HISTORY

Established in 2010.
I started my Plumbing Business part time in the begining. I worked a 40 hr job from 5am-1:30pm. From 2pm till when ever worked my Plumbing Business. I slowly saved money to buy equipment. Worked out of a pick up truck, rode my moped around to pass out flyers and business cards couldnt afford the gas to drive around in my pick up truck. Five months after I started my business I quit my fulltime job in the morning and went fulltime with my business. I believe in what you put into something is what you will get out of it. Today I have a newer van and a good handful of great customers. I love what I do.

I have been in the trade since 2002 .I graduated the apprenticeship in 2008 as a licenced journeyman  pipefitter,plumber. In 2012 my family and myself relocated back to the island so our children could experience growing up here .

My husband and I were very apprehensive about using Yelp again to find a plumber especially since we were very disappointed and upset about the unprofessionalism displayed by the first plumber.  And he had rave reviews on Yelp ... makes you wonder ... hmmmm???  Anyways, that was then and now is now and this time we got ourselves a REAL PLUMBER.  Matt actually gives estimates over the phone, he is prompt, highly professional and gives a detailed receipt (asked twice but never got a receipt from the first plumber; no receipt book, computer broken).  Matt is very reasonable.  We've all heard the saying that you get what you pay for.  Well, you can throw that out the window when it comes to Matt because in his case cheap gets you the same quality service that the $$$ companies would charge.  Matt has restored our faith in Yelp.  When that white Chevy van pulls in your driveway, you know the MAN has arrived.  We called him to unclog our kitchen sink.  He had to resort to his big guns (sorry I'm a woman so don't know what the equipment is called) to unclog the stubborn, unrelentless drain but we were all finally relieved to hear that whooshing clear drain sound.  We were so pleased that we asked him back in the same week to replace the water shutoff valves for our houses which were frozen and corroding (never realized how important these valves are in case of an emergency).  We most definitely plan to use him again for our future plumbing needs.  MAHALOS MATT!!!

This person is IS UNRELIABLE.   Called for FOUR days and no response.   When we finally reached him even though it was an emergency,  would NOT make time to help clear a sewer blockage.   Do NOT use.

If it were possible I would give NO stars.

I really can't give a fair review on this company, because I never got to use their services, but they did return my phone call, and the person I spoke to was pleasant, the problem was they told me they don't accept credit cards all though on their Yelp page it states they do, then after we discussed my plumbing issues he said he couldn't get out to see me for over a week, but he did give me a recommendation along w/phone number, which I appreciated, so for that I feel his company gets a 3 star, sorry I couldn't be of more help, but that was my brief experience w/Low Cost Drain Plumbing

Called on a Saturday afternoon, and he was able to squeeze me in that day. Asked him to change water stop valves in my apartment and he was able to get it done quickly, efficiently and at a great price! I would highly recommend this company!

John is so honest. He was supposed to borescope inspect the house we were trying to buy in Pearl City.  He came by promptly. Then he called us back and said no need to inspect since he knows this house and it has already been inspected. He didn't charge me  for the commute and time spent on the site. We bought the house and plumbing working fine. So honest.  Definitely call him again!

Beware of Low Cost Drain Plumbing. 3522 Hinahina Street 808-753-0651

So the owner in unit 305 calls for plumber. She  randomly just looked for one and took the first one who could come to unclog her drain The guy John just moved back from Las Vegas. Unfortunately he had absolutely no Aloha. He pushed her third floor clog down to the second floor and the unit below her started to overflow rather than pushing the clog all the way out. He then wanted to charge the second floor unit to move the clog down to the first floor. He probably wanted to then charge the first-floor unit to move the clock down to the main drain.

I've been a building manager for 35 years and I manage three different buildings and this is the first time I've ever seen this. If we were in a 40 story building he'd want to make 40 house calls and write 40 invoices.

He did do his job. He serviced the 3rd floor tenant and pushed the cloginto the central pipe. That is after all his entire legal contract. So I'm not going to fault the guy in any way whatsoever. But this is just so that anybody who hires this guy knows there is no Aloha in him at all.

There may be a million people in Hawaii but it is a small community so I wish him luck; but I have to tell this story so the rest of my Island Ohana can live in peace and not receive the Las Vegas hostage plumber.

I'd like to give a shout out to Alakai Plumbing who has always done a job to the very end without shafting the building or the other tenants.

Matt came to my apartment and replaced my kitchen faucet, he did a great job and was swift. The bill was kind high I mean I know plumbers can make upwards of $100 an hour but he was only in my kitchen for 20 minutes and he billed me $280 even though I supplied the parts..

About a month goes by and I get water leaking under my kitchen sink. I called Matt and leave a voice mail. Im kind of screwed because I cant use my sink while it leaks.

I call later that evening and still get voice mail. I call the next morning and instead of ringing a few times it goes directly to voice mail. I start to get worried that he is avoiding me so I try calling from my work phone and he picks up. I explain to him very kindly that my faucet is still leaking and he needs to look at it. He gets very defensive and says it was working when he installed it so now if its leaking again then It was my fault and I must have done something to break it.

We argue for a few seconds and I am pissed at this point because of the tone he is speaking at me. I decide to save my breath and call another plumber.

The new plumber comes out and puts an o-ring into the handle and says that there was not a ring in there and thats why it was leaking. He charged me $45 for the simple fix and said their company would have installed the sink for $125 flat rate.

I used Matt based on yelp reviews but I had a terrible experience with him.

OMG life savers. Accidentally got some fish gravel down my garbage disposal and called Roto Rooter. They were going to charge me three times the price of what I ended up paying (under $200.) these guys called me right back before I even finished leaving a message on their voicemail. These guys came faster than they estimated (!!!) and were in and out within ten minutes. So amazing. Highly recommended. The punk rock-looking guy helped me out. So friendly and honest too. I thought we needed some snaking for  our plumbing problems...I called this company with a bunch of questions and this guy John was totally patient and very knowledgeable. Ended up we did not need snaking and John saved us alot of $$. John was very helpful and knowledgeable about plumbimg and knew exactly what was the problems at our rental property and our home. I would highly recommend this company for all your plumbing needs! Knowledgeable, honest, fast service and the price is right!! I did do several price quotes and this company was the lowest! Called John on a Sat afternoon after a copper pipe below the house started leaking. He managed to fit me in his schedule and had it fixed super quickly. He even improved the valve and made it easier to use. Very fair price and a very nice guy. Hes honest and professional, I highly recommend him.

My bf and I had a leaking toilet and the original plumber we called cancelled last minute leaving us with no toilet. I called a couple of other plumbers and was quoted high or told no one could come out the same day. I finally called Low Cost Drain Plumbing and John came immediately to look at our toilet. He was very professional and super nice. He fixed our toilet in less then an hour and even gave us recommendations to avoid future problems. He also had the best rate out of all the companies I called. I would definitely recommend calling John if you want someone who is honest and will get the job done fast.

This guy is The Best. I appreciate honest and sincere people. This guy is the real deal. He came at 10 pm for an emergency water shut-off and plumbing fix. His prices are totally reasonable and he explains everything to you too. I seriously will never go back to any other plumber.

Matt and his helper were top notch.  I never write on yelp but since I found them that way, I figured I'd give them credit.  Ended up calling him since Daimond Head Plumbing lost my appointment.  So after waiting for 3 hours and then finding out that the night shift did not make the appointment, I called Matt.  He had an opening and was there in 15 minutes.  Fixed my faucet which ended up to be a minor problem.   So he didn't charge me a service call...so I just tipped him.  He also found a couple other leaks that others could not figure out.  So we'll get some parts and bring him back.  Bonus was that I had a metal bar that I needed cut but didn't have the tools.  His friend saw it and said he'd just do it...so cut the bar, pounded it down with a hammer and done.  Good guys and would easily recommend them to others.  Bonus to all this is that I now have someone I can count on for plumbing!!!  Mahalos to them.

kept on having a recurring problem w/ the waste line for my kitchen sink clogging up...snaking it was just a short term fix...so i looked up matt on yelp to see about hydrojetting the line for a longer term fix...he was very prompt, courteous, and flexible...even took my credit card w/ his droid phone...boy am i a believer now of hydrojetting and matt was great...

Toilet leaked and called John to come take a look. Wax ring gone, new flange required . . . and boy, were they quick and efficient in getting it fixed. It wasn't a full on emergency, but they did come by to fix the toilet by the end of the day.

Highly recommended!

I found Low Cost Drain Plumbing on Yelp and I am so glad I did. Matt was super nice and efficient. I needed my kitchen sink faucet and valve replaced. I called him and he was in the my area. He came by in less than 15 minutes to give me a free estimate. He came back later in the week. He was here for a little more than one hour and he brought the valve with him.  He cleaned the sink when he finished and his quoted cost was right on. Great plumber, nice guy. He loves his job.

Matt with Low Cost Drain Plumbing has got to be the best plumber on the island. He has saved us several times during an almost 2-month long plumbing saga. When we first moved into our house, the sewage backed up into a couple of showers, a disgusting problem especially being pregnant with two young kids. Matt was the first to answer back the frantic messages I left with several plumbers, and he was definitely an answer to prayer! He not only cleared up the problem, but thoroughly explained the plumbing system in our house (which was not constructed ideally, thus, the mess), what he was doing, and what the next step would be, if the problem were to recur. He explained things to me so that I could understand our own plumbing and trouble-shoot problems for myself, never dumbing things down because I was a woman.
   Well, the sewage backup problem recurred within a week before I had time for him to come back to do a preventative cean out of our pipes. I called Matt on a weekend, and he did everything to help us out ASAP. He fixed the problem definitively and told us how to prevent it in the future. He also did detective work to try to find the source of a mysterious leak coming from a bathtub that was going to the outside of the house. His smart, logical way of going about things pinpointed the problem, which ended up being fairly simple, and saved a ton of money. We had absolutely no further problems with our plumbing, thanks to Matt, who charged us very reasonably each time, until . . .
    A handyman who had done work on our house's pipes in the past suggested that we might have a pipe breakage and insisted on his plumber friend to come and do a diagnostic look with his camera, which he said very few plumbers have. This plumber, who did not look like what he was doing and explained very little to me, then announced we had a pipe breakage, requiring a major, extremely expensive repair. Needless to say, I didn't trust him, so I called Matt, who was also doubtful, as he had tested the integrity of our pipes. He came, looked with his camera in a very thorough and systematic fashion, and found no pipe breakage, much to our relief! He did recommend a preventative treatment for our house in the future, which was reasonable, considering how old the house was and illl-maintained the pipes were. He has also done many little jobs for us, including fixing a botched bathtub drain repair and fixing leaky faucets. He always is pretty prompt and follows up to see if things are still functioning well, especially on his major repairs.
  In summary, Matt is a smart, professional, and honest plumber with a conscience, whom I would highly recommend without hesitation to anyone needing a skilled, trustworthy, and dependable plumber. He will be the only one we will ever call upon in the future for any plumbing needs.

Matt installed a brand new shower faucet and valve, after the old one was leaking all over. He did it quickly, and at the estimate he provided me, which was much lower than the other guys. Quality, excellent work. Would definitely use his services again.

There are not many times you can say you actually had a good experience working with a plumber.   No really.  

But I must say that Matt did a great job.   He knew exactly what was wrong...and fixed it in a flash.   No mess, no worries.    My toilet is running like a charm...I'm no longer wasting gallons of water...And I still have money left in my pocket for lunch :)

Matt came to the rescue three times! He came the same day to fix my kitchen sink in my rental. Good thing he did because I had new renters checking in that day. I had another issue the same day at home and he kindly drove from my rental to fix my laundry sink.

He made great recommendations to prevent further issues at our rental. So we called-up again and had him make those improvements. Now both our places are good to go thanks to Matt.

He's very affordable and fair!

I made a call to Chris on Thursday to make an appointment for sink issues (30June2017). but on Friday I got a phone call, saying he can't make it due to his personal/family matter. at that time I understood his situation, but we did reschedule our appointment and never showed up and couldn't  get any phone call from him
Just wondering why Chris never showed up for our appointment (03July2017). I even left txts and multiple phone calls.

honestly, he could have done better with follow up and customer service.

Matt is a prince. He answers his phone. Gives emergency help over the phone. And, he's a great guy.  He and his assistant came by on MY schedule and fixed a leaking bathtub, leaking toilet and installed a new garbage disposal unit.  The price was better than reasonable, it was damn cheap. So cheap I felt compelled to tip them for the fast and friendly service. Compared to many other area plumbers I've used over the years, this was the best experience ever. I will call Matt next time I have a problem without hesitation.

I decided to call Matt after reading the positive Yelp reviews.  Matt worked with my schedule and made it to my place that evening.  What was supposed to be a quick and easy job turned out to be a bit more involved than I had originally estimated.  Matt did a great job explaining to me what needed to be done and his plan of attack.  

Matt worked hard, worked clean and was a great professional throughout the job.  He recommended a new faucet and sent me to the store with a perfect description of what I needed and even gave me a ballpark price to pay for it.

Previous to calling Matt, I called another plumber with great reviews on Yelp and I did not even receive a call back.  They will be rated accordingly.  I will enthusiastically recommend Matt to anyone who asks or mentions going to another plumber.

Matt you saved my life!!
It was a Sunday morning and I was in trouble. The toilets and the showers were stopped up. I called three plumbers and Matt was the only who called me back. He was very pleasant on the phone and diagnosed my problem pretty quickly. He quoted me a price and it was by the job, not by the hour. I liked this because there was no potential for hidden fees.
He told me he could be out in about an hour, sure enough he was there in an hour. He showed and took off his shoes and got to work.

John came to replace our water heater.  He came on the day we called and he was great! He replaced it quickly and efficiently.  Other companies weren't able to come on the day we called so we were very happy John was able to accommodate us as our water heater had a hole in it and was leaking in our apartment. He was even kind enough to tell us how to make our new water heater last longer and also even how to fix something with our toilet. We are so happy we called him and he did a great job with everything. I highly recommend this company to anyone, you won't be disappointed! Thank you John!!

Leaking main water valve replaced same day as initial call.  Called Matt in the morning and he said he could fit me in after his morning job.  Because of logistical restraints, did quote over the phone using pictures sent by text.  Made great recommendation to replace pressure reducer valve at same time since the digging would already be done.  Priced as a package deal to help save me some money.  Easy transaction with quick turn.  Will continue to use Matt at Low Cost Drain Plumbing again!

Why isn't this listed as the best of Yelp for Plumbing on O'ahu? Holy smokes, someone that is quick to respond, bids a great price, does professional, efficient work and shows up early to set up tools!!! I had some 1980's valves that could only completely turn off with a super-human hard turn right. John Marryman worked with my HOA to work during a tight water-shut off window hours. He had demo, solder two cooper lines, cut drywall (which he cut at an angle making it easier to replace) and replace the valve box in less than 2 hours. God Bless this guy.

I don't think you can find a better plumber than John. He solved an issue that we've been having for over 2 years, and even caught some that went unnoticed. I appreciate how he's able to explain his thought process as he goes through solving your issue(s). There are no tricks, no gimmicks, and no BS. He's invested into solving the issue just as much as you are, and is willing to put in the time and effort. We'll definitely be calling him for our plumbing needs.

The reviews are right!
We had something gross from somewhere in our kitchen back up into our guest bath tub.  We called Low Cost Drain Plumbing on a Saturday.  John called us back IN 10 MINUTES.  He had a few jobs in our area on Sunday, so came over at the end of his long day on Sunday, quickly assessed the problem and fixed it in about half an hour!  He also took the time to look under our house at all our pipes and assured me that they were in good shape and no further work was required.  The price was VERY reasonable!  
John is fast, polite, and professional.  I will recommend him to everyone and I highly recommend him to YOU.

I had never called them before, but OMG I got my garbage disposal fixed FOR FREE, WITHIN 3 MINUTES OF CALLING! After Yamaz Plumbing NO SHOWED, John from Low Cost Drain Plumbing came to the rescue!   He gave a fair quote, worked with my schedule, and was able to complete the work in the time quoted and at the price. He even came on a Saturday for no extra charge.  Very professional, and informative.  Highly recommended!

So i called Matt because of the awesome reviews everyone had posted about him and they were RIGHT! I called on a friday evening and luckily he had time to squeeze me into his schedule! Well, I had a backed up shower drain which I thought my other half had caused, so he started to do his thing. He kept flushing the drain and finally it started goin down but very slowly. So he takes a snake and starts trying to clear the blockage. Well after a few tries he got hooked onto something! He kept telling me it could possibly take hours and that it might not even solve the problem! Well, as hes tellin me this, he pulls out of the draib, a NAIL CLIPPER!!! This guy is awesome and I would definately call and RECOMMEND him! You might think its a little steep for him to come by and work on the tub for about 130 but hey, he came by on a friday evening and within 20mins of my call! Cant beat that! Thanks Matt!

Yesterday (1/2/17), the observed holiday for the New Years, our place had a leak.  We called 4 or 5 other plumbers, no answers so we finally called Low Cost Drain Plumbing (LCDP).  John was the only one who quickly called us back late in the afternoon.  He said he was working another job in Kapolei but that he would come sometime around 5-6pm.  Which was fine with me if it meant I could bathe and use the bathroom that night.  He arrived a little after 5 as discussed and he quickly found the leak.  After confirming with me that he was allowed to proceed to fix the leak, he was done in less than an hour.  He explained everything to us in detail and was very straight forward.  He even looked around and gave us some free tips on what we can do with our other fixtures.  I would definitely call John and LCDP again!  thank you John for working yesterday and saving our new year from being a wet leaking mess!

Heard about Matt on yelp and was not disappointed.  Super nice guy and handled the job quickly.  Had a shower backing up and I was not able to get it cleared on my own with my snake.  He came in, we troubleshot the issue, and Matt got it cleared no problem.  If you have issues, call him!

I read about Low Cost Drain Plumbing on Yelp and decided to call.  Matt, the owner, answered the phone and did the work himself.

After understanding what needed to be done, Matt and I agreed on a flat fee plus the cost of materials.  Plumbing work does not come cheap, but with Low Cost Drain Plumbing, I got a fair price without the time pressure that homeowners typically deal with (i.e., plumbers who charge by the hour).  Matt removed a yard hose that was stuck on a spigot, changed out a bathroom faucet, replaced a toilet fill valve and flapper, and replaced a laundry basin with a cabinet sink.  He also sourced the new bathroom faucet for me.  I considered replacing the kitchen faucet as well but declined because the cost of the fixture was beyond my budget.  The work was scheduled over a couple of afternoons.
 
After using the new laundry sink, I noticed a small leak under the sink/in the cabinet.  Matt came back to fix it the next day even though the issue had to do with an unexpected quirk with the new sink.  We offered to pay him for his time and additional parts, but he declined saying that his work is guaranteed.  

Later that evening, he even checked that everything was ok with the sink. My husband and I were impressed that Matt cared about getting the job done right.  I have plans to change out other plumbing fixtures in my home and will call him when I do.  He is friendly, knowledgeable, reliable, efficient, and conscientious. Highly recommended!

John was kind enough to stop by and get me out of a jam. I was replacing old washing machine hoses and older valves. The valves were about 40 years old and one of them snapped off when I was unscrewing it. He stopped by between jobs and extracted the threads with a tool I had not seen before. He has done work for me before, so he did not charge me.
Kind of like a breath of fresh air.

After installing a new kitchen faucet at my auntie's house the pre-existing intake valve on the hot side continued to leak a drop at a time.  It would have been a piece of cake to replace except that the shut off valves for the house were frozen tight and trying to break them free would probably result in a much bigger leak.  I called Matt and he was very courteous and helpful walking through all the possible solutions.  He was at the house in an hour with his assistant who happens to be his wife, and after surveying the lay of the land we determined the short term fix would be to just address the leak at the sink(long term fix would be to dig out the existing frozen pressure regulators and surrounding pipes and install new regulators and add new shut off valves).  After making an attempt at the existing intake valve it was obvious that it could not be fixed.  Luckily with the leak on the hot side Matt said we could cut the water at the water heater(wish I had thought of that but a great learning lesson) and make the repair.  Ten minutes later a new intake valve was installed and problem solved.  Matt is very knowledgable about his craft and the fact that he presented multiple solutions was commendable.  More than any of that you can tell that he cares and enjoys what he is does.  We'll tackle the big job on my next trip out.

This is the story of two horrible plumbers, and one all-star!  My parents were having weird plumbing issues at their house.  Without checking with me, they called Roto Rooter to get someone to look at the problem and provide a quote.  Guy comes up and says a pipe in the front yard is smashed and needs to be replaced.  Plus he quotes $4,200!!!!  My mom calls me after and tells me the price and even though I am not a plumber, I know that is outrageous.  So she asks me what to do, and I immediately went on yelp to look for plumbers with high reviews.  I immediately found Matt and Lost Cost Drain Plumbing (LCDP).  Matt came out and quotes my mom $1,400.  Sold!  Seriously though, how is there such a huge price disparity.  In any event, at the same time that my parents are going through their drama, I find a leaky pipe in my garage, that was leaking long enough to create a hole in the dry wall.  Since I knew Matt would be busy with my parents house, I tried to find another highly rated plumber on Yelp.  Located T&C Plumbing and they came out to give me a quote.  Nothing more to say, except 2 weeks later, and I'm still waiting for my quote.

Getting back to Matt, on the first day he was there, he fixed the pipe, but then noticed that there was a second pipe that was leaking and needed to be replaced.  He quoted my parents another $600, bringing the total to $2,000.  I asked my mom to see if he could come to my house to give me a quote.  So at the end of the day, he came over with my parents.  Talk about class act, he tells my parents that he will fix my leak for free since he felt bad about increasing the price for the second pipe.  (I should note that T&C previously told my fiancé that the repairs would probably cost at least $400).  Matt fixed my parents pipes perfectly then came over and fixed my pipe, including replacing the water heater hose with a new copper hose.  

Matt is a class act, a true professional, does a great job, and most of all, doesn't try to rip you off!!!  He is hands down the only professional of 4 or 5 plumbers that have come to our house.  There is a reason he has a large amount of reviews and one of the highest ratings on Yelp!

I've been trying to get service from low cost plumbing for a while. My plumbing issue wasn't really an emergency and since there's so many good reviews I thought I was try this service out. I've tried calling multiple times on different days and have only gotten a voice mail. The one morning I did leave a message, I was expecting to get a call back sometime later in the day to at least be able to schedule something for later in the week. Since I did not get a call back the next day, I decided to use another plumbing service.

The owner John and his crew came in on time and did a bypass for our old galvanized water line.   They did an excellent job.    They were fast, efficient and reliable.   The price was affordable and reasonable and I highly recommend Low Cost Drain Plumbing.   We will definitely use your services again in the future.

Matt showed up early and i wasnt at the property yet. I needed help with clearing tree roots from a downstairs shower drain. There was standing water which was all slimy from being there for weeks. His helper had to haul buckets of water upstairs to dump outside. His estimate had to change once he saw the mess, but it was reasonable. His fee just to come out was extremely reasonable as well! He has great communication and is very friendly. His helper was very respectful and wouldn't accept me tipping him! Overall a great experience. Would highly recommend.

There was some lag time between initial contact and scheduling due to high demand, which seems to be the case with several companies I contacted. Happy with the overall cost compared to quotes from one other company (savings of $400 for 4 different repairs). Another plus was John gave on the phone quote after texting him photos of needed repair (which meant not being charged a home visit fee of $85, unlike another company). John was efficient on the job, even stepped out to purchase needed faucet parts. Had to call John back for a leak in the area of repair and another part that wasn't fixed due to miscommunication. John explained that the leak was from factory faucet, fitting that holds the stems in place weren't screwed in and tightened. We appreciate that there was no labor charge and just parts for the 2nd visit.

My toilet bowl was stuck over night. I wasn't sure what happened, if it was some hair that I had flushed out that night or something else. My housemates and I used a plunger to try unclogging the toilet but it seemed to just get worse.

So then we looked on Yelp and found Matt. He was so helpful, he actually gave step by step advice over the phone, about what to do, and what equipment to buy from Home Depot! Every bit of advice worked well and now our toilet works perfectly, no more overflows or clogs!!!!!

Found this plumbing company on Yelp (of course) and they definitely did not disappoint! I was not there for the actual service, my husband was. I had quotes on several different plumbing companies, and no others could beat the price.

I felt like they were truly genuine and gave good advice and didn't make more suggestions to make more money.

From what my husband told me. They did a great job and were very knowledgeable. They also changed the water heater out in a timely fashion.

My neighbors all know about this company now and will be calling them for any plumbing needs. Will definitely use this service again in the future!

I needed a plumber to fix my leaking kitchen faucet.  I called another plumber first, but he didn't get back to me in time, so after a few hours I decided to call Matt based on the Yelp reviews.  I call him and explain the problem.  He says I need a new kitchen faucet and tells me where I can buy one and recommends a certain brand.  Since I know nothing about faucets I ask him how do I know which type to get.  He asks me to send him a picture on the phone, which I do, and he tells me exactly what I need.  The next day I call him for advise about getting a bit fancier faucet for the sink, but he says it won't fit well, so I get the same kind I had.  All this over the phone, without actually looking at the problem in person, so nice to be able to figure out the problem and solution just over the phone.

He came and installed the faucet, it was really fast.   He didn't mind my two very social cats when they were bugging him.  He was really nice and when I showed him some minor plumbing problems we had in the bathroom, he told me that it was easy and I or my husband could do it ourselves, even explained how to fix it, but also quoted a price if he was to do it.  

I would definitely call him again.  He answers his phone right away and solves the problem even over the phone.  He worked fast and was personable.  I highly recommend him.

Had a small plumbing job associated with a bathroom renovation involving the conversion of older dual hot/cold valves to single hot/cold valve.  I called around to obtain some quotes and after speaking with several companies I was shocked at quotes I received.  I looked around a little more and fortunately I found Matt via Yelp.  I left a msg for him and he promptly called me back, gave me a very reasonable estimate, and then even offered to stop by prior to the job and look over some of the work I was doing on my own.  When he showed up for the actual job he was kind, very professional and did a super job for an excellent price.  In addition to the work we discussed he also offered to check the water pressure for the water line in the house (after I described a problem we were having with the shower pressure) and he discovered a problem with the pressure reducer.  We'll be inviting Matt back again soon to take care of that work as well.  In addition to all the great work he did on site, he also offered some great advice for the portion of the plumbing work I decided to do myself.  He's an extremely caring and knowledgeable plumber and I won't hesitate to call him again and tell all my friends.  Thanks Matt!!!!!

When I called John he was able to be within the area in a day at least to assess what our issue was. He's helped us with more than one plumbing issue and my family would rather go with him for any other plumbing issues before we go to anyone else. The times he wasn't able to come same day he was always accommodating to our schedules and made a point to be really helpful on preventative tips as well as solutions!

I used Matt and Low Cost Drain and Plumbing for toilet replacement last year and wrote a positive review (9/25/12). This time I had more serious pluming work - a slab leak. Matt and his assistant were once again prompt in assessing the situation and fixing the problem (after discussion options, decided on a reroute). They also continued to show up when they said they would (or call ahead if they were running late.) I recommend them for plumbing problems both big and small.

I initially called Matt from Low Cost Drain Plumbing who agreed to come over at 8 am on Tues to help install a new Delta kitchen faucet I picked up at Home Depot.  The faucet required me to replace my two shut off valves so I thought I would leave it to a professional. Well knowing that plumbers charge by the hour, I made a mental note that Matt showed up 12 minutes late to my house.  He then came inside my kitchen to scope the job.  He tried inserting the spray hose into the channel opening in the faucet but could not figure out how to do it. I thought to myself oh oh.  
I then told Matt he needed to shut off the main valve outside to shut off the water supply.  He tried but could not do it. He told me to call the Board of Water Supply and promptly left telling me to call him afterwards when the water is shut off.  Within 20 minutes, the water is turned off and I call Matt back. Matt tells me he is only going to replace my shut off valves when he returns and furthermore plans to charge me $125 for wasting his time as I was not ready.  Auwe braddah, you got to be kidding.  I told Matt I wanted him to do the complete job and not just replace my shut off valves.  He tells me to find another plumber.  So I did.  Very unprofessional and does not know his trade.

Interesting guy.  Was kind of rough on the phone and intimidating in person but he ended up being a cool guy.

He was able to fix my slow drain.  He did throw me off quite a bit.  At one point, he poured boiling water down the drain and he was giving it some time to take effect.  I offered him a soda to drink and he accepted.  He opened the can and DUMPED IT ALL DOWN THE DRAIN.  He said that soda is very good at clearing drains.  

Then he proceeded to go look at what other cleaners I had taken out from under the cabinet and started randomly pouring those down the drain. Vinegar (luckily still had enough to cook adobo that night).  One was even carpet cleaner.  I am not sure if my jaw dropped or not but he totally caught me off guard.  haha.

He asked if I had a plunger he could use.  Thought it was strange that a plumber doesn't have a plunger but no biggie.  Fortunately I did have one.

Overall, I would call on him again.  I think I know what to expect now so hopefully I won't be caught off guard again.  Just gotta hide the vinegar, soda, and beer.   :)

I would definitely recommend this business.  I had to call twice to reach him but it's ok I understand he has a business to run.  I was a little impatient due to the fact we had been bathing night after night for a week with a clogged bathtub drain.  Dirty knee high water is so not the business.  Anyway, after looking on yelp and saw good reviews I decided to give him a call.  Other plumbing businesses quoted an arm and a leg just to get them to come out to look and not even to solve the problem.  He was good about offering an appt the next day after explaining the situation.  He even gave a flat rate over the phone and had his wife translate in Japanese for my grandmother.  Our drain is fixed and I'm so happy we went with Matt.

My 7-year old son has a serious problem understanding the correct amount of toilet paper that needs to be used when wiping his okole. He loves to use huge wads of toilet paper and this inevitably causes clogs. One night while I was having the time of my life with a bunch of yelpers, this is the phone call I get from my boyfriend...

+BOYFRIEND: You have to come home! The upstairs toilet is flooding and there's water everywhere!

So home I went and the bathroom was indeed flooded. I called Matt to unclog our toilet and opted to have him come the next day to save some money. He told me he'd come between 2 or 3 pm depending on how long his other jobs were taking. The next day he gave me a call when he was 15 minutes out and I really appreciated the heads up. Matt arrived and brought his gear up the stairs to our bathroom. It didn't take him long to fix it and he only charged me $80, which was much better than the $200 I had paid the last time. Having him come during regular working hours was definitely worth it. Another great experience and hopefully my son will keep his toilet paper usage under control.

Bruddah Matt is a Savior,

My mom recently purchased a home in Kapolei and needed me to do some water inspectioning because she couldn't understand why she is paying a water bill and no one is living in the house.  Anyways during my inspection i came upon a leaky toilet that was always filling the reservoir up so I turned it off by the valve.  Little did I know I caused a problem.  I loosened up a leak right by the valve that filled around the toilet with water.  Tried finding a main valve around the home but the gateway valve by the sidewalk was the only one that could do the job.  Another problem the gateway valve was also leaking.  I decided to try and shut it off but another problem,  closed the valve all the way and was still leaking.  Valve was deffective and couldn't close all the way.   Decision was to leave all the phaucets running to relieve any pressure going to the leaky toilet.  I was on the computer looking for a good plumber and came across Matt.  

Matt was so helpful over the phone and really was up to the job that I needed to get done or it would flood the whole top floor of the house.  Matt got me into his schedule and began his magic.  Matt actually did a great job especially when cementing is involved which he had to do also but got someone else to do the masonary work.
Matt also fixed my toilet at no cost which I really do admired

Job came out OK and can sleep better at nights now.

I called this company for advice after my toilet clogged last night and I had to call a 24hr service to come and fix it but after an hour of trying he charged me $250 and left me with an unusable toilet. He was very helpful and gave me different scenarios and adviced me well. I was able to call the company back and have them correct the problem. So even though I never tried his services, he's definitely my first call for plumbing issues next time. Called Low Cost this morning with a water leak from my toilet that I had spent to much time trying to fix.  I received a call back within an hour promising to be at our unit at 2pm.  Plumber arrived right on time and fixed my leak in an hour.  He was very polite, priced very reasonably and neat.  Thanks for the great service and whenever I have a plumbing need in the future Low Cost will be my first call.

Called Matt on a Saturday morning as my water heater decided to leak on me and seep into the walls and carpet next to it. Out of all the plumbers called, he was 1 out of 2 to call back after having left a voice mail msg.  Matt was able to give some advice to save me some moolah prior to him coming over to finish the job.  I picked up a new water heater at Home Depot and drained the old water heater while I waited for Matt.  He came over as scheduled (on a Saturday) and was able to finish the job in no time.  Cost me $200 and well worth it.  I will definitely call Matt if I do have any more plumbing issues.  *crossing fingers that I don't.  Thanks again Matt!

I have used Matt Henderson several times in my house which had deteriorated sewer lines, every time he has provided excellent service.  He is honest, always stands behind his estimates, super hard working, and has always been correct about the cause of problems.  My landlord did not want to repair the faulty sewer lines, so Matt had to return several times to unclog them.  Each time he gave the landlord an honest assessment of the real cause of the problem and did as he was instructed.  Finally after 3 drain clearings, the landlord agreed to replace the sewer line and just as Matt said, the sewer line was cracked and the cause of the frequent clogs.  Matt also stood behind his original estimate for the repair, even though that estimate was almost a year old.  He has my highest recommendation!!

I live in a condo and had a hard time finding a plumber who could help me.  A lot of plumbers say they don't want to work in condos for insurance purposes.  We were leaking into the bathroom ceiling of our downstairs neighbors unit.  The 1st plumber I found, came out and said it was our toilet, reset the toilet and told me everything would be fine.  It was till water started pouring into the downstairs bathroom.  Matt was recommended to me by a friend so I called him and he came over.  He was so thorough, he quickly found we had a cracked pipe and was able to change it out.  He did an excellent job!!!  Him and his coworker pono were so professional.  They were lightning fast and they cleaned up their mess!!  I expected a hefty bill since I know plumbers aren't cheap.  But the cost was so reasonable I couldn't believe it.  If you want quality work and great service give matt a call :)

Matt was great.  For years I have had issues with our outside hose bibs.  Matt was able to make all of them more accessible for me and my family.  He did a wonderful job especially since it was late in the day when he was able to come.  Honolulu traffic always makes it interesting.  He finished the work in the dark with the help of out shop light. It was a call at about 8:30pm on a weekday evening and not even the well known plumbing places had someone that could come at the time. Matt was the only guy that picked up and able to come out of all the numbers I've called.

It was only to replace a broken, leaking garbage disposal, so not really much of an emergency that couldn't wait until the next day. But if it was an emergency, I was surprised how long it took for me to find someone that could work, even though I live in the middle of Honolulu. So Matt comes to the rescue.

He did a pretty great job, quick, and is really friendly, easy to talk to. He works around the clock. I don't want to bug him during his sleep, but it's nice to know that there is someone to rely on in case such a plumbing emergency would occur. He'll be my first guy to call if that happens!

By far the best plumber on the island. I've been trying to get a plumber to snake my lain sewer line for the past several days with no luck. I've used online sites such as Angie's List and Thumbtack and none of the recommended plumbers called me back. One guy was even a no show without a courtesy phone call. John at Low Cost Drain Plumbing was responsive and scheduled an appointment right away. I needed an 80-100 ft snake which he had. He kept in touch with me to let me know when he was available. He was the only one to call me back and keep in touch. The job was done quickly and most importantly it was done at an extremely fair price!  John is serious about customer service and because of that I will not hire any other plumber other than John and Low Cost Drain Plumbing. Give them a call and you wont be disappointed!

I live in a condo right now, and had a water heater situation.  I did some quick searching on the internet, and decided to give Low Cost Drain Plumbing a try as they were highly rated.
 I called the phone number and Matt (the owner) answered, did not have to leave a message and wait for a return call.  This was on a Friday afternoon, was able to schedule an appointment for an estimate the following morning at no cost.  On the basis of this site visit, I decided to have him come back the next day to fix the situation.
 Matt was able to purchase the required pipes and other items, came back on Sunday afternoon and completed repairs and testing within an hour.  He was courteous and professional, and explained what he was doing in a manner so that I was able to understand.
 I highly recommend Matt and his company without reservation; I have more plumbing work that needs to be done and definitely plan to use this company again.

Called Low Cost Plumbing. Apparently my second bathroom toilet was leaking to the unit below. John came and fixed the problem like a PRO and answered my questions like a friend.
Fast forward 12 months, my kitchen sink was clogged. Called LCP and to my surprise  John
came to the rescue on time and when schedule was agreed on. He points out what, where and why with a pinch of humor and passion.

John was terrific, able to snake the main drain, removed the toilet, cleaned up.  He came on-time, was extremely courteous and went beyond the job to fix a few other minor plumbing issues too, including shower heads.  I am very impressed.  He knows his trade well and I highly recommend him!

Our toilet was leaking and the screw came off.  We found Low Cost Drain Plumbing on Yelp.  Whereas others did not even answer their phones, John Merryman answered and came the same day we called. Very knowledgeable and great service. He arrived on time (in the one hour time slot he said he would) and was very upfront and honest with the cost and what it included: inspection, repair and installation of the toilet flange and wax ring. Turns out the person who previously installed the toilet for us did a faulty job. The flange was almost an inch lower than where it should've been and there was no wax seal to ensure that whatever was flushed down the toilet went down the drain instead of flooding under the toilet.  John did a great job and cleaned up after himself. John's just one of those good, honest guys you can trust. Good price and value. We're happy we found John and will definitely use him again!

looked @ my unit 3 times blamed it on the condo building. didn't help me explain the situation thoroughly to the building manager took my $320 and ran away fast as he could.In the end I got another plumber from the building manager and got everything fixed in 20min. I was having small kine difficulty installing a bidet attachment for my toilet that I had bought online. 99% through with the install, water kept dripping from what appeared to be the supply line. While I tightened and re-tightened all the nuts, my mom called Matt unbeknownst to me.

Well, I was glad she did. I spoke to Matt personally and he said to shoot him a video/pic of the situation. I was amazed at his knowledge and professionalism over the phone, (I could tell he was a cool guy from the start anyway!) and after asking me probing questions, he told me if there was any rubber washers to any of the nuts. I said let me look and I'll call Matt back. Dumb picture type instructions in the box- the missing washer was IN THE BOX still yet- not in the little plastic baggie! Good thing I didn't throw the box away!!! I unscrewed the top nut that went towards the fill valve, put the washer in, and - VOILA. No leakage, no drips, no sound, no NOTHING. PERFECT!!!

Matt was so kind he said no charge over the phone my braddah. Least I could do is give this braddah a 5 star rating on Yelp. Mom is super happy, he saved me and my wallet just to come out and put in one washer,  I highly recommend superior customer service oriented braddahs like him. Our gas water heater burst yesterday morning and was flooding our backyard. Called Matt, who came out quickly, helped me remember where our water shutoff valve is, and got the situation under control. Matt also noticed our solar water tank was leaking and corroded, helped get them both replaced by the manufacturer, helped pick them up and installed them. Matt is amazing and goes above and beyond what most people (in any profession) would do.  What started out as a simple valve replacement for all of my sinks (3 sinks) and toilets (2 toilets) (and unexpectedly my water heater) turned into an all-day affair as the water wouldn't shut off for my building.  Matt worked tirelessly with my building manager to figure out how to turn off the water to my building before he started working in my unit.  He even called the City to have the water turned off from the street to ensure that I wouldn't have any water damage in my unit.  When the water was finally turned off, he did an excellent job (very neat and clean) replacing all of my valves.

Called about a clogged toilet and they came out in a couple hours to check it out.  When they came, they had me run the water and flush al the toilets just to see if there was a clog in the main line.  But, everything was clear.  They explained how something might have been stuck but now it was clear.  They didn't charge me.  It was nice of them to be so responsive and explain.

This company busted my P trap while snaking and caused a leak to the unit below and literally left in the middle of the job once they realized they caused a huge problem. They left huge clumps of hair and filthy rubbish everywhere. They made a mess and were straight jerks! I had to call A-1 budget to fix their mess which ended up costing so much more. A-1 told me that they messed up my pipes pretty bad. The owner was so completely unprofessional. I do not recommend this company!

Many mahalos Matt Henderson!   Called at 7:30pm Sunday after returning home from a trip to Kauai...  - Post Christmas Sunday - this braddah shows up in 45 minutes.  CHRISTMAS WEEKEND!!!! HO WOW!!!!   But wait - Not only that... - he offered 1/4 the amount of most emergency plumbers.  He fixed our plumbing issues up, talked story like family and hele'd on his sweet little way.....  Honestly -  I would tell my mom, dad, brother, sister neice, nephew, daughter, son -- to call this guy when needed.  Any day. Fast and efficient service!

Matt gave me the earliest response, which I really needed to fix my plumbing problems. It was also a plus that they have the #1 rating on Yelp for plumbing service and are closest to my location. I called today at 9:31am to repair my clogged toilet and shower that won't shut off. Matt said they will arrive within an hour.

I was praying that they will arrive on time as I cannot wait any longer to have water on my property (and bad experience with other sevice before). The Yelp reviews are correct. They arrived at 10:29 am. Matt didn't waste any minute. He immediately checked the problems and quoted me for $140 plus cost of materials. He left for City Mill and bought the parts. My shower and toilet were fixed within 1.5 hours and I'm happy with his service. I would hire him again for future plumbing needs.

BTW, he accepts checks, gave me a written receipt and a business card. He is also a licensed contractor with dba Honolulu Leak Detection.

Had a good and efficient experience with Low Cost Drain Plumbing.  Had an issue with a garbage disposal in a condo. Called John on Monday, he scheduled a time for the next day, Tuesday. Monday evening, I received a text to confirm the appointment.  On Tuesday, a plumber (Chris?) appeared a bit early and brought a new disposal with him. However, he looked at my garbage disposal, figured out what was wrong with it and fixed it, instead of replacing it - saving me money and time!  He even took the time to explain how the disposal pipes work and why they can be problematic.  He was professional and easy to talk to...I will definitely call these guys again, if needed.

We had a problem with our water heater when it suddenly stopped working. We tried all the dummy things and nothing worked. Called John and he was able to come the next day.

Luckily, the problem was as simple as resetting the thermostat switch and he didn't charge us. It feels good to not be overcharged and to be treated fairly. Will definitely use him again if needed and I highly recommend going to John for any issues.

I called Low Cost Plumbing on a Monday, left a message, got a call back in a couple of hours, and Matt scheduled an appointment to come out the next day. He told me he was going to come out at about 12 noon, he ended up coming out a little earlier. Took a look at my problem, made a couple of suggestions then waited for my approval. He couldn't fix my problem that day cause i took too long to respond (i was at work). He made time in his busy schedule to come out the next day, and again showed up earlier than promised. By Wednesday, he fixed my problem in a timely matter with the highest quality and $300 dollars less than another company's quote. I couldn't be happier and would definitely do business with again. So apparently Matt who owned this business, sold it to this guy named John.  We had an issue with a leak from our overflow drain that leaked downstairs to another unit.  He recommended ripping out everything to be safe!!  New tub, new tile etc.  His quote...anywhere from over $5000 and up!!!! We called another plumber and his quote was only $400+ and that included changing our overflow and drain and sealing it, and fixing the pipes which are corroded and close up the dry wall in the ceiling below!!  Go figure!!  I'm happy we decided to get another quote from Kawamoto's Plumbing.

Matt might be the best kept secret in this arena.  He is prompt, professional, honest and knows what he's doing.  That combination gets the job done right.

We call on Matt for every single plumbing problem at our house.  While our house is at least 40 years old, he keeps all the plumbing working and fixed promptly and done well.  One time, we needed a last minute fix a leaking toilet and Matt was already booked solid that day so we ended up calling another company.  Well, that other company seemed to fix it only we had to get it fixed again a few days later.  Those guys were super fast but the parts they installed and job just didn't do it.  So we called on Matt who was able to come to the rescue this time.

Matt is the go-to plumber, ie, a plumber's plumber, when you can't locate the source of a water leak.  He has the high-tech sounding equipment and the experience to solve a leak problem that has mystified me and my plumber for days.
Given that my house is 60+ years old, he located the source of the slab-leak and offered different options to repair the leak.
He is a thorough, methodology-driven, intelligent professional.  I would not hesitate to hire him for your next plumbing job, whether just to replace a garbage disposer or to do a re-pipe.

Matt did it again.  He was called at 1:00 PM on a Holiday and showed up at 3:00 PM.  He did a great job in quickly fixing a gas water heater.  He completed the installation by 4:00 by hand around to make sure everything was working.  There were some issues with the heater supplied by Home Depot, but he came back to correct the problems.
Again, I would not hesitate to call Matt in the future.  He up front with the cost.

I first used Matt at Low Cost Drain Plumbing about 3 years ago to replace a shower fixture I started to replace but ended up in a Brokanic situation.  We recently had the toilet tank overflow resulting in flooding in half of our house.  This was due to a fill valve that popped the tank cover off and ran the water all day into our floor.  Matt informed us that our regulator valve which controls and manages the flow of water from the street service into the home needed to be replaced.  We think that it was due to the faulty valve with contributed to the flooding and our recent leak in the water heater.  I called Matt on Tuesday morning after Labor day and told him the problems.  He asked me to take some pics and text it to him which would allow him to pick up the part before arriving at my house.  We had Matt change the regulator valve and replace  the 50 gallon water heater for $1,200.  This might be on the high side of pricing but is there such thing as a cheap plumber?  Matt showed up on the afternoon with all the parts and completed the work in about 2 hours.

What the? Stop what you are doing bc Matt is gonna ruin...

Thank you so so so so much Matt! So my toilet stopped flushing, the tank was not filling with water as it was clogged with sediment. I was sooo worried, the toilet is kind of an important household tool! So I gave him a call and within the quarter of an hour he was literally able to come to my home and in about an hour completely fix the problem.  

As a matter a fact, he made the darn thing work better than it ever has! Are you kidding me? I am excited to use my toilet now. Yeeeeah!

To summarize, he is competent, completely knowledgable about his craft, patient with silly home owner with no knowledge of this matter, extremely professional and is now declared by me the Aiea superman!

Pros:  I received a return call pretty early the same day from the owner.  There was someone he could send. The plumber working with/for him was pleasant to talk with and courteous, kept me informed on timing,  and showed up when he said he would about 4:30 p.m. He was very considerate and pleasant to work with.  

Cons:  The owner is not very pleasant to talk with.  He charges double on the weekends and late hours. His worker, the plumber, couldn't fix the drainage problem as the only snake machine he had brought with him broke and wasn't working right.  Hence, he told my husband that he'd come back with another bigger cable if we couldn't get anyone else to come out that evening.  Around 6-6:30 p.m. that evening,  I text him back to tell him we couldn't get anyone else to come out that night and that the earliest would be the next morning,  so if he could come back with a different bigger cable, that we would greatly appreciate it. No response....until now.

Needless to say, we got someone else to come out the next day and fix the problem.

Thank you Yelp for connecting me to John and Low Cost Drain Plumbing. As generic and straight forward as the name sounds, it's exactly what you want when you need the help he provides. No nonsense, straight forward and gives an explanation to you in English. Not that industry jargon that you might here some of those fancier more expensive plumbers might throw at you.

My toilet had that high pitch noise coming out of it. Doing a little internet research, I discovered that I needed the fill valve replaced. I also had a leaky bathtub so I figured might as well address that as well.

I messaged the company through Yelp and John replied within 24 hours. Gave him a call and described to him my problem. Within a few days after we agreed on a time, he came by and took a look. Boy am I glad he did, he checked out. The piping and took a look under the house as well and found that the pipes leading into the house had a few leaks!

So within a week we addressed the leaky pipes, the toilet and even the leaky bathtub. The estimate provided was a little more than the actual but that's because he was able to stop the domino effect. He found one area that he was able to fix that remedied the other problem areas.

Thank you John for helping us out especially during the busy holiday period. I plan on bringing him back in to changed out our stems to the main valve of the house, which if you know over time in an old house can get corroded and rusted.

I recommend you give these folks a call if you have any problems with your plumbing.

My sink was leaking under the cabinet so I called John to check on it.  He arrived promptly and after testing the faucet that he had just installed a week before, discovered the water was coming through the crack where the caulking had deteriorated between the sink and the counter.  He told me to re-caulk the cracks and it should solve the problem.  He did not charge me anything for his time.  Thanks again, John!

When three people use a toilet, and the sewer line is backed up, things needs to get fixed pronto!  I got an estimate from another plumber who was very pleasant and had good suggestions.  But Low Cost Drain Plumbing offered to the do the job for $80 less and could come out real quick so I went with them.  John was on time (even a little early) and knew what he was doing to clear the sewer line.  When it was clear, to confirm it he had me run all the lines in the house at the same time, and everything kept flowing clear.  Yeah!  Low Cost Drain Plumbing will be the first company that comes to mind for future plumbing needs.

Got a nasty clog in our kitchen drain which we unsuccesfully tried to clear with a civilian grade drain snake. Called this company b/c he is located close to us in Hawaii Kai and b/c of he great reviews here. Called Matt around 6 pm on a Tue, he picks up and tells me he can't come out today (understandable) but he could meet me at 3pm tomorrow since he had a big job on the N. Shore in the morning. Well, I clear my schedule for the afternoon, grab my daughter from school at 2:30 and drive lightspeed home to meet this guy. 3 o'clock comes around, nothing. Should I call him? No I don't want to hassle him, he's probably running Hawaiian time. 3:30 comes around, no Matt, no phone call. I finally give him a call and he picks up:

Oh yeah, hi, I've been meaning to call you. I'm still in the North Shore. I'm having a real hard time this job, it's killing me. Would you like to reschedule? (completely straight faced..not even an apology)

Muther fu#@er. Are you kidding me? Are you running this company out of your moms garage? Do you know how much you screwed up my day and not even a phone call? I'm actually pretty reasonable and if I at least got a single courtesy phone call sometime before he realized he wouldn't make it, I wouldn't be writing this. Complete disrepect and lack of common customer service.

I ended up calling Fast Rooter Plumbing (Mike) who came within the hour and fixed the problem in 40 minutes for $40 less than what Matt quoted me.

I'm sure you do fantastic work when you decide to show up for a job, but if you're running late or you know you won't make a gig, a phone call goes a long way Matt. Figure it out.

He already had 3 appointments but still took my appointment the same day. I had a Dripping Faucet that seriously needed replacement including the shut off valve under the sink. Not only that my toilets were making strange hissing noises.

Matt not only changed my faucet and valves but also the components and flapper on both of my toilets!

He is the most honest plumber I have ever met and because my repair went smoothly he gave me an unexpected discount on his work performed. I have never had any plumber charge me less than their quoted price!

My kitchen sink and garbage disposal had been draining slowly over the past few months, but I decided I'd address it later. Big mistake. I did a quick search for a plumber and Low Cost Drain popped up first. With such great reviews, I figured it was worth a shot. Matt was able to squeeze me in the following day and quoted me at a reasonable price for the backed up garbage disposal. However, all this would change once he began work.

He initially tried snaking the pipes, but the problem was unresolved. He recommended hydrojetting, which is basically like pressure cleaning the insides of the pipes. The process was still unsuccessful and I was starting to become worried over the price he would give me at the end of all this.

The absolute best part of the day occurs at this point. He tried snaking again and we could hear the snake traveling up the wall towards the roof. I made a comment about my house being old and that it built by a monkey. What does he do after that comment? He takes that phrase literally and he climbs up on top of my roof to find the vent pipe and snake form there! Incredible and above & beyond what I was expecting from him! After a short time of him snaking the vent, my kitchen sink started flowing smoothly again.

Long story short: Regular maintenance of fixtures will go a long way, but in the emergency event, Matt is amazing! He is great at what he does and works hard to get the job done! Even after all the work he did with the multiple snaking attempts and hydrojetting, Matt charged me a great price! I will turn to him in the future if I ever encounter more plumbing issues!

Called Low Cost Drain Plumbing this morning and spoke to the owner John.

I needed to replace the hot water line for my aunt's kitchen faucet due to a leak and severe corrosion.

John said he could stop by around 1pm but he actually came earlier around 12:30pm which was great!

He and Chris wasted no time in getting to work right away.  It took them less than 1 hour to replace the corroded galvanized line outside the house with copper piping and they also installed a new angle stop valve for my aunt's new kitchen faucet.

John and Chris were very professional, extremely knowledgeable, and they worked well together.

Thanks to John and Chris, my aunt has running water!

I would highly recommend Low Cost Drain Plumbing for all your plumbing needs.

I was very impressed by their efficient work methods and that is a huge compliment since I am very selective when it comes to hiring reliable, honest and knowledgeable companies.

I will definitely use them in the future to take care of all our plumbing needs.

Very reliable service!
It did take about a day for John to respond to my voicemail (it was the weekend when I called) but he did get back to me the following Monday.
After I explained that I had two chronically leaking toilets he sent Chris over to fix them.
Chris was very professional and fixed both toilets in a timely manner.
Unfortunately one of the toilets still had problems after repair; but Chris came over again and fixed the issue at no additional cost! Thank you Chris!

Late review.  I needed a toilet replaced back in September and shopped around yelp for plumbers.  I intended to go with a cheaper option that I found, but spoke with John to get a quote and felt better going with LCD Plumbing.  He knew alot about the plumbing issues in my building, to the point where he knew my building maintenance manager by name, and was experienced with the issues that I was having as one of the corner units on my floor.
He was able to fit me in the next day - showed up pretty much right on time, and called 15 mins before the appt time to let me know he was on his way.  I was given an estimate with a range of $100 between the high end and low end, and was happy that it ended up being on the low end.  Would recommend.

There was a leak in my toilet valve. The first floor ceiling felt soft. I didn't know who to call, I have had so so experience with plumbers before. I check on Yelp & found this company had the best reviews. I called at 9am & left a message. Story short John came at 5:30 & finished by 6:30. Great price, great service,  good advice. Will definitely call him again if I have plumbing issues.

I found Low Cost Plumbing on Memorial Day, he was the only one who answered the phone! Charged us a flat rate and didn't charge a transportation fee. I called for a clogged kitchen sink, he got the job done quickly, and made sure everything was sound before he left. Will definitely call if I need his plumbing services in the future!

Responded quickly to my inquiry, came over to take a look at the job that day. I needed some non-emergency work done in the crawl space under my house. His quote came out the best of four who responded.

John was easy to communicate with and in the end, did what he said he was going to do for the price he said he would it for. Although it's only been a few weeks, I haven't had any problems and the work looks quality.

Part II: turns out my plumbing problem was much bigger than a clogged drain.  John made time to come back today to finish a big job. He was even able to save me money by getting the job under control so that I didn't need to take delivery of a portable potty.  He took the time to fix everything the right way.  He also fixed a small issue not related to my drainage problem for no extra charge. Long story short, I clogged the garbage disposal and yelped plumbers who'd be available at 8:30 p.m. Matt (owner/plumber) answered and said he could come down within the hour and get the job done in an hour or so. Gave me an estimate of $250 (which is good considering a few other plumbers wouldn't over the phone and it was an emergency situation.)
He got here and my little clog was actually a major clog (needed the big snake) so it actually took a little over 2 hours vs. 1 and he still gave me the same price for all that hard work! I felt bad, so I gave him a tip but was also glad to since he was honest about the price. Would def recommend him again in such a situation.

Lesson learned: Papaya seeds do not belong in my kitchen sink with the garbage disposal. Ooops! Figured I'd experiment since my friend's garbage disposal seems OK with papaya seeds.

Matt, the plumber, is available 24/7. He answered my telephone inquiry on a Saturday afternoon. He listened to me about my plumbing problem and quoted usual-work-hour cost (between 8 AM and 4 PM) and after-work cost (a premium) for fixing the problem. I decided to do the after-work cost since my weekday work schedule is not conducive to middle-of-the-day appointments. Matt was professional, personable/friendly, and efficient throughout the whole experience - from answering the phone and getting the job done. Good work!

John is great person to call if you need a plumber!  He explains what is going on with your plumbing, how it happens and what you can do to help reduce future issues. John was great to work with.  He returned my call right away and came by that evening to give me an estimate.  The job was to replace my old cracking cast-iron drains; it was not yet leaking so it was not an emergency job.  He was very easy to work with and very informative.  He explained in detail everything that needed to be done and made sure that I understood.  He also gave some options on how I could proceed with the whole job at once or if I wanted to do it in phases.  He was very knowledgeable, patient, and clear in his explanations.

The price for his work was significantly less than the competition.  I will definitely call John for future plumbing needs.

After replacing my fluidmaster fill valve and supply line with brand new parts about 4:30pm today, I find out the angle valve stop drips...never dripped before...why N-O-W ???

I thought the leakage was from the bottom end of the braided stainless steel supply line that I installed at least 7-8 years ago, that's why I replaced the supply line and fluidmaster...nope...my Brasscraft brand (oem/installed in late '93) started to drip...1 drip every 2 seconds...decided to turn off the shut-off valve to off, and call a plumber...since I never had ever replaced a angle valve stop before...I didn't want to replace it myself especially at night, so I called Matt...(had used him back in June to do preventative sewer drain line clean out)...

Great...he could come within 2 hours...but actually came about 6:30pm...replaced it within like 8 minutes with a new angle valve stop, and even corrected my install of my work that I just did (didn't install the new black tubing that fills the overflow tube--thought it was ok..ok, it was a little hard)...he said I should replace it, as it wasn't right...(see what laziness can do?)..he replaced it and even adjusted the water level as it was a low flow type toilet..(I knew it was a low flow toilet, but the water line level is showing near the top of the fill valve tube, so that's why I had it always filled to that height line level).

He showed me that the Brasscraft had a rubber washer internally (as he turned it to the on and off position in his hands so that I could see that washer) compared to new angle valve stops that now have a stainless steel washer... that was the cause of the dripping...

Anyway, after doing the job...he already quoted me the price before coming over, I chit chatted with him for about 10 about anything and everything...congrats on he soon to be a father!

Nice guy...highly recommend you use him (Matt Henderson) and his company... he normally is just himself and an his assistant or his wife...

If you have an unlimited budget, Low Cost Drain might be worth considering.  I received 3 estimates for a draining project and Low Cost Drain was by far the most expensive.  The project was not too complicated and was completed by another licensed company for three times less than Low Cost Drain's bid.

John just came to my small store and replaced my toilet.  He gave me the option to buy on my own or he can purchase it also.  I chose to buy it on my own.  John was very helpful in what to purchase.  He recommended Home Depot and I guess because he buys for his business he told me what to look for.  And the best part of it, it was $107.00.  Small little details he let me look for also.  He warrants his work and it was done quickly and you wouldn't know anyone came to installed.   He charged just $104.71.  I would recommend him to anyone that needs plumping.

I'm installing a new washing machine and ventless dryer in a week. I want to make sure that the pipes and hook ups are in good condition before the installation. I found Matt on Yelp. He scheduled a time the same day I called him. I was impressed! He is polite, efficient, and on time, and his repair work is reasonably priced. The bonus was that his work looked like art... I have never written a review on yelp but I am writing one for these guys because they were awesome. They saved me a lot of money and trouble. They came out to fix a clog in my kitchen sink and when they saw it was being clogged from hair in my bathroom drain they unclogged the bathroom drain also free of charge. I had roto rooter come out initially and they tried to charge me triple the amount of money without even looking at the problem. I am so glad I called this company. They were very friendly, professional, reasonable, and efficient. I highly recommend this company!

I totally recommend Matt!  I had called another plumber earlier in the day but they never called me back.  I found Matt through Yelp and he was actually was able to arrive 30 minutes earlier than he initially said.  He came at 6:30pm and had to go out and buy parts so didn't finish till around 9:30pm so I was afraid of the final charges since I assumed I was going to be billed hourly and possibly a night charge.  But Matt charges by the job so it was super reasonable!

He will definitely by my go to for my future plumbing needs.

In dire need of a plumber to find and fix a leak that was coming thru my bathroom vent.  I spoke to John, told him what's the problem and scheduled an appointment.  John actually diagnosed the problem on the phone.  He's that good! John was on time, professional, funny and most importantly honest.  In the end, found out the leak was coming from the unit upstairs.  John replaced the toilet upstairs.  When John told me how much he charged them, I was surprised.  He could have charged them double the cost.  Very Low Cost Drain Plumbing should be his new name!  Been 4 days since and no leaks!!  Thanks again John!

Was very impressed when I called Matt. He diagnosed the problem on the phone after I described it. He even gave me the cost on the phone. When he arrived, he was all smiling and very friendly. Very approachable and professional too. After fixing the problem, which he did not take long to do, he gave me free advice on fixing some of the problems he saw in my bathroom. I highly recommend Matt as the go to plumber.  He is unlike those typical plumbers. He is very friendly and explains everything thoroughly.
The best thing is he doesn't charge you and arm and a leg. I saved a lot of money by using him as a plumber.  Matt was quick to arrive when I called to get my clogged kitchen sink and bathroom sink fixed. Can't say enough good things about Matt.  

We had roots invade our main sewer pipe, and despite my own attempts over many months to treat them I was fighting a losing battle.  This week the pipe became completely blocked.

Matt called back within minutes of my message, and came out the following day.  He snaked the line and sent a camera down, assessing the problem - a section would need to be dug up and replaced.  Matt was able to come back the following day and complete the job.  Since it took less time than he anticipated, he even charged me less than he had quoted.  Refreshing.

Had a couple of simple plumbing issues in a house where you really don't want to touch or tighten anything 'cause it will only get worse.  Wasn't an emergency call, but Matt and Pono got here, assessed the situation, and fixed it. - Great communication from the start.  John contacted me almost immediately (8 or 9 other plumbers on Yelp with good reviews did not), and had his helper Chris contact me right away.  Chris was out within a day or two to take a look at the job (water softener and whole house water filter install, which involved installing about 50-60 feet of pipe from the main line to the filter/softener and return).
- Two days later (same week), John and Chris showed up exactly on time and finished the job in a couple hours.  Wow.
- Cost was $400 less than other quotes I had, and installation was completely professional with all copper piping.  Noting Low Cost also has a 10% military discount... much appreciated John!
- Bottom line, great communication, great work, quick turnaround, and great price.   Would give John and Chris 6 stars if Yelp allowed.

I'm about to let you in on a little secret: life is too short to sit around waiting for a plumber to show up when you have only one bathroom sink and it won't drain. Especially when you're a full-time working mom of a toddler. Know how I know this? Read on...

Based on the amazing Yelp reviews, we called Low Cost Drain Plumbing on Saturday, and left a message to make an appointment to fix our sink. We expressed a sense of urgency in this message, so when we hadn't yet received a call back on Monday afternoon, I called again. Matt was on a job and asked me to text him my address and phone number, and said he'd call me back as soon as he was done to make an appointment - he said within the next 15 to 20 minutes. Three hours later I texted him to see if he could come, told him it was okay if he couldn't but to please let me know so I could make other arrangements. He called me then and made an appointment for the next day (Tuesday) between 11-12pm.

Tuesday at 12:15 he still hadn't showed or called to reschedule so I sent a quick text (see attached photo) to see if he could still make it. He said he'd be here in 15 minutes.

Then 15 minutes later he called me to say he was on his way. When he asked if this was an emergency, I said that it definitely was -- our only bathroom's sink is completely clogged and will not drain. He then said that he wouldn't be coming and that it was best if I call someone else. No explanation why the sudden change. He literally went from Yeah, I'll be there in 15 minutes. Now I'm on my way up to your place. Um, actually, you should call someone else. WHAT???

I had repeatedly said to Matt that if he couldn't do the job to please let me know so I could just call someone else, because we were dealing with an emergency. I kept giving him the benefit of the doubt due entirely to the positive Yelp reviews. Well, from my experience, he isn't someone who can be counted on, not to mention completely unprofessional.

This whole interaction was a huge waste of my time. Please don't bother wasting YOUR valuable time with Matt from Low Cost Drain Plumbing. I've already found someone else to come out tomorrow and will be very happy to give them my business - and my recommendation once the job is done!

UPDATE 2/12/16: Matt decided to call my husband today and threatened legal action if I did not take down this review. He didn't bother to address me directly, but he's welcome to share his version of the story as a comment on my review. I 100% stand by my review, and will not take it down, because what I wrote about Matt and his business are a wholly accurate account of my experience with him. Clearly, many other Yelpers have had good encounters with him. I didn't. The Yelp community can take any of my reviews at face value - I've been a Yelp Elite for 7 years now, and the vast majority of my reviews are 4 and 5 stars. In fact, I had to call a different plumber when he didn't show up, and was very happy to give them a 5 star review for their excellent customer service and a job very well done. Great service and explanation from Matt on all the steps necessary to resolve a tricky drain problem. Snaking provided temporary relief, but very temporary. Using a hydro jet to clear the line seems to be working much better. Weird problems (low spot) in our very old piping mean digging up concrete for a true, permanent solution. But the intermediate fix seemed the right call for our situation, and should hold us for longer stretches than the quickie snake-it option. Who wants to burn money calling for another snaking job every few months. I recommend this company...

Oh, gads!  There's water dripping under the kitchen sink. I think it's coming from the U-shaped doo hickey coming from the disposal whacthamajiggy.  What to do, what to do?

I called Matt at Low Cost Drain. He was speedy and friendly.  Made an appointment and we was early. (Be still my heart.)

The doo hickey was fixed in a matter of minutes (for just under $90) and in the process I found a new go-to person for future plumbing issues.

Matt answered phone call around 6pm in the evening and was able to make it over to fix my Kitchen sink in less than an hour. Prior to arriving he quoted me a price from the description of symptoms and explained what work would need to be done. Upon completion of the work he charged me less than what was quoted over the phone.

What can I say about Matt? He's pretty fab for a plumber. So we have been having plumbing issues (issues is putting it nicely). Here's how last week went (BTW, I am Resident manager AND Honey):

Monday: Honey, call the plumber got poop in the tub. Had a different plumber come by to snake that drain.

Tuesday night: Honey, shit is coming up the drain again, call the plumber! Made 3 calls to different plumbers, evening libation in hand; Matt was the one that returned my call. He came out to the house around 830pm, and snaked that drain. He also told me what he thought the problem was, and that it was probably the last 4 feet of the pipes, before it got to the main sewer. He gave me a quote for the repair. BTW, even the next day, the other plumbers never bothered to call me back.

Wednesday: all good. PHEW!

Thursday: Honey, WTF? it's doing it AGAIN! called Matt again, he came out and snaked it. I was told to get a camera view so we could see what was going on. Matt was pretty much spot on, and it was a problem somewhere near the sewer connection. Had to get a 2nd estimate so I couldn't give the go ahead (yet) for the repairs. Matt was so awesome, he checked his schedule and realized he didn't have any drains to snake, so he left his snake just in case we have another issue.....yup, he left his snake for us. Wow!

Friday: no major plumbing issues, slow drains, and low usage, but the tub gurgled every time a toilet was flushed. Had a second plumber in for an estimate, FYI, that estimate was almost 2x what Matt quoted, and they would not be able to do the repairs until sometime the next week. No bueno--only rented the porta potty for the weekend. Must repair NOW!!!

Saturday: Matt was able to repair the line. Hubs did labor duty, helped out with digging (thanks hubs!) and almost 7 hours later, we have flushing success! Thank you, Matt! He found more issues with the pipes, and had to replace close to 8 feet of pipes. I was cringing when I asked him so, now, how much?. You know what this guy did? He stuck to his estimate. For Reals!

I am a total fan of Matt's plumbing. Got leaks? Call Low Cost Drain Plumbing. And, just know he's a one man operation, so give the guy a break if takes a little while to return your call. It's worth it!

I called Matt because a plumber that I had used previously (that I found on Yelp) would not pick up my calls. The work that the previous plumber had done a few months ago was beginning to leak again!

Since he wouldn't call me back, I had no choice but to find another plumber. This is where I came across Matt on Yelp. I told him about my bathroom shower faucet and how it had begun to leak again. He did a very accurate assessment over the phone, let me know what my problem was likely to be, and gave me his course of action. He came to my house the next day (because his parts place was closed on Sunday), did the work VERY fast. He found out that the other plumber did a bang up job on my faucets, even didn't put all the parts in (which is why it started to leak again!)

Matt is VERY personable, jokes around, and is VERY nice. He explains everything he has to do or is doing while he's doing it, so you know exactly what he's doing and why the things are not working.

He's available 24 hours a day, and picks up his phone every time I call him. And is willing to go all over to fix people's plumbing problems.

Also, he was VERY reasonably priced too!! To take apart my shower faucets, get my parts, and work on my shower for 2 hours, he charged me 90 bucks!! We tipped him well. He deserved it.

Update: Matt came to my house today (Saturday, 10-8-11) after working on my boyfriend's place first, and he put in a shut off valve to our main water pipe. It looks good, no leaks, he was fast, and as always very personable, friendly, and in a good mood. He said to watch the fixture for the next week, and if anything to give him a call.

Also, the bathtub faucet that he fixed last week is still working PERFECTLY. No leaks! Thank GOODNESS!

Definitely recommend John for your plumbing needs!  He's professional, knowledgeable, works clean and friendly.  Requested a quote online and after a phone conversation he came the next day to install my water heater.  He recommended changing out a main valve along with installing the water heater and everything he quoted for labor was right on!

I moved into a new house with a bad water heater.  I called around and reached John at Low Cost Plumbing and he was the only plumber who'd be able to come out same day to swap out the water heater. He arrived quickly and determined the water heater we had purchased would not fit under the house, so he offered to get us one in town - since we wanted same day service.  He was able to get the new water heater installed in a few hours!  His communication and followup was great and he even came back out to adjust the temperature of the heater because we weren't getting hot water for long.

Extremely pleased with the service I received from Matt. He even showed up about 15 minutes early for his 9am appointment. I was so very surprised because in the past I have waited hours for plumbers to show up. Matt even called from down the street asking if it was ok to show up early.
I found him to be very pleasant and easy to work with. After being used to paying over $100 just for the plumber to show up and make an assessment, and hundreds for the job to be done. I was completely shocked when my bill from Matt for all of the work was under $90.
Matt is my go to guy from now on. Highly recommended.

John was awesome and on it! He was busy (sign of a good plumber) and couldn't get to us right away, but kept the communication going and delivered great service. He ended up coming earlier than expected and saved us $600! He was professional and courteous as well. Would definitely give him a call again!

OMG! Chris just left doing a 20min job. I was a broke-anic last night and broke the pipes under my double kitchen sink. They said closed at 6pm but I called at 8pm for my disaster. Chris called back within minutes and scheduled to come by the next day. He was so easy to talk to and I'm in a panic. He arrived as planned...looked at the job...got the parts from his truck...and fixed it. 20min later he's leaving happy with a bag if lychee for his hāpai wife. Now we are both hero's for our family. Wow! Matt came out at short notice when I had a clogged kitchen drain.  He was done in less than an hour and with such professional service. Very reasonable rates.

This guy is on it! Fast, very energetic, prompt, smart, knew what was wrong and how to fix it properly (after I had paid an handyman that did not fix the leak properly). Super positive great attitude, efficiency, courtesy, friendly, kind of reasonable priced. Definitely recommended!

I called Matt based on Yelp reviews, and I'm glad I did.  I actually called him from the Mainland to help arrange a date and time to have some bathroom work done prior to arriving to visit family.  Matt was very patient and understanding of the needs/requirements we had for our particular situation (ADA compliant).  Communication is paramount with Matt; you can call him, text him, whatever, and he'll have your answer in short order, and he's not afraid to contact you, either, so that's pretty refreshing from someone in the service sector.  He's timely, does what he says he will, and he's very neat and conscientious about his work.  Matt will be our first call the next time we need a solid plumber to get it done.

Matt to the rescue! He fixed out sink leaks and even sat down to explain what the problem was and on top of that, he even diagnosed some other problems we had with our plumbing.

Thank God, because of Matt, we now understand what was wrong and what else was wrong with our house.

My parents loved him the moment he stepped in!

He fixed the problem that Carlos (Ala Wai Plumbing) didn't and even charged us a reasonable price.

So thankful we found Matt.

It's very hard to find a good plumber in Hawaii.  Jon is efficient and does a really complete job.  I have had to call on Jon on multiple occasions for multiple properties and am very happy with his service and workmanship.
