Our in-wall drain hole for the washing machine was unused (drained straight into the sink) and clogged. We noticed a leak behind the dry wall & found out the drain hole overflowed from our A/C's condensation (shared drain hole). Lin Construction went above & beyond and unclogged a bunch of material deep within our plumbing system. He is very dedicated & explained everything throughly. If in need of a handyman, I highly recommend Lin Construction! I will definitely give them a call for any type of projects!

The metal wastewater lines in our kitchen sink corroded and developed a leak. This was not an emergency as I sealed the leak with duct tape.
I sent Stan's an email (after their business hours) asking them to come over and take a look at it and the next day Stan himself came over to scope the work. Two days later they came and replaced the metal piping with PVC in about 90 minutes. This guys impressed me with their quick response to my inquiry and timely repair. I recommend that you give these folks a call when you need plumbing repairs.

A+ as far as home maintenance goes. Extremely professional.
Excellent communication.
Trustworthy, friendly, clean.
Emerson didn't rush the job (installation of two ceiling fans) and took the time to make sure the installation was solid and working correctly, before accepting payment. Do not hire him if you want a rush job. That is not what he is about. He is about quality work, not shoddy or rushed. Ekahi Home Improvement is the only one I need for all my home maintenance needs. Next job, water heater flush.

I called up Frank for a difficult screen job that I couldn't complete myself. The screens that I needed repaired were custom sized and I thought that this job was going to cost me a ton of money. Thankfully I called up Frank first! He built my new screens for an affordable rate and completed the job in no time at all. It was really easy to communicate with Frank during all steps of this job and I couldn't be happier with the finished product. I definitely recommend calling Frank up first for your home repair needs. Excellent customer service and all around a very positive experience. My windows have never looked better!

We have an old solar water heater that is huge ( more than 80 gallon tank) that needed to be replaced. However, this heater is located in a very difficult location, down 37 steps of stairs, in a small room below our house. I called four companies for a quote. One didn't even call back as promised, the other wanted to charge $75 just to show up for an estimate and the third company showed up, took a look at the location of the heater and said that he would call me back with the estimate but that never happened. Finally, I called Commercial Plumbing and boy, did we luck out.
These guys are SO professional. Henry came to assess the situation, went back and emailed me a quote promptly. My husband and I decided to go ahead and we were scheduled in a week or so. The 3 man-team showed up and did an incredible job! They didn't waste any time, carried the 250 lb. tank up the stairs, replaced the old tank and did an awesome job! They were very efficient and tidy too. Wow! We were totally impressed and happy with the work done. We would highly recommend these guys to anyone. Super job guys! Thank you.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Tyler for some plumbing work and I couldn't be happier with the results. From start to finish, Tyler was professional, knowledgeable, and efficient.
First and foremost, Tyler was prompt in his communication and scheduling. He was able to fit me in quickly and was always available to answer any questions I had leading up to the appointment.
During the appointment itself, Tyler arrived right on time and quickly assessed the issue at hand. He explained the problem to me in a way that was easy to understand and walked me through my options for repair.
Once we settled on a solution, Tyler got to work right away. He was incredibly skilled and efficient, and he completed the work in a timely manner without sacrificing quality.
Overall, I couldn't be happier with the service Tyler provided. He was professional, efficient, and truly went above and beyond to ensure that my plumbing issue was resolved quickly and effectively. I would highly recommend Tyler to anyone in need of plumbing services in Oahu.

Modesto Mo is the most reliable, knowledgeable and most easiest to work with plumber on island. He knows his stuff when it comes to plumbing, troubleshooting and repair. Clogged pipes, leaky faucets, you name it. Mo can do it! And his rates are more than reasonable. Don't hesitate and call Mo for all your plumbing needs.

We are selling our house and the home inspection revealed that there was no water main shutoff valve. Jason came out within an hour of my call to him, assessed the situation, came back the next morning, and installed the valve. He had to dig up a lot of grass and dirt, but put everything back so it looks just the way it did before, and the new homeowners will now have this excellent safety feature readily available. Totally professional, totally fantastic work!

We had a pipe leak just before New Year's Eve, but couldn't get a plumber. We were able to temporarily patch it, but after the New Year we had a burst on the same pipe in a different area. It feeds water from the main line into the house. We had to shut off all water to the house, so this was an emergency fix. Sent out a request for services/quotation on Yelp. Most plumbers were not available for same day/immediate service. Got a response from Hawaii Drain Pros via Ashley and they had a good rating, so I called right away. I explained the situation and she said she could get a technician out within a few hours. Jaron and (I think Ryan?) came just after lunch. I showed them both problems and Jaron explained what he had to do. He gave me a quote, which initially shocked me, but I needed the work done immediately. He gave me a senior discount, at least, and a one year warranty, which is 6 months longer than Roto-Rooter. He had to change out 2 areas of copper piping, which included digging/clearing out some ground to expose all the pipe. One area had an odd type of piping as my house is 60 yo and has had some repiping done before. That was a problem area as he had a difficult time finding the right type of connection. He also advised to put a pressure regulator because our house is very old and didn't have one. The pressure coming in from the main is very strong and he said that is what causes leaky faucets and toilets and burst pipes. So he had to call the Board of Water Supply to come shut off and turn back on the main line. He repiped our old water shut off system with new copper pipes, a new valve, a regulator and gauges to monitor the pressure from the main and to the house. Jaron was very professional, polite and explained very clearly what my options were and what he was going to do. They even had to work in the rain because it was outside, but they continued and finished everything. I think they're pricing is high, but I feel they do quality work, they warranty for a year, they conduct themselves very professionally and politely. I would recommend them and use them again.

I've hired HNL Plumbing for about $30,000 of water line and drain line work on a house built in the 50s. Sidney is great but the owner or boss is not. Their hourly rate is $120-130/hr which I think is high but then once you get the bill, they probably added a whole lot more hours to the actual work. They added 14 hours more hours, $1,680 to my bill. They will bill you for time they aren't at the job site and for their lunches. I told them how long I saw them at the job site since they left before 3pm everyday and the owner said no. I think they definitely over billed me for their time. Now they won't bid or work for me anymore since I can count their hours too. Shady business practices trying to steal your money.

What I have written here is long but I want the story told with all pertinent info. The paragraph directly below summarizes the problem and where it stands. The rest below is the full account.
*My mother went onto the corporate Facebook page to comment on this very same experience, and Roto-Rooter's action was to delete the comment and block her from accessing their page. This is how Roto-Rooter handles problems.
Roto-Rooter's technician left all of our drains and faucets in disrepair. And this was in the wake of him giving us his private number with an offer to come back and do more work on the cheap for cash. We had to do a few dishes in the shower several times & could not use our bathroom sink without mass leakage. This lasted for days while Roto Rooter figured out how they'd handle this. Their grand gesture in the end of all this was a trifling $60 off toward the repairs and replacement of the faucets and pipes their man had left in the state they were in.
Our home's water heater began to leak last month on the 26th. I phoned my local Roto-Rooter apprising them of what was going on and asked if they would be able to send someone out to replace the unit. About an hour and a half later, the technician in question arrived. He quoted the price and we signed off on it. We had to have the work done then and there, no question.
We did want additional work done on the faucets so my mom enquired what the company would charge for a bathroom faucet replacement. The tech said it would run around $400, but then offered us his private number and said, verbatim, I could come back on off hours and do it for less- For cash. We did not request or imply that we wanted this.
We called a big company because we wanted a guarantee of quality work that we also know will be backed up with service should anything go wrong. Or so we thought.
I headed back to my office a few feet away to work. A half hour later when I came back out I noticed the tech with his head under the bathroom sink, (the bathroom is nextdoor to the water heater cabinet), with the faucet turned on above. I had heard that faucet running in the background outside my office, (also adjacent to the area), for at least 7-10 minutes consistently. I assumed there was a reason.
About an hour and a half later the new water heater was in place. We cut the check and he was on his way.
This is when havok ensued. When I went to the bathroom sink, I noticed what sounded like a small waterfall echoing beneath. I opened the cabinet doors and the area was drenched. I turned the top faucet back on and saw the leak coming from the drain clog from above. The faucet worked COMPLETELY fine before the technician was in there fooling around. I asked my mom if she asked him to work on it. She said, No. She was handling everything after I left and she gave no request or permission to start any kind of repair in that area. She also heard him under our kitchen sink. That faucet would now only run at 10-15% of the flow it had had prior to the tech arriving.
We were at a loss. We asked Roto-Rooter to replace the water heater and we got two malfunctioning faucets and a 'technician' who offered to come back later and work on the cheap. What were we to think? We can no longer use the bathroom sink and were barely able to get anything out of the kitchen sink. Was this technician setting himself up for extra side work? We sure know he fooled around with both sets of pipes.
It would be some time before we would hear back from them. The local office said, (also verbatim), We'll look into it and when asked when we might expect to hear something back they continued, Only if we find something. This left little in the way of confidence toward the situation being resolved in a timely manner. We rightfully wanted our malfunctioning pipes and faucets returned back to the functionality they had before Roto-Rooter's man did whatever he had done.
They sent an assessment technician a couple days. He managed to partially fix what had been done, but stated that we would likely get a discount in light of what we had shared and they could replace the faucets and whatever other work would be needed in the sinks. A little later, after all was said and done, he said an even greater discount for the hardship would probably be on the table due to all the facts.
Sixty dollars off for the replacements of our faucets is where it stands. *This is the standard coupon they are offering on their website.
I no longer want this company of charlatans near my home. Their man did shoddy work, tried to rip off his own company off, inconvenienced this household, leaving stress & grief in his wake.
And the corporate FB page deleted our grievance.
So for that, I will post this review here, tell other folks, friends, and family, and whoever else who happens to mention needing a plumber.
It's a small island and word travels.
