Established in 2011.
The name Godby has been synonymous with service for decades in the Indianapolis Metro Area. Godby has always been known for heating and cooling and has expanded into plumbing and electrical services, as they all go hand in hand. In 2011 Jason Godby and some partners bought the business, knowing that they could continue to offer the same exceptional service to Godby's customers as well as a positive work environment for Godby team members. This kind of mentality has been a staple within the Godby family for over 40 years. Godby Heating Plumbing Electrical (GHPE)- three trades, one team... "It's Gotta be Godby."

I had a bird stuck in my furnace flue.  Not only did i get great service on the phone perfect service from the technician.  Poor bird was set free.

This is a great company.  Always responsive and they know what they are doing.  I'm so pleased.  I've used different companies over the years  but since i switched to Godby,  I've been 100% satisfied with heating, cooling and plumbing service!

I needed a half turn master shut off valve for the water installed. I called and asked for a ballpark figure and the price was so good I told them let's do business. They came out the next morning and installed it and thank God they did, because I had a leak in the upstairs toilet where I needed to turn the water off that night. I definitely will use them again.

I've never had a better experience than with John, Will, and the whole crew!!  They stayed late to finish a two day job on a Friday. So cool. We are the kings of hot water. Or better yet, the ladies in the house say we are the queens of hot water. Get the tankless and recirculating pump. You won't regret it.

Good job replacing a faucet.  4 stars because price seemed high to me for a straight forward job, but that might be standard rates.  Quick service and good communications.

Very disappointed. I called Godby to find an electrical problem because a neighbor recommended them. We'd had a leak and the plumber (who did a great job) said the cause was an electrical current arcing on the pipes from malfunctioning fixtures. Godby's electrician spent something like four hours examining our electrical service and assured me there was no problem.

A month later, another leak. Plumber (same company but different individual) confirmed the problem was electricity on the pipes. Called Barth Electric; they sent an electrician who found the problem promptly and fixed it. Needless to say, I would NEVER use Godby again. Not only did we throw out the money we paid them, but the subsequent leak that could have been avoided cost nearly 400 to fix--and that's before repairing the hole in the drywall.

We had just purchased a new home that required a lot of updates before our move in date.  The home was in disrepair, including the furnace and A/C unit.  I called Godby to come out and determine whether or not it could be repaired or if we needed a whole new system.  

The representative that they sent out was very knowledgeable and explained to us the issues with the existing system.  They got us a number quickly and were able to get our furnace, coil and A/C unit replaced under budget.

The technicians that installed our new system were great.  They were clean cut, nicely dressed and did a great job.  We were extremely happy with the service provided and will definitely use Godby again.

We have been a customer of Godby for probably over 10 years. We are on their Club Godby. I'll say they have very good service however,  I called to have them look at a couple of things. There is a $99 service call which is fine. We needed a frost free outside spigot repaired and Gary the technician (who has been here before and is a nice guy) gave me the estimate to replace one outside faucet (spigot) and I was shocked. I expected it to be over $200.? but it was over $400. Labor is over $200 per hour. I told Gary to forget it and paid the $99 call fee. We will be looking for another HVAC and plumbing company. BTW, the 3 stars were for their service. If I had to give a star rating on pricing, it would be a one.

We bought a new home and had some minor plumbing issues to get looked at. Unfortunately for us this plumbing service was what Angie's List recommended.

Was charged 300 dollars for a tightening on the toilet and an incorrectly hooked up fridge. He was here about 1.5 hours, charged for 2, and half of the time was spent wandering back and forth from his car and fixing a mistake he made in hooking up the fridge to the water line. On top of this was extremely unfriendly and lazy- told us to call the manufacturer for a leaky faucet and for a leaky dishwasher. Told us it would cost us another 600 to cut a hole in the floor and run a pipe into a small room to move the washer up from the basement. "Generously" took off 15 dollars for making a mistake that he tried to convince us didn't matter and was extremely rude about correcting.

Cannot recommend less. Extremely Unsatisfied.

Thank you Godby for coming out in an emergency call. I had no air conditioning and my 90 year old mother coming to my house. Adam fixed the problem in a very professional manner. We were in a bit of a pinch once the weather started turning colder. Went to fire up the old furnace and nothing. Of course this was discovered after hours and we struggled to get anyone who could come out in a timely matter.After working our way down the list we were able to get appointment with Godby for first thing the next morning. The technician called to confirm he was on the way and was very professional we he arrived.

Our technician was also very knowledgeable and good about explaining things in a way that was understandable and had us back up and running in no time.

The only reason I will not give Godby five stars, I'll explain later. Air conditioner went out in my home. Godby has serviced my home before, so I gave them a call. A technician came out, and told me it was the furnace. It was the original furnace that came with the house, so I figured it was time to replace it. The person I spoke with to set up the appointment was very kind and got my appointment set up for the next day. She also gave me a window as to how long the job would take.  The next day came and I received a call from Deacon telling me that they are on the way. Soon after,  Deacon and Joe was at my door. They introduced themselves, and came in. Right away they got started on removing the old one and in with the new one. During that time, Joe came upstairs and put in the new thermostat. He told me that when they were finished, he'd explain the new functions on it (digital, touch screen, Bluetooth, very cool!). Not long after, they called me downstairs and the job was done. Joe came with me back upstairs and explained in detail the use of the new thermostat. During the time in my home, both guys were very professional, courtious and easy to get along with. Great job guys. As they were leaving, I asked for a business card. They said they didn't have cards of their own. Godby, get your technicians business cards!
Now, the only reason for the 4 stars was because I had to have a very minor adjustment made. Without calling, the guy just showed up! I could see that he was from Godby by his vehicle and shirt, but didn't tell me who He was. He got the job done quickly and was nice, but gave no heads up that he was on his way.

Complete bums. Had a service call for no heat. Was 5 hours late. Quoted a new system for $10,000. Another company came out and did a $257 repair and it's good as new. Crooks!

Called Godby on Friday at the recommendation of a friend to get my AC fixed. Was told that someone would be out Friday afternoon, Monday at the latest. They never came and I never heard from them again. After reading the other reviews, I think I lucked out.

I had an absolutely horrible experience with Godby. My experience was so bad that I believe the company is either completely mismanaged or is willfully ripping off customers. Savvy consumers should BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!

On August 3rd, 2013 I contacted Godby Heating, Plumbing, Electrical to repair my AC because it was blowing warm air. The technician arrived and quickly told me that I needed to replace the thermostat. That didn't solve the problem, so Godby sent the tech back to our house. The technician arrived and after some time outside claimed to have fixed it. He presented us with the information about the repair and a bill for $500 AFTER he performed the work. He explained that it needed more coolant and so he refilled 3 lbs of coolant. I specifically asked if there was a leak since 3 lbs is a huge amount. He said it was now working fine and we should be good. I was skeptical, but the unit was indeed blowing cold air so I paid the bill. A day later, AC was again blowing warm air. I called and spoke to the manager Kevin. He admitted that there must be a leak and the technician should have performed a full leak check before installing coolant. Godby sent another technician who easily confirmed the coil leak. This repairman stated that the first technician should have performed a full leak test before filling any coolant and apologized for the mistake. The manager, later called to tell me they will install a new coil for an additional $1,852 that will solve the problem. This new cost includes a leak repair and refilling with 3 more lbs of coolant. I complained that Godby should apply the wasted original coolant cost (~$500) to this new total. Godby should have performed a leak test before refilling with coolant and even then should have presented me with options before actually performing the work. As I pressed for a reasonable deal given my previously incurred and wasted coolant expense, Kevin became rude and unreasonable in his interactions with me. I declined further work with Godby and called a competitor that quoted and performed the new work at a regular cost of $1,290.  (This, of course, includes the coil leak repair plus the cost to refill coolant again.)

To make matters worse, Godby re-billed me for the unnecessary work performed on August 4th even thought I paid this total in August and have the receipt and bank withdrawal proof.

Every company makes mistakes, but how these mistakes are handled is what defines a company. Godby does not care about their customers. Godby represents POOR QUALITY, POOR SERVICE, HIGH COSTS, and DOUBLE BILLING.

Save yourself money and a headache -- AVOID GODBY!!

GODBY HPE has always been there when we needed them- whether it's plumbing, electrical or heating/air related I know I can count on them to give me a fair price and diagnosis of the problem and that they will work to fix the problem quickly! I also appreciate their semi-annual HVAC check which assists in keeping our systems in top working order! I refer them to friends, clients, and colleagues- knowing they will be treated right!

Jason, the owner contacted me a few days ago to correct the issue. We agreed on a deal that we both felt was fair, and he asked me to give his company another chance, which I will. I have used Godby many times over the years and will hopefully continue to do so in the future.

Don't fall for the hype of them being an Indy local name!  Do your research and find a small local plumber on Nextdoor site or through neighbors or friends.  This company lied to our faces as they sent an inexperienced "plumber" to our home who had to take pics to get answers then took our $50 trip charge check and said he'd be back only to find out they weren't coming back until the following week!! We were without water and they knew this and then said WE WERE at fault when they knew the problem ahead of time!  They lied on the phone and said we didn't tell them it was a  different situation...we explained it exactly and even if it was a diff situation ( which it wasn't)..they should've had the knowledge to do it!!!  The plumber that arrived stated "i have three other appts still and its 5pm... i can't do this one right now".  They knew it was not a basic replacement but this plumber didn't know how to do it and we had waited all day on him and then we got blamed!!! We had to fight to get our check back and thankfully we found an honest plumber through Economy Plumbing recommendation!  Steer clear of Godby!!!

My service experience was quite bad, and a long series of errors were made.  Originally i posted a very detailed and negative review.  Since then I have been contacted by Jason Godby, and was treated very well.  I was assured that my experience was the exception, not the norm, and I believed him.  I have decided to replace my previous extremely negative review, not because I was asked to, but because after my conversation with Jason I felt that they no longer deserved it.  I will use them again and hope that my previous experience was a fluke.
