One of the local plumbers told me that I need a new sewer line and it was going to cost me $15k. I asked the local hardware store (Settergren's) who's opinions I trust a great deal, and they recommended that I get a second opinion. Settergren's has a list of vendors that their customers with whom their customers have had good experiences and JMJ is one of the plumbers on the list. Joe, the JMJ owner, came by the next day and helped me think it through and decided to wait and see. He ended up doing some work to keep the line clear at a very reasonable price. Joe is an honest, hard-working guy that you can trust. I recommend him without reservation.

Low integrity, predatory billing.
Called Weld & Sons on a weekend when I wasn't available to come look at a leak that was pouring down from a pipe in the ceiling. I am aware of weekend pricing and that it was going to be extra, not a problem. Initially excited to have found someone available as my plumber was out of town.
Technician comes out and calls me in less than 15 minutes to let me know that the upstairs dishwasher was the thing leaking (happened to be above a pipe below), and that they don't fix dishwashers, going to have to find someone else to fix it .
No problem. Really sucks that I wasn't available to check it myself but I figure for a 15 minute call, even with the weekend pricing, shouldn't be too bad. Plumbers are insanely expensive, so maybe $150. Lord knows they couldn't with a straight face charge $200 for an unfixed issue.
$375 is my bill. Yes that's correct. $375. Their call waiting boasts of their integrity and honesty I don't know about you, the last time I drove somewhere and fixed nothing I didn't charge a couple 8 hour days worth of work's money for it. Completely predatory. I called Mark, the manager or owner, and he says there's nothing we can do. The technician was there checking and testing stuff. No he wasn't. He called me with the source of the leak in 15 minutes, said he couldn't fix it, and left.
Absolutely horrible. Look elsewhere for your plumbing needs. There is something you can do, Mark. You can, when your technician fixes nothing, charge a reasonable price and maintain a good reputation. But you had a chance and chose money instead.

Mike is amazing. Response time is fast, the service and communication are top-notch and what homeowners desire when repairs are needed. Mike responded, got a free quote out, and replaced the a/c unit in less than 48 hours! Call Mike!

Our aging house had a floor drain backup in the basement, and I ended up calling them on a Friday afternoon. They were one of the few places willing to give an estimate over the phone (common problem, takes an hour, here's what it costs). Other places wanted to send a person out for an estimate, and one was even going to charge me for it. Np thank you.
So, we talked through things, and they said they wanted to save me some money and not ping me with the weekend surcharge. Well, we still had one bathroom that wasn't backing up the drain every time we flushed, so we were willing to tough things out until Monday to save a few bucks. Kudos to American Sewer for not rabidly jumping on the chance to gouge us for some weekend work.
Monday rolled around and the guy showed up promptly after lunch as promised. He was very courteous and respectful of our home, and he got straight to work. Diagnosis? A clog right at the main cleanout. Easy peasy. And as long as he was there and had the equipment, he asked if I wanted him to put the camera down the sewer line to check for roots or other problems. It may or may not have been entire necessary as we've never had problems, but with an older home it's something a homeowner should know.
Every single step of the way, he was very clear about what he was doing, why he was doing it, and he very clearly explained any service that would cost extra. At no point was I ever in the dark as to what the bill would be.
Sure enough, that old cast iron pipe had roots growing in. So we went ahead with the rooter to break them up, and in the process the sewer pipe partially collapsed. Like, the roots had broken through, and the only thing still holding the pipe together was the roots that had to be removed because they were obstructing the pipe. It was unfortunate but bound to happen considering the shape that the pipe was in, and I suppose it's better that it collapsed while we had the scope there to see the damage from the inside.
In the end, I was satisfied with the service. Had it not been for the pipe collapsing, it would have been a routine in and out job for a fair price. I was given not one but three references from them for replacing that pipe, and they advised that I still check around for a better deal anyway. The owner even gave a follow-up call to make sure I was satisfied with the service.
American Sewer was the right choice to make. Fair price, clear estimate over the phone, and the job was done in a timely manner. I hope to never need them again (don't ask me about cleaning up my basement floor), but I won't hesitate to calm if I need their services.

An easy 5 stars. What more could you ask for? On time, fair prices, will only do what is needed and not try to sell you something, neat, honest, friendly, and most of all does great work. No reason to look for any other plumber.

I've used Pete to help me finish my basement bathroom as well as a bonus room bath. I've also given his name to many of my friends for their projects such as toilet replacement, leaky faucet repairs, and used him at our place of business (flooring replacements). Pete always responds and gets the job done when we need him to!

Just got our fall furnace tune up for $39. Watch their ads for sale prices. They have done many projects for us with great results and reasonable prices. All the technicians we have worked with have been excellent but Rick is always the best.

Ken's serviced our duplex by cleaning out our main line. The work was fine but we were given a quote over the phone and it wasn't until after they completed all the work that they decided to charge us $60 more than the original estimate because the drain was longer than they expected. We felt this was unfair as we hired them expecting a certain price and they were unwilling to honor their original quote. Disappointed and probably won't use again.

They came to install a water pressure reduced in my townhome community. It looks like that went ok cause it seems fine, which is why they get two stars instead of one. While they were there I asked them to install a sink I had bought new in box in the kitchen. They agreed on the price. Install reducer, install sink and a new insinkerator $1025. They said they'd call me if they were going to cut a larger hole in the sink cause the old one's hole was slightly smaller since they were afraid of chipping the counter. Didn't hear from them for a while so contacted them. They did cut and only told me after they did it. Had an RO system hooked up and asked them to remove it and leave it if it was easier. They left all the boxes, old sink, all the garbage and a leaking RO (reverse osmosis) unit on the laminate I just laid down for a remodel. When I texted them back about the garbage they said they'd come back and said they'd get back to me. Just dealt with it myself cause I didn't hear back and wanted it gone. Didn't seal all around the sink, and a part of the hole that they cut is visible outside the sink it's a small detail but important to me cause I've never seen that in anyone else's house. Told them that and that the sink was not quite level. Remedied some of the situations by myself again after telling them about it. They stopped responding. I'll post photos and the text exchange and no response when I get the chance later next week but thought I'd save someone a headache. They seemed to have done great for others.

I spoke with Jermiah. I also spoke with Keith. The person that came to my house was named Luke. I explained the problem and he wanted to try the motorized snake. It didn't work. The clog was too deep. Luke was in over his head, he called Keith a few times while he was at my place. He wanted to see were my home connected to the main sewer line (we live in a mobile home) It is underneath and I showed him. He very obviously balked at what needed to be done. I asked if their company had a jetter. He called Keith again (or at least pretended to) And then told me Keith would be out with a jetter later that night. He also told me I would have to pay more he said ridiculously expensive. I told him I don't care how much it costs this has to get done now. So again he tells me Keith will be out but it might be very late. I asked for Keith's number and he told me it was against company policy for him to give me the number (even though I already had the number because Keith had called me a couple times earlier in the week.) He then wanted to settle up with me and I said I would pay when the job was finished. He said something about having 2 invoices because it will be 2 jobs. He only charged me $115 for the service call. He did not charge me for the snaking or his time. 2 hours after he left I called Keith and asked him if he was coming with a jetter. Keith said -I don't know what you're talking about, I don't have a jetter, our jetter is in the shop, I got 2 more jobs tonight and I'm going home.- The bottom line is, I paid somebody $115 to rip my toilet off, he didn't even re-install it. Then they abandoned the job.

I called because I had my house for sale, accepted an offer, had the inspection and inspector said I had low water pressure. B & B came to my house and told me It was the screens and shower head, so it was not a big job. Brian (the owner) said he ordered parts and would fix it. Closing came quick and he quit responding. I ended up having to take $6200 less because it was too small of a job and he strung me along until it was TOO LATE! TERRIBLE BUISNESS AND I WILL TELL EVERYONE I KNOW!!!

Don't recommend them. They called the day of my scheduled appointment and told me the plumbers decided to leave early for the 4th of July weekend and that they couldn't help me. Dave recommended that I call another company. Ha. Too funny!

If it were possible to rate Genz-Ryan with zero stars, I would. We had very expensive repairs done to our AC and furnace. The AC repairs were needed because of damage caused by a mouse. I asked for an itemized bill, so I could see if our homeowners insurance would cover the damage caused by the mouse. I was told that they usually don't itemize their bills, but would make an exception because of our need for the insurance claim. We did not receive an itemized bill. On my 4th contact with customer service I was called a liar and told no one would have ever told me they'd give me an itemized bill, when in fact 3 different employees had told me they could make an exception. I have to wonder how they are coming up with the figures for their repairs when they can't even tell me how much was due to repairs to the furnace and how much was due to the AC. I will NEVER use them again!
