethewey plumber arrived within the given 4-hour window. The sink-faucet installation was time-consuming and entailed sawing down the sink to fit the suspension brackets under the counter. Placing the sink required two people, so I gladly helped. After all, no sink means no kitchen to anyone who cooks, as I do.

The shower valve seemed at the time to be the easier issue. The plumber took apart the valve and inserted a reverse hot seat. He said it was working fine. We settled the bill for sink and shower valve (approx. $900). After two showers, the valve would not shut off. So, starting at 10 AM on Sunday, cold water was running in the shower because there is no designated shut-off for that bathroom. I immediately called the Trethewey number. I got a call back around 1 PM. The man who called back said he would not be able to get anyone to me until Monday. To be fair, it was one of our coldest weekends. I explained that the water was running. He suggested I shut off the water for the whole house. Since our heat is forced hot water, I did not like that idea in freezing weather.

I was told the office opened at 7 AM Monday, and, if I didn't hear from them by 9 AM, to call. They called at 6:47 AM on Monday morning, but I happened to have left my phone in the kitchen and missed the call. I saw they called about 7:10 AM and called back. The friendly dispatcher said she had sent a plumber to another job when I didn't answer the phone. Meanwhile, our shower was still running. I was given a window of 8 AM to 12 PM for the plumber to arrive. I told the dispatcher to just send the plumber because I would be here all day if necessary.  I waited until approximately 11 AM to call the office back. I was placed on hold and was eventually told a different plumber was coming than the one originally here.

He showed up, as promised, in about 30 minutes. This plumber immediately conveyed a sense of confident friendliness. He was methodical and courteous. He took apart the leaking shower valve and the new part installed previously by the plumber on the first visit just fell out of the valve. It had not been placed correctly. Hence the severe leak. This plumber went to his truck, got a temporary part to fix that issue and also brought a new spindle to upgrade the old shower valve at my request and added expense (another $80 approximately). He explained that he would order a replacement for the faultily installed part and would reschedule when it came in. He negotiated reduced labor charge for his visit with the office without me asking.

Just over 3 weeks later, the second plumber came and completed the shower valve upgrade. I had braced myself for another bill and a conversation about the earlier valve part that had been messed up in the installation. I was pleasantly surprised when the plumber handed me an invoice with no charge for that final visit. He said the company acknowledged that there had been inconvenience. Now that is a why I would recommend Trethewey to anyone looking for a good complete-service plumbing company. Anyone can make a mistake, but the test of a good business is how they make it right.

We have been using Trethewey Brothers in my family for over 20 years.  We are now done with this horrible company.

I called and scheduled an appointment for the following week.  I went out with my young son, leaving our cleaning lady with limited English proficiency home.  In my absence, someone from TB dispatch called and left a voicemail that Eric is on his way to my house.  What's the point of having a dispatcher that doesn't know when your appointment is, and sends someone when you're not home.  My very naive cleaning lady let Eric into my house...this is also very alarming, but a story for another day.

Eric leaves an invoice stating that he couldn't find any problems, and for me to call if I want further follow-up.  When I get home to the invoice and the voicemail, I can't believe the stupidity of this company.

I call them, they ask for my name and address, and then my name again.  It's funny to me that they ask for my name twice but will enter my house without asking for me at the door.  They are sorry for the confusion, and ask if I want someone to come out again today.  Seriously?  I'm sorry I called on such a slow work day for TB.  They certainly decide when they want to show up, disregarding the scheduled appointment.   I just love having an unsupervised worker in my home, too.

Did I mention that they were coming to fix an outdoor hose that they fixed last summer and is still leaking, and good ole Eric couldn't figure that out?   Done.

I have been using Trethewey Brothers for a number of years to service my furnace and for miscellaneous plumbing jobs.  They are always incredibly responsive and reasonably priced.  Their staff, both in the office and the plumbers that come out are professional, patient, responsive, and informative.  I was talked into trying a more local plumber a couple of years ago and still regret it - mediocre service and high priced.  Last week I woke up at 5:00 to a burst pipe, and Trethewey Brothers came over quickly.  I wholeheartedly recommend Trethewey Brothers any plumbing or heating issue you may have.

*** BEWARE ***Submitted inquire on website and they emailed me the next day requesting photos. After they got the photos they stop responding and I gave them a call and the lady who answered was absolutely rude. Manager came on and yelled at my wife. I understand everyone is understaff but because you are understaff that doesn't make it okay to be rude to customers.

The people who answer the phones for this company seem clueless...I found myself transferred time and time again. Once I finally reached someone who seemed to know what he was doing, an appointment was set to repair my a/c unit. Not an appointment, really. It wasn't even a realistic time window! Just we'll call 2 hours before we plan on showing up. That day arrives and I wait for a call that never comes -- so I call TBros only to be transferred and transferred and transferred. I was told they'd call me back and no one ever did. So, the morning after I speak with Bob (after being transferred only once) who says my card is lost. There is no record of my phone call and they are completely booked and therefor unable to repair my a/c. Thanks a lot. I'm really glad I waited for the Trethewey Brothers to NOT repair my a/c unit.

I will be contacting a more organized company who respects my time and doesn't ask me to wait for an indefinite period of time and then choose not to show up at all.

I have been a long time customer for Trethewey Brothers. They have replaced steam boilers and hot water systems in two multi-family buildings that we own (including the one we live in) and made several service calls over the past twelve years.

My experience has been that their pricing is very competitive and their service is top notch.

The boiler replacements involved disassembly and removal of the old oil tanks, removal of the very large cast iron boilers, lining the chimneys with a stainless steel liner, bringing in the new boilers (in sections!) and installing large Superstor hot water systems. The various techs and tradespeople were incredibly well choreographed and the work well executed. Each project was substantially completed (i.e. heat and hot water back online) within two days - really incredible considering the amount of work and coordination required.

Periodic service calls have always been scheduled promptly and the techs that came out were polite and knowledgeable. Unlike some others, the techs were very polite and respectful when meeting with my wife (who is less familiar with the boiler systems than I am)  instead of me for service calls.

Recently in July, on a late Friday afternoon / evening, I called to ask for a service call on a boiler that was making heat (during the summer !). I got a call back from Bob immediately to do a phone diagnosis. After answering various questions, he determined that there was no emergency, but said that he would get a tech to head back into the city to work on it. I told him that given how hot it was and that most , if not all people would be away for the weekend, we could just turn off the boiler and wait until Monday. Bob scheduled a tech for the first thing Monday morning. The tech that came out was, as usual, very polite and knowledgeable. He cleaned some parts,  adjusted the controls, inspected everything and, at my request, did the rest of what would be a typical tune-up. He took the time to explain what he did and it was done at a very fair price for the effort.

Based on many years of positive experiences  with Trethewey Brothers, I highly recommend them.

Prompt phone response and they quickly scheduled an appointment. They came out on a Friday and said I'd have an estimate within the week.  Meanwhile, I continued to look for contractors.  Three weeks later I received the bid from Trethewey.  The high quality job done by another contractor cost me $5K. The bid from Trethewey was $23,500.  They clearly didn't understand the client request.  The passive/aggressive response and ridiculously overblown price makes me think they won't admit that small jobs aren't of interest.

We had an urgent plumbing issue come up over the weekend outside of their normal appointment times. Not only did the owner of T-Bros quickly get back to me to schedule the soonest available appointment, he actually spent several minutes on the phone walking me through how to temporarily fix the issue so we could keep our water on in the mean time. I will definitely be calling them next time we need a plumbing repair!!

I called to ask if they would be able to top off the antifreeze in my heating system.  I had to schedule 3 visits, buy my own antifreeze, wasted  15 HOURS of my time waiting for them to show up, and felt they took every opportunity to overcharge me.  The first time they gave me a 4 hour window to come to my house to do the work.  They called me in the last 20 minutes of the window, explained that they were running behind and asked if I could stay home a bit longer.  I agreed to waiting an additional 2 hours and was told someone would be over ASAP.  NO ONE showed up, and they called again to reschedule the next day.  I said I would only agree if my house would be the first one they visited at 7 am.  The service person did not show up until after 8 am, charged me for the 40 minutes it supposedly took to drive to my house (which is 4 1/2 miles from their location), only brought 1 gallon of antifreeze (which he happened to have in the truck), charged me more than 2X the going cost of the antifreeze, and then told me I would have to reschedule to have someone come back with more antifreeze.  I went out and bought my own antifreeze at half the cost and scheduled another appointment.  No one came within the next 4 hour window either but again I was told someone would be over ASAP at the very end of the window.  They did actually show up this time and spent 1 1/2 hours to do the work that should have be done correctly the first time at a cost of $150.  Instead, I paid over $450 and had to stay home from work 3 separate days for them to do a relatively straightforward job.  They charge $104/hour and bill you for the time it takes to drive to your house (and perhaps stop for coffee/breakfast on the way) and round up the billed time 15+ minutes.  How about they refund me for the 8 hours I sat home twiddling my thumbs waiting for them to show up in their designated 4 hour work window or the additional 4 1/2 hours beyond this time that I had to stay home from work because they were so late?  When I called about the $34 charge for 1 gallon of antifreeze when I just bought the same stuff for $15, they did tell me they made a mistake and overcharged me but they never refunded it.  Stay away from this company.  It is a waste of time and money!

Trethewey Brothers plumbing has been around forever, and there's a great reason why you see their trucks all over Boston.  There's also a reason one of the Trethewey brothers is on This Old House - they know their business, and are a super-professional crew.

The replaced my heating system last year, and I can't say enough about how easy they were to work with.

TBros is a bit more expensive than some competitors, and have a feel for just coming out, but I've found them to be honest, fast and reliable. The first time I used them they ended up being hundreds of dollars cheaper than the previous plumbers, who only fixed half a problem, and this time they fixed something but also walked me through how to fix it myself in the future. Excellent company and very nice to work with.

The tech came out quickly and was very friendly. We knew what the problem was, but wanted to get a quote on the cost to repair the leaky faucet. He suggested 2 different solutions and a rough estimate of cost and time, then charged us $165 for the consultation.  He was here for approximately 10 minutes.  This is the first time a tradesman has charged us a fee just to take a look.

Trethewey Brothers may be a bit more expensive than some others but I believe that you get what you pay for.  I've used them for various plumbing issues over the years and have always been more than satisfied.  They are courteous on the phone, very responsive time wise and every repair person that has come to my home has been pleasant and professional.  On Monday, New Years eve day, I decided to do a load of laundry and was horrified when I got a fountain of water coming back out of the drain pipe where it connected to the sewer line.  I tried snaking it myself, to no avail.  Years ago I had a similar issue and the sewer line needed to be snaked out and tree roots cut out of the line.  I assumed it would be the same issue. I called and got their answering service who said that because of the holiday, I probably wouldn't hear back from them until Wednesday unless it was an emergency.  It wasn't as nothing else was backing up so I was fine with that.  No less than an hour later, I got a call back from them and they said they would try to arrange for someone that evening.  They then called me back about 1/2 later and said that they didn't have anyone and was I o.k. until Wednesday, so I didn't have to pay emergency service fees, which I was.  They contract out their drain services to Boston Drain, which I've also dealt with in the past and had good experiences with.  At 10am this morning (Wednesday) the most pleasant repairman arrived and within an hour, problem solved.  I have to say I had visions of having my yard dug up so I was more than happy that this could be snaked out.  The repairman and I had a hobby in common so we also spent some time discussing our mutual love of our 'sport'.  After the horrendous experience that I just had with Homeserve and the most nasty, arrogant repairman that I've ever dealt with, this was more like a social call with a good friend.  So, in ending, if it cost me more than shopping around, so be it.  I got excellent customer service and a job well done.  *Note -  flushable 'wipes' really aren't that flushable.  Beware!

They are a shadow of what TBros were back in the day.  It's time they folded up shop and moved on.  Gross over-markup on parts, multiple visits where only one was required, substituting inferior products without full disclosure.  The only thing I can say good about them these days is that they do indeed arrive promptly for an emergency, but it's all downhill after that.

I called on Friday a couple of days before a big storm was predicted. They sent someone early Saturday morning. Eric did a good job replacing the guts of a malfunctioning shower mixing valve and an outdoor faucet which he had to get into a filthy crawl space to properly deal with.  He gave me good advice about relocating the spigot [don't, it will be more likely to freeze], replacing a laundry sink faucet and disconnecting a replaced Oil heating boiler . They waive the truck charge on work looked at on a previous visit within one year, so I'll probably have them come and finish the work. Good work, done in timely fashion. They charge premium prices, so you have to decide whether you want to spend the $$$.

Contacted them about an oil to gas conversion.  The very friendly receptionist said she wasn't sure whether they did exactly what I was requesting, so she sent me to the voicemail of a Sr. Tech/Plumber.  Two weeks later, and not even so much as a polite call to say yes or no; was completely ignored. Clearly they don't want your business, so don't bother to call this place.

we have been a long time customer of TBROS, after having an emergency with a water leak and fixing a scheduling concern, Mike one of the owners was able to address my concerns and get a plumber to our house the next morning. Ron, the plumber was able to repair the faucet but recommended replacing it as hard water has damaged other parts in the faucet. I have ordered a new one and will schedule the install when it arrives. Ron was careful and provided us with good advice. As Mike the owner says when addressing problems, the customer is always right

I wish I had checked these reviews before hiring Tbros.  My tenant had a broken handle on the bathroom shower, so I called them thinking this would be an easy job.   They showed up the first time on time, fixed the handle and all seemed good, but then my tenant called and said they didn't install the full handle and that one of the parts was still sitting on the sink.  This was slightly annoying, but not the biggest deal, so I sent them back to complete the work.  They charged me to return.  It wasn't my fault that they did the work incorrectly the first time, but they charged me anyhow.  What is even worse is that the handle still wasn't fixed properly.  They returned 4 times to fix this handle (charged me every time)...  My tenant called me again last week to say the handle is still broken!  This time, I called a different plumber and all has been good since.  All in all, the experience was extremely frustrating.  I also felt that the manager in charge wasn't very sympathetic to the poor work that was done and I am horrified that they charged me each time to return.  If they did the work properly the first time, it would have only required one visit.  If the handle wasn't able to be fixed, then they should have let me know and given me an estimate to replace it.    After many complaints, the owner of the company credited back 20% of my bill, which I appreciate, but was a bit too late.    I would say avoid this company if possible.

Worth the cost. My water heater blew one day and I called tbros. They were extremely responsive and were at my house with a new heater within 30 minutes. The entire process took about 2 hours. The men that came were helpful and knowledgeable with all my questions. I could have found a cheaper option, or a place with more selection in terms of brand, but I was very happy to find someone fast and reliable!

I have been using tbros for about three years for both heating and plumbing. As a new homeowner I have experienced many contractors trying to run up my bill but I have never had that experience with Tbros. I have always been able to make an appt ..sometimes last minute and have always been called when the plumber is on their way. I usually ask for Andrew since he always manages to fix every problem I have. I think its pretty hard to find a good contractor that actually shows up and doesn't try to gauge you so Id say Tbros is pretty high on my list.

Trethewey Brothers are professionals who communicate well and have excellent service.  We woke up to no hot water and filled out their online service request.  Within one hour I had a follow-up email telling me that it will be scheduled that same day.  By 1pm everything was resolved and handled in a professional, courteous manner with excellent communication throughout the process.

I highly recommend Trethewey Brothers.

When the availability of skilled tradespeople to do electrical, plumbing etc. is almost non-existent as they are all so busy, my experience with Trethewey Brothers has been positive. I can always rely on someone to pick up the phone as well as a service person to be dispatched in a timely manner. I am sometimes reluctant to call them based on the many negative reviews thinking that it is my turn to have the bad experience, but so far things have gone well. Hopefully, I can rely on them for future work.
The only reason I did not give them 5 stars is the outsourcing of a job that required cleaning a drain. I did not like having 2 bills to pay, especially when drains are a basic type of plumbing job; then again, It is not my area of expertise.

First time house owner. Billy C. not only serviced our furnace, but provided a wealth of very helpful information about the furnace and chimney that I needed to know in order to keep my family safe. He did a thorough job checking the entire system from the basement to the upstairs. I called them because my long Roslindale friend/resident recommended them. Said they are more expensive than others, but worth the money because they do very thorough work.

We have used Tretheway several times over the past few years for both plumbing work and for furnace work.  They do good work, are reliable and courteous.  They are fairly priced (not the cheapest, but worth it!).

They have come to fix things, and have returned to refix when needed.  When called for an estimate for a large job, like converting from oil to gas.  they came right out and said the estimate would be avilable in days;   many weeks and many phone calls later, no return calls, no estimate.

We discovered a leak in our hot water pipe on Saturday, and called Trethewey Bros. They were booked and couldn't come out until Monday, but showed up right on time Monday morning and fixed the problem. Eric was courteous and efficient. We're pleased with the service they provided and would use them again.

I used to use Trethewey for all my plumbing, mainly small jobs. But I have consistently recommended them to friends throughout the South End. I will no longer do that and recommend that others not do it as well. Contacted them recently for a very small job. Made an appointment and was given a window of 10:00-2:00. I was contacted at 1:00 that they had to reschedule. They cited the phoney excuse of parking! Rescheduled for three days later for the same time window. This time was called at 9:00 to reschedule again. BAD way to run a service business brothers! Will never use or recommend your services again...

We've used Tretheway Brothers (TBros) for various jobs and they're always professional, efficient, honest, and friendly. In our 100 year old multifamily home, they've helped us with our annual boiler servicing, fixing a bathtub leak on the second floor, moving pipes for a new washer, and installing new water heaters.

Their commitment to quality and craftsmanship and transparent customer service is worth every penny. Their rates may be higher than others, but I am happy to pay fair wages, especially when it supports a multi-generational local family business. They, especially Bob, go out of their way to make sure customers are satisfied.

Called them for help with two issues.  The first was a plumbing issue.  With that I was completely satisfied.  The plumber was pleasant, quick, on time, didn't make a mess and the job was completed in less than a half hour.  For plumbing I can recommend them.

The other issue was to get a quote for installing a new heating system.  I can not recommend them for heating.  The representative did show up and time and was pleasant.  However, he never sent me the quote.  I called back three times and never received any kind of response; not even an explanation that they can't do the job.

Due to their lack of response, and blatant disrespect shown by not responding, I suggest looking elsewhere for help with heating.

These were subcontractors for a bathroom remodel.  They had journeymen (or apprentices?) on the job, with almost no supervision, and they messed up on almost every aspect of their job: locating pipes and fixtures in the wrong places, failing to bring the right parts, even pitching a drain pipe slightly upward(!) - nearly everything they did had to be taken out and re-done.

I am a fifteen-year resident of Roslindale.

I go out of my way to use local businesses. In most cases - Sullivan's, Harrison, Birch st, Formax - I have received great service. After the garbage I went thru with Tbros., I will go to Roto Rooter.

I called Friday nite (July 2) about a problem. I was told that someone would be out Monday 7am - 9am.  OK

At 9:30am, my husband called and was told that no one could come in the am  but thery would be out today.

I spoke with a Sandy around 11am and she promised someone would come out and I would get a status update at 3pm.

I called at 3:15pm. Sandy was gone and the dispatcher said no one could come today.

I said forget it and called Roto Rooter.

They came the next day on time and fixed the problem.

I will never call TBros. again and I will bad-mouth them to all my friends and neighbors. I  do not do business with liars.

We've used Trethewey in our small condo association for 28 years.  Today they said the soonest they can fix a broken water heater is in 14 days.  14 days with no hot water -- no wait list; no consideration for long-term customers, no nothing.  And served up with a whole lot of attitude!  We're moving on.

Called to request a boiler service and scheduled it for a Saturday between 8-12, which is not at all ideal, but I needed a plumber.  I waited all morning from 8 am and they did not show up until after 1 pm!!!!  I couldn't stick around by the time the plumber showed up so I left my fiance to let the plumber in.  Long story short, the plumber never even serviced the boiler, but diagnose a very costly piping issue with our heating system.  Also, the plumber told my fiance that our boiler was close to 30 years old and that we may look to replace that soon as well.  I contacted the boiler manufacturer to have them look up the age of the boiler and guess how old it is?  10 Years old.  Not even close to needing replacing.  In the end the plumber didn't even service my boiler, and I found out that I'm going to have thousands in pipe replacement.  And for all that I was charged $144!!!!!  What a total crock.  I will definitely be finding another plumber for my future needs.

Stay away from TBROS!!!!!

I have used them 3 times.  Clearly, they dont care about their repeat customers bc the 3rd time was a HORRIBLE experience.  I hired them to install a new DW.  It wasnt even close to level and was left sticking out 3 inches from the cabinets. From the side, you could see the insides of the DW!  I called to complain and the owner (Mike) was immediately defensive and said it was due to the way my plumbing was configured.  Interesting how my old DW (which had the exact same depth) fit perfectly!  I had to hire another plumber to come out and actually install the DW correctly!  After leaving a VM and a email with no response, Im forced to contact the BBB to resolve the problem.  The customer service I received is totally unacceptable but whats worse is the quality of service.

I had scheduled an appointment to have our furnace serviced on a Saturday morning - it was a time sensitive issue and the only time we could be home to schedule the service. I was told when I booked the appointment that I would receive a phone call 10-15 minutes before the technician arrived. We received no call and no one came during the 4 hour window we were given. When I called to ask when we should expect someone to arrive, I was told that the technician already came but no one answered the door. Since we live in a condo, the front door opens to common space and we cannot hear when someone knocks. They did not call because the technician was not given our phone number (which had been provided when the appointment was made).

When I called the dispatch, they said they were unable to come back same-day. Since this was time sensitive and it was their error (not providing a phone # to the technician to call as I was told), I was pretty adamant about this being remedied same-day and asked to talk with a manager. The customer service representative said she would have someone call me, and hung up on me. I called back and she again hung up on me (as in - picked up the phone and put it back down). I called back thinking that was odd, and the woman said stop calling and hung up.

We received no call back from a manager, no service for our furnace, atrocious customer service, and our house remains cold.

Trethewey Bros. is run by arrogant, rude and unprofessional people.  We set-up an appointment for a Saturday and were told that they would arrive between 8am-12pm.
At 12:30pm, we called dispatch who told us someone would call us back.  45 minutes
later, we called again and spoke to one of the Trethewey Bros.  He was very caustic and told us about all the other calls we had.  Tried to diagnose the problem over the phone, and told us he didn't know if he would have time to get out all.  They are coasting on their This Old House gig.  They price gouge and are known to be rude to many customers. Just look at all these negative reviews. Try Baker-Elmen Plumbing in Newton.  Professional, prompt and fairly reasonably price!

I'm no pro when it comes to evaluating plumbers, but anyway...

I was on the list for a service call with Tbros yesterday, but I was at the end of the list and they didn't get someone out here until this morning.  I figured this was pretty standard since the other plumbing services I called couldn't get someone out until later this week.

I expected that this would be expensive which it was (I'm in Brookline which seems to up the prices for just about anything anyway).  I had a seal fixed on a toilet (cracked flange and corroded seal).  This was about 2-2.5 hours of work.  It seemed to me like he worked pretty efficiently for that time period.

Anyway, the guy they sent I thought was very professional and did pretty clean work.  That is, he really cleaned up after himself which I can appreciate (I don't think that added much to the overall time he was here).  He explained everything he did and what he had to replace very clearly.   A pretty good plumbing experience overall.

Thank god for these guys. We had an emergency leak in our kitchen on a weekend and had to turn the whole house water off. First tried to get service through our home warranty, but after 2 days of getting jerked around (still without water in 90+ degree heat) and being told they wouldn't make it for another day (so 3 days no water), we called Trethewey instead. Chris B came out within an hour, fixed everything within 3 hours, and was a very helpful pleasant person. A bit pricey, but I'll take it for prompt service in an emergency.

We had previously written a poor review of Trethewey in December 2014.  We tried them again, making an appointment for them to clean and service a munchkin high-efficiency gas boiler.  This time, a knowledgeable plumber with personal and helpful experience with this heating unit came for the appointment. He explained the need for  proper maintenance procedures, reviewed the functioning of the unit with my wife, and made efficient use of time during his visit.  This service call was what we had been used to with Trethewey in the past, and I am hoping that our experience of three months ago was just an outlier.

The services provided to us by T-Bros have included multiple sink/drain line clearing, disconnect/dispose/re-connect an old and new dishwasher, install ice maker water line to new refrigerator, tune up gas-fired hot water circulating boiler, and we are about to have a replacement hot water heater installed.  I have found the company to be very responsive in almost all cases.  Only once did the signals get crossed: we had scheduled service (it was the second half of the dishwasher job) but somehow we had fallen out of T-Bros' calendar and it required a two day push back for rescheduling.  I am no expert in terms of market pricing for tradesmen services but it is my sense T-Bros is competitively priced when I think about other firms we have used over the years.  I encourage others in the Roslindale, West Roxbury, Jamaica Plain, and Brookline areas to consider them for your plumbing and heating needs.  I recommend them without reservation.  Thank you.

Trethewey brothers' plumbers came to install the toilette shell. It seems that during it they cracked the side of the shell. The shell was inspected by me and their people prior to installation and nothing was noticed. I tried to see if it could be covered by insurance, but they claimed that insurance is covering only equipment they provide. Still, they insist on full payment.
I would not recommend their services.

Service has gone down hill. I believe they use a 3rd party which is very unreliable - the 4 hour window is often an 8 hr ordeal - with NO phone calls letting you know they are late or will do a no show. Also, the prices are higher than most other services. They used to be a good service years ago - but I would not recommend them anymore. I have switched to another company that is more reliable and better priced.

I don't know if the prices are high because of this old house but the prices are high. They are pretty reliable though and if it's between calling them once and getting a truck over with a fairly competent plumber or calling a half dozen guys who can't make it over until a week from Thurs and are going to rip you off anyhow they look pretty good. Had an issue with there billing once and got it resolved pretty painlessly.

My one star rating was generous.

If you like paying for someone to come to your house to give you nothing; if you like planning around a 4 hour window just to have no one show up or tell you that you would have to reschedule; if you like having the inconsistency of 15 different plumbers coming to diagnose the same problem, only to have very different solutions, then to be charged for all the different diagnoses; if you like condescending people who say things like, I've had a bad day and I'm not in the mood to negotiate; and if you like being told that the solution is just to take shorter showers (shorter then 5 min?), then you will probably like Tbros.

This is a follow up from my last review. Good news is that they genuinely suck and it was not just a one-off incident!! So stay away.
So after pursuing them for 2 weeks to come and complete the unfinished job, they set up an appointment and the guys never showed up. If i had not called they would not have even informed me that they were not going to show up! Plus who knows whether they even knew what they were going to come and do.
Totally unprofessional and a bunch of novices!

Horrible.  First they came and looked at the job and knew what they were getting into. The following day they scheduled an appointment with us with a four hour window 9-1pm. we had to have the unit owner above us home as well as when they used their tube or toilet it poured down into our unit. At 1pm we called to find out where they were and they said they had to many emergency calls and would have to reschedule. Was not our case of not being able to use water for the past 24 hours not an emergency. Both the unit owner and I wasted a whole day from work and we were told sorry we can get you in 2 to 3 days from know.

One morning I woke up to find that my hot water heater was not working.  I recalled seeing the trucks around the neighborhood so I called Trethewey Brothers.  Initially they were very responsive.  They sent someone over to assess my heater immediately and also informed me that my heater was still under warranty.  The morning they came to replace my heater they were scheduled to be there at 6am.  They did not arrive until 8am.  They replaced my heater at a charge of $640.  I later found out that the actual heater only cost then $75 from the supplier.  I was not upset that the company made a profit, because that's what he does.  I went t work shortly after the heater was replaced and returned home to find I still had no hot water.  I immediately called the company who sent a different worker out to assess the problem.  He was not able to determine the problem.  The following morning they sent yet another plumber out.  I later received call that they think they figured out the problem but that they could not guarantee me that the fix would hold.  I was then informed that I would be charged another $540 for the work they did.  They replaced a two inch pipe with a three inch pipe to assist in ventilation.  The Rheem manufacturer later informed me that this should never have been done.  They stated that the entire length of the pipe needed to be replaced not just a portion of it.  TB's installation was faulty but they still charged me to come out to repair their work.  They were never willing to explicitly state their warranty yet they planned to charge me each time they came out despite the fact that it was less that 24 hours past between their installation and my heater not working.  I believe that they were trying to take advantage of the fact that I am a single woman who was desperate.  Shame on them.  After calling the Rheem manufacturer the problem was detected quickly and repaired free of charge by one of their service technicians in less than ten minutes.

A true case of you get what you pay for.  I'm sure you can get decent plumbing work done for less, but TBros provides very professional responsive service.  When you call, a real person answers the phone and sets you up with an appointment.  I got someone out to my house in less than 24hrs.  They showed up on time, were polite and did a great job.  Yes, it cost about 30% more than I expected (even knowing their rates ahead of time).  I'd give them 5 stars if their charges were more affordable.

Pricing is a rip-off, man comes out diagnosis problem (I already knew what it was) he says you need a new faucet I'll order a new one (20 minutes and he's gone).
New faucet is in, I get another plumber who charges me $140 for his visit and $140 for the other guys visit.  In my mind it's the same call, but their billing system is $140. Each time someone walks in your door wether to diagnose or finish existing job.  I've spent thousands there in the past, they won't ever be getting my call again unless it's absolutely necessary. I knew ahead of time that ,I would be paying 150.00  just for them to show up but what can I say I needed hot water. The guy takes a look turns the pilot light back on looks at the side power vent and says you need a new motor.20 min wow then leaves but before doing so he says if it shuts down again call us . Well yes ,I did but showed up at the store and spoke with Brian . After are conversation he states ,I will order the motor and call you tomorrow...long story short ,I am still waiting for the call back telling me I have the motor ready to schedule an install...the 1 star is for answering the phone...lucky they got that never again..will use them for any service...

I called TBros on my sisters' recommendation that they are very good and that they are honest!  I'm very happy that I called them!

Had pipes in one bathroom that froze up just this afternoon (seemed fine earlier today).  I called in and described the symptoms that cold water is coming out of the faucet but no water when I only turn the hot water on.  They recommended I first try something on my own; and if that did not work, to give them a call back.

Their tip worked and when I called back to thank them, I was only met with genuine response that they were happy it worked and did not need to come and to fix anything.  The person had further suggestions for future.  They gave me free advise and were very courteous.

These guys are honest and will not start work just for the sake of getting some time in to be billed.  They are there to help and give good honest advise!  I will definitely go to them with any future plumbing needs and will highly recommend them to family and friends!

Just had these guys replace a bathroom sink for me.  I have used them in the past and been happy, but was extra happy this time, as the quality exceeded expectations, and the bill came in under budget.  You can't ask for any better than that, and the plumber (Don was his name I believe) himself was that sort of no-nonsense, quality work kind of guys.  Just perfect.  I recommend them highly for this sort of work

I had moved into a condo that had an existing one year old Mitsubishi mini split system that had some issues, so I was referred to Tbros as they're a certified seller of that product. I called up and they scheduled me for an appointment on a Friday morning from 7-11am. Great, I took the day off from work and around 9am received a call from a guy named Bob telling me, Sorry, we scheduled two people for HVAC services today and we only have one technician. We have to cancel. We are rescheduling you to Monday. You will be our first customer of the day. We guarantee it. Well, at least they called.

On Monday I stayed home from work for the first half of the day. The clock kept ticking until I called them around 10am, at which point I was told, by Bob again, Oh no, we forgot to submit your appointment into the system. Sorry! We will make you our first appointment Wednesday morning. We guarantee it! I'm so sorry we made this mistake, but you don't stay in business for over 100 years by not making things right!.

I was really frustrated, but decided on the Wednesday appointment and took another half day off from work. No one showed. I called up and was told, by Bob again(!), Sir, we have no idea who you are and have never spoken to you and have no record of you. I flew off the handle and then suddenly, Oh, I see your name in the system. I'm very sorry. Heads will roll for this! I guarantee you the first appointment Friday morning! It will be 7:00-11:00am. Suuure....

By chance I had that Friday morning off from work as I had a dental appointment. No one showed up until 1:00pm, at which time I was at my office downtown when they called me to say, Where are you?.

I asked to speak to the owner ASAP. I then was transferred to someone else, who knows if it was really the owner, and I gave him the whole litany above. When I was done, and had mentioned how I'd take a few days off from work, he said to me, These things happen when you're busy. I again repeated how many times Tbros screwed up and how I'd taken my time off from work. The response, As I said, these things happen when you're busy. Oh, do they? Well you won't be so busy any longer because I'll never be calling Tbros again.

This owner then said to me that he would schedule me for a Saturday appointment, but because it was a weekend I would have to incur a weekend surcharge of $20. Would he waive it for me after a last minute cancellation, two no-shows, and one arrivals that was two hours past the end time of the appointment? Nope!!

Here's the final insult. Two months later I opened my mailbox and actually received a bill for about $150 from Tbros for fixing my kitchen sink. I called up and spoke to them and explained how they never got into my home and clearly billed the wrong account. I was actually told by their receptionist, That's not possible. How could we have billed you if we never got into your place? How else could we have your name and address. You're responsible for this bill. I then told the receptionist to to listen to me one more time about how Tbros got my name and address and never showed up, but apparently stuck me with the bill for someone else with a similar name/address/account number. I was then told, Ohhh, followed by a promise that I'd be called back in no more than 10 minutes. 25 minutes later I received a call informing me that It's all taken care of. I said, Good. But I'm guessing you won't apologize?. I was told again, The bill is taken care of.

I can't comment on the service of their technicians, but for their customer service from bottom to top, they should be thanking me that they get even one star.

Wow, what a disappointing experience I just had with TBros and wish I never called them. The drain in my house backup into washing machine then onto my basement floor so had a drain company clear it.  In doing so they removed how the wash machine was tied into the drain, which is @ 3' off the floor and piped against code.  Was like this when I bought the home in 1999.

youtu.be/HW-_WA1Psi8

The above is a very close scenario that I have so I called TBros to give me an estimate and they called me back saying that the cost would be time and materials.  Ok is that $1500 or $4000? So I asked for a better idea of a range, the lady said it is best if we send someone out.  Ok seems common practice to me.

Guy arrives at my house, I mention that I saw Rich in this video and would like this set up, after a short blank stare says that he has concerns with this set up because it is a different type of pump over the basin system type...ah really how so?  There are basically two types of pumps, centrifugal and screw and both systems we are talking about here are centrifugal.  Also, both pumping systems we were talking about have the impellers sit in water idle so neither starts dry..don't understand his logic but whatever.

What he then tried to sell me was a power vented system that would require me to run a new vent line up two floors, which the then informed me is illegal in Mass but works.  He has this same system in house so I shouldn't worry that it will not work.  Seriously, you are recommending something that is illegal over the legal one that I asked for?  Anyways, that wasn't an option so he came up with some other type of eye sore scenario.  I asked him to price both.

Then as he finished this (mind you this was less than 30 minutes) he said you have to pay for my time.  $104 for him to come out scratch his head leaving me with less than confidence he knew what he was doing not to mention pushing an illegal recommendation on me.

Needless to say I was first shocked then annoyed, why didn't someone tell me that I had to pay for him to come out when I spoke with them on the phone?  I ask for estimates all the time, I have never paid for someone to give me one but I have some people say that i would have to so thank you not interested.  I would have not had him come out and merely called someone else.  Why didn't this guy say something when he arrived?

As if that wasn't annoying enough, he came out Monday here it is Thursday still no estimate or word from them.

AVOID TRETHEWEY BROTHERS I know I will never call them after this!  Still annoyed that they screwed me out of $104 (yes I know I should have refused to pay since I did not agree to  pay for him come out nor did they let me know I had to) but you gave me a recommendation as the plumber explained to me was illegal in Mass.  I really should report them for that.

Installed new gas tanked water heater on one day's notice (old tank sprang a leak), honored estimate despite the fact that the work took longer than expected, workers were polite and courteous, they left their work area clean.

Worst service and never even came back to replace the part! They came 4 hours late and 15min later told me the mixing valve needed to be replaced on the hot water tank and they would come the next day (saturday) or monday to replace it. I paid them the $96 they said I owed for that visit  and never heard from them again. I would never use them or recommend them. Save your money and hire some real professionals!

We've been doing business with Tretheway Brothers for years. They've done everything from heating maintenance (boiler) to replacing bathroom fixtures. I can't say enough good things about the company and its employees. It's nice to know that when you call you get an immediate response. Anyone who has come into our house has been neat as a pin and all leftover trash has been removed from the site. Of special note is Billy C. always cheerful and smiling.

I called T Bros because they are a small, neighborhood business. My wife and I were looking to redo our bathroom. We got 4 estimates and Trethewey was by far the most outrageous.  They came out right away to take a look. After that, we did not hear from them for several weeks. I told them up front our budget was no more than $15,000 for our 5ft x 9ft bathroom and we weren't looking for top of the line fixtures. When the estimate finally came, it was $28,000 and it would take 5 weeks to complete. We have one small bathroom. Obviously, we did not go with them. They are nice people, but if you are remodeling, look to someone else.

After reading all of the negative reviews, it is time to call the Attorney General and file bad business practices complaints against this place.
I have been using Trethewey Brother for almost 20 years. At one time, the original owner was in charge and the place was dependable and reasonable. This is no longer true. He treated customers with courtesy and respect. Now, another person is in charge, and he is rude and unprofessional.
I have probably spent well over $20,000 through the years on my rental properties with them, and you think that this any customer like this would be given respect and treated with professionalism.
Not the case. The last few years have been terrible, high prices and poor quality.
On 7th December 2018, I called for a service call as one of my tenant's heat system was not working. Mind you, these are the very same people who installed this system several years ago so one would assume that they know what they are doing.
They sent a plumber who spent several hours and could not figure out was wrong, although the heat came on. Then, one week later, the heat went out again. this time they sent a more experienced plumber who spent 2 hours on the same problem. The heat came back on.
Then I got the invoices. I was billed over $400 for the first call and over $200 for the second call. I was shocked.
I called the office and asked to speak with accounting about the invoices. I was put on hold for ten minutes. When someone came back on the call, I was told that the person I would need to talk to was out and that they would call later.
A few days later I received a call from the new owner who started to berate me and insult me. He told me that he was tired of my complaining. Can you imagine??? He then went on to tell me that no one in the office wanted to speak with me. He accused my of bad mouthing his boys and said he was tired of my complaining. I reminded him that I was not complaining but that I wanted to understand why I was being charged so much for the same problem and it was obvious that the first service call was handled inappropriately. I stated that it was the right of a consumer to ask about a bill that I felt was inflated and that he had no right to bully me over the phone. He got angry angry and said that another employee did not even want to talk with me, this person being the one who happens to answer the phones. He also told me that they do not guarantee heating repairs, and that I was out luck, even though they sent two different plumbers in a week for the same problem. Why did one invoice have double the other???
I was in shock.
I guess these people have never heard of the term customer service. You do not insult a customer. Period.
Full disclosure, there have been problems with this place for several years now. I caught an inflated invoice because I had the good sense to call and ask about the time charged. The plumber that they had sent for a job started charging me when they left the office. The new owner had to adjust the invoice. If I had not called, then I would have been charged extra for the job. Guess that they see this as complaining.
Another time on e plumber came out to start a job, and had to leave because he did not have the parts to complete the job. Them, another plumber came out and said the previous did not even need the parts and he completed the job.
By the way, they never put their time on the invoice. You have to call to get the breakdown. Poor business practice.

Very good when you need extensive and creative plumbing.  Communication could use some improvement but that is being addressed.  Appreciate that when i had an issue, owner called personally to address my concerns.  Overall, very good plumbing services.

We have used Trethewey a number of times -- including when we had to replace a boiler and plumb a new bathroom. We've always been pleased with their service, professionalism, and quality of the job. We've also found that their prices are comparable to other quotes. We would happily use them again and recommend them to others.

The iron law of plumbing problems states that they will invariably take place at the most inconvenient time, will require fast service in order to resolve and won't be cheap. When these circumstances converge price becomes less of a consideration than usual. So although Trethewey Brothers' service isn't at all cheap, it takes care of the immediate need with better-than-average speed and service.

My family has used them for years and we've always been impressed with their responsiveness and the thorough nature of their work. Prices are pretty well up there...but when it comes to plumbing problems one can't quibble too much about how much it'll cost. They're also very good about communicating the nature of the problem to homeowners and letting the afflicted know how it'll be taken care of in advance. Communication skills like that are valued when it comes to taking care of an emergency. I'd definately recommend them to anyone living near West Roxbury or Roslindale.

As a Realtor in Roslindale I've been recommending T-Bros for years but had been personally using a much smaller company owned by a friend.  A couple of weeks ago, my hot water heater started to weep, fairly copiously, all over my cellar floor.

Knowing my smaller plumber would be straight out (as they often tell me) with frozen pipes and other winter-time disasters, I emailed Bob Trethewey and he got back to me within a couple of hours.  Because I didn't want to pay the weekend rate and knew how to turn off the water to the tank, we scheduled the job for Monday morning and their man arrived first thing, spent a couple of hours installing a beautiful new HW tank, cleaned up THOROUGHLY (how rare is this?) and I had a hot shower well before lunch time.

I also recently recommended T-Bros to a client whose pipes had frozen behind her kitchen wall.  A handyman had come in and pulled off the sheetrock, but left her with a half-done job and pipes that were still exposed to the elements. (It's been a particularly harsh winter in Boston).  T-Bros showed up promptly, repaired and insulated the pipes, and saved my client much stress and money, as she lives in a second-floor condo and the leak had already caused extensive damage to the unit downstairs.

My go-to plumber from here on in: T-Brothers!

I was concerned about my dryer vent and called Trethewey Bros to clean out the vent and replace the hose. Steve came the next day and did a great job. I will continue to call Trethewey Bros whenever I have a plumbing problem. I have had small problems and big problems and they have handled them all.

BUYER/SERVICEE BEWARE!!!

Our family has used Trethewey Brothers as needed for about two years now since moving back into the service area. 2 jobs completed in that time period to my satisfaction specifically because of the plumber that came to house. Keith, good man. Sat and had coffee with my family each time. Months later and out of no where I experienced VERY AGGRESSIVE collections from their office without being able to prove that a $200 invoice open, was actually due as all invoices were paid with plumber onsite with credit card. VERY rude office management.  Letting that go... I was in need of a 3rd request for service. Not only was I harassed over this unproven debt to collect the $200 prior to appointment (was paid in full finally once they were able to prove this portion of a job was due prior to 3rd appointment), I stayed home from my company for the 7am-11am window in which I was told they would arrive. At 11:30am I contacted the office to check on my appointment as I have half a business day wasted and several employees needing my in office attention. MUCH to my dismay when I contacted TB, the office manager whom answered the phone was extremely rude and unprofessional to me with zero compassion for my time and service needs after being very level headed with her. Short, sharp rude answers. She simply got more and more attitude as I questioned her in regards to her not informing me of the tardiness and requesting to give me a new window of time so I could plan accordingly and simply said we will be there when we get there. Then... Do you want to cancel with plenty of go screw yourself attitude in her voice. ZERO customer service. At that moment I asked to talk to her boss. Her boss got on phone and I asked him how his day was. Then I proceeded to express in kind my experience with his representative. He called me a liar basically saying he highly doubts that, I know my girls too well I'm not gonna get into this with you. How can I help you? I said you can help me by telling me how you will discipline your representative for talking to a customer the way she did? He said in an a VERY aggressive and cocky voice I'm not gonna go round and round with you. How can I help you specific to your job I said just cancel it.

PEOPLE, their are many good plumbers out there. My father lives down cape and is crippled with 3 different types of arthritis, body run into the ground at 60 years old still from 42 years of plumbing and still crawling through spaces to get the job done . Its a sad day when you are treated like a POS when hiring a skilled labor unit to service your home. The culture internally at TBros is at best disgusting at best in management. FIND GOOD CULTURE AT THE CORE IN THE COMPANIES YOUR COMMISSION TO SERVICE YOU. They will enrich your lives and experience. No one is perfect but when your spending your time and money... Stick with harmonious driven entities. Stay away from this one.

This is an overpriced, incompetent company. What the heck happened to the company Mom would immediately call when there was a plumbing problem years ago? I used them for a relatively small job.  Much like many of the reviewers I was given a time frame to which they would arrive.  When the time past, I called and was told that the prior job was so complex that it ran over. Another two hours later, a guy shows up and installs a brand new faucet; a very basic job for the typical plumber.  This guy was finished in 15 minutes and handed me a bill for $200.  I questioned him and he was adamant about the price. Well, within two weeks this faucet starts rolling around in the hole cut in the granite and wobbling as though something had loosened up. I call Tbros and the girl was quite nice but after talking to her supervisor, explained that I'd have to pay again because I was just over their warranty period. I'm mad that I waited to call but even madder that they don't stand by their work after such a short time. They are overrated and overpriced and, most importantly, not the trusted plumbers from years ago. Steer clear if you have a problem.

My wife called Trethewey Bros. and set up an appointment.  After waiting nearly all day, she phoned the company and was told that they were very busy that day and the plumber had to deal with a more important problem and if she wanted to reschedule for another day she could do so.

She did not.  We would not call them again.  My wife waited around all day after taking the day off from work.

My manager recommended TBros and despite their low ratings I decided to give them a call. The first time they serviced my heating units they arrived within the scheduled window and we're very friendly and professional. They replaced some parts and were on their way.

Unfortunately, a few days later there was an odd gas smell. I called them back and they booked an appointment to come by again. This time I got Gregg and he was awesome. He fixed the leak, without charge, and worked quickly and efficiently. He also explained the problem in terms I could understand and gave me tips on how to check for other issues I had expressed concern with.

Overall I think the company provides good service and are easy to work with. Price wise I think it's reasonable since they spend a good amount analyzing and fixing your issues.

Hope this helps!

My gas water heater was not working  and needed to be  replaced  so I first went to Lowes and purchased a water heater from them with the installation . What a mistake that was! The contracted plumber arrived on time but with a really cocky attitude looked at my gas water heater and said  no can't do this, its going to cost you more money , I'm confused with the current set up , the dryer its in the way  who's going to pay to move it .Was he a plumber or a handyman, I was confused more then him.

I returned the gas water heater to lowes and decided to go to Tbros since they were 5min from my home . Before going , I took pic's on my phone to show the current hook up and water heater I had currently . First impression , I was greeted by two lovely ladies at the front desk . They went and got a plumber so I can speak and explain what I needed . I showed him the pic's and he new exactly what , I needed . Priced me a quote and set up a delivery and install for the next day .

John and Shawn should up on time very friendly no cocky ness here . Looked at my current sit up and were a little confused at first but made a phone call right away to Mike ( master plumber ) he came with in 15-20 min and looked at the current sit up and gave his second opinion . The gas water heater  that was there was done incorrect with the wrong safety gas shut offs . It was not safe and not up to code .

When changing a gas or electric water heater please let the pros do it don't let a handyman or try to  do it yourself to try to save some money it could be costly mistake .

Thanks to John, Mike and Shawn , I can sleep at night . They took the time to make sure it was done right ...!

We called Trethewey when our bathroom sink was clogged, and turns out the  sink drain pipe was rusted through too!  They removed some tiles behind the sink, replaced the piping, and we also needed to have the tiles replaced so we met with Dennis Meurer,  of Meurer Construction and he put new backboard behind the sink and replaced the tiles expertly and neatly!  Thanks to Trethewey Bros. And Dennis Meurer our Bathroom is now functioning and looking better than new!

I called them to give me an estimate for a new boiler and direct water heater. They came out on a Friday morning told me I would have the estimate by Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest.  Here it is 3 weeks later and left 2 messages and still no call back or estimate. I guess my money isn't good enough for them.

T-Bros to the rescue! I called T-Bros with a ridiculous request for a same-day disconnect and re-connect for a new gas dryer. The woman answering the phone was polite and efficient. She scheduled a plumber to come out that morning. Amazing! But not the best yet. The same day I had a contractor (supplied by the appliance store) coming to replace my dishwasher which was under warranty. The store's plumber was in my driveway and already saying I don't know if the dishwasher will fit What? You're not even in the house yet!  I was replacing a Kitchen Aid with another Kitchen Aid. The old Kitchen Aid, installed by T-Bros, was done superfast without any complications. The store's plumber started rattling on about liability. He looked like he had just gone for a manicure and didn't want to ruin his nails! When I said T-Bros did the install the last time with no problem at all, he said Have them do it!  So, I immediately called T-Bros. I know I was pushing my luck with the nice lady on the phone who had already jumped through hoops to get me the same day dryer disconnect and install-but I needed help. I now had 2 dishwashers sitting in my kitchen. I called T-Bros, explained the story to the lovely lady on the phone and she said T-Bros plumber would do it all. No problem. The plumber arrived a half hour later. Quickly finished the dryer work and got right down to the dishwasher uninstall and new install. He was polite, professional, friendly, knowledgeable--and clean! He cleaned up after himself. My kids and husband don't even do that! I could tell this plumber knew exactly what he was doing. Both jobs were done perfectly in 1 1/2 hours. I highly recommend T-Bros. We have used them many times. They installed our new heating system, hot water heater, 2 stoves, 2 dishwashers, etc.  They have come out for emergency service for frozen pipes, etc. Lifesavers! I will definitely use them again. I recommend you do, too!

Had Trethewey in today to fix a leaking faucet, blocked drain in a sink and a tub. The plumber explained everything first and also gave me options (cheaper to more expensive). We all know plumbers are expensive (as are electricians) so I usually save non-urgent plumbing issues so I can get a few fixed at a time. This is the 5th or 6th time (in the last 10 years)  I have used Trethewey and I have only had good experiences. The guys are courteous and I will continue to use them (hoping not for a while).
