Kamaaina Plumbing and Renovations

I purchased a hot water heater from Home Depot in Kapolei, HI who contract w/ Kamaaina Plumbing. Shortly thereafter, Kamaaiana called me to request a pic of my old heater (it went into their spam inbox - weird). Next, Melissa from Kamaaina's office arranged my appointment with their plumber for an install and removal. Melissa was very attentive, professional and friendly. I had to put her on hold for a few minutes and she patiently waited my return to the phone.

On the day of install, Terrell, aka plumber, arrived. Terrell did an excellent install job. He was very courteous, professional and knowledgeable. This man is a hard worker. He focused on the task very efficiently. He gave me advise as how to best maintain a hot water heater and answered any questions I had very politely. Terrell is an excellent Kamaaina employee.

The water heater died over the holiday break; submitted a replacement request to Home Depot and Kamaaina sent Terrell.  Two highlights: Terrell showed up bright and early the very next morning and replaced a 40 gallon (now 38) water heater in less than two hours.  On top of that, Terrell was professional, polite, and adapted to some cramped conditions to get the job done.  Very pleased with Kamaaina, Terrell's now on my go to list for home repairs!  Highly recommended with no reservations.

I am very disappointed in this company.  I called them, spoke to someone (I am so sorry that I forgot her name because she was very helpful) and explained what I wanted, what my budget was, etc.  I was very honest and she took all my information.  She told me that she will speak with her estimator and get back to me when he would be able to come to my home, take measurements, speak with me and provide a quote.

She called me back, very apologetic, stating that the estimator said that my budget would not be enough to cover what I wanted so he won't be coming out to meet me.  That was it!  He didn't even try to say that they would work with me.  How disappointing.

I just got off the phone with another company who is at least willing to come out, take the measurements and provide me a quote.  If this company is willing to do this, it makes me wonder:
1) does it make this company more desperate than Kamaaina Plumbing?; or
2) does it make this company willing to work with someone to try to achieve their dream?

I believe #2 is the answer.

Kamaaina Plumbing was recommended to us by a family member. They came in and started working quickly to diagnose our problem. They didn't just give us their theories, they didn't tell us to tear out our new counter top and cabinets and they didn't quote us 400$ to send a camera down the pipe to see as 2 other vendors had done. They took action and worked around our cabinets and appliances to get to our plumbing. Their receptionist was friendly and reminded us about our appointments. They weren't timely for one of our appointments (due to an emergency at another site).. but it was okay, they were good at what they do and I didn't mind waiting for them. They were up front with us, efficient, knowledgeable, and reasonably priced. Both Alan and David were great!

Beware this company

Had appointment for work to be done from Home Depot.  They were no show, called office afternoon, she said stuck of different jobs , had to reschedule for another day..  Tech comes next day, rushing job, says he has a lot of jobs to do.  Did messy bad work.  Had to call company back that afternoon to send installer back , both jobs he did leaking.  He did a better work when he came back and was not rushing.  
 I don't know how this company is Home Depot's certified installation specialist.  Check for different companies to do installation work before hiring this company.

I chased this company down for 2 weeks to get a repair done, sent them video of the problem, went on the website twice to schedule an appointment (with no response), left voice mail and then finally scheduled an appointment after I called them a second time and they answered. Then they no showed on that appointment. When I called to find out what happened receptionist said she never put me on the schedule because she wanted me to call back and confirm? That was the a-ha moment for me... uhh duh on me I know. She said sorry and claimed that they were having phone issues (for 2 weeks?) and technical issues with the website. I said I was sorry too - I'm pau! If you are a plumber reading this, please know that you can open a business and if you can answer your phone, show up and do the job right, you will be an everyday real life hero... so go for it!

Hopefully they have improved over the years but my experience was very bad.

Amazing service! I had an immediate plumbing emergency, and they were the only company out of the many I called who could send someone right away. The plumber had the issue fixed within an hour and the price was very fair. I give them my highest rating! Awesome business!

I made a last minute call to Kamaaina Plumbing at 12pm. requesting if they could install my toilet that my neighbor had taken off and wasn't able to install the new 1, the wonderful receptionist took my information down and called me a few minutes later.  She informed me that they would be able to send someone over at 3pm.  the same day.  Lucky me because it was so difficult to get a same day appointment.  At 3pm. a young man named Kalani arrives.  Kalani was so pleasant and very respectful, He installed 2 toilets for us and did a FANTASTIC job.  We thanked Kalani for doing this job as a last minute notice and he said its his pleasure to help customers, he said that when someone calls he knows they really need to get it done.  He is so wonderful we will use Kamaaina Plumbing should we need other work done and we will request for KALANI.  Thank you Kamaaina Plumbing for having awesome staffing.  Give them a call.  Aloha Kuulei

Not happy at all with the service.  The receptionist talked too fast on the phone and forget to get my email address to email me the estimated quote.  Checked the estimate and it was a total rip off when it was a simple replacement seal that had to be done.  The plumber did not have a 4 way key to shut off the water.  He acted professional but he did not look professional at all.  Only want the money but the service was bad.

Frankly after reading the two reviews on this company on yelp,  I was anxious about this company coming to install the garbage disposal I purchased from Home Depot (they have the contract with Home Depot to do those installations).  I even called Home Depot to express my concern and the woman I spoke to assured me that if there were any problems, I could call Home Depot and they would make sure it was taken care of - she also said they were careful about which companies they used as problems customers experienced would also reflect on Home Depot.  I also checked the BBB Hawaii site and didn't see any complaints on record for this company and they had an A+ rating.  

Thankfully, everything went smoothly.  The plumber and helper arrived within the time frame given.  They immediately went to work and from start to finish, it took them a half hour to remove the old disposal and install the new unit.  The plumber checked to make sure the new disposal was working correctly and that there were no leaks.  I was then told that Home Depot would check back with me for my feedback about their service.

So, despite my initial trepidations, the installation went fine and I am happy with my new (and quiet) disposal.

WORST plumbing company I have ever dealt with. Do yourself a favor and do not use them. They were contracted by American Home Shield. Service was so bad, we ended up canceling our home warranty company over it. A job that should have taken a day took 2 weeks. On top of that, no one at the plumbing office could give information on the job (we were selling the house and off island), never showed up on time (or at all in a few cases). The manager was never available to speak to us. I have no idea how this company is even in business. Steer clear.

This is my first review of this company and let me tell you I'm not impressed.  No one should put their faith in a company like this.

We recently moved to a new place and a few things needed to be fixed so our realtor called them to take care of the issues.

Our first experience w/ them was our prior place we rented.  There was a day they didn't show up and another where the wrong part was brought so they had to come back another day.  This was back in 2015.  I didn't make a complaint back then.  Moving forward to 2017 and it seems like the same thing all over again.  I'm surprised they are still in business w/ the number of bad reviews.  

The first time a few weeks ago when my husband took off from work and they didn't show.  The 2nd incident was they stated they didn't have the right part(deja vu?) but instead of coming back they decided not to until now.  On Tues the 7th the plumber kept calling my phone to schedule something and instead of leaving a message he keeps calling.  I guess they automatically assume people do not work.  When I finally get to speak to him he assumed he could come over that day.  Because I was going to take off on Thurs I told him Thurs was a better day and he set the time between 12-3pm.  Well it is now Thurs and NO CALL/NO SHOW!!!  Pissed me off even more since I had to take off specifically for him to come over and I won't be getting paid from my job!  This time I made a complaint to the realtor and now on Yelp.

If I had to hire someone out of my own pocket I know for sure NOT to ever use them.

Do not recommend.  They take forever to respond and has bad reputation all together. Work that was supposed to be 2-3 weeks took about 3-4 months.  It was really disappointing.

Joe came and plumbed three separate times to get our drain to work.  He looked for the cleanout which didn't exist for our sink.  He clean up throughly around the problem and even apologized for the inevitable splashes made which he might have missed.  I am impressed and would use him again.

These guys were awesome!  Removed a mynabird from my dryer!  Service to even the most oddest jobs.  Thank you Kama'aina Plumbing!

The old adage,you get what you pay for comes to mind.
I had some non-emergency work I needed done (replacing some outgoing pipe)  and they were the lowest bid. Little did I know they didn't plan to do all the work the higher bid had agreed to do (which explains why they were cheaper).
I got the recommendation to use them through a contractor who said he would never recommend them again after the slap dash job they did. He was disappointed, and it wasn't even his house!
They did the bare minimum to get the job done, left all the pipe they changed out right there for me to deal with and just put in some PVC in its place. They charged me for a full day of work and claimed it would take a full day but then sent two guys who slapped it together in three hours meaning it came in at over $1,100, that's $300 an hour for the job! And this was not an emergency, it was at their convenience...

I called to explain that the contractor and I weren't happy with how they left everything (old pipes everywhere, not all of the pipes changed out, no test run of the system, didn't re-trench the line they built, leaving it exposed on the ground instead of partially buried like the line they were supposed to replace, etc.).  The woman working there was very nice, and agreed that the way they did the job wasn't right, but nothing happened. And they'd already charged my card for the full cost of the repair, before I confirmed I was happy with it!!!  Maybe they knew I wouldn't be happy with and didn't figure on waiting.

In short, they don't care- even when other professionals tell them it wasn't the right way to do a job.  Based on this experience, they'll do the bare minimum, and charge more for it than another company would to do a better job. If you're looking for a good affordable plumber who cares, keep looking...

I called at about 9:00 in the morning because there was a leak under the kitchen sink.  The woman (she was rude, just like the other commenters said) took my name and number and said she would call me back.  I called back at 4:30, and the girl who answered the phone, said the woman I had talked to, had gone for the day.  She would leave a note.  Well, fast forward the next day.  I hadn't heard from them by 9:00 so I called my regular plumber (Kamaaina was the subcontractor on a home renovation).  They didn't know when they could send someone out, but within a couple of hours, a plumber showed up on my doorsteps, bushy eyed and eager to work.  It took about 3 hours to change a hose, but that was because he had to search the island to look for the right hose.  Can't fault him for that.  Better to make sure you get the right part instead of going back and forth.

I called Kamaaina plumbing for a repair, and was asked to send pictures to them so they could give me a better estimate.  I didn't receive a call back after I took the pictures and sent it to them.  Ouch!

Great staff and friendly people.  Did a great job and helped make my new spot better then ever.  Will mos def call back to do work again.  thanks

I wanted a Rheem Electric Water Heater sold at Home Depot. Home Depot uses Kamaaina Plumbing to do the installations. Kamaaina Plumbing was prompt to give an estimate. The installer, Joe, took care of everything, picking up the water heater, arriving on time, removing the old one, installing the new one,  and hauling away the old one. The installation price was reasonable, and everything about the job was done efficiently. I would recommend Kamaaina Plumbing. This was my first time using Kamaaina Plumbing and happy with the results.

Kamaaina Plumbing has been one of the most professional, competent and efficient businesses I have used on the island.  This is the 1st time to use them, for the installation of 2 new toilets purchased from Home Depot.  All the way from setting the date, the installer, and follow-up with the invoice showing paid, first rate.  As I read other reviews it was as it is two different companies.  I would MOST definitely call them for other plumbing needs and their list of services is quite complete.  I could have saved money if I had picked the toilets up fom HD myself, but for a variety of reasons, it was better for me to have K.P. do that. They asked if I needed pick-up and I said, Yes, please!.

This is among the WORST PLUMBING company is KAMAAINA PLUMBING AND HOME RENOVATIONS. Other than that they make very good alibis to justify their high fees as if they did it themselves really good thought it's just simple task.
Called their office for emergency clogged up toilet and the office personnel is so rude and saying they could not attend as soon as possible since plumbers are already all out and promised to call me back in 5 minutes... never called back!!!
I called other good reputation plumbing company among the best and ask help and came right in time as requested.
DO NOT USE KAMAAINA PLUMBING for any plumbing works.

If i could have selected zero stars, i definitely would have.
This is probably the absolute worst service I've ever received, anywhere. Everyone in the office is very rude. They dont introduce themselves, they are not feiendly, and they cut you off before you can even give the information they asked you for. Its as if they weren't brought up on using manners. The plumber that was sent to my house was very unprofessional. I couldn't identify him as a Kamaaina employee by his jeans & tank top. When he replaced my water heater, he asked my boyfriend to help him carry & install it. Since it was replaced, my shower hasn't had any hot water & when he came back to look at it he said it wasn't the fault of the heater. He said to talk to my resident manager & he left. Upon talking to my resident manager, he said that the valves were installed incorrectly. When we called back to get another plumber, it took us over 2 weeks to get somebody else out and they still haven't cone yet.
Worst company to deal with. So disappointing. Management should highly consider restructuring, or ceasing business entirely.

Just purchased a water heater & got it installed by Kama'aina Plumbing.  Lisa got back to me straight-away & making an appt.  was no problem with their courteous operator!  Dan & Earl did a great job & were very informative.  Dan also answered any & all questions I had.  Very pleasant & efficient guys!  They did a great job!  Will definitely be calling Kama'aina Plumbing again when I need plumbing work!

Kamaina plumbing are exceptional and my experience with them was great.The guy who came was called Allan and I  can highly recommend him being extremely knowledgeable in the problem we had and is top notch in every way .wonderful trustworthy company.In addition their prices are very reasonable!

Don't use them! If I could give 0 stars I would. Set an appointment with them a week in advance, appointment was 9AM and no calls and nothing of them being late. Called the company at 9:15 and they said he was on his way but gave no time frame. Waited until 10AM and still no one showed up.  Called them to cancel and only them giving me excuse they couldn't find parking, which there were lots of them available prior.  And they guy tells me oh no parking we cannot do it  what a total wasted of my time waiting for them.

Stay as FAR AWAY from this company as possible. I had made an appointment in the morning for a same-day emergency hot water heater replacement, via the Home Depot website, which promises same day install if you call before noon. The appointment was set for 12-2pm, so far so good. Then at 12pm I got a call that my appointment was being cancelled, due to another customer having an emergency. Well, that's fine, but I said can we just make the appointment for later, even in the evening, anytime?? The answer was no. Clearly they were not willing to pay their plumber overtime, in order to honor the promise of same-day service. They just left me in the lurch. Don't use this company.

Home Depot need to get rid of their contract with them. KP do not response. Receptionist said she emailed me on the quote and never got anything from them. Not one email or a phone call. I was told that I'll have to submit pictures for our solar heater replacement. I did and no response until I called them.
Quote was super high. $1000 more than other quotes on the island. I ended up calling a different company and totally not buying the item from Home Depot which I was preferring to do because of their discount and warranty.

Scheduled a repair on Friday for a Saturday job, between 12 and 2:00pm. I called several times Saturday, from 1:00 to 2:00pm. The dispatchers were very helpful, and left messages with Allen, the only after hours plumber but he was unresponsive to the messages and did not return my calls.

These guys had some bad past reviews, so I was a little bit nervous. However, after having dealt with a toilet problem for over 2 months Kama'aina Plumbing was able to fix our toilet. My wife was certain we were going to have to replace it. The girls in the office were very friendly and the tech Kalani was very professional.

I would highly a these guys to family and friends.

DON'T CHOOSE THIS COMPANY!!! RIPOFF!!!
They are not very honest with their estimate and charge you with different amount.
When the lady from their company called me for scheduling the replacement of my water heater and I told her that my heater is located under the stairway but it is wide open and they should not have problem to install it.  She said that the plumber will let us know if I will get charge $150 for access fee.  However, after the plumber finished the job, they charged us $150 for access fee but did not warn us before he start the job.  I called the lady and she told me that the reason they charged us the access fee is because it located under the stairway.  After explaining to her again, she changed her story and said that they could not fully drained the heater.  Why unable to drain the heater is considered the access fee.  RIDICULOUS!!
On top of that the plumber took only about 1 hour to finish the work.  SUCH A RIPOFF!!!
Home Depot is considered to add more plumber contractors so that we don't have to go to them.  We are in the process to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

This story actually got even worse.  The verbal $500 estimate for a simple installation turned into a $2300 estimate plus tax when the written estimate finally came.  That is with me supplying the water heater.  Brain surgeons make less than that.  I will be taking my written estimate to Home Depot so that they know what is going on.  Why the difference between the verbal estimate and the written estimate?  Why $2000 an hour for a plumber?

I bought a water heater from Home Depot & was very impressed with the great service from this company. They were very professional & friendly, from the receptionist to the plumbers, especially Kalani & Daniel!  I would highly recommend them!

I have a similar experience with this company that others have had.  I went through Home Depot for a bathroom remodel.  Very pleasant person on phone made an appt. for an estimator to come out to my house, with a window between 7am-12noon.  She said someone would call the day before to give me a narrower window (i.e. 2hr).  No one called the day before.  Still hopeful, the day of the appt. I waited from 7am.  I did call the office to ask for my window.  Told the pleasant voice on the phone that no one called the day before, but would like a window.  She told me she would call me back after she talked to her manager.  End of story, no one called, and no one came.  It is now 4:00pm.  I'm assuming no one is coming.  I talked to Home Depot and filed a complaint.  If this is the type of contractor Home Depot works with for the lucrative business of bathroom remodeling, then they will surely loose potential customers.  They certainly lost me.

Worst company ever.  They Don't call back.  Don't follow up with you.  Don't submit claims to the home warranty company on time or at all.  Plumber forgets to bring a replacement toilet to the job that is to replace a toilet I can go on and on.  Stay away.  Far away.  And for u American home shield policy holders complain to ahs so they can replace this deplorable company with one that is at least tolerable.  No aloha from this company at all

Because of Kamaaina Plumbing, our 2 1/2 month frustrating ordeal to get a new toilet (3 toilets ordered from a major national chain were damaged in transit while coming from the mainland and 1 toilet from another big national chain was cracked when its container was opened) ended on a happy note.  When the first of the 5 toilet orders was placed, we contacted Kamaaina Plumbing.  Naoia was friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient as she explained the cost for delivering the toilet to our apartment, installation, and removal of the old toilet.  Then, as our ordeal began, she was  sympathetic and reassuring whenever we contacted her about another delay.  When final delivery/installation arrangements had to be made, Naoia and her colleague Kawena made sure that everything would go smoothly.  Then, the plumbing team of Dan (the lead) and his assistant Earl was superb.  They were skilled in their work, efficient, careful, neat, and very friendly.  We were extremely satisfied with their final work product.  Naoia, Kawena, Dan, and Earl are true professionals and a credit to the company.  We won't hesitate to use the services of Kamaaina Plumbing again.

Absolutely awesome service and employees, they came on time, and had my new heat pump installed in a few hours.  Super customer service thanks.

This is not related to their plumbing services.
One of their trucks backed into my car 3 weeks ago creating a $1200 damage. Kamaina Management  is not responding to my phone calls nor making any payments. Forced to go through my insurance and then have them collect payment. What a headache. So unprofessional and irresponsible.

We went to Home depot to buy a water heater and wanted to use the installation service through the store. We were told it is through Kamaaina Plumbing and that they would contact us. Food for thought their same day installation does not apply on Saturday which is okay as most places do not work on the weekend, but just be aware.  But we weren't called when the weekday came around until I had to call them.  The lady who answers the phone is extremely rude.  She sounded like she hates her job and didnt want to answer any of my questions, as a first time water heater buyer and having one that is currently leaking I honestly dont know what to do or what to expect. No prior estimates but was told it could be from 600-1000 dollars for the install, no same day, or even the next day was available.  I thought maybe I came off rude at first, so I left my number to be called back if the plumbers could come by today and told my husband to give them a call a couple of hours later. She was just as rude and short with him to the point that he didn't want to deal with their company anymore and we called a local plumber to come install the water heater instead. Going to call Home Depot Corporate and file a complaint as well,  and let them know if Kamaaina is a representation of them they should act accordingly.

Terrell went above and beyond his call of duty and helped me with my plumbing issues more than he was required to. This type of help comes in particularly handy for single moms like myself. He was very knowledgeable and I felt like he genuinely cared about the work he did at my home, which helped make me comfortable with his services.

Not impressed!  I was told to take a picture of my leaking toilet and send it to them so they would have the right part when they showed up.  They showed up and then looked at the toilet and said they don't have the part!  The plumber left the house saying he would run to the store and get one and never called me back and never came back.  A week later I received a call saying that they would have to order the part.  So they did that and set up another appointment a week later.  The day they were suppose to come, I received a call saying the the plumber was sick and couldn't make it so they would have to reschedule again!  This is a fairly large plumbing agency and they only have one guy???  Anyways, I had commited so much time to this, that I scheduled another visit a week later.  I can't believe it took a month to get them to fix my toilet!  I'll look for another plumber next time...

Purchased an electric water heater from Home Depot on December 6 2019

Contacted Kama'aina Plumming about an estimate and scheduling an installation date

Today is December 20 2019 my new electric water heater is still in its box sitting in my garage

Yea! Joe came out from Kaimaiina Plumbing, was quick, on time, professional, and able to clear the main house drain in no time. This was after first plumber didn't call us back on Friday and then Monday calls and says he doesn't have the right right truck/equipment till later in week, the second plumber came, tried to snake, and said he couldn't clear the clog because his hose wasn't long enough and was worried about a broken pipe, & said you need another plumber. We called Kaimaiina Plumbing who set up the appt right away and we got Joe who just went to it and 30 min later all was good, everything was flushing again and draining right. So happy &  as a property manager I've used a plenty of plumbers. I won't name names of the bad ones but I will praise the good ones. Kaimaaiina Plumbing I'm calling you first next time and will ask for Joe. You've got a good one with Joe at your company for sure. Mahalo!
