Epic Plumbing & Heating Plumbing Service
These guys showed up and assessed the situation quickly.   We had such a hard time finding a plumber that would even look at our small job.  And the few that did come out wanted to do way more work than we were looking for and charge us thousands.  These guys got the work done on schedule, within budget and did it right!

I've hired Jim Richard for several jobs in my home in Somerville and am very satisfied with his work. Jobs included: new plumbing both gas and water lines for a kitchen and bath renovation. He also replaced a large portion of my house's vent stack. Jim is trustworthy because he arrives when he says he will arrive, and answers emails/texts promptly.

Raimo Bros Plumbing Plumbing Service
These plumbers are nice, fair, and, do good work. They were really polite to us, even though I left a mess in the walkway outside with gardening stuff (nobody should have to step in my pile of dead slugs on the way to the basement) and my youngest kid wanted to watch some of the installation of our new water heater. They came on a Saturday and explained how some of the stuff in our basement works, as in where the big drain is for letting out water if the basement ever floods.

Belanger & Sons Plumbing Service
Steve was outstanding.  Clean and quick.  I couldn't be happier with the work and price.  He did a fantastic job and helped me out when I had a pipe burst in two places on my baseboard heating system.  This was due to frozen pipes so he recommended antifreeze.  I wasn't aware that this was possible.  This is the kind of person I want to do business with.  Someone who's looking out for his customer and makes suggestions based on his expertise.  I called him for an emergency but now he's my plumber for everything going forward.

Excel Plumbing and Heating Plumbing Service
LB was great. A few months ago he helped my mother replace a water heater and did a great job for a reasonable price.

I remembered his good service and called him to fix part of my boyfriend's water heater. He was able to come the same day and was super communicative about his arrival time and even called us twice to let us know there was bad traffic and to confirm it was still okay for him to come.

Did a speedy job and even checked our dryer ducts while he was here. 10/10 would recommend Excel!!

Vaughan Plumbing & Heating Plumbing Service
I had a leaking pipe between floors. Called 15 minutes before their published opening time, expecting to leave a message. Got right through to a receptionist. She took my information and I got a call back from Greg within 5 minutes.  Greg immediately dispatched a plumber. About 45 minutes after my first call, Chris was at my house diagnosing the issue. I can't say enough good things about Chris. He showed/explained what he was doing each step of the way. Very professional, efficient and kept the inevitable mess and debris contained and cleaned up afterward. Very reasonable prices. Excellent experience. Highly recommend and would use again.

P Floros Plumbing and Heating Company Plumbing Service
This is guy is a quality plumber. He showed up on time, in a fully loaded van and immediately recognized the problem. I had a leaking faucet valve and needed a new drain fitted, as well as a bidet installed. He had all the tools for the job and the material already in his van. Got all the work done in about an hour and gave me an estimate on some other work I want done. THIS GUY IS A REAL PLUMBER ! Hire him!

LaMattina's Plumbing and Heating Plumbing Service
I had 6 licensed plumbers come give me the same quote for a remodel project, La Mattina's was the highest (double the other bids) and the most/only frustrating experience. The owner kept pointing his finger in my face when I questioned why his prices were so high and he would respond with I have been doing this for 30 years... call the building inspector, we are good friends. The gentlemen said he does not touch bathrooms for under $5,000... but also told me he pays his plumbers around $100/hr and that the job would take a day or two.... When I asked why he justified (payment breakdown) having someone pay him roughly $4,000 profit to connect  PVC pipes for a day he became so frustrated and rude I had to ask cut the appt. short because he was making me uncomfortable.I hope he was having a bad day and this was not an accurate representation of his character and a local professional. Although, he was on time and was knowledgeable in his field.

Ridiculously expensive prices with terrible customer service.  They actually hung up on me when I disagreed with what they were saying.

George S Patey and Sons Plumbing Service
I called Patey plumber and set up an appointment for my leaking shower tub. They were very busy and I got an appointment for one week later. I thought it's a little bit too far away, but it's also a good sign that many people use their service. So I agreed to wait for a week. Another reason is the price. I called two other plumbers and they either did not return my call or charge $79 for the trip alone, plus high hourly rate. Patey plumber charges $45 for the trip and $92 per hour with minimum of half hour charge. So one would have to pay at least $91 for their service. I don't know why plumbers charge such a high hourly rate, but that's what almost all plumbers I called charge. So I have to reluctantly accept the rate. I patiently waited one week and Patey plumber called exactly the time (8 AM) they were suppose to call me and told me they were on their way to my house.
The guy was very efficient and I provided him with as much help as I can to smooth things out. And he did a wonderful job quickly fixed the leak within less than an hour. We live in a 100 years condo with very old plumbing systems, so that's not easy. I was a little worried that he will milk the rate up like two other reviews suggested, but he did not. He only charged me 40 min of his time which is exactly the time he spent at the job. I asked him to estimate two other leaks and he was very knowledgeable and told me a quick quote without the part price which the secretary called to tell me an hour later.
The whole experience was just as good as it gets. So I am giving them 5 stars. I will call them next time for my plumbing needs.

Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup Plumbing Service
After a clogged kitchen sink and even the garbage disposal running wouldn't clear it and it kept backing up, my husband did everything he could to handle the clog himself by opening traps and using a 25 foot snake.  When he realized that the clog was further than his snake would go, he decided to call Roto Rooter at about 4:30pm.  Although they were tied up with other jobs on this late Sunday afternoon, they did arrive before 7pm and got the job done.  Although pricey at $359 for maybe less than an hour's work they handled the task professionally and efficiently.  The technician, Mike, could not have been nicer and even left his phone number in case there was an issue after he left.  We were very pleased.

Donners Mechanical Plumbing Service
I got Donners Mechanical's contact information from Republic Plumbing Supply.  I was looking for a local company (Allston/Brighton).  My tenant's steam boiler went out at 7pm before the Jan 27, 2015 blizzard, talk about bad luck.

I waited until after the storm to contact a plumber.  I tried Boston Standard, they said they were booked during the storm and had to decline to come out unless it was an emergency.

They charged me $135 for them to diagnose the problem.  I agreed and 2 plumbers came out within a few hours.  I got scared because I was reading Robert C.'s review how they charged him double because of 2 people.  I called Donners Mechanical, the secretary forwarded me the call to a head plumber who was surly and short with me.  I asked him if I was going to be charged for 2 plumbers.  He said I said $135, didn't I?!.

Other than that, the experience was very professional.  The plumbers told me what was going on in real time.  What he was doing, why it's not working right now, etc. . . My only hang up is pricing and contracts.  I didn't sign a contract to agree to have the work done at a specific price.  No receipt for when I paid by check, even though they said they accept credit cards.  The contract to have work done protects both me and the company, since everything was agreed by voice and over the phone.  However, if they're honest and don't sway from their pricing, I will continue to use them.

Sharp Plumbing & Heating Plumbing Service
Their response is quick. However the cost is very overpriced. I asked them to change the water valve. A 15min work charged me over $500. The part only sells $35 online.

Pann Home Services Plumbing Service
A very long positive review to counter all of the negative reviews.

in 2021 we purchased a 2/1 in a 3 story walkup built in 1918. The home inspection showed many plumbing issues that would need to be addressed after we took possession of the home.

When we were ready to deal with the multitude of plumbing issues we called Pann out to take a look at the most pressing issues.

The first thing we had them address were the original plumbing fixtures on the clawfoot tub including the curtain holder. Keep in mind we called them during the height of the pandemic to do this job. They answered the phone which may not sound like much, but we had called 5 other plumbers none of which answered the phone or ever called us back. They sent two techs to install the plumbing fixtures and the rig that holds the shower curtain. They did a fantastic job.

We hired a contractor (not Pann, big mistake) renovate the kitchen. Once the renovation was complete and we moved back into our home we discovered the bathtub was draining very slow.

We called Pann out to see if they could unclog the slow draining tub. They discovered we had a clogged drum trap. Grant called me into the bathroom to show me what debris came out of the drain when they attempted to clear the clog with a pressure method. It looked like sand the same color of the grout in our newly renovated kitchen.

We were told the drum trap would need to be removed and replaced as it was under the floor with no access to a clean out.

What followed was nothing short of amazing on many levels.

First Pann sent a full team of plumbers (Grant and a helper and John the project manager and Dave the lead carpenter) to inspect our attic, the downstairs unit and our unit. They did this to determine the most efficient was to access the drum trap to replace it. It was determined the best way to access it would be to go through the bathroom floor or our unit. This entailed removing every fixture from the bathroom to have full access to the floor.

We received the bid that was an eye popping amount, until we figured out this repair was going to be the equivalent of an entire bathroom gut job.
It was a comprehensive detailed bid because a comprehensive detailed inspection had been done prior to issuing it.

We were not prepared to gut the bathroom yet but at this point we had no choice, so we proceeded.

They figured it would take about 10 days to complete from start to finish including inspections.

I had contact with the project manager John every single day. He answered all of my questions, helped me to make decisions, never sounded rushed or irritated, was professional, kind, funny and considerate of the hardship we were experiencing.

We would have no access to the bathroom including the toilet while this huge job was being completed. How to live without a toilet for 10 days? Get a 5 gallon bucket line it with a trash bag, fill it with kitty litter and put a toilet seat on it to us as a make shift toilet? Hold it and hope Starbucks opens soon enough and that no one is in the bathroom when you get there? NOPE, Pann left the toilet intact, and worked around it which was not easy for them. When they did pull the toilet, it was only out for 1 day while we waited for the inspector to come. Then they put it back until they needed to pull it again to install the new tile flooring.  No other company would have done this to accomodate us.

When they were ready to cut into the floor to access the drum trap they discovered 1 1/2 inches of solid concrete covering the entire bathroom floor. They had to bring in a huge diamond saw to cut through the concrete. Three grown men and a huge diamond saw in a 6x6 bathroom.  Loud, dusty and possibly dangerous work.

Once the old plumbing was removed (yes the drum trap was full of the grout that was used in the kitchen renovation incase anyone reading the this review was wondering if Pann just made up an expensive problem to fix) and the new plumbing was installed they had to mix concrete and drag it up 3 flights of stairs to lay it down over the giant holes in the bathroom floor.

When it was time to install the tile we had ordered on our own, they discovered the tile was defective. At this point I told them to just install it because we have no form of transportation other than public transportation. We had no way to go choose new tile in a timely manner and it was closing in on Christmas week. That's when John sent me a text that said, give me a call to discuss the tile situation.I told him why I was ok with them installing defective tile.  He said no, no, Dave will take the tile back for you and then go to our tile vendor to show you what they have available so you can pick out what you want.  Dave, did all of this ON HIS DAY OFF.

When the job was completed, they cleaned the place up nice and tidy. Not a spec of dust, not a finger print no sign they were even there accept we have a whole new bathroom. Thank you Dave, Grant, John etc!
