Terrible company with unqualified technicians and even worse customer service.  They had to come out to my residence 3 times to fix a Simple condensate leak and they couldn't even finish that.  I would not hire them to change an air filter!

Peter came and checked everything in my bathroom sink to see why the hot water was so slow to turn on - he told me he would follow-up with the building manaagement and get back to me - he never got back to me. I called the plumb company to get in touch with him a few times, and still never got a call back.

We've had hohman through MassEnergy for several years now. They're great, very responsive whenever we've had a problem with the furnace. Thanks

The heating in my back radiator would not stop throwing out heat a few months ago.  I had someone come out from A  Hohmann and they checked the valve, moved the lever to the front - and said it was now fixed & that this radiator would now, NOT throw out heat in the summer.  The problem is after he left, in continued to throw out heat. (In the summer). I called them within a day to say, that this issue was not  fixed. And that I needed a call back from the plumber who came out. I called them numerous times - and no call back.  They just keep sending me a bill for $125. And NO CALL back and no resolution.  Horrible service.

I've used the Hohmann Company several times in both my home and my rental property - EXTREMLY SATISFIED and recommend them HIGHLY.   I've had them install 2 furnaces, 1 furnace with a/c, as well as various plumbing work - perfect work with very competitive pricing.   Couldn't ask for nicer work crew -- ALWAYS prompt, courteous with excellent work & clean-up.

My furnace heater went down today/Saturday, after the snow storm in Dorchester, and I called A Hohmann, because their contact sticker was on my newly installed furnace to call for service. About 12:30 P.M. I left a message with their answering service, which was a real friendly person.
15 Minutes later I received a call from Phil and 30 minutes later he was at my house fixing the furnace problem.
He was very professional, courteous and educational. He explained what the problem may be each step of the way, and was very efficient with his troubleshooting skills. He discovered the problem in less than 10 minutes, fixed it, and departed by 1:30 P.M. Great Service-Only 1 hour from call to finish! Speedy Response-30 minutes or less on the weekend and after a snow storm! Real Person Answering the Phone-Very professional and courteous lady! Professionalism-wore a mask, and booties, clean, and friendly! I called my sister immediately after Phil left to rave about the service, and that's when she told me, she'd been using their services for over 25 years! She said she hired them when she owned a home in Dorchester and they were called McIntyre, and now that she owned a house in Easton, she still maintained her business relationship with them there, because they are that Good! That's what I call a successful family business!!! I've dealt with many contractors over the years and I have to say that they are one of the best in their fied, hands down!

I highly recommend A Hohmann Plumbing.  They provide excellent service in a timely manner at competitive prices.  They were initially recommended  by our building manager. We have utilized their services at our condo in Boston for plumbing, heating and AC service and repair since 2016.  

The technicians always have arrived in the 2 hour block that is scheduled promptly by the efficient and pleasant office staff.  If we are not on-site the technicians coordinate with our Super for access to our unit and the roof (when necessary).  

Scott Hohmann, the owner, is accessible and thoroughly explains the pros and cons of different options when repairs or system replacement is necessary.  He is flexible in utilizing whatever method of communication works for me in different situations.  Calls, text or email allow for reporting problems, sending photos when necessary, and receiving estimates.

Scott, Tommy, and Nick have all performed service in our unit.  Over the past 3 years they have installed a disposal, repaired leaks, added water sensors and automatic shutoff valves for the water heater and washing machine, added ducts to a new room, reduced AC/Heater noise and improved airflow with a larger return when an inadequately sized return was found hidden in a wall (due to earlier construction), performed preventative maintenance, and most recently replaced a heat pump/AC condenser on the roof.  All have been done in a timeframe that met my expectations.

When I have left a message after hours with the night call service they return the call early the following morning, or in the case of an emergency within 15 minutes.

Cost: I believe their labor rate is competitive with other Boston area companies. When we had to have the blower unit, heater and AC coil moved 2 years ago to allow for a larger return and install the new return in a small space I received estimates from 4 firms.  I  decided on Hohmann since the cost was below the other companies by 25% and my previous experiences with their work were excellent.

Our condo management association asked this company to come in to take a look at our HVAC leak. After several consultations, they said it would be $1800, but potentially up to $8000 depending on the damage that they would find after more detailed inspection.

Despite the costs, I was still going to hire Hohmann for our repairs, because after all, our condo mgmt recommended them. However, they wouldn't respond to our several e-mails, calls or voicemails.

I found another HVAC specialist (with stellar 52 5-star reviews) and called him for a second look. $350 and 2 hours later, our issue is fixed and he even cleaned out our entire HVAC system during this time.

Avoid Hohmann.

Service was fine and got same day delivery.  I was required to pay by credit card to get them to come out short notice which is fine, but then I received a paper bill in the mail.  I can't help but be suspicious that this is a scam that probably works on the elderly and others.

I wish there were 6 stars!  The water heater had problems in my So End condo.  I had paid another plumber $4000 and it still did not work.  What a mess.  Called Hohmann's for a second opinion and felt very comfortable with the analysis.  Very professional and knowledgable. They had to hoist the heating system first before they put in the new water heater.  Quick and efficient.  Also, it looked great!  I cannot say enough!

I honestly can say that this is the best service company I have ever used. After becoming a young home owner under some sad circumstances my 100 year old 2 family needed (and continues to need) some plumbing and heating help. Every service call I have made has been professionally handled from the initial call to the actual service delivered. Including the weekend service calls during storms and frigid temperatures. I always ask questions and the guys take their time to explain what they're doing and why. I am forever grateful to them for the multiple calls (never for the same things). Thank you for your continued service and dedication.

We specifically requested Hohmann as part of the P&S on our new house to be the ones to inspect, clean, and repair (if necessary) the boiler. The first visit was ok - they fixed a few minor items and tuned the boiler. There was a stuck valve for the basement zone that they said they would need to come back to fix. Due to scheduling issues on their part, they couldn't get back until after we closed on the house (closing 11/15, return visit 12/12), so we held some money back at the closing to deal with the last open item.

Their tech came back on Dec 12. I called later that week for a follow up and was told the invoice would go out in a few days. I've called at least once a week since then, and been continually told that it was coming. I'm _asking_ for a bill, folks. Last week I was told that they couldn't find anything in the system and they would have to check with the tech and call me back. No callback. I called again today and was told that NO REPAIR WAS DONE because they apparently needed an electrician. It's January 12 - it's been a MONTH of phone calls. Supposedly the tech who did the work is going to call me back with more details. I highly doubt I'll hear from him. Their front desk people are also rude and unhelpful.

I'm disgusted. Hohmann used to be my go-to company, but I'm never using them again.

We worked with A Hohmann and Co for several months over the course of the summer of 2018 after we bought a new home in Milton.  We had multiple plumbing jobs with completed with them (two bathroom toilets, sinks and faucets installed plus a kitchen faucet) and tried to apply for a loan through the Mass Save program for a boiler and hot water replacement.  The first and primary issue is that no invoice they provided over 8 weeks of back and forth could pass the standards of the Mass Save program to replace our heating system and hot water heater - it was sent back for revisions by the program at least 5 times.  The staff in the office barely read our emails and deflected every single question to Ed the owner who was extremely busy.  When we changed HVAC contractors, the new invoice was accepted on the first submission.  

The plumbing side of the business was even worse.  If you want plumbers who need 3 visits to install a bathroom sink or 4 hours to install a second bathroom sink while damaging your newly refinished tub...well these guys are for you!   The son who runs the plumbing side of the business couldn't care less about complaints.  They just send the invoice, tell you to pay $700 for a sink installation, and wish you luck.  Look elsewhere.

This company gets a capital F, the customer service from the on call and office staff sucks. The boiler they installed pilot light went out and they have no one to repair it until next week Wednesday thru Friday and they can't guarantee that someone will be available.  Do not use this company.

Hohmann has been our fuel service provider for over 20 years.  They are dependable and responsive.

Had an oil leak called them in the late morning to have someone come and take a look.  I called back 6 times and not one call back.  We had our oil tank installed with them just two years ago and have a service contract.  But what good is it if you get no call back.   I ended up going with a diff. Company, even with our oil tank under warrant, not worth my time.

STAY AWAY!!!  I called them (a million times or so) to have a heat pump blower fixed. They came about 2 weeks later and said the fan had to be rebuilt. They send it out for a month and comes back, they install it and a week later it stops working. After calling them a million times again, they come back and say the unit had to be replaced. They give me a quote for $15K, yes $15K to replace 1 heat pump (my apartment has 3), I was about to go ahead but decided to get another quote, I called GG mechanical. They came right away, Michael Baldwin a great, nice guy, they gave me a quote for $16k FOR ALL 3 HEAT PUMPS!! I have attached pictures of each quote so you don't think I am making it up. They replaced all 3 and I am very happy with them. I know it is hard to believe. I do not work for gg believe me. I then complained to Hohmann and told them I wasn't going to pay and what they do?...They send me to a collection agency. I have also attached a picture. I will report them to the BBB but in the mean time... STAY AWAY!!

Just had my kitchen faucet replaced and a leak in my basement fixed by Hohmann today.  What a wonderful couple of guys that came to work! They were so nice and pleasant, knew what they were doing and just made the entire experience wonderful. I'm so in love with my new faucet and beyond happy with the service I received.

I have used them for years. They always go the extra Mile. They don't push buying new equipment unless its really necessary. In one home, they put a new furnace in. They were professional, they were very thorough in the installation. They are overall excellent. A family owned business that cares.

A. Hohmann charged me for oil delivery made to my previous residence months after my lease had ended and I moved out of the property.  I discovered the collection years later when reviewing my credit prior to a home purchase and when I contacted them to get it resolved.  I was told I should've found it earlier.  When I told them I had a copy of my lease agreement from the next residence showing that I no longer lived at the previous residence, I was then told I needed a certified letter stating I had vacated the property, whatever that means.  When I voiced my dissatisfaction with how the dispute was being handled, I was told we cant help you if you won't help us and was hung up on.  I don't know what kind of legitimate business does something like that.

my condo association uses Hohmann for HVAC and plumbing.  I've had great experiences with their HVAC team, but I've had nothing but bad experiences with their plumbing group and Scott Hohmann.  They came about 8 months ago to fix my broken faucet.  They first came to inspect the problem - this 2.5 minute visit cost me $150, even though I told them exactly what the problem was.  They finally came back 3 weeks later to fix the problem... but they did NOT fix it.  The guy told me it was fixed and left, but as soon as I checked it, it was still the same problem.  He was clearly being shady and wouldn't come back and fix the problem.  ALSO, he damaged another part of the faucet (which had to be replaced) and he badly scratched my stone counter top.  So then they send another guy a few weeks later and he halfway fixes the faucet - water comes out of it, but it's crooked and wasn't fully put back together.  A few weeks later, they send me a huge bill, even charging me for all the parts they damaged and the multiple visits!  I called to complain and Scott Hohmann came out to look at the damage done to my countertop.  He said they would send someone out to fix it.  This was in June.  8 calls and 7 months later, the faucet is poorly installed and the countertop is still damaged.  I can't even get a call back from these guys - such terrible customer service.  Do not use Hohmann!

We needed to replace our 60 year old boiler and water heater. The owner came out to look at our unit and spoke to my husband about what he thought the best course of action would be. We received many different quotes and his was the lowest. We were also told about a rebate for the water heater which I did not know about. I only knew about the mass save early rebate.

Since we have a 5 month old baby they were able to get it done while the weather was still warm (some companies have over a month wait time). Also, other companies would come out to give us a quote then never actually sent us the quote! I am still waiting on one from July!

Each time I called the office they were pleasant and always answered my questions.

I am very pleased with the service that was provided and would 100% recommend them.

Called Hohmann Wednesday last week for appointment following Monday. Called Monday @3PM only to have answering service tell me they all went home. 'There is on guy on call, did I want him to call me'????? Wellllllll........no one ever returned my call.

We used them once before, they were ok- I guess that didn't count.
Find someone else.

DO NOT ever use this company. Horrendous customer service. We got an invoice for the service that the service person said free of charge and tried to fix it by calling the customer service. Ashley was the name of the customer rep and she said that she will check the situation and will get back to me a month ago. And obviously she did not follow up. After a month I got the exact same invoice again without any explanation and called her again. When I told her that we were told that we didn't need to pay for the service (it was basically just turning off a valve in the AC unit - and they service our condo building anyway), she said that he shouldn't have said that but we are still obligated to pay $175. And she hung up on me. And when I tried to call her again, she repeated that they will send this case to a collector... and hung up again. It seems like a lot of people who's complaining have experienced similar situation with the customer rep. Really upsetting and frustrating!!!!!!!!

We didn't get past quoting. The owner was a blow-hard, talking over me through the 3 min conversation. He wouldn't tell me what specifically he was installing. No part or model numbers, just told me he doesn't break it down that way meaning he doesn't tell you what he's installing so you can isolate materials from labor costs. Seriously, would you buy a car if they quoted you a price and just said they'd pick out a Buick for you? No model info? I was also calling about a new furnace, but there was no point in continuing the conversation.

Avoid A Hohmann completely! I contacted them when my AC condenser fan broke during the heat wave two weeks ago. They said they'd get back to me on when they could get someone to my unit. Another company responded, came and diagnosed the problem, gave me a quote and ordered parts. Then a tech from A Hohmann came, unauthorized, no call, no email...and removed my fan and motor. I had the AC limping along otherwise, but when they took the fan they disconnected the condenser so I had no AC for a week. The other company that was responsive is here today with a new motor, but A Hohmann took the fan! I called to ask them to return the fan blade and they had the gall to tell me they won't return the fan until they are paid. So they are holding my fan blade hostage and telling me I have to pay for services that I never authorized!  They are an unethical, unresponsive, scam of a company...and this is the second time they've tried to bill me for services I never authorized and that they never performed. STAY AWAY!!!

Awful service! Plumber came to fix a problem with my water heater but made it worse! Poor troubleshooting skills. Changed my shower head, made my problem worse, at least before I had a hot water for ~10 mins, now it would run cold in 1-2mins. After a few calls, he came back later that day, replaced an element in my water heater, still problem was worse than when they first came! Kept calling them for 4 days to have them go back and finish, supposedly Scott the owner would call me. Never called!  Ashley in the office is very nice, finally passed my call over to Ed Hohmann, which was very rude, could care less about the fact that I had been without hot water for 4 days because of their incompetence, hung up the phone twice on me as I was trying to get this solved.

I ended up calling another plumber. DO NOT USE THESE GUYS!

I called on August 8th about needed service to our a/c unit. I was told by the person on the phone that she'd put me on the list but that they were very busy. I called on August 10th and was told that they were still busy but that she would call me on Monday, August 13th to let me know when they might be able to fit me in. She never called, so I have given up and went in another direction.

The service is horrible. The lady at the telephone just called me stupid.

I wanted to cancel the appointment, because I remember an earlier incident with the company, where they replaced a small plastic pipe in my kitchen and charged later 350$ for that. They main part of the bill were from the charged hours during the 1.5hour break the workers took during this easy fix.

In total, the picture is very consistent. Unfriendly, yelling at the telephone, late workers and expensive bills later.

I can only warning for this company

I called the same day to get my pressure release valve fixed on my hot water heater. $147/hr + parts. All in $189. Joe and Tom are nice, smart gentlemen. Quick service and very thoughtful. I will use them again to service my furnace and A/C.
