Kama'aina Handyman was founded by three individuals with extensive experience in different fields of construction and construction management. After trying to have handyman work done on a property, we realized consumers need a company that answers the phone and shows up. Customers should also receive great service, and so, Kama'aina Handyman was born.

Super fast service! I needed to install a mounted microwave. They responded to my quote request in less than 10 minutes even though it was after hours and we were able to set up an appointment for the next day. The tech Jovan was friendly, prompt, and communicative. They even offered haul away for my old microwave (for a fee) which I didn't need, but great to know it was a possibility. I would definitely use this company again if I need a handyman!
I hired this company because they were responsive and I needed the work done pretty quickly. The appointment was between 9 and 12. The repair person called at 8:26 and said he could not find my condo. I told him where it was and where to park. I saw his van right outside our building so expected him to be up momentarily. At 8:35, I called him to ask where he was and he said he was parking the car. Okay. He comes up, assesses the situation and says he will fill the areas (termite damage). As he is working, he finds live termites so I run out to get the termite spray. He says he feels bad sitting around while I go but will go down to his van and get a few things. I get back in 15 minutes and he continues. He does fill the areas and I check periodically to see how he is doing as he was moaning and groaning a lot. When he was done filling and sanding, I went to look and he says he is having trouble sanding the inside. I told him it was okay as it is not visible. He said okay. I then felt one area on the top and he had obviously missed it or forgotten about it and had already cleaned up the filler. I asked if he could please fill it and he sighed and said he had to mix up more filler. He did and then said he was going to paint. I was watching him on the camera so knew when he was done and went to look. The paint was way off in color and, as I looked, he said that was the only paint he had. Of course, at this point, what am I going to say since they charge by the hour and it was already painted. I said it was fine. He then asked which sink he could wash his paint brush and I told him none as it was not water based paint and gave him newspaper to wrap his brush. He said he was done and it is now 12:15, and he was going to the van do do the invoice. I asked if they can send me the invoice so I can just pay online and he said no, they collect on site. I told him it would be more convenient for customers if it was done via text or email so there is no contact payment. Nope, pay me now. He makes a few trips to take the can of paint, then the roller thing, then his tool box. Then 25 minutes later he comes with the invoice for 4.5 hours of work and materials. I asked why it was 4.5 hours and he said it is because he came at 8:30. I said you called at 8:26 and said you were lost. To me, that does not constitute arriving at the site. He entered my door at 8:45 or thereabouts. Then he was done at 12:15 so that would be 3.5 hours. He said he was done a bit after 12:30 so they round it up. Seriously? I was so over it that I paid it but reiterated about paying online. I get the email with the invoice and, guess what? It has an option to pay online? Good grief. After he left, I see painter's tape on the stove, paint all over the stove, white sanding debris inside the cabinet next to where he was working and where I have some potatoes in a bowl, the filler compound stuck all over the place and just a mess. It took me 45 minutes to clean after him. I had to move the stove to get all the paint off, for God's sake. And, the cabinet door was stuck with the compound I had to pry it open. The work was not stellar but, at this point, I was so over it. But, it really bothered me about the time (how much is mine worth to clean after a repair person???) so I called and inquired and the woman said they charge for the entire time they are at the site, meaning writing the invoice is NOT a cost of doing business but the customer PAYS for the time it takes for the guy to write it up and make 3 trips to the car to take his stuff which he brought up in 1. And, to top it off, on the invoice, he writes that he could not sand the inside and I approved it (I did after the fact because he was getting upset), and the paint did not match and I had approved it (what choice did I have since it was already done and he is telling me that is all he had and he just painted it). Paying by the hour is great if the person you hire is efficient and there is no agenda. This guy was slow and it makes me feel like they purposely tell them to work at a snail's pace to bill. And the last irritant, is the woman I called said she would talk with the guy and get back to me. 2 days later there is still silence. I waited to write this review in hopes that they would make this right but, obviously, they don't care about customer satisfaction. Some things are part of doing business. Charging for the time for the work is fine but I have NEVER paid for someone to spend 25 minutes going back and forth to the car taking one item at a time and to write an invoice which should take no more than 5 minutes. What a HUGE disappointment this was. I do not recommend this company unless you want to pay for every minute of their time whether they are doing anything or not.

Have been using Joe and company for several years and for any kind of task. Joe has been the very best in quality, reliability and ability to solve any odd task. I often ask for advice and have been offered advice that always have been proven to had the most desirable outcome. He looks out for you and your interest. But also the level of respect and friendliness is unmatched. I can trust them to my home at any time and would let them in even when I'm not home. Cannot recommend Kamaaina handyman highly enough...truly!

I had an old faucet replaced; it was leaking and rusty. Kamaaina Handyman (KH) was easy to deal with and provided a fixed price estimate via email. Tom showed up on time and efficiently installed the new faucet. He was meticulous and did a great job. Tom cleaned up the area when he left. I'm very happy with the job and will be using them again. Highly recommended.
When you call there is a nice lady who determines which professional to call in for your job. They came within 2 days to do a minor plumbing project. The man was competent but the service is a bit high in price.

First of all, the worker Jovan was about to charge me 3 hours extra, and he tells me the quote I was given, was only an estimate. He did not even check with his boss as to what time he actually came to start work.
I wasn't about to pay for 3 extra hours! So he said he will give me a discount, and I saw he took it off of his boss hourly portion. I paid with my charge card before he left, and it posted on my credit card statement the very next day. HOWEVER, I am still receiving invoices from them. I continue to tell them to check with their employee!! I paid him! I should report this company to BBB.....

I requested a price estimate through Yelp, and Gindi responded very quickly and professionally. Setting up an appointment was easy. William came over to do our fan installs and he was on time, knew what he was doing, was very friendly, and did a fantastic job! The prices were fair and the quality of work was excellent. Had to have my window air conditioner in my condo removed ASAP. Called several handyman services but only Kamaaina Handyman responded. OK first off, these guys are honest. How far does honestly go? Well.... a lot. Secondly, polite. I tried to hire 3 plumbers recently. Kama'ina handyman ALWAYS got back to me and not only that, to me, they go above and beyond in trying to help. They come on time, they are courteous, they are always in communication. They are POLITE. Again,, why....? How bad can hiring a plumber be?
Well, another plumber did shoddy work, left blaming my house, then verbally attacked me. That's how bad it can get.
Not at Kama'aina handyman. I had a problem with my shower valve. They came and replaced the parts. Unfortunately there was a small leak. After being attacked by the other plumber (not Kama'aina Handyman).... I just decided to do it myself. But after a while, I wrote Kama'aina Handyman for advice and then they offered to come and take another look as part of a QC measure. They did NOT charge me for this visit. Pohai came and was polite, courteous, pretty much everything you want. He tried and was unable to fix the leak. There were a lot of variables (I obtained the parts), there were all sorts of pieces. Anyway, he tried and unfortunately the leak was still there but not for lack of trying. He did as well as I could expect and I totally appreciate them coming back.
Here's the thing about plumbing. Water is like electricity except when water is flowing uncontrollably, it's a bummer and sometimes parts don't come out easily etc... That's why you get a plumber or handyman. Good plumbers/handymen are worth their weight in gold.
Just because a plumber is more licensed or trained or has better insurance doesn't mean they are better. Another thing, read carefully when other places have a 1 star review - often times, this is the truth.
In the end, I fixed the problem myself, because while I do know something about water and electricity, I only do it myself after hiring someone else and if it seems possible to fix. I will be hiring these guys again for more projects. I wish they would also snake drains, but you can't have everything.
These guys are good.

The 3 star is only because they dont give you an estimate! I had 2 closet doors.. bifold that didnt close properly
One that was minor.. sanding off the bottom so didnt scrape floor.. the other more work as hinge and wood trim was broken. They requested pictures and I sent them but no estimate. Tom told my husband it was time and material but never a quote!Tom did a great job.. BUT it cost $700!! I appreciated they could come within a day and not booked 3 weeks out so that was really nice!
I just would have liked to know ahead and of time to have an idea.
He was here 9 to around 1 pm at $100 an hour??
Hourly charging makes me uncomfortable.
Just give me an idea how much to expect without a SHOCKER bill payable
before they leave! Makes me nervous to use them again because I dont want to be worried how long they take etc!

Workers did an excellent job on a variety of jobs. They were also polite and explained things well. They replaced my two screen doors, fixed a faulty gate latch, patched a part of the popcorn ceiling and replaced the bathroom vent fan. Will certainly contact them again for future jobs!
I expected a friend to help me assemble a bed, but that person backed out at the last minute--two days before I expected a house guest. Kama'aina Handyman was able to send out a handyman the day after I called. Brad was friendly, personable, knowledgeable and efficient. He assembled the bed in under an hour, and that was with the two of us chatting. He also assured me that I had bought a nice, sturdy bed. Five stars for the service, but only four for value, because the service was inordinately expensive for the task.
We needed some help with projects around the house, and I happened to see the KH van in the neighborhood. I called for an estimate and started a relationship with them. They are responsive and good at what they do. If you've been looking for a handyman, just call them. They will get it right and complete the job. We have had multiple projects completed and we are already starting a new list.
Super resourceful and knowledgeable. We had a VARIETY of minor issues around the house that we asked him to check out and got most of it taken care of, as well as great advice on more thorough next steps for the things that were a bit much for a 1-hour appointment. We will definitely be calling him back for our bigger projects soon.
Our toilet would occasionally leak, sometimes months pass between events. Each time was a small pool of clear water that I'd wipe up, check everything for leaks and then keep an eye on.
Pohai diagnosed it as loose (barely so) and replaced the wax ring. Now I'll just keep an eye on it for months. Hopefully to no effect.
Kama'aina Handyman was professional, communicative, prompt & tidy. I recommend them and will use again. Mahalo!

I totally agree with Bill R. Is price a consideration? If so, I would not recommend Kamaaina Handyman.
I was charged $63.03 for tile adhesive. The adhesive I purchased was not the right kind so he went to buy the adhesive, which took him an hour (I live right up the street from Home Depot, PC). It came out to $14.77 PER tile for gluing back my existing 22 wall tiles, or $324.83 total.
Especially to mature homeowners:
Be discerning with the term handyman, so you can distinguish the kind of person you need. Get an estimate by the job rather than by the hour. The hourly charge can be very reasonable, i.e., $125, but the use of time, and materials purchased on your time, is not within your control, and neither is the final charge. In other words, if the job is too open-ended, the deal is effectively closed.
When I inquired about lowering their price, I was told that I would get a call back on 1/29 or 1/30, and never heard back from them since.
However, I would anticipate a response to this review. If so, I stand by my Yelp credentials for over 8 years. A 1-star is an extreme rarity in my history.

I've used Kama'aina Handyman 3 times now and have been 100% satisfied with their work each time. I highly recommend them for any job around your home - they are quick, economical, and do quality work. On a recent visit, I had a long list of overdue repairs which I was sure would be a costly half day's worth of work. But Joe took care of the entire list quickly, and I was happily surprised by the reasonable rate! He even fixed a leaky bathroom sink that I'm sure a plumber would've charged the the same amount to repair as Kama'aina Handyman charged to do EVERYTHING!!
Light sensor for outdoor light fixture needed to be replaced. Contacted Kama'aina Handyman and received a response and quote in a timely fashion. The job was done professionally and efficiently. I'm impressed with the quality of work, service and response.
Nora always kept in contact with us about our appointment and was very friendly. She called to say the work could be done at an earlier time than scheduled if we preferred, which we appreciated. Jovan was very meticulous patching 3 holes in the walls, adding texture and paint. He was very friendly and we were happy with the results.
Kamaaina Handyman is the only place I go for repair services for my home. Joe does great work and is very skillful in what he does. Good price, reliable, and prompt response always.
Brad hung pictures in drywall and concrete. Prepared, efficient, good eye, and very cordial. Highly recommend.
Pohai picked up an 18k BTU beast of an AC from ADMOR and brought it to the job site. Because it is a rental to save time, I insisted that he use the old housing as changing it out was more effort than worth. It was done in way under an hour. Happy owners, happy tenant, happy property manager...Awesome !!

Horrible communication. I mean just atrocious. I can highly recommend that you should not waste your time trying to engage with this outfit. We wasted maybe a year trying to work with them to do a job. We were lied to and then ignored. Zero aloha.

Originally, I needed assistance in setting up wiring for a ceiling fan install and due to some complications with my old home, the first handyman couldn't finish the job. Joe came in and quickly fixed the problem and did a great job. Will be asking them to do another home project for me soon!

Updating my previous review - the first handyman appointment - Ivan was not able to get my 2nd screen door installed due to lack of time, but I spoke to Joe and he offered to come by and see if he could install it the next day. He came by and after measuring the frame and door - saw that my door was an irregular size and said I should get a custom door made to fit properly and this would look the best. He took measurements and will be coming by once the door is ready to install. Very pleased with Joe's response to my issue and for his customer service. He took ownership of the scheduling issue and made things right as quickly as he could. I would recommend this company and use again.
Everything goes smoothly from response to scheduling an appointment to showing up on time. Joseph's work is nice and neat!

So let me preface this with I can't comment on their work as ultimately I didn't use them for reasons I had no control over hence not comfortable giving them five stars but I will say I called them on the weekend and they had somebody over the next day. Person was professional, projected an air of confidence, and the price was reasonable. Would have used them had I had the option but sadly didn't. Would call again and use if I ever got the chance though unlike the other two places I called.
Joseph was awesome ! Super friendly and professional. He was able to quickly figure out why my tub spout was leaking and solve the issue. I highly recommend these guys and will be go to for small home projects !

Joe is very fast called him to request a consultation he came down the very next morning. Had a few things for him to do he came in super friendly and helpful even offered to change my lightbulbs in the patio totally went the extra mile. In the two hours he was over he got so much done and then some. So glad I was referred to him were definitely going to use him for everything I highly recommend him to anyone in need of a handy man he even hauled away the mess at no extra charge. Wish I knew about him sooner so many random projects in my house to address, can't wait to start knocking them out!

Fantastic service. Highly recommend. I had a few large pictures hung, a sink fixed and everything was done perfectly. It was easy to schedule and arrange, all staff super friendly. Will definitely use again for any handyman work needed to be done around the house.
I had to have some floor tiles in my living room that were loose and popping up off the floor, removed and reset. I wanted to reuse the old tiles as these tiles are over 30 years old and are no longer being made.
I went on yelp to find anyone who would do this job, but the handymen/flooring contractors who responded recommended not reusing the old tiles as it would be humbug and time consuming to remove without cracking. One person who did respond came and took a look and quoted me quite a lot to do the job. I felt I that had no recourse so I decided to go with him. However, (and fortunately, as it turns out), after he gave me the initial estimate, he never got back to me again.
Thus, I went back on yelp and contacted Kama'aina Handyman. I think the only misgiving I had about them is that they asked me to send a picture instead of sending someone in person. My thought at that time was What if they give me a quote based on the pictures, and then when they actually come and look at the job, decide that it is more extensive than the picture indicates? I needn't have worried though because the job was completed in less time than they had quoted and for less cost, too! Jovan, the handyman was efficient, professional, and a very nice guy. He worked carefully and meticulously and was able to take off about 23 loose tiles and with only two that cracked which were still able to be reused.
I also appreciate the fact that they always respond right away and are polite and professional. I will definitely use them again.
I needed an over-the-range microwave installed that required the existing cabinets be modified to accept the appliance. Kama'aina Handyman answered the call and delivered as promised and at a reasonable price. Mahalo!

This is the second time we have used them. The first time they installed a new water heater. Their price was far lower than anyone else we called. They installed a 50 Gal. well-known brand water heater and the service was excellent!

Needed some work on the side of my house because the vinyl siding up on the second story was coming looses. Needed a 20 foot ladder to reach it so I called them. It was secured quick and fast. Very professional and was on time.
I highly recommend. Joe did multiple little projects in my condo in my condo in 1 hour flat. He was so efficient. I really wish I had used his company sooner as it would have saved me a lot of heartache throughout the time of having my condo.

Did a great job repairing our garbage disposal. Wasn't sure if it was the disposal or the electrical so didn't know who to call - a Plumber or an electrician? So went with Kama'aina Handyman and they fixed it right away. Spoiler alert: it was the electrical. Mahalo!

Kama'aina Handyman just completed a job where they replaced hinges on an old door. The door looks like new. We have used them to install an air conditioner, fix wood rot in a window sill, install new doors, make new screens and more. Great service, very responsive and high quality work.
Those damn Myna birds poked a hole through the frieze block in the roof. So I could hear birds making a nest while trying to watch tv. Agh...
So the problem is the roof eave is about 18' above the ground. Other issues came to mind while finding a electrician, then a handyman with electrical expertise came to mind as a better choice.
After I called, I texted pictures and got a quote the same day. I set up a time and day and they were on time and notified by text they were on their way.
Every issue was discussed and explained with possible options. Their communication was great and I knew what I was getting before the job was done. So by the time they showed me the finished job I was perfectly good with it, no issues.
The work was done and the bill came out less than what I expected, since electrical investigation is by the hour, so I keep my budget on the conservative side. So I was pleased with the job and service. I would use them again.
We have a 93 year old house with 4 projects we needed taken care of. 1) Our front porch has original 9 pane sliding windows that were not sliding. 2) Our screen door wasn't closing, 3) Our front porch floors also had lots of termite damage. 4) A large section of wood above our fireplace had noticeable water damage.
Joe carefully listened to our needs and had Martin come out to help us. Very meticulously, Martin worked on the projects, tackling one each day. Within 3 days, all the projects were completed. They look great and we wonder why we waited so long!
I sent out a yelp request for an electrician late at night and Joe promptly responded the very next morning. He was able to come the same day and fix my kitchen light which had been flickering on and off for sometime. Not only was he able to explain what my contractor had done wrong during the remodel, but he was able to fix it in an hour! Thank you so much for a wonderful experience. I'd recommend this company to anybody looking for an honest and efficient handyman.
As Bill R said, my problem with this company is the misleading estimate they provided, and what I paid was significantly more than what they estimated.
When I tell you that I need an outside lock cut with bolt cutters, don't charge me for the broken drill bit you used because you didn't have bolt cutters. Don't charge me for a paint roller and pan when the numerous bolt holes that needed filling in and paint were no larger than the tip of your pinky. If there's a disposal charge for the engine oil ($100) don't you think it would be a good idea to state that in the estimate?
I really dislike down checking local business, and the overwhelming majority of my Yelp reviews are 5 stars. But I wouldn't use this company again.

Me and my Dad were having trouble mounting our microwave. They came within 3 hours of reaching and got the job done for a fair price, and they were very professional throughout. Would definitely use again.

Pohai did an awesome job fixing our broken bathroom faucets in a timely and professional manner. I had contacted Kama'aina Handyman via Yelp, sent pictures of the job that I needed done, and within minutes I heard back from the owner acknowledging that they would be able to do the repair and that they covered our area. They scheduled me for a Sunday appointment time which fit perfectly with our schedule and they sent a really nice and helpful technician to complete the job. Surprised at the final cost of a small project.
I blame myself as a consumer for not asking for more details on the labor costs involved with my quote for repair of a simple drywall replacement.
I got a quote from Kama'aina Handy Man to fix four drywall cutouts in my condo walls. I was quoted about $350 in materials and 20-24 hours in labor.
Also in the quote is mentioned they can patch the wall by using the existing material the cost then would be $125 plus 8-12 hours of labor. But, the added that using the existing material might not look quite right or words to that effect . I chose the $350 quote on scheduling figuring the cost of labor could not be outrageous and ... at that point this consumer should have asked how much they charged for hourly labor.!
When the company arrived to do the work. They brought two men. The men looked at the drywall repair and said they can do the work easily by using the existing drywall and that it will save me money. That sounded good to me.
This was really a small job four sections of drywall cut out perfectly. And needed to be fit back in place beveled, sanded and textured with simple spray can. I was amazed there were two men to take care of such a small project. I was thinking one of the men must have been training like an apprentice handyman... not knowing I was going to be charged full hourly labor of two men.
The cost was amazingly high to me.. they asked for payment at the end of their first day. I gave them a check for $1,041.61 thinking this is for the entire job. They came back the next day that allowed the drywall mud to dry... and applied the texture with cans again there were two men to simply touch up the spots and apply the texture. They spent a few hours doing that slowly... as they are leaving they asked for another check for the time they spent and wanted another $424.08.
I was baffled by the final cost of this small job.
$1465.69 total.
As an elderly man on fixed income you can imagine my shock at the final cost.
But, this is my fault as a consumer!
Consumer beware. Check total costs, how many workers are needed? What is the material needed for the job? Can the job be paid at the end of the task and not each day needing to write a separate check?
I am sure the company will write and say: Sorry for the misunderstanding in our labor costs and all kinds of nice things about the highly skilled workers But :

I was suffering from an broken air conditioner for a couple days so i decided to call a few air condition specialists and they both said it would be several days before they could get to us. Decided to call Kama'aina Handyman to see if I could get Someone ASAP and they surely didn't disappoint. They got the job done that day at a reasonable price and with craftsmanship. I condone this company for (most importantly promptness), fair charges, friendliness and their quality of work. Definitely satisfied, where in this trade, a lot of companies try to rip the customers off. They definitely practice what they preach.
The valve to the toilet at my new place had a slow drip. Overnight the drip turned into a constant flow, and flooded the floor. Reached out to Kama'aina Handyman, and they got Pohai and his coworker out within 45 minutes. They assessed the work needed and got to work. I think it took them about an hour and half or so to repair and replace the valve and end the leak! They were both super polite and professional. Would definitely recommend Pohai and the Kama'aina Handyman!

I have to agree with everyone one else, Kama'aina Handyman deserves a 5-Star review! Joseph is personable, works quickly, cleans up after he is done, and at a $100 per hour, plus supplies a fair price.
I like that he can do plumbing, electrical and carpentry so for us it was a one stop shop which enable use to maximize per hour costs. Unlike other vendors who charge by the hour Joseph works quickly so you don't feel like you just got taken advantage of but are not quite sure... I hate that feeling.
Tips:
If you already know what you will need for your repair jobs or want installed have it ready for him so you can save time and material mark ups costs.
We will be using Kama'aina Handyman again and so should you!

What I appreciated about Kamaaina Handyman is that they would give you a price for each job you need them to do. Our handyman had some difficulty with our toilet and took some time to install it but I didn't have to worry about it. He put up smoke detectors with no problem. He was pleasant and would recommend Pohai.
Easily a review. I called. They quickly came over. They were friendly. Did a great job. Problems solved. Cleaned up the mess. Charged a very fair price and everyone was happy. If only all service calls went this smoothly. Mahalo.

Very friendly staff. However, service (patio door and window repair) is on the expensive side. In one instant, damaged the deck despite repeated warning to put padding when working on the door.
Comparable quality of service as to other handyman used that are much cheaper. Inefficient scheduling and also poor handoff communication when the work requires multiple days and different staffing members. For example, had a hard time scheduling follow-up service when first day's work was left partially unfinished. Also, what was purchased and what work was done was not communicated between the technicians from different days. Quite a bit of paid time spent on inter-technician debate and coordination. Some techs simply stand around observing the other techs or make phone calls after tasks are finished for extended periods of time, despite plenty of cleanup that needs to be done (minimal cleanup after job is finished unless instructed to do so).
Overall a plus in terms of the personalities of the technicians, but could use better high-level management.

We had been thinking of taking on a home project that seemed relatively simple, but required, among other things, a very tall ladder and no fear of heights. We'd thought about hiring a handyman service in the past, but were reluctant because of the reputation that some of these services have for shoddy workmanship and poor reliability. But we took the chance and reached out to Kama'aina Handyman via Yelp and were very happy with their service. Not only did they respond immediately to our request for a quote, they answered all of our questions and made some suggestions on how costs might be kept down. When we agreed on a day and time, they communicated frequently all the way up to Pohai showing up right on time. Pohai came ready to work and completed everything we asked in a timely fashion. But what really set them apart was when we had an issue, not of their making, that same day. We needed to make some changes, again not because of anything they did, but because we had a change of heart, but we needed the changes done right away. I called the office and spoke to the owner who was very understanding, put me on hold for a minute and came back on to tell me that despite it being Pohai's day off, he would return first thing the next morning to get the additional work done. This he did, coming to the house even earlier the second day, and without question or complaint, finished up the work. Not only will we call Kama'aina Handyman back to do any of this type of work again, we enthusiastically recommend them to anyone needing projects done around the house. Called for handyman services to install two ac units into our wall. The company was very responsive during our initial call and was able to answer our questions. Brad Weaks came to our house to complete the service. He arrived promptly and ready to work. I knew that he would need to cut into our wall, so I covered and moved some furniture so the area wouldn't get dirty. I was very impressed not only with the quality of the job, but also with the care that he cleaned up afterwards. I did not see any dust leftover from the drywall, and he also vacuumed the dust balls that were hiding behind the furniture that I moved . After extensive review of multiple handyman services, we settled upon Kama'aina Handyman. Nora in the office was extremely responsive and Joseph and his crew were quick, efficient and friendly. We has some minor issues with the final job and Joseph quickly responded and took care of it to our satisfaction. We would definitely recommend Kama'aina Handyman to any of our friends. I did a project request on Yelp and of the 5 companies selected, Kama'aina Handyman replied back within 5 minutes. While the others slowly replied, I found that Kama'aina Handyman has the most reasonable quote. I was pleasantly surprised with the quick reply, especially since I sent out the request on a Saturday morning. I was even more surprised that we are able to confirm a day and time the very next day, a Sunday...and it was Labor Day weekend! Sunday morning came and Joe arrived within the timeframe given. Joe was able to remove my old AC (and disposed it for me, too!) and reinstall a new one. I originally thought it was a window AC, but it really was a wall AC. Fortunately, the new AC fit perfect and Joe was able to install the new one. Mahalo, Joe!

Replaced kitchen faucet, 2 angle stops (toilet shut-off valve), and toilet fill valve. Anyone who's done this kind of work before (I have) knows how hard it is to get the old stuff off. That's 80% of the job. My stuff (except the fill valve) was 25 years old, frozen in place. Beat everyone in price (5 bids), friendly staff, and got the job done in the estimated time. Mask and social distance, like everyone else. I did 3 of the 5 toilets myself, and saved the most difficult ones for them to handle. Saved my back! Worth it.

I called and made an appointment for an estimate .... Joe arrived on time. Joe said the estimate would be emailed the next day ... it arrived that afternoon. I called, discussed and agreed on the estimate. An appointment to complete the work was scheduled. The two guy arrived ....on time. We did a walk thru to confirm the scope of work. I was surprised at the quick response. It was a Sunday and they were able to come fix my sink right away. I wish I remembered the guys name but he fixed my sink in like 15mins. The guy fixed two leaking bathroom sinks and it cost hundreds of dollars less than what others quoted. They deserve more than 5 stars. Excellent pricing, excellent service, and probably my best experience of any business I did with in yelp.

I was very happy with Kama'aina Handyman. They came in to install a ceiling fan & light where there was no previous one in my mother's home. They were efficient, friendly and timely. They followed instructions and worked directly with me not being there, especially being sensitive to my mother's needs. All finances were worked out by me and they were asked not to discuss money with my mother. They did exactly that. Great job!

I have used Kama'aina Handyman on multiple projects. They are always quick to respond, reasonable pricing and their work is always great. Gindi is amazing, always on top of things.
This was the second time we had Tim O'Malley help us. The first time was just to show us how to take the door off our refrigerator so we could move it out of the way to get another appliance into a narrow galley-style kitchen. The appliance delivery men did not know how to do it. Tim knew how and also gave us helpful hints for the new refrigerator.
Today, he came to install a new ceiling fan. He is a great worker, friendly, and liked our cats! We have always been pleased with the Kama`aina Handyman workers.
I was struggling with replacing a toilet seat with a total washet. I called mid morning and the handyman showed up that afternoon. He was quick and efficient. I was only charged for one hour.
Kama'aina Handyman was responsive, accommodating and seems to be well run. I think I communicated with 3 members of their team and they all seemed to be well-informed of the details of the project. Very clear communication, organized and very easy to work with.
I hired them to do some plumbing work for my elderly parents at their home. Joe was kind and patient and went above and beyond to get the job done. Worked diligently and quickly.

What convinced us to add Kama'aina Handyman to our Go-To List is their total approach to a project. We asked that they repair damage to the wainscot and baseboard in our bathroom. They not only replaced both, they also replaced the quarter round and stained it to match the wood flooring. The paint was an almost perfect match (interior paint is 16 years old) and blended so well, if you didn't know where the damage was, you wouldn't know it had been replaced. The same to the hole in the wall on our stairway landing.
What was there not to like! Thank you for the superb workmanship.

We called Joe to replace our kitchen faucet. He came out and evaluated the job and told us what we needed - we didn't realize the replacement unit didn't include valves so he went to City Mill and picked them up. He installed the faucet which was a little tricky due to the limited space under the counter. We were so pleased with his work we called him a few days later to repair the moulding around our front door. He was professional, very easy to work with, and flexible.

Our garbage disposal gave out the other night. Went on Yelp the next morning, got a few quotes and these guys responded quickly and was helpful answering my questions. They were able to come the same day. I wasn't able to get a new garbage disposal so they were able to get one for me (additional charge of course) which was convenient. They removed the old one and installed the new one with proper safety measures which Pohai noted were not present in the old disposal. He was also able to re-pipe the dishwasher drainage connection. Killed 2 birds with one stone. Good quality work. Only complaint is they came at the end of the time they quoted me so was a little inconvenient but it still worked out.
I called because I couldn't get the water heater working. Joe came over the same day and was able to quickly get the heater working. It was amazing. His fix is something I didn't think of and it was easy (for him) hahah. I will call again. and the price was reasonable. Everyone treated me nicely.

My son has just purchased his first home, so Handyman came out to a few jobs around the condo. Ceiling fans went up without a hitch. Patio sliding door moves so effortlessly now. Hanging a 75inch TV on a cement wall looks fabulous. I really feel like they treated our home as if it was there. From the initial consult to the completion of the job, they were professional and had we can do this approach.

I can tell Joe really cares about the quality of Kama'aina Handyman's work. He personally reviews the scope of the project and discussed several options with me. He also pointed out pros & cons for each choice. Kama'aina Handyman has done several major repairs for me. They are responsive and experienced. Honestly this is the 1st Handyman service I can trust. I even recommended them to my condo association because of their fair pricing, responsiveness and quality.
This week, Joe & William did excellent work on replacing lanai sliding glass door's roller assembly in less than 20 minutes, and my 40-year-old door glides with no friction!
Last month, William did the wonderful job for resurfacing, cleaning, repainting (old beat up, dinged up, scratched, stained, faded, & nasty looking) entry door, replaced all door accessories including the door lock! Main entry door looks so bright, clean, new looking, and its opening & closing are much smoother than before! He also did great job of many handy works for me too!
People (office & on site) are very responsive, kind, and easy to deal with, also handymen are so conscientious and proficient, and everything was done within estimated timeframe and cost!

Shows up on time!!! Making an appointment is very easy and fast. Brad ( William ) did awesome jobs fixing the toilet, replacing the wax ring and bolt. Worked quickly in getting the job done. He also make sure that the area is cleaned before he completed his work. I would highly recommend using this company.
These guys were fast, friendly, responsive, and went above and beyond! There was a little glitch with our initial meeting date and time, and the owner personally called me to make it right. He was honest, explained the situation, and rescheduled for the following day. When there, he was able to get both windows safe and functioning, and also fixed a valance on the wood blinds just because he was awesome. Will definitely use again!
I would give six stars to the Kama'aina Handyman if I could. Joe is professional, reliable and, most importantly, does phenomenal work! The price to repair my sink was the most competitive around and Joe completed the installation on a Sunday (the very next day after I first contacted him). What is most refreshing is that Joe went out of his way to teach me as he worked so I could perform the repairs myself next time. I will definitely steer future work to this company and cannot recommend them too highly.

Very good to respond to your request, but terrible estimates!! Never even came out to my house to LOOK at the job and based their prices on a video I sent to them. Two other LICENSED Handyman contractors came out to SEE IT IN PERSON & both quoted me about $1275+ LESS than Kama'aina handyman. Kama'aina told me it would cost me between $3500-$4500 to replace the ceiling and a rotten window frame in a bathroom the size of 10' x 5'.... WTH!! That's a RIPOFF for a space/bathroom that size!! PLEASE make sure to look elsewhere to get estimates and nix these guys! Would have given NEGATIVE -1, but only gave them 2 stars based on their response time. SAD, SAD, SAD...
When it comes to rating service for any business, I always consider CUSTOMER SERVICE as my biggest factor.
I was on a hunt for an electrician to help me with some GFCI outlets in my townhome since they have been tripping. The owner responded to my request very quickly (within minutes after my request), answered all my questions regarding my issues, and even was nice enough to give an estimate ala cart for all my electrical issues.
I am definitely considering Kama'aina Handyman for all my electrical needs!

Created a job bid on yelp and received a response from joe within 2 hours. He was patient with my questions and provided several resolutions. He understood the urgency to work within my timeline and delivered as promised.
I worked with three professionals throughout different phases of the project and every single one of them was knowledgeable and amazing! I would absolutely return for future business.
What a relief to have such a talented handiman, Jovan, come to help me with a variety of tasks that have been piling up for months. Jovan was able to tighten a screw on my freezer that had come loose enough so the door didn't close properly. It was a great fix as I'd expected I needed a new gasket! He drilled a hole in my house skirting to redirect a dryer vent. He also repaired some torn wooden window screens, removed a stuck toilet seat bolt, caulked the toilet, hung some new blinds, replaced a broken light switch -- all sorts of random tasks. He worked quickly, efficiently, and did it all with ease and care. The price seems very reasonable for the variety of skills required and tasks completed and it was just a treat to have help to do these things all at once and done better than I could on my own. I kept putting them all off and had a learning curve for a few. If you need help from a skilled handiman, I found this service and person to be exactly what I looked for.
I was especially grateful that he arrived wearing a mask and kept it on the entire time. Thanks, Jovan!
Pretty disappointing..
I heard nothing but good stuff until I seen them in action and also received a quote for work to be done. From what I seen was slow and inexperienced workers with no sense of urgency. One worker was moping around doing small remedial tasks instead of taking care of the priorities first. The other who was supposed to be the other guys supervisor was barely around and also took for ever to do one task. When we inquired to have work done on another building, we received a quote that was more than double the cost of the first 2 buildings. Not to mention, I haven't seen any of their employees on site for the last few days while their is a deadline to finish work.
Completely unprofessional, inexperienced with no sense of urgency.

I wasted time with their response as they had a 4 hour minimum charge which they didn't advertise.
Pohai and Derek came by to look at my sliding-mirror closet doors. The doors are old and hard to move. I was initially hoping for a repair versus complete replacement. I received a text saying they were in route. They arrived 20-30 minutes after. They removed the sliding doors on the track and offered a quick fix for a temporary solution or to do an estimate for a complete replacement. I decided to go with the replacement, so Pohai took measurements and said they'd get back to me with a quote. While they were here, I also had them take a look at my lanai screen doors for an opinion on what to do. The estimate was free, and I hope to work with them in the future to complete the repair.

I wish I could give Kama'aina Handyman 20 stars! First off, during this time of uncertainty, they were prompt, efficient, and so patient and kind. I originally emailed about a list of projects and Tiarre (sorry if I misspelled her name) immediately called me back. She is a gem and really easy to work with and took her time to really understand my needs. Literally the next day Joe was at my place going over the list and taking pictures to provide the most accurate quote. They worked around my remodel and work schedules. As it started getting closer to my move in date, my list of projects I needed help with grew and they happily accommodated my needs. Also on the flip side, when I experienced some delays that took away some jobs, they were very flexible. I felt that their prices were extremely reasonable for the quality of work done, and the level of skill of the team. I will most definitely use this company again, and I HIGHLY recommend you do the same! Thank you Joe, Martin, and the rest of the team!!! Our Hot Water Heater leaked over the weekend. Kama'aina Handyman was able to work with me to get it scheduled for removal and replacement. They arrived promptly at the scheduled time. Not only did Kama'aina Handyman do a superb and timely job with a dishwasher installation, but they cleaned out the demo'd cabinets, and then came back later for free to check on the installation and make sure everything was running smoothly. I highly recommend Kama'aina for their technical skills as well as customer service.
I'm really disappointed with the quality of work. They quoted me to install 2 doors and ended up only installing 1 door for the same quoted price.
Joseph did come out and adjusted the lock, because the door wouldn't stay shut. He adjust the lock and changed the operation of the key way. We agreed to a credit refund and still haven't gotten it.
Our kitchen faucet was leaking so I reached out to have a new faucet installed. Pohai was the handyman that did the installation and was on time, very courteous and professional, and most importantly he was fast. After he installed the faucet he checked for leaks before cleaning up and departing. I would recommend using them - one great benefit is that they do work on both Sat and Sun. I have a few more jobs that I plan to have them work on in the near future.
Thanks Kama'aina for getting the job done promptly! I had issues with a leaking toilet, broken dishwasher and disposal and they were able to fix everything in just under an hour! Very experienced and friendly. Mahalos

Hired Kama'aina Handyman to fix my dryer duct. The owner, Gindi, was very responsive and I was able to book an appointment ASAP. Kitchen faucet sprung a pinhole leak and needed replacing. Pohai from Kama'aina Handyman was a great technician who was very efficient and friendly. Answered any questions I had and was able to pick up the replacement parts for me. Installation ended up needing extension hoses which he quickly procured and installed.
Kama'aina Handyman also quickly responds via text if they are not able to get to the phone to setup an appointment. Prepare some photos and video along with basic information to setup an appointment. They saw me within two days.

I requested a quote through yelp searching for a plumber to install my plumbing fixtures for my new sink. I couldn't believe how young Jovan was but he was very knowledgeable on getting the job done right. It was a bonus when Joseph showed up in which reflected great teamwork. It would have been better if I knew about the $50 take away fee. A take away fee is common, it just wasn't mentioned in the estimate.

I had several projects like installing a new shower head, a Toto washlet and hanging some things on the wall that needed to be secure. He was friendly, fast, had a mask. He was really in and out. Very good work!!!! Will be using again soon when I move out of my current home to a new home. Can't wait.

Hired them to install AC wall unit at office. Installer Pohai came by and trained an new employee. They both did a Great job explaining what they were going to do and estimate how much it will cost. This is the second job using this company and it was worth it.
So, it seems like Joe was the go to guy for this company a lot, since so many other reviews on here has him as their handyman. I can only say his reputation is warrented.
I don't write reviews immediately upon work in case of a company in case of a surface job, so these events happened a few weeks ago. My house needed a fix on our door, it's hinges were warped, and the jam was damaged pretty heavily, when Joe came out here we asked him if he was able to redo the door, while he said he could, he mentioned some alternatives to us that would save some costs, and those were acceptable, the alternatives showed his expertise in the area, it was essentially replacing the portion of the jam, and redoing the hinges. The work after holds up very well, the paint over it was very well done, and I cannot see a seam at all, the hinges work great now, and the worse thing about the door is the door itself with it showing some age as it was here for a few years already. When he was doing his job, he didn't dally, and was focused.
In other words for Joe at least from this company, his work ethic and words are trustworthy, and that to me is worth a lot.
They're good at responding, however to paint one or two walls is NOT their thing !! I've patched myself and wanted painted , they said 2 hours to sand 2 small spots and clean up .... they won't paint them but will recommend??
Never mind!! Find someone who can sand and paint !
We were specifically referred to Joe to cut CMU for a new doorway. From the first text exchange with Gindi, we immediately knew everyone involved was knowledgeable and communicated clearly. I was especially impressed with the automated reminder text and another text when Joe was on his way. The balance wound up being 50% of the original quote! Brad Weaks, was the best handyman I've used on the island. Fast, smart, reliable, fair price and even fun. Highly recommend him (request by name). He fixed our broken shower diverter and found the right missing parts for us. Two thumbs up.
After using Yelp's Service Request feature, Kama'aina Handyman was one of the first to respond. They were not the cheapest quote, but I believe in the saying You get what you paid for. So after going through 5 different companies through Yelp, Kama'aina Handyman had the best reviews. I made a good choice! They were quick to respond during our conversations on Yelp and they were able to schedule service within a week. I had them replace a sink faucet and a bathtub handle and faucet. I ended up buying the wrong hardware for the bathtub, so Joseph was able to get the parts we needed from his contacts. He had to leave my house to get the parts and he was quick about it. I'm now working on scheduling a second visit to do a few more things around the house.
Highly recommend Kama'aina Handyman. We needed handyman services for some pretty bad damage to our window ledges and many window screens replaced. Although we got lower quotes from other places, we ultimately went with Kama'aina Handyman because they are licensed, insured, and provide warranty for their work. We knew that we could trust them to do honest and good quality work. We really didn't want to work with anyone who might try to be shady/dishonest.
First of all, the person we spoke to on the phone initially to get a quote was super friendly and was very thorough in discussing the estimate. And super helpful in answering all our questions leading up to getting our work done.
We had Pohai and Wayne come to our house and they were very professional, transparent, great at communicating, and you could tell they knew what they're doing. Our total actually ended up being less than what we were quoted, so that was a really nice surprise. The end result was absolutely amazing and we had no regrets working with them.
If you are in need of handyman services and want the peace of mind knowing that you are getting honest and great quality work done, I would definitely recommend working with them!

John came over and helped us fix an electrical issue we had in our home. Conversation was great and he also taught us a little about electricity as he was working. Definitely recommend Kama'aina Handyman!
There was no power to the master bedroom. I checked the electrical panel and all switches seem to be on. Joseph messaged me and explained that sometimes the switches get stuck somewhere near the middle and doesn't completely go into on position. He told me to flip it back and forth and sometimes it will go completely go to on position. I tried it and it worked. Thank you Joseph! I appreciate your expertise!

Whoa. These guys are fantastic! Our fridge water dispenser and ice maker had never worked and we weren't sure if it was the water line, filter, fridge, etc. I called Joe, who was super pleasant over the phone, and he came over (on his day off!) to give an estimate within a mere hour or two.
I figured he would just look at the water valve and take notes and murmur mmhm a lot and then quote me a frightening figure. Instead he grabbed a wrench and sat down and started troubleshooting the water line, figured out water was flowing, then moved on to the filter and the fridge itself. He had it working within 5 minutes! He then gave us tips on how to install the next filter and where to buy it, and offered their services if we'd prefer. We were totally amazed and appreciative. Definitely use these guys! Wish we had called them months ago.

Very professional! I had a unique installation for my AC unit and they were able to get it done within an hour or so. They were quick to respond to my messages when I made the appointment, they were able to help me out with everything, and even cleaned up after themselves after the job was done. Good pricing as well. I now have a new go-to handyman service for my house.
Just want to say how great this company was. After being gouged by a different company for an ESTIMATE and being quoted an unreasonable price for future repair, we decided to try to give Kamaaina Handyman a call. We are so glad we did. Last year I was visiting a friend and we needed some help with several electrical and plumbing issues. A few basic handyman things arose as well. They were so prompt, the estimate very reasonable and after the work was complete my friend was so pleased! She'll hire again! I will hire them too if they pop over to the mainland, they do a great job.
Highly recommend! This company was responsive, reliable and efficient. Joe showed up at the time promised, happily wore his mask when I requested, and was professional and clearly knowledgeable.
I did not end up needing a new part as expected, and he was able to keep my cost under the quoted estimate.

I appreciate that so much! I believe her name was jindy? Jandy? I'm so sorry for probably butchering that but you're a sweetheart! As for our actual repair man -Brad- he was extremely patient, straight to the point, professional and so kind. He made the framing of our ac's look like they were built into the wall it looks so nice now!!!! He really did a diligent job ensuring all our needs were taken care of. Superb employee you guys have! Awesome handymen! Thanks to them we got saved from a possible house fire as they found some wiring that was starting to scorch and had shorted our living room electricity. They also did an incredible job with installing a new bottom area for our cabinet and dishwashing disposal, the cabinet is sturdy and very well done!! Joseph came and replaced our bathroom fan. He took safety measures and wore a mask because of the covid issue going on. He was organized and neat. He did not waste any time and got straight to work. He quoted the job usually takes maybe 1.5/2 hours. He finished in about 40 mins lol. I was more than pleased with the finish product. Will definitely recommend them.
We had a problem with our balcony leaking. The gal that answered the phone was very personable and professional. They came within a couple of days and Joseph evaluated the damage. Joseph was very nice and friendly, and at the same time was quick and efficient and didn't try to stall the process or sell us on anything we didn't need. Perfect type of handyman. He easily found the cause and arranged to have one of his guys fix the problem. We will definitely be using them for all of our future handyman needs!!!

Jovan and his apprentice arrived on time to install 2-24 gran bars along the linoleum walls of my bath tub. Jovan understood that I am wheel chair bound and he made sure I could reach the bars to lift myself to bath etc. the bars were securely installed and calked etc. then he did a great job cleaning up afterwords. When I mentioned my screen door was broken Jovan took a look at it and said he had time to fix it. Jovan and his apprentice also fixed my screen door. I would highly recommend Jovan Kamaina Handyman to do any repairs in your home.
Since they were recommended by NextDoor, I called them and scheduled an appointment. Rep was on time and took measurements, then said the office would be in touch. Waited almost two weeks then called and was told screens didn't come in yet from the mainland! I said I was waiting for a quote before going ahead with the order and she couldn't provide me with a price. Five days later, I got a $1,200 materials only quote plus labor $135/hour! Declined and was told it was a custom order. Lesson learned after paying $135 for the time it took for measurements.
Appreciated timely communication via text. Estimate realistic. Termite repair spot on! Friendly contractor. On time, on budget, great service - what else could a person ask for! I will recommend this company to friends and will use them again, as needed.

Reached out to Kama'aina Handyman via Yelp for help fixing a garbage disposal. They were quick to respond and provide a quote. Quote for the part and labor came close to the final invoice. Would use them again in the future.
They were courteous and finished the job quickly. My bathroom light fixture stopped working. They were quick to troubleshoot the problem and then fix it. Happy with their work and would use them again in the future.
We hired this company to put up our mailbox post after the old one fell down. Although we probably could have done the work ourselves, it saved my husband and I a lot of time and arguing! I believe it was Jovan and another employee who came on a Sunday to complete the project. Although there was some miscommunication about the supplies (I had texted the company that I wanted a metal post and white mailbox, but that wasn't communicated to the employees that came), it all turned out nicely. They dug a perfectly shaped square hole, did the cement, and placed the new post and our original mailbox. It cost us about $175, which for many might seem high for a job we could have done ourselves, but for me, I'm good with it because I didn't have to do anything or go anywhere to get the job completed. Worthwhile in my opinion!!
Their estimate was significantly more than double any other. Therefore, we did not select Kama'aina Handyman.
Exceptional service! Pohai was professional and went above and beyond to help install a stacked washer dryer in a very tight closet space. He was knowledgeable and great at problem solving. I would definitely recommend hiring Kama'aina Handyman for their excellent work and competitive pricing.

AMAZING WORK -- AMAZING TEAM. HIGHLY RECOMMEND Honestly, how rare to find honesty. It is unfortunate, but these days it can get wildly scammy or running a bill up. AND THEN YOU MEET NORA AND TOM AT KAMA'AINA HANDYMAN and realize that, hey the world is still honest and helpful. And people still work in excellence for their clients. After we had sent out a job quote to several handyman shops on the island well I am just so grateful we went with Kama'aina. The pricing was right, work was excellence and the proactive problem solving on site vs. possibly opening up a huge can of worms was impeccable and imperative since we were fixing things for the incoming buyer of our apartment. My repair was very straight forward, and I appreciated the fixed fee quote with no BS like some others that said they need to come out to look at the problem to provide a quote. I always turn to Yelp, to research companies, and I read all reviews before deciding on which company to go with. I chose Kama'aina Handyman because all of their reviews are 5 stars! Speaking from my own experience, this truly is a 5 star company! In May 2020, I sent a request to Kama'aina Handyman for a quote on the installation of a security mesh screen door. I received a response from Joseph that same day and he scheduled an appointment for a quote for a day later. On the scheduled day Jovan showed up and took measurements and I showed him a photo of the security mesh screen door we wanted installed. I was prepared to schedule a future install date and to pick up the door myself however, Jovan informed me that Joseph could pick up the door, for us, and install it that very same day if we wanted that. I chose that option to save myself the hassle and Joseph and Jovan came back that afternoon and voilà! I certainly didn't expect same day installation and needless to say we were very happy with the install and the quality of the work! The security door was exactly what we wanted! I have called on Kama'aina Handyman several times since then and Joseph came out to install bathtub grab bars on our shower tile wall, a large medicine cabinet, and a large towel shelf in our main bathroom. We have so much work to be done on this old house and after I write this review I need to call on them to schedule another job. Everyone at Kama'aina Handyman has been highly professional and the work has been top quality! This will be our go to company! I highly recommend Kama'aina Handyman!

Excellent work by Joseph and David! They rebuilt a large and difficult trellis that spanned between my house and garage, and dealt with obsolete materials. They even cleaned everything up when pau.
They were responsive, gave me an excellent estimate (with no cost overruns), and did a professional job. Joseph shopped for replacement parts for my front door. David does very nice carpentry, even sealing up the joints and spackling the fasteners.
They finished up on time, without rushing the end of the job.
I would definitely recommend Kama'aina Handyman. I am going to make a list of the next round of projects for them.
Heard about this company on the radio and when I needed help moving some large and heavy items to my storage, this was the first company I thought of.
They answered the phone (which is already a great thing), they understood what I needed and sent a great guy with a truck to get my project done. He was even on time!!!

I contacted them on Tuesday, and they were able to handle my job on Thursday. Very efficient, always responded quickly to my emails and calls. I was very pleased with the final product, and also with the price point. I had actually contacted another vendor who quoted me a price of $1,800. Kamaaina Handyman did the work for a little over $300, which is what I thought it should have cost. I highly recommend this company and will use them again if needed.
Had them install a brand new toilet and replaced it's shutoff valve. Done within an hour. Wasn't worth the headache for me, money well spent! Def recommend. Fast friendly and reliable.

I'll give the good before the bad:
Good: Prompt with texts and contact back to me. Showed up on time. I was impressed. I knew exactly how much it was going to cost.
Bad: I had sent a picture of what needed to be worked on. The worker didn't show up with equipment needed for the job. So he had to leave. But he gave me a good idea and I was able to fix the problem myself. Yea!
Another bad. He parked on my neighbors lawn. Really?! I told him if he had done that to my front lawn I'd have called the cops. He didn't seem phased. But he did move his truck. Seriously, we all try and take care of our front lawn/property. Who needs a truck parked smack across the lawn. Booo

I had this business install my shower head because my old one was stuck on the pipe and I couldn't take it off. Jovan shows up, removes the old and installed the new one in LESS THAN 10 minutes. And he was so nice and personable! Can I adopt him?
I meant to write this review a year ago when I needed two ceiling fans replaced, one in our office and the other in our living room.
I sent a bunch of requests through Yelp to various handyman-type businesses and Joseph/the awesome peeps at Kamaaina Handyman got back to us quickly with a reasonable quote.
I was able to schedule an appointment in a day or soon, faster than I expected since I know they're very busy. It's always kind of stressful and anxiety-inducing to have someone come into your home but Joseph was friendly, professional, and skillful. He finished the job quickly and the entire experience was positive.
A few weeks later, one of the fans stopped working. I contacted Kamaaina Handyman and he apologized and said he'd come over to check it out. There wasn't any need for him to apologize since it turns out the fan was a dud! I bought a replacement fan and he came back the same day to install it!
Having Kamaaina Handyman on speed dial is the best thing you can do if you're not very handy (like me) and appreciate great prices, friendly, professional customer service, and an expertise in home repair.

I tried to replace my jalousie window operator by myself but ended up breaking the window pane holder (rivets flew off) while attempting to remove a really rusted screw.
Joseph fixed what I broke and replaced the operator. While he was there, he provided great tips on maintaining these windows since I'm in an older condo complex. I appreciated that he wore a mask throughout the whole job. He shared that the company provides services island-wide and they on-site free estimates.
Definitely recommend them. A+
Needed a window repair. Vinyl molding on window started to come off which caused the locking latch not to work. Everything from initial contact to job finished went smoothly. Joseph explained all what was causing the issue and what was done to repair it. Definitely would use them again.
It's very disappointing to read your response, since we both know it is not correct. The dishwasher was part of the quote and pictures were supplied. If there were issued noted it should have been addressed before quoting. Secondly, it didn't pass home inspection as properly installed because it's still not higher than the drain to prevent back flow, which is an easy fix if you had just done it at the time. The fact you think a screen roller (which I had to redo since the screws were in the wrong place to allow slide) and shower valve should cost double the quote $600 without consulting me first is again just bad business practice. I've been working with contractors on renovations for 15 years but like to try new people to build a portfolio backups, which in this case didn't work and I still had to get someone to redo some of your work :(

The Kama'aina Handyman crew was everything I asked for. They answered the phone after the first ring within 2 minutes of being on the phone, I had an appointment setup! The handyman, Pohai, was very professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. He didn't waste anytime to rack up any labor costs and finished the job in no time at all! If any of the other handymen at this business are like him, then y'all won't be disappointed. Thanks Pohai and thanks Kama'aina!!
Although my needs ended up extending beyond what their services provided for and I ended up not using them, I have to commend their communications and response time which were stellar. 5 out of 5 for that alone which allowed me to move quickly to resolve my problem.
He isn't licensed to do plumbing installations. I thought I'd try Kama'aina Handyman. He might be a cracker barrel handyman but not for this one.

As a realtor, I have crossed the paths of many Handymen. Some that I would not call again. I can honestly say, I would use Kama'aina Handyman repeatedly. We used them for sliding glass doors & locks, these can be very finicky. Just a hair off ruins the alignment. They came in and took care of the problem in a few hours. Gindi, Joe and Jovan were a great team. They work well together. They were prompt & efficient, you can reach them at 808-393-1163.
Had a shower issue last summer, tenant living on property. I had moved to Boston. Still haven't paid the invoice because they won't return my phone calls, but keep harassing my tenant for payment.

The Kama'aina Handyman repaired 6 ceramic exterior tiles, the base of 2 posts that were rotten and plugged a 15 foot long 1 inch gap between the garage wall and house with a shim, caulk and paint. Work scheduled and completed as promised. Company is very responsive and communicates well. Provides estimate of job prior to starting and repair work is done with creative thought. I was so please with KH I called and requested another job that required full replacement of a bath tub faucet in order to allow cold & hot water to flow seperately. Great job by KH rep Joseph.
A few years ago, a friend incorrectly installed an air conditioner in my Condo bedroom that recently (a month ago) resulted in a visible water leak on my bedroom carpet. Prior to the pandemic, I was only living part time in Honolulu and intermittently running my AC. Since March 3rd of 2020, I have been home here and running my AC daily, thus water running out of the air conditioner. Pulling back the carpet, the carpet pad was soaked. Diagnosing the problem and ruling out that it was not a plumbing problem was a huge issue that will be another Yelp review. Long story short, despite having another Contractor/Handyman install a new AC for me, it proved unacceptable. Being a Yelper, I of course looked to Yelp for recommendations/reviews. I was unsuccessful in having an AC company assist me with a better air conditioner. Friends offered to help installing a new AC, lesson learned, so my next step was looking at handyman services. Yelp reviews were stellar for Kama'aina Handyman and what I liked was their positive response to any negative reviews. Gindi and Joseph of Kama'aina Handyman were both accommodating and professional. They were able to get a new air conditioner installed within a week of my contacting them. When you aren't a handyman yourself, you really have to put your trust in who you hire, to do a good job and provide quality work at fair prices. Kama'aina Handyman fits the bill. I recommend using them.

Water ponds on the concrete in my backyard when it rains. Over time, it became very slimy and slippery, which was potentially dangerous. I requested an estimate from Kama'aina Handyman to power wash it and decided to have them take care of it. The two workers arrived on time, moved the furniture and completed the job in a highly satisfactory manner. They were polite and professional. When they finished, they put the furniture back exactly as I requested and made sure the faucet they used was closed correctly. I would highly recommend Kama'aina Handyman and plan to use them for additional jobs in and around my house.

These guys did a terrific job. Really appreciate the professionalism of the entire outfit. They send confirmation texts and show up on time. They do the work efficiently and with a great attitude. They repaired some windows, installed lights. Later the light wiring had problems due to an issue with the product I purchased, and they came back promptly to fix it at no extra cost. Highly recommended.
